Unknown? Air bag light blinks all the time when vehicle is running. Steering controls on steering wheel does not WORK. Might be a malfunction. Not sure.

Airbag light keeps blinking. Came on for no reason, won't turn off. Yes It is available for inspection. My safety is as risk if the airbag employs. No I'm not aware of problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Warning light appeared on the Jan 28th 2023 and is still blinking when I turn car on.

Seatbelt on driver's side didn't lock. Seatbelt on passenger side did lock no one riding there. A deer jumped right in front of me going 55mph air came out but I didn't get any powder burns and seatbelt pulled all the way out. I'm a small woman lucky I didn't go through the windshield.

The Airbag light is stuck on solid(its accessable). The seatbelts lock without toucking them(its accessable). The trunk wont unlock electrical problem through wire harness(its accessable) My safety and everyone else safety is in danger with these recalls that the dealer wont acknowledge on my 2007 Nissan Versa still in 2022. The problems are on all nissan versa models through 2007 - 2012 have been confirmed by dealer and my vehicle is a 2007 nissan versa hatchback and it says theres no recalls for my VIN which Nissan needs to be sued for this or actually fix there recalls. My vehicle has not been inspected by dealer, police, or insurance. But It has been checked by professional mechanics. no lights before problem started. just came on out of no where Airbag light never blinks just stays on solid after car is turned on. and the trunk worked just fine for 15 years until yesterday. the trunk has some electrical problem after mechanic inspected it. Fix these problems. My safety is in danger and so is everyone else.

While driving, I was going about 25mph, but was coming to an intersection. Before getting to the intersection the light was blinking yellow due to the time so i started to slow down so i could yield through the light. At this time, my son who was 3yrs 2mo old (at the time) was in the backseat in his carseat. As I gradually stepped on the brake pedal, I then felt a big slam, and my face smacked the airbag and dust flew all over my vehicle, and son in the backseat who didnt have an airbag deploy. As I came to realize what happened my son was in the backseat screaming and i had smoke coming from my hood. I hit a city light pole outside of a 7-Eleven store. I was unsure of what happened that caused the accident, but after it happened I got out of my car in complete shock of what hit me. my son was in pullups, and the gel stuff inside the diaper had flew all over my car as it caused the seatbelt to tighten around his legs. I grabbed my son out of the car, because it was smoking and the first thing I should have done was not moved. When i got out of car to see what hit me, i stayed on the sidewalk and waited 35mins for a cop, so by the time the cop came, who never called ems, told me i was being cited and they took my vehicle to the impound lot. The car then was considered totalled and because I was in an accident, gasoline was leaking and they said it was considered hazardous. I didn't nor did my child receive medical attention because we did not have medical insurance at the time but the officer didnt call ems. I then had to pay to get my things from the vehicle from the impound lot, and they were treating me very poorly about what i could grab and what had to left with it. I also had to pay Court Costs, and fines and due to this accident, i have suffered trauma, and my son im sure has also. My body has major pains as well as my legs, hips, neck and severe lower back pain. I am unable to care for my child as he needs at times because my body hurts so bad, i cant help.

