**THIS IS NOT A STANDARD 2003 PONTIAC, SINGLE OWNER CURRENT MILEAGE OF 70,000** UPON VEHICLE REACHING OPERATING TEMPERATURE IT EXHIBITS THE SYMPTOMS OF RECALL #04092 124/ ACCELERATOR PEDAL ARM.FAILURE RESULTS IN LOSS OF RPM AND SPEED CONTROL.THIS ITEM WAS ADDRESSED ON 1-11-2004 BY APPROVED DEALER. CAR LAST FAILURE OCCURRENCE WAS ON 1/12/2020. THIS VEHICLE WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN RECALL#14350 IGNITION SWITCH. WHEN FAILURE OCCURS LOSS OF POWER,SPEED,AIR BAGS,ECT.. INITIAL RECALL REPAIR WAS ON 3-07-2014. AT THAT TIME A NEW KEY WAS CUT TO RESOLVE ISSUE. FAILURE HAS REOCCURED, LAST TIME BEING 12-23-19 WHILE DRIVING MID DAY NO EXCESSIVE TEMP OR DRIVING CONDITIONS.

MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY WIFE'S 2003 PONTIAC GRAND AM AND THE ACCELERATOR STUCK, ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED, IT NOW FAILS TO RETURN TO THE IDLE POSITION, REQUIRING ONE TO PHYSICALLY PULL THE PEDAL BACK UP. AFTER THE NEAR ACCIDENT, MY DAUGHTER DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR STICKING ACCELERATOR ON THE 2003 PONTIAC GRAND AM, BUT WE HAVE NEVER BEEN CONTACTED ABOUT THE RECALL. I CALLED PONTIAC ON THE TOLL FREE NUMBER LISTED ON THE RECALL NOTICE ON YOUR SITE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD DO NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER ASKING TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR SEVERAL TIMES, I WAS FINALLY CONNECTED TO THE SUPERVISOR WHO ALSO SAID THEY WOULD DO NOTHING. I TOLD HER THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL AND SHE SAID THERE WASN'T A RECALL FOR THE ACCELERATOR ON A 2003 GRAND AM. I GAVE HER THE RECALL NUMBER AND SHE SAID SHE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING ON THAT RECALL, AND THAT THE CAR WAS TOO OLD SO PONTIAC WASN'T GOING TO PAY ANYTHING TO HAVE IT FIXED. SHE SAID I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF AND IF THEY EVER DID ISSUE A RECALL AND I KEPT THE RECEIPTS, THEY WOULD ISSUE A REFUND. THE CAR IS NOW TOTALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THERE ARE MANY MORE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MODEL CAR WHOSE LIVES MAY WELL BE IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. *TR

MY CAR HAS AN IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. IN SAID RECALL IT DESCRIBES THAT IN THE EVENT OF IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE MY AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN IN MY CAR 99% OF THE TIME AND THIS MAKES ME EXTREMELY NERVOUS. I CALLED A NUMBER TO GET A RENTAL CAR UNTIL MINE CAN BE FIXED DUE TO THE FACT NO DEALER HAS THE PARTS AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL BE. I HAVE A 2003 PONTIAC GRANDAM AND IT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH LEAKING COOLANT AND I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT MY INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET IS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AND ALSO LEARNED FROM THE MECHANIC THAT I TOOK IT TO THAT THIS MODEL OF CAR IS INFAMOUS FOR HAVING THAT PROBLEM AND HIS DOES SEVERAL REPAIRS OF THE SAME TYPE OF CAR FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS EVERY MONTH AND I THINK THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE GM MANUFACTURERS BECAUSE THEY PUT A FAULTY PART ON THIS TYPE OF CAR AND IT IS GOING BAD AND COULD SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSE THE HEAD GASKETS TO BLOW ON THE CAR IF IT IS NOT REPAIRED AND ALSO I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ACCELERATOR AND WHEN I CALLED ABOUT A RECALL THEY TOLD ME THAT FOR MY VIN ON MY CAR THEIR WAS CURRENTLY NO RECALLS WHICH IS A BUNCH OF BULL BECAUSE MY CAR IS ALSO HAVING THAT PROBLEM MY ACCELERATOR IS STICKING AND THE CAR KEEPS GOING EVEN WHEN I AM NOT PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL AND IT IS REALLY SCARY SOMETIMES BUT IT DOESN'T DO IT EVERY TIME I START THE CAR ITS JUST UNPREDICTABLE AND HAPPENS OUT OF THE BLUE. *TR

