EPS Malfunctioning in an instant on the road. Never had this issue before, as I am driving on a curve, EPS or in this case a Red Flashing Steering wheel came on and my steering wheel locked almost causing an accident to myself, my safety was in a risk in an instant.
My 2014 Ram 1500 ABS light, traction control, and brake light popped up and if I drive it for a short bit and stop and shut it off and crank it up the light don’t come back on. It has been doing this all the time through the winter and now says on all the time. All so the back up camera doesn’t power up when you first start vehicle for about two minutes on the radio display. The camera not coming on creates a big safety issue when backing up. We have small grandchildren and this makes it a big safety concern.
Background: Vehicle purchased in Madison, WI at Schoepp Motors (July 2019). Has been continuously titled, registered, and insured in Wisconsin for over 6 years. Vehicle is fully legal in the U.S. and has a valid Wisconsin title. Issue: The fuel tank strap rusted and failed. This is a well-documented problem for Ram trucks, and Stellantis created an Extended Warranty (Code X75) to address the issue. Stellantis’ database still lists this VIN as a “Canadian market” vehicle. Because of this coding error, U.S. dealerships cannot process coverage under the Fuel Tank Strap Extended Warranty (X75, 12 years / unlimited miles). The X75 program exists specifically due to a safety concern (fuel tank strap corrosion). Despite multiple attempts to resolve this with Stellantis, I have only been directed to “contact a broker,” which does not address the underlying database problem. Timeline: 2019: Vehicle purchased in Madison, WI. 2019–2025: Vehicle continuously titled, registered, and insured in Wisconsin. August 26, 2025: Dealer confirms VIN is coded as Canadian and cannot process warranty coverage. August 27, 2025: Case opened with Stellantis US Customer Care (#[XXX]). Multiple calls and emails → Stellantis repeatedly instructs me to contact a broker, without identifying required documentation. I offered to provide Wisconsin title, registration, and insurance history. Broker consulted → confirmed import documents are not retained after 5 years (per CBP retention rules). Stellantis refuses to escalate meaningfully; no path forward provided. Concern: The X75 program is a safety-related warranty that Stellantis is refusing to honor for a U.S. resident with long-term U.S. ownership. All reasonable avenues with Stellantis Customer Care have been exhausted. I am requesting regulatory review and intervention to compel Stellantis to correct the VIN market assignment and honor the X75 safety program. Driving under normal conditions, truck had been running perfectly for the 3 months I owned it. Coming down a hill on the freeway, lights started blinking on the dash, then making a knocking noise, lost pressure (all control) of gas pedal, then white smoke from drivers side, then grey smoke, then completely engulfed in flames within 5 minutes of dash blinking. The fuel pump in the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Longhorn Lemaire overheats while driving with less than a quarter tank of petrol. Stalling during acceleration, prolonged cranking durations prior to ignition, and abrupt power loss at highway velocities causes significant warning signs. Engine surges at times and cause irregular idling. Whining and buzzing sounds emanating from the fuel tank region. Decreased fuel efficiency without justification. The check engine light is illuminated with fuel pressure-related codes (P0087, P0190). Research indicates that 4th generation Rams (2009-2018) frequently experience failures owing to inadequate factory pumps and issues with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) relay. The fifth-generation vehicles (2019 and beyond) exhibit a reduction in failures; nonetheless, they remain susceptible to contamination from degraded plastic tanks when ethanol-blended gasoline is utilized over extended periods, and pressure below requirements indicates pump failure.
Anti-Lock Brake Module Internal Failure, error code C2200--49. This ABS failure also takes out the following safety features, anti-lock braking, traction control, trailer towing brake controller, and cruise control. As a result I do not have these safety features, and I tow a 10,000 lb rated trailer that required that the OEM factory brake controller works. A new module is $1200 plus, however there are NONE to be found. It has been on National Back Order for several years, and affects many year models. Failure at first was intermittent and worked during cold weather, but once up to 70 degrees or above it failed consistently, then finally failed permanently. l Intermittent Failure was real risk when towing, as you could not depend on system working in case of emergency.
The fuel strap rutsted through the frame its a recall on previous years and mine it’s the year after the recall. Yes available upon inspection request my gas tank fell in the middle of me driving down the road at 40 and was putting groves in my drive shaft. I’ve read online a lot of people are having this issue. No warning lights just a terrible sound of the broken strap cutting into my drive shaft.
ABS module is faulty. I was told at the local Pep Boys after running a diagnostic test that the ABS module has an error. There is a recall on the electronic systems with the ABS I am aware of and would like to have that fixed on a recall.
