My truck for several years has intermittently turned off all safety features and steering control, i.e. air bags, traction control, anti lock breaks, and power steering all turn off randomly which in turn disables the cruise control, towing functions, etc. In the past I could turn the truck off then back on and the problems would dissappear, Now the problem has escalated and is occurring at shorter intervals now turning it off doesn't work and its getting dangerous. There is various recalls for these problems with same make and years model trucks, but mine is not included. I've tried contacting the dealer but they basically say sorry we can't help you unless your truck is added to the recall list. It's just not right that 1000's of vehicles the exact same as mine have been recalled for the exact same problems but not mine. Thanks for your time!
My 2013 Ram 1500 has had issues with the horn not working when the middle of the steering wheel is pushed but sounds when the key fob is used to lock doors. The EVIC control on the steering wheel would also not work. This started in 2018 where the problem was intermittent. This was part of recall R36 where the rubbing of the steering wheel harness on the retainer springs could cause an electrical short and or inadvertent air bag deployment. I took my vehicle to Bill Volz WestchesterDodge, Cortland Manor, NY for the recall on 10-19-15 with 18,205 miles. I feel the work wasn’t done properly because the problem reoccurred in less than 3 years and about 6,000 miles later. The horn and EVIC has not worked in over 7 months. My concern is that I could be driving on a major interstate when my vehicle airbag deploys causing a crash. I contacted Chrysler customer service on 1-13-2025 and spoke to a representative. That person called me back on 1-14-2025 and stated that he referred my case #[XXX] , to a specialist who would contact me in 2-3 business days. As of 2-2-2025 I have not received any response from Chrysler customer service. I need assistance in correcting this safety issue. See attachments. My vechile service airbag system light keep coming on when driving. I check my my storage memory on the cluster and there is nothing stored. I took it to auto zone where they hook up the computer and everything check out good. they said check to see if there a recall on it since everything check out and it is a saftely issue.

The contact stated that after the recall repair, the Cruise Control would inadvertently activate or deactivate intermittently. The contact stated the remedy included tying and rerouting the wires so that other essential wiring could not disconnect and cause additional failures. The owner informed the contact that the speedometer failed intermittently, and the transmission failed to shift properly while driving. The contact stated that the failures had become more persistent over time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness inside the steering wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle serviced 1 time by Goodyear location 164 W 7th AVE Eugene OR 97401 (541)343-2501 service date Oct. 5th 2023 following service was performed; Replace Resistor Spark Plug, Spark plug- Iridium OE Exact plug, R&R Spark plugs, R&R spark plugs Ignition Coil set, Intake manifold set, cleared codes. Ongoing issues; unresolved by services performed 1.Check engine light 2.Airbag light 3.Hot temp light 4.Power train light 5.Parking brake does not work properly and will roll if not parked on a level surface 6.Master switch driver control will stop working unless I pop it out of the control panel disconnect it and reconnect it. 7.Defrost does not work properly in which makes it hard to see when driving and there is moisture building inside the cabin creating mold which is a health concern. 8.Vehicle will switch into different gears while driving when brake pedal has not been applied or used. 9.Vehicle sometimes shakes and stalls in drive and reverse.

The airbag light turns on and beeps. The truck is available for inspection. A dealership told us it was the sensors that have gone bad. It is odd that all the sensors would go bad all at one time. Concern is if there is an accident, the air bags will not go off as intended. There is also concern that the airbags could go off while driving. Also it is beeping often while driving and it is distracting. There are no other issues. But we see that there has been recalls in the past over airbag systems on this truck. We are very concerned since the truck carries very precious cargo.

Air bag light came up. Headed to nearest mechanic he said there was a recall on airbags for this type of vehicle. Made an appointment on dealer. On my way engine light came up and vehicle started shaking
The contact owned a 2013 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 60-65 MPH on the highway, he crashed head-on into a culvert. The driver side air bag failed to deploy, and the front driver’s side seat belt failed to retract. A police report was filed. The ambulance arrived on scene and transported the driver to the hospital where he suffered from a chipped and fractured vertebrae. The driver was the only occupant at the time of the failure. The vehicle was deemed totaled. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot where the insurance company was retrieving the vehicle from. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Air suspension system fails and allows the vehicle to drop to the suspension stops. This results in a very rough and unlevel ride. As there is no cushion in this condition the vehicle bounces horribly at road and bridge seams. Very unsafe...

