Car shuts off & other lights light up on dash. Not driving over 20mph.
No warning lights came on, steering kepted locking up shutting off the vehicle
I have replaced my headlights 3 times and all 3 times the wiring harness connector was fried. I’ve had other issues with my brake lights coming on when I’m not pushing the brake pedal. I can shift out of park without hitting the pedal. All of these issues seem to be more and more frequent. After doing research I seen there was already a recall on the vehicle regarding such issues, my vin just wasn’t included for some reason. Now what I thought was just random issues, I am noticing is actually an already known manufacturer issue.
About 6 months ago I believe I file a complaint about this same issue and here I am again. A few nights ago driving home from the movies with my kids out of nowhere my headlights go out so I had to use my fog lights to make it home. I can't understand how isn't this a safety issue and why hasn't anyone done anything about it or why isn't there a recall. What is the wait? Are we waiting for a tragedy to occur to then do something?? This is like the 3 or 4th time that it has happened. Where is the urgency on this matter?? Or will I have to make a petition with other G6 owners that also have had this issue?? Some feedback would be nice on what to do or do I have to continue to spend $$$ with 0 results. Would appreciate some response and some results.

This has been an issue that has been going on for a few years it has mostly been the driver side headlight a d o. 2 occasions both headlights have not work. On November 2023 my headlights on the driver's side would not work. Also, my turn signal didn't work at all which almost caused me an accident as I was making a turn not knowing that the turn signal was not working. I took my vehicle to Alden Buick GMC where they did inform me of issues with the headlight wiring they replaced a few wires and used a zip tie to fix it. On another occasion leaving work none of my headlights worked so I had to call my wife and have her drive in front of me so that I can make it home. Now on December I was driving on the highway at 1am and all of a sudden my headlights went off so the only thing I could do is use my fog lights and follow a car in front of me. And now here we are once again driver side Not working. Now, everyone that has a Pontiac G6 knows, the issues with the headlights and the wiring. I just don't see why it hasn't been a recall on this continuous problem or even worst, Safty issue!!
The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that an unknown wiring harness had failed. The independent mechanic informed the contact that he could not repair the vehicle for fear that the vehicle could catch on fire. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 174,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while her fiancé’ was driving behind her, he notified her that her rear driver’s and passenger’s side brake lights remained illuminated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the rear passenger’s and driver’s side brake light bulbs were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact then received notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number 14V252000 (Electrical system, Exterior Lighting, Vehicle Speed Control, Electrical Stability Control). Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.

No SE lights on dash. Shudder shifts intermittently between all gears both in automatic and manual driving mode. No shops have been able to diagnose what the actual problem is. Huge safety risk as there is no telling when it will actually happen and “stall” the car out in traffic when shifting. In searching the internet this is a common problem for 5+ years and there has not been a solution identified by GM.
THE STEERING IS VERY BAD AFTER SERVICING THE VEHICLE AND SEVERAL ALIGNMENTS WHICH IS A RECALL ON THE KELLEY BLUE BOOK PAGE ALSO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING. WINDOWS WONT GO UP OR DOWN DOOR LOCKS UNLOCK AND LOCK AUTOMATICALLY, LIGHTS GO OFF AND ON HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS AND GM SAID THAT YOUR RECALLS ARE INCORRECT!!!! I KNOW THAT THESE RECALLS ARE INDEED NEEDED SEVERELY. PLEASE HELP!
The electrical harness going to the drivers door doesn't function properly in any way shape or form. My locks blow a fuse every time you hit the button my trunk pop works with my key fob but not the actual button. My passenger window only goes down if you open the door completely but then only goes up with the pass. Switch and my car radio stays on even if I shut the car off take the keys out and get out of the car... Me not being able to get windows down or trunk open in an emergency is extremely dangerous and unsafe in every way and so is the door locks not functioning properly.... I demand a safety recall be issued on the wiring harness immediately....

BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND GO OFF ONCE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED. THIS WAS A RECALL DONE SEVERAL YEARS AGO BUT IN 2019 WE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AFTER THE RECALL WAS PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM REPEATEDLY SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2011, AND IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND BY MECHANICS OTHER THAN THE RECALL. THE MOST RECENT REPAIR WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2019. YESTERDAY, THE PROBLEM RETURNED (IF IT HAD EVER GONE AWAY TO BEGIN WITH.) THE MECHANICS ARE TRYING THEIR BEST TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER, THE BEST I HAVE EVER GOTTEN IS ABOUT 8 MONTHS WITHOUT NOTICING ANY ISSUES. WHEN YOU BUY A CAR--NEW OR USED--YOU EXPECT THE BREAK LIGHTS TO WORK AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO WORK FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. NOBODY BUYS A CAR EXPECTING TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE UNCERTAINTY OF NOT KNOWING WHETHER YOUR CAR IS ACTUALLY ALERTING DRIVERS THAT YOU ARE STOPPING WHEN YOU ARE IN BUSY TRAFFIC.

I BROUGHT IT TO A GARAGE AND A TON OF CODES CAME UP THEY CLEARED IT AND TOLD ME NOT TO WORRIE ABOUT IT BUT IT SMELT WEIRD AND I NEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG.I BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION CABLES AND A THROTTLE SENSOR BECAUSE IT WAS ACTING LIKE IT WANTED TO GO FAST N THE THROTTLE WOULD ACCELERATE WHEN I DIDNT PUSH MORE ON THE PADDLE KINDA LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN CRUISE CONTROL BUT EVEN WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKES IT STILL REV.

THE VEHICLES MAIN WIRING HARNESS FOR THE HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTIONS. WE HAVE CONTACTED A NUMBER OF PONTIAC DEALERSHIPS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. MY DAUGHTER IS IN COLLEGE AND LIVES 32 MILES AWAY AND IS DRIVING WITH ONE HEADLIGHT. EVERY TIME WE PUT A NEW BULB IN IT BLOWS. WE HAVE TO PAY HER SCHOOL TUITION AND CAN NOT AFFORD ANOTHER $500-$800 TO HAVE THE MAIN HARNESS REPLACED.

SO ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 GT, THE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I DECIDED TO REPLACE BOTH LOW BEAM BULBS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGERS SIDE. THE PASSENGER SIDE HASN'T BEEN TOO BAD, IT WOULD GO OUT, BUT A TAP ON THE HEADLIGHT WOULD TURN IT BACK ON. THE DRIVERS SIDE HOWEVER, WOULD GO OUT AT ANY RANDOM TIME, THEN CUT BACK ON ALMOST IMMEDIATELY OR A FEW MINUTES LATER. I DID SEE THAT THE PLUG FOR THE LOW BEAM WAS A LITTLE MELTED, BUT DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. I DON'T KNOW IF THE CAR WAS ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE CURRENT NEEDED FOR THE BULB OR THE WIRING WAS JUST TERRIBLE.
THE DRIVERSIDE HEADLIGHT LOW BEAM CONNECTOR CONTINUOUSLY MELTS AND THE LIGHT GOES OUT. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM PER MOST ONLINE FORUMS IF YOU LOOK IT UP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN EVEN AFTER REPAIR THE PROBLEM PERSIST AND NEW WIRING HARNESS MELTS THE SAME WAY. THEIR HAS TO BE A REASON THAT SO MANY OF THESE ARE MELTING THE CONNECTORS. THERE IS NOT REASON THAT IT SHOULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITHIN A MONTH OR REPAIR.

