I was driving down the freeway on cruise,when all of a sudden,the vehicle started vibrating and shaking violently.This happened in the middle of a downpour,and the tires broke loose momentarily,but I was able to gain control,and safely pull on to the shoulder.After searching the internet,this incident sounds very much like a broken crankshaft,as described in the many,many reports of this type of failure,especialy in the 2016 model years,like mine.

WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND ENGINE HAD HICCUP AND ALMOST SHUTOFF IN MIDDLE OF ROADWAY. WAS ABLE TO LIMP TRUCK TO MY DESTINATION. ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH. NO FAULT CODES OR DASH LIGHTS TO INDICATE ANY ISSUES. TOOK TRUCK TO SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT. HAD SERVICE SHOP DRAIN OIL AND INSPECT OIL FILTER. METAL DEBRIS WAS FOUND IN OIL AND OIL FILTER. HAD ENGINE REMOVED FROM TRUCK AND FOUND 3 SPUN MAIN BEARINGS, CRANKSHAFT POSSIBLY BROKEN.

There is a known issue by Nissan regarding many issues with the XD Diesel platform trucks. Mine is a castrophic engine failure at 76,237 miles. There was a recall previously on turbos for many 2016s & 2017s. One is not showing up for mine and as I bought the truck used can not confirm or deny my truck was one effected by this recall. I was driving and heard a light thump and had just had my tires rotated. It sounds like a tool or piece of rubber was inside the tire. I got out and made sure tires were on tight. Got back in the truck and got an engine loss of power warning and then the "oil pressure low stop vehicle" warning. I immediately pulled over and called insurance company for a tow. My truck now sits at the dealership needing a new motor and 2 turbos to the estimated cost of $39,850.

Dear Sir/Madam Masked Oil Pressure Warning in 2016 Nissan Titan XD (5.0L) I am writing to report a concerning and potentially dangerous defect observed in a 2016 Nissan Titan XD equipped with the 5.0L Cummins V8 diesel engine. As a Nissan Master Technician with extensive experience in vehicle diagnostics and repair, I believe this specific defect could be a contributing factor to the well-documented crankshaft breaking condition prevalent in these vehicles, which NHTSA is currently investigating. The specific issue I have identified and thoroughly documented on my own 2016 Nissan Titan XD is as follows: Observed Defect: The engine oil pressure gauge consistently reads "normal" (approximately 1/2 scale) at all times, including with the Key On, Engine Off (KOEO). Crucially, the corresponding oil pressure warning light does NOT illuminate during the normal Key On, Engine Off bulb check or at any other time, despite the engine not running. Diagnostic Findings (Summary): Preliminary diagnostics, including unplugging the oil pressure sensor, indicate a likely fault with the oil pressure sending unit itself, causing it to send a false "normal pressure" signal. This specific sensor defect fundamentally compromises the vehicle's critical oil pressure monitoring system. ( the engine is running ok, no other symptoms) Potential Safety Implications and Link to Crankshaft Failure: This defect creates an immediate and severe safety risk because it completely masks any actual low oil pressure condition that the engine may develop. Documentation: I have well-documented photographic evidence of the current occurrence described condition (gauge reading, non-illuminated warning light KOEO) which I can provide upon request to support this report. My vehicle spun a bearing, or broke the crankshaft in two, there is tons of metal in my oil, oil pan, and oil filter. The shop that is diagnosing it, and quoting me a new motor, said they have replaced AT LEAST 7 titan xd Cummins motors, and every single forum and person online that owns one reports the crank shaft breaking. Nissan or Cummins needs to be held responsible for this. And the NHTSA needs to put their foot down and actually protect American consumers. They sold these trucks for at minimum 40k and the motors all blow up around 100k miles? Absolutely disgusting that they can get away with this. What do expect in America I guess

Engine made a loud popping noise, shuttered and stalled in heavy traffic, I came within inches of being rear-ended. Required a tow truck. Repair shop informed me that the crankshaft is broken and this is a common problem. Being repaired at this time, I am informed this will cost about twenty thousand dollars. Thank you Nissan!

During cruising at 70mph on the interstate, vehicle started making some noise from the engine and 5 miles later locked up completely leaving me stranded. This is a known issue with the 5.0 Cummins. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk through the vehicle being disabled on the side of the highway all of the sudden during rush hour traffic. Problem was confirmed at a dealer. No warning lamps or messages prior to complete engine failure, just some slight noise from the engine a few minutes before.

The contact sustained a seatbelt rash and whiplash, but medical attention was not provided. The crankshaft had snapped. The driver was stranded for two hours in the desert. The vehicle was towed to his residence. The local dealer was contacted, who recommended an engine replacement. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The crankshaft snapped and locked up the motor. My safety was at risk as well as oncoming traffic because it could have caused an accident when locking up the motor. It has been confirmed by a local diesel mechanic. There was no warning at all, I was driving down the highway at 75 and as I started to go up an incline the truck had to downshift and it started to knock loud and then froze up and the truck came to a fast stop.

Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Inspection was through a well know ase diesel technician Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, no there was not and when did they first appear? Engine crankshaft broke, was cruising down the highway doing 70 in the fast lane, lost power steering then realized the truck was not running any longer, thankfully it was at night and the highway wasn't busy and was able to coast back to the right side of the highway to an exit ramp, but could have been a lot worse. Had no warning truck was running perfectly fine before hand, it did restart a couple hours later but has a loud knocking and low oil pressure light comes on it shuts down. Had to get towed. Vehicle is able to be inspected any time, I still owe on it and dealership is quoting 25k to 30k to repair and truck is not worth that. Have been told by multiply shops that this is becoming and issue with these trucks. The component has not been inspected by anybody mention above in your questions. No warning lights and no signs that it was going to shut off.

Driving down highway lost power, pulled over halfway off road, attempted to restart. Was able to start and move ten feet, then shut off and would not restart. There was no warning before hand. Took to independent mechanic and disassembled the engine. Crankshaft was broken in three places. Contacted dealership and was no longer warrantied. Mechanic could not find reason for failure, he thought it might be harmonic based failure. Purchased and installed a used engine. Disappointed in parts availability from Nissan.

