My electric rack and pinion went out
The ABS module (anti-lock brake module) has stopped working. My abs light, parking brake light, and traction control light stay on all the time and my anti-lock brakes are not working. This is SO common with 3rd generation Ram 1500’s (2013-2018) and I don’t understand why the abs module has not been recalled yet? The cost to replace the abs module is extremely expensive and if it a poorly designed part that will fail, Mopar should recall the part and replace it.
Check engine light came on and then turning a corner my power steering turned off. Cause me to run off the road and almost crashed. It yanked me straight off the road. Put a code reader on it and C2200-49 was popping up.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 138,000, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 248,000.

My son was driving on the freeway and went to change lanes and all of a sudden the power steering system stopped working and he told me after the fact that it locked up and he could not turn the steering wheel so he hit a guard rail and flipped the truck on its side. It caught on fire instantly and he was lucky to be able to get out. A passerby stopped while the truck was on fire and held the passenger door opened for him as he climbed out. If there were any children in the vehicle, they might have not been so lucky! Could have killed my son and anybody else on the road that early morning. Should be a police report. No system failures at the time.
My 2014 Ram 1500 ABS light, traction control, and brake light popped up and if I drive it for a short bit and stop and shut it off and crank it up the light don’t come back on. It has been doing this all the time through the winter and now says on all the time. All so the back up camera doesn’t power up when you first start vehicle for about two minutes on the radio display. The camera not coming on creates a big safety issue when backing up. We have small grandchildren and this makes it a big safety concern.
Airbag light comes on and beeps then shits off intermittently. Happens every time we drive the vehicle. I noticed there were other past recalls about the ABS warning light coming on. The message on dash says "Service Airbag System". Our truck has never been in an accident, the horn still works, wiring looks secure for airbag harness, not sure if this is a common problem but I googled it and I've seen several Ram owners with the same light on.
The contact's husband owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the horn initially failed to operate as needed. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V459000 (Air Bags), which was linked to the horn failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. Recently, the horn failure returned, along with select steering wheel options that also failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective wiring harness and clock spring, and the contact was given an estimate for the repair. The contact then received a notice from the manufacturer about a lifetime warranty on the vehicle under the D-17 clock spring lifetime warranty. The contact called the dealer and informed them about the warranty notice. The dealer stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle and refused to honor the warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My vehicle is saying please service the airbags on it. I have noticed that when I start it there seems to be issues with my odometer showing up at times. I have noticed then the vehicle to a dealer for this issue but when it goes to the shop I will discuss it with them.
I purchased This truck new in 2014 and have had very few problems with it, but now the ABS module is defective which affects the brakes, traction control, cruise, with all lights on. In driving the vehicle under wet roads it has gone out of control and is dangerous. Ram has told me that the parts are back ordered and recently gave me incorrect information as to the extent of this parts problem. I paid over 50k for this vehicle to keep in my older years and I do not want to have to change now . This is a real problem that could get someone hurt or killed. They say it is not a recall issue but there are thousands of these parts needed and Ram seems to [XXX]. I don't usually voice a complain but this hits home to me. The abs module for this vehicle has failed and is a major safety hazard. A known issue that has been on going with this particular part for years. I myself have waited over 6 months with a lemon of a truck because the part is on back order. We have called multiple dealerships and their response has been, “the part is on manufacturing review. “ No recall for this specific part has been issued and no dealership/insurance or Chrysler themselves have not provided us or any others with a solution.
The electric power steering is faulty in these vehicles. 2015-2016 year models were recalled for this issue, but 2014's were not included even though they use the same electric steering rack. This repair is $3-4000
Computer reads CC2200-49. ABS internal electronic failure. Brake,ABS,traction control lights came on and electric trailer brakes and cruise control deactivated while pulling 5000# camper putting my family in danger. Dealer and Ram Care have been of no assistance locating new part. Part has been under engineering review for 2 years and is unavailable from Mopar.
Unknown. I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Tradesman 5.7L Hemi 4x2. The ABS Control Module for the Anti-lock braking system pump. That component went out and my Cruise Control won't work without it and my Display has an engine light on because of the back order for this main component.
Lost connection with the restraint control module. I have 97,000 miles on my truck., and the air bags module malfunctioned at the same time. Now I am a bit worried about driving my truck.
When I start the engine the power steering light comes on. The steering wheel remains very firm and the wheel can not be turned. After approx 10-15 minutes, depending on how long it takes the vehicle to warm up, the power steering light will go out. At this time the vehicle can be driven and the light has not come back on while driving. There was a former recall on this same type of issue in the past involving the EPS. I have filled out this form before and feel that this is huge safety issue and I believe this warrants another recall. There are several forums online discussing others having this same issue. Thanks
The electric power steering (EPS) system on my 2014 Ram 1500 has intermittently failed, most recently when transitioning from idle, such as leaving a parking lot, and during deep turns. This marks the third time I've experienced steering-related issues with this truck. Each time the EPS fails, a "Service Power Steering" alert appears, and the steering becomes extremely difficult, posing a serious safety risk, especially in situations requiring precise maneuvering or sudden corrections. A sudden loss of steering control could lead to a collision, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. This issue has been previously repaired twice—once by the original dealer and once under warranty after I purchased the truck, without prior knowledge of the problem. Despite these repairs, the failure has returned, indicating an unresolved or recurring defect. The issue has not yet been diagnosed or confirmed by a dealer or independent mechanic for this latest occurrence. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
ABS module is faulty. I was told at the local Pep Boys after running a diagnostic test that the ABS module has an error. There is a recall on the electronic systems with the ABS I am aware of and would like to have that fixed on a recall.
ABS Control Module has failed. The part number is 68228991AD. The dealership informed me the manufacturer no longer makes this part, and they were unable to resolve the issue. While I was advised by the dealership the truck is ok to drive, my additional research indicated a failed ABS module can lead to the wheels locking up while driving, the speedometer to stop working and the transmission locking out due to the computer system thinking there’s a break failure. This is a huge safety risk to others around me on the road, myself and my family.
