Crankshaft position sensor and tone wheel went out outside the extended coverage.
While driving at approximately 50 mph, my truck suddenly shut off without warning. I lost engine power, power brakes, and power steering. I was only able to stop safely because I happened to be traveling uphill. This created a serious safety hazard. The failure was caused by the crankshaft tone ring issue addressed in the existing recall. The tone ring has already been replaced, but the recall requires a dealer-performed ECM software update to complete the repair and ensure the vehicle is safe to operate. The dealership is refusing to perform the recall software update because my truck has an aftermarket exhaust and a modified EGR valve. These modifications are unrelated to the recall. The recall only involves an ECM software update, and my ECM is completely stock. Because of this refusal, I cannot safely drive my truck. I am concerned that the engine may shut off again at higher speeds, creating a severe risk of an accident. I am requesting assistance to ensure the recall is completed so the vehicle can be operated safely.
In writing complaint against FCA for not fairness for some VINs with Ecodiesel doesn’t include W68. Following with recall W58 vs W68, my VIN was picked for W58, but never pick for W68 because my VIN is not included. Just complete service for crankshaft throttle failure and spent $2000 for this. I am very disappointed that crankshaft failure recalled do not cover because W68 was not included. I think those W58 for computer update failed to prevent break down due to loose magnetic issue. My VIN is suppose to add recall for W68 because FCA missed this. W58 failed to cover the damages with crankshaft which is mean computer doesn’t solve the problem.
I was resuming speed after a toll, my 2015 Ram Eco Diesel 1500 lost all momentum, threw an alarm to service the Electronic Throttle with a red lightning bolt framed by two red lines, and I limped to the shoulder with several semi close on my tail. After researching I shut off for a minute, removed key, opened door, then restarted. The engine struggled and revved several times before starting. The dealership confirmed the Tone Wheel is cracked in several places and is failing of not fault of mine. She is still there with the parts on order. This is related to already completed recall W58, although should be addressed by W68. I should not be penalized for taking good care of my truck. I have had rust all throughout the frame of the truck
Transmission started to slip and not have the power it supposed to have.
I was driving on the highway when my power steering assist stopped functioning and almost caused a major traffic collision. I was able to limp the vehicle to a dodge dealership who informed me that the problem was in fact the EPS module that controls the power steering. Dealership nor Dodge will pay for the issue knowing it is an issue that almost caused a major accident. Made complaint with Mopar and customer service and they said nothing they will do. I find this disheartening that they know this major problem exists and offer no solution or assistance. I see your office still has an open investigation into this issue. Please help me get this fixed as I shouldn't have to put out over 4k to fix a known faulty part. Thank you.
The electronic power steering component itself is failing. When turning the steering wheel one way the wheel will jerk the opposite direction and be very difficult to turn due to the power steering failing. An indicator light on the instrument panel comes on that states to service the steering control system and then shuts off by itself. This impacts the safety of all those in or around the vehicle when in motion due to steering becoming impossible or next to impossible to control. The vehicle has never been under water nor in the snow to cause any such damage. The problem is continuous and can be reproduced and inspected at any time supporting this claim. The factory has a recall in place for this year model and month range for when this truck was produced but my vin is not showing up as being part of the troubled load. It however does fit all of the criteria outlined by the manufacture and current issued recall.
The concern is a rear end collision. At road speeds, vehicle changed to neutral (popped out of gear). Engine continued to run. Vehicle had to cost to a safe spot. At stop the vehicle was turned completely off and restarted with no issue. This is a repeatable but intermittent issue. This issue has also occurred at stop signs and slow speeds. The engine check light and ABS Light did come on. The following stored codes were present: P0340, P1DD2 and U1424. The following pending codes were present: P1DD2, U017E-70, P0340-30, U1424, U0415. Camshaft Position Sensor was changed; but didn't fix the issue.
While driving down the highway suddenly loss of power with MIL light. Pulled over contacted dealer. Codes p200a and p200b. Set up appointment. Delivered vehicle to dealer. Inspection shows excessive soot buildup inside intake. Loss of power on road could cause vehicle accident and/or leave people stranded.