I have been the only owner of this truck since it was new from the factory. Some time in the first part of 2022 the ABS module light on the dash was coming on and then going off. When I needed an oil change I took the truck to the dealer I always go to and informed the service writer about it. They said they couldn't check it out for the module until it completely goes out. So, on 5/22/23 I took the truck to the dealer cause the ABS module went out along with my trailer brake control and traction control. The service writer called the parts depart. to see if the module was in house and parts said they would have to order it. Service writer said I could drive the truck and I told them that the brakes are not the same as when the module was working. I told them that you have to push harder on the pedal and that the brakes are not stopping as quickly. He said it would be alright. Every time I take the truck in for an oil change I ask them about the module and call them quite often and the service writer's tell me the same about the module. Parts can not get a module from the manufacturer and don't know when they will get one but, the part is on order. The service writer did give me a phone number to the manufacturer linking me to a help department to see if they can inquire or know why the company is not making them. On 1/23/25 I did call the manufacturer and talk to one of the personal there. The person did not have any information on the module and they said they couldn't tell me why there are no ABS MODULES and that I should keep calling the parts department at my local dealer. So, I guess I don't know when the brakes will completely go out while I am driving it or my family is in it with me that may cause a wreck. I can't pull my camper and haven't for two years now. I don't know what will happen on a rain slick road or an ice and snow covered road. I can't sell the truck or trade it in to get a proper vehicle. Please help Thank You
The tailgate opens when not wanting to. I checked for recalls for this model year (2014) was not included although prior years recalled this item
Does not start reliably. When driving vehicle sputters and even stalls or complete shut offs while driving. Will loose ability to accelerate and lack power. Taken to 4 different mechanics / 2 of which Dodge Dealerships and no one can find whats wrong. Engine light on.
Visible exhaust smoke is pouring out of the vents during regen (even when the climate is turned off). This only happens while not in motion and only during regen. It becomes noticeably more difficult to breathe and the cab fills with exhaust smell. I posted my issue in a Facebook group for the powertrain that I’m in and many others say they have the same issue and have brought their trucks to the dealer. They’ve either had their trucks “fixed” and the issue still persists or the dealers advised them that there is no repair available. I noticed there is an almost identical recall for the 2WD models of my truck but it does not include 4WD models.
My truck is a 2014 Ram 1500 Vin: [XXX] *NOTE: [This recall is for older models of Ram 1500] U04 / NHTSA 18V-160 Frame Bracket This recall should be related to Ram 1500 Gas Tank fuel tank straps on ,and corrosion to frame on 2009-2018 Dodge Ram.* The frame is rusted out that holds the bracket. Fuel tank is hanging off almost hitting the ground. VERY DANGEROUS... There is NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL. Thousands of people are online complaining of this same problem. So, much where the (BRACKETS) are sold out, and on back order. The frame now has to be welded with a support plate to attach to new brackets. The ABS module has failed. The Dealer gave the part number 68196033AA as being defective and there was a two year backlog on this part.
Internal Abs control module failure. Have been waiting 2 years my warranty is about to expire.
Unknown, the air bags in the suspension popped during driving
The ABS/traction control module is constantly throwing warnings. Took vehicle to dealership. ABS module is bad and needs replacing. Dealership states parts are under engineer review and cannot get any replacement parts or know when they will be available. This is not safe to be driving a large vehicle without ABS/traction control safely working
Crankshaft Tone Reluctor Wheel failed while driving. Caused crank/no run situation. Towed to dealer, was told there was a recall(66A / 23V-411) to flash software to remedy situation. Software did not correct the issue and was told parts needed to be replaced and recall did not cover parts or labor. Parts were replaced ($1635 parts and labor). Truck is back on the road. Will be submitting a claim for reimbursement. Why a known issue is not covered entirely, puzzles me.
Issues constantly with hvac control module and climate system...every other time I start my ram, I either have AC in the heating mode or vice versa, or the computer is NOT communicating with the hvac module and blend doors for when I request heat, ac or defrost dashboard control etc.( I have replaced many blend doors oem, and hvac modules and had Chrysler recalibrate the blend doors and hvac/climate control system with NO success! Please help!
The T shaped frame mount where the fuel tank strap hooks to rusted out and the strap pulled through the frame letting the fuel tank drop.
While idle at a stop light, the emergency brake warning is triggered and immediately after the truck turns off and the shifter locks while on drive. Another code pops up prompting to shift to park but the shifter is locked on drive.

