Oil is getting into the radiator and causing a gray gunk build up in radiator and possibly the engine. I have had the car less than a 1 1/2 years And I've already had to have the same issue fixed 3 × first time. The heater hose blew out caused an air bubble in the radiator which caused us to have to burp the radiator Which is when we found it the first time had sent it to the mechanic. Had it flushed, had it fixed. it was fine or so we thought until about a month ago. Car overheats radiator fluid spews out everywhere. Fix the hose, add radiator fluid and start. The burping process again and out comes the gray gunk. Sent it back to mechanic had it flush had gaskets to the transmission cooler and Oil cooler fixed. Mechanic cannot find how it's getting into radiator. Break pads wear prematurely due to calipers constantly sticking. Rust is everywhere on frame, suspension, shocks undercarriage and body. Vdc/slip light will come on while driving causing the car to stall at any speed. Fixed those sensors 2 times since I bought the car in December 2023 from a used car lot. State I I've in has no laws to protect people buying from used car lots but they do for new cars even though new cars come with warranties. Should be the other way around protect the people who can't afford the 30000 dollar cars. There's a reason we go to used car lots. Paid 4500 after taxes and registration and have put almost 5000 into it. Nissan is aware of the problem just not enough to deem a recall.

The vehicle was driving just fine, then about a month later the heat gauge started to fluctuate, i replaced the radiator caps, thermostat...it ran good for another month, started to overheat....i made sure water was in radiator and overflow...about a month went by the gauge started to fluctuate again, i had it towed to sayre auto parts in sayre, al to have a water pump installed and the mechanic told me their is now there is water in my oil, meaning a cracked head gasket...the vehicle never got over the 3/4 mark on gauge and this is the 2nd vehicle ive purchased that the same thing has happened to.

IN MARCH 2019 THE TRANSMISSION STARTED GETTING SLUGGISH WHILE DROPPING MY DAUGHTER AT SCHOOL ONE DAY. EVENTUALLY IT WOULD NOT SWITCH GEARS AS I PULLED IN MY DRIVEWAY FROM MY 1.5 MILE TRIP TO/FROM THE SCHOOL. EVENTUALLY IT WOULDN'T EVEN START IN MY DRIVEWAY EVEN WITH GOOD BATTERY. REPLACED A FUSE FOR THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE BUT IT BLEW THE FUSE. HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE DISCOVERED DISCOVERED THAT THE COOLANT MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE EVERYTHING INVOLVED. ALSO, THE MECHANISM THAT OPENS THE TAILGATE/TRUNK DOOR/LIFTGATE WILL NOT STAY OPEN, ESPECIALLY IN COLDER WEATHER. IT HAS HIT SEVERAL PEOPLE IN THE HEAD AND IS A DEFINITE HAZARD.

I BELIEVE WE WERE SHOWN A DIFFERENT CAR FAX I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SALESMAN'S WIFE'S TRUCK THAT SHE HAD JUST TRADED IN. I HAVE HAD VERY SERIOUS ISSUES THAT MADE NO SINCE FOR A TRUCK THAT HAD BEEN BABYED BY ME . COMPLETE ENIGEN FIRE IN FEBUARY NUREMOUS OIL LEAKS & RADIATOR MIXING WITH THE COOLANT OIL PAST 10 MONTHS. TURNS OUT THE EMERGENCY BREAK WAS COMPLETED RUSTED AND CRUMBLED AWAY FROM THE CAR - THIS WAS NOT THE ONLY THING THAT WAS RUSTED I DISCOVERED. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, IT IS EVIDENT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT FAULTY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS AND GUIDES THAT IT WAS USING ON CERTAIN MODEL YEAR XTERRAS, INCLUDING 2007. IF TIMING CHAIN FAILS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, IT CAN LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AND A $8000+ REPAIR BILL FOR A NEW ENGINE. NISSAN KNOWING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SENT SERVICE BULLETINS TO ITS SERVICE CENTERS BUT DID NOT INFORM CONSUMERS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD BE GOOD FOR THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE, BUT NOW MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME IT IS GOING TO COST AT LEAST $1900 TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN AND ALL COMPONENTS. NISSAN KNEW THE COMPONENTS ARE FAULTY AND YET DON'T CARE ENOUGH TO INFORM CONSUMERS. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. NISSAN KNEW THAT THE TRANSMISSION COOLERS ON SAME MODEL YEAR WERE FAULTY AND DID NOT INFORM CONSUMERS. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FORCED NISSAN TO FACE THE MUSIC, BUT CONSUMERS STILL HAD TO PAY OVER $2000 OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION, TRANSMISSION COOLER, AND RADIATOR.

