There are multiple electrical issues I’ve had to trouble shoot over the past 4 months. As I’ve researched other people with the same issues online, I’ve bee seeing a lot about some recalls pertaing to electrical issues and fuel issues and so I am wondering if there are prior recalls that I might need to have taken care of which I feel could fix my vehicle issues

my 2011 RAM 1500 5.7L has a Faulty TIPM. Fuel Pump cuts out, causing stalling and intermittent operation, starting vehicle becomes problematic while commuting. vehicle will sometimes not start at all and will remain stuck in an ignition loop. Continues to throw random check engine codes. I have had several near miss collisions while driving due to its unsafe condition I took the vehicle in to have a diagnostic done and a licensed Chrysler dealer deduced the vehicle has a faulty TIPM, which correlates to the mass recall on the 2011 RAM 1500 models However my VIN does not show its associated with the many models of 2011 RAM 1500 when I cross referenced this.

My truck first started having trouble starting .when driving engine it would shut-off at anytime making it dangerous to steer and breakdown in traffic. There was no fault codes or warning lights on dash . After doing testing I found that the fuel pump relay was shut-off. Tipm is faulty and all Chrysler that have this style of tipm should be added to recall . I purchased a external fuel pump relay harness to repair tipm.

5.7 Liter Hemi Lifter/Camshaft failure. Camshaft lobe has been completely ground down. Always been well maintained and taken care of also. Apparently this is a Major recurring issue with this year Ram 1500 with the 5.7L. Didn’t have any warning lights pop up on the dash either. I believe this is a safety hazard to myself and other drivers because it happens without warning and I lost 75% power of my truck on a major interstate and was almost rear ended by a semi truck hauling a heavy load. Luckily was able to swerve off onto the shoulder and save myself from a disaster.

This issue has been experienced more than 5 times and only occurs while turning. While making both left and right hand turns, the steering wheel locks mid turn and the engine completely shuts off resulting in the inability to turn in any direction. The first time this happened, I almost went into a ditch and today as I turned to cross an intersection, I lost all steering control and the truck shut down mid turn in the middle of the intersection. This left the truck immobilized in the intersection and facing into oncoming traffic. Following each incident, I put the truck in park and restart it as if there was no issue. There are no warning lights that appear prior to any of the incidents that would indicate an issue and the instrument panel goes dark each time the issue occurs. This is going to get me and/or my family killed one of these days. I have researched this online and there are countless reports from other 2011 Ram owners experiencing the same exact issue. How has a safety recall not been issued for this?

Exhaust manifold bolts breaking and leaking due to exhaust manifold is warping under high heat. Company will not repair this problem. As it is a recurring issue known as the hemi tick. With exhaust gas leaking at the manifold causing carbon monoxide to enter cab or vehicle. Before exiting the rear of the vehicle as designed.

My truck has the same Fuse box assembly that several other dodge jeep vehicles have that the fuel pump relay shorts out while driving yet none of yalls recalls include my specific vehicle so that I can get my truck fixed under the multiple recalls yall have issued for this exact problem, dodge should be held liable for their mistakes not the consumers who are having to pay to fix the issue out of pocket simply because y'all didn't include our vehicles in the recall, my vehicle has shorted out many times almost causing us to nearly have multiple wrecks

The exhaust manifold cracked, the electrical system, supplying gas to the engine, is built into the fuse box, which is unfixable without replacing the entire fuse box. Valve on engine became extremely noisy and I’ve had to be replaced

There was complete Cam and Lifter failure and it can be inspected. I was driving on the freeway and suddenly all power was lost and the truck started shaking. Once we got off the freeway, the truck started shaking horribly when we hit 3k RPM. We became an obstruction in the road and driving was dangerous. It is reproduced and confirmed by the dealer. It has been inspected. The check engine went on the same time the truck started shaking.

With no warning the TIPM malfunctioned leaving my truck in a crank with no start scenario and stranded. Then my starter died trying to resolve. Starter replaced and mechanic found the TIPM fuel relay corroded and malfunctioning. Chrysler dealers tell me no new TIPM is available as far as they can search across Canada and they have no ETA when they expect availability of the part. So now I can’t even repair the truck? Every other 2011 Chrysler / Jeep / Dodge had been recalled for the EXACT same part back in 2014-2015 investigation. Why was the 2011 Ram truck excluded from this recall??? A few searches online and it’s evident the majority of 2011 ram owners have run into this issue, and lots of reporting of it. So now I have a vehicle that has 0 parts available to fix (straight from multiple Chrysler dealers parts dept) and is pretty much only good to be used as a paper weight now and I have to look at buying another vehicle because this part isn’t even available? A Recall should be issued for the TIPM is 2011 ram and/or if this part is not available, fair market value buy back from Chrysler/FCA should be mandated, and they can buy back this paperweight of a truck I am now stuck with no solution to even get it repaired with new OEM parts.

