THE DIFFERENCE IN CLIMATE CAUSED CAMSHAFT IN PLUG TO BLOW UT FROM REAR DRIVER SIDE CYLINDER HEAD. THIS CAUSED ALL OIL FROM MOTOR TO SPILL ONTO THE EXHAUST. CONSUMER'S INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED AND INSTALLED A ANTI BLOW OUT PLATE TO KEEP THE IN PLUG IN PLACE FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. PLESE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR MAINTENANCE CHECK FOUND THAT THERE IS A FUEL LEAK. WHICH COULD LEAD TO A FIRE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE YEARS BETWEEN 1996-2000. NLM DEALER REPLACED LEAKING FUEL RAIL AND INJECTOR O-RINGS AND FUEL PRESS./REGULATOR O-RINGS. ENGINE HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED WHEN PICKED UP DIES AT STOPS. HAS TO BE JUMP STARTED. *TT

CONSUMER EXPERIENCED TWICE OIL LEAKAGE FROM THE OIL PAN DUE TO DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF OIL PAN AND CONNECTION TO GASKET. DEFECT HAS CAUSED ENGINE TO BLOW TWICE.*AK
I AM SORRY THAT I DO NOT HAVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION NECESSARY. I NEVER KNEW HOW TO FILL OUT A COMPLAINT LIKE THIS BEFORE. A FEW YEARS AGO, MY CAR WOULD NOT START AND WHEN IT DID IT STALLED OUT. IT HAD AROUND 80,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. I TOOK IT IN TO BE SERVICED FREQUENTLY. THEN IT BEGAN TO SMOKE WHEN IT WAS DRIVEN. FINALLY, I SPOKE TO A DEALER CONCERNING THESE PROBLEMS AND HE SAID THAT I NEEDED TO BRING IT IN FOR AN OVERHAUL. I EXPLAINED THAT I WAS JUST CALLING FOR A PRICE, APPT FOR A TUNEUP AND HE SAID THAT IF I HAD THE PLYMOUTH VOYAGER AND I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE GOTTEN THAT FAR AND IT WAS STILL WORKING THEN IT NEEDED A MAJOR OVERHAUL. THEY ALL DID HE SAID. THAT'S WHEN I STARTED NOTICING THE OTHER MINIVANS ON THE ROAD. THE SLIGHTLY OLDER ONES. ALL OF THEM HAVE WHITISH GRAY SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAIL PIPE. ALL OF THEM EXCEPT FOR THE ONES THAT HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THEIR ENGINES AND/OR HAD MAJOR OVERHAULS INVOLVING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE VALVES. NOW MY CAR IS LEAKING OIL AND THE MECHANIC WON'T WORK ON IT ANYMORE EVEN A MINOR TUNEUP BECAUSE HE SAYS THAT THE ENGINE IS GOING TO BLOW UP. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE IT. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPAIR IT. I'VE BEEN DRIVING IT THE WAY IT IS BECAUSE I HAVE NO CHOICE. I HAVE MADE IT A POINT TO SPEAK TO OTHER VAN OWNERS THAT I HAVE SEEN ON THE ROAD. THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. NO MATTER HOW WELL OR HOW BADLY YOU MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE YOU HAVE THE SAME RESULT. I RECENTLY HEARD THAT MITSUBISHI HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED FOR SELLING DEFECTIVE AUTOMOBILES. THE PLYMOUTH VOYAGER HAS A MITSUBISHI ENGINE IN IT. I BELIEVE THE DODGE CARAVAN HAS THE SAME ENGINE AND THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS SYSTEM WORKS OR HOW LONG IT TAKES. BUT I DO KNOW THAT THESE ENGINES ARE PUTTING OUT INCREDIBLE AMOUNTS OF EXHAUST WHICH MUST VIOLATE SOME SORT OF REGULATION. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING OUTSIDE OF THE PARKING LOT. AS HE WAS BACKING OUT HE RAN OVER SOMETHING. HE SAW THE TENSIONER BELT HANGING DOWN. CONSUMER PULLED UP THE HOOD, AND THE TENSIONER BELT FELL OFF ONTO GROUND. *AK
THE CYLINDER HEAD/ROCKER ARM SHAFT OF MY ENGINE BROKE CAUSING ALMOST TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. I ALSO HAD A MAJOR FUEL LEAK ( A POTENTIAL ENGINE FIRE HAZARD) AND HAD TO HAVE MY FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY REPLACED.WHEN THE MECHANIC ORDERED THESE PARTS, THERE WERE 160 OF THE ENGINE HEADS AND EVEN MORE OF THE FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY ON BACK ORDER. THE NEW ENGINE HEAD CAME WITH A SPECIAL STUD IN THE SAME AREA WHERE THE OLD PART HAD BEEN BROKEN. MY INVOICE FROM THE REPAIR SHOP INDICATES THESE REPAIRS IN MORE DETAIL. I ALSO STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL PARTS. I CONTACTED CHRYSTLER FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR THESE REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD THAT DUE TO THE AGE AND MILAGE OF MY VEHICLE THEY WERE DENYING MY CLAIM. WHEN I ASKED THEM ABOUT THE UNUSUAL NUMBER OF BOTH OF THESE PARTS BEING ON BACK ORDER, IT DIDN'T SEEM TO BE A CONCERN TO THEM NOR DID THE LOOK INTO THE POSSIBILITY OF THESE ITEMS NEEDING TO BE RECALLS.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STARTED TO LOOSE POWER, SHUT OFF AND DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. DEALER FOUND THE CAMSHAFT IN THE ENGINE TO BE BROKEN IN HALF. THE VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED. *AK

ENGINE OVERHEATS, CAUSED ENGINE TO LOCKUP ON FREEWAY ON FOUR OCCASIONS.
