My 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 shuts off without warning. The incident frequently happens when I am driving at city speeds. If I am turning, the vehicle shuts off, and the power steering also cuts off, causing problems turning the steering wheel. When I am driving straight, there are no warning lights on the dashboard, and the vehicle shuts down. This is very dangerous while going.
TRUCK BROKE DOWN WHEN DRIVING CITY STREET NORMAL CONDITIONS. DRIVE SHAFT FELL OFF AND BROKE IN TWO. RELATED TO SAFETY RECALL N08 - REAR AXLE PINION NUT OPENED APRIL 2013. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DONE TO TRUCK, $13K OR SO IN PARTS ALONE OR MORE THAN TRUCK VALUE. HAD MY TRUCK SINCE JUNE 2020, JUST NOW INFORMING ME THEY WILL NOT COVER ANY DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE SAFETY RECALL ISSUE (ONLY THE RECALL REPAIRS WHICH IS MINIMAL). DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE WITH CHRYSLER? ARE THEY CORRECT IN THEIR HANDLING OR DO THEY OWE ME SOME KIND OF FAIR SETTLEMENT PAYOUT SINCE THE DAMAGES ARE WORTH MORE THAN THE TRUCK VALUE (TRADE IN AROUND $12K).

2010 DODGE RAM 1500 W/ GEAR SHIFTER LOCATED ON STEERING COLUMN WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTER POPPED OUT OF GEAR AND BEGAN TO ROLL. AS A RESULT, OWNER OF VEHICLE SUFFERED LEFT ANKLE AND THORACIC FRACTURES REQUIRING HOSPITALIZATION. VEHICLE CAME TO REST AFTER CRASHING INTO A RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET, MY TRUCK TURNED OFF UNEXPECTEDLY AND DISABLED THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKING MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. I DID NOTATE THE THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT DID COME ON. THIS HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN IN A PARKING GARAGE WHILE I WAS LEAVING, AGAIN DISABLING THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKING, THOUGH I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH NOT TO HIT ANY CARS WHILE I WAS TURNING. MY IGNITION SWITCH 'WIN' MODULE NOW ACTS UP OCCASIONALLY AND THE TRUCK WILL TURN OVER FOR A SECOND, AND THEN IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF. I BELIEVE THE ROOT CAUSE IS THE WIN MODULE. PLEASE REFERENCE RECALL # 11V139000 AND 10V200000 AS THIS EXACTLY DESCRIBES HOW MY TRUCK WAS IN MOTION AND WAS SHUT OFF DUE TO A WIN MODULE DEFECT.

MY LIGHTS ON THE PASSENGER MIRROR BLINK ALL THE TIME WHILE RUNNING AND OR OPENING THE DOOR. HUBS/CV AXLES HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE 3 TIMES EACH NOW. THIS VEHICLE IN NOT USED AND ABUSED. I TAKE CARE OF IT WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE. I HAVE HEARD FROM OTHERS WHO OWN SAME YEAR MODEL AND HAVE SEEN ONLINE ON FORUMS OTHERS HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES ALSO. THIS CAUSES THE CV, HUBS, AND ROTORS/BRAKES TO BE REPLACED.

FIRST THE TIRE PRESSURE DISPLAY SAID THAT DIFFERENT TIRES WERE SHOWING A MULTITUDE OF DIFFERENT PRESSURES THE GAS GAUGE STARTED FLICKERING BETWEEN FULL AND EMPTY AS WELL AS THE STOP WORKING OF THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER AIR-CONDITIONED, POWER STEERING AND CONTINUAL WINDSHIELD WIPER ON EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE OFF AT THE SWITCH. RADIO INTERMITTENTLY ON AND OFF AND ABS AND AIRBAG LIGHT ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. ALL FOUR WINDOWS FAIL TO OPERATE AND INTERIOR LIGHTING WILL NOT COME ON. GAUGE FUNCTION FLUCTUATES EVERY COUPLE SECOND.

