THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT SIMILAR VEHICLES WERE SUBJECTED TO A RECALL HOWEVER, THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS NOT PROVIDED. PALMETTO57 NISSAN LOCATED AT 16725 NW 57TH AVE, MIAMI GARDENS, FL 33055, (305) 521-8297, WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

2008 4X4 4D LONG BED TITIAN , REVERSE GEAR STOPPED WORKING RIGHT AFTER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, ENDED AT 36000 MILES. I WAS USING REVERSE WHEN IT FAILED. I WAS REVERSING AT NORMAL SPEED OF .25 MP/H OR WHAT EVER PEOPLE BACK UP TO A PARKING STALL NORMALLY. THERE WAS A TUG TYPE SENSATION, THEN SLIPPAGE.

A MECHANIC FIXED THE PROBLEM OF A SNAPPED/BROKEN FLANGE ASSEMBLY (PART # 38220-8S11A) ALSO CIRCLIP LOCK RING (PART # 38225-8S110). THE SAME PARTS BROKE A 2ND TIME REQUIRING REPAIR AND NOW A 3RD TIME. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I CANT AFFORD TO KEEP FIXING THE PROBLEM AND CANT AFFORD A NEW TRUCK PLEASE HELP US PLEASE!!!

I PURCHASED MY 2008 NISSAN TITAN BRAND NEW IN 2008, SOMEWHERE AROUND 75000 MILES MY FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CAME APART, FORTUNATELY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED COVERED THE $5000.00 REPLACEMENT COST THAT NISSAN WANTED TO CHARGE. HERE I AM AT 138000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY WITH THE SAME ISSUE. NISSAN IS NO HELP AT ALL, THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN USED MAINLY ON THE HIGHWAY, WITH MINIMAL USE TO THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM. I SERVICE EVERYTHING MYSELF USING ONLY WHAT NISSAN RECOMMENDS. IM NOT IMPRESSED WITH MY $40000 BOAT ANCHOR, IT WILL BE THE LAST TIME I EVER PURCHASE A NISSAN. THIS IS THE SECOND TITAN I HAVE OWNED, DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH MY 2004.

LAST WEEK, I DROVE 6 HOURS TO START VACATION WITH MY FAMILY, AUGUST 2014, WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY NISSAN TRUCK WOULD INTERMITTENTLY START TO SHAKE SLIGHTLY AND ALSO MADE A NOISE LIKE A "JAKE BRAKE" DOES ON A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK. THIS OCCURRED WHEN I WAS EITHER DRIVING 20 MPH UP TO 65 MPH. I ARRIVED AT MY VACATION LOCATION 6 HOURS FROM MY HOME AND TOOK MY NISSAN TITAN TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FIRST THING THE NEXT MORNING. AFTER THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED MY PROBLEM, THE SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED ME AND SAID MY REAR END DIFFERENTIAL WAS GOING OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN, I KNEW I HAD A PROBLEM AND COULD NOT DRIVE MY TRUCK BACK HOME UNTIL THIS WAS REPAIRED. SINCE CAR DEALERSHIPS DO NOT REPAIR CAR PARTS ANYMORE THESE DAYS, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE REAR END DIFFERENTIAL WOULD COST $3,200.00 PLUS LABOR. THE TOTAL REPAIR CAME TO $3900.00. OUCH! IT TOOK THE DEALERSHIP 5 DAYS TO GET THE NEW REAR END DIFFERENTIAL DELIVERED FROM A NISSAN PARTS HOUSE IN THE NORTHEASTERN US AND REPLACED SINCE THEY DID NOT HAVE IT LOCALLY. MY ISSUE IS THIS.....I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE THAT HAD TO HAVE THE REAR END DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED AT 79,000 MILES, NOR HAVE ANY OF MY FRIENDS HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM EITHER! I EVEN CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE AND THEY DID NOT OFFER ME ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE EITHER WHICH TELLS ME THEY DON'T REALLY STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT!!! I UNDERSTAND IF IT WERE A WATER PUMP, RADIATOR, BRAKES, TIRES, ETC. BUT NOT A MAJOR COMPONENT THAT SHOULD NOT GO BAD AT 79,000 MILES. ONE MORE THING IN CLOSING, I HAVE NEVER USED A TRAILER TO HAUL ANYTHING EITHER WITH MY NISSAN TITAN PICK UP TRUCK. *TR

THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM ON THE NISSAN TITAN IS INADEQUATE OR POORLY DESIGNED. MY TRUCK HAS HAD THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED TWICE IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS, WITH MINIMAL USAGE OF THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM, AND UNDER APPROPRIATE CONDITIONS. GRINDING NOISES HAS BEEN FELT AND HEARD FROM THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL WHEN ENGAGING INTO 4HI, WHICH IS CAPABLE OF BEING SHIFTED ON THE FLY. WHEN ENGAGING INTO 4HI AND EXPERIENCING NOISES SUCH AS THIS WHILE ALREADY MOVING AT SPEED- 20-30MPH, IT IS RATHER UNSETTLING. TO THE AVERAGE CONSUMER WHO IS NOT A MECHANIC (WHICH I AM) THIS IS PROBABLY EVEN MORE FRIGHTENING TO EXPERIENCE. THE DIFFERENTIAL INSTALLED IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR WAS A REVISED VERSION, TO HAVE SUPPOSEDLY CORRECT ISSUES WHICH MANY TITANS HAVE FACED IN EARLIER PRODUCTION YEARS. THIS DIFFERENTIAL FAILED WITHIN 3 MONTHS. THE TRUCK WAS JUST FIXED LAST WEEK WITH ANOTHER REVISED DIFFERENTIAL, WE'LL SEE HOW LONG THIS ONE LASTS. AFTERMARKET WARRANTY AND DEALER PARTS WARRANTY HAVE COVERED ALL REPAIRS ASIDE FROM A DEDUCTIBLE, HOWEVER SOMEONE NOT WITH THIS WARRANTY WOULD HAVE FACED REPAIRS IN THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS RANGE. WITH MISS-USE I CAN UNDERSTAND PATS FAILING, HOWEVER THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. *TR

RECENTLY THE LOW RANGE SHIFT HAS STOPPED WORKING. I USE THE LOWER RANGE TO HOLD BACK THE TRAILER THAT I TOW AND I AM UNABLE TO USE IT SO I HAVE TO USE MY BRAKES WHEN GOING DOWNHILL. THE NISSAN TITAN BUTTON ON THE SHIFT LEVER THAT SHIFTS MANUALLY, AFTER MANUAL SHIFT IS TURNED ON, STOPPED WORKING. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PULLING A TRAILER COMING DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAINS. THIS LEFT MY TRANSMISSION IN 4TH GEAR AND WAS NOT ABLE TO USE THE COMPRESSION TO HELP SLOW ME DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK BACK INTO NORMAL AUTOMATIC MODE AND I HAD TO RIDE MY BREAKS DOWN THE MOUNTAIN TO A FLAT AREA AND SWAP VEHICLES TO TOW THE TRAILER. AFTER THIS INCIDENT I FOUND THAT THIS ISSUE IS VERY COMMON AND IS SPECIFICALLY CAUSED BY NORMAL USE OF THE VEHICLE. MEANING USING THE SHIFT LEVER TO PULL THE TUCK OUT OF PARK AND BACK INTO PARK. THIS MOTION STARTS BREAKING THE WIRING ON THE CONTROLLER. NISSAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ON RECORD OF THIS BEING A SAFETY RECALL. *TR

