TAKATA RECALL / MY CAR HAD A GM RECALL 15757. IT INVOLVED THE REPLACEMENT OF MY ENGINE FRONT VALVE COVER AND FRONT VALVE COVER GASKET. I TOOK IT TO THE GATEWAY BUICK GMC ON 3/5/2016. AFTER THE JOB WAS FINISHED I FOUND OUT MY ENGINE PLASTIC BEAUTY COVER WAS MISSING. I WAS TOLD IT DIDNT FIT BECAUSE OF THE NEW PARTS. IT IS UNEXCEPTABLE THAT MY ENGINE IS LEFT EXPOSED AND THERE WASNT A NEWLY DESIGNED PLASTIC BEAUTY COVER. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE RESULT. PLUS, MY CAR IS NOW MISFIRING AND BEFORE I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE AND NOT MISFIRING. MY SPARK PLUG WIRES WERE LOOSE AND EASILY DETACHED FROM THE CONNECTION WHERE THE SPARK PLUG CONNECTS AS IF IT WAS PULLED CARELESSLY. I REGRET TAKING MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL. MY CAR SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS PERIOD AFTER SERVICE.

W AS DRIVING CAR AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. FIRE STARTED UNDERNEATH NEAR THE MANIFOLD AND IT BURNT ALL THE WIRING AND EVERYTHING AROUND IT. I GOT THE FIRE OUT MYSELF WITH FIRE EXTENGISHER. AFTER OWNING THIS VEHICLE FOR A VERY SHORT TIME, IT HAD SOME MINOR BODY WORK DONE AND COMPLETELY REPAINTED. I HAD NEW HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS INSTALLED DUE TO THE POOR CONDITION OF THE EXISTING LIGHTS. THE SECOND DAY I DROVE THE CAR TO WORK, I RETURNED HOME, PARKED IT IN THE ATTACHED GARAGE AND WENT INSIDE. IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES, THERE WAS A LOUD "POP", AND UPON INVESTIGATION THE CAR WAS FOUND TO BE SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WE TRIED USING A FIRE EXTINGUISHER, BUT THE ENGINE WAS FLAMING BY THEN, SO IT WAS USELESS. LUCKILY, A PASSERBY STOPPED AND WAS ABLE TO PULL THE BURNING CAR FROM THE GARAGE, BUT NOT BEFORE THERE WAS SOME SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY BURNED AND MELTED. IT IS A COMPLETE LOSS WHICH IS UNFORTUNATE SINCE I ONLY CARRIED LIABILITY INSURANCE ON IT UNTIL IT WAS COMPLETELY FINISHED IN THE BODY SHOP. SINCE THIS FIRE, I HAVE BEEN CHECKING ON RECALLS CONCERNING ANY RELATED PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL THAT ARE SIMILAR TO THIS SITUATION.