ABS system failure. Unable to repair the ABS control module because the part is not available making the passenger rear wheel lose traction while starting to move and driving at highway speeds causing the rear of the vehicle to fishtail on dry roads. Even with new tires installed.
The Electronic Power Steering (EPS) module in my 2014 RAM 1500 fails consistently (each time) when the vehicle is started. To date, the EPS module begins working within 10 to 20 minutes of vehicle start-up but does not provide any confidence in it's continued operation. The vehicle has reeently been in for replacement of the EPS module, including the rack and pinion system. When the EPS module is not working, there is no power steering assist, and driving the vehicle puts the driver, other occupants and surrounding vehicles/pedestrians in danger, especially were it to fail unexpectedly during operation. The problem has been confirmed to require replacement of the EPS module at Earnhardt CDJR in Gilbert, Arizona in October 2024. It was confirmed again by an independent service center on January 15, 2025 and has recently been in for repair/replacement. While this particular vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, there has been a recall of the EPS module for 2013-2019 RAM 1500s, so the problem has been acknowledged by the manufacturer. No warning lamps or messages appeared prior to the failure. Following the initial failure, each time the vehicle is started the "Service Power Steering" warning lamp and message appears. The warning lamp and message turn off when the EPS module begins working.

The contact stated that the RPM became elevated before decreasing. The contact stated that the failure occurred while the cruise control was activated or deactivated. The ABS, the brake light, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The contact who is a certified mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel cap, EVAP system, and the PCM had failed to respond to the catalytic converter, and the electronic response system for the traction control had failed. The vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Speed Control). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicle had been previously repaired under the recall. The dealer was informed of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed, and the fault codes were not cleared. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 290,000.

Recently, I started having problems with my electric power steering. While driving I would experience sudden loss of power and the power steering service light would start flashing. This happened on multiple occasions without a warning. It also happens at random times so I decided to do some investigating on NHTSA’s website. I saw there was a recall issued for Ram 1500s models between 2013-2016 ( Recall VB9) so I contacted my nearest Chrysler dealer to obtain more information. I was told that my Vin is not related to the recall however, I feel like my vehicle should be included in this recall due to the fact that I am experiencing the same mechanical problems listed on the recall.
My 2014 Ram's cab is allowing water to enter into the interior. This appears to be a very common problem with this era of Ram. First, I noticed my third brake light would blow at least once a year. If you do not replace it, the information center on the truck displays that the driver brake light is out, which it is not and is a completely different bulb. I realized this after stopping at the parts store, buying a new driver side brake light, only to determine it was the third brake light. After each rain, I notice a strong mildew smell in my truck. I then noticed a large water stain on the headliner above the rear passenger seat. I have replaced the bulb to the third brake light once a year and the housing light assembly and gasket twice. Water is either entering from the third brake light or from the black roof trim that run from the front windshield to the rear windshield. Could this mold and mildew growing in my headliner be causing my family's allergies? This leak is a very common problem as indicated in Ram forums and in YouTube videos. Many solutions have been owners using silicone all over the third brake light and the black trim that runs from windshield to windshield. Ram should recall the third brake light, body trim, and replace all headliners.
ABS module has failed. Traction control and ABS is not functioning. The module is on back order for over a year now. I’ve read on many forms that many people are having the same issue. I now have to be extremely careful especially on wet roads as the rear tires spin due to not having TC functioning.
I have a 2014 Dodge Ram with a 3 way heater valve causing check engine light concrens. I have read several Ram forum about this situation. people are replacing the valve and trucks run well after repair but the check engine light stays illuminated and will not reset. From what I'm understanding is there is a communication problem with the power control module. The 3 way valve issue is way too common among the Chrysler family and very expensive for such a small part. If possible please look into this issue it will be greatly appreciated for thousands of Chrysler owners. Thank you
The Horn and all push buttons on the steering wheel except for the cruise control on/off no longer work. The vehicle was subject to a recall for the same problem. The vehicle was supposedly repaired, but again the problem has come back. I believe the repair was either not performed or was done poorly due to the problem coming back.
The center of the instrument cluster has gone blank. You cannot see any of the mileage speed tire pressure any of the information that is located on the center of the instrument cluster between the tachometer and the speedometer
Does not start reliably. When driving vehicle sputters and even stalls or complete shut offs while driving. Will loose ability to accelerate and lack power. Taken to 4 different mechanics / 2 of which Dodge Dealerships and no one can find whats wrong. Engine light on.
I was driving down the highway when my steering wheel locked up and a warning light lit up saying “service power steering”. Very scary and dangerous situation to be in during traffic hours and I was stranded for a few hours until a tow truck could come pick me up on the side of the highway. The truck was towed to the dealership and they informed me the problem was the Power steering rack, having to spend thousands since It’s not covered under warranty. As far as who’s inspected it is unknown due to it being at the dealer. There were no signs or symptoms prior to the incident.
I have a fault in the ABS Control Module. I have been waiting on a replacement part since September of 2023. The current part number for repair has been discontinued and it sounds like the ABS Control Module is under engineering review. When the fault is thrown it turns of traction control and does not allow the use of 4 wheel drive. I have serious safety concerns when driving my vehicle when the abs fault is thrown. If the part has been discontinued and it is under engineering review how has it not been recalled.
When I start the vehicle the power steering light comes on and stays on until the vehicle warms up. Once the vehicle is warm, the light goes off. Usually this light stays on for approximately 10 minutes. I can’t begin driving until the light goes off. It has not ever come on while driving
My electric power steering is fixing to cause me to be in a major accident. This should not be happening as I have only had the vehicle two years now. I don't have the funds to fix it and it's my everyday driver. Dodge needs to fix this problem as it is a manufacturing default and it is on them. This has been happening for 19 months now

Driving my 2014 Ram 1500 SLT (approx 95000mi) truck home from work and the electronic power steering just stopped working. Had a very difficult time trying to navigate home on the highway. Upon self inspection I determined the power steering rack went bad from water intrusion because of a faulty rubber boot that you cant readily see with a slit in it. And also blew the fuse mounted to the battery. These steering racks are in short supply for some unkown reason, are difficult to find, and ungoldy expensive. I ordered the new parts and did the install myself to save money but it was still $2200+ for someting that should be an absolute safety issue or recall. The electronics are supposedly coated in a water proofing compound. I returned the junk part to the origin of purchase (Rock Auto) to get my petty $75 core charge back. I am only submitting this because I believe it is an extreme safety hazzard on such an important component of a vehicle. After whole replacement with expensive current revisioned parts I now have a functioning vehicle again.
