The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that the passenger’s side air bag service required message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 180,000.

After I got my car serviced for a recall on my transmission cables my dash started flashing passenger air bag and now my cars airbags do not work

My car will flash "POWER STEERING" across the stereo notification screen and alarm and the power steering locks up as you drive and makes steering your vehicle impossible and unsafe! This was a recall which was supposedly repaired at Titus Will (dealership) some years prior when the car was previously owned by Kristena Fulton but it is still very much a problem and a HUGE safety risk. I've contacted their location and was yelled at by a female who stated they had repaired it previously and would NOT help me regarding this. This vehicle is dangerous and poses not only a safety risk which could result in serious injury and death should it be driven on a freeway or highway at the time this error occurs. I've taken video of this and am asking for this to be repaired ASAP as I transport my two children and could result in injury to myself and my children.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND COULDN'T MOVE, I EVENTUALLY GOT IT TO A GAS STATION WHERE I PURCHASED SOME POWER STEERING FLUID BECAUSE THE LIGHT SHOWED UP UNDER THE TIME CLOCK ON THE RADIO; COME TO FIND OUT THERE WAS A SPOT TO PUT THE FLUID. IM STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING, IT EVEN CAUSED MY ALIGNMENT TO GO BAD AND MULTIPLE FLATS TIRES. WITH THE LAST FLAT TIRE, MY SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL, JUST RANDOMLY. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON TO BE ABLE TO SCREEN THE VEHICLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED ON THE POWER STEERING.

FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, THE INDICATOR LIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE HAVE BEEN RANDOMLY COMING ON FOR ONE TING OR ANOTHER. THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AS WELL AS THE ENGINE LIGHT. AT ONE POINT, THE GAS GAUGE INDICATES THAT THE TANK IN ABOUT EMPTY WHEN WE HAVE JUST FILLED THE TANK HALF OF THE WAY. BEING SENIOR CITIZENS, IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET A DIAGNOSIS ON THE CAR WITHOUT PAYING BEYOND YOUR BUDGET, OR GETTING THE REPAIRS DONE. ALSO THE POWER STEERING FREEZES UP WHILE DRIVING SOMETIMES.

BUT I MEVER GOT A RECALL PAPER IN THE MAIL AND WHEN I PUT MY VIN NUMBER IN, IT HAS NO RECALLS FOR THE AIRBAG. ITS ALARMING AND SCARY HEARING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUES. SECONDLY I GOT A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM GMC OR SOMETHING ABOUT A RECALL ON MY CAR. IT HAD TO DO WITH MY BREAK LIGHTS COMING ON AUTOMATICALLY WHILE I HAD MY CAR IN THE PARK POSITION. I WAS EXCITED TO FINALLY GET IT FIXED BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE GMC MECHANICS IN ALBANY OREGON THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. HOWEVER TILL THIS DAY I CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE. THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN ON AND STAY ON WHILE IM DRIVING. IVE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO WERE DRIVING BEHIND ME TELL ME THE SAME THING. THE BODY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. ALSO, WHILE TURNING THE WHEELS TO LEAVE A PARKING SPOT, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN AND TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL; HOWEVER, IT HAD BEEN COMPLETED. THEREFORE, THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT ASSIST. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.

THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT AREAS THAT I ASSUME ARE THE CAUSE OF MY CAR'S PROBLEMS. FIRST THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS HAS STAYED OFF, REGARDLESS OF PASSENGERS BEING PRESENT SINCE 2014, I BELIEVE. USING THE KEY DOES NOT CHANGE THE AIR BAG STATUS. ALSO THIS MAY BE PART OF THE ELECTRICAL AREA, BUT AT AROUND THE SAME TIME MY CRUISE CONTROL ALSO MALFUNCTIONED. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN I REALIZED BOTH THINGS. ALSO I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH TRACTION CONTROL COMING ON OUT OF NO WHERE, AND INSTEAD OF THE ENGINE SPEED BEING REDUCED, THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. SOMETIMES IT WILL LIKE RESET AFTER I PULL OVER AND WAIT FOR OVER 10 MINUTES, BUT IT WILL COME BACK ON REPEATEDLY. I HAVE TO PULL OVER WAIT RESTART, PULL OVER WAIT RESTART SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A USUAL 20 MINUTE DRIVE AT TIMES. ALSO I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR COMPRESSOR STAYING ENGAGED. MY CAR KIND OF BOGS DOWN WHEN THE COMPRESSOR DOES KICK IN, AND IT REPEATEDLY KICKS ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING ANY DISTANCE AT ALL. ALSO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER CONSTANTLY. THE MESSAGE CENTER ON THE RADIO CONSTANTLY SAYS THAT I HAVE LOW COOLANT, BUT THAT IS AN ERROR MESSAGE. IN THE SUSPENSION AREA MY WHOLE FRONT END(STRUTS, BALL BEARINGS, ETC) SEEM TO BE BAD. WHEN I DRIVE OVER A SMALL BUMP THE WHOLE CAR SHUTTERS AND PULLS WILDLY TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. IT FEELS LIKE MY TIRES HIT INTO THE RIM ITSELF OVER SPEED BUMPS WHEN I AM DRIVING MERELY 10 MILES PER HOUR.

