Fuel tank strap fell out of the holding slot and came the strap came into contact with drive shaft cutting the rear driveshaft into. causing it to drop and slinging it self under the truck till I got stoped driving down the road this could have caused a gas leak and sparks igniting the fuel or the back half of the drive shaft could had dug into the road causing the lost of control or flipping the truck
The magnetic material on the tone wheel detached causing a crank position sensor error code (P0336) and subsequent misfire while accelerating into traffic. The software had been updated per recall W58 (NHSTA 20V-475). Vehicle could be restarted but lacked full power. The vehicle is out of warranty, however, Stellantis directed that a dealer make repairs, customer pays out of pocket ($3200), and claim be submitted for reimbursement. Stellantis promptly denied the claim, despite correspondence in writing and recorded customer service phone call. A BBB complaint has been filed against Stellantis.
Fuel tank bracket come off dropping the front of the fuel tank and got against the drive shaft and cut it in half causing the drive shaft to drop and bang around the under the truck to I was Abel to get stoped in the middle of the hwy this could had been a very serious. Have contacted Ram and this is a known problem that they do not want to repair the damage caused by the strap the drive shaft could had dug into the pavement cousin the truck to crash or bust the fuel tank and creating the tank to explode causing serious injury or death
The abs module for this vehicle has failed and is a major safety hazard. A known issue that has been on going with this particular part for years. I myself have waited over 6 months with a lemon of a truck because the part is on back order. We have called multiple dealerships and their response has been, “the part is on manufacturing review. “ No recall for this specific part has been issued and no dealership/insurance or Chrysler themselves have not provided us or any others with a solution.
ABS module malfunctioned, auto maker has no available replacement. No ABS module available, vehicle is undrivable, no parts being made to fix.
The electric power steering (EPS) system on my 2014 Ram 1500 has intermittently failed, most recently when transitioning from idle, such as leaving a parking lot, and during deep turns. This marks the third time I've experienced steering-related issues with this truck. Each time the EPS fails, a "Service Power Steering" alert appears, and the steering becomes extremely difficult, posing a serious safety risk, especially in situations requiring precise maneuvering or sudden corrections. A sudden loss of steering control could lead to a collision, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. This issue has been previously repaired twice—once by the original dealer and once under warranty after I purchased the truck, without prior knowledge of the problem. Despite these repairs, the failure has returned, indicating an unresolved or recurring defect. The issue has not yet been diagnosed or confirmed by a dealer or independent mechanic for this latest occurrence. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
I had my 2014 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel serviced for a recall regarding the crankshaft position sensor, recall 66A/NHSTA 23V-411 in December of 2023. The recall calls for an update to be downloaded to the crankshaft position sensor to allow it to continue functioning when the adhesive fails on the magnetic strip on the tone wheel. In January of 2025 I was driving down the road when the Service Electronic Throttle Control System light came on. I immediately lost power, my truck wouldn't go above 3K RPMs, and has a hard time starting. I took it to the dealership on January 21, 2025 and they diagnosed it as needing the crankshaft position sensor replaced. The dealership quoted me $1600 to replace. I called Ram to see if they would cover the bill since that part is recalled. They said that since the 8 year warranty is expired, and the recall had already been served, they would not honor the recall. My concern is that adhesive on the magnetic strip failed, causing the crankshaft position to be damaged. This occurred while driving at low speeds. Had this happened while driving down the interstate, the sudden loss of power could have been catastrophic. My truck still will not go above 3K RPMs, has very little power, and has trouble starting. Even though this part is recalled, neither the dealership nor the manufacturer will cover the costs to replace the part.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, an audible warning chime and the "Service Shifter" message was displayed. The contact drove the vehicle; however, upon restart of the engine, the gear shifter failed to move out of park(P). The vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic where several undisclosed repair attempts were made; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where the contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle remained in the dealer possession unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.

