The electronic stability control has failed, due to sway bar links are worn out and causing wheels to vigorously wobble causing the Eps input circuit to shut down the system to avoid overloading the circuit and burning up the module , I believe the recall hasn't been fixed , Can you please consider the issue as dangerous and repair my car ... I am not trying to say this but I am homeless and dependent on the car for shelter as well as transportation... Please note don't use last statement to show sympathy on me ... I have had to get 3 new keys made for this car due to the security light coming on, sometimes it will not crank or start, so I have replaced the starter twice, have replaced relays and fuses, and the security light will come on while drive down the road and all gauges drop to zero, even the gas light says empty and every light on the dash comes on. But the car will still drive. But once you turn it off it will not start for a few hours! It’s impossible to find parts for Pontiac anymore so everything has to be ordered! This should’ve been recalled a long time ago!

The electric power steering went out while driving. I could not steer the car. Very dangeres in traffic. The Torque Sensor failed which controls the power steering. There is a recall on the issue (#14772) but my Vin is not listed.

Power steering warning on radio, never once did a warning light on dash come up. This started at about 193,000 miles. Turning over car constantly to get my power steering to start. About a month after it just went out while driving approximately 40 mph. Kept pulling over to restart car, never turned back on. Potential wreck trying to turn to get into work parking lot when the car wouldn’t turn. Dealerships claim my car was fixed already years ago, however this problem with the steering started again apparently at about 193,000 miles. The steering wheel started jerking and shaking when the car was idle around the same time the power steering message came across the radio. The car would also randomly lock my horn, didn’t realize it could do that until I couldn’t honk when someone was merging into me.

My car stopped working all of a sudden in the middle of the road. no warning signs were made nor any of my lights came on. it’s rough running and never stays on long to drive. when i brake it completely shuts off. it overheats without the temperature gauge telling me it is. i don’t know exactly what is wrong but it’s not working now. i couldn’t go over 35 mph without it shutting off either.

MY KEYS GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND ITS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE YOU CAN'T LEAVE YOUR KEYS IN THE IGNITION, OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE TO LOCK YOUR DOOR SO NO ONE WILL STEAL YOUR CAR WHILE YOUR SLEEPING. AND THE MOST DANGEROUS PART OR WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MY CAR IS, WHEN DRIVING THE BRAKE MEDAL IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MASH WHILE DRIVING EVEN WITH TWO FEET. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL FAILURES THAT RANDOMLY PROGRESSED UPON PURCHASING THE VEHICLE FROM A PRIVATE SELLER. DUE TO THE VARIOUS FAILURES, THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO PASS STATE INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FOUR DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS, BUT A PERMANENT REMEDY COULD NOT BE PROVIDED TO PREVENT THE FAILURES. THE VARIOUS MECHANICS REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, SPARK PLUGS, AIR FLOW SENSOR, AND BATTERY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, AND FAILED TO START AND RESTART ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND IT DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER COMPUTER AND THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE GEAR WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND ISSUED A "SPECIAL REPAIR NOTICE TO THE VEHICLE OWNERS". THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.

CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS ON THIS AND TOLD NO OPEN RECALL; TOLD THAT IT WAS ALREADY ADDRESSED BY SERVICE AT DEVAN CHEVROLET, WILTON CT ON AUG 13, 2015. I DO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAD THE CAR AT THAT DEALER / SERVICE CENTER ON THAT DATE FOR ANOTHER MATTER- I HAD NO ISSUES OR SYMPTOMS WITH ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL WHILE ITS POSSIBLE THAT DURING THAT VISIT THEY ACTIONED THE REMEDY DETAILED IN THE RECALL, HOWEVER, AS THERE WAS NO NOTED ISSUE AT THAT TIME, I AM NOT SURE THEY DID ANYTHING THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE. DRIVING ON WAY HOME FROM WORK, WHOLE TRIP NOTHING OVER 45 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. ITS THE LIGHT WITH TC AND A SLASH TROUGH IT. THE LIGHT TURNS OFF WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL BUT COMES ON WHEN SHIFTER IS IN REVERSE OR DRIVE. AFTER THE LIGHT CAME ON I NOTICED EXTREMELY SLUGGISH ENGINE PERFORMANCE, EXTREMELY HARD SHIFTING ALL THE