Was driving down the road on January 1, 2022 headed home and truck seized accelerating and once I pulled over the road. Truck shut down, wouldn’t turn on. Took it to a diesel shop and they told me the crankshaft had seized. Paid over $14k to get it rebuilt at ONLY 67k miles on my 2016 Nissan Titan XD. Almost caught on fire as I tried turning on since I did not know what the issue was at first.

Was driving down the highway and I heard a loud banging out of nowhere from my engine. Whole truck shut off in the middle of the highway I pulled it over to side of road and called a tow truck. They took it to a dealer ship and I was told my crank was broken and they wanted 20,000 to replace whole motor. There was no warning lights nothing it just happened out of nowhere at 101,000 miles so I missed my warranty by 1,000 miles and had to pay 20,000 dollars to fix a truck that’s not even worth 20,000 any more.

The crankshaft broke. The truck was operating normally and is regularly driven. A loud banging noise was heard and the truck lost power while running. Smoke came from the tailpipe and the check engine light came on. The truck was operating normally until this incident. If this had occurred on the interstate it would have posed a significant safety risk to the occupants and other vehicles.

Suddenly the engine started making a loud clattering noise and shut off, leaving me without power steering and I could barely control the vehicle to get off the highway safely. When I finally came to a stop I tried to start the truck and it wouldn’t start. I had it towed to my house where it has sat for the last 7 months.

Failure with injectors lead to broken crankshaft. Pics attached of broken crankshaft. I was driving at 70 mph and extreme vibration began to which i had to immediately pulled off the road. Luckily no other vehicles were around me. This is a known defect from Nissan that they refuse to acknowledge. No warning lights or engine malfunctions preceded this, very dangerous.

Without warning I had a loss of power while driving followed moments later by the engine completely shutting down and failure to restart causing vehicle to stop in the middle of the road because I had no power steering or breaking. Using an OBD2 scanner I was able to recover the following code "P0087 Fuel Rail Pressure/System -Too Low Bank ". Upon trying to restart the vehicle to no avail it gave this code "P00C6 Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low - Engine Cranking Bank 1". Using an Auto Agent EZ Lynk I was able to see the fuel pump was putting out 125PSI but the Injector pump has a desired output 4.5kPSI but was only putting out 0.3kPSI and wouldn't increase pressure during cranking. After talking to my local Nissan dealership service department I was told it appeared that either the injector pump or the motor had failed. The oil and filter was change on [XXX] and fuel filters were changed on [XXX]. And has always been changed at ORR Nissan in Searcy Arkansas. If this had happened as I was going down a major highway or interstate it could have resulted in a major accident with possible injury or death due to the loss of steering. Went to pull out onto main road and the truck refused to accelerate instead it started to miss and lose power then the check engine light came on and the Reduce Engine Power warning was displayed. Shortly after that the truck died and will not start. A scan of the engine codes reveled a P0087 Fuel Rail/System pressure Too Low Bank 1 code. It appears that the Bosch CP4 Fuel Injector pump failed. Right before the engine died there was loud noises coming from the drivers side of the truck which sounded like it was coming from the engine compartment.

hi, i was driving on the free way to work hauling a small 10ft. trailer and my engine started knocking Badly! i get off free way start to head home and slowly take off and rpms take off and Boom. engine done.. so spun bearings/boken crank i havnt taken engine out to inspect yet because you cant buy a new engine and used engines are 10-12k. come to find out this engine has broken crank problems. not only could i have wrecked if it had blew on free way. but now im out of a truck that insurance wont pay. and still owe 24k to the bank.. thanks. Engine failure -I was driving about 45-50 mph and as I was approaching a four way intersection with a stop sign approaching in my direction of travel. As I came to a stop, the engine locked up and could not be restarted. Leaving my truck dead in the middle of the road. After having it towed to a friend's shop I removed the oil pan, only to find a alot of copper colored metal shavings all throughout. I have an obd2 scan tool with live monitoring called a BlueDriver which connects via Bluetooth to my phone and allows me to monitor different sensors and checks for any trouble codes that the truck may currently have. I had this app open and was monitoring about 6 different sensors at the time. The truck never showed any signs of anything unusual or out of the ordinary. I also never had any warnings or the check engine light come on. After joining a few Facebook groups and online fourms, and I realized this was not a very rear occurrence and that many others have experienced similar engine failures as well.