THREE WEEKS AGO NOTICED SOME TRANNY SLIPPAGE WHILE DRIVING (NORMALLY 80 MILES A DAY, 5 DAYS A WEEK AND ALL ON HIGHWAYS), CHECKED FLUID, NO PROBLEM, NO LEAKS OR NOTHING, THOUGH MAYBE JUST DRAIN AND CHANGE FLUIDS. THEN 1 WEEK AGO TODAY, I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE SPIKED TO HOT AND RADIATOR STARTED TO SMOKE, STARTED TO MOVE ON THE GREEN LIGHT TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD FROM A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY AND I WAS IN THE SECOND LANE OVER, CAR STARTED TO CHUG AND BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF ROAD BEFORE IT QUIT, THEN A GRAY COLORED FLUID STARTED DRAINING OUT OF MY RADIATOR OVERFLOW ALL OVER THE GROUND. HAD TO MAKE THE CALL TO A SHOP AND THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BEFORE THEY CAME AND GOT IT. THEN AS I STARTED TO PROCEED DOWN THE CITY STREET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND 4WD LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD BARELY MOVE. I JUST BARELY GOT IT INTO THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME. AFTER I TURNED IT OFF I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO TURN OVER. I CHECKED ONLINE TO SEE WHAT WOULD CAUSE THESE SYMPTOMS TO FIND THAT HUNDREDS UPON THOUSANDS OF OTHER NISSAN OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME HAPPEN TO THEM. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE OF CROSS CONTAMINATION OF RADIATOR FLUID AND TRANSMISSION FLUID DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN IN THE RADIATOR. I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK MY ENGINE AS WELL AND HE CONFIRMED THAT THE GREY SLUDGE IN THE RADIATOR AND GRIT IN MY TRANSMISSION FLUID FIT THE SYMPTOMS OF THIS ISSUE. NOW I AM BEING TOLD I HAVE TO PAY OVER $5000.00 TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE BECAUSE OF A DESIGN FLAW THAT NISSAN REFUSES TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR. I AM LUCKY THAT THIS FAILURE HAPPENED IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD VERSUS THE INTERSTATE OR IT COULD HAVE NOT ONLY LEFT ME WITH FIGURING OUT HOW TO COME UP WITH $5000.00 BUT HOW TO PAY FOR HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR REPAIR BILLS TO OTHER CARS I MIGHT HAVE CAUSED TO WRECK DO TO THIS CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE.

LAST YEAR WHILE DRIVING MY CAR I BEGIN TO NOTICE A "JERKING" MOTION. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT I WOULD NEED A FLUSH AND THAT THIS WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. FAST FORWARD ROUGHLY A MONTH LATER AND MY CAR COMPLETELY GAVE OUT WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. NO WARNING JUST STOPPED DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS "GONE" BECAUSE THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. I SIMPLY CAN NOT AFFORD TO GET THE REPAIRS DONE BEING A SINGLE MOTHER. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN AND FILED A COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS SLIGHTLY OVER 100,00 MILES THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I FEEL AS THOUGH THIS IS S DEFECT IN THE EQUIPMENT THAT NISSAN IS SEEKING AND THE MILEAGE SHOULD NOT MATTER. THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF RESOLUTION ON THE MATTER. AS IT STANDS MY CAR HAS BEEN IMMOBILE FOR THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS AND I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS. IT'S A SAD SITUATION AND NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED, SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE.