HAD THE AIR BAGS CHANGED. THE SENSOR AND LIGHT FOR THE AIR BAGS HAVE BEEN ON EVERY SINCE. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN HAD THEM CHECK IT. THEY STATED THE PLUG CAME UNDONE. WITHIN 2 DAYS THE LIGHT WAS BACK ON. THEY HAVE STATED IT WOULD $100+ TO HAVE IT RE LOOKED AT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V452000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. YOU SEE, BOTH MY FRONT PASSENGER AND FRONT DRIVER (STEERING COLUMN) AIRBAGS BOTH HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL. NOW, THE SIDE AIR BAGS ARE BEGINNING TO SHOW UP ON THE RECALL LIST YET WHEN I ENTER MY VIN, IT SHOWS NO ACTIVE RECALLS. I'M NOT REALLY A BETTING WOMAN BUT I WILL SAY THAT IF MY DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE REPLACED, WOULDN'T IT STAND TO REASON THAT THE SIDE AIRBAGS SHOULD PROBABLY BE INCLUDED IN THIS NEWEST RECALL NISSAN HAS PUT OUT? I GOT TWO SIDE AIRBAGS. ONE ON MY DRIVER AND ONE ON MY PASSENGER. AND I DON'T WANT LITTLE METAL FRAGMENTS EXPLODING IN MY FACE IF IMPACT COMES TO MY CAR. I WENT WITH MY CAR TO A DEALER: AUTO NATION NISSAN MIAMI AND THEY CHANGE THE TWO INFLATOR AIR BAGS ACCORDING BY DEALER DOCUMENTS BUT THE AIR BAG SIGNAL IN THE DASHBOARD CONTINUE BLINKING LIKE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING. I CALL THEM AND THEY SAID CAN'T DOING ANYTHING.

TAKATA RECALL WHEN I RECEIVED MY RECALL I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INSPECTED MY CAR AND I'M ASSUMING MY AIRBAG. SHE GOT MY NAME AND NUMBER, AND TOLD ME I WOULD BE 18TG ON THE WAIT LIST FOR MY PART, IT WAS SUPPOSED TO ARRIVE IN MARCH OR MAY I BELIEVE IS WHAT SHE TOLD ME. I HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM EAST TENNESSEE NISSAN OF MORRISTOWN. I EMAILED THEM AND HAVE YET TO GET A RESPONSE. I HAVE BEEN WAITING AROUND , AND THIS IS THE ONLY AUTOMOBILE I HAVE TO DRIVE. I REALLY DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT , IF IT COULD POTENTIALLY DEPLOY AND SEND SHARDS OF METAL FRAGMENTS AT ME.

AT THE DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE COIL SPRING ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY PARTIALLY REPAIRED AND THE DEALER CHARGED THE CONTACT FOR THE COIL SPRING CORROSION REPAIR. AFTERWARDS, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE VEERED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE FALL OF 2017 FOR THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG. WHEN THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS WERE AVAILABLE IN THE SPRING OF 2018 & CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE WORK DONE. I WAS TOLD WHEN I ARRIVED THAT BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS FLASHING THEY NEEDED TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT WOULD COST $100+ TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS SAFE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. THEY STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS/SPIRAL CABLE MAY BE THE PROBLEM & THAT IT WOULD COST $1000+ TO REPLACE EVERYTHING & THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 94000 MILES. I REALLY LIKE THE CAR, BUT I ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. DO I HAVE ANY RIGHTS HERE? I CALLED NISSANONE & THEY GAVE ME A CASE # 31081454, THEY CONTACTED THE DEALER & THEY WERE TOLD THAT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED FIRST. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 10 YEARS, BROUGHT IT NEW, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NEVER CAME ON. MAYBE THE DEALER USED "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT AS A BLANKET TERM FOR ANY LIGHT THAT LIGHTS UP ON THE DASH BOARD. I DON'T KNOW. THE NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE JUST KEEP SAYING THAT FOR SAFETY REASONS I NEEDED TO HAVE IT CHANGES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE OR MAYBE TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER. I WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE ABOUT 40 MILES TO ANOTHER NISSAN DEALER, WHICH IS OK, BUT WHY SHOULD I HAVE TOO DO THAT? ANY ASSISTANTS OR ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE ME IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

NEVER WAS CALLED OR RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATIONS BACK. MY CAR STILL HAS THE AIR BAGS SIGNAL ON. TAKATA RECALL: LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP (SANDY SANSING NISSAN, PENSACOLA FLORIDA) WAS CONTACTED BY US SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 4 MONTHS, REQUESTING INFORMATION ON THIS RECALL. WE WERE TOLD THE PART TO REPAIR THE AIRBAG IS NOT AVAILABLE AND WON'T BE UNTIL SPRING 2018. WHEN I CALLED AGAIN TODAY, I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING, BUT ALSO TOLD BY THE NISSAN SERVICEMAN, "THIS IS A VOLUNTARY RECALL BY NISSAN, DONE OUT OF AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION. NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT." I ASKED HIM IF IT WAS THE AIRBAG RECALL THAT HAD BEEN IN THE PRESS FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS FOR TAKATA AND HE SAID, "NO. THIS IS A DIFFERENT PART - JUST REPLACING THE INFLATORS AND ISN'T ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. THERE IS NO THREAT TO LIFE OR WELL BEING OF DRIVERS OR PASSENGERS." I ASKED IF HE WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND HE SAID, "NO, BUT YOU CAN CALL ME EVERY FEW WEEKS TO SEE IF THE PARTS ARE IN." I LOOKED UP THE RECALL ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND IT IS, INDEED THE TAKATA RECALL THAT PEOPLE HAVE DIED AND/OR BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED FROM THE AIRBAGS BEING FAULTY. THIS IS MY 18 YEAR OLD SON'S CAR. I'M REALLY TICKED OFF AND CONCERNED.

