So back in October 2023 ,I noticed a lot of things go wrong at once lime the radiator had to be replaced because it was leaking everywhere. The steering went bad and started leaking. The rear main seal started leaking. The clock spring went bad. there isntons of water always in the passenger floorboard and passenger door. The fuel gauge is all over the place and never reads right. The oil pressure gauge always has been on high. The engine light, air bag light slip light, and abs light have always been on. The right rear window stopped going up and the controls on the drivers door sometimes work and sometimes don't. The Manuel shifter has never worked and I cannot put the transmission in 2,3, or 4th gear from a stand still. Always been weird knocking sound in the suspension
The contact's son owns a 2006 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while his son was driving approximately 35-45 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The contact was unsure whether there were any warning lights illuminated. The contact's son was able to restart the vehicle and continued to drive; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to Pep Boys and diagnosed the failure as a vehicle dynamic control switch, acceleration, and power train systems failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the instrument cluster had failed. The dealer was not notified of the failures. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.

I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY TRANSFER CASE 2 TIMES, MY FRONT DRIVE SIDE HUB ASSEMBLY 2 TIMES IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS. I HAVE REPLACE FRONT AXLE AND AND REAR. NOW MY PASSENGER SIDE LEAKS OUT FROM UNDER THE GLOVE BOX EVERY TIME IT RAINS INTO MY FLOOR KEEPING IT WET. JUST YESTERDAY MY TRANSMISSION WENT ITNO LIMP MODE AND I KNOW IT CAN BE A NUMBER OF THINGS . I LOOK AT THE 04 THRU 07 TITANS AND THEY HAVE A LOT OF ISSUES LIKE HAVE BUT HAVEN'T LISTED THEM ALL, BUT THE ISSUES IAM HAVING ARE NOT ON RECALL LIST FOR MY 2006, BUT ARE FOR THE OTHER YEARS??? THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP DROPPING $ INTO IT. BACK DRIVER WINDOW MOTOR STOPPED AND WINDOW FELL AND BROKE, MANIFOLD TICKING IS A RECALL FOR THE 2005, BUT NOT MY 2006. I COULD KEEP GOING BUT I AM GETTING SO FRUSTRATED. I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 45 MHP WHEN IT JUST WENT INTO LIMP MODE, SO I PULLED OVER TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON THEN IT WOULD WORK FOR ABOUT 3 MIN. STOP DO IT AGAIN TO GET HOME. IT WILL GO INTO GEAR, AND THE RPM'S REV AND GO UP ,BUT I AM NOT GETTING VERY FAR AT ALL. MY TRANS FLUID IS GOOD. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. ALL FUSES ARE GOOD AND CODES RESET AND IT STILL GOES LIMP MODE.

REAR END LOCKED UP AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. OVER THE YEARS, THE REAR SEALS WOULD CONSTANTLY LEAK AND WERE REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAS USUALLY BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION DURING OIL CHANGES/INSPECTIONS. I GUESS THEY DIDNT CATCH IT LEAKING AND CAUSED MY REAR END TO LOCK UP WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I WAS HEADING TO WORK AROUND 4-5 AM IN THE MORNING AND ALL MY LIGHTS ON MY TRUCK CAME ON KIND OF FELT LIKE I BLEW A TIRE AND STARTED PULLING VERY HARD. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD RATHER QUICKLY AND HAD IT TOWED. I KNOW PLENTY OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUES WITH THE EARLY MODEL NISSAN TITANS. BESIDES THAT THOUGH I HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH MY TITAN. I HAVE OVER 500K MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. FYI THIS HAPPENED YEARS BACK BUT I WAS READING A FORUM THAT WE SHOULD TRY TO GET THIS RECALLED AND IT DID COST ME ALOT TO HAVE THE REAR END FIXED.

TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN STUCK IN 4TH GEAR WHILE IN DRIVE. IT. WILL SWITCH INTO PARK, REVERSE AND NEUTRAL. WHEN THE TRUCK IS PUT ON THE COMPUTER THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES SHOWING THAT WOULD REQUIRE REPAIR THEREFORE NISSAN REFUSES TO SUBMIT ANY DOCUMENTATION HIGHER TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITH THIS STANDARD TRANSMISSION IN ALL OF THEIR VEHICLES. ON A SIDE NOTE, I'VE HAD 2 OTHER NISSANS WITH A CENTRAL VARIABLE TRANSMISSION THAT HAVE ALL DONE THIS AS WELL. I'VE SINCE BEEN ABLE TO GET RID OF THOSE VEHICLES, BUT I AM STUCK WITH THIS ONE.