THERE IS A VIBRATING COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEN AT SPEED THAT SHAKES THE STEERING WHEEL EVEN AFTER THE TIRES ARE BALANCED AND THE STRUTS AND TIE RODS WERE REPLACED. IF I GRAB THE STEERING WHEEL WITH BOTH HANDS, IT MOVES UP AND DOWN. WHEN PARALLEL PARKING, THE POWER STEERING FAILS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL WITHOUT HITTING THE GAS AND PUTTING THE CAR IN MOTION. I'VE NOTICED IN MY RESEARCH THAT OTHER G6 MODELS OF THIS YEAR AND SURROUNDING YEARS WERE RECALLED FOR ALL OF THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING. WHEN I ASKED THE PERSON AT CHEVY DEALER ABOUT IT, SHE TOLD ME I WAS OUT OF LUCK UNTIL THE VIN POPS UP IN THEIR SYSTEM. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPING SINCE MY WIFE GOT THE CAR IN 2007 APPARENTLY, AND SINCE WE JUST HAD A BABY, WE ARE LOOKING INTO IT MORE. I'VE BEEN WAITING ON THE RECALLS TO BE EXPANDED TO HER VIN, BUT NOTHING. IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO, OTHER THAN PAYING TO REBUILD THE WHOLE STEERING SYSTEM OF WHICH OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS WERE COVERED? THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

ON AUGUST 6, 2016 I WAS MERGING ONTO THE 33 EAST FROM THE CAYUGA ROAD ENTRANCE IN CHEEKTOWAGA, NY. AS I TRIED TO MERGE ONTO THE THRUWAY MY STEERING COMPLETELY WENT LOOSE AND LOST CONTROL. I COULDN'T GRAB HOLD OF THE WHEEL, AND MY CAR WENT COMPLETELY INSANE AND CROSSED THE 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC ON THE THRUWAY AND HIT THE GUARDRAIL, THEN BOUNCED OFF THE GUARDRAIL, CROSSING BACK THROUGH THOSE 3 LANES AND I ENDED UP IN A DITCH ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE GUARDRAIL.MY CAR IS COMPLETELY TOTALED, AND I WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL ER BY MY MOTHER & MY CAR WAS TOWED BY CHEEKTOWAGA POLICE TO MILLERS TOWING ON GENESEE STREET. THE ONLY THING THE HOSPITAL DIAGNOSED ME WITH WAS WHIPLASH. I HAVE NO IDEA OR EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED MY STEERING WHEEL AND WHOLE CAR TO LOSE CONTROL LIKE THAT. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS AND FILED A CLAIM WITH THEM. GENERAL MOTORS SENT OUT AN INVESTIGATOR TO COME CHECK OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR. THE INVESTIGATOR ONLY PLUGGED MY CAR INTO HIS COMPUTER, AFTER UNPLUGGING THE BATTERY (WHICH WAS NOT NECESSARY TO DO AT ALL). AFTER HE INVESTIGATED IT, GENERAL MOTORS CALLED ME AND SAID MY CLAIM WAS DENIED. I FEEL THAT MY CAR WAS IMPROPERLY INSPECTED, IT SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST BEEN PUT UP ON A LIFT TO HAVE THE STEERING RACK LOOKED AT, SEEING AS THAT'S WHERE THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. I HAVE 3 WITNESSES THAT STOPPED ALONGSIDE OF THE ROAD WITH ME AND SAID IT WAS LIKE MY CAR WAS "POSSESSED." THE CAR HAD A STEERING RECALL THAT I GOT FIXED AT A GENERAL MOTORS FACILITY IN NOVEMBER OF 2015, 4 MONTHS AFTER I HAD BOUGHT THE CAR. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE COMPENSATED BY GM FOR MY LOSSES. I DID NOTHING WRONG TO MAKE THE CAR ACT LIKE THAT OR LOOSE CONTROL, THEY HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR ME AS TO WHAT HAPPENED TO MAKE THE CAR DO THAT.

