AT 60K MILES HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AND MOTOR (WITH 2003 CHEVY BLAZER). MIRRORS DON'T RECALL AND MOVE WHEN UNLOCKING CAR. PASSENGER SEAT BELT GETS TIGHT AFTER BRAKING AND HAS TO BE UNDONE, RECOILED, AND PUT BACK ON. BACKUP LIGHTS BLOW EVERY YEAR. THE AWD WAS FIXED TWICE BY DEALER AND MESSED UP AGAIN SO WE HAD IT REMOVED. THE AIR SUSPENSION BLEW & WAS REPLACED WITH SPRINGS. TERRIBLE RACKET IN THE REAR END. CONSUMER HAS HAD MULTIPLE, REOCCURING PROBLEMS WITH NEW VEHICLE SINCE FIRST PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2001. CAR HAS BEEN RETURNED TO DEALER MORE THAN 12 TIMES IN 18 MONTHS AND HAS PLACED SIGNIFICANT BURDEN ON THE OWNER. VEHICLE NOW HAS NEW MAJOR MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH BOTH THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THE LARGE NUMBER OF PERSISTENT PROBLEMS CLASSIFIES THIS VEHICLE AS UNRELIABLE AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, UNSAFE. OWNER HAS CONTACTED DEALER REGARDING A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE (LEMON LAW), HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP HAS DIRECTED THE OWNER TO THE MAKER COMPANY (GM/OLDSMOBILE). THE MAKER HAS RESPONDED BY INSISTING THAT THE WARRANTY WAS DESIGNED FOR SUCH PROBLEMS AND THEY HAVE REFERRED THE OWNER BACK TO THE DEALER FOR CONTINUAL REPAIRS. IN OTHER WORDS, NEITHER THE MAKER NOR THEIR REPRESENTATIVE DEALER IS WILLING TO ASSIST THE OWNER IN RESOLVING THE SITUATION. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SINCE CLOSED DUE TO OWNER RETIREMENT, AS WELL. MORE THAN FIVE COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO THE MAKER FROM THE OWNER BY EITHER PHONE, ELECTRONICALLY OR MAIL WITHOUT ANY POSITIVE FEEBACK FROM THE MAKER OR ANY ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. DESIGN OF SEAT BELT IS NOT PROPER. CONSUMER IS 6 FEET 4 INCHES TALL, AND THE SEAT BELT IS LOCATED ON SEAT. WHEN PUTTING ON SEAT BELT THERE IS A LOT OF PRESSURE ON CONSUMER'S SHOULDER. CONTACTED DEALER WHO WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE SEAT BELT ANCHOR IN THE SEAT IS TOO LOW AND SHOULD BE RAISED ABOUT 4 INCHES. THE SEAT BELT IS CURRENTLY BEING USED UNDER THE ARM. *SCC
PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKS INTO PLACE WITH LITTLE OR NO PASSENGER MOVEMENT, CANNOT BE RELEASED WITHOUT REMOVING SEATBELT COMPLETELY AND RETRACTING COMPLETELY. ALSO OWN A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER W/ SAME PROBLEM ON PASSENGER SIDE RESTRAINT. PASSENGER MUST REMOVE SEAT BELT EVERY FEW MINUTES JUST TO BREATHE OR TUCK SHOULDER STRAP BEHIND THEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS FLAW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT ON ALL 2002 BRAVADA'S, TRAILBLAZERS AND ENVOYS. DEALER HAS NO FIX AT THIS TIME EXCEPT TO TRY A SEAT BELT EXTENDER TO CHANGE PASSENGER SIDE ANGLE ON RESTRAINT BELT TO SEE IF IT HELPS. THIS SHOULD BE A SERIOUS RECALL ISSUE. WILL FILE SEPERATE COMPLAINT FOR 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER ALSO JUST PURCHASED. THIS DEFECT CAN CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY SHOULD A CRASH OCCUR WHILE PASSENGER IS UNRESTRAINED WHILE RETRACTING AND REAPPLYING RESTRAINT.
MEMORY MIRRORS DO NOT RETURN TO THEIR POSITION AFTER COMING FROM REVERSE. CONSUMER MUST ADJUST MIRRORS, WHILE DRIVING, TO GET THE BACK TO THE PROPER POSITION. PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT LOCKS WHILE BRAKING. CONSUMER MUST UNFASTEN THE SEAT BELT - WHILE MOVING - RECOIL AND THEN FASTEN SEATBELT TO RELEASE PRESSURE. TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS 15-30 SECONDS AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP IN COLD WEATHER. DOWNSHIFTS ARE HARD (FEELING LIKE VEHICLE HAS BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND) AND LONG (TIME BETWEEN GEARS).*AK
SUV T-BONED IN DRIVER DOOR AT ESTIMATED 40MPH. SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH SEAT WAS RIPPED FROM ITS MOORING. ON STAR SYSTEM DID NOT ACTIVATE TO SIGNAL 911. IN ADDITION THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE OPPOSITE THE ACCIDENT ROLLED OFF OF THE RIM. IS THIS NORMAL? ON AT LEAST FOUR OCCASIONS SINCE PURCHASING THE SUV THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKS WHILE STOPPING AND WILL NOT RELEASE. MUST UNBUCKLE AND RETRACT BEFORE IT CAN BE EXTENDED.*AK
CENTER REAR SEAT BELT DOES NOT WORK. RATCHING MECHANISM IN SEAT CONTINUES TO TIGHTEN WHEN PUT IT ON UNTIL IT'S TO MUCH PRESSURE. *AK GENERAL MOTORS COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY EXPLANATION OR LOGIC FOR WHY THE CENTER SEATBELT WORKS DIFFERENTLY THAN ALL THE OTHERS IN THE VEHICLE, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS NOT SAFE.
