I took this vehicle to the dealership, and the dealership said that the transmission needs to be replaced. I sold this car to Surburban Chevrolet of Ann Arbor, but they appear to be selling the car without fixing the transmission. It is not safe to drive this car because the vehicle is jerky and may not change the gear properly in the highway.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle started shuddering. The contact stated that the engine revved up to high. While driving, the vehicle stopped suddenly, drove, and then stopped again. The contact continuously moved the gear shifter and the vehicle moved forward. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the transmission solenoids were defective. The contact called an unknown local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The car had problems with failing to start and failing to accelerate while driving. Check engine light came on and OBD scanner indicated it was the CVT. The car was inspected and repaired in March 2023. In 2025 (the same problem of check engine indicating the CVT) is occurring. CVT sensor was replaced; however, two weeks later the check engine light is back on indicating CVT issues and is now also overheating.

Vehicle began making a whining noise when starting with car in park, accelerating or decelerating. Didn’t seem to drive like normal. I Immediately took car to my usual mechanic and was notified it was the CVT transmission and it would need to be replaced. I was made aware of the recall by my mechanic. I contacted Nissan and was told they would not cover it. I’ve kept regular maintenance on my car and it only has 131,000 miles. .

The transmission failed. The car just stopped moving forward while My son was driving in traffic. It was 12:00 in the afternoon on a Friday so local traffic was a bit heavy. Traffic had to go onto the other side of the road creating a hazard. Luckily the car behind was following at a safe distance and was able to stop. There was no previous warnings that this was going to happen. The car had to be towed to a repair shop. The repair shop called NIssan but they said they could not offer any assistance with repairing the transmission even though this is a known problem to them.

When I started the car it sounded like the engine was clicking. I turned it off thinking it may have been from the cold. After restarting the car, the sound did not start again. About 10 minutes into my drive, it started to feel like the the car was shaking each time I braked. About 5 minutes later, it felt like the car was fighting me to accelerate. After I stopped at a red light, it would not accelerate past 20 mph and started dropping as I pulled to the side of the road. It would not accelerate but I could hear the engine revving. No service engine light came on, or any other light. I turned off the car and called AAA to have my car towed to the dealership I purchased the car (Piazza Nissan). They did a diagnosis on the car which gave the diagnostic of P2859 and P0746. Upon searching these codes, a recall for Nissan Sentra with manufacture dates of 2013-2017 came up stating CVT judder and transmission issues. I called the dealer to ask about this recall, since they told me I need a new transmission with the cost of $6640.87. I was told the recall (Classification #AT19-011, NTB #NTB19-075 [XXX] ) for this expired in 2022. When asked why I never received a notice about this recall, I was informed they are sent by VIN. When I checked my VIN, no active recalls came up. Clearly, my car is experiencing the same issues as this recall and my vehicle (2015 Nissan Sentra) was manufactured in that time frame. I was lucky I was able to move my vehicle to the side of the road safely without causing as accident. I am deeply annoyed that I was not made aware of this issue that clearly effected my vehicle and could have caused a serious accident had I not been able to pull to the side of the road and thankfully the car behind was not close to me. This particular vehicle exhibits a very strong, almost dash rattling judder when moving from the 1st to 2nd gearing ratio. This is especially dangerous in traffic and intersections where the vehicle is known to be in 1st or 2nd gear ratio, as Nissan likes to ratio out their CVT in software through the TCM to produce what feels like shifting from gear-to-gear as in a normal automatic transaxle. What makes this situation extremely bad is that when entering an on-ramp to the interstate (I-20 for example) it will intermittently judder from 1st to 2nd and then no power. After the judder it takes another few seconds for the TCM to figure out what happened and engage maybe more valve body pressure? I'm not sure completely, but it's extremely unsafe to drive. The Altima/Rogue with the same transaxle and model year run was issued a TSB and subsequently a TCM update was issued to rectify the early shudder, but the Sentra did not receive that update. The TCM output data shows that when this shudder is happening that there is a loss in hydraulic pressure somewhere in the unit. As Nissan says you never are supposed to change the fluid, this creates a very serious issue not only with the transmission, but warranty as well. The safety risk to others is high on this one because this could cause major rear-end conditions and city driving collisions as the car is supposed to be accelerating but can't because the transaxle was slipping and not gaining speed with the rest of the vehicles as expected.