I BOUGHT THIS TITAN AT TRI-STATE NISSAN IN WINCHESTER, VA. MY BRAKE ROTOR WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED DUE TO BAD METAL USED - I HAD TO REPLACE THEM AT 30,000 MILES. MY LEFT REAR WHEEL SEAL WAS DEFECTIVE AND STARTED STARTED LEAKING FLUID AT 70,000. HAD TO REPLACE EVEN THOUGH I HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY. CATALYTIC MANIFOLDS WENT BAD AND THEY KNEW IT WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY - BUT THEY DIDN'T REPLACE THEM. PAINT PROBLEM WHEN THE TRUCK IS COLD - BIG GIANT SPOTS IN THE CLEAR COAT. THE MANIFOLDS MANIFOLDS NEED TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE THE EXHAUST IS ENTERING THE VEHICLE.

REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS LEAKING GEAR OIL OUT OF BOTH ENDS OF MY RWD TRUCK. CONTACTED NISSAN DEALER AND THEY REFERRED ME TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. FILED A CLAIM AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY SO THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN TITAN TRUCKS, PARTICULARLY BETWEEN MODELS YEARS 2004-2006. I HAVE NEVER TOWED WITH THIS TRUCK AND HAVE CHANGED THE GEAR OIL FREQUENTLY. ALSO, I HAVE REPLACED THE BREATHER PERIODICALLY AS WELL. NOW THE FLUID IS FLOWING OUT WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
I DROVE MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN LE TO MCDONALD'S ON ELK STREET WHICH IS LIKE 5 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOUSE WHEN YOU GOT FOOD CAME BACK TO MY HOUSE WHICH IS 1700 SWANSON DRIVE SPACE 43 WHEN INSIDE CAME BACK OUT RADIATOR BLEW OUT THE BOTTOM REPLACED RADIATOR AND THEN TRANSMISSION STARTED GOING OUT ELECTRICAL UNITS RELAYS GOING OUT REPLACED BUT STILL TRUCK IS ACTING UP REALLY BAD I HAVE REPLACED THE RADIATOR TRANSMISSION BRACKET TONS AND TONS OF FLUIDS A BUNCH OF ELECTRICAL FUSES REALLY TIRED OF WORKING ON MY TRUCK TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT AND I DON'T FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS PROBLEM WHEN IT ALL OCCURRED AT ONE TIME I HAVE THIS TRUCKS FINANCED I STILL OWE $17,000 ON IT AND IT BARELY RUNS I WOULD LIKE TO PROCEED ON MAYBE FIGURING OUT A WAY TO HELP ME GET A NEW TRANSMISSION OR GETTING A DIFFERENT VEHICLE.

AFTER MANY, MANY HOURS OF RESEARCH ONLINE TO FIND A RECALL ON THE NOTORIOUS REAR END AXLE PROBLEM WITH THE 2004, 2005, AND SOME 2006 NISSAN TITAN'S THERE IS LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING AND NISSAN HAS YET TO PUT A RECALL OUT DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THEIR REAR ENDS IN THESE PICK-UPS. THE PROBLEM IS THE REAR AXLE SEALS GOING BAD. THE PROBLEM STARTS AT THE TOP OF THE REAR END WITH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE VENTILATION SYSTEM ALLOWS MOISTURE AND WATER TO ENTER THE REAR END ASSEMBLY WHICH CAUSES THE AXLE SEALS TO LEAK WHICH THEN IN TURNS GEAR OIL LEAKING ALL OVER THE REAR BRAKES, WHICH IN TURN LEAKS ON TO THE HIGHWAY. THE FIRST SET OF SEALS COST ME ALMOST $1,200 I AM ON MY 3RD SET OF SEALS, AND THEY ARE LEAKING AGAIN. I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK FOR 3 YEARS AND THE VEHICLE HAS 136,XXX ON IT. THE FIRST SET OF SEALS WENT AT UNDER 20,000 MILES. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM DUE TO THE FACT OF THE REAR END GEAR OIL LEAKING ONTO THE REAR BRAKES AND OUR HIGHWAYS. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT A RECALL ON THESE REAR ENDS OF THESE VEHICLES, BEFORE SOMEONE'S LIFE IS TAKEN UNEXPECTEDLY.