W58/NHTSA 20V-475 repair failure. Crankshaft tone (reluctor) wheel delamination of magnetic material with loss of crankshaft position. Update to powertrain control module software did not prevent engine stall. Safety recall W58 completed 22 May 2023 (79K miles) with update to the powertrain control module software to maintain engine operation if the signal material is lost. On [XXX] truck had engine stall while in parking lot. I could have had accident endangering self and others if engine stall occurred on highway. Following repeated start attempts and an uncharacteristically long start, a "Service Electronic Throttle Control" message came on. I was able to drive the few miles home. I took truck to dealership for service. Service advisor said following diagnostics, that crankshaft tone wheel needs replacement and not covered by existing recall warranty. I was charged $2635.18 and lost use of vehicle for a week. Invoice states "Found missing segment from tone wheel". Tone Wheel failure. Listed as a remedy for recall 66a but dealer said my VIN doesn’t qualify for wheel replacement even though I qualify for 66a. My vehicle received the same faulty tone wheel that other got recalled. Please update 73a to include my batch of VIN numbers.
The reluctor wheel on my 2014 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel has failed. The truck was taken to the dealer on May 8th of 2023 where they flashed the ECU as a remedy for the vehicle losing signal between the magnetic material on the Tone Wheel (reluctor wheel). A few months later the vehicle went into "limp mode" with a crankshaft position sensor fault and became hard to start. A local mechanic shop explained to me that the tone wheel is has failed leading to the hard starting and advised me that there is a Technical Service Bulletin on the issue and I should call a local dealer to see if they will do the repair at no cost. I called a local dealer to tell them that the tone wheel has failed and asked if it was part of the recall [XXX] ). I was told no that it is not part of the recall and repairs would be an out of pocket cost. These tone wheel failures are a known issue by the manufacturer and flashing the ECU is a half measure at best in an effort for them to do as little as possible to address the actual issue for the consumer. The safety of my wife and other drivers was put at risk when the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly went into limp mode on a busy highway where limp mode is well below the speed of traffic. Had the recall addressed the known faulty part instead of just telling the ECU to force limp mode when the known faulty part inevitably fails the safety of my wife and the public would not have been affected by this issue. I was driving at 45mph, and the steering wheel locked completed it was extremely dangerous and I almost crash. I am wondering if there any recall. Pissed costumer.
There have been several recalls on this vehicle. The day after purchase there was a class action settlement. I’m curious as to how the dealership was allowed to sell this vehicle knowing they had all the information in regards to the sell. The vehicle should have had a stop sell. Our family was at risk when the engine started to give out while on the road. The vehicle has been sitting at the shop for months with back and forth on an engine failure, etc. replacement. It’s all fine to purchase the vehicle, yet we are facing the consequences of the manufacturer/dealership negligence and left with no help and being dismissed due to claims of parts not available. We have a family of 6 and down to one vehicle but, not our part but, due to the fact we have one vehicle. I have sent an email 3 times due to this issue and no one bothers to touch base. The recalls had to have been known by the seller, yet did not disclose the potential risks. We went through major decisions to find a way to pay the vehicle off and I feel that because it is, they got their money and do not care. However, we do and it does not disregard the fact it was manufactured improperly and sold when it should not have been. Not only were other drivers at risk due to the faulty vehicle but, my family was.
Engine stalled while passing vehicle on the highway. Lost power no acceleration. Once the engine stalled and I could not accelerate multiple vehicles behind me almost wrecked almost causing a multiple car pile up. It was towed to dealership. Dealership ran its diagnosis and the issue was the tone wheel. They told me it was a recall 66A that has no fix yet. Multiple warning lamps came on once the engine stalled. Once parked tried starting the truck and it would not turn over. It told me to service engine throttle body control. There were no warnings before the engine stalled. I bought the truck a week ago and now I do not have a vehicle or an ETA on when my truck will be fixed. There is another recall out on this truck from almost a year ago with no fix either. I called FCA and all they told me is there was no fix. Now I have no vehicle and FCA wont give me a rental truck. So now I have no truck haul or tow with.
This is the second attempt reporting this issue with this vehicle and I have not received any response. This vehicle has recalls and was sold with recalls, in which I find this highly irresponsible from all angles. You can see for yourself the safety risks, it is very clear it is a safety hazard issue. Yes, the vehicle has been looked at and we have the proper paperwork and also, yes, warning lights have come on and they were checked and dismissed as “normal.” It is not normal, nor is it safe, nor is this acceptable. Not a single person, manufacturer, even cares to fix this problem that did not occur on our behalf, it is due to horrible manufacturing. How these vehicles are allowed to be sold blows my mind.
4 of the exhaust manifold bolts were broken, so exhaust manifold was leaking and making vehicle very loud. Both sides of engine had broken bolts. Safety of me and my passengers was not at risk, if you were to exclude our eardrums. I had an independant service center fix the issue. the failed component was not inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representatives. The shop that did the work inspected the failed components. The engine was making a loud ticking noise while running. Noise was emitting from both sides of the engine.
On May 26th, 2023 I was driving my Ram 1500 with 3.0 liter diesel down a multilane road with traffic. At about 30 mph, normal driving, the engine stalled without warning and power brakes and steering were lost. Traffic continued to pass as I had to cross lanes of traffic and coast to a stop out of the way of traffic. The vehicle could not be restarted or put into neutral to move. There were no abnormal driving issues, noises, warnings, or messages prior to the event. The truck was towed to a Ram dealership for inspection. The engine code clearly indicated that there was an issue with the crankshaft sensor. The dealership diagnosis was that the oil pump had failed and the engine was destroyed. After towing it to a second, independent shop, the actual diagnosis is that the reluctor wheel (tone wheel) and crankshaft sensor had failed, preventing fuel injection to the engine. This is a known issue on 2014-2016 Ram Ecodiesel trucks. My truck (manufactured in May 2014) was not a part of the recall. Once the transmission was removed to validate the tone wheel issue, it was confirmed when the mechanic found that the magnetic strip on the tone wheel had delaminated and broken off. The magnetic strip had multiple cracks. This part is in my possession and available for inspection. After replacing the tone wheel and crankshaft position sensor, the truck was back to running normally. The repair was completed by the shop at my expense because Ram refused to address the tone wheel issue or even look into it because it wasn't under recall. As of June 9th of 2023, Ram has said that they are possibly going to issue a recall for this (66A) but will not cover the expense because it was not repaired at a Ram dealership.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon driving from a complete stop, the vehicle would not exceed 3 MPH as the safety mode engaged. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact parked the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure persisted the next day; however, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The independent mechanic referred the contact to a Chrysler dealer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where the tone wheel crankshaft, transmission heater, exhaust temperature sensor was replaced, and the transmission fluid was flushed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to cover the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 86,047.

