Issues accelerating from a complete stop. Happens sporadically, unable to replicate for mechanic, and no codes or warning lights. Has become a safety issue when needing to cross left at any intersection. Doesn’t not accelerate fast enough to safely cross even after flooring the pedal for multiple seconds and no warning when this issue will occur so car gets stuck trying to accelerate in the intersection with oncoming traffic, near collisions on passenger side from oncoming traffic on a route taken multiple times a day as there are NO warnings prior to failure. Get stuck accelerating into intersection and can’t stop because cars behind me accelerate at a normal speed. Vehicle has been to repair shop.

The car has never been in an accident or flooded. Mechanics have been unable to computer diagnose the problem. Warning lights depend on what is happening at the time. However the rear camera light remains on as that feature ceased to function within days of the warranty expiring. Vehicle has begun to intermittently shake violently.Other times the RPM’s are highly erratic, revving up and slowing down or bouncing like crazy. Car sometimes looses power and acts like it is going to stall. Driving on the bridges in Charleston, especially the tallest, the car operates dangerously and unpredictably. The car cannot manage the incline without stuttering or stalling and loosing power. Again, this is not an all the time issue, but an unpredictable occurrence. The RPM gauge will hit 3-4 but the car cannot go over 20-40mph with RPM’s tacking & check engine light comes on. Stalls happen without warning and while operating at normal rates of speed. Meaning it is not a stop & start issue alone. It may happen at 70 mph on the freeway. You never know. On one occasion the push to start feature failed for hours leaving me stranded. The rear back up camera light is on and the feature no longer works. This is dangerous, not an occurrence that is exclusive to me - according to the dealership it is “A complete head scratcher. We keep seeing it. Hearing the same stories but Nissan is non-responsive to the volume of complaints on this issue.” They went on to explain that this will stress the engine and transmission and cause damage to other parts of the car. So they are aware but don’t care? That’s the translation. Moreover, Nissan is aware that this problem has a domino affect that becomes incredibly costly to their customers and that “you can fix one issue and more often than not, another occurs because of the preceding damage.” The transmission failures know to Nissan and known in the industry are life threatening.

Sudden loos of power while accelerating the vehicle.

When diving and accelerating the speed stays between 25-40 miles and will not go over 40. It seems like I have cruise control on but I don't. I have to pull over and turn the vehicle off. When I start it again it works fine. It has happened at least 10 times already. Also, when I accelerate from a stop sign the vehicle hesitates to respond, several seconds later the vehicle was fine. Turning the vehicle on/off seems to fix the problem. I'm scared to drive on the freeway. Please fix this issue.

In sum, vehicle was traveling at 35mph with no obstructions or vehicles in the front of my vehicle and forward collision warning activated, bringing vehicle to a complete stop. Breaks squealed and tire rubber burned onto pavement. Seatbelt clenched torso, leaving bruise on collar bone. Another occurrence was similar in speed, with no obstacles or vehicles in front of mine. The forward collision warning began beeping but not displaying any visuals or breaking vehicle.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED MY 2018 NISSAN ROGUE IN AUGUST OF 2020 AND AS OF MARCH 2021, I'VE HAD 5 INSTANCES WHERE THE FRONT RADAR SYSTEM FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE MALFUNCTIONED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE FRONT RADAR SENSOR IS PART OF THE INTELLIGENT FORWARD WARNING SYSTEM IN NISSANS AND ITS JOB IS TO DETECT THE DISTANCE BETWEEN VEHICLES. THE SENSOR IS TIED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL AND EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM. THE FAULT CONSISTS OF A FRONT RADAR OBSTRUCTION WARNING LIGHT MALFUNCTION ILLUMINATING LEADING TO THE DISENGAGEMENT OF THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE (IF ENGAGED PRIOR TO THE MALFUNCTION) OR THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM BECOMING DISABLED. ALSO, WHEN THE FAULT APPEARS, THE BRAKES ARE ABRUPTLY APPLIED BEFORE BEING RELEASED WHICH IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER AS YOUR RELYING ON THE INTEGRITY OF YOUR BRAKING SYSTEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY MENTIONED THAT THERE WERE NO CURRENT RECALLS IN PLACE FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE AND THAT THE SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE UPDATED WITH THE LATEST SOFTWARE UPDATE TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM IS CORRECTED. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY APPROXIMATELY $150 TO INSTALL THE UPDATE TO THE SYSTEM, WHICH TO ME SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE COMPANY DUE TO IMPLIED SAFETY ISSUES. I WAS SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT A RECALL WAS NOT IN PLACE FOR THIS SYSTEM, CONSIDERING THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE SINCE 2014 AND YET THE NISSAN COMPANY HAS YET TO ISSUE ANY TYPE OF SAFETY RECALL FOR THE ROGUE MODELS, HENCE MY SAFETY COMPLAINT. I FEAR THAT IF THIS PROBLEM ISN'T CORRECTED SOON AN UNSUSPECTING DRIVER COULD GET HURT!

