ON 3/26/14, I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65MPH WHEN I LOST USE OF THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL, BARELY AVOIDING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. TODAY FOUND OUT THERE IS A DEFECT WITH NISSAN RADIATORS OVER HEATING AND CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION, DETERIORATING THE GEARS OVER TIME. WHILE DOING A LIQUIDS CHECK I NOTICED THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS LOW. I ADDED DISTILLED WATER TO THE RADIATOR AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH TO LOOK FOR A LEAK. I FOUND COOLANT LEAKING FROM THE TRANSMISSION LINE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR. AS I BACKED INTO MY GARAGE, I HEARD THE COOLANT RESERVOIR PRESSURIZE AND START TO OVERFLOW. THE RESERVOIR WAS FILLED WITH TRANNY FLUID. I DRAINED THE TRANSMISSION AND FOUND COOLANT IN THE TRANSMISSION. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY MILES I DROVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION BUT I'M AFRAID THE TRANSMISSION IS DAMAGED AND I CAN'T GET THE COOLANT COMPLETELY OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. I'VE DRAINED AND FILLED IT TWICE SO FAR AND STILL HAVE SIGNS OF COOLANT. I HAVE SINCE, DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH OVER THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF TITAN OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER HOW OLD OR NEW THE TITAN IS, OWNERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. SOME ARE STILL UNDER WARRANTY, SO THEY ARE GETTING A FREE REPAIR, BUT IF IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE, WHY HASN'T A RECALL ALREADY BEEN ISSUED? AFTER HAVING IPDM MODULE REPLACED (CAMPAIGN NUMBER 10V517000), THE SES LIGHT SHOWED BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WITHIN A FEW THOUSAND MILES. THE IPDM MODULE FAILED BEFORE BEING REPLACED AND IT CAUSED RAW FUEL TO BE DUMPED ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WHICH CAUSED THEM TO FAIL. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF FAILED CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WHEN THEIR FAULTY PART CAUSED THE DAMAGE. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR ($2,800). AFTER LOOKING AT FORUMS ON THE INTERNET, I SEE MANY PEOPLE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TITAN CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND HAVING THEM FAIL BEFORE THE VEHICLE REACHES 100K MILES. THE DEALER SAID THE STALLING WAS DUE TO A RECALL, NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V517000. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS UNTIL THIS RECALL ISSUE. SINCE MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD ARE ONE PIECE, IT COST $2,827.28 TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AND I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THIS, SINCE THIS PROBLEM STEMMED FROM THEIR RECALL ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO I STARTED HEARING A TICKING NOISE ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN PU AT START UP. COULDN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS UNTIL NISSAN SENT ME AN OWNER NOTIFICATION CARD ABOUT CRACKS IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. THEN IT DAWNED ON ME WHAT THAT TICKING NOISE WAS WHEN COLD START UP TOOK PLACE. I HAD THE VEHICLE RECENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR 2 OTHER RECALLS AND MENTIONED THIS ALONG WITH THE NOTICE I RECEIVED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FROM NISSAN. