Fuel tank strap fell out of the holding slot and came the strap came into contact with drive shaft cutting the rear driveshaft into. causing it to drop and slinging it self under the truck till I got stoped driving down the road this could have caused a gas leak and sparks igniting the fuel or the back half of the drive shaft could had dug into the road causing the lost of control or flipping the truck

Fuel tank bracket come off dropping the front of the fuel tank and got against the drive shaft and cut it in half causing the drive shaft to drop and bang around the under the truck to I was Abel to get stoped in the middle of the hwy this could had been a very serious. Have contacted Ram and this is a known problem that they do not want to repair the damage caused by the strap the drive shaft could had dug into the pavement cousin the truck to crash or bust the fuel tank and creating the tank to explode causing serious injury or death

Background: Vehicle purchased in Madison, WI at Schoepp Motors (July 2019). Has been continuously titled, registered, and insured in Wisconsin for over 6 years. Vehicle is fully legal in the U.S. and has a valid Wisconsin title. Issue: The fuel tank strap rusted and failed. This is a well-documented problem for Ram trucks, and Stellantis created an Extended Warranty (Code X75) to address the issue. Stellantis’ database still lists this VIN as a “Canadian market” vehicle. Because of this coding error, U.S. dealerships cannot process coverage under the Fuel Tank Strap Extended Warranty (X75, 12 years / unlimited miles). The X75 program exists specifically due to a safety concern (fuel tank strap corrosion). Despite multiple attempts to resolve this with Stellantis, I have only been directed to “contact a broker,” which does not address the underlying database problem. Timeline: 2019: Vehicle purchased in Madison, WI. 2019–2025: Vehicle continuously titled, registered, and insured in Wisconsin. August 26, 2025: Dealer confirms VIN is coded as Canadian and cannot process warranty coverage. August 27, 2025: Case opened with Stellantis US Customer Care (#[XXX]). Multiple calls and emails → Stellantis repeatedly instructs me to contact a broker, without identifying required documentation. I offered to provide Wisconsin title, registration, and insurance history. Broker consulted → confirmed import documents are not retained after 5 years (per CBP retention rules). Stellantis refuses to escalate meaningfully; no path forward provided. Concern: The X75 program is a safety-related warranty that Stellantis is refusing to honor for a U.S. resident with long-term U.S. ownership. All reasonable avenues with Stellantis Customer Care have been exhausted. I am requesting regulatory review and intervention to compel Stellantis to correct the VIN market assignment and honor the X75 safety program. Fuel tank strap rotted at the frame rail and pulled out, will now not pass inspection and was for some reason not included in other 2014 ram 1500 recall for same problem. We didnt notice it was broken we were told when we took it for inspection.

The fuel tank brackets broke which I was driving. The gas tank was about 4 inches from dragging on the road. Also there was a severe grinding noise associated with this incident.

FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP RUSTED AND BROKE. LUCKILY TRUCK WAS AT HOME WHEN I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM. FRONT OF TANK IS ONLY INCHES FROM THE GROUND AND COULD PRESENT A MAJOR HAZARD IF I CONTINUED TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE.

Coming down a hill on the freeway, lights started blinking on the dash, then making a knocking noise, lost pressure (all control) of gas pedal, then white smoke from drivers side, then grey smoke, then completely engulfed in flames within 5 minutes of dash blinking. The fuel pump in the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Longhorn Lemaire overheats while driving with less than a quarter tank of petrol. Stalling during acceleration, prolonged cranking durations prior to ignition, and abrupt power loss at highway velocities causes significant warning signs. Engine surges at times and cause irregular idling. Whining and buzzing sounds emanating from the fuel tank region. Decreased fuel efficiency without justification. The check engine light is illuminated with fuel pressure-related codes (P0087, P0190). Research indicates that 4th generation Rams (2009-2018) frequently experience failures owing to inadequate factory pumps and issues with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) relay. The fifth-generation vehicles (2019 and beyond) exhibit a reduction in failures; nonetheless, they remain susceptible to contamination from degraded plastic tanks when ethanol-blended gasoline is utilized over extended periods, and pressure below requirements indicates pump failure.

We were driving down the highway and heard a weird grinding type noise. We pulled right over to check what was wrong and noticed the fuel tank strap mount had broken apart at the frame from corrosion. Causing it to rest against the driveshaft and creating a deep groove in the driveshaft its self .

The fuel strap rutsted through the frame its a recall on previous years and mine it’s the year after the recall. Yes available upon inspection request my gas tank fell in the middle of me driving down the road at 40 and was putting groves in my drive shaft. I’ve read online a lot of people are having this issue. No warning lights just a terrible sound of the broken strap cutting into my drive shaft.

Getting a code for fuel system sensor. After filling the tank, it reads full until around 70 miles and it drops and stays on empty. Have to go strictly by mileage to empty and that is not fool proof.

My 2014 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 Hemi is constantly displaying the check engine light. Computer scans reveal it is the fuel level sensor. This appears to be a very common problem for this era of Ram trucks. So many comments in Ram forums and on YouTube. This should be a recall due to the stock ones constantly being worn out. Videos and comments online show that mileage does not play a part in failure, as this is happening on vehicles with as little as 60,000 miles and up. This should also be a recall as this should not be attempted by vehicle owners without repair knowledge. So many videos online about jacking up the bed and being supported by 2x4 boards or if removing the gas tank, the static electricity concern. Though this code has come up at least twice before, I am including the most recent issue. I simply refill my truck with the highest premium to help clear the problem. It has worked thus far, but many others complain about the problem also resulting in a failed fuel gauge that constantly shows empty.