AT ALL TIMES WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE REAR END OF MY TRUCK SHAKES FROM 55-80 MILES PER HOUR (PRETTY MUCH THE USABLE SPEED RANGE OF THE TRUCK IS NOW WORTHLESS). THE TRUCK WOBBLES SO MUCH NOW THAT IT FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE EVEN AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM I.E. NEW TIRES, NEW RIMS AND NEW TIRES, BALANCING, ALIGNMENTS. RESEARCH THAT I HAVE DONE HAS DETERMINED THAT THIS IS A VERY WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM AND MANY OWNERS/OPERATORS OF THE NISSAN TITAN REFER TO THIS VIOLENT SHAKING AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE" I HAVE SPOKE WITH MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT NISSAN OF AMERICA IS NOT INTERESTED IN ADDRESSING THIS EPIDEMIC THAT IS EFFECTING SO MANY OF THE TITANS THEY HAVE MANUFACTURED. THE PROBLEM IS LARGE ENOUGH THAT NISSAN HAS PUBLISHED A TSB WHICH INCLUDES NECESSARY PARTS THAT MUST BE PURCHASED THAT MAY ONLY ALLEVIATE THE "DEATH WOBBLE" AND NOT CURE IT. I AM SAD THAT NISSAN OF AMERICA IS NOT STANDING BEHIND ITS PRODUCT TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT IS CLEARLY HAZARDOUS NOT ONLY TO THE OWNER/OPERATOR OF THE TITAN, BUT ALL THOSE THAT ARE SHARING THE ROAD WITH THESE AFFECTED VEHICLES. MY PERSONAL NOTE IS THAT MY TRUCK FEELS SO HAZARDOUS THAT I WILL NO LONGER TRANSPORT MY WIFE OR MY 3 CHILDREN IN IT AND I THINK SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR

TOOK MY TITAN IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND THE SERVICE PERSON NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT AND LEFT REAR AXLE SEALS ARE LEAKING. THE SERVICE PERSON FOUND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (NTB-10-032) FOR THIS PROBLEM AND BULLETIN SAYS TO REPLACE THE AXLE SHAFT ASSEMBLY WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED ASSEMBLY. THE LEAKING GEAR OIL CAN EASILY GET ON THE REAR BRAKES AND MAKE THEM FAIL. THIS IS TRULY A SAFETY ISSUE, NOT JUST A MINOR DEFECT. *TR

TOWED TO NISSAN SADLY WARRANTY RAN OUT 2 WEEKS PRIOR THE DELIVERY TO NISSAN, HOWEVER INCIDENT HAPPENED PRIOR THE EXPIRATION THE WARRANTY. NISSAN DEALER SAID REAR END ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING HOME THE TRUCK REVVED AND LOST POWER, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR THE TRUCK REGAINED POWER AND I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY DRIVE THE TRUCK HOME. IT HAPPENED TWICE MORE ON THAT SAME DRIVE HOME. I TOOK IT DOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I EXPLAINED IT ONLY HAD 22,000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN ABUSED IN ANYWAY. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO BREAK. WE USE IT MAINLY FOR THE DOGS TO TRAVEL IN AND WHEN GUESS ARE IN TOWN WE HAVE AN EXTRA VEHICLE RUN TO THE STORE AND BACK. HONESTLY THE TRUCK DOES VERY LITTLE BUT SHOW OFF THE DOGS WHEN THEY GET TO GO TO THE MARKET AND BACK. WE CALL AND TALKED WITH THE NISSAN REP. WHOSE NAME IS [XXX] WHO IS OUR DISTRICT MANAGER, HE SIMPLY TOLD US THAT THE WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER IN EFFECT AND WE WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL EXPENSES. I MENTIONED THE UNFAIRNESS OF THE SITUATION, HIS RESPONSE WAS I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER FOR ALL OF ITS MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS. WHEN I MENTIONED THAT WE HAD ALL THE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICES RECOMMENDED DONE THROUGH OUR SMALL BUSINESS LOCAL MECHANIC WHO BY THE WAY HAS MORE CERTIFICATES AND EXPERIENCE THAN HIS NISSAN TEAM HE ARGUED THE FACT. I SHARED HOW WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO PAYS FOR ALL OF HIS EXPENSES ON HIS OWN TO RUN HIS BUSINESS UNLIKE THE NISSAN TEAM WHO WORK UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THE NISSAN DEALER, [XXX] AGAIN ARGUED THE FACT. WE HAVE THREE NISSAN VEHICLES ALL OF WHICH WE ARE NOW SELLING AND WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN EVER. ITS A SHAME THAT NISSAN DOES NOT STAND BY THERE PRODUCTS. I ALSO READ WHERE THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSMISSION OF THE FRONTIER BECAUSE OF A RADIATOR LEAK THAT MIX WITH THE TRANSMISSION, INSTEAD OF A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK WOULD REV THE ENGINE AND SHAKE AND AT HIGH RPM THE VEHICLE WOULD BEGIN TO SLIGHTLY REVERSE. THE NEXT MORNING I TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS BLOWN. AS WAS THE MANIFOLD (THE MANIFOLD WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY, THE TRANSMISSION WAS NO LONGER COVERED). AT A LITTLE OVER 60,000 MILES AND NOT USING THE VEHICLE TO TOW WHY DID THE REVERSE (WHICH WAS THE ONLY GEAR AFFECTED) AND THE TRANSMISSION GO OUT. THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *TR

