I was driving to work on [XXX] when my rear end locked up and I slid sideways down [XXX]. I was going slower than normal due to slippery road conditions. The mechanic told me it was the pinion nut that froze up and locked up the gears and snapped the drive shaft. If it had been clear roads the truck probably would have flipped over. While driving my 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab, the key fob (FOBIK) has fallen out of the ignition while actively driving. The key can be removed from the ignition while actively driving with little to no effort. Upon this happening, the vehicle sometimes remains fully operable, at times it remains driving but looses speedometer, wipers, heat/ac, running/brake lights and turn signals, or the vehicle will completely shut off, losing all function and drivability to include power steering. In one instance, the vehicle remained driving but lost wipers and lights during a night time storm. On another occasion, the vehicle lost all drivability traveling at a high rate of speed at night with traffic on a highway in a rural area with no streetlights. This defect has provided for a multitude of highly dangerous events while driving. There IS a recall (recall ref K08) describing this exact issue, however my VIN was not included in the recall and is not being recognized and or honored for recall repair by local Chrysler Dodge Dealerships or by Chrysler Headquarters. Chrysler Headquarters customer service communicated it is the responsibility of the NHTSB to add my VIN to the recall in order for the repair or replacement of the faulty WIN module along with replacement and programming of key fobs to be covered. This repair is estimated to cost $2500.
Vehicle driving speed limit of 65 when all of a sudden check engine light came on and off a few times. Driver pulled over to side of road and raised hood. Waiting on tow truck and vehicle caught fire in engine compartment.

HAD MY TRUCK SINCE JUNE 2020, JUST NOW INFORMING ME THEY WILL NOT COVER ANY DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE SAFETY RECALL ISSUE (ONLY THE RECALL REPAIRS WHICH IS MINIMAL). DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE WITH CHRYSLER? ARE THEY CORRECT IN THEIR HANDLING OR DO THEY OWE ME SOME KIND OF FAIR SETTLEMENT PAYOUT SINCE THE DAMAGES ARE WORTH MORE THAN THE TRUCK VALUE (TRADE IN AROUND $12K).

ONLY PUT 30,000 MILES ON THIS DODGE RAM SENCE I GOT IT AND THE REAR PINION SEAL WAS LEAKING, GOT IT REPLACED AND NOW IT IS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE SO LOAD I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID IT HAS LOTS OF SHAVINGS INSIDE THE REAR END. AFRAID IT WILL LOCK UP AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY?

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY DRIVE SHAFT FELL OUT CAUSING 6000$ OF DAMAGE. INVESTIGATION RE REVILED A RECALL BECAUSE THE NUT THAT HOLD THE SHAFT IN WAS COMING LOOSE CAUSING IT TO FALL. UPON GETTING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THE RECALL HAD BEEN FIXED IN 2014. THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND SAID THAT THE REMEDY FOR THE RECALL WAS NOT IN PLACE BUT CLAIM THAT BETWEEN THE RECALL BEING DONE AND THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THE REMEDY COULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED. WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS AND THIS ID THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAVE HAD.

THERE WAS A K17 RECALL FOR MODELS: 2009-2010 (DS) RAM TRUCK (1500 SERIES) 2010 (DJ) RAM TRUCK (2500 SERIES), 2010 (D2) RAM TRUCK (3500 SERIES) NOTE: THIS RECALL ONLY APPLIED TO THE ABOVE VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH MAY 22, 2010 (MDH 05222010). MY VEHICLE IS 2010 AND WAS MADE AFTER MAY 22 (I BELIEVE IN JULY) I THINK THIS RECALL SHOULD APPLY TO ALL 2010 RAM 1500 VEHICLES AS MINE IS AFFECTED BUT CURRENTLY NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, ALL INVOLVED VEHICLES MUST HAVE UPDATED HVAC CONTROL HEAD SOFTWARE INSTALLED AND THE MODE DOOR ACTUATORS MUST BE TESTED AND REPLACED AS REQUIRED. 2010 DODGE RAM 1500 HEMI TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN INSTANTLY THE GAUGE CLUSTER STARTED ACTING ERRATIC. FIRST THE TIRE PRESSURE DISPLAY SAID THAT DIFFERENT TIRES WERE SHOWING A MULTITUDE OF DIFFERENT PRESSURES THE GAS GAUGE STARTED FLICKERING BETWEEN FULL AND EMPTY AS WELL AS THE STOP WORKING OF THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER AIR-CONDITIONED, POWER STEERING AND CONTINUAL WINDSHIELD WIPER ON EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE OFF AT THE SWITCH. RADIO INTERMITTENTLY ON AND OFF AND ABS AND AIRBAG LIGHT ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. ALL FOUR WINDOWS FAIL TO OPERATE AND INTERIOR LIGHTING WILL NOT COME ON. GAUGE FUNCTION FLUCTUATES EVERY COUPLE SECOND.

