About 6 months ago I believe I file a complaint about this same issue and here I am again. A few nights ago driving home from the movies with my kids out of nowhere my headlights go out so I had to use my fog lights to make it home. I can't understand how isn't this a safety issue and why hasn't anyone done anything about it or why isn't there a recall. What is the wait? Are we waiting for a tragedy to occur to then do something?? This is like the 3 or 4th time that it has happened. Where is the urgency on this matter?? Or will I have to make a petition with other G6 owners that also have had this issue?? Some feedback would be nice on what to do or do I have to continue to spend $$$ with 0 results. Would appreciate some response and some results.
This has been an issue that has been going on for a few years it has mostly been the driver side headlight a d o. 2 occasions both headlights have not work. On November 2023 my headlights on the driver's side would not work. Also, my turn signal didn't work at all which almost caused me an accident as I was making a turn not knowing that the turn signal was not working. I took my vehicle to Alden Buick GMC where they did inform me of issues with the headlight wiring they replaced a few wires and used a zip tie to fix it. On another occasion leaving work none of my headlights worked so I had to call my wife and have her drive in front of me so that I can make it home. Now on December I was driving on the highway at 1am and all of a sudden my headlights went off so the only thing I could do is use my fog lights and follow a car in front of me. And now here we are once again driver side Not working. Now, everyone that has a Pontiac G6 knows, the issues with the headlights and the wiring. I just don't see why it hasn't been a recall on this continuous problem or even worst, Safty issue!!
The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while her fiancé’ was driving behind her, he notified her that her rear driver’s and passenger’s side brake lights remained illuminated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the rear passenger’s and driver’s side brake light bulbs were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact then received notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number 14V252000 (Electrical system, Exterior Lighting, Vehicle Speed Control, Electrical Stability Control). Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.

The electrical harness going to the drivers door doesn't function properly in any way shape or form. My locks blow a fuse every time you hit the button my trunk pop works with my key fob but not the actual button. My passenger window only goes down if you open the door completely but then only goes up with the pass. Switch and my car radio stays on even if I shut the car off take the keys out and get out of the car... Me not being able to get windows down or trunk open in an emergency is extremely dangerous and unsafe in every way and so is the door locks not functioning properly.... I demand a safety recall be issued on the wiring harness immediately....

THE BREAK LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON. THEY ONLY TURN OFF WHEN I STOP WHICH HAS ALOMST GOTTEN ME REAR ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE FRONT LEFT HEADLIGHT CANNOT BE REPAIRED DUE TO IMPORPER WIRING AND IVE HAD IT LOOKED AT TWICE ONLY TO NOT BE ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. ALSO, WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR WILL NOT GO BELOW 3RD AND IS NOT PROPERLY SHIFTING CAUSING ACCELERATING PROBLEMS, WHEN DRIVING IN GENERAL, AND AM UNABLE TO KEEP A PROPER AMOUNT OF GAS BECAUSE ITS BURING THROUGH DUE TO THIS. I HAVE PROBLEMS WHEN DRIVING, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY, AND THE BREAKS AND HEADLIGHT ARE ALWAYS A PROBLEM WHETER DRIVING OR IN PARK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY!
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT DOES NOT STAY ON. GOING OVER A BUMP DURING DRIVING KNOCKS THE LIGHT OFF AND SHUTTING THE HOOD OR TAPPING ON THE HEADLAMP MAY TURN IT BACK ON. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS BOTH LIGHTS MAY GO OUT. WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING CONNECTOR INSIDE THE LAMP CASE COULD MELT FROM THE HEAT OF THE LIGHT BULB.

BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND GO OFF ONCE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED. THIS WAS A RECALL DONE SEVERAL YEARS AGO BUT IN 2019 WE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AFTER THE RECALL WAS PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM REPEATEDLY SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2011, AND IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND BY MECHANICS OTHER THAN THE RECALL. THE MOST RECENT REPAIR WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2019. YESTERDAY, THE PROBLEM RETURNED (IF IT HAD EVER GONE AWAY TO BEGIN WITH.) THE MECHANICS ARE TRYING THEIR BEST TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER, THE BEST I HAVE EVER GOTTEN IS ABOUT 8 MONTHS WITHOUT NOTICING ANY ISSUES. WHEN YOU BUY A CAR--NEW OR USED--YOU EXPECT THE BREAK LIGHTS TO WORK AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO WORK FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. NOBODY BUYS A CAR EXPECTING TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE UNCERTAINTY OF NOT KNOWING WHETHER YOUR CAR IS ACTUALLY ALERTING DRIVERS THAT YOU ARE STOPPING WHEN YOU ARE IN BUSY TRAFFIC.
ITS LEAKS WHEN ITS RAINS. THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. THE FRONT AND BRAKE LIGHT ARE OUT ON THE RIGHT SIDE. LEFT SIDE LOCK SWITCH DOESNT WORK. ALSO MY GEAR SWITCH SOMETIMES KEEP ME IN PARKED OR REVERSE FROM DAY TO DAY TRAVELS. I COULD GET IN THE CAR GO TO THE STORE AND MY CAR WILL NOT COME OUT OF REVERSE OR PARK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUPERIOR CHEVROLET CONWAY (1275 EXCHANGE AVE, CONWAY, AR 72032, (501) 932-5121) WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH AND FRONT WHEEL DRIVE AXLE SHAFT SEAL, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.

I NOTICED THAT MY DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WAS OUT. I PURCHASED A NEW ONE BUT UPON INSTALLATION, I NOTICED THAT THE OLD ONE DID NOT VISUALLY APPEAR TO BE BAD. I REPLACED IT ANYWAY. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE SAME ONE WAS OUT AGAIN. I CHECKED IT FOR CONNECTION PROBLEMS ETC AND IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. A FEW WEEKS LATER IT WAS OUT AGAIN. APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AGO, I WAS UNLOCKING MY DOORS WITH THE KEY FOB WHILE PARKED IN FRONT OF MY GARAGE DOOR AND NOTICED ON THE GARAGE DOOR THAT BOTH LIGHTS WERE WORKING; HOWEVER, WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR IT WENT OFF AND STAYED OFF UNTIL I UNLOCKED THE DOOR WITH THE FOB AGAIN.

SO ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 GT, THE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I DECIDED TO REPLACE BOTH LOW BEAM BULBS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGERS SIDE. THE PASSENGER SIDE HASN'T BEEN TOO BAD, IT WOULD GO OUT, BUT A TAP ON THE HEADLIGHT WOULD TURN IT BACK ON. THE DRIVERS SIDE HOWEVER, WOULD GO OUT AT ANY RANDOM TIME, THEN CUT BACK ON ALMOST IMMEDIATELY OR A FEW MINUTES LATER. I DID SEE THAT THE PLUG FOR THE LOW BEAM WAS A LITTLE MELTED, BUT DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. I DON'T KNOW IF THE CAR WAS ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE CURRENT NEEDED FOR THE BULB OR THE WIRING WAS JUST TERRIBLE.

MORE THAN 6 REPAIRS BY MECHANICS FAILED TO SOLVE PROBLEM IN 9 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. 2ND ISSUE WITH POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL - UNKNOWN CAUSE: AFTER OWNING CAR FOR 9 YEARS, FRONT OF CAR "EXPLODED" RESULTING IN FIRE IN FRONT RIGHT QUADRANT OF CAR AND ULTIMATELY BURNING ENTIRE ENGINE, FRONT OF CAR, FRONT WINDOWS, FRONT TIRES. FIREMAN STATED CAUSE OF FIRE COULD HAVE BEEN SHORT IN ELECTRICAL WIRING TOO CLOSE TO OIL TANK. ROOT CAUSE OF EXPLOSION UNKNOWN. NO HUMAN INJURIES. CAR WAS IN MOTION LESS THAN 5 MPH PULLING INTO OWNER'S DRIVEWAY WHEN EXPLOSION OCCURRED. NO ENGINE ALERT LIGHTS WENT OFF AHEAD OF EXPLOSION. NO WARNING SYSTEM ALERTED TO ANY PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE, SENSORS, HEAT, OIL LEVELS, ETC.

I HAVE A PONTIAC G6 2008 THAT ONLY HAS 83,500 MILES ON IT. THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND HAS NOT TURNED OFF. ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO THE TRACTION LIGHT TURNED ON FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS AND THAN WENT OFF . THE LAST THING THAT HAS HAPPENED IS THAT 2 WEEKS AGO THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON EVEN WHEN I AM NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE AND DO NOT TURN OFF UNLESS I TURN OFF THE CAR. AND I ALMOST FORGOT I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS CAP MY ENGINE LIGHT KEPT ON TURNING ON SO I ORDERED ANOTHER ONE DIRECTLY FROM THE DEALER AND I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. ITS LIKE NEVER ENDING.