There’s a lot of complains a lot of people that says dodge rams have problems with the ignition switch all over the internet there’s people taking there ignitions out and open them and cleaning them with alcohol so they can work again and turn the truck on. This just happened to me it was working perfectly then it started turning on just occasionally and now it won’t work at all. This is a big problem because is on every dodge ram 2014 and older sometimes even on 2017 and 18 with all this people complaining about the same issue is obvious this is the companies responsibility and we shouldn’t be paying hundreds of dollars when it can be fixed for free if it was on the safety recall website.
My electric steering on my truck keeps jerking me into on coming traffic when I make a hard left or right turn.I have been working at a dealership for about 3.5 years now and have a two year degree in automotive service technology I can tell you that it is my rack and pinion. Intermittent only when turning. Please resolve this issue before some one wrecks and die.
The ac/heating system is stuck on the cabin air setting. I have no defrost ability. When the defrost button is activated the air continues to flow into the cabin and not towards the windshield. I live in Colorado with harsh winters. Not being able to defrost my windshield during the winter time is a huge safety issue if my window fogs up while driving and I cannot clear it. Also if there is condensation that freezes on the outside of my windshield I have no ability to melt it while driving. Huge safety issue. My local mechanic said this is a blendoor/actuator problem and will require a service of approximately 1,000$. There was and is currently no warning signal about the problem.
INTERSECTION,I PROCEEDED TO TURN LEFT, THE WHEEL TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND LOCKED i STRUIGGLED TO CONTROLD THE VEHICLE, DESPERATELY TRYING NOT TO HIT A MAN CROSSING THE STREET IN A WHEELCHAIR. i LOST CONTROL, JUMPED A CURVE AND HIT A LIGHT POLE. MY FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. FOUR OF MY TEETH WERE KNOCKED LOOSE. IHAD TO HAVE THEM PULL DUE TO AN INFECTION. MY HEAD AND NECK WAS JERKED AROUND TWICE. I WAS IN SHOCK & TERRIFIED I DROVE HOME CALLED MY SON, HE IMMEDIATELY CAME TO DRIVE THE TRUCK TO MY HOME, I MANAGED. MY DENTIST PULLED THREE TEETH AND THEN ONE MORE BECAUSE THEY BECAME INFECTED. THIS STEERING PROBLEM WAS NOT NORMAL., NO FLUID LOSS, N0 WARNING. MY TRUCK HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP 4-6 WEEKS PRIOR A COMPLETE DIAGNOSIS WAS CONDUCTED. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE, HAD I TURN TO THE RIGHT I WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY. INSTEAD OF GOING HOME THAT NIGHT i WAS GOING TO SEE MY 6 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER. MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOLD ME TO PLACE IN THE SHIOP. AFTER THE REPAIRS THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE $5,000 REPAIR BECAUSE THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS A WEAR AND TEAR. THIS IS FALSE. I CALLED FCA they informed me that my warranty was out. I telephoned them several times to inform them this was not a warranty issue. The same issue for the recall, reoccurred. it wasn't unit I informed them of my injury, then they informed me they would send someone to investigate. They sent their Engineering Analysis associates/Bosch Automotive Services Solutions to exam the repaired vehicle. It was at that point they read the report from Lithia Dodge Ram, the dealer my deceased husband purchased this death trap and examined it, but they could not find no evidence of a manufacturing issue, no evidence of power steering, electrical nor the throttle. Well, this is a problem because my invoice I was given and I was advised the report code stated it was electrical steering rack, a manufacturer problem THOUSANDS COMPLAINED. #ACCOUNTABILITY!
^ months ago my truck would not start and the doors would not unlock using the keyfob. Had it towed to the dealer and they said it was the module for the key system not communicating. after 2 months they finally installed a new module. Took the truck home and it stalled on me 3 time at 70mph and the interstate. Took back to the dealer and they contacted Ram engineers and they told them it was a broken wire . Finally got the truck but would not start the next day. I have researched and found that the TIPMs were going to be recalled but it was denied. Yesterday 9/16/22 I was told the truck was ready and when I went to pick it up it wouldnt start. Is there going to be a recall on the TIPMs?
My ABS Module light came on, along with my traction control and emergency brake light and my cruise stopped working. I took it to the dealer and they said it was an ABS Module, but it would be six months before I could get one. There are no ABS Modules available, evey dealer I have called has some but they can't sell them. My question is, why are there none available. The dealers say they are a known problem and with losing traction control it seems to be a safety problem, yet there is no recall on them. My truck is drivable, but not safely without traction control. Can someone look into this?