RER 730N UCONNECT RADIOS (AND POSSIBLY OTHERS) SUFFER FROM A BLUETOOTH DISCONNECT ISSUE WHICH CAN BE REMEDIED AS DESCRIBED/REPORTED BY ME TO UCONNECT CUSTOMER CARE IN CASE #27903984. THE ISSUE AT HAND IS THAT PHONES (MAINLY APPLE IPHONE'S USING ICLOUD SERVICES) ARE DISCONNECTED FROM THE RADIOS AND ARE SUBSEQUENTLY UNABLE TO RECONNECT. I HAVE REPORTED A POTENTIAL FIX TO THE ISSUE TO UCONNECT AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY WILL NO LONGER OFFER SUPPORT FOR THE RADIO. THE RADIO IN MY MODEL YEAR VEHICLE IS ALSO AVAILABLE UP UNTIL 2013 CHRYSLER VEHICLES AND I FIND IT CONCERNING AND DISHEARTENING THAT CHRYSLER/FIAT/UCONNECT WILL NOT SUPPORT SUCH A RECENT GENERATION RADIO. THE ABILITY TO USE BLUETOOTH IS ESSENTIAL IN TODAYS SOCIETY AS MAKING AND RECEIVING PHONE CALLS AND TEXT MESSAGES HAS BECOME THE WAY OF LIFE. SHOULD DRIVERS BE UNABLE TO USE THEIR VEHICLE'S NATIVE BLUETOOTH HANDSFREE IT COULD LEAD TO POTENTIAL DANGERS AS DRIVERS WILL MORE THAN LIKELY HAVE TO MANUALLY ANSWER THEIR CALLS/TEXTS/ETC. I WAS TOLD THAT THAT TRUCKS WITH THE PINION NUT WERE , AFTER BEING PUT ON HOLD I WAS TOLD MY TRUCK WASN'T IN THE BRACKET FOR THE RIGHT PINION NUT FAILURE . THE LADY THEN STATED THAT THE TIE-RODS WERE ANOTHER CASE FOR BUY BACK . WHEN TOLD MY TRUCK HAD THAT REPAIR SHE STATED ITS ANOTHER TIE-ROD RECALL . WHEN ASKED WHAT WERE THE CORRECT FAILURES AND RECALLS SHE STATED SHE COULD NOT GIVE ME THAT INFORMATION . I NOTICED THE VEHICLE MAKING A HUMMING/RUBBING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR END WHEN MOVING 20-35MPH AND COMING TO A STOP. I PARKED THE VEHICLE UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, SO THE TECHNICIAN COULD TEST DRIVE AND LOCATE THE PROBLEM. UPON HIS INITIAL LEAVING HE HEARD NOTHING SO HE PROCEEDED TO PICK UP THE SPEED TO 55MPH TO CHECK FOR VIBRATION IN A NEUTRAL COAST DOWN. UPON REACHING 45MPH THE DRIVE-SHAFT COMPLETELY SNAPPED AND SEPARATED FROM THE REAR END ASSEMBLY, RESULTING IN THE REAR END COMPLETELY LOCKING UP AND SENDING THE TRUCK SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL AND THE DRIVE SHAFT SWINGING VIOLENTLY UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK UNTIL THE TRUCK CAME TO REST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION WHEN THE TRUCK WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY COMPLETELY UNTHREADED ITSELF FROM THE DRIVESHAFT RESULTING IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE REAR END. AS A RESULT IT COMPLETELY DESTROYED THE GEARS AND COMPONENTS WITHIN THE REAR END HOUSING INCLUDING DEEP GASHES INTO THE HOUSING ITSELF RENDERING IT UNSAFE TO RE-BUILD ON.