The camshaft has balded on one of the cylinders. I first said I had a check engine light with a P0303 code. I replaced the spark plugs, the ignition coils, the fuel injector, and even the PCM. None of that fixed it. I was driving on the freeway when it started flashing the check engine light and the car lost all power so the RPMs don't like to go over 3k. The check engine light still flashes like crazy every time I turn it on and even touch the gas. I checked the vacuum lines and sensors and air lines. They are all perfect. Then I checked the compression and it is less than half of what it is supposed to be on just one cylinder. I looked at the camshaft and found that it was bald and not creating compression that way. I did some research on some forums and found this is really common for this year of Ram. This made it undrivable and unsafe without power. The timing chain and timing tensioner are loose when the economy is on. Have to drive it in tow mode for it to stop. Then the truck jumped forward an hit another vehicle. Now, I have to pay 1600 to get it fixed.. If dodge would've put good quality parts in we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I was driving at highway speed. The vehicle suddenly lost power and began to shutter. It was difficult to control and the vehicle behind me had to swerve to the inside lane to avoid a rear end collision. Upon receipt and diagnosis from Olathe DCJ, they indicated there is a misfire in cylinder 5. Through a Google review, I discovered this is very common know issue. It costs anywhere from $3500-$15000 to resolve let alone the risk to life. In discussion with my service advisor (Mike), they perform this repair a couple of times a month. This is in one location in the Kansas City area. I can only imagine how widespread this issue is.

The contact owns a 2011 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, he heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle and the vehicle began to shake forcefully. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated a week after the incident happened. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the camshaft and lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact called and made the local dealer aware of the failure. The contact was unable to reach a representative with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 145,600.

Engine is giving a code that a lifter is bad. With only 170000 miles this should never be a problem unless there is a defect with the parts used to make the engine.

If I am driving and a lifter gives out and the vehicle shuts down then ANYTHING can happen at any speed. SO wtf are ya'll talking about this is not a safety concern? So if u want to get into how many people are in harms way if this fails we are talking about Thousands to Millions. AS THESE CARS GET OLDER WE WILL ONLY SEE THIS HAPPEN MORE OFTEN. Build a terrible product u need to get called out for the terrible design because u wee trying to screw people out of repair money by the terrible design. These companies should be sued out of existence. They dont care about the longevity of their product and should not be allowed to sell to AMERICANS.

The lifters are knocking and there's a tick in the engine. I've done some research and there's a whole forum regarding complaints for the Hemi's 5.7L engines in this specific year of my vehicle and other FCA vehicles, stating the notorious "Hemi tick" and the lifters going bad. Yes my vehicle is available for inspection because I can't afford the amount shops are trying to charge. If multiple vehicle's, made by FCA with the Hemi engine for models 2011, are having the same issue I would think it had to do with a manufacturing defect. The vehicle has caused a major vibration and jerking when I try to drive which could in turn cause me to wreck! My vehicle has been inspected at a shop. My check engine light is on and came on after hearing the tick in the engine for awhile previous to the light coming on. The lifters knocking started about a month ago.

Fuel Pump Relay inside the TPIM failed as did in the same unit that has been previously recalled in other vehicles.Chrysler Recall P54. Without warning the relay failed while hiking in the desert. I returned to a dead battery and a 17 mile hike back out to cell signal to get help. If this failure happened while driving down the road the results could have been a very deadly crash. Why is this part under recall on other vehicles and not this one? It is the same part!