The front fuel tank strap frame “T -Slot” bracket may corrode permitting the front fuel tank strap to detach. With the front fuel tank strap detached, the fuel tank is primarily secured by the rear strap, however, the front of the fuel tank may be allowed to lower several inches.Description of the Safety Risk : Based upon FCA US’ investigation of this issue, and review of the available information, data, and analysis, and considering approximately nine years of field experience, as well as the audible notice provided to the operator to detect when this condition is present, FCA US has determined that the detachment of the front fuel tank strap in the subject vehicles could potentially allow the front of the fuel tank to make contact with the ground, increasing the risk of a fuel leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? my suspension and also my engine are the first problems that i have noticed while driving this vehicle. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When I drive I am scared to go even the speed limit of 30mph because my suspension makes my car bump aggressively and also there is a loud ticking noise I notice under the hood I have looked up reviews of this vehicle and seen that others have similar complaints for the dodge ram 2014 1500. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?] I took it into palmens dodge dealership and they didn't want to diagnose the vehicle unless the took the engine apart though they said it was better off replacing just by hearing the noise. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not as far as I'm aware Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? the problem started towards the beginning of the new year
When the truck is started the service shifter light comes on and will not let you shift the truck out of park. Then when driving down the road the light will come on and the truck will automatically shift in park and you can’t do anything but coast of the road to stop. It’s extremely hard to turn the steering to get off the road. This was fixed once at a dodge dealership and they said it was fixed and clearly it is not. This has happened to many trucks. I feel this need attention and fixed for the safety of others.

I have broken bolts on my passenger side exhaust manifold. (I find to be a common problem on these trucks) I am worried of Carbon Monoxide getting into the cab of my truck on extended idle time. I can show this problem anytime. Also I can show the same problem on other trucks. There are no warning lights on other than being able to hear the exhaust leak. I have not had this truck at the dealer to look at.
The dealership says it is a clock spring in the steering wheel that causes my left blinker to stay on. And also shows a warning light to stay on. I am also wondering if a dealership can show all recalls are up to date without the repairs being done. Thanks in advance.
I have gotten 5 phone calls of people calling me and telling me they saw on the news that they saw on TV(the news channel) that there is a recall on my truck for faulty rear axles and a faulty rear drive shaft that has to be replaced. I"ve put in my vin number 6 times and get no answer of these parts to be replaced. I just bought a 2014 Dodge Ram, 1500, 4x4 truck from a dealer who screwed over me once before, but decided to try them again. I also caught the tail end of the recall on the news which said the same thing the others saw about my truck..So what is up?
SATURDAY EVENING WE WERE EXISTING THE INTERSTATE WHEN I STARTED TO SMELL WHAT SEEMED LIKE A CHEMICAL SMELL. WE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHERE THIS SMELL WAS COMING FROM. AS WE PROCEEDED DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I STARTED TO GET WARM SO I TURNED OFF THE HEATED SEAT. WHEN WE ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINATION, I COULD STILL SMELL THE SOMETHING OUT OF THE NORMAL. I BEGIN TO LOOK ALL AROUND. SMELLING MY JACKET TO MAKE SURE THE KIDS DIDN'T SPILL SOMETHING ON IT, OR JUST TRY TO FIND WHERE THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM. FINALLY, I TURN AROUND AND REALIZE MY HEATED SEAT HAD CAUGHT FIRE. THANK GOD I HAD TURNED THE SEAT WARMER OFF MOMENTS EARLIER. LUCKY FOR ME, THE TRUCK DID NOT GO UP IN FLAMES. THE SEAT HAS A DEEP BURN HOLE AND MY JACKET (WHICH WAS BETWEEN THE SEAT AND MYSELF) HAS 2 BURNS IN IT. I WAS UNHARMED BUT IF IT WASN'T FOR ME TURNING THE SEAT OFF, I'M AFRAID OF WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED. OUR TRUCK IS STILL UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED. I GOT INTO MY TRUCK TO LEAVE FROM WORK. WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE, THE "BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW" WARNING INSTANTLY CAME ON. JUST A FEW SECONDS LATER, THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" WARNING CAME ON AS WELL. AT THIS TIME THE RADIO SHUT OFF. MY TRUCK THEN SAID: "BATTERY SAVER MODE" WAS ON, AND THE RADIO CAME BACK ON. THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY OFF/NOT WORKING, SO I WAS VERY GRATEFUL THAT I WAS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT AND NOT DRIVING WHILE THIS HAPPENED AS IT COULD'VE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT! I LIMPED ALONG SLOWLY WITH MY FLASHERS ON, TO AN AUTOZONE TO HAVE THEM CHECK MY BATTERY. THEY WERE VERY BUSY, SO EVEN THOUGH MY BATTERY WAS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD, I SIMPLY BOUGHT A BRAND NEW ONE TO SEE IF IT FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH BOTH THE BATTERY (WHICH SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM AT ALL) BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THANKFULLY, I HAD A NEARLY STRAIGHT SHOT TO GET HOME, BUT IT WAS VERY HARD TO STEER THE TRUCK, AND I'M A BIG GUY, SO FOR THE AVERAGE PERSON, THEY WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. I HAVE STARTED IT UP EVERY DAY SINCE THEN WHICH WAS 5 DAYS AGO, AND I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN ON A VEHICLE...NEVER. AND I HAD ZERO PROBLEMS WITH IT, SO WHY WOULD IT JUST FAIL FOR NO APPARENT REASON? THERE MUST BE A RECALL FOR THIS; PLEASE ADVISE. THANK YOU.