My vehicle VIN [XXX] shown "no unprepared recalls". However I saw that there was a past recall for this vehicle. The recall dealt with the digital instrument cluster which gives data on engine management, safety features such as ABS systems, and other safety items. I do not believe my vehicle had ever been repaired. My digital instrument system flashes on and off and many times, as all day today, was completely inoperable. This has been occurring for approx one year and the dealer told me that this was normal, which it is absolutely not. The dealerships around here have a habit of falsely signing off on repairs and recalls especially if the vehicle hit their lot with a recall during a trade-in. The new buyer would have no idea of such recall. Please assist me in getting this unprepared recall repaired. I would also like to address the faulty 8 speed transmissions which shudder and shift unnecessarily. This could cause a sudden loss power on acceleration in heavy high speed traffic and merging onto an interstate. Please look into this. Driving 75 on a regular highway and all of a sudden loud clunk and loss of ability to drive and almost caused truck to run into a ditch. Complete fracture of bracket on top of Axel Assembly causing CV Axel to completely come undone and damage to the front end.
Extreme vibration coming from the passenger right side. The half shaft for the 4 wheel drive is loose on the shaft from the differential. The only way to repair this is to take your differential apart, replace the inner shafts and replace the cv shaft / half shaft. Vehicle can not be driven from 65-80 miles an hour comfortably. This is such a common issue that some companies have come up with design solutions, however the repair is temporary at best as it will happen again since there is no way to prevent dirt from getting in between the shaft of the differential and the cv shaft
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while pulling out a parking space with the driver’s side door opened, the vehicle would not accelerate as needed. The contact was concerned that the transmission had seized without warning. The contact closed the door, turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as needed. On another occasion while reversing into his driveway, he opened the driver’s side door to prevent the vehicle from driving over the sidewalk and the transmission seized and would not go forward or reverse. The dealer was contacted and notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the issue might be related to a possible safety feature the vehicle was equipped with. The manufacturer was not contacted or notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The powertrain system wore out after only 68,000 miles on the vehicle. This could have caused the axles to lock up going down the road. The dealer is now replacing the powertrain at a cost of $4000 to us. The powertrain on this vehicle was recalled twice and repaired supposedly.

The contact's husband owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at 35 MPH, a loud thumping noise and vibration was coming from the front passenger’s side wheel well. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the front differential, Part Number: (68257421AG) to be replaced; however, the mechanic stated that the part was on national backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 207,000.

engine manifold bolt sheared off, started "ticking" noise when starts.....my research has shown many complaints about the defective bolts and h\where replaced with improved bolts on other models,,..I called my dealership and they stated that the item is not covered because warranty expired (5 years) even though I have less then 80K miles...
Cam Shaft Position Sensor failed on 08-Dec-2018. I paid for the repairs myself. Issue is subject of current recall. Unable to obtain reimbursement from FCA after multiple times providing requested documentation and request for reimbursement.
I have gotten 5 phone calls of people calling me and telling me they saw on the news that they saw on TV(the news channel) that there is a recall on my truck for faulty rear axles and a faulty rear drive shaft that has to be replaced. I"ve put in my vin number 6 times and get no answer of these parts to be replaced. I just bought a 2014 Dodge Ram, 1500, 4x4 truck from a dealer who screwed over me once before, but decided to try them again. I also caught the tail end of the recall on the news which said the same thing the others saw about my truck..So what is up?
My vehicle suddenly and dramatically accelerates when descending steep hills, without any depression of the accelerator pedal. When this happens, the engine RPM abruptly increases from around 1500 RPM to 3000 RPM or more, with a corresponding increase in vehicle speed. This typically happens in first and second gear. After I slam on the brake to reduce speed, the engine speed temporarily returns to normal (1000-1500 RPM) then the vehicle accelerates on its own again. This does not happen when descending gentle hills. This has been happening since the vehicle was brand new and is still occurring now, 6 years later. The dealer attempted to fix the problem when the car was new, but without success.