2015 Nissan Sentra SV jerks when accelerating

Aug 27, 2024

Common problem is the CVT transmission issues of it slipping or grinding. Was told there’s a recall from Nissan on 2013 to 2017 Sentra of CVT transmissions.

Bought 2015 Nissan Sentra SR from Nissan West in Dickson, TN. The car didn't even a lot of miles on it. Not even a month after having the car, the transmission went out. Car started acting up on the interstate. Would not shift gears, wouldn't go over a certain amount of speed, almost caused us to be hit multiple times. Finally got it to Nissan West dealership where they did confirm transmission was no good. Nissan West, reworked the transmission instead of giving us a new transmission. Now, over a year and 3 months later, the transmission went out again. Has been confirmed by Nissan West in Dickson, TN. The transmission had only a little over 10,000 miles on it. This time I was pulling out onto a busy street when the car out of the blue would not go forwards or backwards. Luckily we did not get hit and we had to push the car out of the middle of the road.

Excessive transmission slipping. I can be driving and it slips so bad and won’t gain speed or anything

Apr 27, 2024

Me and my daughter was pulling out onto a bypass highway and the car wouldn't go anywhere and we were stuck in the middle of the highway with cars coming towards us. So I had to jump out and while it was still in drive I had to push it out of the highway so we wouldn't get hit by the on coming traffic. I finally pushed it fast enough and jumped back into the car and pressed the gas pedal and it caught so I could drive it home and I parked it.

Transmission has went out twice on my vehicle in 3 years. Was wondering if there are underlining transmission issues that Nissan has not informed me on.

Dec 13, 2023

2015 Nissan Sentra with only 83000 CVT transmission failed

Dec 12, 2023

While pulling out in an intersection, my car would not accelerate as normal and I was almost hit by incoming traffic. When accelerating from stop, the vehicle moves slowly and hesitates. Once over a certain speed the car will function properly. The CVT is an issue in models 2013-2015 Nissan Altima also, but the manufacturer issued an extension for the powertrain warranty. The same should be done for the Sentra. It's a safety concern, because the CVT can go out at any time putting the driver at risk.

Transmission is really bad after even nissan replaced it doesn’t shift correct, the car jumps, the brakes really doesn’t do well even after they change it. The motor sound is really high. The car doesn’t speed up on the highway to go in front of the right lane, so it puts me in dangerous several times. All documents of complain since 2019 at Nissan Petaluma ,CA and now the car at Nissan auto nation Las Vegas for the second time after they change the transition . Thanks

1.Engine malfunction/Transmission failure .Yes, available for inspection upon request. 2. While driving my car in traffic my car started to hesitate then it started to slow down on its own I pressed on the gas pedal and it did not move forward at all the speedometer went to zero ,so I quickly turned on my hazard lights and pull over on the side of the road. Thank god I was in the lane close to the shoulder of the road. I cut the car off for a minute then started it back up and put it in drive and drove it down the street to my brother’s house where it is still sitting there now. This was very frightening and very unsafe experience , there were no warning signs far as dashboard icons emergency. I’m afraid to drive my car again and now have pay someone to take me to work and back home this is so inconvenient for me when I have a car of my own . All because of this faulty situation with the transmission 3. No inspections by anyone. 4. Prompt actions and attention to the matter of my car is of the importance to me and my Nissan Sentra to ensure the safety of myself and others.

