The contact owns a 2006 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to Midas. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure and was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was then towed to an undisclosed dealer and the contact was informed that the engine failed due to the timing belt and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. AFTER FIXING THE RECALLED PART I HAVE PURCHASED A BATTERY, A CALIBER, STARTER, AND TWO HUBS. MY CAR IS STILL NOT WORKING IT WILL FUNCTION FOR A COUPLE OF MILES PERFECTLY, AND THEN IT RETURNS TO THE SAME PROBLEMS. FIRST IT WILL NOT GEAR UP THE CAR WILL BE ON DRIVE AND IT WILL TAKE A COUPLE OF MINUTES TO CATCH, THEN THE CAR WILL LOCK UP AND NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE. SO I WILL HAVE TO GET A TOW SERVICE BECAUSE THE ABS SYSTEM WILL LOCK THE CAR AND I CANNOT PUSH IT TO A SAFE AREA.

I STOPPED TO LET IT COOL AND CHECKED ALL THE FLUIDS, EVERYTHING WAS OK. I TRIED TO DRIVE MY CAR 10 MINUTES TO MAKE IT TO MY HOUSE. WHILE REVERSING A LOT POP HAPPENED. I STOPPED AND LOOKED AND PINK FLUID WAS RUNNING DOWN THE PARKING LOT. I TRIED TO MOVE THE CAR OUT THE WAY BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS HARD TO TURN. AFTER AN HOUR I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT TO A RELATIVES HOUSE AFTER REFILLING THE CAR WITH POWER STEERING FLUID. AFTER 2 HOURS OF SITTING WE TRIED TO TAKE IT TO MY HOUSE AND AS WE LEFT THE CAR LOCKED UP. THE ENGINE RAN BUT THE TIRES WERE GETTING NO ROTATION. WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FOR ABOUT AN HOUR WHILE A MECHANIC TOOK THE BRAKE CALIBER AND BRAKE PADS OFF, SO WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OUT THE WAY. IT IS GM SAFETY RECALL 14152 ISSUED IN JULY 2014, BUT NOTED THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THIS RECALL NOTICE. A FOLLOW-UP NOTICE WAS ISSUED BY GM IN SEPTEMBER 2014. I COMPLETED THE CUSTOMER REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST FORM FOR THE REPAIRS COMPLETED ON MAY 5, 2014 AND SUBMITTED TO GM ON 10/15/2014. THE TOTAL BILL FOR REPAIRS WAS $451.61. CALLED PONTIAC TALKED TO SENIOR ADVISOR WHO SAID THE SAME AS THE DEALER----WELL WE ONLY FIX RECALL STUFF WE DO NOT LOOK OR CHECK OTHER THINGS. SO I RECALLED DEALER WHO SAID " WELL BRING IN THE CAR AND WE CAN CHECK IT OUT FOR $80 AND IF IT TRANSMISSION IT WILL BE $3000/4000 EXTRA. SO I DID THE RECALL ITEMS AS TOLD--AND A CAR THAT WAS RUNNING GOOD BEFORE I TOOK IT IN , NOW IS IN DRIVEWAY WITH POWER STEERING PROBLEMS AND WON'T GO INTO ANY GEAR.AS BOTH THE DEALER AND PONTIAC SAID " WELL NOW IT BECOMES THE CONSUMER PROBLEM NOT OURS-WE DID THE RECALLS". RECENTLY IN MAY I STARTED HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 V6 . ONCE THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS AS FAR AS THE SPEED SENOR CONTROL, I TOOK ACTIONS AS FAR AS GETTING QUOTES FOR REPAIRS. EVERY TRANSMISSION PLACED THAT I CONTACTED WAS QUOTING A PRICE NO HIGHER THAN 3,000 BECAUSE OF THE TYPE OF TRANSMISSION THAT WAS IN THE CAR. AS THE DAYS AND TIME GOES BY THERE WAS NO WAY THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO COME WITH THIS MONEY. I CONTACTED THE LIEN HOLDER IN JUNE, STATED THAT I WANTED TO RETURN THE CAR, BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO COME UP THAT TYPE OF MONEY TO REPAIR MY CAR. AS OF 08/01/2014, I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM GM STATING THAT IT WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THAT IT WAS GIVING ME. I HAVE SENT A COPY OF THE LETTER TO UNITED AUTO CREDIT THINKING THAT THEY WOULD TAKE THIS IN CONSIDERATION. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THIS PROBLEM WOULD HAVE OCCURRED I WOULD HAVE KEPT MY CAR, INSTEAD OF GOING THROUGH THE TIME AND TROUBLE BEING WITHOUT A CAR, AND PAYING ON A CAR THAT I NO LONGER HAVE. SINCE I HAD MY CAR I WAS NEVER LATE ON PAYMENTS. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR HAS CAUSED ME AN ON 9 MONTH PROBATION PERIOD WITH MY JOB, DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAD TO CALL OFF WORK OR LATE FOR WORK. SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED, I HAVE KEPT UP THE MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR. I ALSO HAVE DOCUMENTS TO FOLLOW THAT, UNTIL THE DAY IT WAS RETURNED TO THE LIEN HOLDER. I HAVE JUST RECEIVED IN JULY OF 2014 (2) MORE RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE, REGARDING THE BODY CONTROL MODULE, AND TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE, AGAIN STATING THAT NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. MY FIANCE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND IT FRIGHTENED ME TO THING THAT HER TRANSMISSION CABLE COULD GO, SO I CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE ISSUE TO ATTEMPT TO FIND OUT HOW LONG UNTIL THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, SINCE I WORRY ABOUT HER SAFETY. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS SEVERELY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. WHEN I AM AT A STOP AND PUSH THE GAS TO GO THE CAR HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING. USUALLY THE SPEED IS BETWEEN 0-15 MPH. I HAVE STOPPED PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF ANY CAR BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ENOUGH SPEED TO GO FAST ENOUGH AND IT'S GOING TO CAUSE A WRECK. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR LOOKED AT BY A TRANSMISSION MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THERE ISN'T ANYTHING SHOWING AS WRONG, I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO A DEALER AND AGAIN THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT SUSPECTED AN ISSUE TO BE MODULE OR SOLENOID THAT WOULD COST OVER $1500 TO FIX AND THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE IT IS THE ISSUE. UNTIL RECENTLY I HAD AN ACCIDENT WHERE A LADY LEFT HER CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND RAN OFF AND LEFT IT IN THE MIDDLE LANES COMING OFF OF A BRIDGE A MAN SLAMMED ON HIS BRAKES AND I HIT THE SIDE OF HIS BUMPER , AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR AND I GOT A NEW FRONT END AND A NEW RADIATOR AGAIN. STILL LEAKED FLUID. MY HUSBAND AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK FROM THE REPAIR SHOP FOUND THE LEAK AND BOUGHT A PART AND FIXED IT HIMSELF. PRETTY GOOD AFTER 3 RADIATORS AND ALL THE TECHS WORKING ON IT OVER THE 6 YRS, HE HAD TO FIX IT. MY PROBLEMS STARTED WITH THIS CAR BEFORE I EVEN GOT HOME WITH MY NEW PURCHASE. I HAD 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND THE TIRE BLEW OFF THE RIM DAMAGING THE FENDER NOTES FROM THE INVOICE STATE THAT "PARTS AND LABOR TO BE BILLED TO 67D 67F, CANNOT WARR TIRE THAT HAS BEEN MOUNTED WRONG ON 1ST REPAIR" THEN ON 6/26/06 PAINT WAS REFINISHED DUE TO CLEAR COAT PEELING ON THE HOOD. ON 11/06/06 RADIO DOES NOT PLAY CD'S AND RADIO WAS REPLACED. 3K MILE SERVICE WITH MOTOR SILK. ALSO AIRBAG LIGHT WAS STAYING ON AND THEY SAID THEY FOUND A WIRE TO SDM LOOSE AND REPAIRED WIRE. ALSO RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS LEAKING AIR. 4/20/2007 ENGINE WAS KNOCKING LOUD WHEN FIRST STARTED IN MORNING AT THAT TIME THEY REPLACED THE LIFTERS. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED SHORTLY AFTER THAT AND AGAIN HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYING, DEALERSHIP AGAIN SAID IT WAS A SENSOR BUT THIS IS ONLY A FEW OF MANY ISSUES I'VE BEEN HAVING WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE TWO COMPLAINTS. I HAVE A 2006 PONTIAC G6. IT HAS 107,000 MILES, THEY ARE ALL HIGHWAY MILES. MY FUEL TANK RECENTLY STARTED LEAKING ALOT OF GAS. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I COULD HAVE CAUSED AND THAT IT IS A DEFECTIVE PART. I AM VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE MY CAR CAN CATCH ON FIRE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6 GT. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE OFF THE DEALER LOT AT APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH, THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE WITH THE POWER WINDOWS. IN ADDITION, THE CELL PHONE CHARGER FUSE CONTINUED TO BLOW OUT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD MAKE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY. THERE WAS BUBBLING IN THE PAINT JOB THAT WAS ALSO REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, THE STEREO CHANGES FROM XM FM TO AM. THE SCREEN FOR THE XM RADIO IS BLANK, THE CLOCK IS ALWAYS BEHIND, AND THE FUEL GAUGE NEVER WORKS PROPERLY. IT IS DIFFICULT TO TELL EXACTLY HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE TICKS PERIODICALLY AND IT SOMETIMES STALLS UPON STARTING. THE NUTS IN THE DOOR LOOSEN EVERY TWO WEEKS AND MAKE A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND WHEN THEY ARE COMING LOOSE. THERE IS ALSO SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE POWER STEERING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY AS IF IT WERE LOOSE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY REPLACED THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT, FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIE ROD, AND THE STEERING RACK. SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL AND SEVERAL OF THE PARTS FOR THE STEERING UNIT WERE ON A NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,161 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,493. UPDATED 09/15/08 *BF THE TRANSMSSION WAS SHIFTING HARD. THE TIE ROD END WAS LOOSE AND WORN. SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE 2006 G6 THAT WE