The engine crankshaft failed and broke in half while driving. I was driving on the New Jersey turnpike on cruise control with a trailer and a mower and all of a sudden the motor is making [XXX] noises and I lose engine power completely. This is a huge defective part and one of the main components of a motor that should not fail and break in half like it did. It’s a major catastrophic failure that should be resolved with a recall. The danger and risk that involves this issue is ridiculous and it should be resolved immediately. I have kept up on my services like I should the truck has been well taken care of. After research I have seen there has been alot of people with the same issue with very low miles. Even with higher miles this issue should not happen. The cost of this repair is outrageous no vehicle owner should pay that on their own specially when they still owe a lot of money on the vehicle. There were no fatalities in my incident but there could have been and it could have been bad. The manufacturer needs to take responsibility with this issue and fix it and prevent future incidents and hopefully save a life if it occurs. I purchased this vehicle in 2022 with 62000 miles on it for $45000, cash first newer vehicle ever paid for in cash, 1st day i drove it, check engine light for turbo failure came on, i normally put 80-100k miles on a vehicle per year, ive owned over 200 diesel vehicles in last 25 years, never have i had one stay in the shop more than driving it. Not only does it stay in the shop, but you have to locate a shop that still has a diesel technician employed. Two turbo actuator replacements, lift pump replacement, 18 shop visits for check engine lights, 5 times in a row at buford ga nissan, drove away and light came back on before making it home. [XXX] my family and I was driving to florida , doing 55mph, No check engine lights, no noises, no warnings, motor shut down in 21 degree weather, side of [XXX] in tucker georgia for 4 hours waiting for a tow truck, only thing on screen was DEF error see dealer immediately, $550 to tow vehicle back to my house because closest dealership did NOT have a diesel tech, spent two months to find a company that would tow my truck 55 miles from gainesville georgia to roswell georgia to regal nissan, the girl called me and said it needed a starter for $900plus dollars, i laughed and said there's no way in hell a starter caused this motor to die, i informed her that if starter did Not work i was not paying, two days later she calls me back up and informs me the motor is locked up, does not know why, but pay them $178 diagnosis fee, and for $1300-$2000 they could tell me exactly what failed, if u read online, trucks like mine fail between 50000-100000 miles with no warning no nothing! i am now stuck with another $330 tow bill to pick vehicle up and store it at my shop and pray that your organization can hold NIssan accountable, Nissans recommendation was for $30000 to put the exact same unmodified garbage of a motor back in this truck, please somebody hold this company accountable!!!!!! thanks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was traveling on the freeway at 75 miles per hour, the truck began to bog down for a few seconds then started to shake violently as if a tire was falling off, a few seconds later the engine shut off at maybe 60 miles per hour. I was unable to steer or brake properly and had very little control of where I was able to pull over. I had no power at all and the truck would not start. I was stuck on [XXX] in central Utah with drivers side tires of the truck in traffic on the right lane unable to pull over more or move the truck to a safe location. My wife and daughter were in the vehicle and I made them exit the vehicle and find a somewhat safe place to sit on the side of the freeway. It failed completely without and check engine light, the engine temperature never spiked until after it failed. The vehicle was obstructing traffic for 45 minute to an hour while I waited for a small town mechanic to come and tow it. This incident occurred the end of May 2023 and the truck is still not functioning as I cannot afford the $18-22,000 engine replacement for a broken crankshaft. The vehicle has 77,000 miles on it. It failed without any warning signs and definitely put my life, my families life, and 1000's of passing motorists at risk for an hour straight as the vehicle was incapacitated and obstructing traffic. I have read 100's of forum posts an articles concerning this same issue with zero concern from Nissan. The local dealerships claim they have never heard of this issue, but it is a known issue and could cause a fatal or catastrophic accident. Driving down the interstate at roughly 80mph. Truck started to shake violently almost causing me to loose control of truck and an enclosed trailer. Truck then shut down. No check engine lights or warnings. I coasted to a stop to find small fire in the engine bay. Got it towed to a mechanic, he drained the oil and found the oil pan was full of metal fragments. Suspected crank failure.

While driving to work on hwy 19 in new port richey fl. Motor started shaking and knocking really bad. Towed home and parked almost two months trying to get someone who could work on it. Dealership said needs new engine that cost as much as the truck is worth. Finally found a deisel mechanic that took it apart and said crankshaft was broken. It’s still at the shop til I can afford to repair/replace motor

While traveling home from work, at approx. 35mph my truck engine stopped working. I tried to restart it several times, with no success. I had the truck towed home, and was informed by my mobile mechanic that the crankshaft In my engine was broken. This incident placed me in danger of being hit by other vehicles, and stranded for a couple of hours. My truck only has 105330 miles on it.

While driving at 70 mph the engine stalled and bound up causing my vehicle to almost crash upon bringing it the dealership and after diagnosis they discovered the crank shaft and the bearings had exploded inside the engine causing it too cease also this dstroyed both turbos, the repairs to fix the vehicle are between 28-30k dollars and vehicle only had 88k on it and was babied and meticulous service records, nissan wanted to assume no responsibility for the failure at all and come to find out this is happening to alot of 5.0 Diesel nissan truck, there is word out there of a class action law suit and this needs to happend i could have been in a serious accident nissan is well aware of this terrible motor they put in the trucks so much they stopped production for diesel trucks, the parts are obsolete and they are not made any more so even the repairs are tough to come by they shouls atleast buy the vehicles off us or pay to get us out, many customers still had loans and the truck is no good

Event happened on a weekend late afternoon on a busy highway bridge. The titan was driving in the far left lane at 65-70 mph. Had to maneuver 2 lanes over down the bridge with no power to the engine. Safety for myself and many others on the highway bridge were put into danger as they had to maneuver out of my way while also driving around 65-70mph. Tow truck company also put in danger due to the busy nature of the highway when picking up vehicle. 3. Yes the problem cannot be reproduced because the vehicle is un-drivable. It has been confirmed by a dealer. 4. Yes the vehicle has been inspected at the local Nissan dealership. They stated the Crank shaft failed which led to the engine becoming unrepairable. 5. There were zero warning signs. I did not receive a single warning lamp, message or symptom. The vehicle experienced violent shaking followed by complete loss of power on the highway bridge, causing the engine to shut down. The titan had received all routine maintenance at the local Nissan dealership.

Loud noise and engine kept running but was unresponsive. Was traveling about 70 mph just coasted off the interstate. Was pulling my pontoon boat back to the lake during rush hour if I hadn’t been at an exit might have turned out different. Had it towed to nearest Nissan dealership and was told right away camshaft was broken and engine would have to be replaced.

CRANKSHAFT FAILURE LUCKILY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP COULD GET IT IN AND THEN TOWED TO THE DEALEREDHIP - EXTENDED WARRANTY WON'T PAY FOR THE NEW ENGINE CLAIMING IT IS OWNERS FAULT. NISSAN DEALERSHIP SAYING IT ISN'T OWNERS FAULT IT IS A FAILURE BECAUSE THE TRUCK HAD OIL AND LUBRICATION. SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE ON THIS MODEL AND NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE THE BLAME. NOW OUT A TRUCK AND STILL HAVE A TRUCK PAYMENT CERTAINLY DON'T HAVE $35000 FOR A NEW ENGINE.

i HAVE A 2016 NISSAN TITAN XD PRO 4x. that had engine failure at 106k miles due to bearing and crank shaft damage. this is a non engine and was denied repair from Nissan. A engine should last longer than this. Took over 2 years for parts and $20k out of my pocket. Now the turbo has bearing issue that's been failing since day one and Nissan failed to remedy the issue. This truck was a lemon from day one. Thousand of customer have the same issue. Nissan needs to stand behind the product.