TRUCK WAS DRIVING NORMALLY UNTIL GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. AS TRUCK WAS DRIVING ON THE ON RAMP TO HIGHWAY AND TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC IT HIT 60MPH AND STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND ENGINE BOGGED DOWN, SLOWING THE TRUCK DOWN TO UNDER 60 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, FLASHING. SLOWED DOWN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AND TRUCK DROVE FIND. AFTER PULLING OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD ENGINE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. NO ISSUES. ATTEMPTED TO MERGE BACK INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC BUT AGAIN TRUCK SHOOK AND BOGGED DOWN ONCE REACHING 55MPH. TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP AND PLUGS AND COIL PACK WERE REPLACED. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WAS CHECKED AND IT WAS NOT PLUGGED AND FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS WAS ANOTHER RAM WITH A BAD LIFTER THAT CAUSE THE CAM SHAFT TO WEAR OUT. ENGINE WAS REPLACED. AFTER ENGINE WAS REPLACED THIS LED TO ISSUES WITH THE SEAL BETWEEN THE OIL PAN SEAL AND THE ENGINE. THE SEAL FAILED AND WAS LEAKING OIL. TOOK RIGHT BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY NOW HAVE HAD TO PUT TWO OIL SEALS ON. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE AS THIS IS THE 4TH RAM I'VE HEARD OF LISTED IN THE LAST MONTH WITH THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE SIMILAR ISSUES NOTED RECENTLY ON THIS WEBSITE.

VEHICLE STARTS TO SHAKE AND IS HARDER TO CONTROL, AND LOSES ACCELERATION, IS RANDOM, ALMOST CAUSING A MULTI-CAR PILEUP. ISSUE IS THE CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS. I WAS OPERATING MY VEHICLE WHEN IT PRESENTED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I UTILIZED A CODE READER TO DETERMINE IT WAS A CYLINDER 5 MISFIRE CODE. THE CODE DISAPPEARED AFTER ROUGHLY 30 SECONDS. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THE TRUCK STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING, CAUSING ME TO ALMOST LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FROM THE MIDDLE LANE, ALMOST CAUSING MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS AS MY SPEED RAPIDLY DECREASED. THE SHAKING CONTINUED FOR ANOTHER TWO MINUTES AFTER WHICH IT STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME BY TRAVELING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED AND KEEPING THE ENGINE SPEED UNDER 3000 RPM. THE ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAILING CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS CAUSING A MISFIRE AND THE LOSS OF POWER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF THE MISFIRE OCCURRING AGAIN AND ME LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.

WE HAD THE TRUCK LOOKED AT AND THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED THEN THE COIL PACKS NONE OF WHICH FIXED THE TRUCK. FINALLY THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE LIFTERS IN THE MOTOR FAILED WHICH DAMAGED THE CAM SHAFT. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE MOTOR IN THE TRUCK. THE DEALERSHIP EVEN SAID THAT THE PART WAS FAULTY AND DODGE CONTINUED TO USE THEM IN THE ENGINES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED WITH AN IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. WHEN I TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF AND TOOK THE KEY OUT THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUED TO RUN FOR HOURS BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS BAD. THIS TRUCK DOESN'T HAVE AN EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY LIKE MOST VEHICLES DO. BY HAVING A BAD INTERNAL RELAY IT CAN CAUSE GAS TO CONTINUE TO PUMP IN AN ACCIDENT AND IF THERE IS A FIRE THE FUEL WILL CONTINUE TO PUMP AND NOT SHUT OFF. ALSO BY THIS FUEL RELAY NOT SHUTTING OFF THE FUEL PUMP IT DRAINS MY BATTERY AND IT WILL BURN OUT THE FUEL PUMP.. THE BIGGEST CONCERN BY NOT HAVING AN EXTERNAL FUEL RELAY WHERE A PERSON CAN CHANGE IT IS THAT WHEN IT DON'T SHUT OFF AS YOUR DRIVING AND GET I AN ACCIDENT WHERE FIRE OR HEAT IS INVOLVED THIS COULD CAUSE AN EXPLOSION INJURY OR EVEN DEATH, BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THIS RELAY IS BAD AND CAN'T CHANGE IT WITHOUT CHANGING THE WHOLE FUSE BOX OR GETTING THE FUSE BOX REPLACED. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I PARKED THE CAR AND REMOVED KEY AND LEFT IT FOR 8 HOURS WHILE I WAS AT WORK. I CAME OUT TO A DEAD BATTERY, AFTER HOOKING UP JUMPER CABLES I COULD HEAR A HUMMING SOUND, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUING TO PUMP GAS EVEN THOUGH KEY WAS OUT AND TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF... I KNOW DODGE RECALLED OTHER TYPES OF VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM.