ON 05/22/2015, TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT OR NEAR POSTED SPEED IN MILD SUNNY WEATHER. THE TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF IN LANE OF TRAFFIC. THERE WAS NO HESITATION, NOISE, ALARM, WARNING LIGHTS JUST SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. PULLED VEHICLE OVER TO RH SHOULDER AND TRIED TO RESTART IT WITH OUT SUCCESS.ON 05/18/2015, I HAD THE TRUCK SERVICED AND INSPECTED AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN ANTICIPATION OF THIS ROAD TRIP. THE TRUCK PASSED DEALER INSPECTION. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER SERVICE CENTER AND AFTER SEVERAL DAYS THE DEALER TOLD ME THE ECM HAD FAILED AND SHORTED OUT THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE REPAIR BILL WAS A LITTLE OVER $1400. I AM NOT OBJECTING TO THE COST OF REPAIR....I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE TRUCK JUST STOPPING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT WARNING. IF THIS BREAKDOWN WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OR DRIVING LANES OF A NEARBY FREEWAY, OR ON A STEEP INCLINE WITH TURNS THE RESULTS MAY HAVE BEEN VERY BAD. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE SHORT AND FAILURE OF THE ECM WERE A RESULT OF A LEAK IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM (SAME ONE THAT PASSED INSPECTION) AND HEAT SHORTED THE WIRING HARNESS. I FEEL THE WIRING HARNESS MAY BE TOO CLOSE TO THE HEAT OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND COULD HAVE BEEN ISOLATED AS NOT TO CAUSE FAILURE. UPDATED 8/31/15*CN UPDATED 10/23/2017*CN

HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT I HAD AN INTERMIX OF COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID. THEY STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY SEE AND THAT NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 80,000 MILES BUT I AM NOT COVERED. THEY QUOTED ME $8700 TO REPAIR. SPOKE TO A FEW TRANSMISSION SHOPS AND THEY ALL INDICATED THAT THEY ENCOURAGE THEIR NISSAN CLIENTS TO BYPASS THE INTERNAL TRANNY COOLER IN THE RADIATOR WITH AN EXTERNAL ON WHEN THEY REACH 80,000 MILES. THEY SAID THE COST TO DO THIS IS LESS THAN $300.00. NISSAN KNOWS OF THIS AND EVEN LOST A CLASS ACTION SUIT BUT HAS NEVER INFORMED ANYONE. FOR A $300 FIX I AM NOW OUT A TRUCK AND OR $9000.00!!!! TRAVELING 20 TO 25 MPH, UP A HILL, IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE ROAD CONDITIONS WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD "BANG". THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED TO THE RIGHT, STRIKING A TREE. NEVER WOULD YOU EXPECT A VEHICLE TO BRAKE IN SUCH A WAY AS TO THROW YOU INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I BELIEVE THAT THIS DEFECT SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY INVESTIGATED AND A RECALL ISSUED. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL AND TRANSFER CASE HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE FRONT AXLE HAD BACKED OUT RESULTING IN FLUID LEAKING OUT. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN DEFECT THAT HAD BEEN REDESIGNED. *TR

SITTING OVERNIGHT WITH TEMPERATURE IN THE 40'S, WHEN PUTTING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION INTO DRIVE,IT WOULD KEEP DROPPING OUT OF GEAR. THE TRUCK DROVE FINE WHEN MANUALLY SHIFTING THROUGH THE GEARS. PROBLEM CONTINUED FOR MOST OF A YEAR BUT DID NOT GENERATE AN ERROR CODE. FINALLY DEVELOPED AN ERROR CODE INDICATING PROBLEM IN FIRST GEAR OF THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY WITH TCM. THIS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF VALVE BODY INTERNAL TO THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH HAD BEEN CONTAMINATED BY AN UNDETECTABLE RADIATOR TO TRANS COOLER LEAK ALSO REQUIRING THE RADIATOR TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM, FOR WHICH NISSAN HAS DONE NOTHING, OTHER THAN PUTTING A SPECIAL COATING ON BOLTS INTERNAL TO THE TRANSMISSION TO DETECT THE PRESENCE OF COOLANT. THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. IT COULD BE EASILY PREVENT BY THE INSTALLATION OF A SEPARATE TRANSMISSION COOLER. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER HAVING NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. NUMBERS REMEDIED ON THE VEHICLE 10V074000 (FUEL SYSTEM) AND 10V517000 (ENGINE). AFTER THE VEHICLE WERE REPAIRED THE POWER TRAIN WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE DEALERS PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT DISPLAYED A DEFECT TO THE FRONT BRAKE SOLENOID. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE POWER TRAIN DEFECT. I AM A MECHANIC MYSELF AND THERE IS NO WAY THAT PIECES FROM THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT INSIDE AN ENCLOSED REAR HOUSING ASSEMBLY. THEY TOLD ME I NEED MY ENTIRE REAR AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED ALONG WITH OTHER PIECES FOR THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY AND REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS. I THEN TOOK THE TRUCK TO AN OPEN FIELD AND PUSHED THE BRAKE AND THE GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME AND THE TIRES JUST SPUN AND THE TRUCK DID NOT MOVE. I TRIED THE SAME THING IN AN EMPTY PARKING LOT, THE TIRES SPUN AND THE TRUCK DID NOT MOVE. I ENDED UP GETTING RID OF THE TRUCK BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID IF THE TRUCK SPED FORWARD ON ITS OWN AGAIN AND I COULD NOT STOP IT I MIGHT GET HURT OR KILLED. I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN TITAN 4WD. LAST YEAR, AFTER A LONG TRIP, I TOOK IT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE, AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE REAR AXEL WAS LEAKING. THIS WAS IN JULY OF 2008, AND THE VEHICLE HAD 48,813 MILES ON IT. I GOT IT FIXED. THEN 11 MONTHS LATER, AGAIN AFTER A LONG TRIP, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS WAS IN JUNE OF 2009, AND THE VEHICLE HAD 63,914 MILES ON IT. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, AND APPARENTLY IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT IS HAPPENING TO A LARGE NUMBER OF NISSAN TITAN OWNERS. EVER SINCE I BOUGHT MY TITAN (3-3-06) I NOTICED A WHINING NOISE AT SPEED WHEN I LET OFF OF THE GAS. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS TIRE NOISE. WELL ON NOVEMBER 15, 2006 I NOTICED A REAL BAD GRINDING/WHINING NOISE WHEN I DECELERATED. THERE WAS ONLY 6900 MILES ON THE TRUCK. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A MECHANIC RODE WITH ME UP THE STREET AND BACK AND SAID THAT MY TRUCK HAD PROBLEMS. I LEFT THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP OVERNIGHT AND THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE REAR END. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT MY TRUCK HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE I EVEN BOUGHT IT AND THAT THE WHINING NOISE I ALWAYS HEARD WAS THE REAR END AND NOT THE TIRES. *NM