On 4/29/2003 I had taken my car in for an oil change soon after leaving my car began to come to a stop I attempted to drive my car would hardly move fortunately I was able to make it back to the Valvoline oil change to have them tell me if my oil change was any way responsible after being given a reasonable explanation I was instructed to try and make it to a nearby auto zone i did they did a quick diagnostic I was told it was the pressure solenoid over the next week i reached out to any and everybody i even called Nissan headquarters spoke with someone that said I might qualify for a goodwill assist program, but I had to have the dealership perform a diagnostic testing I did, and found out i needed a transmission i had been driving with a faulty transmission, i am sometimes responsible for my mom to her doctor's appointment I was attempting to turn at a red light had enough time to turn car stalled in traffic which left me stuck in the middle of on coming traffic was finally able to avoid being broadsided my mom would surely have been hurt or worst no indication of having problem until it happened im sure their are others with similar issues im well aware car manufacturers will not have recall on anything that interferes with profit [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I just bought a 2015 Nissan Sentra. I have gotten 2 error codes P0101 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction and C1130 Engine Signal 1 two times in a span of 4 months. Based on my research, the 'C' error code only occurs because of the 'P' error code, meaning once I resolve the 'P' code then the 'C' code will resolve. In both instances my report, that I got from Autozone, suggested to replace my Mass Air Flow Sensor(MAFS). The first time it occurred I bought a brand new MAFS from Autozone and installed it in my car using YouTubes help. After it was installed, I had a mechanic reprogram my cars computer. The mechanic's exact words were that he "relearned the throttle body values". I did this because he advised me to just to be safe. My check engine light came on recently and when I got the codes read at Autozone it was telling me the EXACT same codes as last time. This is four months later from when I installed the brand new MAFS in my car so I highly doubt it is the MAFS that is the problem. In my attached pictures, there is another code regarding my transmission that is unrelated to this issue so please ignore it, I'm getting it fixed on my own. I did research online and found that this exact same issue with the 2 error codes I am having is a very common issue with Nissan Sentras in general. Please help and force Nissan to resolve this ongoing issue that MANY people are having.

My transmission has went out 3 or 4 times now. Nissan has replaced it and the same issue keeps occurring. I was driving in the middle of the intersection and my car just stopped. I had to have people help me push my car out of the way. Nobody would stop and almost hit me and the people helping. There were no warning lights that came on. My car jerked then my car would not increase speed. It would just rev really high then not move

Transmission. Up and down idling when accelerating, high RPM but not accelerating in speed, jerking, whining sounds while driving, thumping into gears, bad burning smell, no type of warning lights

The CVT transmission failed again. It was replaced in Dec 2021 and now it has failed again. The safety of my 19 year old daughter was put at risk being she was 30 minutes away from home and with no prior warning the transmission failed as she was driving it. The car runs great outside of the transmission issues. We had to have the car towed to our local dealership. They did cfm that the transmission failed again. There were no indications that there was something wrong with the transmission. It was not lagging, it was running great. Nissan is fully aware of all the transmission issues they are having and they are not willing to help with the faulty transmission. This will be the 3rd transmission if we pay 6000.00 to have it repaired for it to fail again in less then 2 years.

Cvt transmission had to be replaced

May 10, 2023

The vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating while driving 10 mph in heavy traffic. The RPM's do not go above 2,000 and no visible failure lights on dashboard are reported. Vehicle has 109k miles and has always been serviced. Mechanic performed inspection and confirmed CVT failure. Replacing the CVT now costs what the car is worth. Makes no sense to repair. Nissan needs to do better.

The problem is that the transmission on this vehicle had to replaced at 108k miles. This I believe is a known issue with the CVT transmission used in this model. Nissan claims that the warranty was extended to 80k miles or 7 years. I filed a complaint with Nissan complaint # 48661785, But they of course didn’t do anything. This vehicle was purchased new and all services were done at a Nissan Dealership. The transmission just stopped while driving.

Mar 17, 2023

My 2015 Nissan Sentra has received routine maintenance since I had purchased it new as the original owner. The vehicle was taken to Authorized Nissan Dealerships for routine maintenance and transmission diagnostic test 50,220MI. During this time the vehicle was within mileage and time warranty per Nissan settlement of the CVT transmission. At the time, the transmission was experiencing surging and falling RPMs at or around 2900RPM traveling above 70MPH; heavily prevalent at speeds +75MPH. I had also mentioned to the technician the problem seems to worsen after driving for duration's when the transmission gets warmer. At lower speeds it would sometimes jerk or 'downshift' rough during accelerations. The dealership had pulled no codes during the diagnostic test, "test drove and could feel a slight trans slip/judder when going uphill especially. no codes present."(technician) The issues became more prevalent, I felt my safety was definitely at risk on the highway, as well as my car could not be depended upon for longer distant trips especially, became limiting factor. The vehicle was brought back again for routine maintenance and another transmission diagnostic 57,899MI. Surging and jerking issues had worsened. While entering a connecting highway the car had accelerated to 55MPH before 'shifting' and the had risen to 4900RPMs. Following the incident my vehicle would experience rougher 'downshifts' and jerkier acceleration than before. At this visit to the dealership the transmission diagnostic test pulled a code P17F3-Auxillary Gear Box Ratio error. I am currently seeking Nissan Motor Corporation to remedy my claim with the information presented, affecting my safety, cost of transportation and time to visit the dealership, and the significant lost value of my vehicle with its limited power-train life span of only 57,899MI.