Took the truck to Larry H Miller Ram in Surprise AZ for the high pressure fuel pump recall on 29 Nov. Picked up the truck on [XXX]. About 1.5-2 miles down the road the truck started spraying fuel everywhere, losing traction. Was on a main road so I had to go about a mile before I could pull off the road safely. Called the dealership to come get me and the truck. Service advisor let me know the low pressure line fitting had failed! When I picked the truck up again on 3 Dec, the advisor told me that they are being pushed by the manufacturer to re-use one time use fittings and that is what failed on my truck! UNACCEPTABLE. Gas tank strap bracket. Gas tank strap bracket rusted off the frame and tank was hanging off. Went to closest shop where he identified the problem and fixed it ($1431.00). This is a know problem and a letter stating that the warranty period for the “tank strap mounting” was extended. We sent the bill to FCA US LLC customer Center and they refused to cover the cost.

We had our vehicle serviced at the Olathe Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram service center between the dates of May 26, 2024 through June 27th, 2024 on 3 separate occasions due to following. Received truck back on June 17th with a blown air suspension after confirming that the air suspension was filled firm when brought the truck in due to an email received for a recall and when driving the vehicle, the power steering kicked in due to the battery terminal not being secured properly (confirmed by AAA technician). No vehicle lights were turned on during this. Returned truck on June 25th, 2024, received truck on June 26th, 2024 where diesel gas was spewing from my truck sitting idol in my driveway after driving it straight home from the service center. Returned on June 27th, 2024 at 7:00 AM CST after being told by the Dodge technicians that I should've drove the truck to them and that diesel has a burning point of over 1,000 degrees. They towed my truck to the shop after I refused. Received my truck at 2:30 PM EST the same day for my road trip that had been scheduled for 6 months. On July 6th, 2024, when driving my truck 4 of the 5 lug nuts broke off completely in which the tire flew off of my truck and caused a singular car accident and damage to my vehicle. We could've been seriously injured due to where we were on the road. I had additional injury to my lower back during the accident incident. We had the vehicle inspected by the California local police department as well as the licensed technician who confirmed that this was negligence by the service center who serviced my truck less than 2 weeks prior. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the General Attorney due to not receiving any response from Dodge regarding this matter.

Fuel tank is hanging off almost hitting the ground. VERY DANGEROUS... There is NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL. Thousands of people are online complaining of this same problem. So, much where the (BRACKETS) are sold out, and on back order. The frame now has to be welded with a support plate to attach to new brackets. Gas tank strap fell off, tank was hanging, gouged my drive shaft. Frame where strap sit in is all rusted out. Strap will not stay up. Need to bring attention to this as it could if been a very hazardous condition, as a firefighter this should be under warranty.

I entered the off-ramp slightly turning right from the Interstate when all of a sudden the power steering went out and I heard a dinging sound. The steering wheel jerked left and almost sent me over a 30 ft. drop into a lake. I was very fortunate only to do a 180 degree spin with no damage to my truck.Had I not slowed down more than usual due to the rain I would surely be at the bottom of that lake. After coming to a halt and facing oncoming traffic I found the power steering did’nt work at all and doing a 3 point turn is not happening because I have 33 inch mud tires on my truck so I inched my way back and forth until I was able to get back into moving traffic. On my way home with no power steering, the power steering light is constantly flashing and all of a sudden I hear another ding. The gas gauge on the instrument panel is now reading Empty when I filled up that morning and I have a flashing Fuel Sensor Fail warning. This issue with the Power Steering needs to be recalled/fixed immediately. This is ridiculous to see nothing has been done and is still being investigated 1 year later with all of the complaints specifically regarding the power steering are right in front of you.

While I was driving my wife and I heard a sound that was similar to a ratchet strap being run over while attached to a vehicle. Once in my drive way I began to inspect what the noise could have been. After looking underneath my truck I could see my GAS TANK hanging at almost a 45 degree angle. I crawled underneath to see what had happened and found that 1 of 2 fuel tank straps had been ripped out of the frame of the truck. It wasn’t until later that I found a 12 year unlimited mile warranty was available. After speaking to a Ram dealer they informed me that ONLY the fuel straps were covered under the warranty and NONE of the damages that occur from their flawed and failed design are covered under that and if I want it covered then I would have to file a claim with my insurance. Keep in mind the fuel strap itself is only 50$ and that is all that will be covered, not the tank itself, fuel neck, gas lines, or any component of the evap system. So because Ram does not want to pay now I have to and I almost paid in full with my life and my wife’s. I encourage others to keep an eye on this so you don’t fall victim to this scam. It’s nice to know that for almost loosing my life and that of my wife Ram will only cover 50$. How much is your life worth?

With less than 50,000 miles on the vehicle, the fuel sensor went out and the check engine light came on. I replaced the fuel sensor and the fuel pump and it still did not correct the issue. After doing some research, I found this is known and common issue that is deserving of a recall.

This vehicle lost power while driving and would not re-start. A message came on dash saying “service electronic throttle” and then the vehicle burst into flames. There is a recall for other models with the same engine but not this vehicle. It is a safety hazard that almost killed me.

Front fuel tank bracket mount has failed at the frame. Front of fuel tank was hanging down below frame of truck. Rear bracket appears to be failing at same rate. Had they both failed at the same time the fuel tank would have fallen off into the roadway endangering others with a large object and 20+ gallons of diesel spilling. Along with the tank laying in the road the vehicle would have stopped running causing me to be immobile in the road leaving potential for a collision from the rear. No warning lamps or symptoms were present at the time. I can provide more detailed pictures when I remove tank to seek alternative repairs

Recall z46 states Dealers will replace the HPFP, and inspect and replace, if necessary, additional fuel system components, free of charge. After my dealer replaced fuel pump additional fuel system components failed, after dealer inspection I was told they only would change HPFP not honoring full recall for replacement of additional fuel system components. Putting me at risk of the original problem this recall was supposed to fix. My vehicle was fine with no engine check lights before I brought it for recall z46 after the first 10 miles since the recall i have 3 check engine light codes relating to fuel system.now it's sitting at the dealership lot with repairs to be completed.