ACCORDING TO OTHER TITAN OWNERS IT APPEARS TO BE A WIRING HARNESS AS THEY HAVE INDICATED THE SAME PROBLEM, THE WIRE BREAKS DUE TO NOT ENOUGH SLACK IN THE WIRING HARNESS. NISSAN SERVICE CENTER STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTY SINCE I HAVE 64000K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN TITAN XE/SE/LE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HE ATTEMPTED TO ACTIVATE THE GEAR SHIFTER BUTTON INTO MANUAL, THE GEAR DID NOT ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AS THE GEAR SHIFTER WIRE BEING CUT IN HALF. THE DEALER ADVISED REPLACING THE GEAR SHIFTER ASSEMBLY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THE FAILURE AND WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,468.

THE LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL ON MY 2008 NISSAN TITAN BEGAN LEAKING WITH OUT ME KNOWING IT WAS HAPPENING. THE GREASE WAS THROWN ONTO THE LEFT REAR TIRE OVER AN UNDETERMINED PERIOD OF TIME. THE GREASE CAUSED THE RUBBER IN THE TIRE TO SOFTEN AND CAUSED THE TIRE TO BLOW OUT WHILE I WAS TRAVELING @ 65 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN THE BLOW OUT OCCURRED PIECES OF THE TIRE BEAT THE FENDER OF THE TRUCK CAUSING $1500 IN BODY DAMAGE. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE AXLE SEAL REPLACED AT A COST $400. FROM WHAT I NOW UNDERSTAND REAR AXLE SEAL FAILURE IS VERY COMMON ON THE TITAN TRUCKS YET THERE HAVE BEEN NO RE-CALLS AND/OR NO ACTION BY THE NHTSA TO DEMAND THIS PROBLEM BE CORRECTED. NOTED LEAKS AT FRONT AND REAR SEALS ON DIFFERENTIALS. TOOK TO DEALER; WITHOUT REMOVING INSPECTION COVERS DIAGNOSED FAILED REAR ASSEMBLY. STATED FAIRLY COMMON - TOLD TO PURSUE MY COMPLAINT FOR ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE. FLUIDS ADDED -- WHEN MY HUSBAND LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THE WHINING DETERIORATED INTO A CONSTANT BANGING CONSISTENT WITH SPEED. HUSBAND WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND DROVE THE VEHICLE AT 30 MPH TO OUR DRIVEWAY. AT THIS POINT THE VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED A HARD SHUDDER. II WAS FORTUNATE THAT THE FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEED AS HE DRIVES 50K PER YEAR ON THE INTERSTATE AND GIVEN THE GRYO TYPE SHUDDER NOW NOTICEABLE AT 30 MPH ONE CAN IMAGINE WHAT A FRAGMENTED DIFFERENTIAL AND LOOSE DRIVE SHAFT MIGHT HAVE DONE. WILL TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR WHEN THE REAR ASSEMBLY COMES IN. I WILL ALSO ASK THE DEALER TO SAVE MY OLD PARTS FOR ME. *TR