WHEN THE INITIAL RECALL WAS DELIVERED I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A GM DEALERSHIP IN KENDALLVILLE INDIANA. THEY INSPECTED THE DEVICE, AND AT THAT TIME STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND NO PARTS WERE REPLACED. I AM CURRENTLY LIVING IN VIRGINIA AND HAVE FOUND IN HOT, AMBIENT CONDITIONS, (IN THE AFTERNOON AND ALMOST DAILY), MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKING, FAILING TO RETURN TO THE NORMAL IDLE POSITION. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A GM DEALERSHIP IN HARRISONBURG VA TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND THEY ADVISED A NEW PEDAL ASSEMBLY WOULD BE NEEDED ALTHOUGH THEY ARE UNWILLING TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY ISSUE UNDER THE RECALL # 04092 SINCE THE INITIAL INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED IN INDIANA. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP IN INDIANA THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON OCTOBER 19, 2005 WHICH IS NOT DURING THE HOT AND AMBIENT WEATHER THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SAFETY CONCERN. 2003 PONTIAC GRAND AM WITH SEVERAL PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE TURN SIGNAL. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON HIS VEHICLE. THEN EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET. *KB THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THERE WAS OIL IN THE COOLANT RECOVERY TANK, WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, VALVE COVER GASKETS, THERMOSTAT AND COOLANT. *JB THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT ENGAGE PROPERLY AND THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TURN SIGNAL FLASHER.

ON HOT DAYS AFTER MY VEHICLE SITS IN THE SUN, THE GAS PEDAL STICKS. ON ONE DAY MY CAR WAS IN PARK RUNNING AT 7000 RPM'S. I CALLED TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS THAT TOLD ME THIS WAS NOT POSSIBLE AND MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE THIRD DEALERSHIP FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGED I WAS NOT SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER STAYED LATE TO WAIT FOR ME (WITH A MECHANIC) TO LOOK AT MY CAR. ONCE THEY LOOKED AT MY CAR IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM.*JB

DT: THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY ALTHOUGH THE CONSUMER DIDN'T TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THERE WAS A RUBBER BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 0-6 RPMS IN LESS THAN 3 SECONDS, IT WENT TO 60 MPH. CONSUMER HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKE AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PUT IT INTO PARK. THE CONSUMER HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER ON 7-27-05, WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE VEHICLE. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEY DID SAY THAT THE OIL FILTER WAS DIRTY AND THAT IT HAD TO BE CHANGED. THE CONSUMER STATES THAT IT WAS CHANGED AT THE END OF JUNE. THEY CHANGED THREE FILTERS AND THE PCV. THE CONSUMER PICKED THE VEHICLE UP ON 8-3-05. SHE ONLY DROVE IT HOME AND PARKED IT. SHE FELT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *AK A RECALL ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ISSUED BACK ON NOV. 2004. THE MANUFACTURER CLAIMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AT 32328 MILES AND IT WAS DETERMINE AT THAT TIME THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT APPLICABLE. *NM

DT: THE VEHICLE IS A 2003 PONTIAC GRAND AIM GT. WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. IT WAS LIKE THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK THE CONSUMER PUT IT IN PARK TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM GOING ANY FASTER. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN PARK. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON 3 SEPARATE OCASSIONS. THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 40-60 MPH WHEN EACH EVENT OCCURRED. WHEN THE CONSUMER WENT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS THEY TOLD HER THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CODE. THE CONSUMER FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL NUMBER NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. NO. 04V528000; GM RECALL NO. 04092. WHEN SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER THEY TOLD HER THAT HER VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. SHE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THEM COMPLAINT NUMBER 1-351-1304107. AS OF NOW THIS IS THE ONLY KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS AS OF YET. *JB