THEY SAID I HAD TO PAY SINCE THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. A FEW MONTHS LATER AND HERE I AM AGAIN WITH THE AIRBAG REPORTING PROBLEMS AS WORKING AND NOT WORKING. ALSO NOW MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STAYING ON AS I AM DRIVING AND TURNING OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN I TAP THE BRAKE. AS I AM STOPPED THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT TURNING ON UNLESS I FORCEFULLY HOLD THE PEDAL DOWN. I KNOW WHEN I TAKE IT INTO THE DEALER THAT IT IS GOING TO BE THE SAME THING, LOTS OF MONEY FOR A TEMPORARY FIX THAT ALL EXTEND FROM THE "FIXED" RECALL. I ALSO HAD A NEW BRAKE CONTROL SENSOR PUT IN, BUT IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. THIS IS CAUSING A DANGEROUS CONDITION AND SINCE IT IS MY CAR, I DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM SUPPOSE TO DO HERE. THE RECALL REPAIR IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM, OTHER THAN TEMPORARILY, AND THIS IS PUTTING MY LIFE AND OTHERS AT RISK.

SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARS INTERMITTENTLY. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 2 WEEKS AGO. IT ONLY HAS 46,000 MILES AND ALL WAS WELL FOR ABOUT A WEEK. I WAS GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE AND THE DRIVER SIDE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I STOPPED AT THE OFF RAMP AND PROCEEDED DOWN A 30 MPH STREET. STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND TURNED OFF. THIS TIME I WAS NOT STOPPING BUT CONTINUOUSLY DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH. MY CONCERN IS THE SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE THAT LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED, THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL AND WHILE LOOKING ONLINE, THERE ARE QUITE A FEW PEOPLE THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE. I'VE BEEN READING OTHER COMPLAINTS AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SENSOR IN THE SEAT IS AT FAULT. I CHECKED TO SEE IF MY VEHICLE HAD ANY OPEN RECALLS AND THERE WERE NONE.

NEVER WORKED NORMAL SINCE IT WAS REPLACED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, HIGHWAY, TURNING AND WHEN SITTING STILL. I ALSO SELECTED ELECTRICAL BECAUSE OF THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR G6'S THAT HAD CLOTH SEATS THAT WERE CHANGED TO LEATHER SEATS. MY CAR HAS LEATHER SEATS, HOWEVER IT IS NOT INCLUDED UNDER THIS RECALL. THE REPAIR SHOP INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM. THE WIRING FOR THE SENSORS WAS NEVER PROPERLY DONE. THERE WAS NO SPACE TO PUT CERTAIN WIRES AND THEY WERE NEVER CONNECTED. THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS NEVER PROPERLY CONNECTED!

