The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while her fiancé’ was driving behind her, he notified her that her rear driver’s and passenger’s side brake lights remained illuminated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the rear passenger’s and driver’s side brake light bulbs were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact then received notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number 14V252000 (Electrical system, Exterior Lighting, Vehicle Speed Control, Electrical Stability Control). Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.

MY TRACTION CONTROL WILL GO OFF AND LIGHT UP ON THE DASH. MY BREAK LIGHTS STAY ON MIST OF THE TIME.

BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND GO OFF ONCE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED. THIS WAS A RECALL DONE SEVERAL YEARS AGO BUT IN 2019 WE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AFTER THE RECALL WAS PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM REPEATEDLY SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2011, AND IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND BY MECHANICS OTHER THAN THE RECALL. THE MOST RECENT REPAIR WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2019. YESTERDAY, THE PROBLEM RETURNED (IF IT HAD EVER GONE AWAY TO BEGIN WITH.) THE MECHANICS ARE TRYING THEIR BEST TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER, THE BEST I HAVE EVER GOTTEN IS ABOUT 8 MONTHS WITHOUT NOTICING ANY ISSUES. WHEN YOU BUY A CAR--NEW OR USED--YOU EXPECT THE BREAK LIGHTS TO WORK AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO WORK FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. NOBODY BUYS A CAR EXPECTING TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE UNCERTAINTY OF NOT KNOWING WHETHER YOUR CAR IS ACTUALLY ALERTING DRIVERS THAT YOU ARE STOPPING WHEN YOU ARE IN BUSY TRAFFIC.

IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014 MY VEHICLE (2008 PONTIAC G6) WAS INVOLVED IN A SERVER ACCIDENT WHEN I WAS ON THE I-75 INTERSTATE MERGING ONTO THE I-20 RAMP WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE UPON BRAKING AND JERKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL RESULTING IN LOSS OF ALL CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE AT THIS POINT. I HIT THE GUARDRAIL AND ONE OTHER VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED AS WELL. THE CITY OF ATLANTA IS WHERE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.

THEY REPLACE SOME SWITCH BUT IT DOESN'T FIX THE ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO IF THE MECHANICS CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM FOR A PERMANENT FIX. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I'VE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH NO REAL "FIX." CHECKED FOR RECALL AND HAVEN'T FOUND ONE.

THE BRAKE SENSOR GOES OUT CAUSING THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT WORK. A RECALL SAYS THAT THE BCM CAUSES FLUCTUATIONS TO THE BRAKE SENSOR ,IN TURN CAUSES THE LIGHTS NOT TO WORK. WHEN I HAD THE RECAL DONE FOR THE BCM, THE BRAKE SENSOR ALSO NEEDED WORK. THE RESULT IS 200 BUCKS WORTH OF WORK DONE THAT WASN'T RECALL COVERED. THE RECAL EVEN STATES THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR IS AFFECTED BECAUSE OF THE BCM PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR NEEDS TO BE COVERED IN THIS ISSUE. ALSO INCLUDE THE TRACTION CONTROL SHUTTING OFF, THAT WAS ANOTHER 200 SPENT FOR THAT. TAKE A GOOD GUESS WHAT WAS THE RESULT OF THAT ISSUE. SPOILER ALERT IT WAS THE BCM!!

I AM SO AGGRAVATED WITH THE PONTIAC COMPANY, I FILED A RECENT COMPLAINT OVER THE PHONE. THE BODY CONTROL MODULAR NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED/REPLACED BUT BECAUSE MY PARTICULAR CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE 2014 RECALL THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE DEALER I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR TO IS TRYING TO BLAME IT ON US BECAUSE THE CAR HAS AFTER MARKET ITEMS ON THE CAR WHICH WE DID NOT ADDTO THE CAR, WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR FROM TOYOTA ON NICHOLASVILLE SUPERSTORE THAT STUFF WAS ADDED ALREADY BY SOMEONE ELSE, AND IF THAT WAS THE PROBLEM WHY IS THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON//OFF PROBLEM JUST NOW SHOWING UP SINCE IT WAS A YEAR THIS PAST MAY THAT WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR. I THINK THAT THE PONTIAC COMPANY JUST DOESN'T WANT TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM AND WE ARE STUCK WITH A CAR THAT HAS BRAKE LIGHT ISSUES THAT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAMGUNG PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE AND I HAVE NO WAY TO PAY FOR IT TO BE FIXED.