Car shuts off while driving on the highway was almost killed.

Feb 13, 2023

For a while now it jerks or pulls, and it only goes up to 1-2 gears like it doesn't want to accelerate. It doesn't shift gear properly more like transmission issues. There is no power.

Feb 4, 2023

The CVT (transmission) in the 2015 Nissan Sentra SV failed at 67,000 miles. The vehicle had regular maintenance and had previously had a preventative transmission fluid flush at 45,000 miles. There were no warning lights to indicate a vehicle issue. The car began to hesitate when accelerating and then lost all ability to accelerate while driving at highway speeds. The vehicle was not able to accelerate, which would have endangered myself and others if I had not moved the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway quickly.

Jan 13, 2023

My 2015 Nissan Sentra with 86,603 miles, was taken to the dealership service department on 12/26/22, because of faulty acceleration, rpms will rise but vehicle will not accelerate properly and hesitates to go, especially on the highway, causing a serious potential for an accident and crash. There were no warning lamps or messages ever displayed in the vehicle. A technician also drove the vehicle and confirmed the faulty acceleration. The service department scanned the vehicle and found NO codes present. I was notified by the service department that an update was available and I was charged $410.00 for the update. With this update, they found a stored code P17F3. I was told that the CVT transmission was shot and needed replaced. I was quoted $5,500.00 and told that this transmission was not under any type of warranty due to mileage and date. I have found multiple articles concerning Nissan extending the warranty on some of the CVT transmissions, as well as Class Action lawsuits against Nissan on the CVT transmissions, and would like to find out how I can be added to the lawsuit. I also contacted Nissan Headquarters and they did agree to a 50/50 split.

The CVT in this car is faulty. The transmission has been rebuilt but it still has the same issue. The transmission doesn’t di room properly and although the rpm’s increase the car will not accelerate. I’ve taken the car to Nisan dealerships. They now deny that this issue exists and will not offer a fix. The car is a safety hazard. It loses the ability to accelerate at low and high speeds. While on the highway or in the city the car loses the ability to maintain or increase speed. There is also a known issue with this car related to the brake switch and moisture in the tail light. The dealership knows by way of Nissan corporation sharing an article with them about this issue in other cars and knows that the brake switch is faulty and that the car can brake and accelerate at the same time but no recall has been issued. These issues are ongoing, have been happening since the car was about 3 years old and happen regularly.

Vehicle lost transmission power out of nowhere. Would not reverse, nor drive in L gear. I was stuck in the middle of nowhere. I've only had car 45 days. It is at a shop that may or may not fix. I see so many issues and class action stuff. I want and need this fixed

My daughter was driving down the highway and the vehicle just stopped pulling and started coasting. The car would just idle from then on. Had it towed to a mechanic and he said it needed a transmission. There was no warning lights or service lights on in the vehicle. Loss of power could have resulted in a accident in the middle of traffic

My Vehicles stalled on me on multiple occasions one in particular I was with my family including my two year old daughter. when the car began to violently jerk on the NJ turnpike, total ambarassment ensued and ultimately I had to drive that way for about an hour or so. I had a Mechanic from Nissan come to my home and the diagnosis was the tranny was done. Rip to my baby at 115k miles so sad.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle stalled upon depression of the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The failure worsened and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

While at a stop sign, the CVT transmission seamed to fail. The car started to shake when I tried to accelerate and then would not move at all while I was stuck in the middle of an intersection. I almost got sandwiched between 2 cars.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made loud abnormal sounds and then lost motive power. The contact related the failure to a faulty CVT transmission; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.

While driving, the vehicle’s rpm’s will bounce up and down. When accelerating the vehicle will stutter, transmission slip, or not go when gas pedal is all the way down. This has left me in the middle of intersections when the light is turning red, it’s has had me on one lane roads being unable to move. The vehicle can be in motion and just stop risking an accident. I have had the codes checked due to check engine light being on. Check engine light has not been accurate with readings. From one day to the next the codes will change. After the transmission went out it finally read codes related to the transmission. After making the suggested fixes it still functions the same. Prior to getting code related to the transmission the vehicle indicated that there was something wrong with the fuel system. I have had a certified mechanic look at my vehicle confirming the above. The codes read on multiple occasions and fixing what was suggested has not made any difference.