WAY THROUGH 4TH GEAR WITH BAD SLAMS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINS OF DRIVING WITH THE LIGHT STILL ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND I CAN BARELY GET GOING FROM A STOP LIGHT. I PARKED IT FOR THE NIGHT TO WORK ON IT THE NEXT DAY, AND TO MY SURPRISE THE NEXT MORNING THE TC OFF LIGHT WAS GONE AND AFTER ABOUT 10 MINS OF DRIVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OUT AND THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE NORMAL. THE NEXT DAY IT ALL HAPPENED OVER AGAIN WITH ALL THE SAME ISSUES AND THEN THE WARNING LIGHTS WENT OUT AGAIN AND THE CAR RAN FINE. THEN FOR A THIRD DAY IT ALL HAPPENED AGAIN AND NOW THE ENGINE SEEMS TO HAVE NO POWER, I MIGHT AS WELL BE PUSHING THE CAR DOWN THE STREET. THIS HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY DRIVES ON A NORMAL NO WET WEATHER DAY. THE DEALERSHIP AND A PRIVATE GARAGE TRIED READING THE CODES THROUGH THE CONNECTOR UNDER MY STEARING WHEEL AND NO BODIES READER CAN CONNECT TO THE ECU. I CHECKED ALL THE FUSES AND RELAYS AND NONE ARE BLOWN OR DAMAGED. I KNOW THE G6 HAD RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE A FEW YEARS AGO AND MY CAR WASN'T INCLUDED IN THIS BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME ISSUE. I CAN GET UNDER THE CAR AND LOOK FOR ANY MELTED WIRES OR GROUND FAULTS BUT I WOULDNT KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN. LOOKING ONLINE THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE. TC OFF LIGHT COMING ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON WITH AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR OR NO SOLUTION AVAILABLE. THIS IS CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO HAVE LITTLE TO NO ACCELERATION AND REALLY SPOTTY SHIFTING. THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT AREAS THAT I ASSUME ARE THE CAUSE OF MY CAR'S PROBLEMS. FIRST THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS HAS STAYED OFF, REGARDLESS OF PASSENGERS BEING PRESENT SINCE 2014, I BELIEVE. USING THE KEY DOES NOT CHANGE THE AIR BAG STATUS. ALSO THIS MAY BE PART OF THE ELECTRICAL AREA, BUT AT AROUND THE SAME TIME MY CRUISE CONTROL ALSO MALFUNCTIONED. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN I REALIZED BOTH THINGS. ALSO I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH TRACTION CONTROL COMING ON OUT OF NO WHERE, AND INSTEAD OF THE ENGINE SPEED BEING REDUCED, THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. SOMETIMES IT WILL LIKE RESET AFTER I PULL OVER AND WAIT FOR OVER 10 MINUTES, BUT IT WILL COME BACK ON REPEATEDLY. I HAVE TO PULL OVER WAIT RESTART, PULL OVER WAIT RESTART SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A USUAL 20 MINUTE DRIVE AT TIMES. ALSO I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR COMPRESSOR STAYING ENGAGED. MY CAR KIND OF BOGS DOWN WHEN THE COMPRESSOR DOES KICK IN, AND IT REPEATEDLY KICKS ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING ANY DISTANCE AT ALL. ALSO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER CONSTANTLY. THE MESSAGE CENTER ON THE RADIO CONSTANTLY SAYS THAT I HAVE LOW COOLANT, BUT THAT IS AN ERROR MESSAGE. IN THE SUSPENSION AREA MY WHOLE FRONT END(STRUTS, BALL BEARINGS, ETC) SEEM TO BE BAD. WHEN I DRIVE OVER A SMALL BUMP THE WHOLE CAR SHUTTERS AND PULLS WILDLY TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. IT FEELS LIKE MY TIRES HIT INTO THE RIM ITSELF OVER SPEED BUMPS WHEN I AM DRIVING MERELY 10 MILES PER HOUR.

I RECEIVED A LETTER IN MARCH OF 2017 ADVISING ME OF A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH A BCM COULD CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS OF MY VEHICLE. THE LETTER STATES THAT I SHOULD NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS UNLESS I WAS CERTAIN THE PROBLEM EXISTED. THE LETTER WENT ON TO EXPLAIN THAT GM WOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE TO COVER THE NEEDED REPAIRS IF THE PROBLEM WERE TO SHOW AS LONG AS IT WAS LESS THAN 15 YEARS, OR 150,000 MILES FROM THE DATE THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PUT IN TO SERVICE. THE THING THAT INSULTS ME IS THAT I HAD THE VEHICLE IN A DEALER SHOP A COUPLE OF MONTHS PRIOR TO GETTING THIS LETTER TO HAVE A POWER STEERING PROBLEM DIAGNOSED. ANYTIME A VEHICLE IS TAKEN TO A DEALER THE MILEAGE IS RECORDED AND THEREFORE GM KNEW, OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BEFORE SENDING THE LETTER THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ALREADY BEYOND THE MILEAGE THEY WERE ALLOWING IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. IF THIS WAS SUCH A PROBLEM I WOULD THING GM SHOULD COVER IT NO MATTER THE AMOUNT OF TIME ON THE ROAD OR THE NUMBER OF MILES. ATTACHED ARE BOTH THE DEALER SHOP TICKET SHOWING THE VIN, DATE AND MILEAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED FOR A STEERING ISSUE, AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY LETTER LIMITING THE MILEAGE TO LESS THAN WHAT GM SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WAS ON THE VEHICLE WHEN THE LETTER WAS MAILED.