OVER TIME, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER #8. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, THE LIFTERS AND POSSIBLY THE CAMSHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS THEN REFERRED TO NHTSA AND WAS OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 155,000.

BACK IN AUGUST OF 2019 I BOUGHT MY CAR TO THE BROWNS 112 DEALERSHIP AND GOT WORK DONE TO PUT IN A NEW ENGINE IN THE CAR THIS WORK TOOK OVER 4 MONTHS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NEVER OFF THE CAR NOW A YEAR LATER ALMOST AND THE CAR IS GIVIN ME THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE SHAKING AND NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THAT 27,000 ON THE NEW ENGINE THE PROBLEM IS MINE AND THAT I WRECK THE CAR WHICH I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW I DID THIS

COULD NOT DRIVE EVEN CLOSE TO THE SPEED LIMIT AND CAUSED A TRAFFIC BACKUP WHILE DRIVING IT TO THE DEALER. CODE WS P0305. MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 5. THE DEALER CHANGED PLUGS, AND COIL PACK. RESET CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. DROVE 12 MILES AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. RETURNED TO DEALER. MECHANIC STATED IT WAS WORN CAM. ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR IS 4500-5000. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 140,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE TAKEN EXTRA CARE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I'M RETIRED AND I PLANNED ON THIS BEING MY LAST TRUCK. UPON INVESTIGATION THERE ARE LITERALLY 10000'S OF THESE ENGINES BREAKING IN THIS MANNER. IT'S NOT ONLY TRUCKS BUT IN ALL OF THE VARIOUS CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THIS STARTED WITH THE FIRST MODEL 5.7 HEMI. THERE IS NO COMMENT OR HELP FROM CHRYSLER. THIS ENGINE FAILURE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY NHTSA. INDIVIDUALS HAVE LITTLE POWER TO DO ANYTHING WHICH IS WHY WE RELY ON GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS NHTSA TO MAKE OUR COLLECTIVE VOICES HEARD. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD SLOWING DOWN HEADING TOWARDS A STOPLIGHT AND MY 2011 DODGE RAM STOPPED AT THE STOPLIGHT AND WOULD NOT TURN OVER IT WOULD CRANK BUT WOULD NOT START. I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW FROM THIS DEALER AND HAVE HAD ALL SERVICE, RECALL AND REPAIRS DONE AT THIS DEALER. I WAS NEVER INFORMED THAT THIS TYPE OF CATISTROPHIC FAILURE COULD OCCUR AT ANY TIME DURING MY OWNERSHIP, EITHER BY THE DEALER OR CHRYSLER CORP. THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE INTERNAL PART THAT COULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, BEFORE THE PART FAILED FOR $700.00. AN UNKNOWN LOCAL DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.

I HAVE A 2011 RAM 1500 QUAD CAB WITH THE 5.7 HEMI ENGINE. THE TIPM STARTED FAULTING AND NOT LETTING THE FUEL PUMP RUN AND START THE CAR. THEN IT STOPPED THE TRAILER/TOW LIGHTS CONNECTION IN THE REAR NOT WORKING WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF TOWING A TRAILER. THE ANTI-SLIP WAS ACTIVATED ALL THE TIME AND IT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLES RADIO AND BACK UP CAMERA.

AT 140000 MILES TRUCK KICK CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD IT CHECKED BY MECHANIC CODE P0301 SHOWED CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE. DID TROUBLE SHOOTING, CHANGING PLUGS, COIL PACK, INJECTOR CLEANER, AND AIR INTAKE SENSOR. NOTHING WORKED. DID COMPRESSION CHECK AND FOUND CYLINDER 1 HAS LOST COMPRESSION. MAYBE BROKEN VALVE SPRING, WHEN TRIED TO REPLACE FOUND VALVE WAS BARELY MOVING. PLUS HAD A LIFTER TAPPING NOISE. COST FOR REPAIRS WILL BE OVER $4000. FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THIS YEAR TRUCK WITH THE 5 7 HEMI.