I'VE HAD A RENTAL FOR 3 MONTHS WHILE AWAITING PARTS (EXPECTED SPRING 2018) ON 12/19/07, ADAM RUEHMAN, (SERVICE ADVISOR) CALLS ME & TELLS ME HE'S GETTING "SCREAMED AT" BECAUSE I'VE HAD THE RENTAL SO LONG. HE SAID THAT HE HAD MY AIRBAG READY. I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD BOTH, BECAUSE THAT WAS STRANGE. I CALLED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS WHO CONFIRMED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE BOTH AIRBAGS, ONLY ONE. THAT I CAN TAKE MY CAR TO FIX ONE & KEEP THE RENTAL UNTIL THEY GOT THE OTHER ONE. I HAD TO WORK SO I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE MORNING. THE NEXT DAY,12/20, ADAM CALLS ME TELLING ME AGAIN, THAT THEY HAVE BOTH PARTS. NISSAN HQ CALLS AGAIN & TELLS ME NOW, THAT THE SERVICE DEPT SAID THAT THEY DO HAVE PARTS FOR BOTH AIRBAGS. I BRING MY CAR IN & ADAM TELLS ME THAT IT WILL BE 300$ BECAUSE I NEED A SPRING THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE AIRBAG & THAT'S ALSO THE REASON MY HORN DOESN'T WORK. FINALLY WITH RUN AROUND, ANOTHER SERVICE TECH GAVE US THE PAPWERWORK FOR THE LOANER CAR. WE CALLED ENTERPRISE AGAIN TO BOOK THE CAR AND GOT THEIR AT THE 5:00 PM, WHEN THE CAR WAS RESERVED. IT TOOK 90 MINUTES FOR ENTERPRISE TO GET THE CAR AFTER WHICH SERVICE MANAGER RENEETA REFUESED TO GIVE US A CAR UNTIL WE PAID A DEPOSIT. SHE PERSISTED AND SUGGESTED THAT IF WE DID NOT BUY INSURANCE, THE SMALLEST DENT ON THE CAR WILL COME OFF OUR PERSONAL INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE, EVEN IF NOT OUR FAULT. TAKATA RECALL: THIS IS THIRD TIME AIRBAG INFLATOR LIGHT GOES ON. HAD RECALL REPAIRED A YR AGO AT CLERMONT, FL DEALER. AFTER REPAIR WAS DONE NOTICED HORN, AIR CONDITIONER AND DEFROST BUTTONS NOT WORKING ON PANEL. I IMMEDIATELY POINTED IT OUT TO DEALER. THEY FIXED AIR CONDITIONER BUTTON ONLY, SAID THE OTHER TWO ISSUES WERE NOT THERE PROBLEM. I SPOKE TO WARRANT DEPT THAT DAY AT THE DEALERSHIP TO NO AVAIL DEPT. STATED CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. IF I WANTED IT FIXED I HAD TO PAY. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM I HAD TO PAY AND THEY WOULD GLADLY GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE. THEY FIXED PROBLEM. 2 MONTHS LATER AIRBAG INFLATOR LIGHT GOES ON AGAIN. I WENT TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN CLERMONT AND THEY STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL ON FILE. THEY WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN THEY RECIEVED INFORMATION ABOUT IT. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO MANAGER THAT I SPOKE TO THE WARRANTY DEPT AND THEY STATED I NEEDED TO BRING VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED RIGHT AWAY. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY WOULD ONLY PROVIDE THE LOANER CAR WITH MY 20 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVING IF WE PAID $25.00 PER DAY FOR 9 MONTHS. NOW THIS IS THEIR RECALL, THEY ARE THE ONES THAT SAID IT WAS ABSOLUTELY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BUT THEY WANT ME TO PAY OVER $6000 IN RENTAL FEES? SO EITHER MY DAUGHTER DRIVES AN UNSAFE CAR OR WE HAVE TO BASICALLY PAY THE VALUE OF A NEW CAR IN RENTAL COSTS. SO I DID WHAT NISSAN TOLD ME TO DO AND WENT TO A DEALERSHIP, TO PICK UP A LOANER VEHICLE PROVIDED FROM NISSAN. WE WENT THROUGH ALL OF THE PAPERWORK AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SPRING 2018. I ACCEPTED THIS FACT AND WAS WILLING TO ACCEPT THEIR LOANER VEHICLE AND BRING MY CAR HOME AND NOT DRIVE IT. WHEN WE GOT TO THE RENTAL AGREEMENT THEY INFORMED ME I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE VEHICLE FOR LYFT OR UBER DRIVING, LYFT IS MY MAIN SOURCE OF INCOME AND I HAVE NO OTHER OPTION. I AM ALSO A DRIVER FOR AMAZON FLEX AND I'M LEAVING PIZZA HUT. WHEN I WENT TO SIGN THE RENTAL AGREEMENT THEY INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE THEIR VEHICLE FOR MY JOB. ALSO THEY INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO CONTACT NISSAN FOR IT TO BE APPROVED TO BE ABLE TO USE THE VEHICLE FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION AND INCOME. SO I CONTACTED NISSAN AND THE PERSON I WAS CONNECTED WITH ESCALATED MY CASE TO A REGIONAL NISSAN MANAGER. THE SECOND PERSON CALLED ME BACK WITHIN A FEW HOURS AND INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE VEHICLE FOR MY JOB, AND THAT IF I CHOOSE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE MY CURRENT VEHICLE I WOULD BE RELINQUISHING ANY RIGHTS IF THE AIRBAGS WERE TO HARM ME. SO I EITHER CHOOSE TO ACCEPT THEIR LOANER VEHICLE AND FIND A NEW JOB, OR REFUSE THE CAR AND DRIVE MY CURRENT VEHICLE WITH AIRBAGS THAT MIGHT HARM ME AND OR OCCUPANTS OF MY VEHICLE. WHILE I WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP I ATTEMPTED EVERYTHING I POSSIBLY COULD I EVEN ASKED IF THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO ACCEPT MY CAR AS A TRADE IN THEY DENIED TO THIS BECAUSE OF THE AIRBAGS. MY CAR'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME UP. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND IT WAS A FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND FOR THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS DUE TO A BAD AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT AND CLOCK SPRING. THE CAR WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAD AROUND 80K MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED.