MY TRUCK VIBRATES AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 55 -68 MPH. I NO LONGER HAVE 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND WAS TOLD IT IS MY RIGHT FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRONT END COSTING ME CLOSE TO $3,000. I HAVE SEEN THIS AS AN ISSUE ON RAM AND DODGE FORUMS. IT SEEMS LIKE IF THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF RECALL. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A FEW YEARS BUT THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE DIED LAST YEAR BUT DUE TO COVID I DID NOT GET IT FIXED BECAUSE I WAS WORKING FROM HOME. I AM NOW BACK TO WORK AND NEED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. UNFORTUNATELY THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND AT LEAST A MONTH AWAY. I HAVE 121,000 MILES AND I WOULD HOPE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR YEARS TO COME BUT IN THESE TIMES $3000 IS A DIFFICULT BILL TO TAKE.

AFTER RECEIVING V08/V11 AEM UPDATE NOVEMBER 18TH, 2020 I AM EXPERIENCING AN AVERAGE OF 5-6 MPG LOSS IN FUEL ECONOMY (16.4 MPG MIXED - DOWN FROM 21.5-22 MIXED) AS WELL AS EXPERIENCE SEVERE ACCELERATION LAG. IN TERMS OF HIGHWAY MILEAGE I AM STRUGGLING TO GET 20 MPG. CURRENT ECM: 68306456AI CURRENT TCM: 68234053AH FOLLOWING THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL, DRIVABILITY HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY REDUCED AND HAS CREATED DANGEROUS THROTTLE LAG AND IMPROPER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTION. CLIMBING A MODERATE HILL SHORTLY AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY FORCES THE DRIVER TO MANUALLY DOWNSHIFT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO FIRST GEAR TO GET ANY FORWARD TRAVEL. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WILL RAPIDLY ACCELERATE AFTER THE 2-3 SECOND LAG. ONCE RETURNING TO "DRIVE" AT 15-25 MPH THE TRANSMISSION WILL UP-SHIFT SEVERAL GEARS AND THEN BEGIN SLOWING, DROPPING ENGINE RPM TO 1,000, AGAIN FORCING A MANUAL DOWN-SHIFT TO SECOND OR THIRD GEAR TO MAINTAIN SPEED. THE ENGINE PRODUCES ALMOST NO POWER UNTIL THE ENGINE REACHES 2000 RPM. ALL OF THIS BEHAVIOR BEGAN AFTER THE NOTED RECALL. THIS FAULT IS CAUSED BY CRYSTALLIZED DIESEL EXHUAST FLUID (DEF) ON THE INTEGRATED SENSOR IN THE DEF TANK. THE SENSOR IS UNABLE TO DETECT THE AMOUNT OF FLUID IN TANK AND WILL SHUT DOWN ENGINE AFTER 500 MILES IF THE TANK IS NOT REPLACED. I DO BELIEVE AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT RECALLS FOR THIS FAULT WHICH ARE: NUMBER: 18-038-15 REV. B AND NUMBER: 25-001-15 REV A. THE FIRST ONE COVERS A PCM FLASH FOR THE 2015 RAM AND 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. IN THE NOTES IT SAYS THAT THIS IS FOR ALL 3 LITER 8 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS. WHICH SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE A 2014 RAM ECODIESEL. THE SECOND ONE IF FOR 2014-15 RAM 2500,3500+ WITH 6.7L DIESEL ENGINES. IT WILL HONK AND THE DOORS WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK REALLY FAST AGAIN WITH NO ONE NEAR IT AND THE KEYS HANGING UP. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS AND NO ONE CAN FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION TO TURN RIGHT CAME TO A STOP THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC SO ACCELERATED TO TURN ONTO HIGHWAY FEEDER WHEN I HEARD A WEIRD SOUND AND FELT THE TRUCK DECELERATE. I PUSHED THE PEDAL A LITTLE HARDER AND NOTICED NO CHANGE IN SPEED RPMS WERE DROPPING AS WELL AS BOOST GAUGE I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND SAW A TRAIL OF SMOKE AND BEGAN MAKING MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. WHILE MAKING MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER SMOKE BEGAN COMING INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK AND THE ENGINE DIED, I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND POPPED THE HOOD LATCH WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD THERE WAS A SMALL FIRE ON THE BACK OF THE MOTOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE EGR AND TURBO. IMMEDIATELY CLOSED THE HOOD GRABBED A BOTTLE OF WATER FROM THE CAB OPENED THE HOOD AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAME. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO BEGAN LOOKING AT THE TRUCK AND SAID IT APPEARED THE EGR GOT HOT OR THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE WIRING SYSTEM. I CONTACTED RAM TO VERIFY MY 5Y/100,000M WARRANTY AS WELL AS THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED THEY THEN TURNED ME OVER TO FIAT-CHRYSLER WHO SAID THEY WERE ASSIGNING A SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR TO LOOK AT THE TRUCK AND HAS ORDERED THE DEALERSHIP TO STOP ALL WORK UNTIL INVESTIGATION IS COMPLETE WHICH COULD TAKE 4 WEEKS. THEY DID NOT DO THE REPAIR. DEALER CLEARED THE CODE AND I RETRIEVED IT. THE RAM CONTINUED TO DIE, BUT HAS NOT PRESENTED A TROUBLE CODE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH DODGE/RAM (CASE#33123585) TO WHICH THEY RECENTLY DETERMINED THAT UNTIL THE RAM CANNOT MOVE UNDER ITS OWN POWER, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, DESPITE THE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. SINCE DECEMBER, THE RAM HAS NOW DIED APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES AND SURGED MORE TIMES THAN I REMEMBER. THERE WAS A FACTORY DEFECT WITH THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT AND SATELLITE RADIO ANTENNA SEALS THAT ALOUD WATER TO ENTER THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. EVERYTHING IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WAS SOAKED. I HAD 6 INCHES ON STANDING WATER IN THE COMPARTMENTS. WHEN I DROVE THE TRUCK AFTER 3 DAYS OF RAINING WATER BEGAN TO POUR OUT FROM THE HEADLINER ONTO THE DASHBOARD. DODGE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE RAM BECAUSE IT WAS 700 MILES OUT OF THE WARRANTY. A WEEK AFTER THE STORM, I STARTED THE RAM TO WARM UP ONE MORNING AND WHEN I WENT TO GET IN THE TRUCK EVERY WARNING LIGHT WAS ON, IT WAS BEEPING, I COULD TO SHIFT IT INTO GEAR NOR COULD I TURN THE TRUCK OFF. ONCE I STEPPED OUT OF THE TRUCK IT LOCKED THE DOORS WITH THE TRUCK STILL RUNNING AND I COULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOORS FOR AN HOUR LATER. USAA HAS TOTAL MY RAM OUT BUT CHRYSLER HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE THE LEAK IS A HUGE PROBLEM DATING BACK TO 2004.

FIRST TIME I SHIFTED INTO PARK, RELEASED THE FOOT BRAKE AND IT ROLLED. I MOVED THE SHIFTER TO NEUTRAL THEN BACK TO PARK AND IT ENGAGED NORMALLY. THE SECOND TIME I PLACED THE VEHICLE PARK AND OPENED THE DOOR TO EXIT. IT STARTED ROLLING AWAY BUT I STOPPED IT WITH THE FOOT BRAKE. I LOOKED AT THE ROTARY SHIFT CONTROL AND IT HAD AN INDICATOR LIGHT FOR "PARK". HOWEVER, WHEN I MOVED IT TO NEUTRAL I DID NOT HEAR THE NORMAL CLICK SOUND. PLACED IT BACK IN PARK AND IT WORKED NORMALLY. BOTH INCIDENTS OCCURRED AT HOME (DRIVEWAY) AND THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WITH ENGINE RUNNING WHEN THEY OCCURRED.