The power steering intermittently goes out and locks up the steering wheel. Almost wrecked leaving a gas station had to pull over and disconnect battery terminals to reset it and it finally started back working. Drove home and turned the truck off, when I turned it back on it was locked up again with the error flashing on the cluster. It started doing this May 17, 2024. Haven’t drove vehicle since then.
instrument cluster/panel Flickers and goes completely dark stay dark/blackout the majority of the time. There is a recall for the year 2014 but only if manufactured between July -August. Ours manufactured in October .this has been an on and off occurrence since maybe 2018 when we took it to the dealer early on it didn’t happen so they couldn’t address it. However it is off more than on and we have seen the recall. The blackout restricts our ability to see and monitor gages.
Dashboard says that my left headlight is out, or my left and sometimes right turn signals are out. Upon checking, the headlight is new and the turn signals are working properly outside of the truck.
Issues constantly with hvac control module and climate system...every other time I start my ram, I either have AC in the heating mode or vice versa, or the computer is NOT communicating with the hvac module and blend doors for when I request heat, ac or defrost dashboard control etc.( I have replaced many blend doors oem, and hvac modules and had Chrysler recalibrate the blend doors and hvac/climate control system with NO success! Please help!
Our truck kept coming up with check engine, ABS and traction control lights. Come to find out, it is the ABS Module Control that needs to be replaced. In doing research, I have found that there have been numerous complaints on this same issue for years. At what point does it become neglect on Dodge? There have been accidents yet they're continuing to ignore this situation and it's allowed???
Was driving one day while towing a trailer and all of a sudden while making a left turn the power steering went out which caused me to hit an embarkment and damage the front bumper area of my vehicle. My safety was put at risk because of the damage it caused and how difficult the steering became all of a sudden without warning or anything. There weren't any warning prior to the power steering going out, but as soon as it went out a symbol appeared on the dashboard. This was the first time that I have ever seen that symbol. Vehicle hasn't been inspected by anybody other than myself. Checked for recalls and saw that my 2014 wasn't included.
The electronic power steering system started to fail on its own. There was no real reason for this problem. There is full power to system and no blown fuses. It is a gamble as to when the system decides when it wants to work.
This is the 4th time it's happened and also the 2nd time iv almost been killed!! I have a 2014 ram 1500 which iv grown to love. Iv have alot of issues but never complained and just took care of ... yet the gauge cluster display decides to go into a party mode (strobing) and flickering or just flat out going black!!! I have bad eyes and twice now within 2 months driving at night iv gone off the road because of the flashing in my eyes! Iv found this is a common issue but the dealer told me I cannot get it fixed even though it's been recalled under other trucks! This has almost killed me! Please all I'm asking is to fix this for me... I love this truck but I'm terrified to drive it now with this issue let alone get rid of it and God for bid someone else has an accident . Please help a ram fan pile on the miles with a safe vehicle.. thank you for your time, im sorry for the long message but this is very serious and obviously a safety issue . Again, iv gone off the road and avoided a very serious incident that was caused by a faulty part. I completly understand parts going bad and having to replace them out of pocket. NOTHING SHOULD WORK FINE ONE MINUTE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN START STROBBING IN ANYONES FACE . Thank you again
your letter says I can review my report but couldn't find it NHTSA JD#11531515 SO On JULY 7th I started up my truck put it in reverse and had no power steering shut it off and restart still the same could not turn the wheel. I checked the internet someone said check the 2 fuses by battery they were good. had towed on Monday 7-10-23 to Fayetteville dodge they checked it out said I needed a new elect. power rack. they ordered and it took 3 weeks at a total cost $5172.23 out of my pocket. Vehicle began experiencing electrical issues upon ABS/HCU unit failure. While initially intermittent, which allowed continued usage of the vehicle, additional components such as cruise control, trailer braking, etc., began to malfunction. Warning lights would toggle on and off, and truck began to have no-start problems with C0020 ABS codes and UO140 codes being thrown. Truck went to two Ram dealerships for inspection and neither could replicate any issues, but they were able to see the warning lights and code history. After being advised to first replace TIPM, battery, and starter, my truck has now completely died in my driveway. When I attempt to start, the check engine light comes on (in addition to ABS, trailer brake, traction control, etc.) and flashes between 3-10 times. I've now been told by dealer that the problem is actually in the ABS module and HCU, which due to the known issues with these parts may have caused damage to all of these other components, leading to the fault in the canbus system. This has been ongoing for nearly two years, which is ridiculous for the money spent on this vehicle. I've been advised by other Ram truck owners dealing with this type of situation to file a report in efforts to aid the ongoing investigation. The contact stated that the brake pedal was soft when depressed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was determined that the ABS module, the front wheel, and the rear wheel sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the cap was full of grease and failed to connect, and the sensors were loosened. There was condensation in the module. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000. The contact stated it seems like with having the four wheel drive in gauge, an the abs malfunctioning, it took out the transmission.

The components that malfunctioned in my 2014 Ecodiesel Ram 1500 was the fuel sending unit and fuel pump. As I was driving on the freeway my truck started cutting out and stalling from 75 mph. It finally stalled and I was able to pull over in the middle island on the freeway I was on. The truck would start then turn off. The fuel gauge read over 1/4 tank of diesel fuel. The safety of myself or my family could have been at risk if someone else was driving that truck. Even for myself trying to pull out of full commuter traffic was very dangerous with a stalled vehicle. I don't know if the problem has been reproduced or reported by any other owner of the same vehicle. The only inspection was done by the Auto shop that works on my truck. Their were no warning lights or alerts on my dashboard display while this event took place. I had my vehicle towed to the shop that does service for me. They discovered I was out of fuel due to a faulty sending unit and fuel pump. The fuel gauge on the dash was showing 1/4 tank when it was actually empty.