VEHICLE WILL NOT START NOT GETTING FUEL, REMOTE START WON'T WORK.THE PROBLEMS ARE RELATED TO A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY AND THE NO-START OFTEN OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD AND PROGRESSIVELY GET WORSE. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS ISSUE IS RELATED TO A RECALL FOR FAULTY FUEL RELAYS THAT ARE VERY COMMON IN 2011-2013 VEHICLES, LIKE THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND DODGE DURANGOS BUT THEY WERE THE ONLY VEHICLES RECALLED. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT SOMETIMES DAYS APART OR MULTIPLE TIMES THE SAME DAY. I AN DATING THIS TODAY BUT HAVE HAD ISSUES SINCE DECEMBER 2018 IF NOT LONGER.

DRIVING AWAY FROM DEALERSHIP AFTER ROUTINE OIL & LUBE, I NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS IDLING ROUGHLY AT A NEARBY STOP LIGHT. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CEL ILLUMINATED. ON 19 JUL 2018 I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THE INVOICE/ SERVICE SUMMARY STATES:"CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. TEST AND FOUND CYLINDER #3 MISFIRE. SWAP SPARK PLUG, AND COIL. STILL HAS #3 MISFIRE. CAN HEAR POSSABLE LIFTER NOISE. WILL NEED TO TAKE APART ENGINE TO TEST." THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD ME CAM SHAFT LIFTER WEAR IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 5.7 LITER HEMIS. HE SAID THEY'VE HAD SEVERAL CASES AT THAT DEALERSHIP, AND THERE WERE 70,000 PARTS ON BACK ORDER NATION WIDE RELATED TO THE PROBLEM. HE ALSO TOLD ME THE ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR WOULD BE $3,500 - $4,000. THE INVOICE TO CHECK THE CEL WAS $122.91. I WAS TOLD IT SHOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE. INTERNET SEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM CONFIRMS IT IS WIDESPREAD. MY ENGINE NOW SPUTTERS AND SHUDDERS WHEN UNDER PRESSURE/ ACCELERATION. CEL HAS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. I'M STUCK: CAN'T GET PARTS TO REPAIR, CAN'T SELL/ TRADE IT WITH THIS ISSUE, GROWING MORE CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING IT. HELP PLEASE.

DODGE RAM 1500 2011. CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. WHENEVER I WOULD GO OVER 2K RPMS OR 70MPH THE TRUCK WOULD SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER AND RESTART MY VEHICLE FOR THE PROBLEM TO GO AWAY. ON 2 LANE ROADS I WOULD OFTEN HOLD UP TRAFFIC BECAUSE I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. MANY TIMES, THIS PROBLEM MADE IT UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE. WHEN I WAS GOING 65MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY TRUCK WOULD START TO SHAKE AND SLOW DOWN TO 30 MPH I WAS ALMOST HIT A NUMBER OF TIMES. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHERE THEY CHANGED THE SPARK PLUG AND COIL WITH NO FIX. TOOK IT TO A MOPAR SHOP WHERE THEY ALSO CHANGED THE COIL. THIS RAN FINE FOR ABOUT 10 MILES THEN THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. I TOOK IT BACK TO MOPAR WHERE THEY WENT MORE IN DEPTH AND FOUND THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE LIFTER/ROLLER AND CAM. THE LIFTER GOT STUCK AND MADE A GROVE IN THE CAM. I COULD REPLACE THEM FOR 4.5K OR REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR 8K. WITH ALL THE METAL FLOATING IN MY ENGINE FROM THE CAM, I AM GOING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS ABSURD FOR RAM TO HAVE NOT COMMENTED ON THIS PROBLEM OR FINE A RECALL. THEY ARE AFRAID THEY WILL LOSE MONEY AND LOSE INVESTORS BECAUSE THIS FIX IS NOT CHEAP. IT IS RIDICULOUS FOR A "REPUTABLE" TRUCK LIKE RAM TO HAVE THIS ISSUE AND NOT GIVE A SOLUTION.

RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE, I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS OF OTHER RAMS WITH THE 5.7L HEMI ENGINE. WHEN THE LIFTER FAILS, IT IS KNOWN TO BORE INTO THE CAMSHAFT, CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE ENGINE. THE REPAIR COSTS AN AVERAGE OF $3200 WITH SOME GOING UP TO $4,000. CHYSLER MECHANICS KNOW THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE BUT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO DO RIGHT BY THEIR CUSTOMERS.