ADVISED CMP ACTUATOR SOLENOID IS BAD, TOLD THIS CAN CAUSE THE VEHICHLE TO SHUT DOWN. THIS SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS WOULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IF ONE IS DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED SUCH AS THE EXPRESSWAY.
"TAKATA RECALL" IN MY PONTIAC G6 AFTER I HIT 100000 MILES I STARTED HAVING ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS. MY ABS LIGHT KEEP COMING ON AND OFF. MY THEFT-DETERRENT ALARMS COMES ON AND STAY ON WHILE I DRIVE. THEN IT GOES OFF STAY OFF FOR A DAY MAYBE THEN COME BACK ON. THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON THEN GOES OFF AND COME BACK ON. THE CAR PULLS FORWARD, WHICH IS SCARY. I DRIVE SLOW BECAUSE I WANT TO MAKE SURE I CAN STOP IF I HAVE TO. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP. PUT IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE THE CODES THAT WERE COMING UP CONTRADICTS WHAT THE CAR IS ACTUALLY DOING. THE MECHANIC SAID I MAY NEED A COMPUTER BUT I MAY HE REALLY DID NOT HAVE A DEFINITELY ANSWER ON WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR. THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY (VIN) BUT I BELIEVE THEIR SHOULD BE.
POWER STEERING FAILED SUDDENLY WHILE IN MOTION, AFTER 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING. DROVE STRAIGHT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE PROBLEM WAS ELECTRICAL, THAT THERE WAS ENOUGH FLUID IN THE CAR. PONTIAC SPECIAL WARRANTY COVERED POWER ASSIST MODULE TO BE REPLACED. SAME THING FAILED LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE MY WHEEL AT ALL. NO WARNING. PONTIAC WILL NOT APPROVE OF STEERING COLUMN TO BE REPLACED. I FEEL TOTALLY UNSAFE DRIVING MY CAR. BUT SHE WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY BEFORE THIS.

THEY REPLACE SOME SWITCH BUT IT DOESN'T FIX THE ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO IF THE MECHANICS CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM FOR A PERMANENT FIX. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I'VE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH NO REAL "FIX." CHECKED FOR RECALL AND HAVEN'T FOUND ONE.
WIRED CONNECTION TO FUSE BOX KEEPS BURNING UP THIS IS THE 4TH TIMES TOOK IT TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS UNKNOWN REASON FOUND. MAKES THE CAR COMPLETELY DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND NO POWER.

MORE THAN 6 REPAIRS BY MECHANICS FAILED TO SOLVE PROBLEM IN 9 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. 2ND ISSUE WITH POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL - UNKNOWN CAUSE: AFTER OWNING CAR FOR 9 YEARS, FRONT OF CAR "EXPLODED" RESULTING IN FIRE IN FRONT RIGHT QUADRANT OF CAR AND ULTIMATELY BURNING ENTIRE ENGINE, FRONT OF CAR, FRONT WINDOWS, FRONT TIRES. FIREMAN STATED CAUSE OF FIRE COULD HAVE BEEN SHORT IN ELECTRICAL WIRING TOO CLOSE TO OIL TANK. ROOT CAUSE OF EXPLOSION UNKNOWN. NO HUMAN INJURIES. CAR WAS IN MOTION LESS THAN 5 MPH PULLING INTO OWNER'S DRIVEWAY WHEN EXPLOSION OCCURRED. NO ENGINE ALERT LIGHTS WENT OFF AHEAD OF EXPLOSION. NO WARNING SYSTEM ALERTED TO ANY PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE, SENSORS, HEAT, OIL LEVELS, ETC.

I PURCHASED THE CAR IN MARCH, 2017. THE WARNING LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON. I HAVE NEVER HAD THE CAR MORE THAN A FEW DAYS AT THE TIME WITHOUT HAVING TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS TO BE DONE. THEY STILL HAVE NOT FIXED IT. I HAVE REQUESTED THAT THEY KEEP THE CAR BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND IT IS NOT FAIR FOR ME TO MAKE PAYMENTS ON A VEHICLE THAT I CANNOT DRIVE. I HAD BOUGHT THIS CAR IS 2015 AND MY HEADLIGHT PLUGS INSIDE THE ASSEMBLY HAVE NOW MELTED TWICE, I HAVE REPLACED THEM BOTH TIMES, AND HAVE KEPT THEME BOTH. IT IS ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE..I HAVE READ MULTIPLE REPORT OF THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THIS CAR, AND IT IS A FIRE HAZARD.

