According to Ferman Dodge of New Port Richey, Florida an electronic brake sensor is apparently an issue and my local dealer says they do not have a fix. Therefore, my cruise control, sway stability and my ABS brake lights are lit up all the time. Limiting the safety features of the vehicle.
The ABS light, traction control light, parking brake light are on and the info center says “ Service Electronic Brake/Service ABS” I hooked up my OBDII reader and get code “C2200-49 Anti-lock Brake Module Internal - Internal Electronic Failure“ I have researched exhaustingly and this is a common problem and the part is no longer made. The safety of my truck is impacted AND I cannot fix it. I have checked 3 fuses and verified they are good. Seeing as how this is a common problem with the 2013-2018 Rams I feel this is something Ram needs to address.
My truck has an open N37 recall which affects the electronic stability control and causes the esc light, service abs system light and brake light symbols to illuminate, my local dealership has attempted to perform this safety recall however they have indicated they attempted to flash the software to the module but were unable to do so due to the defective/non communicating abs module. This is a crucial issue as the n37 recall rectifies issues with the Electonic Stability Control on my truck which may inadvertently illuminate the esc warning light and disable the ESC system as a result, loss of the ESC function could adversely affect the vehicles handling characteristics and cause a crash without warning. I have reached out to Ram customer care, but they are refusing to replace the defective module in order to cover the n37 recall indicating it's an out-of-pocket expense which is unreasonable. The n37 recall explicitly states the recall will cover parts and labor, the module isn't able to be flashed as the dealer's diagnostic machine isn't communicating with it, which is a hardware issue. Ram is refusing to comply and replace the abs module in order to rectify the safety recall.
Component or system that failed / malfunctioned The brake system (pads, calipers, hydraulic fluid) failed three times in less than 90 days. The right-side tie rod end also separated from the steering assembly. Both components are available for inspection upon request. How safety was put at risk The brakes repeatedly lost all stopping power while driving, with the pedal going to the floor and the reservoir emptying within minutes. On one occasion, the brake pads and caliper fell off the wheel assembly, confirmed by the dealer’s own shop manager. The tie rod failure caused uneven tire wear and a highway blowout, forcing an emergency tow. These issues placed me, my child, and other drivers at risk of a serious crash. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center? Yes. Premier Auto (the dealer’s affiliated garage) confirmed and attempted repairs three times. On the third visit, the shop manager (Mike) stated that the brake pads were so low they had fallen off, causing the calipers to overextend and leak. Has the vehicle/component been inspected by others? Yes. Premier Auto inspected and repaired the brakes multiple times. Dobbs Tire & Auto later inspected after the blowout and diagnosed additional electrical issues. Documentation, invoices, and photos are available. Were there warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms? The brake warning light illuminated and the pedal sank to the floor during failures. No prior warning lamps appeared before the tie rod separation or blowout. The failures occurred suddenly while driving.

My ABS, Traction Control, and BRAKES light illuminated while driving. I used an OBD2 scanner to check for any alarms or issues and found out my ABS Control Module has an internal fault. The part has been discontinued and the replacement is on backorder for more than a year. The only fix I have been able to find is using third party repair or out having a refurbished part from anonymous sellers online with no guarantee of it working. This issue impacts the anti-lock braking system, the stability control, and cruise control functionality of my vehicle.
Front brakes: on July 30 2025 the right front brakes caused the truck to pull and shimmy to the right at speed. Touch the brake and it pulled hard to the right so bad you had to turn the steering wheel to about the ten o’clock position to go straight then when letting off the brakes you had to be quick to turn the other way. Seems the brakes are not releasing after use and over heating, I had a laser temp over *450 in the wheel and hub area. This happened last year to the driver’s side and I had to replace the brake assembly on that side. Maybe the tolerances in each piston is to close so when hot they stick and over heat. This is on a truck with 17K miles. On forum’s people suggest that the brake lines are collapsing which might be the issue. This model truck has the air ride suspension so the overheating could cause a air bladder to blow or a bearing to degrease with a wheel lock up at speed. Thanks,,
I was driving the beltway when out of nowhere my abs, brake, and traction control lights came on. Of course I immediately panicked and then had to slam my brakes on which no longer worked and caused me to slide. Luckily I was able to pull to the side. This is my only vehicle and the wait list for a new abs module is insane. How am I supposed to drive specifically with my kid in the car.