Truck has hardly ever been driven,, at 2,602mi smelled plastic burning for about 5 seconds when first cranked up,, this happened 2 different times, then no power steering,, warning light came on ,, been PARKED,, after researching the problem of CONTAMINATION OF THE EPS MODULE,, called MY RAM DEALER won't give me an app. for 2 months to check it out,, THEY KNOW WHAT IT IS,, TY RAM
There have been several recalls on this vehicle. The day after purchase there was a class action settlement. I’m curious as to how the dealership was allowed to sell this vehicle knowing they had all the information in regards to the sell. The vehicle should have had a stop sell. Our family was at risk when the engine started to give out while on the road. The vehicle has been sitting at the shop for months with back and forth on an engine failure, etc. replacement. It’s all fine to purchase the vehicle, yet we are facing the consequences of the manufacturer/dealership negligence and left with no help and being dismissed due to claims of parts not available. We have a family of 6 and down to one vehicle but, not our part but, due to the fact we have one vehicle. I have sent an email 3 times due to this issue and no one bothers to touch base. The recalls had to have been known by the seller, yet did not disclose the potential risks. We went through major decisions to find a way to pay the vehicle off and I feel that because it is, they got their money and do not care. However, we do and it does not disregard the fact it was manufactured improperly and sold when it should not have been. Not only were other drivers at risk due to the faulty vehicle but, my family was.
No accident has happened but I have had the Anti-lock brake module go bad in my truck and it has disabled cruise control, anti-lock brakes and traction control. So basically just old fashion standard braking is all that is working. Took it to the dealership and they told me the part is on hold by Ram for review by their engineers. So I called Ram directly and they said it is under review but they could expedite the part for me. I see there is a law suit pending for the 2017-2018 Ram 2500 and 2017-2018 Ram 3500 but not any other years. After doing some further research online and using an ODB reader I see that this is actually a very common issue even with my year and model. Even at the dealership when I started to explain the issue, they stopped my and told me exactly what it was and that they have seen it many times. I believe because of the number of issues being registered online and in dealerships that this should be a safety recall, especially because we are talking about braking. I will attach photos.
Instrument cluster screen flickered dim and light for several months. Instrument cluster is now completely white showing a blank screen.
EPS went out while driving down the interstate. It is available to inspect on request. I was able to get pulled over without any accidents. Nothing confirmed from dealer yet. No warning lights came on, just happened instantly.
Power Steering Failed all of a sudden while riding around 40mph. put myself and others in danger. Unable to turn without puttting alot of strength into it. No warning lamps or messages about power steering.
While driving, all the sudden the power steering went out and a Service Power Steering Warning Light came on. The steering became almost impossible to steer and I'm a big guy. This almost caused me to run the truck off the road but thankfully I was just making a turn after stopping at a stop sign and entering onto another street. Had there been a vehicle coming down the road, I would not have been able to avoid the collision. This was an extremely dangerous situation and thankfully I didn't have my wife and kid in the car and there wasn't any oncoming traffic. When I searched online, it appears that this is an ongoing issue and there haven't been any recalls. Something needs to be done as I feel unsafe and this is my primary driver.
There’s a lot of complains a lot of people that says dodge rams have problems with the ignition switch all over the internet there’s people taking there ignitions out and open them and cleaning them with alcohol so they can work again and turn the truck on. This just happened to me it was working perfectly then it started turning on just occasionally and now it won’t work at all. This is a big problem because is on every dodge ram 2014 and older sometimes even on 2017 and 18 with all this people complaining about the same issue is obvious this is the companies responsibility and we shouldn’t be paying hundreds of dollars when it can be fixed for free if it was on the safety recall website.
My vehicle VIN [XXX] shown "no unprepared recalls". However I saw that there was a past recall for this vehicle. The recall dealt with the digital instrument cluster which gives data on engine management, safety features such as ABS systems, and other safety items. I do not believe my vehicle had ever been repaired. My digital instrument system flashes on and off and many times, as all day today, was completely inoperable. This has been occurring for approx one year and the dealer told me that this was normal, which it is absolutely not. The dealerships around here have a habit of falsely signing off on repairs and recalls especially if the vehicle hit their lot with a recall during a trade-in. The new buyer would have no idea of such recall. Please assist me in getting this unprepared recall repaired. I would also like to address the faulty 8 speed transmissions which shudder and shift unnecessarily. This could cause a sudden loss power on acceleration in heavy high speed traffic and merging onto an interstate. Please look into this. Fuel Gauge sending unit in fuel tank has failed. No idea of how much fuel is in the fuel tank. 60k miles on the vehicle. Do not want to run out of fuel on an interstate or major highway and cause a possible collision.