Good Afternoon, My brother was driving my Nissan Titan XD 5.0 Cummins Diesel from Naples, FL to Ft . Lauderdale FL , and the truck was running fine at around 70-80 mph with no issues .As soon as he proceeded to the exit in Lauderdale around 60mph, all of a sudden truck flashed all kinds of warning lights came on randomly and motor shut down . Smoke coming from starter and solenoid below the fuse box. He is an engineer for North Collier Fire and put out the flames immediately . I took the motor in to shop and they found the motor was seized up and burned harness near starter. I went to a few mechanic shops including Nissan and no one could give me a solid answer on what had happed with the truck , besides that it just seized up . No one would take blame. I was trying to do some research on these trucks and found numerous owners had the same problems as me. I hope no one gets hurts further from the malfunction of these vehicles . My brother was very lucky to get off off the road. Please look into these safety matters and find out who/or what companies should be held responsible. The truck down shifted twice and then shut completely off while I was driving down the interstate. I was towed to Nissan in Springfield Missouri (closest to me) and they could not figure out the issue and charged me $500. I then towed the truck to Nissan of Jefferson city, Missouri, where I bought it. They inspected the motor and told me it was a complete loss. Metal in the oil pan from internal parts. They quoted me $39k for it to be replaced and I currently owe $30k on the truck. I only had this truck for 10 months when this failure occurred and left me and my family stranded. No check engine lights, odd noises or anything. Nissan has been reluctant to help and from what I've been reading this is a very normal occurrence for these trucks. I'm not sure what I'm going to do to get through this but I don't want it to happen to anyone else, so hopefully NHTSA can sort out this issue. Thank you.

I recently had a crankshaft failure in my 2016 Nissan Titan XD with only 87,000 miles. Nissan did not honor the 5yr/100k mile warranty due to me being over the time limit. This cost me nearly $11,000 out of pocket to buy a used replacement engine. Nissan is fully aware of the defect because they have revised components in the 2018/2019 trucks. There are hundreds if not in the thousands of us Titan XD owners who have suffered this costly error with no help.

Ever since I purchased this truck in 2017 I've had problem after problem Turbo actuator has been replaced twice and and is out again and not at cost on Nissan refused to pay for recall after it was replaced . coolant level sensor also replaced and is out yet again and have to replace reservoir also because sensor not sold seperatly EGR is leaking and out as is engine low oil light on and mechanic is beliving engine has blown up not sure cause yet until engine removed at my cost and replaced .These issues have had me in heavy traffic several times putting truck in limp mode making it unsafe for others and my self twice with grand children on board also dealer found melted wires in box harness that they wanted to replace indicated trailer wiring malfunction also a fire risk for truck .steering pump has always been sluggish since I've owned dealer refused to address it said it was working fine yet there has been issues with similar trucks .there have been several engine codes regarding coolant .EGR codes turbo codes and low oil pressure codes with good oil quantity before engine failure .I have always changed oil on this vehicle every 4000 miles fuel filters twice a year since owned have kept vehicle in best maintenance since owned .I also would like to note dealer Billion automotive is a absolute nightmare to work with all warrantee work with myself and my son who owns same truck he has had similar problems with his truck as well EGR turbo also turbo actuator DEF system replaced steering pump replaced because it fell off because of failed bolts all of these were repaired by dealer and documented as were mine

While driving at highway speeds the vehicle began shaking violently. As I started to pull over, I lost all power, had difficulty steering and the brakes were barely effective. As I came to a stop, the engine locked up completely. The Nissan dealer confirmed that the engine was locked up due to either a main bearing seizure or completely broken crankshaft.

I was driving down the road at 55mph when there started to become a loud knocking noise from the engine. After about a mile message came across the dash that said reduced engine power and 2 seconds later the entire engine shut off wouldn't turn back on or crank. There were about 20 different check engine codes at the time. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer where they did an inspection the following week and said the motor blew due to a snapped crank shaft and would need an entire new engine.

Was driving at about 40 mph with cruise control on, when my passenger and I noticed extreme vibrations and noises with. Began slowing to turn into a gas station just ahead when the clunking became so violent the front of the vehicle was bouncing. As I turned into the gas station, there was a loud bang, smoke billowed from the hood, and the engine stalled leaving me with no power steering. I turned as hard as I could to avoid gas pumps and people fueling their cars, and ended up running up a curb with no power to steer away. No warning lights came on until I came to a stop. Smoke and oil continued running from the front of my truck for several minutes. I feel fortunate to have walked away from such a violent breakdown. I am told the truck needs a new engine and transmission resulting from a broken crankshaft, and have been refused any warranty or good will assistance. I was given a quote for $37,000. Thought it was a joke, but then again this whole experience has been hard to accept as reality.

Issues with turbo actuator. The check engine light stays on and I've taken it to Nissan multiple times to diagnose but they want to change me diagnostic fee every time and still can't tell me what the issue is. The truck loses power while driving without any warning and goes into limp mode where it will not go past 5-10 mile per hour. According to boards and Nissan this is a very common problem with Nissan Titans with Cummins that Nissan has failed to fix with recall. This is a huge safety issue and could cause loss of life as it has stopped on me on the interstate multiple times. Please fix this issue asap as it's been reported over the course of last few years and someone will lose their life over this huge issue.

The turbo actuator failed twice. I have yet to replace it a second time hoping there would be a recall. I spoke with two dealers and they tell me it is a common problem on Nissan titans with a Cummins engine. The check engine comes on and then the truck goes into limp mode. It does not want to go past 5 -10 mph. It goes away after the truck is turned off for 15 minutes. Then after a week or two it comes back. If I do not turn it off for 15 minutes the truck turns itself off.