TAKATA RECALL - BACK IN AUGUST I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM NISSAN SAYING THAT MY PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS FAULTY AND I SHOULD NOT USE MY PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THEY ARE ABLE TO FIX IT. I HAVE MADE REPEATED CALLS TO NISSAN AND TO THE DEALERSHIP IN ALL CASES THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT UNTIL THEY TELL ME THE PARTS ARE READY. MY CAR IS 10 YEARS OLD AND I THINK NISSAN IS JUST DELAYING IT HOPING THE CAR WILL GO AWAY. I NEED TO USE ALL FOUR SEATS OF MY CAR. I HAVE CONTACTED AUTONATION NISSAN PEMBROKE PINES ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS REQUESTING A RENTAL OR THAT THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG BE REMOVED AS I CARRY PEOPLE IN MY CAR EVERYDAY. EACH TIME I CALL I'M GIVEN EXCUSES. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REMOVED IMMEDIATELY, ITS BETTER TO NOT HAVE ONE THAN ONE THAT CAN KILL YOU EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT DRIVING. "TAKATA RECALL" IN JUNE 2016, WE RECEIVED A LETTER THE MAIN NISSAN HEADQUARTERS TELLING US THAT OUR 2007 VERSA HAD A VERY BAD AIR BAG PROBLEM. THE LETTER SAID THAT IN SEPT. OF 2016 ALL DEALERS WOULD RECEIVE THE NECESSARY PARTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THE LETTER ALSO STATED THAT THE DEALER WOULD LET US KNOW BY LETTER AND SO WOULD THE NISSAN HEADQUARTERS. THE LETTER ALSO STATED THAT YOU SHOULDN'T LET ANY PERSON SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.BECAUSE THE PERSON COULD BE HARMED OR KILLED. SO WE WAITED UNTIL SEPT. 2016 FOR SOME NEWS BUT NONE CAME. AT THE END OF SEPT., 2016 I DROVE TO WESLEY CHAPEL NISSAN, IN WESLEY CHAPEL, FL TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, BRANDON MALATINO. HE TOLD ME THE PARTS HAD NOT COME IN. SO 2 MORE MONTHS WENT BY AND WE HADN'T HEARD FROM THE NISSAN PEOPLE. I TOOK ANOTHER TRIP TO WESLEY CHAPEL NISSAN TO SPEAK WITH BRANDON MALATINO . THEY H AD CHANGED AIR BAG MANUFACTURES AND THE PARTS WOULD BE OUT IN THE NEAR FUTURE. NOT HEARING ANYTHING BY THE END OF DEC. I TOOK ANOTHER TRIP TO WESLEY CHAPEL NISSAN.( BRANDON MALATINO WOULD NOT ANSWER EITHER ONE OF THE 2 PHONE NUMBERS THAT HE GAVE ME) AND SPOKE TO HIM AGAIN. SAME STORY...NO PARTS, BUT NEXT TIME E-MAIL ME. LATE IN JAN., 2017 I DID JUST THAT AND HE DIDN'T RESPOND TO MY E-MAIL. SO, I CALLED THE NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AGAIN. THIS TIME I ADMIT I WAS A TAD ANGRY. THE LADY ON THE PHONE REITERATED THE SAME STORY THAT I HEARD BEFORE AND THAT IS WE ARE CHANGING MANUFACTURERS (ON WHAT PLANET ARE THESE PARTS BEING MADE?) I CALLED NISSAN TODAY AFTER SEVERAL TRANSFERS AND WAS TOLD THAT MAYBE THEY WOULD HAVE SOME PARTS DURING THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2017. SHOULDN'T OUR GOVERNMENT FINE THESE CAR COMPANIES? WHERE IS OUR CONGRESS AND SENATORS ON THESE TYPES OF SAFETY ISSUES? HIDING IN THE WEEDS? COLLECTING THEIR FAT SALARIES? TAKATA RECALL ON NOVEMBER 9TH I BROUGHT MY VERSA INTO THE DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL, REPLACING THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. HOWEVER, SOME OF THE THINGS THAT THEY SAID AND DID MADE ME SUSPICIOUS THAT PERHAPS THEY DID NOT ACTUALLY PERFORM THE WORK OR REPLACE THE OLD AIRBAG. SOMETIME IN EARLY 2016 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM NISSAN INFORMING ME OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG RECALL AND TELLING ME NOT TO ALLOW ANYONE