I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH ABOUT 114000 MILES ON IT. THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON BUT NO INDICATION AS TO WHY IT IS ON. IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT ACCORDING TO REPORTS. I HAD SERVICE COMPLETE THE 2 OUTSTANDING RECALLS ON THE CAR. I ALSO REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES ONLY TO TAKE IT BACK A WEEK LATER AND REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE CALIPER ALSO. THE OTHER DAY WHILE DRIVING HOME, I EXPERIENCED VIBRATING IN MY BRAKES WHEN BRAKING. AT THAT TIME NO ABS LIGHT CAME ON OR TC CONTROL LIGHTS, HOWEVER WHEN HUBBY WAS GETTING READY TO TEST DRIVE IT, THE ABS LIGHT AND BOTH TC LIGHTS CAME ON AND HAVE STAYED ON. BRAKES ARE WORKING FINE AT THE MOMENT, I TOOK IT TO A SERVICE CENTER AND CHECKED FOR ADDITIONAL RECALLS (BECAUSE I READ ABOUT ONE ON THIS ISSUE SOMEWHERE THE OTHER DAY WHEN SEARCHING) BUT THEY ASSURED ME THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR SUCH AN ISSUE WITH MY VIN. THE CAR CURRENTLY ONLY HAS 123,000 MILES ON IT. MY NEXT STEP I GUESS IS TO TAKE IT TO ADVANCE AUTO FOR A SCAN AND SEE IF ANYTHING SHOWS UP :( I DO A LOT OF TRAVELLING SO I NEED A DEPENDABLE/RELIABLE/SAFE VEHICLE. I LOVE THE CAR BUT I DON'T LOVE ALL THE BRAKE ISSUES AND NOT KNOWING WHY THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE PUT NEARLY $1000 INTO MY CAR IN JUST A MATTER OF MONTHS DUE TO BREAKS AND EXHAUST SYSTEM.

I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI LAST NIGHT AS THE BRAKE LAMPS WERE NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY. DEALER CLOSED OUT THE CASE AS REPAIRED - GM RECALL LINE WILL DO NOTHING AND WANT ME TO PAY $120 AN HOUR TO HAVE THE CAR PUT ONTO DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE - I REFUSE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ANYMORE EXPENSES - I'VE PAID OVER $500 ALREADY BEFORE RECALL WAS EXTENDED TO 2008 MODELS. I WORK AT A GM POWERTRAIN PLANT, THIS TYPE OF REPAIR IS UNACCEPTABLE TO MY STANDARDS OF WHAT MANAGEMENT TELLS US QUALITY IS TO GM. PLEASE INVESTIGATE FURTHER THEIR FIX WAS A JUMP HARNESS AND RE-GREASING OF THE BCM - THAT IS NOT THE FIX THE REAL ISSUE IS THE BCM'S ARE BAD AND NEED TO BE REPLACED MY GM REFERENCE ID FOR THIS ISSUE IS 8-2214129861. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR AT NIGHT WITH NO WORKING BRAKE LIGHTS. ISSUE HAPPENS WHILE IDLING, CITY DRIVING, AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. TRACTION CONTROL AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON ALONG WITH SCROLLING ON CAR SCREEN TO SERVICE TRACTION SERVICE ESC. ONE SERVICE GUY MENTIONED "OUTER EDGE WEAR" ON THEM, BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER, AFTER LOOKING AT THE REMAINING WARRANTY/MILES LEFT, SAID THAT THE TIRES WERE SUPPOSED TO WEAR LIKE THEY WERE. THE TIRES WERE 4 YRS OLD & HAD @ 60,000MI. ON THEM.