INTERSECTION,I PROCEEDED TO TURN LEFT, THE WHEEL TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND LOCKED i STRUIGGLED TO CONTROLD THE VEHICLE, DESPERATELY TRYING NOT TO HIT A MAN CROSSING THE STREET IN A WHEELCHAIR. i LOST CONTROL, JUMPED A CURVE AND HIT A LIGHT POLE. MY FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. FOUR OF MY TEETH WERE KNOCKED LOOSE. IHAD TO HAVE THEM PULL DUE TO AN INFECTION. MY HEAD AND NECK WAS JERKED AROUND TWICE. I WAS IN SHOCK & TERRIFIED I DROVE HOME CALLED MY SON, HE IMMEDIATELY CAME TO DRIVE THE TRUCK TO MY HOME, I MANAGED. MY DENTIST PULLED THREE TEETH AND THEN ONE MORE BECAUSE THEY BECAME INFECTED. THIS STEERING PROBLEM WAS NOT NORMAL., NO FLUID LOSS, N0 WARNING. MY TRUCK HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP 4-6 WEEKS PRIOR A COMPLETE DIAGNOSIS WAS CONDUCTED. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE, HAD I TURN TO THE RIGHT I WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY. INSTEAD OF GOING HOME THAT NIGHT i WAS GOING TO SEE MY 6 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER. MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOLD ME TO PLACE IN THE SHIOP. AFTER THE REPAIRS THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE $5,000 REPAIR BECAUSE THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS A WEAR AND TEAR. THIS IS FALSE. I CALLED FCA they informed me that my warranty was out. I telephoned them several times to inform them this was not a warranty issue. The same issue for the recall, reoccurred. it wasn't unit I informed them of my injury, then they informed me they would send someone to investigate. They sent their Engineering Analysis associates/Bosch Automotive Services Solutions to exam the repaired vehicle. It was at that point they read the report from Lithia Dodge Ram, the dealer my deceased husband purchased this death trap and examined it, but they could not find no evidence of a manufacturing issue, no evidence of power steering, electrical nor the throttle. Well, this is a problem because my invoice I was given and I was advised the report code stated it was electrical steering rack, a manufacturer problem THOUSANDS COMPLAINED. #ACCOUNTABILITY!
Dash digital display screen completely black and not working. The truck was driving fine the day we noticed the screen being black but could not determine speed or anything else. Now the truck will not start.
^ months ago my truck would not start and the doors would not unlock using the keyfob. Had it towed to the dealer and they said it was the module for the key system not communicating. after 2 months they finally installed a new module. Took the truck home and it stalled on me 3 time at 70mph and the interstate. Took back to the dealer and they contacted Ram engineers and they told them it was a broken wire . Finally got the truck but would not start the next day. I have researched and found that the TIPMs were going to be recalled but it was denied. Yesterday 9/16/22 I was told the truck was ready and when I went to pick it up it wouldnt start. Is there going to be a recall on the TIPMs?
My 2014 ram 1500 went to the dealership for recalls and a wheel alignment, ecm failed to recognize new software updat and will not start, new chrysler ecm installed and truck still wont accept new software so will not start. Previous experience of a bad tipm insisted on various lights coming on tachometer display, cruise control shutting off at various speeds, engine shutting down and turning off on highway at cruising or passing speeds, had new integrated tipm installed and new Altenator, resoled issues.
Service Power Steering warning came on and there was no ability to move the wheel without a great deal of effort. I needed to make an appointment and couldn't even get out of the driveway due to the lack of power steering and turn radius. Major issue for us as the truck is rendered useless during cooler days up to 80 degrees F. This is a vehicle that I do not feel safe in, let alone put our infant in a "very safe vehicle" to drop off or pick up from daycare where the steering wheel feels locked up.

The Uconnect system!!! The Uconnect system crashed after Ram sent a over-the-air update which had a glitch in it. The whole stereo system which includes, Air Conditioning Heating, defrost ,vent direction and temperature adjustment . If you have the app it can control remote start locking and unlocking of your doors. I have taken vehicle down to the dealership they have confirmed that it was over the air update that has caused the system to crash. So driving down the road I cannot change to defrost once my window gets fogged up. Whatever position it would be stuck in when the system crashes is the position it will be in until new system is installed or fixed. My other concern is I went to sleep one night and I wake up the next day to have my truck randomly lock itself with my keys in it. It is a key fob system so my truck will not allow me to lock the keys in the vehicle. I am concerned since it just randomly did it for no reason what if there is an emergency and I have to exit the vehicle quickly or have a child or dog in the car will it just randomly lock itself again for no reason. There was no warnings,no lamps,no signs at all the u connect system just went out.The doors locking all by them selves no warning or signs as well. After speaking with Pop-A-Lock to get my keys out of the truck he says this make year and model is in the top 4 of vehicles that just randomly lock the keys in the vehicle for no reason very concerning as a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the fuel gauge showed empty. While pulling over, the fuel gauge regained normal functionality. The contact continued driving to his destination. The contact was concerned that the fuel gauge sensor might need to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,700.

When I drive at night or early in the morning when it is still dark out, my headlights turn off fully and I have to pull over for 20 to 30 mins to try and turn them back on
Teenage son driving 75 mph on a bridge when steering suddenly went out causing the truck to swerve into another lane. With much effort he was able to pull steering wheel back into his lane but almost hit another vehicle in the process. Our vin is not included in the recall - this needs to be remedied immediately before someone is seriously hurt or killed. The truck has not been inspected or repaired, it can not be driven safely. There were not warning lamps or messages or symptoms prior.
WHEN DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SHUT OFF. THE RED LIGHT WITH THE POWER STEERING SYMBOL AND ! CAME ON. CHECKED THE FUSE #78 AND IT LOOKED OK, PLUGGED IT BACK IN AND NO ISSUE FOR 3 & 1/2 DAYS , UNTIL THIS MORNING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ON RAM 1500 YRS 2013 to 2019, BUT MY VIN DOES NOT REGISTER FOR THE RECALL. THIS STARTED MONDAY EVENING.

IMPACTS SENSORS - AIR PRESSURE MONITORS ALARMS COME ON EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THE AIR PRESSURE MONITORS, HAVING 2 DIFFERENT SHOPS CHECK ON THEM AND ADVISING THAT THEY DONT NEED REPLACING AND THAT THE SENSORS ARE GOOD. ALSO TRIGGERED AN ALERT THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN DRIVE - EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN DRIVE. THE TRUCK WOULD NO GO - I HAD TO ASHIFT BACK TO PARK, TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTART IT ALSO IMPACTS IN CABIN LIGHTING - IT TURNS OFF AND WHILE DRIVING IT WILL TURN ON. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE IS NO RECALL FOR IT. SHOP IS UNWILLING TO INVESTIGATE AND OFFERS SOLUTION OF REPLACING THE WHOLE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WHICH IS OVER $1000 USD FOR THE PART ALONE. THIS ISSUE IS ONGOING - AND IT SEEMS TO BE IMPACTING MANY MANY TRUCKS.