PURCHASED IN 2005. WE HAVE HAD THE ENTIRE FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY REPLACED, I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR WHAT FEELS LIKE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE, THE PASSING GEAR ON THE CAR DOES NOT KICK IN. WE HAD THE CAR TO THE DEALER A 2ND TIME ON 04/23/2007 BECAUSE WHEN WE WERE DRIVING THE CAR OVER THE WEEKEND THE CAR DIDN'T KICK INTO THE PASSING GEAR AT 60 MILES AN HOUR AND WHEN IT DID THE CAR DROPPED DOWN TO 20 MILES AN HOUR AND JERKED AND FINALLY ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER IT WENT BACK TO A NORMAL SPEED BUT STILL WOULD ACCELERATE AND DECELERATE ON ITS OWN. TOOK IT TO THE DEAL WHO FINALLY GOT IT TO DO AS WE DESCRIBED BUT NOT HAS BAD, ON THE NEXT DAY THEY COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE SO WE WERE TOLD THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR US SINCE IT WASN'T FLASHING ANY CODES TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE IT FEELS AS IF THE POWER OF THE CAR IS DROPPING WHEN YOU ACCELERATE AND I AM AFRAID TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR FOR FEAR THAT THE CAR WILL NOT GO AND THEY WILL BE INJURED. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THE DEALER KNOWING THAT IT HAD AN ISSUE TURNED AROUND AND TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR US BECAUSE THERE WERE NOT CODES TELLING THEM THERE WAS A PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THEY DROVE THE CAR AND REALIZED THAT THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT HAD A BLOCKAGE THAT WAS CAUSING THE CAR TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS STALLING OR THE POWER WAS DROPPING. WE HAVE ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE AC MODULE REPLACED. I DON'T FEEL THIS IS A SAFE CARE FOR ME TO DRIVE WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR. *JB

TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A PONTIAC G6 WHICH WAS INVOLVED A CRASH IN JULY 2006. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 900. THE CV JOINT FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH. THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE, AND WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, LESS THAN 5 MINUTES AWAY, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL, HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND DROVE INTO A DITCH. GM STATED THAT THE FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR DUE TO THE CV BOOTS, AND THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE TIE ROD END. THE CONTACT HAS A POLICE REPORT AND PHOTOS. THE POLICE REPORT WAS INCORRECT IN STATING THAT IT WAS A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE CONTACT AND THE OTHER DRIVER INVOLVED IN THE CRASH DISAGREED WITH THE REPORT. THE VEHICLE HIT A CURB BEFORE GOING INTO THE DITCH. THE IMPACT WAS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, THERE WERE 2 SETS OF SKID MARKS. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THE CONTACT WAS AT FAULT AND CANCELLED HER POLICY ,STATING THAT SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE, AND THE PASSENGER WAS BRUISED. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DUE TO THE CRASH THE CONTACT NEEDED KNEE SURGERY. *AK

F40 (GTP COUPE G6) 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION 2ND AND 3RD GEARS ARE VERY HARSH TO SHIFT, SOME GRINDING. EVEN WORST UNDER SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURE. CANNOT SHIFT BACK TO 1ST GEAR IF FREEZING UNTIL OIL IS WARM.. MAKE THE CAR DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT VERY LOW SPEED AND UNDER SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. HAVE TO GO TO COMPLETE STOP WHEN TRAFFIC STILL MOVING SO TO GET 1ST GEAR IN. GM HAS A REPLACEMENT PROGRAM BUT REFUSES TO APPLY IT TO MY CASE. DEALER CHANGED FAULTY LINKAGE CABLE AND TRIED TO ADJUST SHIFTER 6 TIMES WITH NO RESULTS. GM'S DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGERS, DEALERS SERVICE MANAGER AND MECHANICS DON'T YET KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT F40 TRANSMISSION, WON'T EVEN LOOK AT THE EXCHANGE PROGRAM THAT GM PUT OUT ON FEB. 3RD 2006. *JB

GRINDING NOISE WHEN CHANGING GEARS ON 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. CLICKING OR POPPING NOISES FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF OF GAS. TRANSMISSION HAS A VERY POOR FEEL GENERALLY AND GENERALLY FEELS DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. GRINDING IS MORE APPARENT WITH LOW SPEED SHIFTS OR WHEN TURNING. THE SECOND COMPLAINT IS THAT THE FOG LIGHT BUTTON AND THE SEAT HEATER SWITCH GET NOTICEABLY HOT WHILE DRIVING WITH THE LIGHTS ON. THE THIRD COMPLAINT IS THAT THE DASH LIGHTS DO NOT GO ON WHEN YOU PUT THE LIGHTS ON MANUALLY DURING THE DAY. *NM