I HAD NEVER HAD A CAR WITH THIS FEATURE BEFORE. I LATER GOT A NOTICE TO BRING IT IN TO A DEAL FOR AN UPDATE BEFORE THE WARRANTY WENT OUT. THE CAR IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAS BEGUN DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING 65 ON THE INTERSTATE WITH NO TRAFFIC OR OBSTACLES IN FRONT OF ME. THE WARNING SYSTEM WENT OFF THEN IMMEDIATELY ACTIVATES THE BRAKES SLOWING ME DOWN TO 40 MILES AN HOUR. THANKFULLY THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS ABLE TO REACT IN TIME TO SWERVE AND MISS ME. I GOT TJE ONE FINGER SALUTE FROM THE DRIVER OF THAT VEHICLE. IT IS NOW HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. BUT I HAVE QUIT UTILIZING SERRA NISSA SINCE THEY PUT THE WRONG TYPE OF OIL IN MY CAR AND REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMITTED TO THE MISTAKE ALSO IT WAS PRINTED THE SERVIVE RECEIPT AS PROOF THAT THEY OIL THEY USES WAS INCORRECT.

THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM HAS MALFUNCTION MANY TIMES - AT LEAST 10 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP BEING JANUARY 2018 THROUGH NOVEMBER 2019. THE MOST RECENT SPECIFIC INCIDENT OCCURRED ON NOVEMBER 22, 2019 AT 12:20PM IN CLEAR DAYLIGHT WHILE DRIVING ON PAVED ROAD, CITY STREET, NOT TURNING. THE RATE OF SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 15MPH AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO IMMEDIATELY STOP. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING DUE TO THE HIGH POSSIBILITY OF SERIOUS INJURY IF THE MALFUNCTION WERE TO OCCUR AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.

WHILE DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY ON A CITY STREET MY CAR SUDDENLY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES WHILE DRIVING UNDER A HIGHWAY OVERPASS. IT DID THIS ON IT'S OWN IN CLEAR WEATHER WHILE IN MOTION. IT APPEARED THE CAR REACTED ON IT'S OWN TO THE SHADOW OF THE HIGHWAY I WAS ABOUT TO DRIVE UNDER. THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND I IN FACT WAS ABOUT TO ACCELERATE TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AFTER GOING UNDER THE OVERPASS. THE CAR BRAKES SUDDENLY WHEN GOING INTO THE SHADOW OF THE OVERPASS. IT STARTLED ME AND MY AUTOMATIC REACTION WAS TO SWITCH MY FOOT TO THE BRAKE AND WHEN I DID I COULD FEEL THE BRAKE WAS ALREADY DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR BRIEFLY STOPPED AND THEN THE BRAKE LET UP AND I THEN COULD CONTINUE DRIVING A COUPLE SECONDS LATER. IT WAS SCARY AND DANGEROUS. SOMEONE COULD'VE BEEN BEHIND ME AND HIT ME. I WAS RATTLED FOR 30 MINUTES AFTERWARD. I AM UNSURE OF THE EXACT DATE THIS OCCURRED BUT I GAVE THE BEST ESTIMATE I COULD DOWN BELOW.

THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM CAME ON BRIEFLY ABOUT A WEEK AGO FOR NO REASON, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON A QUIET CITY STREET. THE SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. SINCE THEN, IT HAS HAPPENED 4 MORE TIMES, BUT MUCH WORSE. EACH TIME I WAS IN MOTION, AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, BUT NOT EXCEEDING 45 MPH. YESTERDAY I WAS GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON A STREET BY MY HOUSE, AND THE AEB CAME ON HARD. THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME. VISIBILITY WAS PERFECT. ONLY 2 BLOCKS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT CAUSED ME TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY FOREARM, WHICH IS NOW SORE, AND A CAR BEHIND ME HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MODERN NISSAN OF LAKE NORMAN (18615 STATESVILLE RD, CORNELIUS, NC 28031, (704) 603-6575) FOUR TIMES, BUT THE FAILURES COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. DURING THE SECOND VISIT, THE DEALER CALIBRATED THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL IT STORED THE FAILURE INFORMATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE AFTER THE CALIBRATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 36645582. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,800.

BOTH TIMES I WAS ACCELERATING FROM BEING STOPPED AT A LIGHT. BOTH TIMES SYSTEM FLASHES ORANGE, BEEPS, MAKES AWFUL GRINDING NOISE, AND SLOWS THE CAR DOWN.