On about [XXX], I was driving and my engine felt like it missed and my check engine light came on and a message appeared telling me to get remote throttle serviced. The truck began to drive badly and lack of acceleration made it difficult to maneuver in traffic. The truck was very difficult to start and unsafe to pull into traffic due to lagging ability to accelerate. I took it to a Firestone and they pulled the codes and said the crankshaft sensor and crank tone wheel had failed and needed replacing. I decided to take it to a RAM dealer in Franklin TN to confirm the diagnosis. After about a week, they confirmed and said crankshaft sensor and reluctor wheel needed to be replaced. I asked them if it would be covered under the recall (FCA W58) on the known defect of the crank tone wheel delaminating. When the recall occurred, I had the temporary solution of a computer flash done back in 2021, but the actual defective part was not replaced. They reported back to me that the cost of the repair would not be covered. They said my truck was too old, but the defect was discovered while my truck was still under warranty. Also, under a previous FCA lawsuit, they were made to pay truck owners money and extend their warranty. How can they get away with not having to rectify a known defect without fixing the problem? The computer flash simply allowed the vehicle to continue to operate, but it was by no means safe to operate on public streets in traffic. Will the NHTSA make FCA actually fix this problem? Rear Axle Shaft replacement Rear axle bearing & axle seal replacement Low compression cylinder 3 - not fixed It stalled out while driving and I made it to the side of the road and I had to have it towed. It was determined it is low compression on cylinder 3. Possible internal valve in the engine. Engine light came on right before it stalled.
I am reporting a defective tone wheel on my 2015 RAM 1500 Pickup equipped with a 3.0L engine ("RAM") while accelerating into congested rush hour Interstate traffic. The RAM experienced an unexpected significant loss of power due to loss of crankshaft position. Subsequent inspection by the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership confirmed that the RAM suffered a loss of crankshaft position due to a missing section of the magnetic material attached to the tone wheel and that as many as 14 cracks in the magnetic material are visible. For an undisclosed reason, FCA US did not include the RAM in Important Safety Recall W68/NHTSA 20V-475 (replacement of defective tone wheel) but rather kicked the can down the road and reprogrammed the software in the Powertrain Control Module under Safety Recall W58/NHTSA 20V-475. Based on material evidence of the failed tone wheel, it is clear that the RAM should have been included in the tone wheel replacement recall. FCA US refuses to cover the replacement of the defective tone wheel under Recall W68/NHTSA 20V-475 and extend the tone wheel warranty under FCA US Extended Warranty Letter X94. I am hopeful that NHTSA will compel FCA US aka Stellantis to include the vehicle(s) excluded from Recall W68/NHTSA 20V-475 and reimburse the owner(s) the cost(s) associated with the replacement of the defective tone wheel under Letter X94.
Tone wheel delaminating while driving. I was passing a vehicle in a passing zone and the truck lost power. Safety was definitely put at risk luckily there was no one in the on coming lane. Problem was confirmed by independent shop. Has an appt with manufacturer March 10th 2025. No prior warning lamps or other symptoms. I know there was recall about this certain issue, but the recall only changed the computer software, and didn’t actually fix the defective part.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH, the ETC warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. The ETC light disappeared and then the check engine warning light, ABS, and ETC warning lights illuminated. Subject: Complaint Regarding Camshaft and Lifter Failure in 2015 Ram 1500 5.7L V8 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally submit a complaint regarding the camshaft and lifter failure in my 2015 Ram 1500 5.7L V8, which has only 141,000 miles. This issue began as a faint ticking sound—known commonly as the “Hemi tick”—and has progressively worsened, leading to severe internal engine damage. Now, I am faced with the need for a complete engine replacement. The “Hemi tick” is a widely recognized issue that often starts with a minor noise but is known to develop into serious mechanical failure in Hemi engines. Despite its prevalence, this issue is frequently dismissed until it causes significant and costly engine damage. In my situation, what began as a ticking noise has led to camshaft and lifter failure, which I now understand is a recurring defect in these vehicles. This situation presents a major safety concern. With these parts deteriorating from what appears to be a design flaw, there is a high risk of sudden engine failure while driving. The failure of the camshaft and lifters can lead to immediate loss of power, which could leave drivers stranded or in dangerous situations on highways and busy roads. Additionally, sudden engine failure at higher speeds could lead to loss of vehicle control, endangering not only the driver and passengers but also other motorists. I recently experienced this firsthand. Luckily, my family and I, were able to maintain control and get to safety. I believe that this widespread defect requires attention to ensure the safety of those on the road. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate the durability and reliability of the camshaft and lifters in Dodge Ram vehicles with Hemi engines and take appropriate action to address this safety risk. The crankshaft sensor and turn wheel had a recall of 2015. My Vin.# Did not make the list. Every where on line said the turn wheel magnets started breaking just after 100,000 miles. Mine broke just under 108,000 miles. It cost $2,969.33 to fix this. I want re-embursed!!!! The year, the millage, the problem all match up for this truck to be on the recall. They said Mine just needed an update. Wrong! It broke just like the others and cost me almost $3000. The mechanic called the magnetic piece that broke in the transmission the (turn wheel ) I think. Please look into this.