SEVERAL TIMES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE BY TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION THE VEHICLE GOES THROUGH THE PROCESS BUT DOESN'T START. IT WILL MAKE A "WINDING" NOISE. IT WILL TAKE 2-3 ATTEMPTS TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED. THIS HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 30-40 TIMES SINCE 2009. DURING THIS SAME PERIOD WHILE DRIVING THE BEEP ALARM INSIDE THE CAR BEGINS GOING OFF CAUSE IT READS THAT SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT WITHOUT A SEAT BELT. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THE SEAT WAS EMPTY. IN ADDITION, WHEN A PERSON HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND VACATES THE SEAT THE SEAT OR SENSOR STILL REGISTERS A PERSON THERE WITHOUT A SEAT BELT. DURING THE SAME TIME PERIOD I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE ABOUT 6-8 TIMES. I HAD THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE MAKER LIGHT REPLACED AND IT WAS NOTICED THAT IT WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE BACK BRAKE LIGHTS 6-8 TIMES. LASTLY, THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEGUN STALLING BOTH AT INITIAL ACCELERATION AND WHEN DRIVING ABOVE 35MPH THE VEHICLES SUDDENLY LOSES ITS GEAR AND BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN IN TRAFFIC. "SERVICE AIRBAG" WARNING LIGHT STARTED TURNING ON INTERMITTENTLY DURING SUMMER 2013. IT WOULD TURN ON FOR A MINUTE OR SO, THEN TURN OFF FOR SEVERAL DAYS/WEEKS/MONTH. CALLED SERVICE ADVISOR AT DEALER WHO STATED THAT IF IT DIDN'T STAY ON, IT WASN'T AN ISSUE TO ADDRESS. AFTER A FEW MONTHS, IN APPROXIMATELY FEBRUARY 2014, THE SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON ALMOST 90% OF THE TIME. TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO SAID THAT THE SENSOR WEARS DOWN AFTER A WHILE, AND THAT EVEN IF WE DO REPLACE IT, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WON'T COME ON AGAIN. I EXPRESSED THAT I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED, BUT THE ADVISOR & MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY WILL DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED, BUT THAT THE LARGEST OF THE 3 LEVELS OF FRONT AIRBAGS MAY DEPLOY RATHER THAN ONE OF THE TWO SMALLER AIRBAGS, AND THAT THE WEIGHT OF THE PERSON IN THE FRONT SEAT MAY TRIGGER THE LARGEST AIRBAG EVEN IF THEY ARE UNDERWEIGHT. AS MUCH AS I WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED, I HAVE NO FAITH THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN. I SUSPECT, AS OTHERS HAVE STATED, THAT THE AIRBAGS SIMPLY WILL NOT DEPLOY. THIS WOULD BE AN ODD OCCURRENCE CONSIDERING THAT WE BOUGHT THIS PARTICULAR CAR (NOT JUST THIS MODEL, BUT THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE) BECAUSE IT HAS THE ADDITIONAL SIDE AIRBAGS. THE DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM BEGAN INDICATING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SYSTEM. I HAD ASKED THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER TO INVESTIGATE THIS PREVIOUSLY WHEN THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR OTHER MAINTENANCE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT APPEARED TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR'S COMPUTER AND THAT IF I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE MESSAGE CLEARED, IT WAS OKAY. THE TECH EXPLAINED THAT THE CAR'S COMPUTER RUNS A CHECK EVERY TIME THE CAR STARTS AND THAT SOMETHING WAS A LITTLE BUGGY BUT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. IN AUGUST 2011, THE MESSAGE BEGAN APPEARING CONSTANTLY SO I BROUGHT IT BACK IN. SUDDENLY THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SINCE THIS INVOLVED TAKING OUT THE SEAT TO DO THE REPAIR, IT WOULD BE COSTLY. I ASKED IF THE CAR COULD BE DRIVEN SAFELY WITH NO ONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SINCE USUALLY I AM THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN. THE TECH EXPLAINED THAT IF THE CAR DETECTS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM (EVEN IF NO ONE IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT) IT WILL SHUT OFF THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM, SO THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WOULD ALSO BE TURNED OFF. I PAID APPROXIMATELY $1000 TO HAVE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER, WHEN THE POWER STEERING IN THE CAR BEGAN TO FAIL, I STARTED INVESTIGATING RECALLS AND FOUND THAT GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR FAILURE SINCE 2006 (WHICH IS THE MODEL YEAR OF MY CAR). I'M NOT SURE HOW I WAS SOLD A CAR WITH A KNOWN POSSIBLE DEFECT, HOW I WAS NOT NOTIFIED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT, OR WHY I WAS THE ONE WHO PAID FOR THE REPAIR, BUT I'M QUITE UPSET ABOUT IT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE AND THEY WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF. WHEN DRIVING WITHOUT THE BRAKES DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE CONNECTOR HAD CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000.