Regarding [XXX] . I made an appointment to get the Important Safety Recall for the High Pressure Fuel Pump repaired. When I took the vehicle in for the repair on [XXX] I was informed that they did not have the part and they had been waiting a year for parts. Why I wasn't informed of this when I made the appointment is beyond me. If this Safety Recall is so important why is this dealership unable to obtain the parts? Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit - P0463. Yes, available for inspection. The Fuel level sensor cuts out and stops reporting fuel levels. This can lead to running out of gas on the highway or other dangerous situations that put the driver and others at risk. Also, the computer monitors stop reporting, therefore other aspects of the vehicle are compromised when the fuel level sensor stops working. The dealer confirms this is a common problem on this vehicle. Yes the vehicle was inspected by the dealer. The warning lamp check engine light comes on when the system fails. there is no prior warning.

The fuel sensor keeps failing and I have to replace . This is the 3rd one and the dealer and or company knows that it is defective and will not recall. Everytime I get it repaired it costs me 1200.00 because you have to drop fuel tank to get to. The fuel pump and sensor causes the truck not to start and the fuel gauge will not work . Also the straps holding the fuel tank are suspect as well for coming loose and causing fire.

The components that malfunctioned in my 2014 Ecodiesel Ram 1500 was the fuel sending unit and fuel pump. As I was driving on the freeway my truck started cutting out and stalling from 75 mph. It finally stalled and I was able to pull over in the middle island on the freeway I was on. The truck would start then turn off. The fuel gauge read over 1/4 tank of diesel fuel. The safety of myself or my family could have been at risk if someone else was driving that truck. Even for myself trying to pull out of full commuter traffic was very dangerous with a stalled vehicle. I don't know if the problem has been reproduced or reported by any other owner of the same vehicle. The only inspection was done by the Auto shop that works on my truck. Their were no warning lights or alerts on my dashboard display while this event took place. I had my vehicle towed to the shop that does service for me. They discovered I was out of fuel due to a faulty sending unit and fuel pump. The fuel gauge on the dash was showing 1/4 tank when it was actually empty.

TWO YEARS AGO MY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WENT BAD AND STOPPED READING MY GAS LEVEL. I HAD TO ORDER A NEW SENSOR ,FROM THE DEALER. WHICH COMES WITH A FUEL PUMP AND HAVE MY GAS TANK DROPPED TO REPLACE. THE PART HAS A ONE YEAR WARRANTY AND THE TOTAL COST IS APPR $900 TO FIX. NOW SIX MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED. MY GAS GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AND ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. A DIAGNOSTIC READER POINTS TO MY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. I CHECKED YOUTUBE AND RAM FORUMS TO SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT RAM REFUSES TO ADDRESS. CAN WE GET JUSTICE HERE?

Front fuel tank T strap has become corroded and detached from bracket causing fuel tank to hang down low in front and shakes while driving. Recall #18v-160 pertains to this specific issue for people like myself who live in salt belt BUT it only includes ram 1500’s up to year 2012 however 2013-2014 rams have this same exact T strap as the one recalled. This is a huge safety issue as it could cause a fire. I should not have to pay for this repair when Chrysler knows it’s a faulty part. I don’t understand why that recall wouldn’t cover 2014 ram 1500’s when it’s exactly the same as the 2012 covered ram 1500’s.

No start issue. I initially started my truck and it was running very rough and the check engine light came on so I shut it off, and then attempted to restart my truck and it turned over fine but would not start. This left me stranded out of town late in the day so I had it towed to my home. I have now learned that there are two outstanding recalls, one for the tone wheel (20V475) and for the high pressure fuel pump (22V406) either of which would cause a no start. I have contacted a local dealership and they informed me that they already have a truck in their shop for the same problems and it has been there for over six months. I then called the dealership were I purchased it on July 10, 2023 and they said they could not take care me because the parts are not available and suggested I take it to an independent repair shop.

This is in regard to NHTSA recall 22V-406. This recall has been in effect for over a year, with the possibility of the vehicle shutting down while driving causing a crash. They have not issued a remedy in a timely manner. Can the NHTSA please follow up as this is a safety issue. Thanks.

The fuel gauge and fuel sensor is faulty in my 2014 Ram 1500 and there are thousands of owners for Ram 1500s with the exact same issue. This should be a National recall. My vehicle is currently on a full tank but reads this way.

the fuel tank straps disconnected, it appears there was a recall on the 2009-2012 ram 1500 trucks. The issue persists in the later years as well, 2 of the 3 straps disconnected.

Over a year ago I received a recall for my 2014 Eco Diesel 1500 truck for Z46 recall for a high pressure fuel pump, I called numerous time for repair but was told the part was not available. On 6/29/2023 while traveling on the highway, the truck loss power and I had to make an emergency stop on the side of the road, with trucks and cars zipping pass me, I got there safely and called a tow truck. Vehicle was towed to Leith Dodge Ram, in Wendell, NC for repair. They told me the fuel pump exploded and there was shards in the engine. The Service Manager Doug Welch said it would be fixed as they are responsible because of the recall. They don't answer any messages I left and refuse to let me know when I will get my truck back. Please help!!! They need to fix it or replace it. Thank you in advance for your help

When driving vehicle with my with the check engine light appeared. We were on interstate and truck would not accelerate above 45-50 mph with intermittent surges. I called dealership and they took in my vehicle and replaced the Module Powertrain Control stating that would fix issue. After replacing MPC they check engine light was still not repaired. Dealership told me that fuel pump, fuel lines, intake manifold, and coolant leak needed to be repaired, I asked dealership if that would fix issue and they stated that they did not know and were working with Chrysler/Dodge/Ram to resolve. After a total of 7 weeks the repairs are still not completed. Prior to picking up vehicle I called FCA USA LLC and asked what was being done to get recalls repaired and received responses that repair solution has not been sent to dealerships and another stated parts were not available. I picked up truck and was told that I would need to add coolant every 3 days and not let the fuel level get low to keep fuel pump from failing. I spoke with FCA - Dodge ram and they stated they still do not have parts or a repair for the two recalls mention. In addition the coolant leak would not be repaired under warranty since I had the EGR and intake replaced as a recall due to a failure in 2021. They stated warranties do not apply to recall work. My concern is that they cannot fix the two outstanding year old recalls and have no direction for dealerships. How do I get these issues fixed?