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT BUT WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAD 83,400 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND WARRANTY ISSUES ONLY WOULD FIX THIS UP TO 80,000 MILES. I HAVEN'T EVER HAD A EXHAUST CRACK ON ANY VEHICLE THAT I HAVE OWNED SINCE 1972 AND HAD SOME OF THESE VEHICLE TO UPWARD OF 250,000 MILES. WHY WON'T NISSAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS TO FIX THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS ALL OF THEM THAT CRACK. SEEMS TO ME FOR SAFETY ISSUES AND EXHAUST FUMES THAT SHOULD BE ROUTED TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE ARE NOW BEING PUSHED INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND NOT EVEN GETTING TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. DURING THE SUMMER OF 2006, I BEGAN TO NOTICE A MUSTY ODOR EMITTING FROM THE FLOOR AND CARPETING OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND REQUESTED THE MECHANIC TO INSPECT THE TRUCK FOR THE CAUSE OF THE ODOR. THEY COULDN'T LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE ODOR. I RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS, DURING THE SUMMER OF 2007 ODOR REAPPEARED; THEY REPLACED THE RUBBER GASKET AROUND DOOR WINDOWS IN HOPES OF RESOLVING THE ISSUE. MEANWHILE THE FRONT BRAKES ROTORS WERE REPLACED AGAIN AND THE GAUGES (FUEL, OIL, TACH ,VOLTMETER) ACTING ERRATICALLY. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE BRAKES UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY & PRORATED MY PURCHASE OF A NEW NISSAN AUTO BATTERY; ACCORDING TO SERVICE DEPT. THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE GAUGES MALFUNCTION. THEN AGAIN IN2008, I WAS TOLD THE BRAKES WERE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT THE MUSTY ODOR WAS CAUSED BY WATER COMING INTO THE CABIN VIA A SMALL VOID IN THE WINDOW SEALANT AROUND THE "FACTORY INSTALLED WINDSHIELD' UPON HEARING THIS, I CHOSE TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO ANOTHER MECHANIC DUE TO NISSAN MECHANIC INABILITY TO RESOLVE THE BRAKE ISSUE & LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE WATER. THIS YEAR 2009, THE REAR END WAS REPAIRED DUE THE SEALS LEAKING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PREVENTIVE REPLACEMENT ON THE PASSENGER SEALS. HOWEVER, A FEW OLD ISSUES ALONG WITH NEW ONES THAT STILL EXIST. MY NEW MECHANIC TOLD ME THE SOURCE OF THE WATER & ODOR ISSUE IS THE A/C CONDENSER LEAKING INTO THE CABIN, THE BLINKING AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT WAS DUE TO A HARNESS NEEDING REPLACING IN THE REAR DOORS. *TR

2005 NISSAN TITAN WITH A HOST OF SERIOUS ISSUES, OF COURSE THERE WAS THE BRAKE PROBLEM, RADIO WOULDN'T SHUT OFF AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS WEAK. THEN THE TIRES WERE BALD AT 25K THE LATEST PROBLEM IS A RATTLING OF THE ENGINE VALVES, TOOK IT THE DEALER AND THE ACKNOWLEDGED THE NOISE BUT SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNTIL IT TRIPPED A WARNING LIGHT. *JB
THE 2005 NISSAN TITAN TRUCK I OWNED WAS BEING DRIVEN AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE INSURANCE PAID OFF THE LOAN. NISSAN CLAIMED NO RESPONSIBILITY AND DID NOT OFFER ME ANY COMPENSATION. *NM

ON 03/27/2006 DRIVING TO WORK IN MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN [XXX] PICKUP ACCELERATED ON ITS ON. I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT MERGING IN TO TRAFFIC WHEN IT ACCELERATED FORWARD BY IT SELF AND WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WHEN THIS ACCRUED I TRIED TO PUT IT IN TO NEUTRAL, STILL NOTHING HAPPEN, EVEN WITH BOTH OF MY FEET BARRING DOWN ON THE BRAKE THE TIRES WHERE BURNING RUBBER AND I WAS STILL MOVING SLOWLY FORWARD. FINALLY I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND IT SHUT DOWN, I WAITED A FEW MOMENTS AND TRIED TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN. AT THIS TIME IT DID IT AGAIN AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF AGAIN, WAITED A FEW MORE MINUTES AND TRIED AGAIN, AT THIS TIME IT STARTED CORRECTLY AND I DROVE IT DIRECTLY TO KRAFT NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR THERE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. KRAFT NISSAN TOOK THE AFTERNOON TO LOOK OVER THE TRUCK, AT AROUND 3:01 PM THE SERVICE WRITER CALLED AND SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND MY TRUCK IS READY TO BE PICKED UP. I SAID THAT THE PROBLEM IS REAL AND THAT THEY NEED TO FIND IT, THEY SAID IF PROBLEM CAN'T BE SEEN THEY CAN'T FIX IT. I TALK WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND THEN CALLED NISSAN AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD THE SAME THING. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IF THE PROBLEM HAPPENS AGAIN THEY CAN TRY TO SOLVE AT THAT TIME.
