My vehicle, which I bought used with about 140,000 miles on it had cracked exhaust manifolds, which I replaced. Both were cracked and one actually fell to pieces when unbolted. One replacement cracked after about 15,000 miles, but was able to have it braised. Now, at about 180,000 miles they a spewing carbon monoxide into the cab again. This is a serious health and safety issue, and from checking Titan club web sites, it seems to be a widespread issue. I DO NOT DRIVE OFF ROAD OR SUBJECT THE TRUCK TO ABNORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. So back in October 2023 ,I noticed a lot of things go wrong at once lime the radiator had to be replaced because it was leaking everywhere. The steering went bad and started leaking. The rear main seal started leaking. The clock spring went bad. there isntons of water always in the passenger floorboard and passenger door. The fuel gauge is all over the place and never reads right. The oil pressure gauge always has been on high. The engine light, air bag light slip light, and abs light have always been on. The right rear window stopped going up and the controls on the drivers door sometimes work and sometimes don't. The Manuel shifter has never worked and I cannot put the transmission in 2,3, or 4th gear from a stand still. Always been weird knocking sound in the suspension
The contact's son owns a 2006 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while his son was driving approximately 35-45 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The contact was unsure whether there were any warning lights illuminated. The contact's son was able to restart the vehicle and continued to drive; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to Pep Boys and diagnosed the failure as a vehicle dynamic control switch, acceleration, and power train systems failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the instrument cluster had failed. The dealer was not notified of the failures. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.

I THINK IT WAS IN 2009 WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO NISSAN TO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND LIGHT SMOKE OUT OF EXHAUST. RAN DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND OUT THAT CATALYTIC CONVERTERS BROKE UP AND BROKEN MATERIAL WENT BACK (SUCKBACK) INTO ENGINE AND DAMAGED PISTON RINGS WHICH WAS CAUSING IT TO SMOKE. TOLD ME I NEEDED TO REPLACE ENGINE CAUSE IT WAS PRETTY MUCH NO GOOD. THIS TRUCK WAS 3 YRS. OLD AT THE TIME. WARRANTY WAS OUT AND WAS AND COST ME A FORTUNE TO REPLACE ENGINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM. I HAD NO IDEA TIL NOW HOW MANY 2006 TITAN OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THIS HAS TO BE RECALLED.

I BOUGHT THIS TITAN AT TRI-STATE NISSAN IN WINCHESTER, VA. MY BRAKE ROTOR WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED DUE TO BAD METAL USED - I HAD TO REPLACE THEM AT 30,000 MILES. MY LEFT REAR WHEEL SEAL WAS DEFECTIVE AND STARTED STARTED LEAKING FLUID AT 70,000. HAD TO REPLACE EVEN THOUGH I HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY. CATALYTIC MANIFOLDS WENT BAD AND THEY KNEW IT WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY - BUT THEY DIDN'T REPLACE THEM. PAINT PROBLEM WHEN THE TRUCK IS COLD - BIG GIANT SPOTS IN THE CLEAR COAT. THE MANIFOLDS MANIFOLDS NEED TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE THE EXHAUST IS ENTERING THE VEHICLE.

I DROVE MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN LE TO MCDONALD'S ON ELK STREET WHICH IS LIKE 5 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOUSE WHEN YOU GOT FOOD CAME BACK TO MY HOUSE WHICH IS 1700 SWANSON DRIVE SPACE 43 WHEN INSIDE CAME BACK OUT RADIATOR BLEW OUT THE BOTTOM REPLACED RADIATOR AND THEN TRANSMISSION STARTED GOING OUT ELECTRICAL UNITS RELAYS GOING OUT REPLACED BUT STILL TRUCK IS ACTING UP REALLY BAD I HAVE REPLACED THE RADIATOR TRANSMISSION BRACKET TONS AND TONS OF FLUIDS A BUNCH OF ELECTRICAL FUSES REALLY TIRED OF WORKING ON MY TRUCK TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT AND I DON'T FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS PROBLEM WHEN IT ALL OCCURRED AT ONE TIME I HAVE THIS TRUCKS FINANCED I STILL OWE $17,000 ON IT AND IT BARELY RUNS I WOULD LIKE TO PROCEED ON MAYBE FIGURING OUT A WAY TO HELP ME GET A NEW TRANSMISSION OR GETTING A DIFFERENT VEHICLE.