Feb 25, 2022 Crash

The transmission quit working in rush our traffic in St. Louis, Missouri. The incident nearly caused a severe accident, if it hadn't been for two alert drivers during rush hour. After sitting for approximate sixty minutes waiting for a tow truck. Just before the the tow truck arrive another tow driver was going to pick up another vehicle "he stop to help." The tow driver was going to tow the vehicle. He was testing to see what the problem. As he started the vehicle he put it in drive and nothing happen. After a few minutes it jump in gear. The vehicle was driven home with loosing power, surging, and RPM going up without acceleration. This happen in late November. The car continued to jerk, stall, and loose power over long trips. The car was taken to the dealership but they could do nothing until they put a device on it to read codes. This was completed December 20, 2021, I was notified to drive the vehicle for several days up to a week and bring it back to them. The vehicle was picked up and drove per dealership instruction. The car was returned after Christmas. The tech perform a TCM update. They tested and drove the vehicle with myself in the car. The manager concluded the car had transmission problems that pointed to the transmission but it would not reveal a code. Until they get a code or approval from Nissan there was nothing they could. On about January 28, 2022, I was instructed to pick up the car. Also, I was instructed the car was unsafe to drive. It was bitter cold (12 degree) fifteen minutes into the drive home the service manger call (note after hours). The vehicle stalled/loss power and a multiple of problems. Approximately twenty miles away the vehicle caused an accident in which I suffer frostbite and damaged to my left hip. With the assistant of the State Trooper I was safe until the tow truck from D and K arrived. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership and remain until present date, [XXX]. I bought this car with the understanding that it was in drivable condition with no major problems bought in 2017 now in 2022 there is a problem with the CVT transmission which I have just learned had been in several class action suits I took it to the dealership who only took it for a drive and said they heard a weird noise. Then I was informed it needed the transmission replace at a cost of over $4000 which I don’t have they told me my warranty was expired and the extended warranty given by Nissan was no good either they offered to give me $1000 to buy my car I still owe $9000 on it and then proceeded to try and sell me another car. They didn’t care about me nor my problem. I never got any information about any class action lawsuit. I feel that they were deceptive and hid the truth from me about this defective transmission. I want a replacement with no cost to me. I would not have bought this model if I was told about this major defect.

Feb 12, 2022

After getting my transmission serviced, my car started jerking often and lagging on speed from 0-35. Once hitting 40 mph, it would create a loud rev up and a rough kick back. It has stalled out and started up numerous times while sitting in freeway traffic and traffic light controlled intersections to the point that I had to move it and park somewhere safe for 10 mins for it to restart then stall out again a few mins later down the road.

Feb 9, 2022

The transmission in my vehicle is not working and I see there has been a known issue on models from 2013-2017. I would like this repaired, please.

I'm driving my car on the freeway and it's stalls. I barely made it to the shoulder. I waited a few minutes and drove again. Went a few miles, and again, it stalled. I made it to a safe place. Had my car towed to a mechanic. They said it was the CVT transmission.

Dec 8, 2021

The component which has failed is the CVT Transmission. It can be available and has been inspected upon request. The safety is for myself, my son, and other drivers on the roads because the transmission could cause hesitation as it did previoiusly without warning while in operation causing a possible collision. The problem has been confirmed by the manufacturer. The component has been inspected by the delaer on behalf of the manufacturer. There were no warning lamps this time because the dealer stated the code found during the diagnostic check indicates the transmission is not communicating with the vehicle computer so that the warning lamp would indicate there is a problem. The transmission was replaced February 2021. However, after only being driven 21, 263 miles this transmission is malfunctioning and is defective.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal as the check engine warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic and had the air flow sensor replaced but soon after repair, the failure returned. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to another independent mechanic however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

Transmission malfunction. The car will reduced speed putting me on risk of getting hit in the back and someone colliding with me due the reduction of speed and the slowness of the car to start to gain speed. There was some jerking as gas pedal was pressed down and will slow down and then gain speed before it completely slow down to the point it will not go beyond 40 miles per hour. The car was inspected by the Nissan dealership where the car was bought and transmission is failing internally according to their findings. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership. There were no warning/message prior to this problem.