This is the second attempt reporting this issue with this vehicle and I have not received any response. This vehicle has recalls and was sold with recalls, in which I find this highly irresponsible from all angles. You can see for yourself the safety risks, it is very clear it is a safety hazard issue. Yes, the vehicle has been looked at and we have the proper paperwork and also, yes, warning lights have come on and they were checked and dismissed as “normal.” It is not normal, nor is it safe, nor is this acceptable. Not a single person, manufacturer, even cares to fix this problem that did not occur on our behalf, it is due to horrible manufacturing. How these vehicles are allowed to be sold blows my mind.

Air suspension system fails causing dangerous driving condition. This is an ongoing issue which began periodically when temperatures dropped below 32 degrees. Now it is occurring more frequently causing the vehicles steering and stability to be compromised. Fuel tank strap failed due to heavy rust causing one end of tank to drop and scrap on the road surface. Potential safety and fire hazard.

This whole vehicle has several recalls, looking at what the recalls stated, those are all safety issues that could occur at any moment. The engine has failed in said vehicle. The issues at hand have been confirmed by a registered mechanic. He was unable to locate any engine for this vehicle and it was taken to a dealership, in which they will not fix. Also, have been in touch with Stillantis, however, after giving them time to respond after the initial conversation, to find out they never took down our information. Another issue is they lied and said the dealership said it was fine. The problem is that was a definite lie. They did not know where or what dealership. This vehicle was made and sold to be reliable but, it is not. There are recalls and there have been class action lawsuits but, no one is willing to help with something that was not to be sold in the first place.

This is an ongoing problem where if my fuel level gets down to about a quarter of a tank the truck will spurt and stall. I try to keep a minimum half tank at most times. This recall has been about a year now with no remedy in place. This is a true safety issue and needs to be resolved and all the service tech's say is there's no remedy at this time. I would like to trade/sell this vehicle but it should be sold with a safety recall like this. Why is nothing being done about this.

On May 26th, 2023 I was driving my Ram 1500 with 3.0 liter diesel down a multilane road with traffic. At about 30 mph, normal driving, the engine stalled without warning and power brakes and steering were lost. Traffic continued to pass as I had to cross lanes of traffic and coast to a stop out of the way of traffic. The vehicle could not be restarted or put into neutral to move. There were no abnormal driving issues, noises, warnings, or messages prior to the event. The truck was towed to a Ram dealership for inspection. The engine code clearly indicated that there was an issue with the crankshaft sensor. The dealership diagnosis was that the oil pump had failed and the engine was destroyed. After towing it to a second, independent shop, the actual diagnosis is that the reluctor wheel (tone wheel) and crankshaft sensor had failed, preventing fuel injection to the engine. This is a known issue on 2014-2016 Ram Ecodiesel trucks. My truck (manufactured in May 2014) was not a part of the recall. Once the transmission was removed to validate the tone wheel issue, it was confirmed when the mechanic found that the magnetic strip on the tone wheel had delaminated and broken off. The magnetic strip had multiple cracks. This part is in my possession and available for inspection. After replacing the tone wheel and crankshaft position sensor, the truck was back to running normally. The repair was completed by the shop at my expense because Ram refused to address the tone wheel issue or even look into it because it wasn't under recall. As of June 9th of 2023, Ram has said that they are possibly going to issue a recall for this (66A) but will not cover the expense because it was not repaired at a Ram dealership.

Fuel Level sensor fails, purchased truck in 2022 and it was fine, filled up one day and check engine light came out, noticed when I fill up again it goes off. This is a faulty part the "fuel level sensor" 1,000s of forums and youtube videos about it, can't believe Ram hasn't recalled this.

In reference to: NHTSA Recall #22V-406, FCA Recall #Z46. On June 9, 2022 FCA contacted me by mail to inform me that the High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) on my 2014 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel is being recalled. I was informed that I would be contacted when parts are available. As of today (a year later, June 19, 2023), the parts remain unavailable. My dealership said they have no parts and I have to talk to the MOPAR Recall department. The MOPAR Recall department stated I have to resolve the issue at the dealership. Meanwhile, neither the dealership nor MOPAR claim to have parts and will not repair the vehicle. MOPAR and the dealership have me running circles and neither of them claim to have parts or a way to get the parts so the recall work can be completed on my vehicle. I think I'm getting the run-around.

I have noticed the slight loss of power for the recall that is listed. It has been almost a year now and still no answer. I have contacted my dealer and they say it will be atleast till the end of the year. I have had some very close call instances, fortunately I have had no accidents. I have had to replace 2 fuel pumps. I really do not want to replace another one, but it seems as though they last about 6 months. I feel it would be appropriate to speed this proccess up or if i could get a rental until this recall is fixed. Thank you.

Front gas tank support failed dropping the front of the tank. Fuel tank made contact with driveshaft but no fuel was spilled. It appears the frame rusted and the actual strap didn't fail. I took new delivery of this 2014MY vehicle in Dec 2013. I will likely repair this myself but have not started repairs yet.

While driving I heard a sound under the truck. When I pulled over I looked under the truck and noted that one of the straps that holds the gas tank up had come loose. Further inspection noted that the strap had not broken, the part where it connected to the frame had rusted out and let the strap loose. When I looked into it I found out there was a safety recall for the same issue in prior model years. I had this repaired at Waldorf Dodge and they did not cover it under the previous recall. Please look into whether there have been other reports of the same issue for later model years than the recall covers.