Faulty Turbo Actuator Vehicle would stall stall without check engine light in traffic. I could Cycle the key and vehicle would run again no check engine light. It did this at least 4-5 times in traffic and on freeways. Nissan also is not providing support as actuator was on back order for over 6 months. Vehicle stall I f with no warning and cycling key to restart. I replaced it and once had it repaired and vehicle still runs poorly.

Vehicles engine suddenly and without warning began knocking while crusing down the interstate, within 30 seconds of the sudden knocking the engine was locked up on the side of the road. After reading i have found thousands of other cases just like mine where there cummins 5 liter diesels have suddenly and without warning locked up while traveling down the road. All maintenance was done on time by nissan technicians. Milage for my specific instance was 101,056. Nissan refused to warranty and dealer ended up out of pocketing most of the repair. And Nissan continues to ignore that there is a serious issue with these engines, and after doing more research i have found litterally thousands of cases just like mine, and anywhere from 1000 miles on up through 150,000 miles with some instances happening up to 5 repeated times before the vehicle reaches 100,000 miles. The repair itself cost upward of $23,000, and dealerships and technicians seemly know nothing of said issue even though a quick search online shows case after case of peoples nissan titan diesels unexpected locking up while traveling down the road and in some cases causing the drivetrain to lock up as well suddenly and abruptly stopping there vehicle, potentially causing an accident. More often than not though nissan is leaving these customers like myself high and dry on the side of busy interstate while they continue to hide the fact that there product is defect and potentially unsafe. I was fortunately to have a great dealership that took care of me and got me off the side of the road, but many arent. In most cases including mine these vehicle display a crank position sensor code, and then shortly there after the crankshaft breaks in half and often times sends large pieces of metal flying out of the engine block shortly before locking up completely. The truck goes into limp mode without warning. The cause is a faulty wastegate actuator that is now on it’s third revision. The exhaust gets clogged dur to improper mix ratio and puts the vehicle into limp mode which will only go about 10 miles per hour. This can happen without notice and could cause death or injury while merging into or across traffic. Part replacement not available and no status when it will be available. This is a serious issue that needs addressed die to no warning before disabling full power. I’ve had several near misses due to this.

My children were in the vehicle and we were really worried about their safety. The vehicle was inspected by the manufacturer and my insurance. Hello, I have purchased this Titan XD diesel 3 years ago from Nissan Dealership in MD, (Anwerpan Nissan). That dealership informed me before It was an issued with turbo chargers and replaced them. Over the 3 years I was maintained this truck with proper oil changes and other service. I have outfitted with camping (ovelanding equipment), so this summer in July we went to camp in Upper Peninsula, MI, when the engine just stopped working right on hwy, and it's lucky enough no accident happened and we are be able to roll on side of the road. I have towed the truck to Garber Nissan, MI, they have troubleshooted engine and said it will need a full engine replaced as bearing spun and may be broken crankshaft. I found out later from forums and Facebook it's a very common problem with these engines. It's very dangerous, if the truck was pulling a load and engine locked up, and trailer swing around. Nissan NA has refused to cover this repairs. The repairs is about $17,000 to $20,000 plus. Cummins engines for the Nissan is pretty much failed every one from 2016 to 2018 years of production. THIS TRUCK IS HEADING TOWARDS LEMON STATUS WITH THE TERRIBLE 5.0 V8 AND IT'S NO WONDER NISSAN STOPPED OFFERING THE DIESEL OPTION. OTHER PROBLEM THE REAR DOOR EXTERIOR PANEL RATTLES WHEN AT 45MPH OR HIGHER AND IS QUITE ANNOYING FOR A SUPPOSED PLATINUM MODEL. I'M BEYOND DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE AND IT SHOULD BE PULLED OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED FROM INSTANT LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN MOTION. THERE ARE DIESEL EXHAUST FUMES COMING INTO THE CAB WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE WHETHER THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON RECYCLED, FRESH, OR IF IT IS OFF COMPLETELY. THE SMELL IS OVERWHELMING AND DOES NOT GO AWAY EVEN WITH THE WINDOW BEING ROLLED DOWN. THE FUMES ALSO COME INTO THE CAB WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. ABOUT 100 MILES INTO MY TRIP WHILE PULLING AN ENCLOSED 16' TRAILER AT 70MPH ON A FLAT 4 LANE HIGHWAY THE WARNING REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER WARNING WENT OUT, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. DURING THE NEXT 550 MILES THE REDUCED POWER WARNING CAME ON AND WENT OUT ABOUT EVERY 100 MILES. I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO KY THAT DAY. THE LIGHT WENT OUT THE NEXT MORNING. ON 6 JULY 2020 I STARTED HOME AND BOTH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE REDUCED POWER WARNING CAME ON AFTER I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT 50 MILES DRIVING AT 70 MPH PULLING THE TRAILER ON A 4 LANE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE REDUCED POWER WENT OUT BUT THE CHECK ENGINE STAYED ON, DURING THE NEXT 600 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON BUT THE REDUCED POWER WARNING WOULD COME ON AND GO OUT AT ABOUT 50 MILE INTERVALS. THIS CONTINUED ALL THE WAY HOME. DURING THE TRIP WHEN THE REDUCED POWER WARNING CAME ON THE TRUCK WOULD HOLD WHATEVER SPEED THE CRUISE WAS SET AT BUT IF IT TRIED TO GO UP ANY INCLINE THE TRUCK WOULD NOT REV ABOVE 3000 RPM WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO JUMP IN AND OUT OF PASSING GEAR AND YOU WERE UNABLE TO PASS OR EVEN KEEP THE SPEED UP GOING UP ANY TYPE OF A STEEP INCLINE (HILL). SINCE YOU HAD NO IDEA WHEN THE LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND THE POWER WAS GOING TO BE REDUCED, I WAS AFRAID TO PASS ANYTHING OR LET ANY OTHER VEHICLE GET TOO CLOSE BEHIND. I GOT THE TRUCK INTO SHOP TWO DAYS LATER. WHEN I PICKED MY TRUCK UP, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE EGR COOLER HAD FAILED INTERNALLY AND WAS LOSING COOLANT INTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I DID A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET FOR OTHER OWNERS WHO HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRUCK AND FOUND LOTS OF OTHER OWNERS WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND MOST WERE DUE TO THE EGR COOLER LEAKING AND CAUSING A LOSS OF COOLANT.