I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN A CITY STREET APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, WHEN A LOUD, BANGING, CLANKING NOISE ERUPTED FROM THE REAR END. THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE REAR TIRES MOMENTARILY SEIZED UP PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO A SKID, WHICH I WAS ABLE TO CORRECT. THE REAR END THEN BEGAN TO FREE WHEEL AND I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONLY BY TEMPORARILY PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO 4WD WAS I ABLE TO GET SAFELY OFF THE ROADWAY. I HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. TRUCK IS UNDER WARRANTY WITH NISSAN. DEALER DIAGNOSED A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND REPLACED ENTIRE REAR AXLE UNDER WARRANTY. *JB

THE REAR AXLE SEALS ON THE NISSAN TITAN YEARS 2004-CURRENT HAVE A SEVERE AND PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH LEAKING. I HAVE HAD MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN IN THE SHOP ONCE TO REPLACE THE RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL AT 18,000 MILES AND NOW AT 20,000 MILES IT IS LEAKING AGAIN. THE LOCATION OF THE LEAK IS WHAT WORRIES ME. WHEN THE AXLE SEAL FAILS, IT SPRAYS GEAR OIL ON THE BRAKE COMPONENTS (ROTORS, CALIPERS, PADS) AND I AM WORRIED THAT THE PADS WILL BECOME CONTAMINATED AND NOT WORK EFFECTIVELY WHEN TO STOP MY TRUCK IN CASE OF A SUDDEN STOP. *NM

INCIDENT OCCURRED DURING NORMAL USE OF A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. NO SUSPENSION OR DRIVE LINE MODIFICATIONS. THE DIFFERENTIAL FAILED WHEN TURNING RIGHT ONTO A BUSY STREET. THERE WAS A LOUD BANG THEN A GRINDING SOUND. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT DRIVE AFTER THAT. EVERY TIME I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE TRUCK WOULD JUST GRIND AND NOT MOVE. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO ROYAL MOORE AUTO CENTER IN HILLSBORO, OR. WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN LOOKED AT THE TRUCK THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THE DIFFERENTIAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN HE MADE THE ORDER HE SAID NISSAN WOULD NOT GIVE HIM A DELIVERY DATE FOR THE PART BECAUSE IT WAS BACK ORDERED. IT'S BEEN A WEEK AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR PART DELIVERY OR REPAIR. *NM

THE VDC [VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL] KEPT SHUTTING OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE TO REGULATE MOTION AND SPEED OF THE 4 WHEELS. THE VDC WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON WITH THE VDC DASH BUTTON. THE DEALER STATED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BEARINGS HAD FAILED AND THE TITAN WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT'S BEEN AT THE DEALER WAITING FOR A NEW REAR DIFFERENTIAL FOR 2 WEEKS. THE TRUCK WAS NOT DELIVERED WITH THE POWER FOLDING - AUTO DIM EXTERIOR MIRRORS; THE XM RADIOS DID NOT WORK; BED EXTENDER NOT INSTALLED; GAS TANK WASN'T FULL AS PROMISED. *JB

HAD TO THREATEN TO PARK TRUCK IN THEIR SHOWROOM THROUGH THE WINDOW TO GET THEM TO EVEN LOOK AT IT. WHEN THEY DID THEY KEPT THE TRUCK FOR 5 DAYS TO REPLACE REAR END THAT WAS "NORMAL"ACCORDING TO THEIR TECH. *NM