Driving on down the roadway and went over a small pothole at approximately 35mph. Heard a loud bang underneath the vehicle. After parking the vehicle, I saw the front of the fuel tank was hanging close to the roadway. I found that the fuel tank strap had pulled out from the frame where it was seated. I researched the issue and saw a recall for 2009-2012 Dodge Ram pickups for the same reason (Safety Recall U04 / NHTSA 18V-160 Frame Bracket). It does not seem Ram/Dodge addressed this issue on the 2014 Dodge Ram. If I had not stopped my full 32 gallon fuel tank would have contacted the ground spilling fuel and possibly catching fire. This is very concerning consider this vehicle is a daily driver for me and my family (wife and four children). I believe this is an issue that also needs to be recalled considering it was done for the 2012 Rams already.

Faulty mount of strap to frame caused this issue during normal driving conditions.. was informed of recall for issue on ram trucks up to 2012. My year (2014) does not appear to be included.

Fuel tank strap (rear) rusted and fell off causing the gas tank to hang down dangerously close to the road. The bracket that holds the "T" end of the strap rusted through and the strap fell out. *THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE FOR 08-12 MODELS* I previously owned a 2012 model and had this taken care of under the recall. The 2014 model looks no different to me, but there is no recall issued for it.

I was driving my truck, on a highway, with 4 kids in it when I heard a horrible grinding noise. I stopped and looked under the truck and found that the fuel tank was hanging by 1 strap. I would imagine that if I drove further or hit a bump, the truck would've exploded. The bracket that holds the strap was completely rusted so the strap let go. I did some research online and found that this is a common problem with these trucks. How can there not be a recall??? Luckily I had some racket straps and I crawled under the truck, on the highway, jacked up the tank and strapped it in. I was horrified. I keep my truck in almost pristine condition and with my research, I found out that there were no drain holes installed on the strap mounts which would cause them to prematurely rust. This must be fixed immediately to prevent fatalities.

Fuel sensor failure at around 100,000 miles. A quick search reveals this is an extremely common issue and even more upsetting is seeing how many people experience recurrent failures within a year of replacing. This is a major safety issue if my vehicle randomly runs out of gas on a busy highway, which is far more likely considering the sensor failure will not allow the engine to enter ECO mode. My other issue is the hemi tick which could either be the exhaust bolts or the cam going out. Why haven't these issues been recalled?

2014 RAM ECO DIESEL. THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE PASSING A SEMI TRUCK. THIS FAILURE SENT METAL THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM TO INCLUDE; INJECTORS, FUEL LINES, FUEL RETURN LINES, FUEL RAIL, AND FUEL TANK. THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY WENT INTO LIMP MODE, THEN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND FINALLY A LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT. NO OTHER WARNINGS OR SYMPTOMS APPEARED PRIOR TO FAILURE. I PULLED ON THE INTERSTATE IMMEDIATELY AS THE TRUCK HAD NO POWER. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WITHIN 30 SECONDS OR SO. I WAS FORCED TO QUICKLY MOVE TO THE SHOULDER AND MOVE OUT OF THE TRUCKS WAY AS MY VEHICLE WAS EMITTING SIGNIFICANT WHITE SMOKE OUT OF THE EXHAUST. The bracket for the gas tank was rusted and fell off while I was driving home last night. The front of the gas tank dropped down about 6”. I am still waiting to hear from the dealer to see if it is covered because I know there were safety issues with other years with Ram trucks. Then I will have to get it towed there and repaired.

While in the process of unhitching my camping trailer, I put the truck in reverse to gently center the tow ball under the hitch when the vehicle suddenly accelerated at high RPMs and lurched backward. I braked but the engine continued racing at high speed. Braking was completely ineffective as the tires continued "burning rubber" on the pavement. My wife was helping me guide the vehicle when this occurred. The only thing that prevented an accident and serious injury to my wife and me was the trailer. The trailer's wheels were still chocked, but the sudden, forceful acceleration dislodged the jack stand and pushed the trailer back approximately 4 to 5 inches. The acceleration stopped on its own after approximately 30 seconds. This was a terrifying experience that had the potential for a tragic outcome. This problem has not been yet been diagnosed by a dealer or service center, as it just occurred a few hours ago. There were no warning lamps or any other symptoms preceding it.

Driving in stop and go traffic only to watch my fuel gauge unexpectedly go down to empty not knowing why. Had to get towed to shop because did not know what was going on. Shop said was fuel gauge sensor and cost me over $900 to replace plus anxiety being towed in rush hour traffic.

The front strap that holds the fuel tank broke free from the bracket that secures it. The gas tank dropped down and could have fallen off. After inspection the bracket was found to be rusted to the point that it could no longer hold the "T" end of the gas tank strap. Once one side of the strap broke free the hanging strap was grinding against the drive shaft. That was the only sign that there was a problem. This would certainly be an ignition source. There was a recall for this same problem, but it only included Ram pickups to 2011.

I believe the fuel sensor problem I am having is a design failure by RAM and should be resolved due to a recall as a potential safety hazard. My fuel sensor fails which in turn, drops my fuel gauge to empty. Thus, I cannot tell how much fuel is left in the tank. This also engages the check engine light which does not allow the engine to go into ECO mode. There are at least two issues in play here. The first, as previously mentioned, I have not idea how much gas I have left. Since I drive on the highway to work every week day, this is a huge safety issue as I could run out of gas on the middle of the highway. This is not only a danger to myself, but other motorists as well. The second issue being the disengaging of ECO mode. This leads to higher gas consumption, thus lower gas mileage which would refute the state gas mileage that RAM claims for the truck. This leads to burning more gas, which leads to an empty tank (see above for safety reasons of an empty gas tank). I have searched online and there are hundreds of other people experiencing the same problem. If you want to prevent the deaths of hundreds of people, you will issue a recall. Your decision on this directly affects the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of motorists and I look forward to hearing your decision on this.

I have a faulty fuel level sensor on my 2014 Ram 1500. I went to my nearest dealer and they informed me that it was a common issue with Ram trucks. It was enough of an issue that they were aware but not enough for Ram to recall. To repair this sensor would cost between $700-$900. Please recall this already. It stinks to gauge how much fuel I have left based on how many miles I drove.