ON APPROXIMATELY 13 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST 2 MONTHS (WHILE ON A CITY STREET AT 25MPH, AND WHILE ON A STATE HIGHWAY WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 65MPH) ALL INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES GO CRAZY AND SUDDENLY DROPPED TO ZERO. 'POWER STEERING' MESSAGE AND 'LOW FUEL' LIGHT (HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS) WAS SHOWN ON THE RADIO MESSAGE CENTER, ALONG WITH WARNING SOUNDS, AND 'ERROR' WAS DISPLAYED IN THE ODOMETER WINDOW. GAUGES CONTINUED FLUCTUATING REPEATEDLY FROM NORMAL AND/OR CORRECT RANGES, TO ZERO, AND CONTINUED SOUNDING/SHOWING WARNING SOUNDS AND ERROR MESSAGES FOR APPROX 5-6 MINUTES. THEN ALL GAUGES DROPPED TO ZERO AND STAYED THERE, CAR ENGINE WAS CUTTING IN AND OUT AND RADIO STOPPED WORKING. PULLED OFF THE ROAD, DID NOT HAVE A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. PARKED CAR, SHUT OFF, REMOVED KEY, OPENED DOOR AND RESTARTED CAR. DROVE FINE (NO ISSUES) FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES AND THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME RADIO STAYED ON AND ENGINE DID NOT CUT OUT, GUAGES RETURNED TO NORMAL AFTER ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES OF INTERMITTENT FLUCTUATING, ERROR MESSAGES DISAPPEARED FROM MESSAGE CENTER WITHOUT HAVING TO SHUT OFF CAR, BUT TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT SHOWED IT WAS OFF AND I COULD NOT TURN BACK ON - TRACTION CONTROL WORKED AFTER CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED A SHORT TIME LATER. RECALL REPAIR FOR POWER STEERING TORQUE SENSOR WAS COMPLETED AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO, IN 2015. TWO MECHANICS IN AREA COULD NOT FIND CODES THAT WERE THROWN BUT STATE THAT IT IS PROBABLY THE PART OR A PART PERTAINING TO THE RECALLED TORQUE SENSOR, BUT COULD NOT CONFIRM.

SHE SAID THE RECALL PARTS CAN BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE AT THEIR DEALERSHIP. I ASKED HER IF REPLACING THE CAR OR BEING REIMBURSEMENT WAS AN OPTION. SHE SAID SHE NEVER HEARD OF THAT. AFTER HER DENYING IF THAT WAS EVEN AN OPTION SHE LATER INFORMED ME THAT GETTING REIMBURSED WAS A LENGTHY PROCESS. I ASKED HER TO POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I WAS GIVEN GENERAL MOTORS RECALL NUMBER. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND AFTER EXPLAINING MY STORY TO SEVERAL AGENTS. FINALLY AN AGENT CONTACTED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. THAT OCCURRED AROUND 11AM. I DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING FROM GM OR THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL 3 PM THE NEXT DAY. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE SERVICE GUY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE CAR WAS THERE FOR. MY CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER 24 HOURS WITH KNOW CONTACT INFO OR SERVICE REQUEST. WE FURTHER DISCUSSED WHAT I WANTED TO COME OUT OF THIS AND I LET HIM KNOW I FELT UNSAFE DRIVING THE CAR WITH POWER STEERING AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES. EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL IS SHOT. IT STARTED ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO..ONE BY ONE, EVERYTHING IN THE CAR (ELECTRICAL) STOPPED WORKING. SUCH AS.. 1. POWER LOCK FOR THE DOORS DOESN'T WORK 2. TRUNK RELEASE BUTTON DOESN'T OPEN THE TRUNK 3. CAR ALARM WOULD GO OFF EVERY TIME I OPENED THE DOOR (AS THE DOOR WAS UNLOCKED) 4. AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING 5. BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE WHILE DRIVING, AND WOULD GO OFF WHEN I WOULD BRAKE. 6. BRAKE LIGHTS WOULDN'T ILLUMINATE AT ALL SOMETIMES. 7. HEADLIGHTS AND/OR TAILLIGHTS WOULD GO OUT, OR DIM RANDOMLY 8. PUSH-LOCK BUTTON ON EACH DOOR WOULD GO UP AND DOWN (BY ITSELF) AS I WOULD BE DRIVING, OR WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED. (COULDN'T LOCK MY CAR DOORS) BECAUSE OF THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING ISSUES, I WAS PULLED OVER TWICE. I ALSO HAD MY CAR REPAIRED A COUPLE TIMES (MECHANIC EVEN CALLED PONTIAC FOR ASSISTANCE). AFTER THE CAR WAS FIXED, (IF POSSIBLE), THE LIGHTS WOULD STOP PROPERLY WORKING AGAIN, SHORTLY AFTER BEING 'REPAIRED' . EVENTUALLY, I STOPPED DRIVING THE CAR. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE FEBRUARY, 2014 (5 MONTHS). I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO CONTINUOUSLY GET THE CAR FIXED (TO PASS INSPECTION), OR PAY FOR SAFETY VIOLATIONS. THEREFORE, I HAVEN'T HAD A CAR TO DRIVE FOR 5 MONTHS. I HAD RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL (PRIOR TO THE RECALL LETTER IN JUNE 2014) STATING THERE WAS A DEFAULT WITH THE POWER STEERING. I CALLED THE NUMBER TWICE. AT FIRST, I WAS TOLD MY CAR ISSUES WERE NOT RELEVANT TO THE DEFAULT. THE SECOND TIME, (PROBABLY A COUPLE MONTHS LATER) I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS NOW OVER THE MILEAGE TO BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY (STATED IN THE LETTER), AND THEREFORE IT VOIDED MY ELIGIBILITY TO HAVE THE REPAIRED BY THEM. *TR

I HAD THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE MAKER LIGHT REPLACED AND IT WAS NOTICED THAT IT WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE BACK BRAKE LIGHTS 6-8 TIMES. LASTLY, THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEGUN STALLING BOTH AT INITIAL ACCELERATION AND WHEN DRIVING ABOVE 35MPH THE VEHICLES SUDDENLY LOSES ITS GEAR AND BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN IN TRAFFIC. TO THIS DAY 2/15/2014, THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING IS TO RUN A DIRECT CABLE FROM THE ALTERNATOR TO THE BATTERY. IT IS THE ONLY WAY THEY GIVE OFF THE CORRECT VOLTAGE AND WORK WITH EACH OTHER. THEY CAN NO LONGER FUNCTION SEPARATELY OF EACH OTHER. I'VE READ SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE ON EDMUNDS.COM WITH NO RESPONSE FROM GM. THIS PONTIAC G6 WAS TAKEN TO DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME COMPLAINT. 9/23/2009. THE FIRST OCCASION, THE VEHICLE'S CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK AND THE GEARSHIFT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO MOVE OUT OF PARK. ON ONE OCCASION THE CAR HAD TO BE LEFT AT WORK SITE AS GEAR SHIFT COULD NOT BE MOVED UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING. LAST, SEVERAL PEOPLE TOLD ME THAT BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON WHILE DRIVING AND TURNED OFF WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES; ALL THE SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL #09V036000 SECOND OCCASION: IT WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AGAIN 6/20/2011 FOR THE SAME SYMPTOMS THE DIELECTRIC LUBRICANT SUGGESTED IN THE RECALL WAS APPLIED BOTH TIMES AND COMPLAINTS CURED. AS I WAS PULLING INTO WORK, MY CAR DINGED THREE TIMES, THEN POWER STEERING WAS FLASHED ON MY RADIO AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP! UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR, I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND THE ESTIMATED REPAIRS WOULD COST $900! THIS IS A HORRIBLE CAR, AS THIS IS JUST ONE OF THE FEW PROBLEMS I AM HAVING WITH THIS VEHICLE. EVERY TIME I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, SOMETHING IN THE STEERING SYSTEM IS MAKING IT CLANK, AND WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL BACK IT WILL CLANK AGAIN. IF I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP AND HAVE MY HANDS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL, WHEN I APPLY THE GAS, THE WHEEL WILL PULL ITSELF ABOUT HALF A TURN TO THE LEFT AND AS I PICK UP SPEED IT WILL RECENTER ITSELF. WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL THERE IS ALSO A GRINDING NOISE. THE STRUTS HAVE GONE BAD, WHICH IS $450 MORE, AND THERE IS A LEAK IN THE FRONT LEFT TIRE SOMEWHERE (NOT THE TIRE ITSELF, THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS LEAKING OIL SOMEWHERE). THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE COME ON RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSES THE LIGHTS TO BE INOPERABLE WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE BEEN IN SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS FOR REAR END ACCIDENTS. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED UNDER RECALL 2 TIMES NOW. THE FIX LASTS APPROXIMATELY 3 TO 4 MONTHS, THEN THE EXACT SAME, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, BRAKE LIGHT AND CRUISE CONTROL ISSUE RETURNS. WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGES AT RANDOM ALSO. THIS HAS CAUSED MANY NERVE RACKING SITUATIONS WHEN CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGES IN TRAFFIC WHILE TRAVELING UP A HILL. GM'S FIX OF APPLYING DIELECTRIC GREASE TO THE CONNECTOR IS A BAND AID TYPE FIX AND IS NOT A REMEDY FOR THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS RECALL ISSUE. THE WIRING SYSTEM DID NOT SEEM TO RECOGNIZE PARK OR DISCONNECTED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I LATER TRIED TO TURN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON AT ALL. 4 MONTHS AGO I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE KEY GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION BECAUSE THE CAR DIDN'T RECOGNIZE IT AS BEING IN PARK. THREE OTHER TIMES I HAD ISSUES WITH THE BRAKE/FOOT PEDDLES. I WOULD HAVE TO BREAK TO ACCELERATE AND DRIVE TO SLOW DOWN OR IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL UNTIL IT REACHED 30MPH. I EXPECT THIS WILL SOON BE FLAKING RIGHT OFF! 2. AROUND SAME TIME PAINT PROBLEM STARTED, CD PLAYER STOPPED WORKING. 3. THIS BECAME MORE FREQUENT UNTIL SUDDENLY IT COMPLETELY REVERSED ITSELF. NOW "HOT" STARTS ARE GENERALLY FINE, CRANKING AND NON IGNITION TYPICALLY HAPPENS ON "COLD" STARTS (SAME IN HOT AND COLD WEATHER). FOR A CAR PURCHASED WITH 29K MILES AND IS NOW ONLY AT 66K I SAY THIS IS DEPLORABLE! ALL THESE THINGS OCCURRED AFTER 36K WARRANTY ENDED BUT WITHIN THE FIRST 20-30K MILES PUT ON CAR. RIDICULOUS! THIS ORIGINALLY OCCURRED 1 TIME , WE TOOK THE VEH TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WOULD SHUT DOWN AFTER REACHING A CERTAIN TEMP SO THEY REPLACED IT, IT WAS FINE ABOUT 1 MONTH BEFORE BEGINNING TO DO THE SAME THING THIS TIME ON A VERY FREQUENTLY ALMOST TO THE POINT IT DOES IT NOW EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. I HAVE DONE ALOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUES MADE TO PONTIAC/GM BY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE AND GM SEEMS TO BE IGNORING THE PROBLEM. I HAVE RECENTLY DID A TUNE UP ON MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 JUST PLUGS AND PLUG WIRES. WHEN MY WIFE TOLD ME THE CAR LOCKED IT STEERING WHEEL UPON A QUICK TAKE OFF I THEN DROVE THE CAR AGAIN AND ALSO HAD TWO LOCK UPS WITH ME. AFTER THAT HAPPEN TO US WE NEVER REALLY DO ANY FAST TAKEOFFS WITH THE CAR. THIS HAPPEN 3 TIMES IN THE MONTH OF JANUARY. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WITH A TAKEOFF AND ALL THE PANEL LIGHTS ACT LIKE THEY TURN OFF WITH ALL GAUGES DROP IN OFF POSITION, BUT THE CAR STILL RUNNING. I WAS PREPARING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN. UPON MAKING ANOTHER LEFT TURN INTO MY PARKING LOT AT WORK THE STEERING FAILED AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH VEHICLES BEHIND ME. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER AWAY FROM THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON. THIS VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS ALMOST EVERY MORNING WITHOUT FAIL. IT ONLY DOES IT WHEN I MAKE A LEFT TURN AND I NOTICE THERE'S A "SCRAPING" OR "SCRUBBING" SOUND WHEN I BEGIN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND GENERAL MOTORS NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ASAP. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM AUCTION IN APRIL OF 2006. I HAVE HAD THE CAR THREE YEARS NOW. FROM THE TIME THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT STARTING. THE ENGINE TICKS PERIODICALLY AND IT SOMETIMES STALLS UPON STARTING. THE NUTS IN THE DOOR LOOSEN EVERY TWO WEEKS AND MAKE A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND WHEN THEY ARE COMING LOOSE. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR IT ONLY HAD 10 MILES ON IT AND WITHIN THE NEXT 6 MONTHS IT WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES. THE FIRST 2 TIMES I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS SOME LOOSE WIRING OR THAT THE WIRE WAS TO CLOSE TO A COMPONENT AND THE COMPONENT MELTED THE PLASTIC COVERING THE WIRES. THE THIRD TIME I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SECURITY INFORMATION BUT, IT WAS CORRECTED. THEN AT 40,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED JERKING WHENEVER I DROVE IT. IT SEEMED AS IF THE GAS WAS NOT GETTING TO THE ENGINE QUICK ENOUGH (I'M NOT A MECHANIC) THEN THE MILEAGE WENT CONSIDERABLY DOWN. FOR A FULL TANK OF GAS I USED TO GET 451 MILES THIS IS TOLD THROUGH THE FUEL MONITOR THAT IS IN THE CAR. BUT, AFTER THIS BEGAN OCCURRING THE MONITOR WOULD STATE 239 MILES AFTER I FILLED IT UP! I HAVE HAD TO FILL-UP 6 TIMES IN 2 WEEKS. WHEN A TANK OF GAS USED TO LAST 2 WEEKS FOR ME. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND WAS TOLD THAT I AM NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SO THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. ONCE THEY DIAGNOSED THE CAR THEY STATED THAT IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND THE WOULD REPLACE FREE OF CHARGE AND THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST EITHER. WHILE I WAS ECSTATIC TO KNOW THAT THEY WERE GOING TO FIX MY VEHICLE AT NO CHARGE TO ME, WARNING BELLS DID SOUND OFF IMMEDIATELY. WHEN I RECEIVED THE INVOICE BACK FROM THEM IT STATED THAT THESE ITEMS WERE REPLACED: OXIDATION CATALYTIC CONVERTER, 2 GASKETS, 1 PIPE AND 2 MANIFOLD CORE CHG. AND AFTER ALL OF THIS WORK WHICH TOOK FROM 8:30A.M TO 2:00PM, MY MILEAGE MONITOR IS NOW REPORTING 300 MILES FOR A FULL TANK OF GAS WHEN ORIGINALLY I WAS GETTING 451. I HAVE A 06 PONTIAC G6 W/ 20K MILES. AT 4K MILES IT WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A CD PLAYER PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE MORE PROBLEMS. 3 WEEKS AGO WE WENT TO USE THE VEHICLE AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. IT WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND BATT. FOUND TO BE BAD. LAST MONDAY 29TH WE FOUND THE BATTERY TO BE DEAD AGAIN SO IT WAS TOWED BACK TO TE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. ONCE AGAIN BATTERY WAS BAD AND REPLACED. THEN WE HAD BEEN NOTICING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL RANGE, MILEAGE AND LOW FUEL LIGHT. YOU WOULD BE DRIVING AND THE GAS GAUGE WOULD SAY YOU HAD 1/4 TANK LEFT AND 39 MILES TO EMPTY. YOU DRIVE A MILE AND THE GAUGE IS ON EMPTY AND IT SAYS LOW FUEL!!! THE DEALERSHIP SAYS " NO PROBLEM FOUND, WORKING AS MANF. BUILT" THEN IT WOULD SAY YOU HAVE X AMOUNT OF MILES TO EMPTY THEN THE NUMBER WOULD JUMP UP AND DOWN. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHO SAID. " NO PROBLEM FOUND, WORKING AS MANF. BUILT". I PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND IT SAID 206 MILES TO EMPTY, I DROVE A HALF MILE AND IT SAID 180 MILES TO EMPTY. THEN DROVE A QUARTER MILE AND IT SAID 193 MILES TO EMPTY. THIS WAS UNDER NORMAL SPEEDS AND ACCELERATION. MY DEALERSHIP FINALLY REFUSED TO WORK ON THE VEHICLE SO I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHO SAID "CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM" SO I DROPPED IT OFF TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. FIRST LEAK WAS THE XM ANTENNA. WATER CAME IN THROUGH ROOF CENTER CONSOLE LIGHTS. SECOND LEAK WAS FROM THE SUNROOF WATER ENTERED THE CABIN THROUGH THE SAME PLACE. DEALER REPAIRED SUNROOF DRAIN TUBE. THIRD LEAK WAS THE SUNROOF DRAIN TUBE. DEALER REPAIRED THE OTHER SUNROOF DRAIN TUBE. THE WATER ENTER THE CABIN AND RAN ON THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT. THIS HAPPENED IN THE WINTER AND THE SEAT BELT FROZE SOLID IN THE RETRACTION REEL. AT THE SAME TIME THE WATER ALSO DAMAGED THE AIRBAG SENSORS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND CAUSED THE AN AIRBAG FAILURE. THE FORTH LEAK SOAKED BOTH SEAT BELTS. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP EXTENDED THE SUNROOF DRAIN TUBES PER A SERVICE BULLETIN. NOW THERE ARE INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. THE FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE WAS MY WINDOW SWITCH QUIT WORKING, WHICH WAS REPLACED, BUT AFTER RESEARCHING I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED A MONTH AGO, MY POWER STEERING FAILED AS I WAS TURNING A CORNER. THIS THEN PROCEEDED TO HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES, WHEN I WAS GOING BETWEEN 0-40 MPH. I HAD TO SHUT OFF THE CAR, THEN IT WAS OKAY (NO "POWER STEERING LIGHT" CAME ON). THE ELECTRICAL CHIP WAS REPLACED. THIRD INCIDENT, POWER STEERING LIGHT STARTING COMING ON AND STEERING WAS HARDER TO CONTROL (BUT NOT LOCKING UP). I HAD SEVERAL TYPES OF ELECTRICAL FAILURES WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST ONE WAS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WAS RESET BY DEALER WITH NO CODES FOUND. THE NEXT WAS LOW COOLANT WARNING THAT WAS A DEFECTIVE WIRE AND REPAIRED. ANOTHER TIME THE VEHICLE SIMPLY WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. AFTER FILLING VEHICLE WITH GAS THE DASH PANEL WAS COMPLETELY OUT, VEHICLE RAN NORMAL. DEALER WAS AWARE THAT