The screen on my instrument cluster flashes or turns off completely. Dealership said it’s a common problem. Over $1000 to repair. There is a similar recall on other Ram trucks in the same year as mine but mine is not listed by vin number even though it’s the exact same issue described in the recall.
I was driving at high speed on the expressway and my electrical power steering quit working. I ran off the road and into the ditch because the truck was too hard to control without the power steering. I could have crashed into someone or injured myself. This is a very dangerous situation to be in if you are driving at any speed. If my wife had been driving it could have been fatal. Additionally, the repairs were over $3500. I was driving down the road, fortunately in my neighborhood when I saw a brief alert regarding my trailer towing system before the truck completely shut down in the middle of the road. I was unable to restart and had to call a tow service. My mechanic stated it was a crank position sensor failure according to his diagnostic computer
My dash lights have been flickering on and off during the day and night and I cannot tell how fast I am going at night sometimes. Also my backup camera does not work, sometimes.
The inline fuel system is incorrect and the electrical should not be in the tank! There should be filter at the neck then there should be a screen at the bottom of the tank where the outlet is then there should be a hose to the fuel filter and then from the fuel filter there should be an electrical pump the electrical pump should never be in the fuel tank and the electrical fuel pump is in the fuel tank which can cause I major fire! All vehicles have this problem and need to be fixed!
The inline fuel pump system is incorrect it has electrical inside the fuel tank there should be a screen at the neck of the fuel tank then there should be a screen at the bottom of the fuel tank by the outlet at the bottom of fuel tank then a hose to the fuel filter then there should be a fuel pump then the lines fuel lines to engine! Because the electrical is in the tank it will cause a fire! To fix the problem with the float to keep the electrical out of the fuel tank on the fuel gauge you should put the electrical lines at the top of the tank with a rheostat then have the float turn as it increases or decreases which turns the rheostat and sends the signal 2 the Gauge so all of the electrical is out of the tank this is the safest!
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 50 MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE WARNING LIGHT FLASHED SERVICE 4WD, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND MANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND ELECTRONIC SELECTOR. AFTER STOPPING, WITHOUT POWER BRAKES WORKING, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START. I ALLOWED TO TRUCK TO SIT, WITH FLASHERS ON, FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. AFTER THE 10 MINUTE WAIT, THE TRUCK STARTED AND SEEM TO DRIVE NORMALLY. I WENT DIRECTLY TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP (SHARP DODGE IN PULASKI, TN). THE TECHNICIAN WASN'T ABLE TO FIND A "CODE" RELATED TO THE SHUT DOWN. THEY ONLY FOUND INDICATIONS OF "VOLTAGE OVERLOAD" NOT FURTHER DEFINED. THIS OCCURRED ON APRIL 8, 2021 ON HWY 31A, APPROX 0600 HRS NEAR THE CITY OF PULASKI, TN 38478. NOTE:. THE ENGINE /LONG BLOCK WAS REPLACED BY THE SAME DEALER AT172000 AND UNDER MOPAR WARRANTY DUE TO INTERNAL ENGINE ISSUES INVOLVING #5 LIFTER AND DAMAGED CAM SHAFT.

I WAS UNHARMED BUT IF IT WASN'T FOR ME TURNING THE SEAT OFF, I'M AFRAID OF WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED. OUR TRUCK IS STILL UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED. IT CUT OFF AT A COUPLE MILES FROM THE SHOP. SECOND REPAIRS ON THE 9/11/20. PICK IT UP ON THE 9/14/20. THOSE REPAIR COST ME $1830.20. AGAIN IT CUT OFF A COUPLE MILES DOWN THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING. I HAD COMPLAIN BEFORE ABOUT THE FAULTY TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. DODGE HAD WARRANTY THE PART. BUT SINCE THEN I HAVE REPLACE IT FOUR OR FIVE TIMES. I PAID FOR THE REPAIRS THAT SUPPOSED TO FIX IT. BUT THEY ARE NOT LISTENING TO ME. I PULL A TRAILER ON THE HIGHWAY, AND IF THE TRUCK CUT OFF, IT WILL PUT ME AT RISK AND WHO EVER DRIVING AROUND ME. I HAVE CHECKED ON-LINE AND FOUND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. THIS OCCURRED WHEN DEALER WAS WORKING ON IT, TRUCK WAS STATIONARY AND ONLY TRAVELED TO AND FROM DEALER FROM/TO HOME.