I HAVE BEEN REPLACING THE SOCKET/HARNESS FOR MY LOW BEAMS ON BOTH SIDES FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW. THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN AUGUST OF 2011. THE SOCKETS ARE MELTING, WHICH TO ME IS BOTH A FIRE HAZARD, AND A SAFETY HAZARD FOR NIGHT DRIVING SINCE THE LOW BEAMS DON'T WORK WITH A MELTED SOCKET. THIS ISSUE OCCURS ON BOTH SIDES. I HAVE ALSO RECEIVED A TRAFFIC VIOLATION TICKET AFTER BEING PULLED OVER, WHICH I WAS ABLE TO GET DROPPED BECAUSE I FIXED IT THE NEXT DAY. EITHER WAY, THIS IS A FIRE AND SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACING MELTING COMPONENTS A COUPLE TIMES A YEAR! I ALSO AVOID USING MY FOG LIGHTS BECAUSE I THINK THIS MELTS THEM QUICKER DUE TO EXTRA CURRENT AND HEAT DRAW. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO SEVERAL LOCAL DEALERSHIPS AND AUTO SHOPS. NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM CORRECTLY. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY EVERY DAY WHEN I TRAVEL IN A BUSY DOWNTOWN AREA.

EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE A FEW MONTHS LATER WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE. REPLACED BOTH HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLIES. SIX MONTHS LATER THE SAME ISSUE REPEATED ITSELF BUT WITH BOTH LOW BEAMS AND HIGH BEAMS. BOUGHT NEW BULBS AGAIN AND THEY ONLY SURVIVED A FEW MONTHS BEFORE GOING OUT COMPLETELY. I RETURNED TO PEP BOYS AND WAS TOLD IT WAS PROBABLY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT THEY SEE 9 OUT OF 10 TIMES WITH PONTIACS. WENT TO DEALER ON 8/22/2016 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BULB CONNECTOR HAD MELTED, A PROBLEM THAT IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS CAR. I HAD TO PAY $212.17 TO REPLACE THE LOW BEAM CONNECTOR AND THE NEW HEADLAMP THAT I WAS TOLD COULD NOT BE RE-USED. I AM NOW HOPING IT DOESN'T BURN OUT AGAIN SOON OR THAT THE RIGHT SIDE DOESN'T BURN OUT TOO. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM BECAUSE I NEVER KNEW WHEN MY HEADLIGHT WOULD BE ON OR IF IT WOULD REMAIN ON DURING AN OUTING. SOMETIMES I WOULD BOARD MY CAR AND BEGIN DRIVING WITH THE LIGHT ON AND PART WAY THROUGH MY TRIP THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF LEAVING ME SUDDENLY IN THE DARK. I HAVE CHANGED MYDRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHT 3 TIMES SINCE DECEMBER, EVERYTIME IT'S CHANGED IT BLOWS WITHIN 3DAYS. ON MY ATTEMPT TO CHANGE IT TODAY 7/24/15, I NOTICED THE WIRE HARNESS IS MELTED.WHILE RESEARCHING PARTS AND COST FOR REPAIR I NOTICED A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE DRIVERSIDE HEAD LIGHT WIRE HARNESS MELTING. I WILL DEFINITELY HAVE TO GET IT REPLACED, IM SURE ITS A FIRE HAZZARD AND I WOULD HATE TO BE DRIVING AND MY CAR CATCH FIRE WITH MY BABIES AND I IN THE CAR.
I HAVE REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT 3 TIMES IN APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AND ITS OUT AGAIN. I'VE ALREADY GOTTEN A WARNING FOR DRIVING WITH IT OUT BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP REPLACING IT OR TO REPLACE WHATEVER IS CAUSING IT. I SEE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM SO WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED?
IT WAS CALLED TO MY ATTENTION AT A GAS STATION THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMPS ON MY PONTIAC G6 WERE NOT ON. I WAS TRAVELING & AWAY FROM HOME AND FELT IT NECESSARY TO SEEK REPAIRS ASAP AT A REPAIR FACILITY IN THE AREA . AFTER CONSIDERABLE EFFORT WE FOUND A REPAIR SHOP WHO RELUCTANTLY AGREED TO CHECK THE PROBLEM OUT. AFTER A CONSIDERABLE EFFORT, WELL TOO MUCH IT SEEMED, TO ACCESS THE HEADLAMP BULBS HE GAINED ACCESS AND DISCOVERED THE WIRING WAS BURNED TOO BADLY FOR REPAIRS AND INFORMED US THIS WAS A REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE DONE BY A PONTIAC DEALER.AND THERE WAS LIKELY A RECALL IN EFFECT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT CITY WE CAME TO WE ASKED FOR DIRECTIONS TO A REPAIR SHOP WHO MIGHT BE WILLING TO ATTEMPT REPAIRS. THIS SHOP SPLICED IN SOME NEW WIRING AND A NEW CONNECTOR AND THE LAMPS WERE ONCE AGAIN BURNING. HOWEVER THE REPAIR LASTED ONLY 90 DAYS AND AGAIN IT WAS FOUND TO BE BURNED WIRING. IN TALKING TO OTHER PONTIAC G6 OWNERS I HAVE DISCOVERED THIS IS 'THE NATURE OF THE BEAST" AND SOMETHING MOST OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. THIS FAILURE MAKES THIS CAR UNSAFE FOR ANYONE,,PARTICULARLY MY WIFE OR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS TO OPERATE.