SO-CALLED "COMMON PROBLEM" WITH TITANS. IMO, THIS PROBLEM MAY POSSIBLY SEND CO2 TO PASSENGERS IF NOT CORRECTED, NOT TO MENTION POOR VEHICLE PERFORMANCE AND POSSIBLE SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE IF NOT CORRECTED. NISSAN SHOULD CERTAINLY INITIATE A RECALL ON THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

ON 05/22/2015, TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT OR NEAR POSTED SPEED IN MILD SUNNY WEATHER. THE TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF IN LANE OF TRAFFIC. THERE WAS NO HESITATION, NOISE, ALARM, WARNING LIGHTS JUST SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. PULLED VEHICLE OVER TO RH SHOULDER AND TRIED TO RESTART IT WITH OUT SUCCESS.ON 05/18/2015, I HAD THE TRUCK SERVICED AND INSPECTED AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN ANTICIPATION OF THIS ROAD TRIP. THE TRUCK PASSED DEALER INSPECTION. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER SERVICE CENTER AND AFTER SEVERAL DAYS THE DEALER TOLD ME THE ECM HAD FAILED AND SHORTED OUT THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE REPAIR BILL WAS A LITTLE OVER $1400. I AM NOT OBJECTING TO THE COST OF REPAIR....I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE TRUCK JUST STOPPING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT WARNING. IF THIS BREAKDOWN WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OR DRIVING LANES OF A NEARBY FREEWAY, OR ON A STEEP INCLINE WITH TURNS THE RESULTS MAY HAVE BEEN VERY BAD. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE SHORT AND FAILURE OF THE ECM WERE A RESULT OF A LEAK IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM (SAME ONE THAT PASSED INSPECTION) AND HEAT SHORTED THE WIRING HARNESS. I FEEL THE WIRING HARNESS MAY BE TOO CLOSE TO THE HEAT OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND COULD HAVE BEEN ISOLATED AS NOT TO CAUSE FAILURE. UPDATED 8/31/15*CN UPDATED 10/23/2017*CN

I WAS 19 DAYS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT ALMOST 23,000 MILES UNDER. THIS IS A PLEASURE USE TRUCK THAT AVERAGES ROUGHLY 7000 MILES PER YEAR AND SOMETIMES ISN'T DRIVEN FOR WEEKS. I HAVE HAD IT SERVICED BY THE DEALERSHIP FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. SOUGHT ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN AMERICA BUT WAS DECLINED WITHOUT EXPLANATION. IT'S CLEAR THAT BOTH DID NOT CRACK AFTER THE EXPIRATION DATE OF THE WARRANTY. IT IS ALSO CLEAR, BASED ON ONLY A FEW MINUTES OF INTERNET RESEARCH, THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD AND WELL PUBLISHED PROBLEM. THE FACT THAT IT WON'T PASS A STATE INSPECTION SPEAKS TO THE DANGER OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY DUE TO EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CABIN. WHY HAVE YOU NOT FORCED A RECALL? THE MANIFOLDS BEING REPLACED HAVE NO DESIGN IMPROVEMENTS TO PREVENT FUTURE FAILURES. NISSAN NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO CORRECT THEIR DESIGN ISSUES. REPLACING FAILED PARTS WITH IDENTICAL PARTS, THAT ARE SURE TO FAIL, IS NOTHING MORE THAN RETALIATION FOR BEING FORCED TO HONOR ANY SORT OF WARRANTY AND A "GOTCHA" TO THE CONSUMER. *TR