INS CO STATED MANUFACT DEFECT, RAM STATED LEAKY INJECTOR (WHICH WERE REPLACED BY RAM 18K MI PRIOR AT DEALERSHIP). I SUSTAINED SMOKE INHALATION AND 1ST DEGREE BURNS TO FACE,NECK,LT ARM AND HAD/HAVE HEADACHES. TRUCK WAS STILL UNDER 100K WARRANTY WITH ONLY 40K. RAM DENIED OPENED CLAIM AND WARRANTY. INS CO TOTALED TRUCK OUT, THEY STILL HAVE AN OPEN CLAIM AGAINST RAM. ADDITIONALLY RAM DENYING MY EMISSIONS SETTLEMENT OF 3K ONLY OFFERING 900 (STATING EMISSIONS WORK COULDN'T BE DONE DUE TO FIRE CLASSIFYING ME AS A PREVIOUS OWNER ALTHOUGH I WAS CURRENT OWNER EVEN AT THAT TIME). I STILL HAVEN'T SETTLED EMISSIONS. RECENTLY RAM HAS RECALLED ALL 108K ECO-DIESELS 2014-19 FOR FIRE HAZARD. MY TRUCK FITS THE DESCRIPTION FOR WHAT HAPPENS AND ALWAYS NEEDED A LITTLE COOLANT WITH MAINT, INSP, OIL CHANGES. MY TRUCKS 'SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL' LIGHT (LIGHTNING BOLT) COMES ON BOTH WHEN STARTING MY VEHICLE AND WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE. WHEN IT COMES ON WHEN I TRY TO START THE TRUCK, IT WONT CHANGE OUT OF THE GEAR IT IS IN (IE I CANT GO FASTER THAN 15-18MPH). IT SOMETIMES GOES OFF IF I TURN THE ENGINE ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MORE DANGEROUS TIMING OF IT IS WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE I'M DRIVING.THIS EITHER CAUSES ME TO DOWNSHIFT INTO A LOWER GEAR WHICH THROWS ME FORWARD AND REVS THE ENGINE IN EXCESS OF 3000RPM, OR WHILE I AM STOPPED, THE RPMS CLIMB WITHOUT ANY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. IF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE WHILE THIS HAPPENS, I ACCELERATE FORWARD EITHER UP TO 18MPH OR 30MPH DEPENDING WHICH GEAR IT IS 'STUCK' IN. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO ONE LOCAL RAM DEALER 6 TIMES REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE. THE DID FLASH UPDATES, REPLACED ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR, BRAKE SENSOR, REPAIRED CONNECTOR FOR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR, AND REPLACED THROTTLE BODY (ALL OF WHICH AT THE TIME, THEY SAID EACH INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT WAS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM). I HAVE TAKEN IT TO ANOTHER LOCAL RAM DEALER, AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT WITH 4 AND A HALF HOURS OF DIAGNOSTIC TIME. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND REPLACED A CABLE/CONNECTOR AND LOW AND BEHOLD, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR SO, SO MANY REASONS. I NOTE THAT NOT ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAVE COME ON, BUT THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, SERVICE 4WD LIGHT, ! THIS PROBLEM CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME EVEN WHEN DRIVING ACCORDING TO OTHER REMARKS. I TOLD SERVICE TECH THAT A COUPLE TIMES A WEEK THE KEY WILL NOT ENGAGE ON FIRST TRY BUT THEN WILL START VEHICLE AND THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MONTHS. DODGE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE RAM BECAUSE IT WAS 700 MILES OUT OF THE WARRANTY. A WEEK AFTER THE STORM, I STARTED THE RAM TO WARM UP ONE MORNING AND WHEN I WENT TO GET IN THE TRUCK EVERY WARNING LIGHT WAS ON, IT WAS BEEPING, I COULD TO SHIFT IT INTO GEAR NOR COULD I TURN THE TRUCK OFF. ONCE I STEPPED OUT OF THE TRUCK IT LOCKED THE DOORS WITH THE TRUCK STILL RUNNING AND I COULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOORS FOR AN HOUR LATER. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE HEADLIGHTS BLINK (AS IF YOU ARE ON A BUMPY ROAD). TOOK TO MACK GRUBBS/COLUMBIA, MS FOR A RECALL ISSUE AND HAD THEM TO LOOK AT LIGHTS. THEY TOLD ME THEY SEE THAT IN A LOT OF THOSE MODEL TRUCKS. I PICKED UP MY TRUCK FROM THE RECALL REPAIR AND WAS INFORMED I OWED $40 FOR DIAGNOSIS OF THE HEAD LIGHT ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD BE $180 PLUS TAX AND LABOR TO REPAIR THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE SAME TO REPAIR THE DRIVER SIDE. THAT IS WAS A WIRING HARNESS ISSUE. THE SERVICE MAN TOLD ME AND MY HUSBAND THAT THE IS VERY COMMON IN THE RAM TRUCKS. 1) THAT SHOULD MEAN A RECALL. 2) OUR TRUCK WAS IN OUR POSSESSION EXACTLY 2 YEARS, 1 DAY WHEN WE DROPPED IT OFF FOR THE RECALL ISSUE TO BE FIXED (WHICH WAS ABOUT A WEEK AFTER I HAD THEM TO DIAGNOS THE CHECK ENGINE/LIGHTS AND WAS TOLD OF A RECALL AND SET UP THE APPT). 3) WE PURCHASED AN ELECTRICAL INSURANCE AT TIME OF VEHICLE PURCHASE. AFTER SEVERAL VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NUMEROUS TELEPHONE CALLS, I COULD NOT RECEIVE ANY DEFINITIVE ANSWER AS TO WHAT WAS BEING DIAGNOSED OR DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. EVENTUALLY, I HAD TO OPEN A CASE FILE THROUGH DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY TOO, WERE MET WITH THE SAME UNCERTAINTY AND COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. AFTER 40 DAYS IN MAINTENANCE AND A GREAT DEAL OF ACQUIRED STRESS, THE VEHICLE WAS FINALLY RETURNED IN WORKING ORDER. THE CAUSE ? A FAULTY, TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF THIS UNIT I HAVE COME TO FIND THAT (1) CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, (2) THERE IS A NATIONAL BACKORDER FOR TIPM?S STRETCHING MONTHS, AND (3) LEGAL ACTION IS PENDING. AFTER PULLING INTO MY DRIVE WAY WITH MY ADULT SON IN THE PASSENGER SEAT I WAS ROLLING UP TO THE GARAGE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL SLOWING DOWN THE TRUCK. I STOPPED THE TRUCK COMPLETELY, BY PUSHING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL HARDER, ABOUT 5 FEET FROM THE HOUSE. I REACHED DOWN TO ROTATE THE SHIFT DIAL TO PARK, "P". AFTER TURNING TO "P" THE TRUCK ENGINE STARTED REVVING AND THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD, AFTER INITIALLY BEING STARTLED I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW THE SHIFT DIAL WAS AT "P" AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING. THE TRUCK THEN STRUCK THE CORNER OF THE HOUSE WHILE I WAS ALMOST STANDING UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TRYING TO GET IT TO STOP. I TURNED THE SHIFT DIAL TO REVERSE AND BACK TO PARK AND THE TRUCK STOPPED REVVING AND MOVING. THEN I BACKED AWAY FROM THE HOUSE. BEING A RETIRED POLICE DETECTIVE THE FIRST THING I DID WAS TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE FACTORY FLOOR MAT HAD DISLODGED AND JAMMED INTO THE PEDALS BUT IT WAS PROPERLY HOOKED IN PLACE. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCKS BODY DAMAGE REPAIRED I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. I DID NOTICE THAT WHEN I PICKED THE TRUCK UP FROM THE DEALER THERE WAS A CLICKING SOUND UNDER THE DASH WHEN I ROTATED THE SHIFT DIAL FROM "R" TO "P" THAT I DO NOT RECALL HEARING BEFORE. NO CLICKING IS HEARD WHEN CHANGING BETWEEN ANY OTHER GEARS.