Fuel sending unit bad at 55,000 miles. This is unacceptable for a unit to go bad at this short of time. Everyone on the internet is complaining about the cost to replace this item and how often that it fails on all the Ram trucks. There should be a recall on this item immediately, as the cost to replace unit is in the 600- 900 dollar range, depending who fixes it. Then they also recommend you replace the hangers at the same time as they are also rotting out. Please do something about this and help the consumer beat this back to the manufacture to do it right!!! Already contacted Ram about this issue and the high cost of repair.

Hydraulic lifters seize up causing the vehicle to lose power. The check engine light comes on with code P0305 meaning the number five cylinder is misfiring this is due to not having enough oil going to the hydraulic lifter. I have mentioned this to the dealership and they said there is no recall on it but they have had a lot of issues and have parts readily available to fix this problem. The front fuel strap broke free from it's connection point to the frame, letting the front of the fuel tank sag towards the ground. It appears the connection slot on the frame has corroded and the strap pulled free from the connection slot on the frame. The issue could have been a lot worse if I had been traveling on the freeway buy luckily it broke on a residential street. The problem has been known to be found in 09-12 ram pickups. No current recalls for a 2014. A local dealership will be looking at it on Friday June 18th. The truck can be available to inspect but I currently have no other means of transportstion, so I plan on getting the strap fixed asap. There were no warning lights or any other indication of the strap failing prior to it coming free. I heard an odd humming/vibrating noise, initially thought it was an issue with the tires, but when I pulled over on the side of the road to inspect what was making the noise, I found the tank sagging and the front strap was no longer supporting it. I was able to get underneath the truck and verify that the strap was no longer attached to the frame, the fuel tank is temporarily being supported by a ratchet strap that I installed myself.

The inline fuel system is incorrect and the electrical should not be in the tank! There should be filter at the neck then there should be a screen at the bottom of the tank where the outlet is then there should be a hose to the fuel filter and then from the fuel filter there should be an electrical pump the electrical pump should never be in the fuel tank and the electrical fuel pump is in the fuel tank which can cause I major fire! All vehicles have this problem and need to be fixed!

The inline fuel pump system is incorrect it has electrical inside the fuel tank there should be a screen at the neck of the fuel tank then there should be a screen at the bottom of the fuel tank by the outlet at the bottom of fuel tank then a hose to the fuel filter then there should be a fuel pump then the lines fuel lines to engine! Because the electrical is in the tank it will cause a fire! To fix the problem with the float to keep the electrical out of the fuel tank on the fuel gauge you should put the electrical lines at the top of the tank with a rheostat then have the float turn as it increases or decreases which turns the rheostat and sends the signal 2 the Gauge so all of the electrical is out of the tank this is the safest!

I WOULD SUMMARIZE THESE ISSUES AS TURBO LAG AND IMPROPER SHIFT MAPPING. WHILE DRIVING I HAD A SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR UNIT ALONG WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CONSTANT ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SENSOR FAIL, I'VE HAD 4 FUEL PUMPS PUT ON THE TRUCK IN THE SIX YEARS I'VE HAD IT. AT ONE POINT THE DEALER HAD MY TRUCK FOR A MONTH TRYING TO FIX. I JUST CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP LAST WEEK, PICKED IT UP FRIDAY AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON TODAY. IT'S A DEFECT WITH THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY THAT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO RECALL. SPOKE TO SEVERAL LOCAL MECHANICS THAT SAID THE EXACT SAME THING, KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE SENSOR THAT REQUIRES THE TANK TO BE DROPPED TO FIX. WHEN TANK IS FULL, TRUCK FUNCTIONS FINE. ONCE TANK DROPS TO APPROX. 3/4 OF A TANK, EVERYTHING COMES BACK (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAIL). AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS I NOTICED THAT WHEN MY GAS WAS LESS THAN 3/4 FULL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AGAIN, WHILE DRIVING. MY GAS GAUGE AND MILE RANGE DROPPED TO ZERO. WHEN I FILLED THE GAS TANK THE GAUGE WENT BACK TO FULL WITH THE NUMBER OF MILE RANGE. AGAIN, WHEN THE GAS WAS ABOUT 3/4, THE GAUGE DROPPED OFF. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOW REMAINED ON CONSTANTLY.

THROTTLE RESPONSE IS DELAYED AND, IF TRYING TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC, IS DANGEROUS DUE TO THE DELAY IN THROTTLE RESPONSE. IN ADDITION TO DRIVABILITY ISSUES, THE FUEL MILEAGE HAS DECREASED SIGNIFICANTLY, PROBABLY 20%.

ADDED ANTIFREEZE SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN THE ENGINE STARTED BLOWING WHITE SMOKE, ENGINE KNOCKING LIKE A LOOSE CRANK OR ROCKER ARM TRUCK LOST COMPLETE POWER. THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED TO RAM DEALER IN RIVERHEAD, AFTER SPENDING 1600 DOLLARS FOR ENGINE DIAGNOSIS, WHICH WAS CLEAR APPARENT TO ANYONE , THE SAID ENGINE WAS NO GOOD.

