TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED DRIVING TO HIS DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANIFOLD GASKET NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.

THEIR IS A CURRENT RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM FOR THE GAUGE READING INCORRECTLY AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. MY TRUCK IS HAVING THAT ISSUE, BUT MY VIN SHOWS NOT TO BE UNDER THAT RECALL. I AM ALSO HAVING ENGINE PROBLEMS THAT I ALSO BELIEVE TO BE DUE TO A FAILING FUEL PUMP OR POSSIBLY ONE OF THE OTHER MANY PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE PERFORMANCE ON THIS MODEL TITAN. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE RECALL FOR THE FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERING MY VEHICLE , I HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY NISSAN TITAN SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND ABSOLUTELY NO HELP FROM NISSAN TO FIX FAULTY PARTS, INCLUDING THE VALVE COVER THAT IF CLOGGED WILL ALLOW ENGINE OIL DOWN INTO THE VALVES AND CYLINDER AND CAUSE SMOKING PROBLEM, AND EVENTUALLY RUIN THE ENGINE CYLINDER. MY TITAN WILL NOT TAKE FUEL AND STARTS STALING OUT AT 2000 RPM CAUSING ME TO ALMOST BE IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS ALREADY. ALL VEHICLES WITH PARTS THAT ARE BEING RECALLED SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. NISSAN SHOULD'NT BE ABLE TO PIC AND CHOOSE WHO GETS COVERED, THEY SHOULD MAN UP AND FIX THEIR CHEAP PARTS WHEN THEY FAIL.

CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD FOUND BY DEALER ON AN INSPECTION BUT HAS BEEN CRACKED FOR SEVERAL YEARS. WHEN I RESEARCHED THE CRACK I FOUND IT TO BE AN ISSUE WITH NO RECALL.

FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS, I'VE SPENT OVER $3,000 DIAGNOSING AND "FIXING" ERRONEOUS WARNING LIGHTS. THIS PAST WEEK, MY TRUCK (2005 TITAN) WOULD NOT START. THE FIRST TIME, IT JUST CRANKED THE STARTER, BUT WOULD NOT ENGAGE. NOW, I CAN TURN THE IGNITION TO START AND THE STARTER WON'T EVEN ENGAGE (NO "CLICKING" NOISE, NO NOISE WHATSOEVER). IT WILL START AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, BUT I HAVE TO WAIT AT LEAST 2-3 MINUTES BETWEEN EACH ATTEMPT. I'VE REPLACED THE ECM (AT MY OWN EXPENSE) AND IT STILL DOES NOT START PROPERLY. IT APPEARS (FROM READING ONLINE POSTS IN TITAN FORUMS) THAT THE ISSUE IS THE IPDM (INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE). THE SYMPTOMS ALL LINE UP. I FEEL LUCKY THAT MY ENGINE HAS NOT COMPLETELY STOPPED WHILE DRIVING (YET). THIS IS AN UTTER HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE BECAUSE NISSAN WILL NOT ADDRESS THE IPDM PROBLEM AND RECALL/REPLACE THOSE THAT ARE FAULTY.

THIS HAS HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC MANY TIMES WITH THESE FAILURES. THIS CREATES A HAZARDOUS SITUATION. I NEVER KNOW WHEN THIS FAILURE IS GOING TO OCCUR. 2005 NISSAN TITAN 121K MILES. CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD CAUSING A EXHAUST LEAK. THERE IS A STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CAB WHEN TRAVELING AT SLOWER SPEEDS (UNDER 35MPH). IT HAS BEEN SO BAD AT TIMES IT MAKES YOU LIGHT HEADED AND SICK TO YOUR STOMACH. THIS COULD CAUSE SOMEONE TO PASS OUT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THEM TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE. DEFIANTLY A SAFETY HAZARD! ALSO CAUSING A DECREASE IN GAS MILEAGE AS WELL AS A LOUD KNOCKING/PUFFING NOISE UPON ACCELERATION. MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF UNDER THE 8 YEAR 80,000 MILE EMISSIONS WARRANTY . THE ONLY PROBLEM IS MANY PEOPLE ( INCLUDING MYSELF ) ARE PAST THE 8 YEARS EVEN THOUGH WAY UNDER THE MILEAGE . MY TRUCK IS PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW INSIDE AND OUT AND HAS BEEN SPARINGLY USED AND STILL NOW I HAVE HARMFUL EXHAUST FUMES LEAKING OUT AND THE TRUCK IS ROBBED OF POWER .