ON 05-01-2020 I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME ON I-59 NORTH AND I LOST THE POWER STEERING, ALTERNATOR AND A/C. THIS TRUCK IS A DIESEL. EVERY TIME IT GOES INTO REGEN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WILL FILL WITH EXHAUST SMOKE AND FUMES. IT'S SO BAD IT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL SICK, AND GET A HEADACHE. I FEEL IT'S ONLY MORE NOTICEABLE IN REGEN BUT THE PROBLEM IS ALWAYS PRESENT, DUE TO THE FACT THAT WHEN IT SITS IDLE EQ. WAITING FOR WIFE IN STORE THAT I WILL GET A BAD HEADACHE. I DID NOT CONNECT THE TWO ISSUES BUT IT IS MORE APPARENT WHEN IN REGEN DUE TO A LARGER AMOUNT OF EXHAUST BEING PRODUCED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY NISSAN (2 DIFFERENT DEALERS IT'S NORMAL AND NOT DANGEROUS) THERE IS A CASE ON FILE WITH NISSAN MOTORS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS NO RESPONSE TO THE ENGINE AND THERE IS NO PRIOR WARNING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MAY OR MAY NOT ILLUMINATE. TODAY THE ENGINE WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHEN ACCELERATION FROM A DEAD STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE TRUCK NEVER ACHIEVED MORE THAN 10 MPH AND WHEN I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE DIED. LUCKILY I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION WITH TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND IT WAS DOWNHILL SO I COULD COAST THROUGH THE INTERSECTION TO THE SHOULDER. I PLACED THE TRUCK INTO PARK AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT TO MY HOME.

UPON PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE NEW FROM THE DEALER, A STRONG DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR WAS NOTED WITHIN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. AFTER BRINGING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WITH THE COMPLAINT, I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE SIMPLY NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK FROM THE DEALER, AND HAVING THE SOFTWARE UPDATE PERFORMED, THE VEHICLE STILL PRODUCED STRONG DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR WITHIN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. SINCE THAT FIRST ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE, I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS (4+ TIMES). NO DEALER HAS BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND GET RID OF THE DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR WITHIN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. FINALLY, I LODGED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITHIN THEM FOR OVER 2 MONTHS NOW, BUT THEY ARE LITTLE HELP. THEY KEEP DELAYING ADDITIONAL EXPERTISE ON THE ISSUE AND HAVE DENIED MY CLAIM FOR A "BUYBACK", ASKING NOW THAT I REPLICATE THE ISSUE WITH A 3RD NISSAN DEALER. I HAVE LITTLE CONFIDENCE IN THEIR ABILITY AND/OR WILLINGNESS TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. IN THE MEANTIME, I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND POTENTIALLY BREATHING IN UNSAFE LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE (OR OTHER TOXIC GASES ASSOCIATED WITH THE STRONG DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR CONTINUING TO BE RELEASED INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK). AT ONE POINT LAST WEEK, I HAD TO STOP DRIVING THE TRUCK ENTIRELY, AS THE HEADACHES ASSOCIATED WITH DRIVING THE VEHICLE DID NOT WARRANT CONTINUING TO USE THE VEHICLE FOR REGULAR TRANSPORTATION. THE DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR IS VERY STRONG UPON COLD START-UP AND CONTINUES TO BE EMITTED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN (ALBEIT NOT AS STRONG AS UPON START UP). REGARDLESS, THE ODOR IS PREVALENT WITHIN THE VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE THAT DRIVING THE VEHICLE INTRODUCES A SIGNIFICANT HEALTH RISK TO BOTH THE DRIVER AND ANY PASSENGERS.

I MERGING INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND LOST MOST ALL ENGINE POWER. I PULLED OVER ONTO SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND LOOKED UNDER HOOD AND UNDER TRUCK FOR SIGNS OF WHY. I SAW A WATERFALL OF FLUID GUSHING OFF OF TRANSMISSION CASE. SMELLED DIESEL FUEL I TURNED OFF ENGINE AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. I HAD SEVERAL GALLONS OF FUEL THAT HAD POURED OUT OF INJECTOR THAT CAME LOOSE AND OVER ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO DEALERS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY INCIDENT IN TWO WAYS FOR PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS ON HIGHWAY. TEMPERATURE WAS 90 PLUS DEGREES AND SUNNY. VERY HOT.

NOW THE LATEST WAS THE COOLANT WAS CAUSING THE TRUCK TO LOOSE POWER BECAUSE AS I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER IT'S NORMAL FOR IT TO EVAPORATE A HALF A GALLON IN 18 MONTHS. SEEMS A LITTLE STRANGE TO ME. IN THE MEANTIME I STILL HAVE TO PACK AROUND DEF BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH I HAVE. THE TRUCK HAS MANY ISSUES. ALSO THE RUNNING BOARDS WAS NEVER INSTALLED ON THE TRUCK. COMING OFF A HIGHWAY AT AROUND 50 MPH THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A "POPPING" SOUND AND JERKING AS IF MISFIRING. CONNECTED A CODE READER TO TRUCK AND 5 ISSUES WERE FOUND. ENGINE CODES P0544, P244D, P242D & P242C WERE LISTED STATING "EXHAUST GAS TEMP SENSOR" AND "EXHAUST TEMP HIGH FOR DPF" ALONG WITH CODE P0204 "NUMBER 4 FUEL INJECTOR CIRCUIT OPEN". HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THE DIESEL MECHANIC STATED THE "GRAVED CONNECTOR F131 ON CYLINDER #4 WAS AT FAULT AND THAT THE CONNECTOR "SPREAD TERMINALS WERE CAUSING POOR CONTACT WITH INJECTOR". STATED THE ENGINE CONTROL HARNESS (WIRING HARNESS), NEEDED REPLACING. VEHICLE HAD ONLY ~62500 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME.