Driving down the road and abs, srs and traction control light came on at the stop sign after that brake pedal pulsating during a normal stop on dry pavement was told it was the abs control module
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while coasting to an idle stop at a red light, the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the ABS module had failed. The dealer still had not received the part due to the part being on back order. After having the vehicle diagnosed while driving approximately 75 mph, and coming to slowed traffic, the contact attempted to decelerate. Suddenly, another vehicle cut in front of them, and the contact slammed the brake pedal down. The left front tire seized, causing the vehicle to spin counterclockwise. The left front side of the truck hit a nearby guardrail. The vehicle continued to spin, causing damage to the front-end and rear-end. The air bag did not deploy. The contact was able to maneuver the vehicle to safety. The contact was able to continue driving after restarting the vehicle at their home. There were no injuries. No medical attention was needed. No police report was filed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer after the incident occurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Electronic power steering has completely stopped all at once. 102000 miles on the truck. It’s also had an issue with the abs brake system.
My truck for several years has intermittently turned off all safety features and steering control, i.e. air bags, traction control, anti lock breaks, and power steering all turn off randomly which in turn disables the cruise control, towing functions, etc. In the past I could turn the truck off then back on and the problems would dissappear, Now the problem has escalated and is occurring at shorter intervals now turning it off doesn't work and its getting dangerous. There is various recalls for these problems with same make and years model trucks, but mine is not included. I've tried contacting the dealer but they basically say sorry we can't help you unless your truck is added to the recall list. It's just not right that 1000's of vehicles the exact same as mine have been recalled for the exact same problems but not mine. Thanks for your time!
Faulty abs control modules. Widespread problem after doing some research. Abs control module fails and sets off abs and traction control lights on the dash. Hasn't caused any incidents yet. But losing anti lock brakes could potentially cause a lock up and cause an incident in the future. Could be very problematic during winter conditions.
On multiple occasions I have had the tailgate come open/fail to close. Other year Rams have a recall and I believe this year should be included. I have installed a gas shock to help slow it and hold in place. The front brakes have had issues with sticking or not releasing after applying them. I have replaced the unit and does the same thing so I like others believe it might be the brake hose collapsing then releasing especially on the air ride suspension models. In stop and go traffic they will pull or get extremely hot and I’m worried it might melt the tire bead or worse.

All at once I have an ABS , Brake, Traction Control on instrument panel illuminated.Service Trailer Brake diagnostic message. Will not set cruise. 06/03/24. Am not driving for fear of failure and presently cannot afford diagnostic repairs. Just turned 100,000 miles and is not used for daily uses. Cannot believe a failure of this magnitude happened with very low mileage
Service Electronic Braking System, ABS, and traction control lights are all firing. Mechanic diagnosed failed ABS module but Ram dealers in my area (Birmingham, AL) have confirmed the part is not available and can not give me a estimated timeframe for repair. This renders my vehicle unsafe to use while I wait on a part Ram is unable or unwilling to provide. Another mechanic gave me the same story and my limited research shows this has been going on for at least 3 years. Dealerships are taking the few available parts for warranties I assume, leaving local mechanics and older vehicles unable to obtain the necessary parts for safe operation which is unacceptable and creates unnecessary danger.
Complete failure of power steering and also ABS has misfunctioned.
In October of 2023, our vehicle was brought into Matt Bowers Dodge, in Baton Rouge, LA, with a MIL and trouble code that indicated an issue with the brakes. The dealer diagnosed the need for a new ABS Control Module (P/N 68210719AB) and ordered it at that time. We were told the vehicle is unsafe to drive in its current condition. The part has been on order for over nine months. When we inquire as to the delay, we are told that the delay is "due to the part undergoing engineering review".
Malfunctioned ABS module. ABS , ESP, and trailer brake control not working. When ABS or ESP would be activated an error occurs and truck goes into neutral with neutral light blinking on shifter. ABS did not activate and almost hit a deer. ESP did not activate and almost spun into ditch. Working with dealer currently to confirm.
