The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G5. The contact stated while driving the vehicle into the garage, there was an abnormal gasoline fumes odor. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed with rusted fuel lines from underneath the engine to the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.

2008 PONTIAC G5. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL NOTICE 12V-459 ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE ABOVE RECALL. HOWEVER, HE DID RECEIVE RECALL NOTICES 14V047000 AND 14V171000. AFTER SMELLING FAINT GASOLINE FUMES OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL MONTHS, THE CONSUMER BEGAN TO NOTICE A SMALL GASOLINE PUDDLE UNDER THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS PARKED. ON OCTOBER 21, 2015, HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A NON-GM DEALER REPAIR SHOP AND HAD THE DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. THE REPLACEMENT COST OF THE FUEL PUMP AND FILTER WAS $ 630.42. IT WAS THE REPAIR SHOP WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER ABOUT THE RECALL. GM INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THEY WOULD ONLY HONOR REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST UNDER THIS RECALL THAT WERE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN JUNE 30, 2014. *JB

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I TOOK IT TO FIND OUT WHY IT WAS ON AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE GAS CAP NOT BEING TIGHT ENOUGH. ABOUT 3 DAYS LATER, I FIND A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE UNDERNEATH MY CAR. IT WAS DRIPPING FROM THE TANK. THEN, I TOOK IT IN TO A NEARBY SHOP AND THEY CALLED ME THIS MORNING AND TOLD ME THAT THE SEAL ON MY GAS TANK IS BAD. SO, I'M HAVING TO PAY TO GET THE WHOLE GAS TANK REPLACED. I LOOKED UP RECALLS, AND I NOTICE THAT THEY HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 MODEL OF MY VEHICLE (ONE YEAR OLDER THAN MY CAR). *TR
