I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE RECALLS FOR THE ABOVE VEHICLE AND WHAT EXACTLY THEY COVER AND DON'T COVER AND I GO ABOUT GETTING THEM FIXED. MY CAR IS NOW IN THE SHOP FOR FAILURE OF BRAKES. WHILE I WAS OUT DRIVING THE BRAKES SUDDENLY WENT ON ME
A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. UPON INVESTIGATION, I NOTICE THE RACK AND PINION WAS MOVING. WHEN I TRIED TO TIGHTEN THE BOLT IT SNAPPED WITH LITTLE TENSION. LOOKING AT THE BOLT YOU CAN SEE THE BOLT WAS SHEARING. THE BOLT IS APPROXIMATELY 10MM. IT HAD SHEARED TO ABOUT 2MM WHICH SNAPPED WHEN I TRIED TO TIGHTEN.*AK
I WAS MAKING A SLOW 90 DEGREE TURN TO THE RIGHT ONTO A DRIVEWAY WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY 12 " LOWER THAN THE ROAD I WAS ON. AS MY RIGHT WHEEL DROPPED OFF ONTO THE DRIVEWAY, WE HEARD A SHARP CRACKING NOISE. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WAS STIFF WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT. IT WAS THE NEXT DAY, SUNDAY, WHEN AS I TURNED TO THE RIGHT, WE LOST ALL OUR POWER STEERING FLUID WITH A GUSH AS THE POWER STEERING PUMP BLEW ITS FRONT MAINSEAL DUE TO OVERPRESSURING FROM THE BROKEN RACK AND PINION. THE RACK AND PINION MAINSHAFT WAS COMPLETELY SEVERED, IT ACTUALLY TORE OFF ITS WELDED BRACKET ON ONE SIDE AND THE HYDRAULIC CYLINDER WHICH WAS A COMPONENT OF THE SYSTEM, BOUND UP AND BLEW OUT BOTH SEALS. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THIS LEAD TO THE OVERPRESSURE OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WHICH RESULTED IN THE PUMP BLOWING ITS MAINSEAL. HE ALSO SAID HE FELT THAT THE DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM(IE. NOT HAVING BOTH SIDES OF THE RACK AND PINION IN HARD MOUNTS)WAS AT LEAST A PARTIAL CAUSE. ADDITIONALLY, THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE REBUILDER TO WHOM THIS WAS TO BE SENT HAD SEEN ABOUT 10 OTHERS LIKE THIS PREVIOUSLY. HAD ATOTAL COST OF REPAIR WAS ALMOST $1,000.00

WHILE TRAVELING AND WITHOUT INDICATION STEERING WHEEL FELL OUT INTO CONSUMER'S HANDS. DEALER/MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. CHRYSLER HAS PROVIDED NO HELP. *AK *ML
IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING THE VAN, PULLING AWAY FROM A PARKING PLACE, DRIVER FOUND THE VAN DIFFICULT TO STEER. WHEN CHECKING UNDER THE HOOD HUSBAND FOUND THE BELT TENSIONER BROKE. DEALERSHIP CONTACTED ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. *AK
STEERING COLUMN CAUSES PROBLEMS WITH STARTING OF VEHICLE. ALSO STEERING WHEEL COLUMN LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING. CAUSE UNKOWN.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE TENSIONER FELL OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND THE FAN BELT CRACKED, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO LOOSE POWER STEERING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. *AK CONSUMER STATED THE BELT TENSIONER FAILED 3 TIMES AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, CONSUMER STATED THE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE TENSIONER TO THE ENGINE BLOCK VRACKED.*JB
BILL BULL CHYSLER DODGE DEALER WILL NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THIS CONSUMER'S VEHICLE UNDER RECALL. PLEASE DESCIRBE DETAILS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD LOOKED AHEAD AT TRAFFIC, HAD STOPPED, APPLIED BRAKES BUT VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN, BUT DID NOT STOP. IT NEVER CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. BRAKES AND STEERING LOCKED AND CONSUMER HIT AUTO IN FRONT OF HER, CAUSING 3 PERSONS AND HERSELF TO BE INJURED AND TAKEN TO HOSPITAL. *AK
POOR STEERING RADIUS DUE TO DESIGN.