WHILE TRAVELING ON A MAJOR PAVED ROADWAY I PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE UP A LARGE HILL. ONCE MY VEHICLE CRESTED THE HILL, MY VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING CONSIDERABLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AND USING A SCAN TOOL WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER #2. DUE TO THE VEHICLES MILEAGE I CHOSE TO REPLACE ALL THE SPARK PLUGS. AFTER DOING SO I CLEARED THE PREVIOUS LISTED CODE AND DROVE THE TRUCK DOWN THE ROAD. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I AGAIN DROVE IT BACK TO MY HOUSE AND AFTER SCANNING FOR CODES LEARNED THE CYLINDER 2 WAS STILL MISFIRING. I THEN PURCHASED A NEW COIL THINKING THIS WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. I AGAIN CLEARED THE CODE AND DROVE MY VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD. NO SUCH LUCK. I THEN PULLED THE VALVE COVER OVER THE NUMBER 2 CYLINDER AND LEARNED THAT THE ROCKER ARM DID NOT HAVE THE SAME RANGE OF MOTION WHEN I TURNED THE MOTOR OVER AS THE OTHER ROCKERS DID. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH ONLINE I LEARNED THAT OTHER 5.7L HEMI OWNERS SEEM TO HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE AND IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THE CAM ROLLERS SEIZE AND WEAR AWAY A GROVE IN THE CAMSHAFT. I BELIEVE THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE MOTOR AND I AM NOT SURE WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED.

AFTER EXPENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES HAD BEEN ADMINISTERED, THE MECHANICS FOUND THAT ONE OF THE LIFTER ARMS HAD SEIZED. THE SEIZED LIFTER ARM CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO OTHER PARTS OF THE ENGINE INCLUDING THE CAMSHAFT LOBE ON CYLINDER 2, AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ONLINE, I FOUND THAT LIFTERS FAILING CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE CAMSHAFT IS A COMMON ISSUE ONLY ON THE 2011 RAM 1500 TRUCKS. MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON 2011 RAM 1500 TRUCKS, AND EACH ONE HAS HAD A LIFTER SEIZURE CAUSE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE CAMSHAFT. AT THIS POINT, MY ONLY OPTION IS TO REPLACE ALL THE LIFTERS, VALVE SPRINGS, CAMSHAFT, AND HAVE EACH HEADER INSPECTED TO ENSURE NO FURTHER DAMAGE HAS OCCURRED. IN TOTAL THIS WILL COST ANYWHERE FROM $2000 TO $3000 OUT OF POCKET FOR PARTS AND MECHANICAL SERVICES. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR A LIFTER TO SEIZE ON A TRUCK WITH 70,000 MILES THAT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED REGULARLY. IN ADDITION, THERE IS NO REASON FOR MORE THAN 50 OWNERS OF THE SAME TRUCK TO HAVE THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS KIND OF ISSUE TO REPLACE BAD LIFTERS WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CAMSHAFT AT FAIRLY LOW MILEAGE. I CANNOT FULLY EXPRESS MY DISAPPOINTMENT AND FRUSTRATION IN DODGE AS A COMPANY FOR IGNORING THE COMPLAINTS OF THEIR HARDWORKING CUSTOMERS. THE ONLY OPTION I SEE IS A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION REGARDING A BAD BATCH OF LIFTERS IN 2011 DODGE RAM 1500 TRUCKS, AND A REFUND/COMPENSATION TO THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR LOSSES THEY MAY HAVE HAD WHEN REPLACING LIFTERS, CAMSHAFTS, ETC.