NOTICED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, A CLICKING SOUND WHICH BECAME LOUDER WHEN DRIVING. VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER STATED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THEY FIXED IT. SHORTLY AFTER THE OTHER EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED AND THEY FIXED THAT AS WELL. SINCE THEN, THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND EITHER ONE OR BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE CRACKED AGAIN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS GOING TO COST LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR. UNFORTUNATELY, I CAN NOT AFFORD TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I WAS UPSET, BUT WAS WILLING TO ACCEPT THE SITUATION, UNTIL ONE MORNING I GOT A STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. BEING A MECHANIC, I HAD MY HUNCHES. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT ON OCCASION I GET EXHAUST EMISSION IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE ALSO RECENTLY FOUND ONLINE THAT THERE ARE AN ABUNDANT AMOUNT OF OTHER NISSAN TITAN OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME THING. THERE IS ALSO THE POSSIBILITY THAT IF THE LEAK IS AROUND ANY WIRING, THE HOT GAS MAY CAUSE THE WIRING TO MELT CAUSING A POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE. THAT OF COURSE IS JUST AN EDUCATED OPINION. HOW MANY MORE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE TO CRACK BEFORE NISSAN WILL ADMIT THEY ARE A DEFECTIVE DESIGN. IS IT ABOUT THE MONEY TO RECALL THE VEHICLE OR IS IT ABOUT SAFETY AFTER ALL? IN ADDITION, I WOULD HAVE COMPLETED THIS FORM A LOT SOONER, BUT I WAS JUST RECENTLY INFORMED ABOUT IT. WHILE BACKING OUT I NOTICED THE FLICKERING LIGHT IN THE WINDOW COMING WITH ME. WHEN I STOPPED THE TRUCK I NOTICED SMOKE COMING UP OVER MY HOOD THEN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK STARTED TO GET WARM. I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL AND TOLD MY WIFE THAT I THINK MY TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK, WENT TO THE FRONT AND SAW THE CONDENSER FAN MOTOR ON FIRE. I WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH A CAN OF COKE THAT WAS ON THE GROUND. A LITTLE WHILE LATER IT FLAMED UP AGAIN AND HAD TO GET A BUCKET OF WATER FROM THE STORE CLERK. UPON COMPLETION OF THE WORK, WHICH WAS POORLY PERFORMED, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT BOTH OF MY MANIFOLDS WERE CRACKED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WOULD COST ME OVER $2,000 BUT THE DEALER WOULD CUT ME A DEAL FOR $1,700 IF I WANTED TO DO IT RIGHT AWAY AND THEY ALSO THREATENED ME WITH THE FACT THAT I WOULD NOT PASS MY SMOG SO I HAD TO DO IT NOW. I DECLINED AS I COULD NOT AFFORD REPAIRS LIKE THAT. AFTER A SHORT SEARCH ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS WAS A REGULAR ISSUE WITH TITANS BUT WAS NOT SUBMITTED FOR A RECALL. I HAVE ALSO SENT A COMPLAINT TO NISSAN. I AM QUITE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS THE LACK OF SERVICE I HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE DEALER. MY FAMILY AND I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN STRONG SUPPORTERS OF NISSAN AND OWN MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES AND HAVE NEVER HAD ISSUES LIKE THIS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO BE RESOLVED. I WILL CONTINUE TO BUY NISSANS BUT HOPE THAT THIS WILL BE REVIEWED AND CLAIMED AS A RECALL. I CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIRS AS MY HUSBAND AND I ARE BOTH CURRENTLY UNEMPLOYED WITH 4 CHILDREN AND THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE WHICH WE CAN NO LONGER DRIVE BECAUSE WE CANNOT HAVE IT SMOGGED TO RENEW REGISTRATION. THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THE MANIFOLDS HAD BEEN CRACKED FOR SOME TIME PRIOR TO THE VISIT TO THE DEALER. WE HAD ALWAYS TAKEN OUR TRUCK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE WE HAD PURCHASED A GOLD PACKAGE FOR MAINTENANCE AND I HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT NOISE BEFORE AND THEY COULD NEVER FIND A PROBLEM. IT FIGURES THAT AS SOON AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WOULD MAGICALLY FIND THE ISSUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 135,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. DRIVING CROSS COUNTRY IN NISSAN TITAN. TRUCK FLOOR GOT HOT AT ONE POINT. LATER TRUCK SPUTTERED AND SHUT ITSELF DOWN. I LET IT COOL DOWN AND IT DROVE FINE FOR A WHILE. NEXT DAY ALL OF US IN THE CAR WERE A LITTLE SICK AND NAUSEATED. CAR DROVE FINE THE REST OF THE TRIP AND IT WASN'T UNTIL AFTER WE ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINATION THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME UP. LOOKED UP THE CODES WHICH WERE THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAD LOSS EFFICIENCY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEAL FOR A COMPLETE DIAGNOSIS. DEALER CONFIRMED ALL 4 CAT CONVERTERS WERE DEAD AND IT PROBABLY CAUSED BY A LEAK IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. FURTHER RESEARCH SHOWS THAT NISSAN TITANS HAVE A HISTORY OF CRACKS IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THIS NOT ONLY RUINS THE CAT CONVERTERS BUT EXHAUST FUMES LEAK INTO THE CABIN CAUSING A HEALTH RISK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT THIS BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM YET. *TR

CONSUMER STATES SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE AND RECALL ISSUES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY, SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. IT WOULD TAKE EXTREME FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT, AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER FAN MOTOR, ENGINE CONTROL MODULE RELAY, INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE ALL MALFUNCTIONED. ALSO, THE LOWER CONTROL LINKS THAT ATTACHED TO THE CHASSIS MOUNTING FAILED.