THIS IS COMPLAINT IS REGARDS TO MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 THAT WAS PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2007. ON NOVEMBER 11, 2009 WHEN I CRANKED THE VEHICLE A SERVICE AIRBAGS LIGHT CAME ON IN THE MESSAGE PANEL. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND MADE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR NOVEMBER 25, 2009. I FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL #06V417000, FOR THE 2006 G6 FOR AIRBAG FAILURE. I CONTACTED GM AND ADVISED OF THE AIRBAG PROBLEM. UPON CONTACT WITH GM, I WAS ASSIGNED A CASE# 71-775-755-730. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN THAT THIS COULD BE A SAFETY DEFECT THAT COULD MEAN THE AIRBAG COULD MALFUNCTION DURING AN ACCIDENT. GM ADVISED ME TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP. I ADVISED GM OF THE SCHEDULED SERVICE APPOINTMENT. AFTER THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT, THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY WOULD BE IN TOUCH WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER OF GM AND GIVE ME A CALL BACK. LATER THAT DAY I RECEIVED A CALL GM, ADVISING THAT MY CAR WOULD BE REPAIRED DUE TO SOME SPECIAL WARRANTY AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD BE IN CONTACT WITH ME AFTER THE HOLIDAY. AFTER NOT RECEIVING A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN A COUPLE OF DAYS, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT GM WOULD NOT REPAIR MY CAR BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I WAS THE SECOND OWNER. I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM MY CREDIT UNION AND THAT IT HAD 35,800 MILES ON IT, WHICH WAS UNDER 36,000 MILES. ALTHOUGH, THERE ARE 70,000 MILES ON THE CAR, IF THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S SAFETY DEFECT IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED REGARDLESS OF THE MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. GM ASSIGNED THE CASE TO THE DISTRICT. I MADE NUMEROUS CALLS AND FINALLY RECEIVED A CALL BACK LAST WEEK. I WAS TOLD THAT GM WAS NOT GOING TO REPAIR MY CAR. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS AGAIN ABOUT THE MANUFACTURER'S SAFETY DEFECT. I WAS INVOLVED IN A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT ON 12/2/09. CAR HYDROPLANED ON WATER, SPUN SEVERAL TIMES, WENT AIRBORNE AT APPX. 45-50MPH AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP IN A GROUP OF TREES - THE TREES BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A HALT UPON IMPACT. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED!!! MY SEATBELT LEFT ME WITH A BURN ABRASION ON MY SKIN, BUT THE MAIN QUESTION BEING ASKED BY ME (THE OWNER), THE EMT'S AND FIRE DEPT PERSONNEL ON SCENE AND THE STATE TROOPER IS WHY DIDN'T THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY?? THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM AUCTION IN APRIL OF 2006. I HAVE HAD THE CAR THREE YEARS NOW. FROM THE TIME THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT STARTING. IT WILL TURN OVER BUT DIES IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT STARTS. IT USUALLY TAKE THREE TRIES BEFORE IT WILL START. TODAY I GOT IN MY CAR AND TURNED THE KEY NOTHING WOULD COME ON, NO LIGHTS NO RADIO NO NOISE NOTHING. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY. I TRIED IT THREE TIMES AND THEN ON THE FOURTH TIME IT STARTED LIKE NORMAL. I CHECKED THE BATTERY AND IT IS FINE. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THREE TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE BUT BECAUSE IT WOULD NO DO IT AT THAT TIME THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT, THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST DID NOT SHOW ANYTHING. THE SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING ALSO KEEPS DINGING. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN AND THEY RESET IT AND SAID IT WAS OK, NOW IT KEEPS DOING THE SAME THING BUT IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY TO HAVE IT SERVICED. I HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE POWERSTEERING ALSO. THERE ARE TIMES IT WILL BE EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN AND THEN IN A FEW SECONDS IT IS EXTREMELY EASY AND NOW IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED TWO MONTHS AGO AND ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER THEY WERE REPLACED THEY HAVE STARTED MAKING A REALLY LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE AND SOMETIMES A GRINDING NOISE. I AM WRITING TO NOTIFY YOU OF SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS REGARDING MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 GT . I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM LOU SOHB PONTIAC GMC IN CONYERS, GA ON NOVEMBER 6, 2006. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS LATER, I BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE POWER STEERING. THERE WERE INSTANCES WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD THAT THE CAR WOULD MOMENTARILY LOSE THE POWER STEERING CAPABILITY AND THEREIN MAKES THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO TURN. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON JUNE 28, 2007. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE THE VEHICLE?S STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND LOSS POWER STEERING AND IT RESULTED IN ME BEING STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND IT SEEMED AS I SIMPLY VIEWED IT AS ONE OF THOSE UNEXPLAINABLE INSTANCES. ON DECEMBER 25, 2007, CHRISTMAS DAY THE VEHICLE AGAIN HAD A MOMENTARY LOSS OF POWER STEERING AS I WAS TURNING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS AND THE STAFF LOOKED AT ME AS IF I WERE ?CRAZY? TRYING TO EXPLAIN THAT IT JUST HAPPENS UNEXPLAINABLE AND THEN WORKS FINE AGAIN. THE STAFF AT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT LEAVE ME ASSURED THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I CONTACTED A PRIVATE MECHANIC BY THE NAME OF LARRY REAVES, JR. WHO INSPECTED THE CAR ON JANUARY 12, 2008 AND AGAIN TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE POWER STEERING. AT THIS POINT, THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN CHECKED BY BOTH GM CERTIFIED MECHANICS AND A PRIVATE MECHANIC AT COST TO ME. BOTH TIMES I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG THAT WOULD MAKE IT MALFUNCTION AS SUCH. STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY LOOSE, BRAKES PEDALS WERE VERY EASILY DEPRESSED, NONE OF THE FRONT AIR-BAGS DEPLOYED AND CAR SEATS DID NOT LOCK. MR. HIT MEDIAN CONCRETE AT 60 MPH. AMBULANCE AND EMERGENCY ROOM DICTATED, "YOU ALL VERY LUCKY TO HAVE SURVIVED." 3RD PARTY ADMINISTRATOR(ESIS) COUNTER CLAIMS MR.. THAT BECAUSE MR. COLLIDED WITH MEDIAN SIDEWAYS THE AIR-BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MR. ARGUES THAT FRONT DRIVER PORTION OF CAR HIT MEDIAN FIRST, AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND SEAT BELTS SHOULD HAVE LOCKED. 3RD PARTY ADMINISTRATOR COUNTERS. BECAUSE THERE IS NO PROOF WE CANNOT CLAIM SUCH FACT. SHE (3RD PARTY) IS INSISTING ON US TO SIGN MEDICAL RELEASE FORMS AND SUBMIT PICTURES OF CAR. MR. HAS ADVISED THAT CAR IS REPAIRED AND HAS BEEN SOLD. CONFUSION ARISES WHEN DEALER AGREES THAT CAR HAS SENSORS AND COLLISION SHOP DID NOT INDICATE ANY SENSORS. MR. IS CONFUSED WHETHER STABILI-TRAK OR SOME OTHER SYSTEMS SHOULD BE IN PLACE TO HAVE PREVENTED THE COLLISION WITH MEDIAN AND UNDER THE TIRE SENSORS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN PLACE. IF ANY SYSTEM (STABILI-TRAK OR OTHER) WERE IN PLACE, THE WHOLE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. I'VE ALWAYS LOOKED FOR RECALLS ON ALL MY PREVIOUS CARS AND I DID IT FOR THE 06' PONTIAC G6 THAT I AM CURRENTLY PAYING FOR....SO...FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE AIRBAGS AND THAT GM WAS EVEN TRYING TO REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE......WELL.....I CALLED PONTIAC CUSTOMER CARE AND GAVE MY VIN NUMBER FOR THEM TO SEARCH FOR ANY RECALLS AND THE REP SAID THAT HE COULDN'T SEE ANY RECALLS FOR THAT CAR BUT THAT MY CALL WOULD BE FILED IF ANYTHING RISES UP LATER ON....WELL.....HE DIDN'T EVEN OFFER TO HAVE MY CAR INSPECTED AT ANY DEALERSHIP EVEN AFTER I TOLD THEM THAT THE COMPLAINT WAS POSTED IN THE GOVERNMENT SITE (NHTSA) AND SEVERAL OTHER SITES ALL OVER THE INTERNET....OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE DENYING IT..... I WON'T BUY AMERICAN CARS EVER AGAIN. ....SO AFTER HANGING UP WITH GM WENT OUT TO BUY AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEAT FOR MY FRONT SEATS...BECAUSE THAT SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM....THE SENSOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY WITH THEM ON.....AND IT DID......SAT DOWN ON PASSENGER SEAT AND AIRBAG LIGHT SAT ERRATICALLY SWITCHING UP AS I MOVED ON THE SEAT.....SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AIR BAG/SEAT BELT SENSOR CONTROL MODULE IS MALFUNCTIONING. SHE STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS ACTIVATED WHETHER OR NOT SOMEONE WAS IN THE SEAT OR NOT. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, THE MALFUNCTION RECURRED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT 44,400. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN MORE CONSISTENTLY. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE MODULE ON THE SIDE AIR BAG INFLATER. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WAS INOPERATIVE. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE FAILED COMPONENT. SHE ALSO FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. HIS WIFE TESTED TWO DIFFERENT 2008 VEHICLES AND THE AIR BAGS WORKED PROPERLY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,507 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

