2023 POLESTAR POLESTAR 2 Unknown Or Other Problems

After multiple software OTA updates due to previous NHTSA recalls, the rear backup camera consistently has issues to where the image of the rear of the vehicle cannot temporarily be displayed.

Rear camera does not work quite often and I get a message that the system the rear camera is unavailable. This is a safety hazard when reversing the vehicle. Polestar stated that the new software they released a few months back would fix this but it did not fix it at all (software version 3.6.4)

A recall was issued April 25 because the rear camera fails. It is supposed to be addressed by OTA software update. I have NOT received an update, and I've been unable to get an appt to have it installed by Service. It's been 4 months, and I'm told there are no appts for several more months. This seems very dangerous...

Safety cameras continue to not work. It was recalled recently and they sent an OTA software fix, but it only fixed the problem for a few days. The camera, especially rear camera, never goes on. It is always needed to stop and try again or start tapping the screen to make it reload. I've complained many times to Polestar about the problem but they keep failing to address it. It's a big safety hazard as you never know when it's gong to just cut off mid-driving. Some times the whole infotainment system will just not work for like 20 minutes. Its one glitch after another.

The vehicle stopped playing interior sounds, including indicator “clicks”; alerts like collision avoidance, parking collision warning, etc; as well as radio. A hard reset of the infotainment system was required to restore functionality. The issue continued through multiple times “turning the vehicle off” and starting again. Malfunctioning Component: Infotainment system. Available for inspection. Safety Risk: No advanced audio warning indicators that emergency action may be taken. Backup camera continues to fail. Upon starting the car and putting it in reverse, the camera will briefly show, freeze and then a message appears stating "Camera is temporarily unavailable." The camera will not turn back on. There was a recent software update to v 3.1.9 to try and alleviate this issue, but it still persists. This is dangerous when the camera flickers, freezes and then completely is lost. TCAS and infotainment systems have been reset. Same results.

Rearview Backup Camera is frequently unavailable when putting car in reverse. On 8/9/24 I brought the car to dealership for diagnosis. I was told that the camera system is performing as expected. This morning backing out of driveway, the camera was again unavailable.

The backup camera flickers and goes dark repeatedly while reversing the car. Super dangerous. This has been a continuing problem with this car since I purchased it and has gotten worse with the most recent software update.

My rear cameras are blacking out as I back up (I have video) or at times switching to an overview 360 visual. I have let the dealer know this, but its taken 3 weeks to get an appointment. They have switched out the IHU a couple of months ago but this problem is still occurring. Polestar is refusing (corporate) to speak with me about this.

The backup camera seemingly blinks just as you begin backing up and at random times as the vehicle is backing up causing vision to be lost

Backup camera often turns off and on 3 to 6 times when backing up after first starting the car. If can be off for 5 to 20 seconds when it flashes off and it all happens within a 2min window. It makes it very dangerous when backing up. This is not a new issue as I’ve had it for over a year and has been reported by others on forum websites for the car. It seem related to the infortainment system fully as the screen is shared with it.