Power steering stopped working with no warning as the truck was being driven up a busy Highway at 65 MPH. Lost momentary control of the truck but was able to pull over and turn it off without incident. When it was restarted the engine light came on with an error message popping up. It was on a very busy highway but we were able to limp it home, going miles under the speed limit with emergency flashers on for safety. It is very hard to steer and the brakes do not seem to be working correctly now. After starting it again today to see if its still giving an error, another light is on regarding the ABS system and the power steering is not working at all. The truck is not safe to drive as and the problem has been confirmed by a local dealership and the truck is on a waiting list to see about further diagnostics & repairs. It is available for inspection at any time.
ABS MODULE has gone bad. Only the dealer can replace it. This has been an issue for years with this part. My truck has only 80,000 miles on it. Talked with a fellow the other day and the same thing with his truck with only 40,000 miles.
Driving during rainstorm, car in front slowed down so I pressed brakes they locked up and I spun around. Abs light and traction light were on.
Reduced braking efficiency, loss of speedometer, loss of cruise control, brake light stays on when not depressing the pedal, electric power steering assist not functioning. Check engine light on, abs light on, traction control light on.
Defective ABS moudule. been on waiting list for parts approx 2 years.
ABS system has failed and damaged the traction control module. Speedometer does not work and brake lights stay on constantly. Power steering assist does not work. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer and cannot get the parts to fix these issues.
My abs control computer has failed. No abs/esc or cruise control. Dodge says the controller is on engineering hold and will not be available until March of 2024 at the earliest. This has been out since May. It is a safety issue that I need repaired. I cannot believe it has taken so long to get the part.
My ABS module is defective. My power steering goes, my ABS system lights come on and off. My braking comes and goes. I brought it to the dodge dealership and they said that dodge is remanufactifing the parts as it’s a huge issue they are having and said just to drive it or don’t but with no other help.
ABS brake Module was diagnosed by the dealership as having a short. I have random brake failure (no accidents to date), speedometer gauge does not work, odometer does not work, cruise control does not work, parking sensors do not work. Dealership told me that a replacement is not available until March of 2024.
Brake pedal will randomly have NO resistance and no brake activation, a quick second stroke usually gives full normal brakes with no fade or problems. Occasionally second and third stroke may not have brakes, but eventually come firm. I believe it's a power assist issue, several posts online referr to same issue.
Dealer confirmed faulty ABS unit module part #68210719AB on my 2013 Ram 1500 Big Horn. No antilock brake capability, no trailer brakes, no traction control and 4 dashboard warning lights on. Dealer went to order parts in April and FCA says it's on engineering hold until march 2024 at the earliest. I told FCA Ram Customer Care on multiple occasions that the truck in not useable and is a safety hazard. I contacted FCA in June and they wouldn't give me a case number and basically said it is what it is. Dealer can't do anything and has tried everything to find the part. I saw there was a class action lawsuit filed and multiple complaints about this very same issue, most notably with 2017-18 Ram 1500's but mine is a 2013 with same issues and same part #. I can't be expected to not have a vehicle for 11 months at best. Ram Customer care has not been helpful at all.
I parked at a house where I was doing a service call for a plumbing issue. The house has a 45 degree driveway. I killed the truck and I exited the vehicle and started my work inside. I needed my headlamp from the visor of the truck. I came out to the truck to get my headlamp. I put my right knee onto the driver seat and grabbed my headlamp. My elbow hit my shifter and my truck took off rolling backwards. I was able to get away from the truck, the truck jumped the curb across the street and came to a stop in an open grassy spot. I walked to the truck to see if I could tell what happened. The truck was not cranked at the time and I had the keys in my pocket. I tried to put the truck into park and couldn’t do so. I put the key into the ignition and turned the key so that I could put the truck into park and crank it. Couldn’t shift it up. I called my friend who is s master mechanic and he removed the steering wheel cover and pushed a yellow button down in which then he was able to shift it back into park. I drove the truck home which was very tough bc there was no longer any power steering. Very hard to do. I got the truck home and i haven’t used it because it no longer has assisted steering which was working fine before this happened.