FIRST LEAK WAS THE XM ANTENNA. WATER CAME IN THROUGH ROOF CENTER CONSOLE LIGHTS. SECOND LEAK WAS FROM THE SUNROOF WATER ENTERED THE CABIN THROUGH THE SAME PLACE. DEALER REPAIRED SUNROOF DRAIN TUBE. THIRD LEAK WAS THE SUNROOF DRAIN TUBE. DEALER REPAIRED THE OTHER SUNROOF DRAIN TUBE. THE WATER ENTER THE CABIN AND RAN ON THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT. THIS HAPPENED IN THE WINTER AND THE SEAT BELT FROZE SOLID IN THE RETRACTION REEL. AT THE SAME TIME THE WATER ALSO DAMAGED THE AIRBAG SENSORS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND CAUSED THE AN AIRBAG FAILURE. THE FORTH LEAK SOAKED BOTH SEAT BELTS. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP EXTENDED THE SUNROOF DRAIN TUBES PER A SERVICE BULLETIN. NOW THERE ARE INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. THE HEADS LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN ON UNTIL THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF THEN RESTARTED. THE TURN SIGNALS, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS, AND HEATER CONTROL LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK HEAD ON IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THE LEFT FRONTAL AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT THE FRONT SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT AND PHOTOS WERE TAKEN AND SEATBELTS WERE WORN. BOTH VEHICLES WERE TOTALED AND BOTH DRIVERS WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE INJURIES TO THE CONTACT INCLUDED A SMALL TEAR TO A TENDON IN THE LEFT SHOULDER AND A CONCUSSION WHICH CAUSED POST CONCUSSION SYNDROME. NO INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE ON THE OTHER DRIVER. THE ROADS WERE DRY AND CLEAR. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED.

MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE. TRAFFIC HAD SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 25 MPH AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND DID NOT NOTICE AND STRUCK MY VEHICLE AT ABOUT 60 MPH. THIS FORCE PUSHED MY VEHICLE INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT. THE DRIVER WAS WEARING THEIR SEAT BELT AND SHOULDER STRAP AT THE TIME. DURING THIS INCIDENT, THE STEERING WHEEL ALONG WITH THE MAIN SHAFT CAME FREE OF THE COLUMN AND WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S LAP WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE WIRING HARNESS WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE STEERING WHEEL. MY MAIN CONCERN WAS THAT, WITH THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE DRIVER'S LAP WITH THE SHAFT STICKING STRAIGHT UP, THE DRIVER COULD HAVE BEEN IMPALED WITH THE SHAFT THROUGH THEIR JAW AND UP THROUGH THEIR SKULL IF THE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED AT THAT TIME. I DO HAVE A DIGITAL PICTURE OF THE STEERING WHEEL PLACED LOOSELY BACK INTO THE COLUMN IF YOU NEED TO SEE IT. *JB

MY CAR EVERY TIME I TURNED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT MY TIRES WOULD MAKE A SQUEALING SOUND, SO MY HUSBAND THOUGHT I NEEDED MY TIRES ROTATED, I TOOK IT DOWN TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND TO GET THE TIRES ROTATED BUT HE (SALES PERSON) TOLD ME THAT MY TIRES WERE FINE. WELL I WAS GOING TO WORK AT 6:00 A.M MY CAR STARTED PULLING TO THE RIGHT SO I WENT OFF THE ROAD AND TRIED TO GET MY CAR BACK ON THE ROAD BUT MY TIRES LOCKED UP OR SOMETHING B/C MY CAR STARTED TO SPIN IN CIRCLES, I TRIED TO GET CONTROL OF MY CAR BUT BEFORE I KNEW I HIT A TREE. WHAT SCARED ME THE MOST WAS THAT MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOYED, I HAD FRONTAL AND SIDE DAMAGE. I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG OR WHAT BUT I'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE GETTING ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE GAP INSURANCE. I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT IF MY SALES PERSON WOULD HAVE MENTIONED IT TO ME. NOW I HAVE TO PAY 3000.00 TO PAY THE REST OF A CAR THAT IS NOT DRIVABLE BEFORE I CAN GET ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT WAS A SCARY SITUATION I DON'T WANT PITY I JUST WANTED TO LET OTHER DRIVERS KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. *JB