THE 2010 DODGE RAM 1500 HAS SUSPENSION PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT BALL JOINTS BEING TOO SMALL. THIS LEADS TO MY TRUCK SKIPPING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ANY BUMPY ROADS AND HAS CAUSED ME MANY, MANY TIMES TO SUDDENLY LOOSE CONTROL. ON BUMPY DIRT ROADS IT CAN HAPPEN AT 35-45 MPH. ON THE HIGHWAY IT IS VERY BAD BETWEEN 55-60 MPH IF YOU HIT ANY BUMP OR EVEN IN A TIGHT CURVE. THIS TRUCK IS HIGHLY UNSTABLE. WHEN PULLING A BOAT WHERE LESS WEIGHT IS ON THE FRONT WHEELS, IT MULTIPLIES THE PROBLEM. I AM FORCED TO NEVER GO FASTER THAN 50MPH ON ANY CURVES THAT ARE REMOTELY SHARP. THE SECOND PROBLEM IS NOT A ACTIVE SAFETY PROBLEM BUT IS A HORRIBLE PROBLEM FOR EMISSION. MY TRUCK HAS THE INFAMOUS HEMI TICK. THIS IS CAUSED BY FAULTY MANIFOLD BOLTS THAT EITHER BACK OFF, RUST OFF, OR BREAK OFF LEAVING GAPS BETWEEN THE HEAD AND THE MANIFOLD. CO2 IS LEAKING OUT OF THE ENGINE PRIOR TO GOING INTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE EPA SHOULD GET INVOLVED...

FRONT AXLE,FRONT BEARING,CALIPERS, A NEW DISC AND BRAKES,A FRONT NUCKLE AND DRIVE SPINDLE FOR THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE.

I WAS DRIVING IT ON THE HIGHWAY THE NEXT DAY AND IT DIED ON ME CROSSING THE HIGHWAY, SEMI TRUCK ALMOST KILLED ME, PUT IT IN PARK AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE SPARK PLUGS, DISHED OUT 225 DOLLARS FOR THAT, SAID ITS FIXED AGAIN. DID IT AGAIN TO MY WIFE THE NEXT DAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE VEHICLE. BROUGHT IT BACK IN DODGE HAD IT FOR TWO WEEKS, KNOW THERE TELLING ME ITS THE FUSE BOX MODULE AT 1400 DOLLARS. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, TALKING TO DEALERSHIP MANAGER ABOUT WIFE NOT FEELING SAFE IN THE VEHICLE, SHE SAID ELECTRICAL WORK IS HARD TO FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. WE WERE DRIVING OUR 2010 DODGE RAM 1500 ON A COUNTY HIGHWAY WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD WHIRRING NOISE. AS WE APPROACHED A DOWNHILL SECTION AND MY HUSBAND TOOK HIS FOOT OFF THE GAS THE NOISE WENT AWAY, BUT CAME BACK LOUDER AS SOON AS HE PUT HIS FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. WE COULD FEEL AND HEAR SOMETHING UNDER THE CAR BASHING THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THERE WERE NO ONCOMERS FORTUNATELY AND MY HUSBAND DID MANAGE TO STOP THE VEHICLE JUST SHORT OF THE GUARDRAIL AND GOING OVER THE RAVINE. THE CAR WAS STILL HALF IN THE LANE .. HE TURNED ON THE HAZARDS AND I JUMPED OUT, IT WAS DARK WITH NO LIGHTING ON THE ROAD AND HARD TO SEE UNTIL THE CAR BEHIND US STOPPED TO SEE IF WE WERE OK AND SAID OUR DRIVE SHAFT HAD DISCONNECTED. WE REMOVED OUR 2 YOUNG CHILDREN FROM THEIR CARSEATS, WAITED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE MEN TRIED TO MOVE THE TRUCK OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC BUT THE TIRES WERE LOCKED. WE CALLED 911 FOR THE POLICE TO GIVE OUR CHILDREN A SAFER PLACE TO STAY OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND TO PROVIDE DIRECTION TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS WE HAD A TOW TRUCK COME OUT TO BRING THE CAR TO THE NEARBY DODGE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT THE CAR, INFORMED US IT WAS PART OF A RECALL BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX IT IN STOCK. THEY DID NOT OFFER AN ALTERNATE VEHICLE TO US AND WE ARE STILL AWAITING WORD ON WHAT IS HAPPENING AT ALMOST A WEEK AFTER THIS INCIDENT TOOK PLACE. FOR ME THE INTEGRITY OF THE ENTIRE DRIVE SHAFT, UNDERCARRIAGE AND ALL EQUIPMENT/COMPONENTS OF THE VEHILE, TIRES WHICH WERE SHOWING SIGNS OF EXTREME WEAR AND LOW ON AIR ARE ALL NOW COMPROMISED. *JS

