The contact owned a 2008 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that he had been receiving recall notifications of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22E066000 (Air Bags) and would like to be removed from the recall distribution list because he no longer owns the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted.

Traffic stopped suddenly when I hit my brakes they failed to work and the airbags didn’t work either so I ended up hitting my head on the roof of the car when I ran into the truck that suddenly stopped in front of me at speed of about 50mph. I don’t feel good but have no way to get medical attention right now. And was just released from having some head trauma the day before the accident. My car was totaled in the accident so I don’t need additional recall information on it, and no insurance to fix it so now I don’t have any way to get a new car.
i have a recall for airbag, i made appointment with dealership. on August 16 2023, went to the appointment and it took 4h to replace and they gave me a report that its been fixed, they replaced both driver and passenger side airbag, and the airbag light is off (attached picture of report) when i took the car i noticed the airbag light is still on. i went back and told them the issue and they retook the car for inspection. i waited another 1h and they brought me an invoice that there is a cable from airbag to the car, this needs to be replaced and it cost 400$ without tax and without labor. my complain is that they pretended to replace and fix the airbag and they made sure there is no light on. upon taking the car i noticed it wasn't true. now they demand money for repair. i believe the dealership is not going to remedy the recall without charging

About 6 months ago my driver air bag light came on. We toLd shortly after that their is a recall on that exact thing I have been but still get no. I am worried as it now is flashing instead of steady
TODAY WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, CAR SLID AND ROLLED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CAR IS COMPLETELY TOTALED AND I WAS INFORMED THAT 100% AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED BUT THEY DID NOT. CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND THERE IS RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE FOR AIRBAGS BUT MY VIN DOES NOT MATCH THE DATABASE.

I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE RECALLED SPRINGS, THEY WERE FIXED. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE REPLACEMENT AIR BAG, IT WAS FIXED. THEN THE LIGHT CAME ON ON THE AIRBAG AGAIN AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR AND IT WOULD COST THOUSANDS TO FIX IT. HE SAID THE CAR WAS WORTH LESS THAN THE FIX WOULD COST.
TAKATA RECALL - I CANNOT GET MY LOCAL DEALERS TO RETURN MY CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED. I CONTINUE TO GET WARNING NOTICES FROM NISSAN USA, BUT LOCAL DEALERS AVOID SCHEDULING RECALLS, ALWAYS SAYING THEY MUST "CONFER WITH THE PRODUCTION MANAGER TO ENSURE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE", THEY THEN PROMISE TO CALL BACK BUT NEVER DO. I HAVE LEFT PHONE NUMBERS AND EMAIL ADDRESSES AND NEVER HEARD FROM EITHER OF THEM. AT THIS POINT I BELIEVE THEY ARE STALLING ON THE FIXES HOPING THE OLDER CARS SIMPLY DIE AND GO TO THE GRAVEYARD FIRST.

WE RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM NISSAN THAT THE AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE WAS VERY DANGEROUS. DO NOT LET ANYONE RIDE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I WENT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDNT GET THE PARTS TO FIX IT. IT WAS APPROXIMATLEY 8-9 MONTHS LATER WHEN THEY FINALLY RECEIVED THE PARTS. LT WAS A REAL HARDSHIP TO NOT CARRY ANY PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT FOR THAT LONG. THE DEALER ALLOWED ME TO TAKE ONE OF THEIR CARS FOR 1 WEEKEND BUT I COULDNT ASK FOR ANY MORE. I AM NOT SURE ABOUT ANY DATES ANYMORE.

I DECLINED AS IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT DIDN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED. A FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS TOLD ABOUT A RECALL AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WOULD BE IN IN JULY 2017. IT IS NOW DECEMBER 2017 AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE PART WILL NOT BE IN UNTIL JULY 2018. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED BUT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR AND WOULD LIKE THE PART TO BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

AFTER RECEIVING EACH NOTICE, AT MY NEXT SERVICE APPOINTMENT (PRIORITY NISSAN, TYSONS CORNER, VIRGINIA) I INQUIRED, AND I WAS TOLD THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE, BUT WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN COMING MONTHS (E.G., IF I ASKED IN OCTOBER, I WAS TOLD THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN SPRING). I AM BEGINNING TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO REAL INTENTION TO HONOR THESE RECALLS, AND I AM FEELING SOMEWHAT UNEASY WHEN DRIVING THE CAR.