NO INSTRUMENTS WERE WORKING AND WAS UNABLE TO DETECT THE PROBLEM, NO CODES FOUND. DOME LIGHT NEVER WORKED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE FIXED. IN DECEMBER I STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT IN TRAFFIC AND SMELLED MELTING OR BURNING PLASTIC AND SECONDS LATER A SMALL CLOUD OF FOWL SCENTED SMOKE ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I CALLED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAITED FOR THE TOW TRUCK . WHEN THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED THE VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THEN CAUGHT FIRE. THE DAMAGE WAS NOT REPAIRABLE. AT THE TIME I WAS CERTIFIED PONTIAC RETAIL PROFESSIONAL AND AS OF NEW YEARS DAY HAD NOT BEEN GIVEN A RENTAL VEHICLE UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN THE LEAST BIT HELPFUL IN THE SITUATION AND AS A RESULT I HAVE SINCE LEFT MY JOB AS A GM SALES PROFESSIONAL. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND TOLD ME THAT I DON'T DRIVE THE CAR ENOUGH TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. I DRIVE MY CAR BETWEEN 17 TO 20 MILES A DAY. THEY RECHARGED THE BATTERY AND TWO WEEKS LATER IT WAS DEAD AGAIN. THE DEALER TALKED WITH GM TECH SUPPORT WHO ALSO AGREED WITH THE DEALER THAT I DON'T DRIVE MY CAR ENOUGH. THEY ALSO CHECKED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THE PARASITIC DRAW AND THEY ALL ARE FINE. ONCE AGAIN THEY RECHARGED MY BATTERY. ONE MONTH LATER IN MARCH THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. THE DEALER FOLLOWED THE SAME PROCEDURE AS BEFORE AND TOLD ME THAT GM TECH SUPPORT SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR AND NO FURTHER TESTS WILL BE DONE. THEY AGREED TO LET ME COME IN AND HAVE THE BATTERY TESTED EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. APPROX TWO WEEKS LATER THE BATTERY WAS TESTED AND IT WAS FAILING SO THEY REPLACED MY BATTERY AGAIN. I CONTINUED TO HAVE MY BATTERY TESTED UNTIL THE END OF APRIL. I DIDN'T HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH IT UNTIL JULY 06 WHEN THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. I HAD IT JUMPSTARTED AND BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. THEY CHECKED THE BATTERY AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AGAIN AND FOUND NOTHING. THERE THEY FOUND IT WAS A WIRING HARNESS CHAFE AROUND THE STARTER MOTOR AND ALSO CONCERNING THE AIR CONDITIONING LINES AND THAT CAUSED A FEW FUSES TO BLOW. AS OF TODAY NOVEMBER 28, 2006 I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH STARTING THE CAR AND THE DEALER CANT FIND WHATS WRONG. THE CAR JUST TURNED ONE YEAR AND SHOULDN'T HAVE THESE ISSUES. I HAD TO GO OUT AND BUY A PORTABLE JUMP STARTER BECASUE THIS CAR IS SO UNPREDICTABLE. IT HAS BEEN BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES IN 2 MONTHS AND I AM TIRED OF IT. *NM

I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE STARTING. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT I'VE HAD THE CAR JUMP STARTED 3 TIMES. AT OTHER TIMES IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT WILL CRANK. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS INSTEAD OF HAVING IT JUMPED. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY YARD. A TYPICAL FLORIDA STORM QUICKLY BLEW THROUGH. LIGHTNING STRUCK NEAR-BY SETTING OFF THE HORN, WHICH WOULD NOT STOP. SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE CAR. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO THEN EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND A REPORT WAS MADE. I PURCHASED A NEW 2006 PONTIAC G6 IN JAN 06, AT 3000 MILES THE CAR WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER WITH LOW COOLANT, IT'S BEEN IN THE 2 TIMES SINCE AND IS GOING BACK FOR THE SAME REASON 10/16/06. TOTAL THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE CENTER 7 TIMES INCLUDING THIS TRIP. THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH TIME FOR COOLANT LEAK. 1 FOR AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE, 1 FOR A PINCHED BRAKE LINE, AND 1 TO REPAIR ITEMS THE SERVICE CENTER LEFT UNDONE. 7 TIMES IN THE SERVICE CENTER IN 9 MONTHS, WOW SOUNDS AS IF SOMETHING MAY BE WRONG HUH? I HAVE CONTACTED THE GM 800 SPOKE TO 5 DIFFERENT REPS THEY SEEM TO BE OF THE OPINON NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR ON 4/12/2006. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS A PROBLEM SO WHEN THE PASSENGER ROLLS DOWN THE POWER WINDOW THE DRIVER CAN NOT PUT IT BACK UP. ON 6/29/2006 I TOOK IT IN FOR THIS AND THEY PUT GREASE ON MY WINDOWS AND THEY REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SWITCH. IT WORKED FOR 2 DAYS AND THEN IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING STOPPED WORKING AS WELL, SO ON 7/8/2006 I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SWITCH AGAIN AND REPAIRED THE WIRES TO THE WARNING FOR SEAT BELT. NOW HERE WE ARE IT IS 7/17 AND IT QUIT AGAIN ON FRIDAY THE 7/14/2006 SO I CALLED AND THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE KEEPING IT INDEFINITELY AND THE LADY WHO MADE MY APPT. SAID I SHOULD CONSIDER RENTING A CAR. I ARGUED THAT FOR AS MUCH MONEY AS I SPENT ON THIS CAR I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO, SO THEY AGREED TO PAY THE RENTAL. MY CONCERN IS THIS; THINGS KEEP HAPPENING WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHAT IF IT CAUSES A FIRE OR WORSE AN ACCIDENT WITH ME AND MY 3 KIDS IN IT. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR A PERIOD OF SEVERAL DAYS, BUT AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION, THERE WAS THE STRONG ODOR OF SOMETHING BURNING. FURTHER EXAMINATION REVEALED GRAYISH BLACK SMOKE ERUPTING FROM THE CENTER CONSOLE NEAR THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT PULLED UP THE PANEL WHICH REVEALED NO OBVIOUS FIRE, BUT MORE SMOKE. AFTER THE REMOVAL OF FOAM INSULATION BLOCK FROM THE CONSOLE, FLAMES WERE VISIBLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE EMERGENCY OPERATOR INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO THE TURN OFF THE IGNITION. WHILE DOING AS INSTRUCTED, THE FLAMES TOUCHED THE CONTACT'S ARM RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES. MEANWHILE THE FLAMES ENGULFED THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS DEEMED A COMPLETE LOSS, THERE WAS EXTENSIVE FIRE DAMAGE. POLICE WERE ON THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. AFTERWARDS, THE FIRE INSPECTOR DETERMINED THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL IN NATURE.

FOG LIGHT AND SEAT HEATER SWITCH GET HOT WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON. I MEASURED THE TEMPERATURE OF THE FOG LIGHT SWITCH TO BE 117 DEGREES WHEN THE REST OF THE VEHICLE INTERIOR WAS AT 59 DEGREES. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THERE IS A FIRE HAZARD BUT THE DEALER SAYS IT IS NORMAL. *NM

WHEN DRIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON, DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER WILL SHOW MESSAGE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND CAR WILL SLOW DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY AND NOT GO OVER 45 MPH. ADDITIONALLY CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK. IF TURNED OFF REMOTE START WILL NOT WORK AND VEHICLE RESTARTS WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND RUNS ROUGH. USUALLY NEXT RESTART CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL BE OFF AND WILL RUN BETTER. VEHICLE WILL HAVE BURNT SMELL WHEN PARKED IN GARAGE AFTER INCIDENT. COMPUTER IS STORING ERROR CODES BUT DEALER CAN NOT DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. DEALER INDICATES "SOFTWARE ERROR" PREVENTS THEM FROM GETTING INFORMATION ABOUT VEHICLE AT TIME WHEN ERROR CODES WERE RECORDED. IN SHOP 3 TIMES AND THEY CAN NOT FIGURE OUT, WANTED ME TO USE A DATA RECORDER BUT WHEN THEY TRIED TO SHOW ME HOW TO WORK IT THE RECORDED DID NOT WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES, 2/9/2006 ON I95, 2/20/2006 DURING IN TOWN DRIVING(ONLY DISABLED REMOTE START AND BURNING SMELL), AND 3/4/2006 ON A COUNTRY ROAD. *JB

TRANSMISSION HAS A VERY POOR FEEL GENERALLY AND GENERALLY FEELS DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. GRINDING IS MORE APPARENT WITH LOW SPEED SHIFTS OR WHEN TURNING. THE SECOND COMPLAINT IS THAT THE FOG LIGHT BUTTON AND THE SEAT HEATER SWITCH GET NOTICEABLY HOT WHILE DRIVING WITH THE LIGHTS ON. THE THIRD COMPLAINT IS THAT THE DASH LIGHTS DO NOT GO ON WHEN YOU PUT THE LIGHTS ON MANUALLY DURING THE DAY. *NM

IF BY CHANCE I WAS ON A BUSY STREET, IT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. I WAS ALSO INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC, MY G6 WAS THE SECOND IN TWO DAYS WITH THE INCORRECT WIRING. *JB