I OWN A 2010 DODGE RAM SLT. I RECENTLY HAD IT IN TO HAVE THE REAR AXLE PINION NUT REPLACED AND WAS TOLD I HAVE BAD TIE ROD ENDS. AT 46,000 MILES I FOUND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS ACCURATE THAT MY TIE ROD ENDS WERE BAD. I REPLACED BOTH TIE ROD ENDS AT 46,000 MILES. THEN HAD TO PAY FOR AN ALIGNMENT OF COURSE. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN FOR ME BECAUSE I TRANSPORT MY CHILDREN TO AND FROM SCHOOL DAILY. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT AT 46,000 MILES MY TIE ROD ENDS NEED REPLACEMENT. THIS COULD HAVE ALSO LED TO MY TIRES NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AT 36,000 MILES EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE ROTATED EVERY 6 K. CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR RAM 2500 AND UP FOR REPLACING THE TIE ROD ENDS BECAUSE OF MOISTURE AND DIRT THAT GETS INTO THE BALL AND SOCKET. MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED THE 1500 AS WELL. *TR

REAR AXLE PINION NUT RECALL - KNOWN TO CAUSE ACCIDENTS UPON FAILURE - 4 CASES ALREADY. MANUFACTURER ACKNOWLEDGED THE SAFETY RECALL IN JANUARY 2013 AND SENT OUT SAFETY RECALL NOTICES TO ALL CONSUMERS THAT THE RECALL AFFECTS. I HAVE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS NUMEROUS TIMES REGARDING THE RECALL AND THEY SIMPLY SAY THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. NINE MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL NOTICE DISTRIBUTION I CONTACTED DODGE CORPORATE TO FIND OUT WHY THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY STATE THAT DODGE HAS FAILED TO SECURE A VENDOR TO SUPPLY THE PRODUCT. THIS CONCERNS ME A GREAT DEAL THAT DODGE PUTS THE CONSUMER IN DANGER BY NOT BEING RESPONSIBLE AND MAKING THE REPAIRS NEEDED. THIS RECALLED PART CAN CAUSE A DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE AND INJURE THEMSELVES AS WELL AS OTHERS. *JB

THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A GRINDING SOUND, THEN STARTED JERKING RIGHT BEFORE IT ABRUPTLY CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. UPON GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED, THE REAR DRIVE SHAFT WAS DISCONNECTED FROM THE TRUCK AND HANGING DOWN ON THE ROAD. WE THEN TRIED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH IT OFF OF THE MAIN ROAD WE WERE ON TO A SAFER SIDE ROAD. THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARDS. UPON RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, IT HAS CAME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS IS PART OF THE SAFETY RECALL THAT HAS BEEN ISSUED BY DODGE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE BRAKES AND THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BUT THE INVESTIGATOR WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR

AS I WAS APPROACHING TRUCK MOVING SAME DIRECTION IN OTHER LANE (4 LANE DIVIDED) IT HAD A RACK ON TOP WITH METAL SIDING ON IT NOT TIED DOWN CAUSE THE WIND CAUGHT IT A IT CAME RIGHT INTO MY PATH. I BRAKE AND STEERED RIGHT. AND IT WAS ALL OVER. I TOOK IT TO DEALER TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS NOT RIGHT THEY CHECKED HAD NOT HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS. THEN IT HAPPEND AGAIN DOING 65 I WAS SIDEWAYS INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC IN SPLIT SECOND AND STOPPED WITHIN 150 FEET IF I HAD NOT COUNTER STEERED AS FAST AS ANYONE COULD. IN BOTH CASES IT WOULD HAVE ROLLED. TOLD DEALER IT SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD. THEY WANTED TO TEST DRIVE MY RT TRUCK AND SEE IF THEY COULD GET IT SIDEWAYS I TOLD THEM NOT ON MY INSURANCE OR WITHOUT A TEST TRACK AND A WET SKIDPAD AND ROLL CAGE. BOTTOM LINE MY TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. I DO NOT DRIVE IT NOWHERE BUT WORK WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL AND STABILITY CONTROL OFF. I THINK THE COMPUTER THAT SENSES A SKID IS NOT RIGHT LIKE IT MADE THE WRONG TIRE LOCK UP. MY TRUCK HAS DONE IT TWICE. BET IT CAN AGAIN IF YOU WANT TO CHECK. PLEASE GET ON THIS BEFORE SOME ONE IS HURT OR WORSE LIKE I TOLD THE DEALER. IT COULD HAVE BEEN YOUR WIFE AND KIDS IN THE TRUCK OR ON THE ROAD COMING AT A TRUCK THAT WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND NO FAULT OF THERE OWN. I KNOW HOW TEST FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