DURING AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER ALSO INDICATED THAT THE BRAKES FELT CHOPPY. *NBF THE CONSUMER WAS INJURED. *TC *TT *SC THE CONSUMER SENT IN A FOLLOW UP LETTER INCLUDING A POLICE NARRATIVE THAT EXPLAINED THAT THE CONSUMER WAS SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL, WENT ACROSS AN EXIT AND STRUCK A LIGHT POLE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY EDGE WHILE IT WAS RAINING. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT DURING THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE AND THE ACCELERATOR WAS STICKING DURING THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO GET BACK TO HIM IN REFERENCE TO THE FINDINGS OF THE ONGOING INVESTIGATION. *TC *BF THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A LISTING OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE PONTIAC GRAND AM 2003. *SC

May 5, 2005 Crash

I HAVE A PONTIAC GRAND AM 2003 MODEL. THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR FOR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND I HAD MY CAR FIXED. I HAD THE RECALL FIXED AND ABOUT A WEEK LATER I HAD A CAR ACCIDENT IN WHICH MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP DUE TO THE THE ACCELERATOR CONTIUING TO ACCELERATE AND MY BRAKE NOT ALLOWING ME TO STOP. MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, MY WIND SHIELD SHATTERED, MY FRONT LEFT TIRE BLEW, EVERYTHING UNDER NEATH MY CAR WAS DAMAGED. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS HURT BUT I HAVE HAD A CLAIM WITH GM AND I WAS TOLD YESTERDAY THAT THEY ARE DENYING MY CLAIM. WHEN I WAS ASKED TO SEE THE REPORT THEY REFUSED SAYING IT WAS PROPERTY OF GM AND I DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO SEE IT. TO ME I FEEL THAT I DO CONSIDERING THAT IT IS THERE FAULT THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS AND I FEEL I SHOULD HAVE SOME PROOF ON THERE REASONING FOR SAYING THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO COVER THE DAMAGES AND TO MAKE SURE IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. FOR ALL OF THE PEOPLE WITH 2003 GRAND AM BE CAREFUL AND MAKE SURE THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO YOU BECAUSE IT MAY BE WORSE THE NEXT TIME FOR SOMEONE ELSE.

WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES THE ENGINE COMMENCED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONSUMER HAD TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL TO GAIN CONTROL. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. *AK *SC *JB

NHTSA 04V528000 ON THE FMVSSS 124 ACCELERATOR PEDAL ARM. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE MECHANIC CLAIMS THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS NOT DEFECTIVE. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS IN WARM WEATHER ONLY. *JB

CONSUMER SAID THAT THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING VERY HIGH ON ITS OWN EVEN WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, VEHICLE WILL STILL TAKE OFF. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES THIS WEEK. OWNER HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. OWNER SAID THAT SHE DOESN'T WANT THE CAR BACK. CONSUMER IS VERY PARANOID OF THE VEHICLE'S ABILITY TO PERFORM PROPERLY. *LA THE IDLE HAD BEEN RUNNING HIGHER EVEN AFTER TWO REPAIR ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN THE SHOP AS OF 06/15/2004. 2003 GRAND AM GT PURCHASED IN MAY 2003. CAR WILL ACCELERATE FROM IDLE SPEED OF 4-6MPH TO 15 MPH WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR CAUSING THE CAR TO JUMP FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. STARTED TO OCCUR AT 1500 MILES, NOW 3600 MILES ON THE CAR, HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. ALSO WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS AT SPEEDS FROM 50MPH, ACCELERATOR DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT RESULTING CHANGE EVIDENCED BY INCREASE IN RPM OR SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO DANGEROUS. AS OF TODAY, THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND ARE SEEKING ADVICE FROM PONTIAC. *AK