WHEN ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE GETS STUCK AT APX 30RPM. IT WILL STOP COMPLETE ACCELERATION FOR APX A MINUTE AND THEN WILL PICK UP SPEED. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND HAS ALMOST PUT ME IN TWO ACCIDENTS GETTING HIT AT INTERSECTION AND ENTERING ON TO A RAMP, AND STALLING IN TRAFFIC ON A BUSY STREET. I HAVE REPORTED TO WEST TEXAS NISSAN AND CORPORATE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED ONCE TO ME WITHOUT CORRECTING IT AND IT DID IT AGAIN WITH A MECHANIC TEST DRIVING WITH ME. IT IS CURRENTLY IN DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR THE LAST 40 PLUS DAYS WITH THEM SAYING THEY CANT DETECT WHAT IT IS. I WOULD MENTION A NEW ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED ON THIS TRUCK WITH IN A MONTH OF NEW PURCHASE. THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY CONCERN YET NISSAN CONTINUES TO SAY THEY CANT PICK UP A CODE FOR IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FUMES FROM THE DIESEL ENGINE PENETRATED INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND MADE THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE DIZZY AND SICK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GRAND STRAND NISSAN (4701 US-501, MYRTLE BEACH, SC 29579, 843-236-2191) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE DIESEL ENGINE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND, AFTER FIVE ATTEMPTS, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER MADE THREE DIFFERENT OFFERS TO THE CONTACT, INCLUDING A BUY-BACK, BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT MAKE A DECISION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 800.

OUR 2016 NISSAN TITAN XD WAS IDLING ON A LEVEL CARPORT WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. NO ONE WAS IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. I WAS UNLOADING TOOLS FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. AFTER ABOUT 5-7 MINUTES, WHILE I WAS STANDING IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO ROLL VERY SLOWLY BACKWARDS. IT ROLLED OVER A SMALL CONCRETE BUMP (INTENDED TO PREVENT CARS FROM ROLLING OFF THE CARPORT), DOWN ABOUT A 6 INCH STEP DOWN, ACROSS ANOTHER 10 FEET OR SO OF CONCRETE AND INTO THE BRICK WALL AT THE BACK OF THE CARPORT. I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO SAFELY JUMP DOWN, OPEN THE TRUCK DOOR AND ENGAGE THE BRAKE. THE TOTAL DISTANCE THE TRUCK ROLLED WAS LESS THAN 10 YARDS. THE TAILGATE OF THE TRUCK WAS DAMAGED BADLY WHEN IT HIT THE BRICK WALL, BUT IT HELPED TO STOP THE TRUCK. WHEN I GOT INTO THE TRUCK TO DRIVE IT BACK UP ONTO THE PARKING AREA OF THE CARPORT, THE PARKING BRAKE WAS STILL ENGAGED. I DISENGAGED IT TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. WE HAVE HAD ISSUES IN THE PAST WITH THE ENGINE REVVING AND EXTREMELY HARD SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. THERE IS ALSO A HEAVY SMELL OF EXHAUST INSIDE THE CAB OF THE TRUCK VERY OFTEN. THE SMELL IS STRONG ENOUGH TO CAUSE HEADACHES. WE USUALLY HAVE TO CRACK THE WINDOW WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT OFTEN. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE WE PUT THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND TRUCK WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL FOR SOMETIMES UP TO 5 MINS AND THAT'S WITH US TRYING TO GET THE TRUCK TO GO. WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT SEVERAL TIMES AND WE HAVE SMALL CHILDREN THAT RIDES IN THE TRUCK. WE SMELL FUMES IN THE CAB IN WHICH I HAVE ASTHMA AND AGAIN SMALL CHILDREN WHICH IS DANGEROUS TO SMELL. SHIFTS HARD AND NOT ALWAYS THE SAME, EITHER TAKES LONGER TO SHIFT OR SHIFTS QUICK. VERY JERKY WHEN IN TRAFFIC. THE DAY WE GOT HOME WITH THE TRUCK WE HEARD A GRINDING NOISE WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKES.IT HAPPENS RANDOM LIKE THE NO ACCELERATION. ON FREEWAY WHEN ACCELERATING AND SLOWING DOWN BACK TO ACCELERATING THERE'S A HORRIBLE LAG.OUR GAUGE DOESN'T MATCH WITH WHAT MIKES WE HAVE LEFT IN THE TANK.WHEN I GO TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TELL ME THERE'S NO WAY AND THAT I MUST BE IMAGING IT.THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE AND I DREAD PUTTING MY KIDS IN THE TRUCK.OUR LIVES AND SAFETY ARE AT RISK.SCARED DEALERSHIP WILL ACT LIKE THEY CHECKED THE PROBLEMS BUT REALLY DIDN'T.CONSITANTLY HAVING TO REFILL DEF WHICH A FRIEND SAID IT SHOULDN'T DROP THAT FAST. ALSO WHEN TURNING INTO A SPOT OR ON A STREET THE TRUCK MAKES A WEIRD NOISE AND THE WHEEL ONLY TURNED UP TO 3/4 OF THE WAY. ALSO WHEN STARTING SOMETIMES IT TAKES THE TRUCK LONGER TO START UP.

TODAY WHILE TURNING LEFT FROM STOP LIGHT A GAS TRUCK IN FIRST LANE FAILED TO STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. I HIT THE ACCELERATOR TO PULL AWAY AND NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AT ALL. HAD THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER TRUCK NOT BROUGHT HIS VEHICLE TO STOP INJURY OR DEATH WOULD HAVE SURELY RESULTED. I'VE OWNED NEARLY 100 NEW CARS OF ALL MAKES MODELS TYPES ETC AND HAVE DRIVEN WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT FOR OVER 40 YEARS. THIS IS DIESEL ENGINE WITH DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID, NOT WORKING PROPERLY, DOESN'T BURN ANY DEF, IT IS REQUIREMENT ON ALL DIESEL ENGINES TO HAVE THIS EXHAUST CLEANER.