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 50 MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE WARNING LIGHT FLASHED SERVICE 4WD, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND MANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND ELECTRONIC SELECTOR. AFTER STOPPING, WITHOUT POWER BRAKES WORKING, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START. I ALLOWED TO TRUCK TO SIT, WITH FLASHERS ON, FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. AFTER THE 10 MINUTE WAIT, THE TRUCK STARTED AND SEEM TO DRIVE NORMALLY. I WENT DIRECTLY TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP (SHARP DODGE IN PULASKI, TN). THE TECHNICIAN WASN'T ABLE TO FIND A "CODE" RELATED TO THE SHUT DOWN. THEY ONLY FOUND INDICATIONS OF "VOLTAGE OVERLOAD" NOT FURTHER DEFINED. THIS OCCURRED ON APRIL 8, 2021 ON HWY 31A, APPROX 0600 HRS NEAR THE CITY OF PULASKI, TN 38478. NOTE:. THE ENGINE /LONG BLOCK WAS REPLACED BY THE SAME DEALER AT172000 AND UNDER MOPAR WARRANTY DUE TO INTERNAL ENGINE ISSUES INVOLVING #5 LIFTER AND DAMAGED CAM SHAFT.

ON 5/23/19 I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER WHERE I'D BOUGHT IT NEW TO FIX A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WAS ON.AFTER THE ISSUE WAS FOUND AND REPAIRED, I PICKED THE TRUCK UP AND WAS TOLD A TRANS UPDATE(RECALL # U07) WAS ALSO DONE. AS SOON AS I PULLED INTO LIGHT TRAFFIC,I NOTICED THE THROTTLE PEDAL WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND THE TRUCK WAS SLUGGISH AND SLOW TO ACCELERATE.IT ALSO SHIFTED UP AND DOWN A LOT MORE THEN IT NORMALLY DOES ALL THE WAY HOME.I THOUGHT MAYBE THE TRANS HAD TO RE LEARN IT'S SHIFT PATTERN AND WOULD GET BETTER AFTER I PUT SOME MILES ON IT JUST AS IT DID WHEN NEW. OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS IT DIDN'T GET ANY BETTER AND PULLING ONTO THE STATE HIGHWAY FROM A TOWN ROAD HAS LEAD TO SOME CLOSE CALLS AS IT'IS A LIMITED SIGHT STOP SIGN INTERSECTION. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS I FIGURED OUT SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND THE TRUCK WASN'T GOING TO GET BETTER ON IT'S OWN,I CALLED THE DEALER TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AND CHECK IT OUT.I ALSO ASKED IF I COULD HAVE THE EPA MANDATED AEM(RECALL #V08) FLASH PERFORMED AT THE SAME TIME AND WAS GIVEN AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER CALLED BACK AND INFORMED ME THE AEM UPDATE HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED ON THE 5/23/19 SERVICE VISIT AND THE CHANGE(LOSS) IN PERFORMANCE WAS MOST LIKELY THE RESULT. SINCE I WAS UNAWARE THE AEM UPDATE HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED,I KNEW THE LOSS IN PERFORMANCE WASN'T MY IMAGINATION. I ALSO NOTICED A LOSS OF ABOUT 15% FUEL MPG AND THE TRANS.SHIFTS UP AND DOWN A LOT MORE WHICH IS MORE OF AN AGGRAVATION THEN A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS INFORMS ME THAT FCA KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM BUT THE DEALERS WON'T COVER IT AS A DESIGN DEFECT. CLEARLY THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT WITH THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS AS THEY SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS AND MANUFACTURES ARE SUPPOSE TO ACCOUNT FOR THESE PARTS TO SEE EXTREME TEMP CHANGES. BROUGHT TO DEALER AND HOPED IT FELL UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. DID NOT QUALIFY SO I'M OUT ALMOST 1,000 FOR THE REPAIR. RESEARCHING, THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM. DEALER ATTRIBUTED IT TO BEING OVER TIGHTENED FILTER HOUSING. WELL RESEARCH SHOWS THIS HAPPENS DUE TO THE TEMPERATURE CYCLING OVER TIME. OIL LEAKING ONTO THE ENGINE MANIFOLD CREATES A FIRE HAZARD UNDER THE PROPER CONDITIONS. MANUFACTURER SHOULD PUT FORWARD A RECALL TO REPLACE THE HOUSINGS OR DESIGN ONE THAT IS METAL FOR AN ADEQUATE REPLACEMENT.