RAM FORUMS HAVE SHOWN THAT OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE BEGIN FROM 20K MILES AND UP FROM THERE. THE ISSUE IS THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD STOP FUNCTIONING AND READ EMPTY. CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON WHICH CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO NO LONGER OPERATE IN ECO ( DESCRIBE 4 CYLINDERS FOR BETTER FUEL ECONOMY) MODE UNTILL THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. SOME OWNERS AS WELL AS MY SELF HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE STALL OUT, FORCING ME TO NAVIGATE TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. USUALLY STARTS RIGHT UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE WILL REMAIN ON. WITH MY VEHICLE IF THE TANK IS FULL THE GUEST WORKS AND I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM UNTILL 40-60 MILES INTO DRIVING WHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME BACK ON AND AT TIMES CAUSING THE STALL. OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THAT THE GUAGE DOES NOT WORK 100% OF THE TIME. INS CO TOTALED TRUCK OUT, THEY STILL HAVE AN OPEN CLAIM AGAINST RAM. ADDITIONALLY RAM DENYING MY EMISSIONS SETTLEMENT OF 3K ONLY OFFERING 900 (STATING EMISSIONS WORK COULDN'T BE DONE DUE TO FIRE CLASSIFYING ME AS A PREVIOUS OWNER ALTHOUGH I WAS CURRENT OWNER EVEN AT THAT TIME). WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (70 MPH) A MIST OF VAPOR APPEARED BEHIND THE TRUCK CAUSING OTHER VECHICLES TO PULL TO THE SIDE TO AVOID THE FUEL BEING SPRAYED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND MASSIVE FUEL SPILL COVERED THE CONCRETE AND DRIPPED FROM EVERY UNDERCARRIAGE LOWPOINT. SMOKE AND SIZZLING WAS OBSERVED AND WE FLED A SAFE DISTANCE FROM VEHICLE. THIS IS A REPEAT FAILURE OF THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINE. THIS IS THE FIFTH FAILURE AND IT HAS SEVERAL MORE ATTEMPTED TO SOLVE THE LEAK PRIOR TO CLOSING THE WORK ORDERS. FAILURE APPEARS TO HAPPEN AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES OF BEING IN SERVICE. NO ROOT CAUSE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR THIS FAILURE. VEHICLE IS IN THE POSSESSION OF FCA AND NO CLEAR PATH HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ME ON HOW THIS IS GOING TO BE RESOLVED AND I AM WITHOUT MY TRUCK. COUPLE MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTY ROAD, TRUCK THREW CODE ELECTRONIC IGNITION THROTTLE CONTROL, COULD NOT GET ANY PRESSURE, SMOKING UNDER HOOD AND FROM BEHIND. APPEARED TO HAVE CAUGHT FIRE AGAIN BUT TRUCK DID NOT SHUT DOWN AS IN 1ST SITUATION. HAD TOWED TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. HAS BEEN THERE NOW FOR 14 DAYS. HAVING TO REPLACE EGR COOLER AND INTAKE MANIFOLD ALONG WITH A LOT OF SEALS AS I LEARNED THEY ARE PLASTIC AND MELTED DUE TO FIRE TWICE. WHY WOULD DODGE MAKE ANY INTAKE ESPECIALLY ON AN ECO DIESEL PLASTIC? SOUNDS LIKE ASKING FOR A FIRE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO TOO...THESE PARTS BEING REPLACED AND BEING COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY ARE ALSO PART OF THE "ECO DIESEL SETTLEMENT" SETTLED ON MAY 3RD, 3019 WHICH MY TRUCK WAS TOWED ON MAY 2, WHICH IN THIS SETTLEMENT THEY AWARDED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE EXACT PARTS BEING REPLACED. THE DIAGNOTICS SHOULD AN ACTIVE FAULT IN THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND FCAS RESPONCE BACK WAS SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL THE REPAIRS. MY MAIN COMPLAINT IS THIS IS A REACCURING PROBLEM WITH THEIR FUEL SENDING UNITS WITH MANY RAM OWNERS AND ALL FCA WILL TELL YOU IS TAKE IT TO YOUR DEALERSHIP. $476.00 LATER THEY REPLACED THE OLD SENDING UNIT WITH THE SAME OEM PART NUMBER THAT I BELIEVE IS A FAULTY PART AND THEY WILL ONLY WARRANTY THIS PART GOT 2 YEARS. FCA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND IF THE COMPANY FEELS THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF RELACEMENT THAT NEEDS TO BE EXPRESSED TO THE CUSTOMER WHEN FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THEM.

IN BOTH CASES WE HAD STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A SLIGHT INCLINE OR DECLINE. THEN WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED WE MADE A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN INTO A DECLINE OR INCLINE AND STALLED OUT. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I THOUGHT IT WAS A CLOGGED FUEL FILTER, BUT DIDN'T THINK TO TRY PRIMING THE FUEL SYSTEM AND RESTARTING BEFORE REPLACING THE FILTER. THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 1000 MILES LATER I POURED 5 GALLONS OF DIESEL IN, PRIMED THE FUEL SYSTEM AND IT RESTARTED. I THEN FILLED THE TANK AND REALIZED THAT THERE WAS ABOUT 5 GALLONS LEFT WHEN IT STALLED. THIS CAUSED ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE FUEL WAS SLOSHING AROUND THE PUMP IN SCENARIOS AS DESCRIBED. WE LATER REALIZED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT DROP BELOW A 1/4 TANK AND NO LOW FUEL LIGHTS APPEAR. THE TRUCK WAS LATER DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A FAULTING FUEL SENDING UNIT. 2) THE SECOND ISSUE IS AT 51K MILES WE HAD A MAJOR DEF EMISSION SYSTEM FAILURE. THE FIRST EVENT PROVIDED 500 MILES OF WARNING BEFORE THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART. IT COST $2855 TO REPLACE A FAULT DEF TANK/SENSOR. THE SECOND TIME ONLY 1000 MILES LATER WE ONLY HAD 200 MILES WARNING AND COST $716 TO REPLACE A NOX SENSOR AND MODULE. IN BOTH CASES WE DROVE THE TRK TO A DEALER, BUT BOTH DEALERSHIPS REFUSED TO COVER IT UNDER THE 96MONTH/80,000 MILE "MAJOR EMISSION COMP WARRANTY." I'VE HAVE REPORTED BOTH ISSUE TO FCA VIA THEIR WEBSITE. NHTAS/ODI HAS MY PERMISSION TO RELEASE MY NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION TO FCA TO DISCUSS SPECIFICS OF THIS ISSUE.