On Saturday, 25 SEP 2021, my wife and I departed San Clemente, CA, at 3:30 AM enroute to Idaho Falls, ID. We were driving my son and daughter-in-law’s 2015 Nissan Sentra with approximately 62,000 miles on the odometer. The car contained my wife and me along with 2 suitcases. At approximately 5:00 AM we approached the Cajun Pass, heading north on I15 North, going 70mph with the cruise control engaged. The crest of Cajun pass is approximately 3800 ft and the base of the pass is approximately 1100 ft, thus a rise of 2700 feet in a relatively short distance. As the 2015 Nissan Sentra began to ascend the Cajun Pass, the engine RPMs raised to 3700 RPM, but then the cruise control disengaged and the car lost power. I merged to the right into the Truck Lane and could only go 30-35 mph. Additionally, the engine RPMs would oscillate between 3700-3900, even though my foot maintained a steady pressure on the gas pedal. After we reached the top of Cajun Pass, I15 North actually descends and the2015 Nissan Sentra could then again be driven at 70-75 mph. For the remainder of trip on I15 North from Cajun Pass to Idaho Falls, there are approximately 10 steep grades where Trucking Lanes are provided. In each and every of those cases, the 2015 Nissan Sentra exhibited the exact symptoms it exhibited on Cajun Pass – the car lost power, could only be driven at 30-35 mph, and the engine RPMs oscillated between 3700-3900 RPM, even though the speed was constant and the gas pedal was depressed with the same pressure. There are literally dozens of additional hills between Cajun Pass and Idaho Falls on I15 North where the grade was not steep enough to warrant a Truck Lane, but there is still a considerable hill. In each and every one of those hills, the 2015 Nissan Sentra was only able to achieve a speed of 50-55 mph, even though the posted speed limit is generally 75 or 80mph. The car was unsafe to drive because most cars on I15 North are going 80-85 mph, which is 30-35 mph faster

The 2015 Nissan Sentra SV has issues with stalling during driving, not accelerating over a certain MPR but RPM continues to get higher, and the car seeming to jerk when in drive. The transmission seems to slip. There are no indicators for check engine that has came on prior to these events taking place. Very unsafe driving on the highway when these situations occur. Has had multiple diagnostics done and nothing has been solved.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle would shudder after accelerating and stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who performed a transmission flush and replaced the fluid filters. However, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic and diagnosed as transmission failure. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall related to the failure and to take the vehicle in for diagnosis. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall related to the failure and referred the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

THE CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING OK BUT THEN OUT OF NOWHERE THE CAR JUST STOPPED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT COULD NOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILING. HAD TO PAY $225 TO GET IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE AT 1:00 AM THEN ANOTHER $150 TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALER TO GET A DIAGNOSIS FOR NISSAN. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS GIVEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 7 YEARS/ 84,000 MILES. I AM STILL WITHIN THE 7 YEAR TIMEFRAME BUT I HAVE 86,439 MILES ON MY CAR. ONE ORIGINAL OWNER BEFORE ME. CLEAN CAR FAX REPORT AND THE CAR WAS DRIVEN MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. I HAVE HAD IT A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AND BARELY PUT 10,000 MILES ON IT. THIS CAR STOPPED WHILE MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. SHE IS VERY LUCKY THAT NOTHING BAD HAPPENED TO HER. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND NISSAN HAS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND EVENTUALLY SOMETHING BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO SOMEONE BECAUSE OF THIS. I FEEL THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THIS REPAIR AS THEY KNOWINGLY ARE SELLING THESE VEHICLES WITH TRANSMISSIONS AND THEY HAVE CAUSED MORE PROBLEMS FOR MORE PEOPLE. I HAVE AN OPEN CASE WITH NISSAN BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS OR NOT.