TO SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, AND TO WAIT UNTIL I GOT A SECOND LETTER WHEN THE PART WAS AVAILABLE. IN EARLY NOVEMBER, I HAD ALREADY BEEN WAITING FOR MANY MONTHS FOR THIS SECOND LETTER FROM NISSAN, BUT THE LETTER NEVER CAME AND STILL HAS NOT COME. SO I CALLED MY DEALER ON NOVEMBER 8TH TO SEE IF PERHAPS THE SECOND LETTER HAD BEEN LOST IN THE MAIL, AND IF THE PART WAS NOW AVAILABLE. THE DEALER SAID YES, THE NEW INFLATOR JUST CAME IN, AND TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN, WHICH I DID FIRST THING THE NEXT MORNING. THEY CALLED AN HOUR LATER TO SAY THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PART. THEN THEY LATER SAID THEY FOUND IT. THEN THEY PERFORMED THE WORK IN ABOUT AN HOUR OR LESS. IT SEEMED TOO FAST. AS I WAS DRIVING AWAY, I REALIZED THAT I ONLY HAD THEIR WORD FOR IT THAT THEY HAD ACTUALLY PERFORMED THE WORK. SO I CALLED THE NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND GOT TO SPEAK TO THEIR CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT. MY REGIONAL CASE MANAGER AT NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS INVESTIGATED BY CALLING MY DEALER AND THEN CALLED ME BACK. HE TOLD ME THAT THE DEALER SAID THEY PERFORMED AN "INTERIM REPAIR" ON MY VEHICLE AND THAT I WILL BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PERMANENT REPLACEMENT PART BECOMES AVAILABLE! HE SAID THE NEW AIRBAG THAT I RECEIVED WAS ANOTHER TAKATA AIRBAG THAT HAD NEVER BEEN EXPOSED TO HUMIDITY. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT AIRBAG IS ACTUALLY IN MY CAR NOW. I RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE TAKATA PASSENGER AIRBAG RECALL IN AUGUST, 2016. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO HAVE PASSENGERS IN MY CAR SINCE AUGUST WITHOUT RISKING THEIR DEATHS. NISSAN HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. DESPITE MANY CALLS & MANY PROMISES FROM THEM THAT THE PARTS WILL BE IN "SOON," THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT APOLOGIZE. TOYOTA & HONDA SEEM TO BE ABLE TO GET PARTS BUT NISSAN SAYS THEY CAN'T. DOCUMENTATION ON SAFECAR.GOV SUGGESTS THAT THERE IS AN INTERIM FIX FOR THIS RECALL, HOWEVER, MY DEALER COULD FIND NO RECORD OF THIS IN THEIR SYSTEM NOR HAVE THEY RECEIVED ANY COMMUNICATION FROM NISSAN SINCE THE INITIAL RELEASE. THE LATEST UPDATE SHOWS THAT PARTS FOR A FINAL FIX MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL DECEMBER OR LATER. TAKATA INFLATORS - I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION SOMETIME DURING MID SUMMER 2016, FOR NHTSA RECALL 16V-349 FROM NISSAN NORTH AMERICAN INC. I WAS INFORMED OF THE DEFECT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATORS. THE RECALL NOTIFICATION LETTER INDICATED THAT NISSAN WAS "AWAITING PARTS TO REMEDY THE AFFECTED VEHICLES". I WAS TO BE SENT A SECOND LETTER WHEN PARTS WERE AVAILABLE AND ARRANGE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALER FOR REPAIRS. DURING THE BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER 2016 MY VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR OTHER REPAIRS AND WE INQUIRED AS TO WHEN THEY THOUGHT PARTS MIGHT BE AVAILABLE. WE WERE TOLD THE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE AVAILABLE ANY TIME AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THEM ONCE THEY WERE AVAILABLE. TODAY I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AT THE PHONE NUMBER LISTED ON THE ORIGINAL AND ONLY RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED. I WAS TOLD THAT