1995 PONTIAC TRANS SPORT CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE VEHICLE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE DID HAVE AN OIL LEAK. OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT# 10-89-0648. *JB

WE HAVE A 1995 PONTIAC TRANSPORT. IT LEAKS OIL REALLY BAD. WE GO ABOUT FIFTEEN MILES, AND THEN WE HAVE TO ADD TWO MORE QUARTS OF OIL. WE HAVE A FRIEND THAT HAD THE SAME MODEL OF VAN. HIS VAN DID THE SAME THING. HE REPAIRED THE MANIFOLD GASKET THREE TIMES. EACH TIME COSTING $900. FINALLY ON THE FOURTH TIME THIS SITUATION OCCURRED AGAIN. HE TRADED HIS VAN IN ON ANOTHER VEHICLE. WE HOWEVER DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR OUR VAN. WE LIVE ON A SOCIAL SECURITY INCOME. *NM

THIS VEHICLE IS HAVING MULTIPLE PROBLEMS, GM NEVER LETS ME KNOW OF ANY RECALLS. I UNDERSTAND THAT TODAY THEY HAVE RECALLED THEM AGAIN FOR A PROBLEM IN THE STEERING BUT I CANNOT FIND ANY INFORMATION. VERY UPSET THAT I HAVE TO PAY TO GET THIS THING FIXED! REALLY NEED A NEW CAR NOW. THE GAS GAUGE OR TANK IS EMPTY WHEN THE GAUGE SHOWS 1/2 TANK. SIDE DOOR WE UNPLUGGED BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT CLOSE AND THE LIGHT STILL SHOWS ON MY DASH AS OPEN. MANY TIMES IT SIMPLY WOULD NOT OPEN. IN A CRASH WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN ANY DOORS IF THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING. THE TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING BADLY. WE REPLACED IT ONCE ONLY TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN AGAIN. WE USE A LOT OF FLUID AND OIL. THE ENGINE IS RUNNING VERY POORLY, WOULD NOT PASS EMISSIONS. INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT WORK. VAN LOOKS NEW ON OUTSIDE EXCEPT THE HOOD WHICH HAD NO PRIMER ED AND NOW HAS CHIPS ON IT. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, WE CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR NOR FIX THIS ONE.

DEALER HAD AT PREVIOUS TIMES CHECKED COOLANT SYSTEM AND SAID NO TROUBLE, HAD CLEANED RADIATOR AND CHECKED ENGINE TEMPERATURE. SAID EVERYTHING OK. NOW OUT WARRANTY AND ENGINE BLOWN DUE TO COOLANTLEAKAGE AND BEST DEAL SO FAR FOR REPAIR IS 3400.00 FROM CHEVY DEALER. PLASTIC PLENUM WARPS ON MY 3800 V6 IN 1995 PONTIAC TRANSPORT EVERY 35,000 MILES. COOLANT LEAKAGE AND POSSIBLE COOLANT IN OIL CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME, 1ST AT 35,000 2ND AT 73,000 MILES. GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER WILL NOT COVER PARTS OR LABOR ON ANY COMPLAINTS OVER 36,000 MILES. THIS IS HAPPENING ON MULTYPLE VEHICLES WITH SOME NEWER MODELS AT 7,000 TO 20,000 MILES. IF DRIVEN TO EXTREME AND ENGINE FREEZES, COULD CAUSE HANDLING PROBLEMS. GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE DENIED ANY COVERAGE FOR ME WITH ONLY 73,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND THIS HAPPENING TWICE TO ME. RESULTS ARE $650 UNLESS THERE ARE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE IN RESULT OF THE COOLANT LEAKAGE.

ENGINE SIEZED UP, AND THEY WERE NO INDICATIONS THAT THEY WERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE, AS IN LOW ON OIL, GAUGES WERE WORKING FINE AND DIDN'T INDICATE OIL WAS AS LOW AS IT WAS, I CALLED THE PLACE WERE WE BOUGHT IT AND NO ONE KNEW OF ANY PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE, BUT FOR SOME REASON THE OIL GUAGE JUST SEEM TO FAIL .

ADDTL COMMENTS THE SECOND PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE DATE OF PURCHASE AS I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE CAME WITH A FAULTY MODLED COOLANT HEAD ON IT I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALERS HERE AND IN ALASKA AND THEY REPLACED OVER 20-30 OF THESE EVERY MONTH AND IT IS EXSPENSIVE JOB THE DANGER IS RELATED TO OVERHEATING IN THE COLD WEATHER THE HAIRLINE CRACK DOES LEAK LIKE A SEIVE, IN THE WARMER WEATHER THE CRACK SEALS ITSELF UNTIL AGAIN IN A COLDER CLIMATE THAN WAMOO OUT OF THE FAULTY HAIRLINE CRAKC IT COMES AGAIN I DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE DEALER WHEN RETURNED FROM ALASK OF COURSE AT THAT TIME IT WAS 100F AND NO LEAK THE DANGER IN THIS IS THAT IT WILL ONE DAY OVERHEAT DUE TO LACK OF COOLANT AND WILL HAVE FAILURE ON THE HWY ON THE TURNPIKES ON THE INTERSTATE ECT ECT AND CREAT LIFE THREATENING TO OCCUPANTS AS WELL AS OTHERS ON THE ROAD. *AK

THE OIL IN THE CAR GOES DOWN ABOUT THREE PINTS EVER FIVE HUNDERD MILES. HAD THE CAR CHECKD TWICE BY DEALER AND NOTHING WAS DONE. ALSO CALLED THE MANUFACTURER.
