DEAR SIR/MADAM: SAFETY ISSUE: MY PLYMOUTH VAN CAUGHT FIRE SOMEWHERE IN THE LOWER DASHBOARD ON DRIVER SIDE. WE HAD JUST DRIVEN THE CAR AND PARKED IT, WHEN MINUTES LATER THE HORN SOUNDED AND WE SAY SMOKE AND FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED. THE CAR DOORS LOCKED THEMSELVES, ONE FRONT LIGHT WENT ON, REAR TAIL LIGHT WAS ON DURING FIRE. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS IN THE VAN. WHY DID THE FIRE START AND WHY DID THE VAN DOORS LOCK. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE SEND A REPLY AS TO WHAT YOU PLAN TO DO ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THANK YOU.

THIS PROBLEM HAS ALREADY HAD A RECALL ONCE. I HAD IT FIXED IN 01/2000 . THE SAME PROBLEM HAS COME BACK, TOOK IT DEALER IN TULSA OK. THEY SAW NO NEW RECALL'S . SO WHEN I TURN ON THE REAR WIPER IT BLOWS THE FUSE WHICH THE AIRBAG IS USING. EVERY TIME AND I AM USING THE RIGHT SIZE FUSE. *AK

ENGINE STALLS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WILL RESTART BUT WILL RUN ROUGH THE STALL AGAIN. AFTER SETTING FOR 3 TO 5 MINUTES THE ENGINE WILL RESTART AND IDOL CORRECTLY. WHEN THE TRANSMITION IS PUT INTO GEAR THE ENGINE WILL SPUTTER THEN STALL. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS MOVED TO LEVEL GROUND AND LEFT TO IDOL FOR 2 OR 3 MINUTES THE ENGINE WILL RUN FINE FOR AWHILE. THE PROBLEM OCCURS AT ANY ANY TIME THE ENGINE IS UNDER A LOAD WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD OR HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR AWHILE. IT HAPPENS CONSISTANTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND AFTER DRIVING 1 TO 3 HOURS. AT ONE TIME THE ENGINE STALLED WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT 65 MPH CREATING A TRAFFIC HAZZARD, MOST OF THE TIME THIS HAS OCCURED TRAFFIC HAS BEEN LIGHT.

AIRBAG/REAR WIPER FUSE - WE DROVE THE CAR FOR OVER A YEAR WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON. DEALER REFUSED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BUT ASSURED US THAT AIRBAG WAS FUNCTIONAL. HAD RECALL WORK PERFORMED BY DEALER ON 25 AUG 1999. FUSE BLEW AGAIN ON 3 SEP 1999. BRAKE PROBLEM - BRAKE WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON TWICE WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY. DEALER REFUSES TO ATTEMPT DIAGANOSIS, AS THEY "CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM."

THE DEALERS HAVE PUT IN TWO NEW FUEL PUMPS/TWO CRANKSHAFT SENSORS, A CAMSHAFT SENSOR/ MAP SENSOR, POWER CONTROL MODULE. ALSO TUNED UP PLUG WIRES AND SPARK PLUGS, AND CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY ON THE LAST VISIT IN WHICH THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THEIR POSSESSION FOR TWO WEEKS. DEALERSHIP-----LARRY H.