SO I WAS GIVEN AT RENTAL CAR SINCE THEY WERE OUT OF LOANER CARS AT FRED ANDERSON NISSAN OF RALEIGH, NC. WHICH IS GOOD. TWO WEEKS AGO I GOT A CALL FROM THE PARTS DEPT. OF FRED ANDERSON STATING THAT MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG PART IS IN AND I SHOULD COME FOR A REPAIR, SO I ASKED IF THEY HAD AN OFFICIAL LETTER FROM NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, BECAUSE I HAD NOT RECEIVED THE SECOND LETTER NOTIFYING ME OF THE PART BEING AVAILABLE. I ASKED HIM WHAT BRAND AND HE (ALEX) SAID TAKATA AND IT WAS A LIMITED SUPPLY. NOW THAT COMPANY AND ALL ITS HOLDINGS HAVE GONE BANKRUPT. I SAID I WOULD CALL HIM BACK. THEN I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM THEIR INTERNET SALES PERSON CHAD SUSAN STATING THAT I SHOULD BRING MY CAR IN AND TRADE IT IN FOR A NEW CAR, SINCE THE RECALL PART WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SPRING 2018, THEY WOULD TAKE MY CAR NOW IF I WANTED TO TRADE IT IN FOR A NEW CAR. HMMMM SAME DEALERSHIP. THEN I GOT A CALL FROM LAUREN FROM SERVICE STATING THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL PART IS IN. SO I CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON 11/10/17 ANS SPOKE TO BRIDGETTE AND SHE SAID THE RECALL PART IS NOT IN AND WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY LIMITED SUPPLY OF AIRBAGS FOR THE DRIVER SIDE RECALL. SHE SAID SHE WOULD OPEN A CLAIM AND A CLAIM REP,. WOULD CALL FROM A 615 NUMBER. SO I GOT A CALL FROM JACCO FROM NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CLAIMS WHO STATED THAT HE SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND SERVICE DIRECTOR AND THEY HAD A LIMITED SUPPLY OF THE AIRBAGS. SO I ASKED JACCO TO SEND ME A LETTER OR AN EMAIL STATING THAT THEY INDEED HAVE A LIMITED SUPPLY OF AIRBAGS FOR THE RECALL PART AND HE SAID HE COULD NOT DO THAT. THIS IS ALARMING!!!!!! EVEN IF TAKATA!