REPAIRS SHOULD ALREADY HAVE BEEN MADE TO MY VEHICLE, TO CONTACT THE DEALER AND IF THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO SCHEDULE AND MAKE REPAIRS TO CONTACT THEM AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER, NISSAN OF MCKINNEY (TEXAS) AND WAS PUT ON HOLD TO SEE IF THEY COULD SCHEDULE MY VEHICLE FOR REPAIRS, AND CAME BACK AND IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED REPAIRS FOR NEXT WEEK. I FIND IT APPALLING THAT A SAFETY RECALL, WHICH COULD RESULT IN THE DEATH OF AN INDIVIDUAL, WAS SO POORLY EXECUTED BY BOTH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, WHO FAILED TO SEND OUT THE SECOND LETTER THE ORIGINAL NOTIFICATION INDICATED WOULD BE SENT, AND THE DEALER WHO SO DEFTLY IGNORED ANY RESPONSIBILITY ON FOLLOWING THROUGH ON EVEN CONTACTING US ABOUT PARTS, WHEN WE HAD QUERIED THEM SO RECENTLY. WE BOUGHT THE 2007 VERSA NEW AND IT IS STILL REGISTERED IN THE SAME NAMES, AT THE SAME ADDRESS AND EVEN MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED AT THE SAME SELLING DEALER. TAKATA RECALL (NHTSA RECALL 16V-349) - MY COMPLAINT IS THAT NISSAN NORTH AMERICA DENIED VEHICLE OWNER'S REQUEST TO PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THE DEFECT IS REPAIRED. THE REQUEST WAS BASED ON POTENTIAL SAFETY RISK POSED BY THE SUBJECT DEFECT TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS USED/DRIVEN. THE RECALL NOTICE SAYS THE DEFECT MAY RESULT IN "METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH." THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE RISK. THE VEHICLE OWNER'S ONLY RECOURSE IS TO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE, WHICH IS ALSO UNACCEPTABLE GIVEN THE NEED TO USE IT. WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IS WHY IT TOOK 9 YEARS TO DISCOVER THIS DEFECT AND WHAT I DO NOT LIKE IS BEING TOLD HOW I MUST UTILIZE MY VEHICLE IN ORDER TO PROTECT OTHER PASSENGERS. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND ASKED THEM ABOUT ANY RECALLS FOR THIS CAR AND THEY SAID NO. HOWEVER, I WENT ON -LINE TO SEVERAL WEBSITES, SUCH AS WWW.INTERNETAUTOGUIDE.COM AND FOUND THAT THEY ARE RECALLS ON MY 2007 NISSAN VERSA 4DOOR HATCHBACK SINCE JUNE 18, 2007 DUE TO A MANUFACTURING PROCESS WITH REGARDS TO THE TERMINALS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR HARNESS CONNECTOR WHICH RESULTS IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONTINUITY CAUSING THE OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. I PURCHASED A 2007 NISSAN VERSA IN JULY OF 2006; 3 WEEKS LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG COVER CAME OFF THE DASHBOARD. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY PUSHED IT BACK IN AND ORDER A NEW ONE. THEY SAID IT WASN'T A SAFETY CONCERN. THEY NEW BACK TOOK ABOUT 2 MONTHS TO ARRIVE. THEY REPLACED IT AND A BOUT A WEEK LATER THE AIR BAG COVER CAME OFF THE DASH BOARD AGAIN. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY KEPT IT FOR A 2 DAYS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD SCREWED/ BOLTED DOWN THE AIR BAG TO THE INSIDE OF THE DASH BOARD. LAST WEEK I CALLED THEM BECAUSE THE COVER CAME OFF ONCE AGAIN AND THEY CALLED A FIELD ENGINEER TO COME TAKE A LOOK AT THE CAR, MEANWHILE THEY SAY IS SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR LIKE IT IS RIGHT NOW. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED OF THE AIR BAG COVER EXPOSED LIKE IT IS? SENSE THIS IS THE 3RD TIME AM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IN CASE THE BAG DEPLOYS. *JB