Truck has less than 78k miles on it and I am the second owner. Bought it from a dealer and I mentioned to them that the rear end seemed to have some new metal pieces on it with silicone around it. Hard to imagine silicone used on a rear end. When I questioned it, the salesman stated that it was all set and fine. When I road tested it, there was a stiffness in the steering wheel. I mentioned that as well and was told that they steer hard. Then once home, it continued and that didn't sit quite right with me, so I continued to contact the dealership and they never would return my calls. Eventually, something gave and the steering was fine. We have had the truck a year as of May 2024. On [XXX] I was driving on the highway, at 70mph and the rear end just snapped on my truck! In the middle of the highway! I cannot see a drop of gear oil, if there should be some. Rear end snapped clear off to spline. No idea what caused this as of yet. Spent 2 weeks trying to get the dealership to return my calls, texts or emails. Then took time off work to drive over there. Service man told me that Chrysler may cover it, Chrysler said it was the dealerships responsibility. Unreal. Never have a I towed a single thing with this truck, the rear end never should have busted like this. I seen some recalls, but do not know why my particular truck was not listed. I did see another complaint on this site, regarding the axle breaking and causing the rear end to bust. I have not taken the truck apart as of yet. Nobody wants to take responsibility without severe out of pockets costs to me. I am already without a vehicle to get to work. Number 8 roller fell down and cause the camshaft to have deep groove in the loob. I rebuilt the upper part of the motor bur now still getting check engine light on… july 2023 2nd) Now the power steering is trying to lock up while driving. On sept 2, 2024
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the rear axle suddenly fractured causing the rear passenger’s side wheel to separate from the vehicle. During the failure, the rear end of the vehicle began to fishtail, and the vehicle almost crashed into an oncoming semi-truck. The vehicle was towed to the local mechanic who replaced the rear axle. After retrieving the vehicle, the engine failed causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was towed back to the local service center which diagnosed that the engine crank sensor had failed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact also indicated that while operating the vehicle, the DEF system malfunctioned causing the vehicle to drive at a top speed of 37 MPH. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who reset the DEF system and the vehicle was repaired but later reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V661000 (Power Train) and 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 140,000.

I previously sent a complaint regarding my vehicles CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I took it to a dealership and I now have to wait for the part to be ordered! Then it is going to be about 2 weeks before it can be repaired! I was told by the dealership that this part had been on a recall list! So I feel someone should be responsible for fixing and paying for this repair! Approximately $1000! I bought the truck used so therefore the dealer I bought it from should have known this! Right?! While driving my vehicle seemed to downshift (best way I can describe it) and then I had a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT come on and another type of warning light came on. I was able to get it to a place that put a tester on it and I got a DIAGNOSTIC CODE P0336. REPLACE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I had to drive it home but it wasn't running right and is hard to start now. I have only had this truck since Dec. 2021 and this makes the 4th sensor that has messed up! I will call a dealer Monday to make a service appointment but I feel I shouldn't have to pay for this! Luckily I was able to drive it home. Can you help me? Thank you. pulling out into traffic and my truck stalled and the truck threw the code p0336 crankshaft position sensor a circuit range/performance. luckily i was able to pull into the median out of the way of traffic. took it to the dealer and they have done the new recall for the reprogram to sense off the cam instead of the crankshaft. this did not fix the problem dealer says its the tone wheel and the manufacture wont fix the tone wheel under the one of the recalls that was previously issued that was to replace the tone wheel. truck was running just fine untill this happened.

Failure of the tone wheel on a 2015 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. W58 recall dated 2/2021 was performed. ( a software repair for a mechanical issue) W68 recall also dated 2/2021 refers to the replacement of the tone wheel in certain Ram 1500 trucks. On 2/26/2024 My vehicle would not start following a lack Of acceleration/hesitation the night before on the freeway with my daughter driving late at night by herself! I Had to have the high pressure fuel system, fuel rails and injectors replaced due to metal shavings found. (All under a separate recall that had just come out) The dealer also said the tone wheel needed replacement and was the source of the inability to start and the hesitation in acceleration that was encountered. Ram refuses to cover the tone wheel despite the knowledge they have regarding the delaminating of the tone wheel. Supposedly the W58, a software update) was to over ride the mechanical issue of a delaminating tone wheel. How can a software update repair an obvious and known mechanical issue? Why was my vehicle given a “band-aide” and not repaired correctly? Why is the NHTSB allowing Ram to band-aide a mechanical issue that could cause serious injuries due to loss of power or acceleration in a traffic scenario. It makes absolutely no sense. Please look at this issue regarding the band-aide fix and enforce the correct decision in W68 to replace the defective mechanical part of ALL affected vehicles allowing the many many owners that have suffered financially due to their ineptitude in fixing the problem correctly the first time! I have been in contact with several people representing RAM with no satisfaction. While various service people sympathize with me and completely understand my point, they are unable to cover the tone wheel repair. It is Very frustrating to deal with customer reps from RAM outside of the dealership who have zero mechanical knowledge.