THESE ARE A SAFETY CONCERN AS I CAN SMELL THE EXHAUST GAS AROUND THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK, INSTEAD OF IT BEING PROPERLY TRANSFERRED OUT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AS DESIGNED. NISSAN IS NOT SUPPORTING THE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT WHICH SHOULD BE FREE. THE REPAIR COST ARE IN THE THOUSANDS NOT ACCEPTABLE WHEN IT IS NISSAN POOR DESIGN ALL ALL TRUCKS WITH THESE MANIFOLDS ARE AFFECTED.

THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE FAULTY AND CRACK ALLOWING DEADLY CARBON MONOXIDE EXHAUST GASES TO ENTER THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. THIS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONSCIOUSNESS AND CRASH. IT WAS ONLY AFTER MY 6TH LONG ROAD TRIP (3+ HOURS DRIVING) DID I DISCOVER I WAS BEING POISONED BY CARBON MONOXIDE. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO AN EXHAUST REPAIR COMPANY AND AS SOON AS I MENTIONED MY VEHICLE THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME HE WAS 99% SURE I HAD A CRACKED MANIFOLD. HE LATER CONFIRMED THIS WITH A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH REVEALED BOTH MANIFOLDS CRACKED AND LEAKING EXHAUST FUMES INTO THE CAB. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED ME JUST SITTING IN A PARKING LOT! I THOUGHT I WAS JUST GETTING BAD HEADACHES FROM THE LONG DRIVE AND MY NAUSEA WAS FROM THE EXTREME HEADACHES. AFTER THIS HAPPENING SO MANY TIMES I KNEW THERE HAD TO BE MORE TO THIS. THINK ABOUT SOMEBODY DRIVING, BEING POISONED TO THE POINT TO WHERE THEY PULL OFF THE ROAD TO REST AND TRY TO SLEEP OFF THEIR HEADACHE IN A RUNNING VEHICLE TO STAY WARM AND END UP DYING. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS. I DON'T WANT A NEW DEFECTIVE MANIFOLD, I WANT A FIX!

THE PROBLEM IS YOU GET IT FIXED AND THEY PUT THE SAME PART BACK ON THAT CRACKS AGAIN BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T CHANGED THE DESIGN. THERE ARE 3 OTHER TITANS IN MY TOWN AND ALL OF US HAVE THE SAME STORY. ALSO THE SWAY BAR MOUNT ON ALL OF OURS ARE BROKE WITCH RESULTS IN VERY POOR HANDLING. I HOPE IT CAN BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENS. THANK YOU.

AFTER CALLING AROUND WE DETERMINED THRU A NISSAN SERVICE ADVISOR THAT WE SHOULD TRY FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS, EVEN THOUGH I WAS TELLING HIM IT READ BETWEEN A QUARTER AND HALF A TANK. AFTER PUTTING IN 5 GALLONS AND TURNING THE KEY AND CRANKING IT A FEW SECONDS, IT STARTED RIGHT UP. IT HAS DONE THIS AT VARIOUS TIMES SINCE THIS FIRST OCCURRENCE AND CONTINUES TO VARY. I NOW HAVE TO KEEP NO LESS THAN HALF A TANK OF GAS AT ALL TIMES OR I WILL SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND HAVE TO PULL OFF. IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED THAT THE MAJORITY OF OWNERS OF TITANS HAVE, HAD OR WILL HAVE THE ISSUE OF A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS AN EXHAUST LEAK COULD INTRODUCE CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE CABIN AREA WITH IS LETHAL. THERE ARE FORUMS THAT THIS ISSUE IS DISCUSSED WELL IN DETAIL REQUIRING THE OWNER TO FOOT THE BILL FOR REPLACEMENT AT A PRICE AROUND $2500.00. IF YOU CONTACT NISSAN, THEY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT IS A DEFECT, EXCEPT IN REALITY THEY KNOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE MADE SUBSEQUENT CHANGES ON NEWER MODELS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. AFTER HAVING IPDM MODULE REPLACED (CAMPAIGN NUMBER 10V517000), THE SES LIGHT SHOWED BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WITHIN A FEW THOUSAND MILES. THE IPDM MODULE FAILED BEFORE BEING REPLACED AND IT CAUSED RAW FUEL TO BE DUMPED ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WHICH CAUSED THEM TO FAIL. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF FAILED CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WHEN THEIR FAULTY PART CAUSED THE DAMAGE. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR ($2,800). AFTER LOOKING AT FORUMS ON THE INTERNET, I SEE MANY PEOPLE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TITAN CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND HAVING THEM FAIL BEFORE THE VEHICLE REACHES 100K MILES. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED MY LOCAL DEALER TO CHECK FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED AND THEY KEPT MY TRUCK FOR A WEEK AND CHANGED THE BATTERY TERMINALS--FOR $400 INSTEAD OF CHECKING THE $4.00 RELAY.