I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STOPPED SHIFTING GEARS AND THE CAR DECELERATED. AFTER IT CAME TO A STOP, THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I PURCHASED A 2007 NISSAN XTERRA, FOLLOWING MY GRADUATION FROM COLLEGE IN 2007. IT WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY NEW CAR I'VE PURCHASED. I HAVE BEEN METICULOUS ABOUT THE MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP OF THE VEHICLE THE ENTIRE TIME I'VE OWNED IT. APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO, IT STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. THE XTERRA WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE VERY COMMON (AND SEEMINGLY CRIMINAL) COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION CONTAMINATION. I WAS TOLD IT WILL COST $5, 500 TO REPAIR MY XTERRA, IT REQUIRES A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR, IT IS NON-DRIVABLE. I'VE SPENT $2,000 IN RENTAL CAR COSTS OVER THE LAST 2 MONTHS, THE DIAGNOSIS OF THE VEHICLE TOOK 4 WEEKS BY NISSAN. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $5,500 TO REPAIR MY XTERRA. THE TRANSMISSION AND COOLANT CONTAMINATION ISSUE HAS LONG BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE BY NISSAN, PREVIOUS CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENTS DID NOTHING TO HELP THE CONSUMER. THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REFERENCE TO A 2007 NISSAN XTERRA OFF ROAD 4X4 WITH180,900 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SPONTANEOUSLY DOWNSHIFT TO LOW GEARS WHILE MOVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 25 MILE PER HOUR. AT ONE POINT, THE TRANSMISSION SEIZED AND LOCKED UP WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MILES PER HOUR, WHICH RESULTED IN A SUDDEN STOP IN THE MIDST OF THE TRAFFIC FLOW ON A TWO LANE ROAD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALER FOR SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. INSPECTION REVEALED COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION VIA A LEAKING TRANSMISSION COOLER ASSEMBLY INTEGRATED INTO THE MAIN ENGINE RADIATOR. THE TRANSMISSION SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL INTERNAL DAMAGE FROM THE COOLANT MIXING WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CIRCULATING THROUGH THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE RADIATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO MAKE THE VEHICLE ROADWORTHY AGAIN. TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR WITH TAXES WAS $4800.00. NISSAN SERVICE MANAGER AND TECHS AT DEALERSHIP INDICATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE XTERRA AND FRONTIER MODEL VEHICLES, YET NO PROACTIVE ACTION WAS TAKEN DURING PREVIOUS SERVICE APPOINTMENTS AT 30,000 MILE SERVICE INTERVALS, ROUTINE MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENTS, AND DURING YEARLY STATE VEHICLE INSPECTIONS CONDUCTED AT THE SAME NISSAN DEALERSHIP.