The engine seems to have failed. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk as the vehicle lost all power on the highway. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected, but due diligence needs to be done on the part of the inspectors to get at the root cause of the failure. No, that was one of the most alarming and scary parts is that there were no symptoms, warning messages, etc.
My Ram 1500 has lost power several times while cruising at 55+. The first time was related to recall W58. My crank sensor became delaminated and caused my truck to completely die. After months of waiting I finally received my truck back, however, the recall is still open due to there being no fix. Just a few months later my truck died twice on the highway. This time it was due to recall Z46. After being sent from one person to the next all I am left with is I am on a list that is about 2 years behind for replacement parts.
I was traveling with my Ram 1500 Eco diesel truck pulling my camper when the Crankshaft position sensor on the transmission failed and my truck went into limp mode. I called the local ram dealership and they said they couldn't get me in for 5 days. I was staying in my camper off of the side of the road. So needing to do something I called another local shop and they got me in the next day and put it on diagnostics. Luckily they were an honest shop and they ran the truck and found out that this truck had a recall or extended manufacturers warranty for this sensor so they called the dealership for me and verified it. So I paid 150 dollars for the diagnostics and took my truck to the dealership to have the recall work on the sensor done. a week later I picked it up. I sent the 150 dollars receipt for the diagnostic work to FCA and they refuse to pay stating they don't pay for diagnostics. The only reason I had a diagnostic done was because of the failing part which turned out to be on recall or extended manufacturers warranty. I feel they owe me for this covered repaired. The lifter is ticking for no reason I always use royal purple in my 2015 ram 1500 now for no reason out of no where it started to tick just driving to work. Now the more I research I find out that these hemi 5.7 engines are well known to tick because of the lift. If these lifters are well known to go out why haven't a recall been activated to fix the problem. I love my ram truck but now I'm going to have to spend money to fix it that I don't not have. That should recall these vehicles because this how they will lose customers.
Crankshift position sensor code PO366 was orginally fixed a couple years ago with a computer update. Now having the same issues hard to start and engine not firing correctly to safely merge with traffic. Been ran off road because it takes so long to get up to highway speeds. An independent service center has found the same issue. Not able to get into the dealer until after the new year. I was driving down the road and it just went sluggish then the warning light went on after I was on the side of the road.
No wreck related. But my truck just stopped running. It could of been bad if I was on a highway. The truck will not start or run. Diagnostic says it's, crank shaft positioning sensor. There is a recall for this but it's vin specific and mine is not listed. This could be a very deadly issue. No warning lights at all the truck just stopped running.
The crankshaft went out and needed to replace complete engine. I know other newer models ram 1500 trucks have the same problem but mine is a 2015, it was not listed on the recall.
On the date of 10/24/2023 on my way home from work as I was exiting the freeway when I suddenly lost power steering thank god im only about 3 miles from home because it was extremely difficult to steer .