WITH AROUND 14000 MILES ON MY TRUCK I WAS DRIVING HOME AND WAS ALERTED THAT MY FRONT LEFT BLINKER WAS BURNT OUT, MOMENTS LATER I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY RIGHT FRONT BLINKER WAS BURNT OUT. A FEW MILES DOWN THE INTERSTATE FROM THAT I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY RIGHT FOG LIGHT HAD BURNT OUT. I WAS GOING TO TAKE MY TRUCK IN THE NEXT DAY (MONDAY MORNING). BEFORE HEADING TO THE DEALERSHIP I INSPECTED MY FRONT LIGHTS TO FIND THAT MY FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS OUT ALSO. I WAITED UNTIL THE SUN CAME UP AND PRIOR TO HEADING TO THE DEALERSHIP I CHECKED THE LIGHTS AGAIN. ALL WERE WORKING SO I DIDN'T TAKE MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP (MONDAY MID-MORNING). TUESDAY MORNING THE CYCLE REPEATED ITSELF GETTING NOTIFIED FIRST OF THE LEFT FRONT BLINKER, THEN THE RIGHT FRONT BLINKER, THEN THE FOG LIGHT. I SAW NO REFLECTION FROM THE TAIL LIGHT BLINKER AS WELL. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP GETTING CHECKED. *TR

THE 2014 RAM 1500 SPORT I BOUGHT HAS HAD REPEATED DASH AND INTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEMS. THE DASH LIGHTS RANDOMLY FLICKER OR DON'T TURN ON AT ALL. ON SOME OCCASIONS NO INTERIOR LIGHTS AT ALL WOULD WORK. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES BUT STILL HASN'T BEEN REPAIRED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE SOFTWARE UPDATES, RE-GROUNDED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND REPLACED THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM. IN ADDITION THE REMOTE START SOMETIMES DOES NOT START THE TRUCK IT LOCKS THE DOORS INSTEAD, THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A SOLUTION. I FEEL THAT THE DIAL USED TO SELECT THE DRIVE GEAR IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. THE DIAL IS A SIMILAR SIZE AND SHAPE AS THE COMFORT AND RADIO CONTROLS AND PLACED RIGHT NEXT TO OTHER DASH KNOBS. I BELIEVE THAT A DRIVER COULD INTEND TO CHANGE THE RADIO STATION OR TURN THE FAN DOWN BUT INADVERTENTLY TAKE THE TRUCK OUT OF GEAR. OVERALL THIS TRUCK HAS SERIOUS ELECTRICAL FLAWS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING KNOCKED OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE IN MY OPINION. *TR

IT IS NOW 02/03/15 (5 1/2 MONTHS) - THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS IT IN FOR "REPAIR". THE WARRANTY REQUIRES THAT THE VEHICLE NOT BE DRIVEN WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, THUS DENYING US OF THE REGULAR USE OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH IS CRITICAL IN OUR CATTLE OPERATION. THE REMOTE CONTROL CAN START THE VEHICLE JUST BY CONTACT IN A POCKET. THE AUTO START IS TOO EXPOSED ON THE KEY FOB. IT HAS STARTED MY RAM TRUCK IN MY GARAGE WHILE I WAS INSIDE THE HOUSE, CAUSING A CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD. ALSO ANY MOVEMENT CAN LOCK OR UNLOCK THE VEHICLE AT ANY TIME JUST MY THE CONTACT OF CLOTHING WHILE IN A POCKET. THIS IS A SEVERE HAZARD AND CAN COST LIVES. THERE IS A CONTINUOUS UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL DRAW CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN TO THE POINT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. AN ELECTRICAL SURGE WILL CAUSE THE ELECTRIC SUSPENSION TO ACTIVATE ALONG WITH THE CONSOLE CLUSTER AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES AND NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP OR CHRYSLER HAS A FIX. THE CONDITION IS GETTING WORSE AND NOW THERE IS A NEW ISSUE AFFECTING THE ELECTRICAL CLUTCHES IN THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE REQUESTED A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL I CAN PURCHASE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE I FEEL IS SAFER. ON APRIL 3, 2014, THE DISTRICT CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE DENIED THE REQUEST. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE FOR MULTIPLE POSSIBLE REASONS BUT ESPECIALLY CONCERNED ABOUT HE ALTERNATOR. THE ALTERNATOR'S FUNCTION IS TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY ONCE IT'S BEEN USED TO START THE ENGINE. AND TO KEEP THE BATTERY CHARGED WHEN VARIOUS ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE USED IN THE VEHICLE. THE ALTERNATOR DETERMINES HOW MUCH TO CHARGE THE BATTERY BY MEASURING THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE FROM THE BATTERY. IF THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY WHERE THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE IS VERY LOW, THE ALTERNATOR WILL TRY TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. THE ALTERNATOR ISN'T DESIGNED TO RECHARGE A DEAD BATTERY. IT'S INTENDED TO MAINTAIN THE CHARGE ON A GOOD BATTERY. WHEN THIS DOES HAPPEN, THE ALTERNATOR BEGINS TO RUN HOT, AND THIS IS WHAT KILLS THE ALTERNATOR. A DEAD BATTERY WHILE DRIVING MEANS NO ELECTRIC STEERING, NO ANTILOCK BRAKES, NO AIR BAGS, ECT. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