I HAVE HAD MANY OLD DODGE TRUCKS AND EVEN A 2007 RAM WHICH ALWAYS HAD OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND THAT NEVER BURNED THROUGH SO MUCH OIL. THIS HAPPENS AS I DRIVE AND NEVER ONCE DOES IT SAY LOW OIL, THE ONLY REASON I FIGURED IT OUT IS I AM MECHANICALLY INCLINE AND OBSERVED THE OIL PRESSURE DROP DOWN TO 14PS ON THE TRUCKS INFORMATION CONSOL. ALSO THE TRUCK HAD GONE INTO A MODE WHERE THE THROTTLE DID NOT RESPOND AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT DOWN SHIFT. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND MY ENGINE DIED. I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANE AND MY TRUCK CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. ENGINE CRANKED, BUT WOULD NOT START. THE TIPM OUR DODGE TRUCK IS FAULTY. IT HAS ISSUES STARTING, THE LIGHTS WILL STOP WORKING, THE LIGHTS ON DASH COME ON, THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE OIL JUST DISAPPEARING, THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ONLINE AND SAW THAT SEVERAL VEHICLES UNDER CHRYSLER AND DODGE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH FAULTY TIPM AND THERE WAS EVEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT,BUT THE NHTSA FELT THERE WASN'T ENOUGH OF AN ISSUE WITH THE DODGE RAMS TO PUSH FOR A RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE PUSHED FOR A RECALL. THIS ISSUE IS OCCURRING IN A LOT OF RAMS AND THEY ARE PASSED THE WARRANTY AND WHEN YOU PURCHASE A NEW WARRANTY THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED. ALL EXPENSES ARE PAID OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER AND DODGE HAVE BEEN AWARE OF FOR YEARS. OUR DODGE RAM HAS BEEN AT THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES WITH ISSUES AND THEY DID NOT TELL US ONCE ABOUT THE TIPM ISSUES. WE HAD TO FIGURE IT OUT OURSELVES WITH INTERNET RESEARCH. A CUSTOMER SHOULD NOT BE PAYING CLOSE TO OR OVER $2,000 OUT OF POCKET TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURING COMPANY NEW WAS A DEFECT OR FAULTY. AFTER DOING A QUICK SEARCH I FOUND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE SAME ENGINE IN THE SAME YEAR BUT ONLY IF ITS IN A CHARGER, CHALLENGER OR A 300(THE RECALL IS CALLED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION P01, SEE ATTACHED) . THE FAILURE I EXPERIENCED IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CARS. I WAS DOING HIGHWAY SPEED IN FUEL SAVING MODE AND WHEN THE ENGINE AUTOMATICALLY KICKS INTO 8 CYLINDER MODE THE TIMING CHAIN BRAKES. MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE DEALER TELLS ME THE ENGINE IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL BECAUSE ITS IN A TRUCK NOT A CAR. WHEN THE CHAIN BREAKS IN ONE OF THESE ENGINES IT COMPLETELY DESTROYS THE PISTONS AND VALVES. I NEED NEW ENGINE! WHILE DRIVING ON A 2 LANE ROAD AT 50 MPH APPROX SPEED, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES BECAME EXTREMELY STIFF, BUT I WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE TRUCK TO SHOULDER. AFTER STOPPING, I PUT IT IN PARK, THE KEY WAS STILL IN ON POSITION; TURNED KEY AND ENGINE STARTED. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK FOR 45 DAYS AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE AT TOTALLY RANDOM TIMES. I AM VERY FORTUNATE I WAS ON A ROAD WITHOUT MUCH TRAFFIC. HAD I BEEN IN A STEERING, PASSING OR OTHER SITUATION, I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT I LEARNED FROM INTERNET THAT THIS IS A FREQUENT COMPLAINT OF RAM OWNERS AND OTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT VEHICLE OWNERS, AND THAT A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR CERTAIN CHRYSLER VEHICLES ALREADY. THE FAULTY PART WAS THE TIPM MODULE. THERE IS ALSO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN PROCESS INVOLVING OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES NOT YET RECALLED, INCLUDING THE MODEL I OWN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER, AND THEY COULD NOT POSITIVELY IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. THEY WOULD NOT AGREE TO REPLACE TIPM EVEN THOUGH I'M UNDER WARRANTY, BUT INSTEAD WANTED TO DO SOFTWARE UPDATES ON SEVERAL "MODULES" AND SAID IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN, I SHOULD BRING IT BACK. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! I CALLED RAM CUSTOMER CARE AND EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS AND THAT I CANNOT ACCEPT A SOFTWARE UPDATE IN THE HOPE IT FIXES IT GIVEN THE TIPM HISTORY OF THESE VEHICLES. THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO DIAGNOSTIC "CODES" PRESENT, SO THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE TIPM. THEY THEN ADMITTED THAT A FAULTY TIPM WOULD NOT PRODUCE ANY CODES, BUT AGAIN SAID THEY NEEDED TO RULE OUT A SOFTWARE ISSUE FIRST BY TRIAL AND ERROR AND REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIPM EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO WAY TO DIAGNOSE IF IT WAS FAULTY. MY SON IS DRIVING THIS TRUCK TO COLLEGE, AND I AM NOT ABOUT TO RISK HIM BEING KILLED IN THIS VEHICLE SO I WAS FORCED TO PAY $1,350 FOR A NEW TIPM. RAM NEEDS TO RECALL THESE IMMEDIATELY.