The car is not breaking or driving and dangerous at times. Was taken to deer and the abs computer module was the issue. It’s been 4 months every abs module they’ve gotten from the company is programmed wrong. I went through 3. No parts are available nationwide. Hundreds if not thousands of dodge ram truck owners have the same parts issue the abs module stops working and cannot find another. Dodge has done nothing to address the situation the dealers are being forced to go on eBay and junkyards to get these modules - if dodge knows the part is breaking down in 70-80% of its cars after only 30-120k in miles have been put in they should have a recall and capability to manufacture said part.
My newly purchased vehicle was in the parked position, I took the key out of the car, the Gearshift was hit and the vehicle rolled down my hill in my backyard, hit a tree and was totaled. The Antilock brakes failed on me.

PURCHASE TRUCK FROM A1 IMPORTS AND DEALER SAID THAT HE DONE SAFETY AND HE WILL PROVIDE NEW TAG WITH SPARE WHEEL. WHEN I RECEIVED TRUCK AND NEXT DAY WHEN I CHECKED SPARE WHEEL, IT IS WAY BIGGER SPARE WHEEL THEN REGULAR 4 WHEEL. I DROVE 300 MILE AND BRAKE PAD FROM FRONT PASSENGER TOTALLY GONE AND DAMAGE FRONT PASSENGER ROTOR TO. WHEN I DID COMPLAIN ABOUT IT TO DEALER, HE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHINGS TO CHANGE AND I WENT THERE WITH NEW ROTOR AND BRAKE PAD SO HE JUST REPLACE IT. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK ON DEC-2-2020 AND I GOT TEMP TAG UNTIL JAN-2-2021 AND HE TOLD ME THAT I WILL GET MY ONE YEAR TAG IN MAIL WITHIN TIME BUT TILL TODAY IS 6-JAN-2021 AND STILL I AM WAITING FOR MY TAG. I HAVE BEEN TALKING WITH DEALER SINCE JAN-2 FROM EVERY DAY AND HE IS MAKING EXCUSE THAT HE WILL GET TOMORROW BUT HIS TOMORROW WILL NEVER COME YET. AND I AM NOT ABLE TO USE MY TRUCK SINCE 4 DAYS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED TO RELEASE AND THE CYLINDER WAS NOT RELEASING THE BRAKE FLUID. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE OVERHEATING AND PRODUCED A VERY STRONG BURNING ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN RELEASED A LITTLE BIT OF THE FLUID. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THE CONTACT CALLED HUNTINGTON BEACH CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (16701 BEACH BLVD, HUNTINGTON, CA 92647, (714) 841-3999) AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. ERROR SHOWED UP IN THE TRUCK. "SERVICE ABS SYSTEM" AND "SERVICE TOWING BRAKE". LOOKED INTO THIS AND IT SEEMS TO BE A REALLY COMMON ISSUE. THE ERROR OCCURED BY SIMPLY DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND NOT TOWING OR HAULING ANYTHING. ALSO, ONE ERROR FOR "4X4 TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE".