LITTLE TO NO THROTTLE RESPONSE 3-5 SECOND DELAY. SPEED FROM 15-35 TRANSMISSION ISSUE AS WELL. CALL NISSAN THEY STATED THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS BUT HAVE NO FIX. I FELL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE! NO ACCELERATION WHEN NEED?

ON NOVEMBER 22, 2016 I AM DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY NISSAN TITAN XD TURBO DIESAL TRUCK HAD A MAJOR LOSS OF POWER AND A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON MY DASHBOARD. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE CARS WERE FLYING BY BEEPING THERE HORN AT ME. IVSAT THERE FOR 15 MINUTES WONDERING WHAT TO DO. I DECIDED TO TRY AND START THE TRUCK THE PROBLEM WAS GONE AND I CONTINUED ON MY WAY. I CALLED NISSAN SERVICE DEPT. AND SAID IF HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT IN. ON DECEMBER 6TH THE LOSS OF POWER WARNING LIGHT REOCCURRED. I BROUGHT IT TO THE SERVICE DEPT IMMEDIATELY. THE SERVICE DEPT. REPROGRAMMED ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. THE TRUCK PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE REMEDIED. WHILE ON VACATION IN FLORIDA IN JANUARY 2017 I HAD LOSS OF POWER TWICE BUT NO WARNING LIGHT. ON MARCH 31, 2017 , I DROVE TRUCK TO DOCTOR'S APPT AND AFTER APPT DTARTED TRUCK PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND TRUCK ENGINE POWER FAILED COMPLETELY. I GOT TRUCK TO NISSAN SERVICE DEPT. AND HAS BEEN THERE SINCE. NISSAN DOES NOT KNOW WHAT PROBLEM IS AND DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR TRUCK. I AM A 100 PERCENT DISABLED VETERAN AND AM NOT ABLE TO WALK VERY FAR. IF THIS HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE I WILL BE IN TROUBLE. I CONSIDER THIS TRUCK A LEMON AND NISSAN SHOULD MAN UP AND GIVE ME A NEW TRUCK.

INTERMITTENTLY LOOSES POWER, TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION. DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD NOT KNOWING WHEN IT'S COMING. I'M VERY FAMILIAR WITH TURBO LAG, THIS IS NOT IT. USUALLY HAPPENS AROUND 1/4 THROTTLE, SQUEELING ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT, EXHAUST ODOR IN THE TRUCK, MAKES YOU NAUSEOUS, AFRAID TO LET MY KIDS RIDE IN IT! SEVERE CLUNKING IN DRIVELINE, RATTLE IN TURBOCHARGER, CHECK ENGINE FOR WASTE GATE, LEAKING WINDOW SEALS, DRIPS ON WINDOW SWITCH SURGES FORWARD WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THEY SAY IT'S SHIFTING INTO FIRST, IT WILL SHOVE YOU INTO AN INTERSECTION! RADIO HAS LOUD POPPING, THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED FIXES MANY TIMES TO NO AVAIL. NISSAN RESPONSE "ITS NORMAL"

DIESEL SMELL COMING INTO THE CAB WHEN REGEN IS TAKING PLACE ITS SO STRONG AND THE FUMES ARE SO BAD I HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK ITS MY OPINION ITS CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING IT IS GIVING ME RESPIRATORY TROUBLE FOR MY SELF THIS MUST BECOME A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE PASSES OUT FROM THE FUEL SMELL THE DEALER IS STILL WAITING FOR A ENGINEER SINS THERE IS NO FIX AND THE DEALER HAS NEVER HAD TO DO A REPAIR LIKE THIS THEY SAID WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND NEVER HAD A NEW TRUCK LIKE THIS SO I AM STUCK DRIVING IT AND DON'T KNOW WHEN I WILL GET A CALL BACK IT HAPPENS WHEN MOVING OR PARKED AND IT WORSE DRIVING

THE TRUCK IS LEAKING DIESEL FUMES INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE SMELL IS MORE NOTICEABLE DURING A REGEN. THE ODOR AND FUMES CAN BECOME VERY INTOXICATING IF STOPPED IN TRAFFIC TO THE POINT YOU WOULD NEED TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN OR EXIT THE VEHICLE FOR A BREAK.

VEHICLE LOST POWER ON HIGHWAY AND WOULD NOT EXCEED 40MPH WITH FULL ACCELERATION, WAS ABLE TO LIMP VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. WAS TOLD DPF REGEN TRIGGERED ENGINE FAIL-SAFE CAUSING LOSS OF POWER. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE VISIBLE DURING INCIDENT. DEALER DOES NOT KNOW CAUSE OF ISSUE BUT WAS ABLE TO RESET VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN SEVERAL DAYS LATER AND HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND HAS NO CLEAR FIX.

CUMMINS 5.0 LITER ENGINE MISSING OUT AT 1700 RPMS, YOU CAN REV THE DIESEL ENGINE TO 1700 RPMS AND THEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE UNIT STARTS MISSING OUT. BUT YET A CUMMINS ENGINEER STATED THAT SOME OF THEM DO IT, AND SOME DON'T. WELL BEING A CUMMINS TECH MY SELF I KNEW THIS WAS NOT TRUE. NISSAN REFUSES TO SEND THE TRUCK TO AN ACTUAL CUMMINS DEALER TO HAVE IT PROPERLY CHECKED OUT. SO U TOOK IT TO CROSS POINT CUMMINS DEALERSHIP HERE IN INDIANA THEIR DIAGNOSIS THE EGR FLAP IS STICKING ON THE CASTING AND CAUSING LOSE OF POWER , WITH EXCESSIVE REGENERATION DUE UNIT ONLY HAS 800 MILES ON IT. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE ISSUES!