A HESITATION IN THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION BEGAN OCCURRING FREQUENTLY UPON DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AFTER A FULL STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT, BUT NOT AT ANY OTHER TIME IN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTED WHEN DEPARTING THE DEALERSHIP AFTER WHICH A NEW TIMING CHAIN HAD BEEN REPLACED. WHEN REVIEWED BY THE DEALERSHIP UPON RETURN TO THE SERVICE AREA (ANOTHER APPOINTMENT HAD BEEN MADE AT LATER TIME), A LOSS OF OVER ONE QUART OF TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS DETECTED (OVER WHAT TIME PERIOD WAS UNCLEAR), BUT NO KNOWN SOURCE OF EXTERNAL LEAKAGE WAS FOUND. THIS LED TO THE CONCLUSION THAT INTERNAL LEAKAGE WAS VERY LIKELY OCCURRING. DUE TO THE MANY INSTANCES OF RADIATOR CRACKS AND TOXIC MIXING OF FLUIDS AMONG SIMILAR YEAR MODELS (MID-2000 MODEL YEARS OF NISSAN XTERRA), THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED THAT THE RADIATOR BE REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION THOROUGHLY FLUSHED, WHICH MIGHT PREVENT THE TRANSMISSION FROM REQUIRING A COMPLETE OVERHAUL IN THE FUTURE - ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES. THIS WORK WAS COMPLETED FOR A TOTAL OF $1500 INCLUDING DISCOUNT; THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WELL AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR RESOLVING ISSUES THAT HAD BEEN EXPERIENCED BY OTHERS, HENCE THE DEALERSHIP'S CHARGES. A REQUEST WAS NONETHELESS MADE TO GET REIMBURSED BY THE MANUFACTURER (NISSAN), CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS ISSUE WAS DEALT WITH AT A VERY EARLY STAGE AND MIGHT THEREFORE RESULT IN A LOWER PROBABILITY OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE, WHICH COULD COST SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS ($6-7,000 OR MORE). THE COOLER HAD FAILED LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND VICE VERSA. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND COOLER ASSEMBLY. I HAD JUST UNDER 97,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO PAY $3300 FOR THE REPAIRS. FIRST NOTICED A STUTTERING WHEN DRIVING AND A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN MOVING THE SHIFTER FROM PARK TO REVERSE TO DRIVE IN FEBRUARY. ALSO EXPERIENCED NO HEAT AND OVER HEATING IN MARCH. UPON REPAIR OF THERMOSTAT, DRAINING THE RADIATOR SHOWED AN ACCUMULATION OF THICK GREY GUNK IN THE COOLANT. THERMOSTAT SEAL ITSELF WAS MELTED. HAD DEALER EVALUATE CLUNKING SOUND AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS INTERMIX (THE PROBLEM IDENTIFIED BY THE COOLANT) A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION COOLING COMPONENTS THAT ALLOWS THE COOLANT TO CONTAMINATE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CAUSING TRANSMISSION DAMAGE. AT 60MPH AND ALSO 40MPH THE VEHICLE VIBRATES HEAVILY AND IS SLOW TO REACT TO POWER INPUTS WITH NO WARNING SIGNS PRIOR. THIS WAS DETERMINED TO BE CAUSED BY THE KNOWN DEFECT RELATED TO THE RADIATOR / HEAT EXCHANGER, WHERE THE ENGINE COOLANT MIXES WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND GETS INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS THEN TURNS INTO A "PINK MILKSHAKE" CONSISTENCY FLUID AND COMPLETELY RUINS THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND VALVE ASSEMBLY. THIS REQUIRES A COMPLETE REBUILD OR REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THERE IS NO WARNING SIGN AND THIS AFFECTS THESE VEHICLES AT DIFFERENT RATES. THIS CAN CAUSE CARS TO SEIZE UP UNEXPECTEDLY IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR NISSAN TRUCKS MODEL YEAR 2005 - 2010 THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL. IT IS NOT A MATTER OF IF THIS WILL HAPPEN, IT IS A MATTER OF WHEN. I CALLED FOR AN APPT AND ONE WAS SCHEDULED FOR ME JULY 6TH. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP REP. WHAT I HAD EXPERIENCED EARLIER IN THE WEEK AND WHAT I WAS STILL EXPERIENCING. THE REP MADE STATEMENT ABOUT LEAKY TRANSMISSION FLUID AND HE TOOK MY CAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. A FEW HOURS LATER, THE REP CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT MY RADIATOR FAILED. HE THEN STATED THAT AS A RESULT OF MY RADIATOR FAILING THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. AS A RESULT, I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION COSTING APPROXIMATELY $6800. HOW CAN THIS BE SINCE I GET MY CAR SERVICED REGULARLY? THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON MY VEHICLE. THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN, I BELIEVE THAT THIS ENGINEERING / MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHERE OVER TIME IT ALLOWS FLUIDS TO MIX FROM ONE CHAMBER INTO THE OTHER. I WAS YET AGAIN, ON THE HIGHWAY HEADING TO A JOB AND OVERHEATED, THUS DISABLING MY VEHICLE. I STAYED THE INTERSTATE FOR 3 HOURS WAITING ON ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I'M HAVING AN ISSUE WITH NISSAN NOT WILLING TO COVER WHAT'S CLEARLY THEIR PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH. IT'S NOT THE CONSUMER'S PROBLEM THAT THEY INSTALLED FAULTY COMPONENTS IN THEIR CARS AND TRUCKS, THAT CAUSED THE MAJOR MALFUNCTIONS. AFTER MY VEHICLE WAS MAKING SHUDDERING NOISES BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH I DECIDED TO BRING IT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED. I WAS TOLD THE RADIATOR LEAKED COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALSO TOLD THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR NISSAN SO THEY WOULD COVER PART OF THE REPAIR AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR $2500 OF THE REPAIR SINCE I WAS 1300 MILES OVER THE LIMIT. I WAS NOTIFIES THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I TOLD THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY AT MY DISPOSAL AND ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING I COULD DO. I WAS TOLD WHEN I GET THE MONEY TO CALL AND THEY WILL REPAIR IT, BUT TO ALSO HURRY BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION COULD LOCK UP ANYTIME AND CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I WAS SHOCKED THEY WOULD EVEN LET ME LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER AFFAIRS AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION. THEY TOLD ME I WAS THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST ME IN ANY WAY AND SUGGESTED THE SAME AS THE DEALERSHIP, TO QUICKLY GET IT REPAIRED BECAUSE I CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I WAS APPALLED THEY WOULD ALLOW THEIR CUSTOMERS BE IN DANGER AND ENDANGER OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROADS ESPECIALLY WHEN NISSAN ADMITS TO THIS BEING A QUALITY ISSUE THAT A MAJORITY OF THEIR CONSUMERS ARE HAVING. *TR