THE SOCKETS ARE MELTING, WHICH TO ME IS BOTH A FIRE HAZARD, AND A SAFETY HAZARD FOR NIGHT DRIVING SINCE THE LOW BEAMS DON'T WORK WITH A MELTED SOCKET. THIS ISSUE OCCURS ON BOTH SIDES. I HAVE ALSO RECEIVED A TRAFFIC VIOLATION TICKET AFTER BEING PULLED OVER, WHICH I WAS ABLE TO GET DROPPED BECAUSE I FIXED IT THE NEXT DAY. EITHER WAY, THIS IS A FIRE AND SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACING MELTING COMPONENTS A COUPLE TIMES A YEAR! THE BRAKE SENSOR GOES OUT CAUSING THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT WORK. A RECALL SAYS THAT THE BCM CAUSES FLUCTUATIONS TO THE BRAKE SENSOR ,IN TURN CAUSES THE LIGHTS NOT TO WORK. WHEN I HAD THE RECAL DONE FOR THE BCM, THE BRAKE SENSOR ALSO NEEDED WORK. THE RESULT IS 200 BUCKS WORTH OF WORK DONE THAT WASN'T RECALL COVERED. THE RECAL EVEN STATES THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR IS AFFECTED BECAUSE OF THE BCM PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR NEEDS TO BE COVERED IN THIS ISSUE. DRIVER SIDE FRONT LOW BEAM LIGHT WAS OUT AND REPLACED AT PEP BOYS IN APRIL 2016. SINCE THEN THE LIGHT WOULD WORK INTERMITTENLY. I RETURNED TO PEP BOYS AND WAS TOLD IT WAS PROBABLY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT THEY SEE 9 OUT OF 10 TIMES WITH PONTIACS. WENT TO DEALER ON 8/22/2016 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BULB CONNECTOR HAD MELTED, A PROBLEM THAT IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS CAR. I HAD TO PAY $212.17 TO REPLACE THE LOW BEAM CONNECTOR AND THE NEW HEADLAMP THAT I WAS TOLD COULD NOT BE RE-USED. I AM NOW HOPING IT DOESN'T BURN OUT AGAIN SOON OR THAT THE RIGHT SIDE DOESN'T BURN OUT TOO. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM BECAUSE I NEVER KNEW WHEN MY HEADLIGHT WOULD BE ON OR IF IT WOULD REMAIN ON DURING AN OUTING. SOMETIMES I WOULD BOARD MY CAR AND BEGIN DRIVING WITH THE LIGHT ON AND PART WAY THROUGH MY TRIP THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF LEAVING ME SUDDENLY IN THE DARK. THE BODY CONTROL MODULAR NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED/REPLACED BUT BECAUSE MY PARTICULAR CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE 2014 RECALL THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE DEALER I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR TO IS TRYING TO BLAME IT ON US BECAUSE THE CAR HAS AFTER MARKET ITEMS ON THE CAR WHICH WE DID NOT ADDTO THE CAR, WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR FROM TOYOTA ON NICHOLASVILLE SUPERSTORE THAT STUFF WAS ADDED ALREADY BY SOMEONE ELSE, AND IF THAT WAS THE PROBLEM WHY IS THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON//OFF PROBLEM JUST NOW SHOWING UP SINCE IT WAS A YEAR THIS PAST MAY THAT WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR. THE GM DEALER DOES NOT HAVE AN EXACT REPLACEMENT PART THEY JUST GIVE OUT A GENERIC WIRING HARNESS THAT THE OWNER MUST CUT AND SPLICE TOGETHER. IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE THAT A WIRING HARNESS FOR SUCH A BASIC ESSENTIAL ELEMENT OF THE CAR WOULD EVER FAIL, MUCH LESS SO SOON. THE WIRES ARE OBVIOUSLY GETTING TOO HOT AND MELTING WHICH SHOWS A COMPLETE LACK OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING THAT WENT INTO DESIGNING THE HEADLIGHT WIRING. THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND CONTACTED THE DEALER SO THE CONTACT COULD SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED IN 07/2013 WITH APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE GROUND CONNECTOR ON THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SOCKET ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS MELTED AND THE LIGHT WOULD NOT WORK. THE CONNECTION WAS CLEANED AND THE BULB WAS REPLACED. THE HEADLIGHT AGAIN WENT OUT AROUND 10/2014 WITH THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAVING ADDITIONAL MELTING AT THE BULB CONNECTOR AND CORROSION ON THE WIRES. THE HEADLIGHT SOCKET WAS REPLACED. IT STOPPED WORKING LESS THAN 1 WEEK LATER. THE HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAS BEEN MELTED AND BOTH THE SOCKET/BULB NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. *TR

