I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE AC AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON EVERY SINCE I GOT IT ALSO. I HAVE FIXED EVERYTHING I CAN THINK TO FIX TO GET THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT OFF AND IT STILL IS ON. I HAVE BEEN BACK AND FORTH WITH THE DEALERSHIP THAT I GOT THE CAR FROM THEN THEY STARTED GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND B/C THEY JUST DIDN'T WANT TO FIX IT ANY MORE. THEN I TRIED TO GET IT FIXED WERE I LIVE AND ONE PLACE COULD NOT FIX IT B/C THEY SAID THAT I HAD A LIFE TIME WARRANTY ON IT SO I HAD TO TAKE IT TO A GM DEALER SHIP. THE ORIGINAL COMPANY SAID THAT I DIDN'T HAVE A WARRANTY ON IT AT ONE POINT. SO I TOOK IT TO THE OTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIXED IT ONE DAY , I CAN AND GOT IT A WEEK LATER AND KEEP IN MIND I WAS OUT OF A CAR AND I HAD TO WAIT FOR THEM TO PAY FOR A DAY OR TWO FOR THE RENTAL THEN WHEN I WENT PICK IT UP, IT STILL WAS NOT WORKING AND THEN I TOOK IT BACK TWICE AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE CONDENSER. SO I TOOK MY VEHICLE AND TOOK IT TO JUST A REGULAR DEALERSHIP B/C THE AMT TO FIX IT WAS 1100 DOLLARS THERE. HE PUT DYE IN IT AND EVERYTHING AND THREE WKS TO SIX WKS LATER I AM BACK WERE I STARTED B/C IT IS NOT THE CONDENSER. I JUST WANT A TO GET THE AC FIX TO WERE IT WILL WORK AND KEEP WORKING. THIS IS A EVERY SUMMER THING AND IT IS TO HOT IN THE SUMMER PEOPLE DIE. IT IS 107 DEGREES OUT AND I ALREADY AM PAYING DOUBLE FOR A VEHICLE WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO TAKE ANOTHER CAR PAYMENT. GASOLINE WAS FOUND IN THE COOLANT, AND THE RESULTING REPAIR BILL WAS $3025.00 I FEEL THAT THE OLDSMOBILE/GENERAL MOTORS COMPANY WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEFECT AND OUGHT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS SINCE IT BECAME KNOWN TO ME THAT THEY ALREADY HAD A REPAIR KIT , WHICH IMPLIED THAT THEY KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM BEFOREHAND.*AK UPDATED 10/15/07.

OVER $3,000 IN REPAIRS LATER, WE DISCOVED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

LASTLY, THE ENGINE HAS "MISFIRED" ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS NOW CAUSING THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT TO COME ON. NOW, THIS PROBLEM WAS "FIXED" AT THE PLACE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. A CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED. FOR 2 MONTHS THIS PROBLEM DIDN'T OCCUR. NOW IT OCCURS MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. *LA

APPARENTLY DUE TO THE REACTION BETWEEN THE STEEL HEAD BOLTS AND THE ALUMINUM MOTOR, THE THREADS CORRODED AND GAVE WAY ALLOWING THE HEAD GASKETS TO LEAK. SINCE THE CAR HAD 113,000 MILES ON IT, IT WAS PAST WARRANTY THOUGH I FEEL GM SHOULD HAVE PUT SOME TYPE OF COATING ON THE BOLTS TO KEEP THIS CORROSION FROM OCCURING. COST IN THIS CASE APPROACHED $4,000. *AK

METAL "SHIMS" THAT HOLD THERMOSTAT IN PLACE FAILED - CAUSING THERMOSTAT TO DISLODGE AND CREATE A RESTRICTION, HENCE CAUSING SUPERHEATED AIR BUBBLES TO FORM DIRECTLY UNDER THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR. THIS CAUSED A FALSE WARNING EMERGENCY ALERT ON THE DASH WHICH INFLUENCED ME TO PULL OVER ON BUSY INTERSTATE 95 WHERE I BECAME A ROAD HAZARD AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY A 18 WHEELER. TOOK THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALER, WHO FIXED IT. BUT IT CAME BACK 2 WEEKS LATER AND I HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED AGAIN. IT HAS SINCE NOT RETURNED. *AK

WE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND WERE TOLD THAT GM SAID THAT THE OPERATING TEMPERATURE WAS ANYWHERE IN THE WHITE ZONE. THIS PAST WEEKEND WE DROVE ABOUT 40 MILES FROM HOME AND TWICE THE CAR OVERHEATED. THE 3RD TRIP BACK TO THE DEALER HAPPENED ON A DAY THAT GM FIELD TECHS WERE IN THE DEALER SERVICE AREA. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, THESE TECHS WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE TEMPORARY SOLUTION WAS TO "SHIM" THE THERMOSTAT. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAYS THAT GM IS WORKING ON THE PROBLEM.