I HAVE HAD SEVERAL MALFUNCTION OF THE TRANSMISSION IN MY VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASED. THEY STARTED AROUND A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND HAVE AVERAGED APPROXIMATELY ONE MALFUNCTION PER YEAR. THE FIRST THREE MALFUNCTIONS WERE SIMILAR; A "HARD" DOWNSHIFT OR UPSHIFT WHILE I WAS HIGHWAY DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND ADJUST ACCORDING TO TRAFFIC FLOW. I HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND FELT THE JOLT OF THE TRANSMISSION CHANGING. LIKE WHEN THE VEHICLE SLOWED BUT THE TRANSMISSION DIDN'T REACT AND ALL THE SUDDEN A HARD SHIFT SAME ON THE UPSHIFT. THE LATEST MALFUNCTION WAS DIFFERENT. I WAS IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC WHEN TRAFFIC SLOWED DOWN. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC FLOW BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EXCEED THE 45 MPH. I COULD HEAR THE ENGINE REVVING UP BUT IT WAS LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN LOW GEAR. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY AND STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT DROVE AS NORMAL. I HAVE EXPLAINED THE MALFUNCTIONS TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THEY SAID THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND IT WAS NORMAL. AFTER THE LAST FAILED ATTEMPT TO GET THE PROBLEM RESOLVED AT THE DEALERSHIP, I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER FCA US CUSTOMER CENTER REPRESENTATIVE BY LETTER. THE ADVISED ME TO A GM AT THE DODGE CITY DEALER IN MCKINNEY, TX. THE DEALERSHIP ENDED UP "RESETTING THE TRANSMISSION". IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT IS SIMILAR TO RESETTING YOUR CELL PHONE WHERE ALL SETTINGS GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL SETTINGS. I WAS GIVEN NO OTHER OPTIONS AT THE TIME EXCEPT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND SEE IF THE RESETTING RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. IT IS MY OPINION THERE HAS BEEN NO REAL RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF THE MALFUNCTION OF THE TRANSMISSION. I STILL HAVE THE SAME FEAR THAT IF THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION UNDER THE RIGHT CONDITIONS IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO ME OR SOMEONE ELSE. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY THE DODGE DEALER RAN THREE CHECKS ON THE TRUCK AND TOLD US THE PROBLEM NEVER REGISTERS ON THEIR COMPUTER NOR COULD THEY GET THE PROBLEM TO REPLICATE. AFTER MANY COMPLAINTS THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SHIFTER CONTROLLER. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN WITHIN AN HOUR AFTER THE ATTEMPTED REPAIR. WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHERE WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE SO WE SO NOT PUT OURSELVES IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE COULD NOT BE ASSURE THE VEHICLE WOULD FO INTO GEAR WHEN DOING A THREE POINT TURN. WE HAVE A VIDEO OF THIS PROBLEM BUT I COULD NOT GET IT TO COPY.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAY ON. WHEN TRYING TO GET THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT TO GO OUT BY PRESSING THE TRACTION CONTROL BUTTON, NOTHING HAPPENS. THIS IS TELLING ME THAT I DO NOT HAVE ANY TRACTION CONTROL. THIS WILL BECOME A MAJOR ISSUE WHEN IT SNOWS. AT TIMES, I CAN COUNT TO 5 SECONDS BEFORE THE TRUCK BEGINS TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DOWNRIGHT UNSAFE. FCA IS STAYING THAT THE LAG IS AS THE SOFTWARE INTENDED IT TO BE. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED IT WAS NOT AT ALL LIKE THIS, AFTER BEING FORCED BY THE EPA & THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO GET THIS UPDATE MY TRUCK IS NOW NEARLY INOPERABLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. I OWN A 2014 RAM 1500 WITH A 3.0L ECO DIESEL. THERE WAS A FEDERAL CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WAS HANDED DOWN AND THE OUTCOME WAS AN APPROVED ENGINE MODIFICATION (AEM). THE AEM WAS A REFLASH OF THE ECM AND TCM. AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THE PERFORMANCE OF MY TRUCK DANGEROUSLY IMPACTED. IF I DRIVE MY TRUCK BEFORE THE ENGINE REACHES OPERATING TEMPERATURES OVER 150DEGREES, THERE IS SIGNIFICANT ACCELERATION DELAYS. IT USUALLY TAKES ME 5-10MINUTES OF DRIVING OR MORE THAN 20MINUTES OF IDLING (WARMING UP) TO GET THE ENGINE UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURES. I CAN PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR PETAL AND WAIT 3-5 SECONDS BEFORE THE TRUCK REACTS, THEN I GET PUSHED BACK INTO MY SEAT AND SOMETIMES SPIN THE DRIVE TIRES. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM TURNING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, OR TRYING TO OVERTAKE ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. ALSO, PRIOR TO THE ENGINE REACHING OPERATING TEMPERATURES, I NOW EXPERIENCE 'TURBO FLUTTER' THIS IS WHERE TOO MUCH AIR IS FORCED INTO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND THE AIR IS PUSHED BACK THROUGH THE TURBO. THE TRUCK ACTS AS IF THE BREAKS ARE PULSING. SIMILAR TO THE ABOVE, IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM ACCELERATING, NOT WITH THE ACCELERATOR PUSHED TO THE FLOOR, JUST NORMAL, CONSERVATIVE DRIVING. A FEW OTHER CHANGES I HAVE FOUND AFTER THE AEM, I HAVE LOST SIGNIFICANT FUEL ECONOMY, GREATER THAN 10%, AND DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) CONSUMPTION IS SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER. FCA ADVISED THAT THE UPDATED SOFTWARE IS NOT EXPECTED TO CHANGE ANY OF THE VEHICLES ATTRIBUTES TO INCLUDE VEHICLE PERFORMANCE, DRIVEABILITY, AND FUEL ECONOMY. AFTER HAVING THE RECALL WORK DONE, I HAVE NOTICED A SERIOUS CONCERN REGARDING THE ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE FROM A STOP (ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD OR NOT FULLY WARMED UP). WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THERE IS A DELAY IN THE ACCELERATION WHICH I CAN BEST DESCRIBE AS FEELING LIKE "SEVERE TURBO LAG." AFTER PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR HARDER AND GETTING THROUGH THE LAG IN ACCELERATION, THE TURBO FINALLY KICKS IN AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES QUICKLY BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO BASICALLY "FLOOR IT." I ALSO NOTICED WHEN DRIVING UP AN INCLINE AND STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, WHILE CONTINUING GRADUALLY UP THE INCLINE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND TO LIGHT/GRADUAL PRESSING OF THE ACCELERATOR. PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR HARDER CAUSES THE TURBO TO KICK IN AND THE VEHICLE TO DOWNSHIFT WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY . ON 06/26/2019, THE DEALERSHIP TESTED IT AND TEST DROVE IT FOR 12 MILES AND NOTING THAT THEY "DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANYTHING ABNORMAL WHEN COMPARED TO LIKE VEHICLES" AND "VEHICLE PERFORMING AS DESIGNED." MY WIFE AND I CONTINUED TO NOTICE THE SAME ISSUES AND I CONTACTED FCA AGAIN. THEY SAID THEY WOULD DOCUMENT IT AND SAID THAT I COULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN. I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO WASTE MY TIME AND REITERATED THAT THIS ISSUE WAS CLEARLY A RESULT OF THE UPDATE. FCA CLOSED MY COMPLAINT.
RAM PERFORMED RECALL UPDATE V08 TO THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE TO BECOME COMPLAINT WITH FEDERAL EMISSIONS. AFTER THE UPDATE THERE IS A 3 SECOND DELAY IN THROTTLE RESPONSE. THIS GENERALLY OCCURS WHILE THE TRUCK IS STOPPED AND IS TAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS ALMOST RESULTED IN A COUPLE ACCIDENTS. I WAS TRANSFERRED TO VOICE MAILS OF PEOPLE WHO HAD ALREADY LEFT FOR THE DAY. FINALLY, WHEN I ARRIVED FOR MY VEHICLE AND SPOKE WITH ALBERTO, HE SAID THEY CLOSE AT 4 AND HE'S THE PERSON I SPOKE TO AROUND 1:30 WHO SAID MY VEHICLE WOULD BE READY AROUND 3:00. NO ONE MADE ANY ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT ME ABOUT MY TRUCK SINCE 8:30, SATURDAY MORNING WHICH IS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH MINOR INJURIES AS NO ONE ELSE WAS INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS IN THE PAST WITH THE ELECTRONIC GEAR SHIFT, SPECIFICALLY WHEN MOVING IT FROM DRIVE TO PARK. SOMETIMES IT SEEMS TO GET STUCK IN REVERSE EVEN THOUGH THE INDICATOR LIGHT IS SHOWING PARK.