FIRST TIME, I WAS TOLD A TEMPORARY PART WAS PUT IN UNTIL THE PERMANENT ONE CAME FROM THE MANUFACTURER (THAT WAS EARLIER THIS YEAR), THEN I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS SAME DEALERSHIP THAT THE PERMANENT PART WAS IN. SO I TOOK IT BACK IN JULY FOR IT TO BE INSTALLED AND YET, THAT PART HAS BEEN RECALLED ALSO. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME "THEY ARE WAITING ON THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART THAT WILL FINALLY FIX THIS ISSUE WITH THE TAKATA INFLATOR AIRBAG ISSUE. MEANWHILE AND AS I WAIT, I AM PUTTING MYSELF IN DANGER DRIVING THE CAR AND THOSE WHO RIDE WITH ME. THIS INFLATOR ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND SOON! TAKATA RECALL - OUR 2008 NISSAN VERSA HAD A RECALL NOTICE THAT I RECEIVED IN MARCH 2017, STATING "DO NOT ALLOW PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT" DUE TO METAL SHRAPNEL POTENTIALLY STRIKING DRIVER OR PASSENGERS AND CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. IT ALSO STATED "NISSAN ANTICIPATES PARTS TO BE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR VERSA BY THE END OF APRIL 2017". SINCE THEN, I HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY NEW UPDATES OR NOTICE FROM NISSAN. IN AUGUST 2017, I PHONED NISSAN'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS DIVISION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG ALSO HAD A RECALL FOR SIMILAR FATAL RISK. THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO A FORM OF COMPENSATION SINCE THE CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. AFTER SETTING ME UP WITH A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP (CAMPBELL NISSAN OF EDMONDS), I WOULD FIND OUT THE DEALERSHIP EXPECTED ME TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AS A PREREQUISITE TO GET SETUP WITH ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR. THIS SEEMED TO BE FLAWED PLAN, CONSIDERING THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG POSED A FATAL RISK. ALONG WITH THAT, BECAUSE THE RENTAL CAR WOULD REQUIRE ME TO ADD INSURANCE NEW COVERAGES, NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ANY ADDITIONAL INSURANCE COST I HAD TO ASSUME FOR THEIR RENTAL LOANER VEHICLE. I WAS IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT. THE TROUBLE LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. I WENT OVER THE DEPRESSIONS IN THE CENTER OF THE ROAD TO PASS A CAR AND THE TIRE PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON. NOW NONE OF THE POWER WINDOWS WORK. THE REASON FOR RECALL IS AS STATED - "CONTINUED EXPOSURE TO AREAS WITH HIGH LEVELS OF ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY MAY CAUSE THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR HOUSING TO RUPTURE AND DEPLOY ABNORMALLY RESULTING IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH." WHAT YOU SHOULD DO, AS STATED IN THE LETTER - "ONCE YOU RECEIVE AN INVITATION TO REPAIR LETTER, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR NISSAN RETAILER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. IN THE MEANTIME, DO NOT ALLOW PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IF YOU REMAIN CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIR BAG INFLATOR IN YOUR VEHICLE, CONTACT THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT AT 1-800-647-7261. WELL WE WAITED AT LEAST 3 WEEKS WITH NO LETTER SO WE CALLED. THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND WON'T BE UNTIL MAYBE SEPTEMBER, THEY ARE GOING TO BE MANUFACTURED. THE VERSA IS VERY SMALL AND THE DRIVER IS ABOUT A FOOT AWAY FROM THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. THIS IS A TERRIFYING PROSPECT THAT AIR BAG MAY EXPLODE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR WHICH I PAID $17,000 FOR IN 2008 AND I CANNOT CARRY PASSENGERS. THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD KEEPS BLINKING AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT SAYS IT IS OFF ON THE CENTER CONSOLE EVEN WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. HAD IT CHECKED ONCE BEFORE AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE AND A FRIEND WHO HAD THE SAME LIGHTS ON HER 2007 VERSA HAD TO GO ON THREE TIMES TO GET IT TURNED OFF AFTER BEING CHECKED. IT WOULD KEEP COMING BACK ON AND FINALLY TOOK IT IN FOR THE FOURTH TIME THEY SAID SHE WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS AND IT WAS OGLING TO COST $1200 BUT SHE TOOK IT TO A SECOND OPINION AND THEY TOLD HER A CABLE UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE FIXED FOR $80 AND IT FIXED HER VERSA. I HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO TAKE MINE IN TO GET CHECKED FOR THE SECOND TIME BUT IT CONCERNS ME DRIVING WONDERING IF IT'S BROKE. OR JUST A SMALL CABLE THAT NEEDS FIXING

ON 8/13/2014 MY CAR WAS TRANSFERRED TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER (WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE) FOR INSPECTION BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY. AT THE DEALERSHIP THE RADIO ISSUE WAS COMMUNICATED BY MY HUSBAND TO TO THE DEALERSHIP COLLISION MANAGER, A DEALERSHIP SALESMAN AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY ADJUSTOR. THE ADJUSTOR AND MY HUSBAND TOOK PHOTOS OF THE EXPELLED RADIO THAT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATED BROKEN PLASTIC ASSEMBLY/LATCH TABS. THE RADIO AND PHOTO WAS SHOWN TO THE NISSAN SALESMAN. THE COMMENT FROM THE DEALERSHIP COLLISION MANAGER TO MY HUSBAND WAS "HE SEES THIS ALL THE TIME WITH NISSANS" AS THE RADIO IS NOT BOLTED AND CAN BECOME DISENGAGED WHEN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS COMPRESSED. MY HUSBAND COMMUNICATED THIS INCIDENT TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CONSUMER AFFAIRS (FILE NUMBER 15337234).