WE OWN A PONTIAC G6. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AFTER WE HAD RUN A CARFAX REPORT AND IT WAS INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE SAFE FOR OUR FAMILY TO DRIVE. WE HAD A FRONT HEADLIGHT BURN OUT. (HIGH AND LOW BEAMS) WE THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD BE AN EASY FIX TO MAKE, AND WE WOULD JUST BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE HEADLIGHT BULB. IMAGINE OUR SURPRISE WHEN OUR MECHANIC FOUND OUT THAT THE ENTIRE FRONT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ELECTRICAL WIRES WERE BURNED TO A CRISP. (IT APPEARS THAT THE HEADLIGHT LIGHTING IS TOO CLOSE TO THE ACTUAL ENGINE COMPARTMENT.) THE ENTIRE REPAIR COST FOR ONE HEADLIGHT WAS $361.00 AFTER DISCOUNT. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. HAVING A RELIABLE LIGHTING SYSTEM ON A VEHICLE IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL. WE ALSO LOOKED ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE ISSUE WE WERE HAVING AND NOTICED THAT QUITE A FEW SIMILAR VEHICLE OWNERS (AT LEAST 24) HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. WHY IS THE VEHICLE MAKER NOT REQUIRED TO PLACE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE? PONTIAC'S ANSWER, ACCORDING TO OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS, IS FOR THE OWNER TO PAY THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. WE DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THAT SHOULD BE THE CASE. WE BELIEVE THAT PONTIAC SHOULD STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND CORRECT THE ENGINEERING DESIGNERS FLAWED DESIGN AND ISSUE A RECALL.

THE SECOND HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS FAILED LEAVING US WITH ONLY ONE HEADLIGHT, NOT BECAUSE THE BULB BURNED OUT BUT THE WIRING HARNESS ITSELF MELTED. GM REFUSES TO OWN UP TO THIS PROBLEM, BUT A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH FOUND THOUSANDS OF RESULTS OF PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THE GM DEALER DOES NOT HAVE AN EXACT REPLACEMENT PART THEY JUST GIVE OUT A GENERIC WIRING HARNESS THAT THE OWNER MUST CUT AND SPLICE TOGETHER. IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE THAT A WIRING HARNESS FOR SUCH A BASIC ESSENTIAL ELEMENT OF THE CAR WOULD EVER FAIL, MUCH LESS SO SOON. THE WIRES ARE OBVIOUSLY GETTING TOO HOT AND MELTING WHICH SHOWS A COMPLETE LACK OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING THAT WENT INTO DESIGNING THE HEADLIGHT WIRING. THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. OWNERS TYPICALLY DON'T KNOW THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM FOR A VERY LONG TIME AS THE HEADLIGHT WILL WORK INTERMITTENTLY ONCE THE WIRING STARTS TO DEGRADE. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED IN 07/2013 WITH APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE GROUND CONNECTOR ON THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SOCKET ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS MELTED AND THE LIGHT WOULD NOT WORK. THE CONNECTION WAS CLEANED AND THE BULB WAS REPLACED. THE HEADLIGHT AGAIN WENT OUT AROUND 10/2014 WITH THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAVING ADDITIONAL MELTING AT THE BULB CONNECTOR AND CORROSION ON THE WIRES. THE HEADLIGHT SOCKET WAS REPLACED. IT STOPPED WORKING LESS THAN 1 WEEK LATER. THE HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAS BEEN MELTED AND BOTH THE SOCKET/BULB NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. *TR

DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE OR WARRANTY EVEN WITH FULL COVERAGE WARRANTY. PAID FOR OUT OF OWN POCKET. EXTERIOR LIGHTING ALSO HAS CONDENSATION IN IT - BOTH HEAD LAMPS ASSEMBLY AND BOTH TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. DEALER STATED THIS WAS NORMAL? AN HALF INCH OF WATER SITTING IN THE BOTTOM OF THE ASSEMBLIES IS NOT NORMAL. CONDENSATION BUILD UP DUE TO THIS ISSUE HAS BLOWN BULBS OFTEN AND ALSO CORRODED BULB PLUGS (DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE EVEN UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY). THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAD MANY REPORTS OF THIS OCCURRING, BUT THERE WAS NOT A FIX FOR IT NOR WAS THERE A RECALL. PONTIAC CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I DECIDED TO BUY A BRAND NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ($200.00) AND SEE IF THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY DID THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE OLD ONE. I COULD NOT GET A REFUND BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE. I THEN DECIDED TO TRY AND REWIRE THE NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY TO SEE IF THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. I BOUGHT TWO BULB SOCKET/WIRING ASSEMBLIES FROM MY DEALER. THIS DID NOT WORK EITHER, AS THE SOCKETS/WIRING STARTED TO SMELL LIKE THEY WERE BURNING, JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. IT HAS NOW BEEN ABOUT 2 YEARS SINCE THIS STARTED HAPPENING, AND I AM STUCK WITH A CAR WITH ONE OPERATIONAL HEADLIGHT AND HAVE TO LIMIT MY NIGHT DRIVING TO VERY SHORT TRIPS. REPLACED THE H11 BULB (DRIVERS SIDE) DUE TO IT NO LONGER WORKING. INSTALLED NEW BULB AND WITH A LITTLE WIGGLING OF THE CONNECTOR GOT IT TO WORK. THRU THE WEEK THE LIGHT WOULD WORK AND THEN NOT WORK. IF YA BANGED THE HOUSING IT WOULD COME ON. TODAY (JUNE 15, 2013) I WENT TO REPLACE THE H11 BULB AND FOUND THE CONNECTOR MELTED ON ONE SIDE. THE WIRE WAS EXPOSED AND SHORTED OUT. THE DEALER SAID IT WILL NOT HURT ANYTHING AND WILL NOT REGREASE IT. ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING FOR 4 CONSECUTIVE YEARS. I HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL HEAD LAMPS, ONCE ABOUT EVERY 2 MONTHS AND WIRING HARNESS BECAUSE THEY MELT. THE POWER STEERING STARTED TO GO OUT IN NOVEMBER OF 2012 AND SEVERAL TIMES SINCE; IT LOCKS UP AND I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR A WHILE AND IT JUST MAGICALLY FIXES ITSELF. I HAD TROUBLE PUTTING MY VEHICLE IN PARK IN JANUARY 2013 AND MY KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. I LEFT IT IN FOR A FEW DAYS AND IT CAME BACK OUT. YESTERDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2013 THE AIRBAG SERVICE LIGHT HAS COME ON. WE HAVE CHECKED ALL FUSES, AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NONE OUT. I TOOK MY CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS CHARGED $162.90 FOR A NEW BRAKE SWITCH THAT WAS NOT NEEDED. UPON FINDING THE ISSUE STILL IN EXISTENCE, I CONTACTED THE SHOP TO REQUEST A REFUND, WHICH I WAS ULTIMATELY DENIED. THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH AN ISSUE WITH BRAKE LIGHTS, EVEN THOUGH THEY WITNESSED IT THEMSELVES WHILE MY CAR WAS THERE FOR MULTIPLE DAYS. UPON FINDING NO ONE WHO SEEMED TO HAVE AN IDEA HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE, I FOUND A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE OF A DEMONSTRATION TO FIX THE ISSUE, HTTP://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=N7RA7MC_TLO. I TOOK MY CAR TO A FRIEND WHO FOLLOWED THE STEPS IN THE VIDEO. MY BRAKES SEEM TO BE WORKING OK AT THIS POINT, BUT AS THE MAN IN THE VIDEO POINTS OUT, THE FIX MAY ONLY LAST