The contact stated that although the airbag warning lights illuminated the instrument panel; however, the airbags failed to deploy. The contact was taken to the hospital where he was treated for the soreness to his back. The other driver was able to walk away from the accident and appeared to not be injured. A police report was filed at the scene (DIV421070591). Due to the accident, the vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard and was deemed a total loss. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there was a recall on the vehicle(recall unknown); however, he was informed that the recall was not related to the airbag failure. Front end impact during a traffic collision failed to actuate the airbags resulting in a neck/upper back injury. The collision occurred at approx. 35-40mph into another car (broadside collision).
BEEN EXPERIENCING A 'SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM' ACROSS MY INFO SCREEN ALONG WITH AN ANNOYING TONE. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING, PARKED, AS WELL AS ALL FORWARD AND REVERSE GEARS. TODAY WAS THE FIRST OPPORTUNITY I HAD TO GET THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. FOUND THAT THE AIRBAG IN THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT HAS A FAULTY CIRCUIT. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE & SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER.

THE CONTACT VEERED OFF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING THE FRONT DRIVER TIRE, LOWER BALL JOINT SEPARATED FROM THE STEERING KNUCKLE, INNER TIE ROD END, SHOCK ASSEMBLY AND LOWER CONTROL ARM TO DETACH. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE STEERING RESUMED TO NORMAL BUT DUE TO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DAMAGE, IT NEEDED TO BE TOWED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN HIM. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HIT HIS FACE AND WRIST AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL AND WINDSHIELD GLASS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED HE WOULD BE GOING TO THE HOSPITAL FOR HIS INJURIES. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. MY VEHICLE IS PROMPTING A WARNING SIGN ON THE DASH SCREEN STATING "SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM". SINCE IT STARTED, THE SCREEN ON MY DASH STARTED GLITCHING A FEW MINUTES WHILE DRIVING OR IDLING, THEN IT'LL PROMPT THE WARNING STATEMENT AGAIN. ON 05/28/2019 RECALL'S (T61, T79, U53) WHERE ALL PERFORMED ON MY 2013 DODGE RAM 1500 PICKUP TRUCK BY THE WHITTEN BROTHERS DEALERSHIP LOCATED AT: 10701 MIDLOTHIAN TURNPIKE, RICHMOND, VA 23235 PHONE# (804) 378-0707. BEFORE PICKING UP MY VEHICLE THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO NOTIFY ME OF A GLITCH WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYING IN THE ON POSITION AND THE SECOND ISSUE HAD THE SERVICE AIRBAG COMING ON RANDOMLY. THEY SAID IT COULD BE FIXED BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY. I DIDN'T AGREE TO THIS DUE TO NONE OF THESE ISSUES WERE OCCURRING PRIOR TO MY VISIT. ALSO, NOTIFIED THEM I HAD WORKED PREVIOUSLY FOR NHTSA AND KNEW THE RECALLS PERFORMED SHOULD HAVE CLEARED OUT ALL THE WARNINGS AND IF NOT THEY NEEDED TO GO BACK AND FIX THEM. I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR THE RECALL ON THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE, THE LIGHT WOULD COME ON ALL THE TIME. IT WAS TOOKEN CARE OF ON 07/16/ 2018, AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. 9 MONTHS L;ATER IT CAME BACK ON.I TOOK MY TRUCK BACK IN ON 04/29/2019. THE ADVISOR FOR HOBLIT CHRYSLER, BY THE NAME OD MARIO PORTILLO 017155 CALLED ME AND SAID IT WOULD COST $550 TO REPAIR AND HE SAID IT WAS NOT THE SELT BELT RESTRAIN.I SAID NO I'AM NOT PAYING, AND THAT I WAS COMING TO GET MY TTRUCK. I NOTICE THAT THE LIKE WAS OFF AND HE DIDN'T STATE IN THE REPORT. THIS AIRBAG SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. THE THIRD TIME I TOOK IT TO BOZEMAN THEY CHARGED ME 270 DOLLARS TO FILL THE AIRBAGS WITH NITROGEN AND ON THE WAY HOME THE IMMEDIATE SERVICE REQUIRED FOR SUSPENSION SERVICE REQUIRED. WE TRIED TO SLOW DOWN AND RAISE AIRBAGS AND IT WOULD NOT WORK. WE CANNOT LOWER OR MAKE OUR VEHICLE RISE. THE VEHICLE SITS OVERNIGHT AND WE COME OUT AND THE BAGS ARE DEFLATED. THE TURN SIGNALS WERE WORKING INTERMITTINGLY THE LAST TIME THEY WERE USED. ONCE THE RIGHT HAND TURN WAS COMPLETED, AND BEGAN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE DRIVERS STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG DEPLOYED. ONCE THE VEHICLE CONTROL WAS REGAINED IT WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF. THE AIRBAG LOOKED TO HAVE BURN HOLE IN IT AND THERE WAS THE SMELL SIMILAR TO PLASTIC MELTING. THE KEY WAS TURNED BACK ON AND AT THAT TIME NO TURN SIGNALS WOULD WORK AND THE WIPERS WOULD NOT STOP OPERATING. ALTHOUGH THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND DIVERTED ATTENTION WHEN IT WENT OFF, IT DID NOT FULLY INFLATE EITHER. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND THEY RECOMMENDED FILING A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER. SINCE THE DEALER WAS ONLY A COUPLE MILES AWAY, THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THEM. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THEY ADVISED THAT THE DEALER IS NOT TO TOUCH IT UNTIL AN INVESTIGATOR CONTACTS THEM, AND THAT I WILL BE PROVIDED AN ALTERNATE SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS ADVISED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND IT WAS IN THE HANDS OF A DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT THAT I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO CONTACT. AFTER NUMEROUS REQUESTS TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR AND THE ALTERNATE DEPARTMENT, I WAS FINALLY CONTACTED BY MR. KON OF SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS ON AUGUST 15TH. HE ADVISED THAT THERE WILL BE NO TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED UNLESS CHRYSLER DETERMINES THAT THEY ARE AT FAULT FOR THIS. HE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY TIMELINE AS TO WHEN SOMEONE WOULD BE ABLE LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. I TURN AROUND AND GO BACK TO THE SALESMAN. HE SAYS HE'LL FIX IT BY RESETTING THE BATTERY. I TELL HIM THAT'S TEMPORARY UNTIL THE COMPUTER RELEARNS THE ISSUE. HE TELLS US IF IT DOES HE'LL TAKE CARE OF IT AND WE CAN HAVE IT SERVICED AT ANY DODGE DEALER. IT CAME ON ON THE 100 MILE DRIVE HOME. I TOOK IT IN TO A DEALER IN CHELSEA , MI. THEY COULDN'T FIND THE AIRBAG FAULT AS THE LIGHT MYSTERIOUSLY WENT OFF. ONE DAY AFTER PICKING UP THE TRUCK, THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES BACK ON. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE AT THIS POINT TO TRY AND GET THIS RESOLVED. THEY GIVE ME A HARD TIME AND TELL ME I'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FIX. I'VE CALLED THEM PROBABLY 15-20 TIMES TO GET THIS RESOLVED WITHOUT ME PAYING AN ARM AND A LEG FOR SOMETHING THEY SHOULD HAVE FIXED WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. I EVEN TOOK IT IN FOR A SEPERATE AIRBAG RECALL HOPING IT WOULD FIX IT. THE DEALER DIDN'T EVEN TELL ME WHAT THEY FIXED, INSTEAD THEY SAID IF I WANT THAT AIRBAG ISSUE FIXED THEY FIRST NEED TO DIAGNOSE IT TO THE TUNE OF $125.00 PLUS REPAIR COSTS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, MY "SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM" LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND IS STILL ON UNTIL I SELL THE TRUCK I GUESS. WHEN I SAID THEY WERE JUST FINED 105 MILLION FOR NOT HANDLING RECALLS/ AIRBAG ISSUES, THEY JUST SAID SO WHAT. I SAID SO YOU DON'T CARE IF I HAVE LOADED GUN AT MY FACE THAT COULD GO OFF AT ANY TIME....THEY SAID THEY RECOMMEND I DON'T DRIVE IT UNTIL IT'S FIXED....THEY REALLY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFETY.

I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN PREPARING TO CROSS A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. ONCE I DETERMINED IT WAS CLEAR I BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY FROM THE STOP SIGN WHEN SUDDENLY A SOUTH BOUND CAR ENTERED THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT IT'S LIGHTS ON AND COLLIDED WITH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. AT THE POINT OF IMPACT, THE SOUTH BOUND CAR WAS TRAVELING AT LEAST 45 MPH AND MY VEHICLE HAD MERELY ROLLED AWAY FROM THE STOP SIGN AND I SLAMMED ON MY BREAKS JUST PRIOR TO IMPACT. I WAS NOT TRAVELING MORE THAN 5 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLES COLLIDED. ONCE BOTH VEHICLES HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP I REALIZED I HAD STRUCK THE BACK OF MY HEAD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW EXTREMELY HARD BUT NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT HAD TAKEN PLACE. THERE WAS SO MUCH FORCE IN THE IMPACT THAT THE FRAME ON MY VEHICLE WAS BENT. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS CITED IN THE ACCIDENT ANY MY VEHICLE SUSTAINED $16,000 IN DAMAGE.