IT STOPPED AND HAS NOT RE-OCCURRED IN ALMOST 20,000 MILES. IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER OF THIS YEAR THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT INTO A HIGH ENGINE REV FOR NO APPARENT REASON (LIKE I WAS PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL BUT I WAS NOT). EACH TIME THIS OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELLERATE AND I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL, I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED OF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT NORMALLY. IT FUNCTIONED NORMALLY AFTER RESTART. HOWEVER, DURING THE SEARCH FOR ANY PROBLEMS WITH A 5.7 L HEMI ENGINE, I NOTICED THE FOLLOWING RECALL AND WAS CURIOS AS TO WHY MY RAM 1500 WAS NOT INCLUDED: THIS RECALL COVERS A SPECIFIC BUILD PERIOD. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER RESETTING THE KEY, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND THE WIN MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE HAD PREVIOUS PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS WITH ENGINE AND ETC BOLT LIGHT ON DASH, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO GO IN LIMP MODE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THAT THE TRUCK HAD TO BE RESET. ON SEPT 21/2012 THE ETC BOLT LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN CITY DRIVING CONDITIONS. WHEN I SLOWED DOWN FOR TRAFFIC USING THE BRAKE I LET OFF THE BRAKE AND BEFORE I COULD DO ANYTHING THE TRUCK RACED OFF ON ITS OWN ALMOST CAUSING A ACCIDENT WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING THE GAS, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ON. I TURNED OFF KEY AND DANGEROUSLY COASTED TO THE SIDE OF ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AND RE STARTED THE TRUCK. AT THIS POINT I HAD ONLY ENGINE LIGHT SO I TOOK IT TO DEALER. THEY REPLACED GAS PEDAL AND RESET IT. THE TRUCK ALWAYS SCARED ME AFTER THIS. AFTER HAVING THE GAS PEDAL REPLACED A FEW MONTHS LATER, NOW 4/11/2013 THE ETC BOLT LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AT CITY SPEEDS AS I SLOWED FOR TRAFFIC , WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE THE TRUCK SPEED UP VERY FAST WITHOUT EVER USING CRUISE CONTROL OR TOUCHING THE GAS. I ALMOST RAN A RED LIGHT, HAD TO SMASH THE BRAKE DOWN HOLDING STEERING WHEEL TIGHT TO STOP THE TRUCK AFTER TURNING KEY OFF. I THEN RESTARTED IT I PUT IT IN DRIVE. WHEN I LET OFF BRAKE THE TRUCK TOOK OFF LIKE HECK, ALMOST LIKE IT WAS FLOORED ON ITS OWN. THE CAR DEALER CALLED THE FOR ADVICE ON THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. THEY THEN REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. I WAS LETTING OFF GAS TO SLOW DOWN SO I COULD TRY SHUTTING TRUCK OFF TO RESET COMPUTER SO I COULD GET IT TO DEALER. WHEN I LET OFF GAS THE TRUCK WAS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN SO I HELD BRAKE DOWN AND LET UP ON BRAKE TO INCH FORWARD TO GET ALL THE WAY OFF ROAD WHEN IT ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN LIKE IT WAS FLOORED. I STOPPED AND PUT IT IN PARK. IN PARK THE ENGINE WAS RACING AT 3000 RPM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS FAULTY SYSTEM.I HAD TAKEN IT TO DEALER AND THEY RESET IT SAYING WHEN THEY CALLED FACTORY THEY WERE TOLD TO RESET IT. IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN MAY BE WIRE HARNESS. AFTER PASSING A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, MY TRUCK SHUT DOWN.THE ENGINE CUT OFF ,DASH LIGHTS AND PARK LIGHT STARTED TO FLICKER ERRATICALLY AND THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OFF. I MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IN ORDER TO STOP THE LIGHTS FROM FLICKERING I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY (THEY FLICKERED WITH THE SWITCH IN THE OFF POSITION). AS THE LIGHTS FLICKERED I COULD HEAR RELAYS CLICKING UNDER THE HOOD AND DASH. AFTER WAITING A WHILE I RECONNECTED THE BATTERY AND ALL SYSTEMS CAME BACK ON AND I WAS ABLE TO START THE TRUCK AND DRIVE IT HOME. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHECK IT OUT UNTIL WED THE 18.