THE CAR SLID SIDEWAYS TO THE LEFT MID TURN AND LEFT US COMPLETELY SIDEWAYS ACROSS BOTH LANES. I WAS IN A PANIC AS IT HAPPENED SO FAST, BEFORE I COULD REACT A LARGE TRUCK ROUNDED THE CORNER COMING UP THE HILL, HE QUICKLY HIT HIS BREAK AND VEERED TOWARD THE DITCH, LUCKILY HE WAS ABLE TO STOP ABOUT 3 FOOT FROM THE SIDE OF OUR CAR. HIS PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE WENT OFF THE ROAD IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP BEFORE HITTING US. AFTER TAKING A DEEP BREATH AND PRAISING THE LORD FOR SPARING OUR LIVES I QUICKLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, THEN IMMEDIATELY TURNED IT BACK ON AND NOTICED THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING HAD TURNED OFF. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUSHED, THE BRAKE LIGHT DID NOT GO ON. I REPEATED THE SAME ACTION 3 TIMES AND THEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS BEGAN TO WORK PROPERLY. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM DATED JULY 2014 APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AGO. THE HEADING OF THE LETTER STATES, "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL." UPON RECEIPT OF THE LETTER, I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT RECALL 13036. ALTHOUGH THE LETTER PLAINLY STATES THAT MY CAR IS RECALLED, THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED I MUST WAIT UNTIL THEY HAD THE INFORMATION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAD NOT BEEN AN ISSUE AT THE TIME, AND I WAS WILLING TO WAIT. HOWEVER, I HAD EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGING, AND I TURNED IT OFF, AND DID NOT USE IT AGAIN, AS I FOUND THAT TO BE AN EASILY REMEDIED PATCH. THE RECALL INCLUDES THE BODY CONTROL MODULE, WHICH AFFECTS BOTH THE CRUISE CONTROL AND MY BRAKES. I CALLED GM TODAY AND THEY GOT IN TOUCH WITH A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO GAVE ME A RENTAL CAR TO USE TODAY UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. UPON RETURNING HOME, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP ADVISING GM MAY NOT PAY FOR THE RENTAL. GM IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I BOUGHT MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 NEW WITH 3 MILES ON IT. FOR THE FIRST 30,000 MILES I HAD ZERO ISSUES WITH THE CAR. SINCE THEN IT HAS HAD PROBLEMS. THE FIRST WAS THE STEERING COLUMN, WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT THE WHEEL BEGAN TO TURN ITSELF. STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND SO I PULLED OVER AND USED MY CELL TO RECORD THE MOVEMENT IT WAS MAKING ON ITS OWN. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED A COMPUTER MODULE IN THE STEERING COLUMN.( AFTER SHOWING THE VIDEO TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND THREATENING TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL NEWS NETWORK) SOON AFTER THE POPPING BEGAN IN THE COLUMN WHILE TURNING. THE MODULE WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE "LUBE KIT" FOR THE POPPING IN THE COLUMN HAD TO BE OUT OF MY WALLET TO FIX. ( OH HOW I LOVE THE ASS HATS AT GM ). STILL HAVE POPPING WHEN TURNING. THEN CAME THE RANDOMNESS TO THE HEADLIGHTS WORKING. ( OR NOT WORKING ) REPLACED BULBS IN LOW BEAM ( BOTH SIDES ) SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE NOTICED CORROSION IN CONNECTORS. NOW THE BRAKE LIGHT ARE CONSTANTLY ON. THE LIGHTS BEING ON CAUSES THE CRUISE CONTROL TO NOT WORK OR SHUT OFF WHEN LIGHTS ACTIVATE ON THEIR OWN. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED MY REAR PASSENGER CALIPER IS STICKING AND EATING PADS, IM ON CALIPER NUMBER 3 AS OF TODAY WITH COUNTLESS PADS AND ZERO HELP FROM GM WITHOUT HAVING TO FORK OVER LOTS OF MONEY TO FIX A CAR (THAT OBVIOUSLY BY THE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS) WAS HORRIBLY BUILT. I TOOK MY CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS CHARGED $162.90 FOR A NEW BRAKE SWITCH THAT WAS NOT NEEDED. UPON FINDING THE ISSUE STILL IN EXISTENCE, I CONTACTED THE SHOP TO REQUEST A REFUND, WHICH I WAS ULTIMATELY DENIED. THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH AN ISSUE WITH BRAKE LIGHTS, EVEN THOUGH THEY WITNESSED IT THEMSELVES WHILE MY CAR WAS THERE FOR MULTIPLE DAYS. BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHEN BRAKES NOT APPLIED, TURNED OFF WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED (ACCORDING TO FAMILY MEMBER WHO WAS DRIVING BEHIND ME). PROBLEM SEEMED TO RESOLVE ITSELF, BUT HAS RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR. WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED, BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF FOR ~5-10 SECONDS BEFORE COMING BACK ON. OCCURRED AGAIN THIS MORNING - ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE BY DISCONNECTING NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL AND RECONNECTING AFTER ~15 MINUTES TO SEE IF THE SYSTEM WOULD RESET ITSELF, BUT IT DID NOT. INCIDENTS SEEM RANDOM - HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY A COMMON THREAD (SUCH AS HARD BRAKING, VEHICLE MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES, WEATHER, OTHER LIGHTING ISSUES, ETC). *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO EXHIBIT AN ABNORMALLY LOUD NOISE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BRAKE PAD WAS MISSING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH FRONT CALIPERS WERE DEFECTIVE AND AS A RESULT, THE BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER DRIVING EVERY 1,000 MILES. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS TWO DIFFERENT TIMES.