PURCHASE MY RAM 1500 WITH THE 5.7 IN LATE 2014. I HAVE PUT APPROX 78K MILES ON MY TRUCK AND NOTICES A CLICKING /KNOCKING NOISE AND LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER HAVE MY MECHANIC LOOK IT OVER, THE MOTOR IS HAVING CAM AND LIFTER PROBLEMS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE ONLINE . IN FACT, I NOW NOTICED SEVERAL OTHER RAM TRUCKS DRIVING BY ME IN PARKING LOTS, OR AT STOP LIGHTS THAT HAVE A FAINT VERSION OF WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING. I STARTED NOTICING THIS I LITTLE UPON STARTUP ONLY AND THEN IT BECAME SO BAD OUT OF THE BLUE THAT MY TRUCK STARTED RUNNING BAD AS IT GOT LOUD ENOUGH TO HEAR FROM IN THE CAB. I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY BEHIND 2 PARKED CARS. I STOPPED AND PUT MY TRUCK IN PARK AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE TRUCK REVVED UP AND WENT FORWARD, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THE TRUCK, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE TRUCK FROM RUNNING INTO THE 2 CARS. AS I KEPT PRESSING THE BRAKE THE TRUCK'S ENGINE WAS REVVING AND THE TIRES WERE BURNING RUBBER, I KEPT PRESSING THE BRAKE AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP IT WAS OUT OF CONTROL. THE TRUCK RAMMED INTO BOTH CARS PUSHING ONE OF THEM INTO THE SIDE OF THE NEIGHBOR'S YARD. ALL THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN PARK. I PULLED BACK TO REVERSE SO I COULD GET OFF THE CAR AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE TRUCK CONTINUED REVVING THIS TIME GOING IN REVERSE, AGAIN I KEPT PRESSING THE BRAKE, BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP IT WAS OUT OF CONTROL. IT WENT IN A HALF CIRCLE GOING INTO THE NEIGHBOR'S FRONT YARD KNOCKING DOWN A 6 INCH WALL, SOME BUSHES AND RUNNING INTO A TREE. THE TRUCK STOPPED AND TURNED OFF BY ITSELF AFTER HITTING THE WALL, THE BUSHES AND THE TREE. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED A LOT OF DAMAGE AND TOTALING ONE OF THE CARS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE TRUCK TO GO FORWARD WHILE IN PARK, THE BRAKES NOT TO WORK AND THE ENGINE REVVING UP. I BELIEVE THE PARTS AFFECTED ARE THE BRAKES, THE POWER TRAIN AND SPEED CONTROL.

WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY TRUCK SLOWS IT'S SELF DOWN AND THEN MY BREAKS LOCK UP. IF THE BREAKS ARE BLED IT CAN MOVE BUT WILL DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. THE ABS LIGHT,TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON. A DECODER ONLY BRING UP A CODE SAYING ABS. IF THE TRUCK SITS FOR A FEW DAYS THE BREAKS HAVE TO BE BLED OFF BEFORE IT CAN BE STARTED AS IT'S A PUSH BUTTON START.

BASED UPON THE RECALL DODGE HAS NOT HAD THE PART TO REPAIR IT. THIS LATEST RECALL IS T79, AND THE PREVIOUS 3 WERE: T25; R36; R23 ALL RECALLS ARE DUE TO SAFETY RELATED ISSUES ON MY RAM. THIS LATEST RECALL (T79) IS THE MOST CONCERNING, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE CAN ACTUALLY ROLL AWAY WHILE IN THE PARK POSITION, WITHOUT EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL OVER A FEW SECONDS OR POSSIBLE SHIFT ISSUES WHILE PARKING BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PURPOSELY DUPLICATE IT. ONCE AGAIN IT APPEARS THAT RAM OBVIOUSLY IS NOT CONCERNED WITH THE CONSUMERS SAFETY. WHETHER IT IS DEFECTIVE OR CHEAPLY MADE PARTS, THEY SHOULD BE MORE CONCERNED AND RESPONSIVE TO CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. I AM NOT WILLING TO PAY TO REPLACE ROTORS AND PAFS WITH ONLY 27000 MILES ON IIT. IN 2013 AND 2014 MY DODGE RAM WOULD HAVE THE CLUSTER PANEL COME ON WITH AIR BAG SERVICE NEEDED FIRST AND THEN THE REMAINING LIGHTS WOULD COME ON TO INCLUDE ENGINE LIGHT WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD COME ON. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER THEY TRIED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM TO INCLUDE RESETTING THE COMPUTER. OVER TIME I WOULD LOSE MY POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. FORTUNATELY I WAS GOING INTO A PARKING AREA WHEN I LOST THE POWER BRAKES OTHERWISE I'M SURE I WOULD HAVE CRASHED SINCE I DID NOT EXPECT THE CHANGE. AS OF LATE THE TRUCK WILL NOT START OR THE RADIO WON'T GO OFF. I WAS SITTING IN MY TRUCK IN FRONT OF A CONVENIENCE STORE FOR 20-30 MINUTES WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING WHILE I CAUGHT UP MY TEXTS AND CALLS. WHEN I GOT READY TO LEAVE I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE.