I'VE NOTICED THAT NISSAN HAS BEEN UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR RECEIVING A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FROM CONSUMERS IN REGARDS TO SUDDEN, CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURES IN 2005-2010 NISSAN PATHFINDER, FRONTIER AND XTERRA'S. WELL I AM WRITING TO TELL YOU THAT MY 2007 NISSAN XTERRA HAS FALLEN VICTIM TO THIS. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH THE PROBLEM OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLER LOCATED IN THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY THAT ALLOWED COOLANT TO MIX WITH AND CONTAMINATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID, RESULTING IN DAMAGED INTERNAL TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS AND A DAMAGED INTERNAL TRANSMISSION COMPUTER. LAST MONTH THE CAR SEEMED TO START SLIPPING GEARS WHEN I GOT UP TO AROUND 40 MILES PER HOUR. IT WAS SPORADIC AND ONCE I LET ME FOOT OFF THE GAS FOR A SECOND IT SEEMED TO CLEAR AND BE OK. I STARTED TO SEE A SLOW LEAK OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS OIL IN THE GARAGE WHERE I PARKED THE YESTERDAY. WHEN I MENTIONED THE LEAK TO A BUDDY AND ALSO TOLD HIM THAT MY HEATER WAS NOT WORKING, HE SAID WE SHOULD CHECK THE COOLANT IN THE RADIATOR. WHEN WE OPENED THE RADIATOR CAP, THERE WAS A SLIMY BROWNISH SLUDGE ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE CAP. THAT AFTERNOON, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC ACROSS THE STREET AND HE SAID THAT I HAD A RADIATOR FAILURE OF SOME THAT HAS CAUSED RADIATOR FLUID TO GET INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS WHERE THE BROWN SLUDGE HAS COME FROM. HE SAID THE CAR NEEDED A NEW RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE FLUSHED, DROPPED, AND SERVICED AND IT WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SOMETIME SOON AFTER. THE ENTIRE THING HE QUOTED ME AS COSTING $3K. I CALLED MY NISSAN DEALER WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR FROM NEW IN APRIL 2007 AND THE GENTLEMAN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEEMED QUITE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED ME THAT THE RADIATOR REPLACEMENT IS UNDER AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM NISSAN, BUT I WOULD STILL BE OUT OF POCKET FOR AT LEAST A $2500 CO-PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. *TR

MY 2007 XTERRA WITH 62K MILES BEGAN MAKING A WHINING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING . NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE I GET ALL MY MAJOR SERVICES DONE .THE TECHNICIAN TOOK A LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AND WITHIN MIN NOTIFY ME IT IS THE TIMING BELT CHAIN AND GUIDES , KNOWN ISSUE FOR MY NISSAN XTERRA . WHEN I ASK HIM IF HE IS SURE HE CONFIRM HE DOES FEW OF THIS EVERY MONTH AND THAT THE PROBLEM IS SO KNOWN THAT NISSAN HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN, WITH THE TITLE DESCRIBING THE ISSUE AND THE SYMPTOM ! HE HAS CONFIRM THE ISSUE IS WITH THE PLASTIC GUIDE THAT IS PART OF THE DESIGN . LOOKING ONLINE I FIND MANY NISSAN OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM . I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE NISSAN BRAND AND NOT SURE WHAT TO DO , IF I REPLACE THE PART , WILL IT HAPPEN AGAIN AS IT IS A DESIGN ISSUE ? GAS IN CAR WAS AT A 1/4 TANK AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WENT AND FILLED TANK UP AND GAS GAUGE NOT WORKING AFTER DRIVING THE CAR TWICE THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE GAUGE WAS WORKING 3 DAYS LATTER SAME ISSUE. I DO SEE WHERE THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2005, 2006, 2008 AND 2009 XTERRA FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT THEY FAILED TO RECALL THE 2007 YEAR FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED. *JS