IF THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE MODULE FAILING IT WOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED MY VEHICLE TO RUN FOR OVER 1 1/2 WEEKS AND THE REMOTE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD CONTROL OF ALL THE FUNCTIONS OF MY TRUCK IF IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE REMOTE STARTER. THE REMOTE STARTER IS THE ONLY THING THAT ALLOW THE RAM 1500 TO RUN AS NORMAL. I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN DONE. I HAD TO PAY $373 TO GET THIS PART REPLACED WHEN ITS A KNOWN ISSUE THEY GO BAD AND THEY GO BAD WITH NO RELATION TO A REMOTE STARTER BEING ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THIS IS UNFAIR FOR CHRYSLER/RAM TO NOT COVER THIS PART AND PUT THE BLAME ON SOMETHING ELSE WHEN ITS A KNOWN DEFECTIVE ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME FROM, AFTER HITTING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 65, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHIMMY, SIDE TO SIDE, AND CONTINUED AT A HIGHER SPEED. I CALLED THE DEALER, AND RETURNED THE TRUCK TO HAVE IT SERVICED, BUT IT DID NOT HELP. I WAS TOLD IT WAS FLAT SPOTS ON THE TIRES, AND TO GIVE IT SOME TIME. AFTER ALMOST 4000 MILES, AND 4 VISITS BACK FOR SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. ALL THE TRUCKS RIDE THE SAME. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I FOUND OUT THROUGH VARIOUS FORUMS, THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, AND IF THE TIRES ARE CHANGED OUT, THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY. OUR '14 RAM 1500 WAS BOUGHT NEW ON 6/22/15. ON 8/9/15 OUR NEW 2014 DODGE RAM WAS PARKED ON A INCLINE IN A FRIENDS DRIVEWAY. MY WIFE AND SON GOT IN THE TRUCK, STARTED IT AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE TO LEAVE. AFTER MOVING ONLY A FEW FEET MY WIFE NOTICED THE HOSTESS COMING DOWN THE DRIVE TO SAY GOODBYE. SHE PLACED THE TRUCK IN PARK, GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN AND WALKED TO THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK. WHILE GIVING THE HOSTESS A HUG, HOSTESS EXCLAIMED YOUR TRUCK IS ROLLING AWAY. MY WIFE TRIED TO RUN BACK AND AROUND THE DOOR TO GET IN THE VEHICLE. BEFORE SHE COULD, THE OPEN DOOR TOOK DOWN TWO MAILBOXES AND 4X4 TIMBER POSTS THEY WERE MOUNTED ON AND OPENED THE DOOR BEYOND THE SPRING LIMIT PUSHING INTO THE FRONT FENDER AND POPPING OUT THE FRONT HEAD LIGHT. THE TRUCK ROLLED ACROSS THE STREET INTO THE NEIGHBORS YARD HITTING A POWER POLL WHERE IT CAME TO STOP. THE IMPACT TO THE POLL WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO PULL DOWN POWER LINES. UPON REACHING THE VEHICLE A MALE GUEST NOTED THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN PARK. MY 9 YEAR OLD WAS STILL STRAPPED INTO HIS SEAT BELT AND SIGNIFICANTLY SHAKEN UP THOUGH NOT INJURED. THE POLICE AND UTILITY COMPANY ARRIVED. THE OFFICER WROTE HIS REPORT UP AS VEHICLE MALFUNCTION. THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR SAID THE VEHICLE COULD BE DRIVEN IN ITS CONDITION. HE PULLED BACK THE DOOR TO AS CLOSE TO CLOSED AS POSSIBLE AND TIED CLOSED. THE REAR BUMPER AND TAILGATE ARE TRASHED. INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAS GIVEN PRELIMINARY ESTIMATE OF $8,900. THE POWER COMPANY HAS NOT CONTACTED US YET ABOUT THEIR SERVICE CALL. I GUESS VERY FORTUNATE THAT MY WIFE DID NOT MAKE IT AROUND THE DOOR AS SHE COULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND TWO MAILBOXES. ALSO THANKFUL THE THE TRUCK WENT STRAIGHT ACROSS THE STREET RATHER THAN TURNING AND GOING DOWN A LONG HILL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY APPLIED AN UPDATE TO THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE RAN FINE FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS THAN STARTED LURCHING SLIGHTLY BETWEEN GEAR CHANGES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN THEY RESET THE TRANSMISSION AND RELEARNED THE PROGRAMMING.THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT I SHOULD NO LONGER HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION. IT WORKED FINE FOR A DAY OR TWO AND IS NOW DOWN SHIFTING HARD AGAIN. APPARENTLY THERE'S NO WAY THAT THEY CAN FIX MY TRANSMISSION SO IT RUNS LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 2,500 MILES ON IT. A BRAND NEW VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ISSUES THE TRANSMISSION. NOW I HAVE TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT FOR THE THIRD TIME OF COURSE I ALSO HAVE TO EXPLAIN THAT THE UPDATE THEY GAVE ME THE FIRST TIME CAUSED ANOTHER ISSUE. WITHIN THE FIRST 4000 MILES OF DRIVING THE BRAND NEW VEHICLE EXHAUST STARTED TO COME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND STARTED ENTERING THE CABIN, IT NOW HAS 22000 MILES. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN AND FOUND NOTHING. 10000 MILES CHECKUP I TOLD THEM THE SAME THING BUT ITS GETTING A LOT WORSE SO THEY SAID IT WAS WHEN THEY DID AN OIL CHANGE AND OIL GOT ONTO THE EXHAUST SO THEY CLEANED MY UNDERCARRIAGE, BUT THE PROBLEM WOULD STILL OCCUR. 15000 I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN AND THEY REPLACED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER SAYING THAT WAS THEY ISSUE BUT AS SOON AS I GOT HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP IT STARTED AGAIN. I HAVE SINCE BEEN CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP CONSTANTLY BECAUSE NOW THERE IS A RECALL PERTAINING TO THE ISSUE I SPECIFICALLY HAVE (HIGH FREQUENCY DECOUPLER) RECALL (R04). SINCE THEN THEY KEEP TELLING ME THE PART IS ON BACKORDER AND I JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT. MY TRUCK SMOKES FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND ENTERS THE CABIN FROM THE AIR VENTS, IT GETS TO THE POINT WHERE YOU CANT DRIVE IT WITHOUT GETTING DIZZY. NORTH STAR DODGE DEALERSHIP IN SAN ANTONIO IS WHO I HAVE BEEN CONTACTING WITH THIS ISSUE AND CHARLES SPECIFICALLY FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THERE ADMINISTRATION HAS DONE NOTHING TO ALLEVIATE THE ISSUE FOR ME OR ACCOMMODATE ME IN ANY WAY. FROM THE TIME I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE I HAVE CONTACTED THE FCA MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY TELL ME THE DEALERSHIP HAS IT ON ORDER BUT CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT ACCOMMODATING ME EITHER. AFTER THAT FIRST EVENT, WE ENSURED THE WINDOWS WERE ALWAYS FULLY CLOSED IN ORDER TO SEE IF THERE WOULD BE ANY OTHER LEAK EVENT. HOWEVER FOLLOWING THE HEAVY RAIN WE HAVE HAD IN MAY IN HOUSTON, WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY WITHOUT MOVING FOR 4 WEEKS, CONDENSATION WAS NOTICED ON THE WINDSHIELD. ONCE OPENED THE CAR WAS MOLDY INSIDE ON REAR SEATS AND KIDS CAR SEATS, FLOOR CARPET, ETC... THE BACK SEATS ARE WET (WATER POURING FROM THEM) AND THE FLOOR CARPET IS WET INCLUDING UNDER BACK SEATS (ELECTRIC CABLING AREA). ALSO SEVERAL AREAS START SHOWING IMPRESSIVE RUST INCLUDING BELOW DRIVER SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL (PEDAL AREA). THE CAR IS BRAND NEW, BOUGHT 3 MONTHS AGO.
ABOUT 6 WEEKS AFTER FIRST OIL CHANGE THE FILTER STARTED LEAKING. FILTER WAS CHAMP TYPE AND PERFORMED AT A VERY RESPECTABLE AUTOMOTIVE SHOP. NO OIL LEAKS ANYWAY ELSE. THE VEHICLE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE LIGHTS ALTHOUGH NECESSARY WHILE NIGHT, SWITCHED OFF. ENTERING THE CURVE WAS DIFFICULT AS STEERING WAS POSSIBLE BUT REQUIRED MORE TORQUE TO STEER. I ALWAYS LEARNED THAT 99.9% OF ROADS MAINTAIN THEIR RADIUS THROUGHOUT. THIS WAS HELPFUL AS I HAD THE INTERIOR LIGHT ON JUST REACHING FOR SEAT BELT PRIOR TO THE APPROACHING CURVE SO WHEN THE LIGHTS FAILED AND THE CAB ILLUMINATED I LOST ALL VISION TO THE OUTSIDE.
