My brake lights are malfunctioning. It has not worked correctly in years. When you press on the brake, the brake lights turn itself off. When not pressing on the brake, my brake lights are on. I reached out to the GM dealership and I told them that the recall was fixed, but the issue is ongoing and poses extreme safety issues. I have gotten pulled over for this. No lights are on my dashboard. I have owned the car since the beginning of COVID and the issue has happened since.

THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS HEAD AND SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE EMERGENCY ROOM, WHERE HE HAD 15 STITCHES INSIDE AND 10 STITCHES OUTSIDE OF HIS HEAD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE A 2009 PONTIAC G6 GT 4D. IT IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED TO MY GIRLFRIEND VIN#[XXX]. DUE TO THE ELECTRICAL AND TECHNICAL PROBLEMS THIS CAR HAS GIVEN USE SO MUCH PROBLEMS. ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. WELL IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC LIGHT TURN ON AND I HAVE NOTES THAT THE BACK BRAKES WILL NOT TURN ON UNLESS MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME TO BE DRIVING ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN. I'VE HAD CARS COME FROM AROUND US AND TELL US TO TURN ON THE LIGHTS IT QUIT EMBARRASSING. THEY SOMETIMES COME ON WHEN I AM NOT BRAKING AND SOMETIMES DO NOT LIGHT UP WHEN I AM BRAKING. I CLEARLY HAVE THE PROBLEM NOTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. I AM NOW TRYING TO FIND THE NOTICE THAT CAME IN THE MAIL. I HAVE MISPLACED IT, UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME. A FRIEND FOLLOWING ME 09-21-2016 NOTICED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON CONSTANTLY. DRIVING HOME THAT NIGHT I COULD TELL THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYED ON, UNLESS I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE AND THEY WOULD GO OFF. ALSO CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW FOR 09-27-2016. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED CAR WITH A BAD BRAKE SWITCH. CAR WAS REPAIRED AND PICKED UP ON 09-30-2016 (BRAKE SWITCH REPLACED) COST 194.81. DROVE THE CAR ON A 300 MILE TRIP ON 10-13-2016. TRACTION WARNING LIGHT WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY AND WHEN THE LIGHT WAS ON CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. ALSO CHECKED ON BRAKE LIGHTS AND NOW THEY STAY CONSTANTLY. NOTICED ON 11/09/15 IN PM THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND DO NOT CHANGE WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. A SERVICE TRACTION CAME ON 11/10/15 AND AGAIN ON 11/17/15. I HAVE NOT HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO DRIVE BEHIND THE VEHICLE WHILE THIS SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE TAKEN A PICTURE OF THE SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT TWICE SHOWING THE MILEAGE AND TIME. MY G6 WAS RECALLED LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM WITH THE BCM. THE PROBLEM CAUSED LOSS OF TRACTION CONTROL, CRUISE CONTROL AND THE LIGHTS TO MALFUNCTION. SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS FIXED, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES. A SWITCH WAS REPLACED A FEW WEEKS AGO AND THIS TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THE BCM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND WILL COST $800. THE REASON FOR THE RECALL WAS "INCREASED RESISTANCE IN THE BMC MAY RESULT IN VOLTAGE FLUCTUATIONS". I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE REPLACING THE BCM. IT IS VERY SCARY AND UPSETTING WHEN THE "SERVICE TRACTION" WARNING APPEARS WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT AND NOT KNOWING IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON OR NOT.

I FINALLY TODAY HAD TO GET MY ENTIRE BCM MODULE REPLACED, AND A VERY HIGH COST! I THINK THAT THE RECALL SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THESE ENTIRELY, BECAUSE, OBVIOUSLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO FIX THE "RECALL" IS NOT WORKING!

UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE EXPERIENCED ABOUT ALL OF THE ISSUES THAT ARE BEING COMPLAINED ABOUT ON HERE. THE LIGHT CONNECTORS MELTING AND BLOWING THE HEADLIGHTS, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MESSING UP AND FRYING 7 BRAINS, THE BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, THE STEERING ACTING FUNNY JUST TO NAME A FEW, AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES SINCE 2010 TO HAVE THESE ISSUES WORKED ON, I CONTINUE TO HAVE THE PROBLEMS. I THINK THAT IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT CAR MANUFACTURING COMPANIES ARE ALLOWED TO LET THESE VEHICLES STAY ON THE ROAD WITHOUT DOING RECALLS ON THESE DANGEROUS AND POSSIBLY FATAL PROBLEMS. WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON SO I WENT BACK AND PRESSED THE BRAKES THEN THEY TURNED OFF. I STARTED DRIVING AGAIN BUT SOON AS I TURNED ON THE CRUISE CONTROL IT COMES ON BUT TURNS RIGHT BACK OFF. BUT IF I HIT THE BRAKES THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL WORK AGAIN FOR A SECOND THEN TURNS RIGHT BACK OFF THAT'S WHEN I REALIZED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN I DRIVE BUT WHEN I HIT THE BREAKS THEY TURN OFF. IM ONLY WRITING THIS BECAUSE MY CAR DOESN'T HAVE 100,000 MILES YET AND I SAW THAT YOUR COMPANY STARTED AN INVESTIGATION REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I HAD SOMEONE FOLLOWING ME HOME THE OTHER DAY AND WHEN WE ARRIVED THEY ASKED ME WHY I KEPT PUTTING ON MY BRAKES AND LETTING OFF. I WAS NOT TOUCHING THE BRAKES. WE CRANKED UP THE CAR AND STOOD BEHIND IT AND WATCHED AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF WITHOUT ANYONE EVEN SITTING IN THE CAR. I GOT IN AND STARTED PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WHEN I PRESSED THE PEDAL THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF. WHEN I LET OFF OF THE PEDAL THE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON. THAT'S WHEN I STARTED SEARCHING THIS ISSUE AND FOUND ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR G6'S. IN MY OPINION AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR AND IT MAKES ME EXTREMELY WORRIED THAT SOMETHING COULD HAPPEN. I WAS PULLED OVER BY A POLICE OFFICE FOR SUSPECTED I WAS DRUNK DRIVING. HE SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF MY ERRATIC BRAKE LIGHTS. WHILE DRIVING, CRUISE CONTROL WILL DISENGAGE AND BRAKE LIGHTS WILL FLAIR ON. THAN WHEN TAP BRAKES, BRAKE LIGHTS WILL SHUT OFF. WITHIN A COUPLE SECONDS, THEY WILL TURN BACK ON. WHEN ACTUALLY GOING TO PRESS ON THE BRAKES, HAVE NO BRAKE LIGHTS THAN. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WITHOUT USING CRUISE CONTROL, JUST DRIVING IN GENERAL. BREAK LIGHTS WILL COME ON, THAN WHEN PRESS ON THE BRAKE, THEY SHUT OFF. COUPLE SECONDS LATER, COME BACK ON. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT TIME(OR DURING THE DAYTIME), NOT HAVING BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN STOPPING. DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR.
