While applying the brakes the car down shifts hard, locking up and jerking. Many others had reported this problem in online forums. Stating a power train or module issue. Very dangerous not knowing if your car my jerk into someone or something out of your control.
MY CAR LURCHES OR DOWNSHIFT WHILE NORMAL DRIVING. THIS CAUSES IT HARD TO CONTROL. PREVIOUS RECALLS ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAVE BEEN FOR POWER TRAIN. HOWEVER MY VIN #DOESN'T QUALIFY. THIS IS A MISTAKE. I WAS HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING WHEN IT OCCURRED. NORMAL

AS I BEGAN TO BRAKE TO COME TO A STOP, MY CAR JERKED REALLY HARD. AT FIRST I WONDERED IF MY BRAKES WERE NOT APPLYING. THIS HAPPENED MAYBE ONCE OR TWICE MORE THAT DAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND HAD NEW BRAKES INSTALLED. BUT I TOLD THEM THE ISSUE THAT I WAS HAVING. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO BE GETTING WORSE SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THEY GAVE ME A LAUNDRY LIST OF ISSUES TOTALING IN THE EXCESS OF $1,800.00. NONE OF THE ISSUES SPECIFICALLY ADDRESSED WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. THE JERKING HAS GOTTEN WORSE. I SOUGHT OUT THE PONTIAC SOLSTICE FORUM AND FOUND THAT THE POWER TRAIN PINION ISSUE (RECALL # 07204) IS EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH GM BUT THEY ARE SAYING THAT I WILL NEED TO PAY TO HAVE THE CAR DIAGNOSED TO SEE IF THIS ISSUE IS A RECALL ISSUE AND THAT THE CAR IS PAST THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND I MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 2 YEARS AGO. I AM PAYING A MONTHLY NOTE. A POWERTRAIN ISSUE IS LIABLE TO BE VERY EXPENSIVE. FURTHERMORE IN READING ABOUT THIS RECALL, I AM ALMOST AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. FURTHERMORE, APPARENTLY THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPAIRED ON THE VEHICLE BEFORE...IN 2008. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE STARTED TO OCCUR AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14E021000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,500.

IT SETS MANY CODES TCM ETC. I HAD THE TCM REPLACED AND SYNCED AT DEALERSHIP BUT THE CAR IS STILL DOING IT. THE CODE NOW READS THAT "COMMUNICATION TO THE TCM IS LOST" I WAS TOLD BY GM WHEN SPEAKING TO THEM ABOUT THE LATEST RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT THEY SAID IT COULD BE RELATED BECAUSE THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL AFFECTS THE CAR SHUTTING OFF, ROLLING AWAY AND THE AIRBAG INOPERATIVE LIGHT. MANY OTHER PONTIAC SOLSTICE OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND IS GOING TO CAUSE ACCIDENTS IF NOT FIXED. PLEASE HELP. *TR

I CONTACTED PONTIAC CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE TO REPORT THE ACCIDENT. GM SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO REVIEW THE CAR. HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. HOWEVER, THE PONTIAC DEALERSHIP THAT I HAD THE CAR SENT TO AFTER THE ACCIDENT, REPLACED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY (UNDER WARRANTY) ALONG WITH THE FRONT-END DAMAGE THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY COVERED. I RECEIVED THE RECALL IN FEB. 2008 FOR THE REAR PINION SEAL LEAK AND HAD THE REQUIRED WORK DONE AT THAT TIME, ALSO. *TR

IN FEBRUARY OF 2008, SHE WENT TO THE DEALER AND HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. IN MARCH OF 2008, WHILE DRIVING 58 MPH IN WET CONDITIONS, THE WHEELS SUDDENLY LOCKED. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE WALL. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND SHE BELIEVED THAT THE RECALL WAS REPAIRED IMPROPERLY. THE POWERTRAIN AND RECALL NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 40,000.

I PURCHASED MY PONTIAC 2007 SOLSTICE THIS PAST SUMMER "NEW" FROM PAUL BENTON PONTIAC IN OAK RIDGE TN. I LOVE MY CAR BUT, EVER SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT HAS HAD VIBRATION PROBLEMS SO BAD THAT I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK NUMEROUS TIMES TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BECAUSE THE TOP WOULD MAKE A SCRAPPING NOISES WHILE DRIVING. WELL THE NOISE COMES AND GOES, I TOOK MY CAR TODAY AND HAD THE SAFETY RECALL DONE. THEY REPLACED THE REAL PINION SEAL, THEY JUST REPLACED ONE SEAL. IS IT JUST ONE SEAL OR DO THEY NEED TO REPLACE MORE BECAUSE WHEN I WENT TO PICK IT UP THE SERVICE COUNTER INFORMED ME THAT MY BACK R/R AND L/R WHEELS ARE BENT. THEY BALANCED THE TIRES BUT IT NOW THE VIBRATION IS WORSE THAN BEFORE THEY REPLACED THE PART. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE THE STEERING IS LOOSE IN IT, IT WAS TIGHT AND NOW THE WHEEL TURNS BUT THE WHEELS TAKE A WHILE TO CATCH UP. SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SERVICE DEPT MORE THAN HALF THE TIME. I ASKED THE SERVICE MANGER IF HE COULD FIX IT BUT HE SAID THE ONLY THING COVERED UNDER THE RECALL WAS THE PART AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT WAS WRONG WITH IT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS IS FAR CONSIDERING I PAID ALMOST 30,000 FOR THIS CAR HAVE HAD IT LESS THAN A YEAR AND NO FAULT OF MY OWN IT IS HAVING ALL THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