UPON RE-ENTERING THE VEHICLE., THE DRIVER NOTED THAT THE KNOB GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN "REVERSE". THE DRIVER IMMEDIATELY CALLED INSURANCE PROVIDER TO FILE CLAIM, AS WELL AS FCA, THE VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURER. FCA SENT AN INVESTIGATOR WHILE THE TRUCK WAS AT THE BODY SHOP TO ASSESS VEHICLE. OWNER ALSO BROUGHT VEHICLE TO RAM DEALERSHIP SUBSEQUENT TO BODY REPAIRS FOR INSPECTION. RAM SAID BECAUSE INCIDENT COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED, ISSUE DID NOT EXIST. THE MORE DANGEROUS TIMING OF IT IS WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE I'M DRIVING.THIS EITHER CAUSES ME TO DOWNSHIFT INTO A LOWER GEAR WHICH THROWS ME FORWARD AND REVS THE ENGINE IN EXCESS OF 3000RPM, OR WHILE I AM STOPPED, THE RPMS CLIMB WITHOUT ANY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. IF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE WHILE THIS HAPPENS, I ACCELERATE FORWARD EITHER UP TO 18MPH OR 30MPH DEPENDING WHICH GEAR IT IS 'STUCK' IN. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO ONE LOCAL RAM DEALER 6 TIMES REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE. THE DID FLASH UPDATES, REPLACED ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR, BRAKE SENSOR, REPAIRED CONNECTOR FOR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR, AND REPLACED THROTTLE BODY (ALL OF WHICH AT THE TIME, THEY SAID EACH INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT WAS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM). I HAVE TAKEN IT TO ANOTHER LOCAL RAM DEALER, AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT WITH 4 AND A HALF HOURS OF DIAGNOSTIC TIME. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND REPLACED A CABLE/CONNECTOR AND LOW AND BEHOLD, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR SO, SO MANY REASONS. I NOTE THAT NOT ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAVE COME ON, BUT THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, SERVICE 4WD LIGHT, ! TEMP LIGHT, CHECK BRAKE LIGHT, AND OF COURSE THE SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT.