THE CVT TRANSMISSION ON MY 2015 NISSAN SENTRA COMPLETELY FAILED. PRIOR TO THE COMPLETE FAILURE, IT HAS SWITCHED GEARS ON IT'S OWN WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON A CROWDED HIGHWAY, ALMOST CAUSING THE SEMI BEHIND ME TO HIT ME AND ALMOST CAUSING A MULTI-CAR PILEUP DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT THAT TIME.. DURING THE SAME TRIP, IT LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAY. IT HAS LOST POWER DRIVING THROUGH MY CITY STREETS, ALMOST CAUSING OTHER CARS TO HIT ME- AND IT STALLED WHEN I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC- FORCING OTHER CARS TO GO INTO THE OTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC TO GET AROUND ME BECAUSE THE CAR HAD TO BE PUSHED INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. A FEDERAL JUDGE HAS FOUND THE CVT TRANSMISSION TO BE FAULTY. WHY HAS NISSAN NOT HAD TO RECALL THIS TRANSMISSION AND WHY DO THEY NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS WHEN THEIR TRANSMISSION IS AT FAULT.

THEY TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG BUT THEY NEEDED 4 HRS TO REPROGRAM THE ECM. THE CAR WAS TAKEN BACK SEVERAL TIMES. EACH TIME THEY SAY THEY ARE ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM BUT THEY REPORT TO NISSAN THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM, EVEN AFTER HAVING MY CAR FOR 4 DAYS IN THEIR SHOP. THEY CONSTANTLY SAY NOTHIGN IS WRONG. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ASID THEY WOULD COVER THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. WHEN I CONTACTED THEM ABOUT IT, THEY DENIED IT. WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE TO PAY $250 FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT IT BUT THEY WOULD ONLY PUT IN FOR A OUT OF WARRANTY REPLACEMENT IF IT FAILS COMPLETELY. WAS TOLD OUT OF WARRANTY REPLACEMENT CONSISTS OF ME COMING UP WITH $4000 FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY WOULD WRITE OFF THE LABOR. NISSAN AND TOM HESSER NISSAN PERFORMED BREACH OF CONTRACT UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT PROPERLY ADDRESS THE ISSUE WHILE IT WAS UNDER THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY. CAR IS STILL GIVING ME ISSUES AFTER 3 YEARS. UNFORTUNATELY THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING US THAT OUR VEHICLE IS NOT A PART OF THE CHRONIC FACTORY RECALL THAT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH NISSAN FOR QUITE SOME TIME.

I HAVE A 2015 NISSAN SENTRA WITH A FAILED CVT TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE HAPPENED SUDDENLY WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, DOING AND AVERAGE SPED OF 65 MPH. DURING ACCELERATION, THE CAR WILL LURCH AND JUMP FORWARD LIKE IT'S LOSING POWER THAN GAINING IT BACK, IT SHIFTS EXTREMELY HARD AND WILL NOT GAIN SPEED UNLESS GOING DOWNHILL. WHILE PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR THE RPMS WILL BOUNCE BETWEEN 2K AND 6K RAPIDLY. THROUGH DOING RESEARCH I FOUND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE, THERE ARE SENTRA OWNERS WHO'S CAR HAS LESS THAN 60K MILES HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

I HAVE GONE THRU 3 TRANSMISSIONS IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS. 1ST WENT OUT AT 33K, 2ND WENT OUT AT 86K, AND THE LAST AT 148K. NISSAN CHARGED ME 800.00 FOR THE 2ND. NISSAN STATES I AM LIABLE FOR ALL CHARGES NOW. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I'VE HAD THE WORK DONE HAS REPLACED OVER 1000 OF THESE TRANNYS. WHY? THEY ARE DEFECTIVE OR AT LEAST AN INFERIOR PRODUCT. A SEARCH OF YOUR SITE HAS GARNERED OVER 100 COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS PART IN MY YEAR AND MODEL ALONE. NISSAN STATED TO ME THAT IF I REPLACE IT THE WARRANTY WILL BE 12 MO OR 12K MILES. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS PART IS PROPRIETARY TO THE VEHICLE, THERE IS NO OTHER REPLACEMENT PART! SALVAGE YARDS IN LAS VEGAS WILL NOT EVEN CARRY THEM. TO PUT A DIFFERENT TRANNY IN WOULD REQUIRE AN ENGINE AND ECM CHANGE. I ASKED ONE YARD WHAT THEY DO IF THEY GOT A VEHICLE WITH THIS TRANNY AND THEY STATED THAT THEY REMOVE THE TRANNY AND PART THE CAR OUT. IS THIS WHAT I'M FORCED TO DO? THE REALITY OF THIS PART FAILING AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY AND GETTING RUN OVER BY A SEMI TRUCK IS VERY REAL WITH DIRE CONSEQUENCES. I IMPLORE YOU TO LAUNCH AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE QUALITY OF THIS PART AND NISSANS BUSINESS PRACTICES.