FOR 8 OR SO MONTHS. OTHER THAN BEING PURELY ANNOYED, MY CONCERN IS THAT IF A DOOR WERE TO EVER ACTUALLY BE AJAR, I WOULD HAVE NO PREMISE TO PULL OVER AND CHECK. ALSO, THE WARNING NOISE DOES SOUND AT TIMES WHEN THE MESSAGE IS NOT DISPLAYING, WHICH LEADS TO DISTRACTED DRIVING AS I CHECK FOR ISSUES ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THAT ALL PASSENGERS ARE WEARING SEAT BELTS. I WAS TOLD BY SAUERS DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE LOW BEAM CONNECTORS MELTING AND THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE CONNECTORS AND BULBS REPLACED. I INFORMED GM OF THIS WHO THEN CALLED THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD SINCE MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THIS WAS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THIS PROBLEM THEY COULD NOT HELP ME WITH THIS REPAIR COST. THEN ONE DAY WHEN WALKING INSIDE TO MY HOME I NOTICED THE RUNNER LIGHTS ON THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS WERE LIT AND I COULD NOT SHUT THEM OFF. IT ENDED UP DRAINING MY BATTERY AND SIMULTANEOUSLY MADE THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT NOT WORK AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO FIXED THE RUNNER LIGHT ISSUE BUT TOLD ME IN ORDER TO FIX MY HEADLIGHT ISSUE I WOULD NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY BECAUSE "IT SMELLED BURNT." AFTER GOING BACK IN FORTH WITH THEM IN TRYING TO GET THEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE CAR I TOOK THE CAR HOME WITH ONE HEADLIGHT UNTIL A FEW DAYS LATER THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. MY HIGH BEAMS WORK BUT THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO USE AROUND TRAFFIC. SYMPTOMS INCLUDE BRAKE LAMPS ILLUMINATING WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT DEPRESSED, BRAKE LAMPS FAILING TO ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE AND GREATER THAN NORMAL BRAKE FORCE IS REQUIRED TO SHIFT VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. I OWN A 2008 PONTIAC G6 WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL, HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT PROBLEMS AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. I STILL HAVE THE FACTORY WARRANTY BUT THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE SENSOR WHICH DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND THEY DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS RELATED TO THIS RECALL AS THEY HAVE FOUND NO CORROSION IN THE WIRING CONNECTOR. I AM THEREFORE REQUESTING THAT NHTSA REQUIRE GM TO VALIDATE THE CAUSE AND EXPAND THE RECALL TO OTHER YEARS. AS NOTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE, "BRAKE LAMPS THAT ARE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY MAY NOT WARN A DRIVER IN A FOLLOWING VEHICLE OF THE BRAKING STATUS AND COULD LEAD TO A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING". THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT GM WOULD NOT RECALL ANY VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND DETERMINE OTHER CAUSES. THANK YOU. *TR

2008 PONTIAC G6. THE BRACKETS WHICH HOLD THE HEADLIGHTS TO THE CAR ARE INSUFFICIENT. THE HEADLIGHTS BOUNCE, SHAKE, AND WOBBLE OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD CAUSING REPEATED PREMATURE HEADLAMP BULB FAILURE AND SAFETY HAZARD FOR VISIBILITY REASONS ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BULBS HAVE BLOWN OUT 2 TIMES SINCE PURCHASED AS NEW IN SEPTMEBER OF 2008. DEALER STATES THERE IS NO KNOWN FIX FOR HEADLIGHT PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW ON THE SEDAN MODEL DOES NOT STAY ENTIRELY CLOSED....PUSHING THE WINDOW UP BUTTON, THE WINDOW MOVES 1/4" AFTER CLOSING. *TR