WHEN GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT APPROXIMATELY 40 OR 45 MPH, WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES VISIBLE IN FRONT OR BEHIND, THE CAR GAVE A WARNING, FLASHED THE SAFETY SYSTEM TO RED, AND ENGAGED THE BRAKES. THE CAR DECELERATED RAPIDLY, THE DRIVER HIT THE BRAKES BRIEFLY, NOT LONG ENOUGH TO COME TO A STOP. THE SAFETY SYSTEM WENT BACK TO NORMAL, THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND CONTINUE DRIVING AND THE CAR BEHAVED NORMALLY AFTERWARDS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS DONE THIS IN A FEW WEEK'S TIME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE ASSIST RANDOMLY ACTIVATED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DECELERATE AND/OR STOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A REPRESENTATIVE WAS SENT TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE AT PRIORITY NISSAN (6390 RICHMOND RD, WILLIAMSBURG, VA). THE FRONT SENSORS WERE REPLACED AND A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. ALSO, WHILE IN REVERSE, THE REAR SENSORS MALFUNCTIONED AND FAILED TO ALERT THAT A SECOND VEHICLE WAS POSITIONED IN THE REAR, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO BACK INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AND SET AT 55 MPH, THE SPEED WOULD INCREASE ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING ON A CURVED ROAD. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. AFTER MAKING CONTACT WITH THE CURB, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH. DURING THE INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE MADE A SHARP 90 DEGREE TURN AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A COMMERCIAL BUILDING. THE VEHICLE PENETRATED THE WALL AND STOPPED INSIDE THE BUILDING. BOTH THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SUFFERED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET DURING A CLEAR DAY AT APPROXIMATELY 9AM. THE VEHICAL WAS GOING 40MPH WHEN THE FRONT COLLISION SENSOR ACTIVATED THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM. THERE WERE NO CARS OR OBSTACLES AROUND THE VEHICLE. I WAS TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED. AFTER STOPPING, THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION AND THE COLLISION WARNING CLEARED. I HAVE SCHEDULED SERVICE TO ADDRESS MY CONCERNS WITH THE FRONT RADAR SYSTEM.

THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A FRONT RADAR SYSTEM WHICH WILL APPLY EMERGENCY BREAKING IF OBJECTS ARE SENSED TO BE IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IT'S IN MOTION. ON JAN 29, 2019, MY VEHICLE ENGAGED EMERGENCY BRAKING WHILE I WAS CROSSING A RAILROAD CROSSING ON A ROUGH CITY STREET. THE VEHICLE BEGAN BEEPING, CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL AUTOMATICALLY PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND WOULD NOT DRIVE UNTIL I PRESSED THE BRAKE. THIS LEFT ME SITTING ON AN ACTIVE RAIL CROSSING WITH A VEHICLE COMING UP BEHIND ME. THIS SIMILAR SITUATION HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL OTHER TIMES WHILE CROSSING UNDER BRIDGES AND ENTERING PARKING GARAGES BUT IN THOSE CASES, ONLY LIGHT BRAKING OCCURRED AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED WITHOUT NEEDING TO PRESS THE BRAKE.

THE AEB SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING. ON MULTIPLE OCCASSIONS THE CAR SUDDENLY BREAKS EVENTHOUGH THERE IS NOTHING IN FRONT OF THE CAR. IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED TO ME WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY - GENERALLY THE ROADS ARE CLEAR. ON ONE OF THE MULTIPLE OCCASSIONS, CLEARING THE RADAR OF BUG SPLATTER SOLVED THE PROBLEM. ON ALL THE OTHER OCCASSIONS, THERE WAS NO OBSTRUCTION TO THE RADAR. THE BRAKES COME ON, THE AEB LIGHT ON THE CONSOLE COMES ON, A WARNING FLASHES, AND THEN THE CAR MOVES ON AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER DOING THIS SEVERAL TIMES OVER SEVERAL MILES, THE AEB LIGHT COMES ON AND IT DESPLAYS AN ERROR MESSAGE ABOUT THE FRONT RADAR IS NOT WORKING AND THE CRUISE IS DISABLED. ON ONE OF THE OCCASSIONS A LARGE PICKUP TRUCK TOWING A TRAILER WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY PUT ON THE BRAKES. FORTUNATELY, HE WAS ABLE TO STOP BEFORE HITTING MY CAR. WHEN I HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT THE DEALER, I TOLD THE SERVICE REP ABOUT THE ISSUE. HE INDICATED THAT A SHADOW OR SOMETHING LIKE A LEAF BLOWN ACROSS THE RADAR CAN CAUSE IT TO REACT. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY OCCRENCE OF SUCH. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED THAT SOMEONE FOLLOWING TO CLOSE WILL END UP RAMMING ME IN THE REAR END. AFTER DOING AN INTERNET SEARCH, I HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE OCCURENCES OF THIS PROBLEM AND THAT NISSAN HAS SENT OUT SEVERAL TECHNICAL BULLETINS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. AS NOTED ABOVE, THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE EVENTS OF THIS TYPE. IT TYPICALLY HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY.

THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED MY MILEAGE WAS 3000+. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. MY MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,200. ON BOTH OCCASIONS I WAS GOING IN A STRAIGHT DIRECTION. MY VEHICLE HAS ALSO ALERTED ME MULTIPLE TIMES THAT THERE IS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE CRASH DETECTOR. I HAVE UPLOADED A PICTURE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE WHICH, IN TURN, CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN IN FOR A MEDICAL CHECK-UP. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED; HOWEVER, A SCHEDULE WAS MADE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,600.