THEN ON WAY HOME FROM WORK ON THE HWY IT STOPS ACCELERATING SO I FLOOR IT JUST TO GET ANY SPEED, THEN IT WOULD ACCELERATE AGAIN SOMEWHAT NORMALLY. DID THIS FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK BEFORE I COULD TAKE TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THEY DO NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE AND I KNEW BETTER B/C WHILE THEY WERE CHECKING THE CAR OUT, THEY LOANED ME A CAR TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK AND IT WAS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME CAR, MAY OF BEEN A YEAR NEWER OR OLDER BUT IT WAS A SENTRA. THIS SENTRA DROVE SO MUCH SMOOTHER AND I KNEW MINE HAD AN ISSUE THEN. BUT THEY INSISTED NO PROBLEM. I HAD THE CAR BACK 1 DAY FROM THEM AND IT STARTS ACTING UP THE SAME WAY BUT WORSE TILL IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FOR ME AT ALL. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW NISSAN SENTRA NOT EVEN 6 MONTHS AFTER OWNING THIS VEHICLE I HAD TO TAKE IT IN FOR REPAIRS FOR WHAT I AM CERTAIN WAS A TRANSMISSION, WELL THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. FEW WEEKS AFTER THAT SAME ISSUE SO I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND THEY SAID OH IT'S THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. WELL A MONTH AFTER THAT SAME PROBLEM, TAKE IT IN AGAIN AND THEY SAY OH IT'S ONLY AN OXYGEN SENSOR I BELIEVE THEY SAID AND REPLACED IT. WELL GUESS WHAT? MONTH LATER I AM DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND 2 YOUNG CHILDREN AGES 11 & 6 ON A VERY BUSY 4 LANE HIGHWAY SUDDENLY SAME EXACT ISSUE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 35 MPH AND THEN STALLS OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY CAUSING MY FAMILY TO LITERALLY MISS GETTING REAR ENDED BY A SEMI BY MAYBE A FOOT, AGAIN I WAS NEARLY CERTAIN IT'S THE TRANSMISSION HAVE IT TOWED THERE AND AGAIN THEY SAY NO, THIS TIME IT'S THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAVE WROTE CORPORATE, MY LOCAL DEALER SHIP AND ALL THEY KEEP SAYING IS THE WARRANTY IS NOW UP, HOWEVER, IF THE PROBLEM PERSIST THE WILL COVER IT. I AM LITERALLY PETRIFIED TO PUT MY FAMILY BACK IN THIS 🍋 LEMON AND NOW IT LITERALLY SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY REMINDING OF WHAT A POOR BRAND IS. BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND FOR 2 YEARS IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP HALF A DOZEN TIMES OR MORE FOR THE SAME ISSUE THAT THEY KEEP SAYING IS SOMETHING ELSE WHEN I AM CERTAIN IT IS THE TRANSMISSION, SO I AM STUCK WITH A LEMON AND THE PAYMENTS ON A LEMON THAT MYSELF NOR MY WIFE ARE COMFORTABLE DRIVING FOR FEAR OF THE NEXT CLOSE CALL WITH A SEMI BECOMING REALITY THANKS NISSAN FOR REFUSING TO ADMIT IT'S THE TRANSMISSION AND REPLACING EVERY PART IN THE CAR BUT THE TRANSMISSION.

SO WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 20 MPH I HAVE TO LET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD TO A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. OUR SENTRA HAS A CVT. IT CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 7,500 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ON THREE (3) OCCASIONS, THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TO UPSHIFT AS WE MOVED AWAY FROM A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. AT 30 MPH OR LESS, THE TACH IS AT 4,000 RPM. WE HAVE TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT THE TRANS SELECTION LEVER IN PARK AND THEN RESTART OUR JOURNEY. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHO TOLD US THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM......NO COMPUTER ERROR OR MALFUNCTION. WE CONTACTED NISSAN USA AND WERE TOLD THE SAME THING. THE TRANSMISSION OF THE COMPUTER CONTROLLING IT HAS A PROBLEM. DATES OF PROBLEMS: 3/20/2016; 5/20/2016; 5/25/2016