BROUGHT TO DEALER - TECHNICIAN VERIFIED CODE P0463 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH; TESTED SYSTEM AND FOUND FAULTY FUEL PUMP MODULE. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 32,224 MILES BUT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT'S OVER 3 YEARS. COST FOR NEW FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS $456 PLUS $347 LABOR ($803 TOTAL). WHEN REVIEWING COMPLAINTS ON THIS YEAR TRUCK/MODEL OTHER PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS PART SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND IN MY CASE, SINCE THE TRUCK HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION. CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH FAULTY FUEL PUMP MODULES IN 2014 RAM 1500 TRUCKS.

BOTH THE DEALERSHIP & CHRYSLER HAVE DENIED ALL OWNERSHIP AND NO ROOT CAUSE EVALUATION HAS BEEN COMPLETED. I BELIEVE A FUEL LINE FAILED DUE TO FAULTY WORKMANSHIP, BUT WITHOUT A THIRD PARTY INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION I GUESS WE WILL NEVER KNOW AND SOME OTHER CUSTOMER MAY EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING.

I HAVE A RECURRING ISSUE WITH RODENTS CHEWING THROUGH THE FUEL LINE ON MY 2014 RAM 1500. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES SINCE DECEMBER, 2016 AND IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF. THE FUEL LINE, ACCORDING TO MULTIPLE TECHS AND REPRESENTATIVES WHO HAVE WORKED ON MY TRUCK, HAS CONNECTIONS MADE OF A "SOY-BASED" PRODUCT WHICH IS ATTRACTIVE TO RODENTS. WHEN THE LINES GET CHEWED THROUGH, THE FUEL BEGINS TO LEAK VERY QUICKLY WHILE I HAVE BEEN IN MOTION ON PUBLIC STREETS. ONE OF THE THREE TIMES, MY REAR TIRES ACTUALLY LOST TRACTION COMPLETELY CAUSING ME TO BRIEFLY LOSE CONTROL OF MY TRUCK. THE AMOUNT OF FUEL THAT LEAKS IS SIGNIFICANT, USUALLY EMPTYING MY TANK FROM NEARLY FULL TO EMPTY IN SECONDS. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPOND BEFORE THE TRUCK COULD BE TOWED DUE TO THE SIGNIFICANT FIRE HAZARD THIS POSSES. IF THERE WERE TO BE AN IGNITION SOURCE OF ANY KIND, THE TRUCK WOULD CATCH FIRE AND POSSIBLY CAUSE SIGNIFICANT HARM TO MYSELF OR OTHERS. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO CHRYSLER/RAM'S ATTENTION AND THEY HAVE MADE NO EFFORT TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED, ALTHOUGH THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE DANGER INVOLVED WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE REPS I HAVE DEALT WITH EXPLAINED THAT THIS FUEL LINE IS MADE WITH SOY TO MAKE THE PART "ECO-FRIENDLY". THE REPAIR IS COSTLY AND, ACCORDING TO THE REPAIRING DEALERSHIP, CAN ONLY BE MADE USING THE SAME FLAWED "SOY-BASED" FUEL LINES. I HAVE ATTACHED PICTURES SHOWING THE CHEWED CONNECTIONS AS WELL AS INVOICES FOR THE THREE REPAIRS I HAVE HAD MADE. OTHER CAR COMPANIES HAVE CLASS ACTION SUITS FOR SOY-BASED WIRING HARNESSES AND FUEL LINES, SO I DO NOT KNOW WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED WITH THE RAM TRUCKS. THE SENDING UNIT WOULD NOT REGISTER A FULL TANK. WHEN THE UNIT INDICATED THE TANK WAS EMPTY (WHEN IT WAS NOT) THE VEHICLE IS REQUIRED TO GO INTO LIMP MODE(3-5MPH). THERE IS A DISTURBING TREND AMONG AUTOMAKERS TO ELIMINATE DIPSTICKS FROM THEIR TRANSMISSIONS. THIS CAN BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. I PURCHASED MY 2014 RAM 1500 NEW LATE LAST YEAR. RETURNING ON A ROAD TRIP TO NEW JERSEY LAST MONTH THE TRANSMISSION JERKED HORRIBLY. ONCE BACK HOME I PROMPTLY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE SHIFT POINTS AND IT WORKED SMOOTHLY FOR A FEW WEEKS. THEN IT STARTED SLIPPING AT 10 MPH. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY CHECKED THE FLUID LEVEL FROM THE FILL PORT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PAN AND DISCOVERED IT WAS A QUART LOW FROM THE FACTORY. THIS IS A TERRIBLE DESIGN AND FORCES OWNERS INTO THREE OPTIONS ; 1. IGNORE THEIR TRANSMISSION.2. HAVE TO TAKE IT TO AN EXPENSIVE MECHANIC OR THE DEALER. 3.THIS IS WHERE IT CAN GET DANGEROUS, GET UNDERNEATH THEIR VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING TO GET THE FLUID TO THE NECESSARY TEMPERATURE TO ACCURATELY CHECK IT. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF SHADE TREE MECHANICS WILL ENDANGER THEIR LIVES TO CHECK THEIR FLUID LEVELS. FORD HAS A SIMILARLY FLAWED DESIGN ON ITS PICK UP TRUCKS AS WELL. I COVERED 750 MILES ON A SINGLE TANK ( 32 GALLONS ). HOWEVER THERE IS MORE TO THE OWNERSHIP EXPERIENCE THAN THAT. BEING ABLE TO CHECK SIMPLE THINGS LIKE FLUID LEVELS BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER A CROSS COUNTRY ROAD TRIP AND JUST AROUND TOWN IS VERY IMPORTANT. WITH ALL THE VOLUMES OF MOTOR VEHICLE REGULATIONS ON THE BOOKS I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS DESIGN WAS ALLOWED TO GO INTO PRODUCTION. ALSO, THE ROTARY SHIFT KNOB ON THESE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS SEEMS LIKE A FATALITY WAITING TO HAPPEN. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION PAN IS CONSTRUCTED OF PLASTIC WITH THE FILTER BUILT IN TO THE PAN.