THE FIRST TIME THE TRUCK DIDN'T STAY IN PARK WAS PROBABLY ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO, I PLACED TRUCK IN PARK AND BEGAN TO GET OUT WHEN THE TRUCK WAS STILL ROLLING FORWARD. I HAD TO PUSH ON BRAKES AND REMOVE FROM PARK AND PUT BACK INTO PARK FOR IT TO WORK. INTERMITTENT PARK POSITION IS A VERY BAD THING TO BE INTERMITTENT.

I FELT FORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT PINNED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE GARAGE WALL BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK IN THE VEHICLE. THE KNOB SHIFT CONTROL IS NOT VERY INTUITIVE AND I BELIEVE CAN LEAD MORE FREQUENTLY TO DRIVER ERROR. IT WAS ALSO SURPRISING TO ME HOW MUCH ACCELERATION AND FORCE OCCURRED WITHOUT APPLYING ANY PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL.

THE PROBLEM IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE THAT THE NEITHER SERVICING DEALER NOR CORPORATE CAN REPAIR. IT HAS BEEN IN THEIR REPAIR SHOP 4 TIMES. MY LAST VISIT I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT MADE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO AND TO 'DRIVE IT TILL IT BECAME WORSE OR MORE CONSISTENT.' THEIR MECHANIC AND SERVICE PERSONNEL HAVE HEARD THE NOISE AS WELL BUT CANNOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. THE NOISE IS A HIGH PITCH SQUEAL AT A DOWN SHIFT FROM THE 2ND GEAR TO 1ST GEAR. MY CONCERN IS THAT I HAVE ASKED THE SERVICING DEALER AND THE CASE MANAGER WITH CHRYSLER CORPORATE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. WE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIPS ATTENTION ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SAME THING EVERY TIME WHICH IS "YES WE ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM IS THEIR HOWEVER THERE IS STILL NO FIX ".THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER 6 MONTHS. WHEN YOU BRING THE VEHICLE. TO A COMPLETE STOP, IT JUMPS OR SHIFTS AS IF IT'S TRYING TO JUMP INTO ANOTHER GEAR. WHEN YOU TRY TO DRIVE OFF IN THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE GIVES A HESITATION LIKE IT'S TRYING TO GO INTO A HIGHER GEAR BEFORE YOU EVEN PULL OFF. ON TOP OF THIS THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAVE 3 RECALLS ON IT. WE SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING THIS WITH A BRAND NEW TRUCK. WE'VE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT WE'RE NOT GETTING ANY RESULTS. THEY JUST KEEP SAYING WE'RE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THERE IS STILLL NOT A FIX. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME RESULTS! WE'VE BEEN GETTING THE SAME RESULTS FOR THE PAST 6 OR 7 MONTHS AND HAVE DECIDED TO CONTACT NHTSA, HOPING TO GET SOME RESULTS.

NON OF WHICH HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THEM REPAIRED WHICH TOOK ALMOST A MONTH. I DROPPED THE TRUCK OFF TUESDAY THE 20TH OF OCTOBER AND IT IS STILL THERE. THEY SAY THE RECALLS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BUT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE IS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 6,000 MILES.

I HAVE SINCE NOTICED THAT THE GEAR SELECTOR UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS WILL SHOW IT IS IN "D" "R" OR "P" WHEN IN FACT IT BLINKS AND THAT GEAR IS NOT SELECTED.