NEWER VEHICLES HAVE A PROCEDURE FOR OWNERS TO INITIATE THIS SETUP THEMSELVES AND REPROGRAM THE TIRES AND KEY FOBS, BUT NOT 2008. THE LACK OF TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS WHEN THEY WERE THERE PRIOR SHOULD TRIGGER AT MINIMUM A WARNING ON EVERY START. IT CAN TELL ME I NEED AN OIL CHANGE EVERY DAY. IN AUGUST OF 2013, I NOTICED A STRONG GAS SMELL WHEN STANDING TOWARDS THE BACK END OF MY G6. THE PROBLEM WAS A BAD FUEL PUMP. MILEAGE WAS ~58,000. A FEW WEEKS LATER, MY CAR BEGAN STALLING AND THE CHARCOAL CANISTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT IS NOW MAY, 2014 AND I'VE HAD MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FUEL SYSTEM RELATED ISSUES FIVE TIMES. THEY'VE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND CHARCOAL CANISTER A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES AND THEY EVEN REPLACED THE GAS TANK DURING ROUND THREE. AFTER THE MOST RECENT REPAIRS, I GET "CHECK GAS CAP" MESSAGES ON MY RADIO CONSOLE EVERY TIME I FILL UP, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND I HAVE ACCELERATION ISSUES. I'M JUST WAITING FOR IT TO STALL ON ME AGAIN AND I PRAY IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN ON AN ON RAMP. ALL REPAIRS ARE DOCUMENTED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP. IN APRIL, BOTH LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS BEGAN WORKING SPORADICALLY AND WITHIN A WEEK, QUIT WORKING COMPLETELY. I WENT TO A SHOP CLOSE TO THE OFFICE AND PAID $50 TO HAVE BOTH LOW-BEAM BULBS REPLACED. AFTER ABOUT THREE WEEKS, THE DRIVER'S SIDE BULB WAS OUT AGAIN. I RETURNED TO THE SHOP AND THEY TOOK THE HEAD LAMP OUT AND SHOWED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE WIRING HARNESS OF THE HEAD LAMPS. THE WIRING HAD BECOME SO HOT, THE WIRE INSULATION HAD MELTED OFF AND THE WIRES ARE EXPOSED CAUSING A SHORT AND BLOWING THE BULBS. I'M NOW CONCERNED THAT THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES ARE MORE WIDESPREAD AND COULD BE CONTRIBUTING TO THE CONTINUED PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE POLICE OFFICER PULLED ME OVER BECAUSE OF THE GLARE THE HIGH BEAMS CAUSED AND ISSUED THE 3 REPAIR ORDERS. I TOOK MY CAR TO AUTOZONE WHERE THEY DID A DIAGNOSTICS CHECK ON MY VEHICLE. I RECEIVED 4 PRINTOUTS EXPLAINING THAT MY PROBLEM WAS ALL RELATED TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I HAVEN'T HAD THE REPAIRS DONE YET BECAUSE THEY WILL COST A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS AND I CANNOT AFFORD IT WITH A NEWBORN BABY AND MY RESULTING REDUCED WORK SCHEDULE. THE LOWEST ESTIMATE I RECEIVED WAS FOR 650. FURTHERMORE, THE DEALER WANTS TO PERFORM THEIR OWN DIAGNOSTICS CHECK FOR ANOTHER 130 DOLLARS. I REMOVED THE HEADLIGHT AND OBSERVED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR WAS COMPLETED BURNED WITH SMOKE COMING OUT OF IT. NOW I AM FEARFUL TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON. IT ENDED UP DRAINING MY BATTERY AND SIMULTANEOUSLY MADE THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT NOT WORK AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO FIXED THE RUNNER LIGHT ISSUE BUT TOLD ME IN ORDER TO FIX MY HEADLIGHT ISSUE I WOULD NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY BECAUSE "IT SMELLED BURNT." AFTER GOING BACK IN FORTH WITH THEM IN TRYING TO GET THEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE CAR I TOOK THE CAR HOME WITH ONE HEADLIGHT UNTIL A FEW DAYS LATER THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. THIS IS THE WORST MOST UNSAFE CAR I'VE EVER OWNED. THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT FROM TIME TO TIME THE AUTOMATIC LOCKOUT FOR THE DOORS DON'T ALWAYS WORK. THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DOESN'T LOCK OUT UNLOCK AT ALL. THERE ARE OBVIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES THE BUTTONS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ALSO OPERATES SOME SORT OF SWITCH TO KILL POWER TO THE RADIO WHEN ITS OPENED IT IS NO LONGER WORKING CORRECTLY. ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS CAR HAS A DEADLY MALFUNCTION. THE TRANS MISSION DOESN'T SHIFT CORRECTLY. I OWN A 2008 PONTIAC G6, I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKE LIGHTS. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL COME ON AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKES. WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKE, THEY SHUT OFF ONLY TO COME BACK ON IN A SHORT TIME. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ALSO AFFECTED BY THIS. CRUISE CONTROL WILL SHUT OFF WHEN BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. I HAD CHANGED THE BRAKE SWITCH THINKING THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IT DID NOTHING. I THEN BROUGHT IT IN AND HAD IT CALIBRATED. THIS SEEMED TO FIX IT, HOWEVER, NOW THE BRAKE LIGHTS CONTINUALLY STAY ON WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKE. MY TRACTION LIGHT ALSO STAYS ON AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF WHEN PRESSING THE TRACTION BUTTON. SECOND, I SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSING A SEVERE ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH. IT FELT LIKE THE STEERING POWER WAS NO LONGER WORKING. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING AND REQUIRES ONE TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN THEN MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS OR CRAWL IN AND REACH OVER, ETC. THE PROBLEM WAS GRADUAL, SOMETIMES THE LOCK FEATURE WOULD WORK, SOMETIMES NOT. NOW IT IS ALWAYS NOT WORKING. WHEN I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, I SEE THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR G6 VEHICLES. WHEN THIS OCCURS MY BRAKES ARE NOT AS RESPONSIVE, WHICH CAUSED ME TO BE INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO STOP IN TIME. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN 3 TIMES, AND SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS SO FAR ON THIS ISSUE. IT STILL ISN'T FIXED, AND NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IS GOING ON. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE STAYING ON ALL THE TIME, AS HE WAS DRIVING, BUT WOULD GO OUT, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED. ALSO, WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE REPAIR SHOP FOUND A CODE OF C0277 BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR DEFECTIVE. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR. WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS, AFTER THE REPAIR, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN, WHICH THEN RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED, AND THE PERSON IN FRONT OF HIM STOPPED SUDDENLY AND HE STATED HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP, BUT THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED AND HE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE REPAIR SHOP, TO SEE WHY THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE STAYING ON. THE REPAIR SHOP FOUND A BAD BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THEY REPLACED THE SWITCH AND RECALIBRATED THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. THEY ALSO FOUND AN INTERNAL FAULT WITHIN THE CONTROL MODULE AND REPLACED IT. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP ON 4/27/08. 4/28/08 DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED TWO BROKEN WIRES IN THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR HARNESS. THEY INDICATED THAT SOMETHING HAD SEVERED THE WIRES AND THAT THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE WIRING HARNESS. WHY WOULD TWO WIRES BE LEFT UNSHIELDED FROM THE ELEMENTS? THE DEALERSHIP VIA MY REQUEST RECEIVED AN ONE TIME CUSTOMER GOODWILL WARRANTY APPROVAL. I HAD THE MECHANIC SHOW THE AREA IN QUESTION. HE HAS REINFORCED THE WIRES WITH ELECTRICAL TAPE. IT APPEARS TO BE A GREAT REPAIR. I AM NOT SURE WHY THE MANUFACTURE DID NOT DO THIS ORIGINALLY. ERROR CODES PO722, COOOO AND PO700.