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON A SMOOTH STRAIGHT ROAD, THE EMERGENCY INFORMATION SCREEN IN MY GAUGE CLUSTER STARTED FLASHING AND STATED "SERVICE POWER STEERING" "SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM" "SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROLLER" "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" IT ALSO STATED TO NOT SHIFT TO PARK AS SHIFTING MAY BECOME INOPERABLE ONCE STOPPED. MY POWER STEERING WAS GONE, MY GAS PEDAL WAS INOPERABLE AND BRAKING WAS VERY WEAK. I HAD TO MUSCLE THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SLOWLY COME TO A STOP AND SHIFTED INTO PARK. I TURNED THE KEY FOB TO OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO TURN OVER. NOW, MY KEY FOB WAS ALSO STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT TURN TO THE OFF POSITION TO REMOVE THE KEY. I CALLED CHRYSLER ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND SAT ON HOLD FOR 55 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRST PERSON ANSWERED THE PHONE. AFTER 10-15 MIN WE HAD A TOW TRUCK SET UP BUT THAT WOULDN'T BE THERE FOR ANOTHER 75 MINUTES. SO FROM THE TIME I CALLED TO WHEN THE TOW TRUCK ACTUALLY ARRIVED IT WAS ALMOST 2.5 HOURS! GOOD THING IT WASN'T THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION MODULE. THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. THEN THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BCM. THAT DIDN'T WORK AS THEY NOW "ONLY HAVE COMMUNICATION WITH HALF OF THE VEHICLE". I'M STILL NOT SURE WHAT THAT MEANS BUT THAT'S WHERE WE ARE AT DAY 7. I DO NOT WANT THIS VEHICLE BACK. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT IF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS NO IDEA HOW TO PROPERLY FIX IT OR EVEN KNOW IF THEY HAVE PROPERLY FIXED IT WITH THEIR GUESS AND CHECK METHODS. IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS OR PULLING A TRAILER WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTEROUS! OR EVEN WORSE IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING IN 4WD AND LOST POWER STEERING THERE IS NO WAY SHE COULD HAVE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER SAFELY. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN THAT I WANT NO PART OF. SHE PLACED THE TRUCK IN PARK, GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN AND WALKED TO THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK. WHILE GIVING THE HOSTESS A HUG, HOSTESS EXCLAIMED YOUR TRUCK IS ROLLING AWAY. MY WIFE TRIED TO RUN BACK AND AROUND THE DOOR TO GET IN THE VEHICLE. BEFORE SHE COULD, THE OPEN DOOR TOOK DOWN TWO MAILBOXES AND 4X4 TIMBER POSTS THEY WERE MOUNTED ON AND OPENED THE DOOR BEYOND THE SPRING LIMIT PUSHING INTO THE FRONT FENDER AND POPPING OUT THE FRONT HEAD LIGHT. THE TRUCK ROLLED ACROSS THE STREET INTO THE NEIGHBORS YARD HITTING A POWER POLL WHERE IT CAME TO STOP. THE IMPACT TO THE POLL WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO PULL DOWN POWER LINES. UPON REACHING THE VEHICLE A MALE GUEST NOTED THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN PARK. MY 9 YEAR OLD WAS STILL STRAPPED INTO HIS SEAT BELT AND SIGNIFICANTLY SHAKEN UP THOUGH NOT INJURED. THE POLICE AND UTILITY COMPANY ARRIVED. THE OFFICER WROTE HIS REPORT UP AS VEHICLE MALFUNCTION. THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR SAID THE VEHICLE COULD BE DRIVEN IN ITS CONDITION. HE PULLED BACK THE DOOR TO AS CLOSE TO CLOSED AS POSSIBLE AND TIED CLOSED. THE REAR BUMPER AND TAILGATE ARE TRASHED. INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAS GIVEN PRELIMINARY ESTIMATE OF $8,900. THE POWER COMPANY HAS NOT CONTACTED US YET ABOUT THEIR SERVICE CALL. I GUESS VERY FORTUNATE THAT MY WIFE DID NOT MAKE IT AROUND THE DOOR AS SHE COULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND TWO MAILBOXES. I STOPPED THE TRUCK COMPLETELY, BY PUSHING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL HARDER, ABOUT 5 FEET FROM THE HOUSE. I REACHED DOWN TO ROTATE THE SHIFT DIAL TO PARK, "P". AFTER TURNING TO "P" THE TRUCK ENGINE STARTED REVVING AND THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD, AFTER INITIALLY BEING STARTLED I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW THE SHIFT DIAL WAS AT "P" AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING. THE TRUCK THEN STRUCK THE CORNER OF THE HOUSE WHILE I WAS ALMOST STANDING UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TRYING TO GET IT TO STOP. I TURNED THE SHIFT DIAL TO REVERSE AND BACK TO PARK AND THE TRUCK STOPPED REVVING AND MOVING. THEN I BACKED AWAY FROM THE HOUSE. BEING A RETIRED POLICE DETECTIVE THE FIRST THING I DID WAS TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE FACTORY FLOOR MAT HAD DISLODGED AND JAMMED INTO THE PEDALS BUT IT WAS PROPERLY HOOKED IN PLACE. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCKS BODY DAMAGE REPAIRED I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. I DID NOTICE THAT WHEN I PICKED THE TRUCK UP FROM THE DEALER THERE WAS A CLICKING SOUND UNDER THE DASH WHEN I ROTATED THE SHIFT DIAL FROM "R" TO "P" THAT I DO NOT RECALL HEARING BEFORE. NO CLICKING IS HEARD WHEN CHANGING BETWEEN ANY OTHER GEARS.

THE ALTERNATOR'S FUNCTION IS TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY ONCE IT'S BEEN USED TO START THE ENGINE. AND TO KEEP THE BATTERY CHARGED WHEN VARIOUS ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE USED IN THE VEHICLE. THE ALTERNATOR DETERMINES HOW MUCH TO CHARGE THE BATTERY BY MEASURING THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE FROM THE BATTERY. IF THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY WHERE THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE IS VERY LOW, THE ALTERNATOR WILL TRY TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. THE ALTERNATOR ISN'T DESIGNED TO RECHARGE A DEAD BATTERY. IT'S INTENDED TO MAINTAIN THE CHARGE ON A GOOD BATTERY. WHEN THIS DOES HAPPEN, THE ALTERNATOR BEGINS TO RUN HOT, AND THIS IS WHAT KILLS THE ALTERNATOR.