While driving on the highway between Nenana and Fairbanks, AK, on August 9, 2023, I attempted to pass a slow moving RV towing a trailer. While in the passing lane, I accelerated and my vehicle suddenly loss power. I was forced to swerve out of the passing lane to avoid a collision with with oncoming traffic and the vehicle being passed. After that event, the vehicle would not exceed 3000rpms or 35mph up hills. Immediately after the event, the service engine light came on and the dash showed engine error codes. I took the vehicle to the dealer (Gene's Chrysler in Fairbanks Alaska). After inspection, they indicate that the magnetic surface of the engine tone wheel was delaminating and this initiated the sensor to cause a "limp mode" (mode that limits vehicle's speed). After that event, the vehicle also had trouble starting as though it was not receiving sufficient fuel. The dealer indicated that my vehicle's vin was not covered under the recall even though the problem matched NHTSA campaign number: 23V411. Stellantis’ own number for this recall is 66A. This recall is an expansion of recall 20V475. I feel that my vehicle needs to be added to this recall. Without my vehicle covered under this recall, my family is incurring the costs of a rental car until the new part arrives. The vehicle was dropped off at the dealer on August 23. The part is delayed and expected on October 15 (nearly a two month wait because of a vehicle defect that effects safety). The dealer indicated my vehicle is unsafe to drive. Why isn't my vehicle part of this recall? It is clearly the exact problem identified in the recall notice.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that after several attempts, he was able to restart the vehicle. The check engine warning light and the throttle control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the magnetic material attached to the tone wheel had delaminated and the engine lost the ability to synchronize the injector pulses and cam timing. The contact was informed that the powertrain control module (PCM) software needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact notified the dealer and was informed that the recall repair was previously completed on the vehicle and advised the contact to notify the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the recall was previously completed, and the contact was responsible for all future repairs. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

The vehicle has experienced multiple Turbo underboost code causing the vehicle to be put into limp mode without any explanation, Rhyme or Reason. The vehicle once this code is tripped places the vehicle into limp mode at which time virtually all power is lost this is now happened three different times with no explanation completely randomly the last time was when pulling a trailer uphill resulting in a near crash experience and being stranded on the side of the highway I had to force reset the computer by cycling the ignition to get the code to go away there was no problems prior to this code popping up or after. When this occurs it can be extremely dangerous when at highway speeds considering that the vehicle goes into limp mode and you're no longer able to go more than 10 miles an hour let alone if you're pulling a trailer it's virtually impossible to move the vehicle and if you're going uphill on a two-lane Highway with fully loaded 18 wheelers behind you at 65 mph and you all of a sudden come to a crawl you can see how this poses a major risk for injury or accident

The vehicle loss power why I was attempting to accelerate on the highway. I observed ticking noise from the engine that progressively got louder and began knocking noise that eventually caused the vehicle to under perform. I took vehicle to dealer and they informed me of a damaged lifter in cylinder #5 the damaged cylinder camshaft.

NOW 'UNSAFE' TO NAVIGATE NORMAL TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF THE DELAY IN RESPONSE FROM INPUT (DEPRESS ACCELERATOR) TO RESPONSE (VEHICLE MOVING AT MINIMALLY ACCEPTABLE SPEED) CONFIRMED BY SERVICE MANAGER AT DEALER. NO OTHER INSPECTIONS.NO REMEDY OFFERED. NO INDICATORS (VISUALOR AUDIBLE) MILES NOW APPRIOX 51000, ALL SERVICE DONE BY DEALER. NO ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES TO REPORT. ISSUE SIGNIFICANT AND WORSENING TOPOINT AVOID USING IT.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted into neutral(N). The transmission seized, and the contact had to disconnect the battery to correct the failure. The transmission, traction control, and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the windshield wipers inadvertently activated while driving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the wheel speed sensor and prong on the dashboard were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then towed to McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT (3709 S Thompson St, Springdale, AR 72764), where the door module, ABS sensor, and clockspring were replaced; however, the failure recurred. i was traveling about 70 mph on the highway when i hit the accelerator to go around somebody and when i did the vehicle lost power and went into limp mode. service electronic throttle and check engine light came on. took truck to the dealership and they said it was the tone ring. this problem was already a recall in 2020 for this issue but the recall just make the truck start after this malfunction happens. the tone ring is held on my magnetic components. if this tone ring fails every 50 thousand miles which is a great safety hazard as it causes the vehicle to lose power especially on the highway then this needs to be completely covered by a recall even if the issue isn't resolvable. im quoted $1,700 for the tone ring replacement and the truck has been sitting at the dealership for 2 weeks now because the part is on back order from the fact that this is happening a lot. this needs to be corrected and made right for eco diesel owners.

Driving down the interstate at normal speed 60mph. There was a loud pop and white smoke, I pulled over and the drive shaft had broke loose, the u joint broke and cracked my transfer case. Dodge has a very bad problem in these year model with this same issue.
I backup a long side a dumpster and put in park, got out and all the sudden my truck started moving backwards and just about ran me over. If I would not have had my door open and got cought on the corner of the dumpster, it would have ran me over. So this event ended up ripping my door off, so I got it replaced out of pocket because I thought it way fault but it happened again after that. But this time I cought it in time. I just would like to see if the problem is being addressed or is it still being investigated.

Mins after buying the dodge ram 1500 truck with only 77,000 miles on truck.. The check engine light came on and was locking itself in 4th gear and when returned to dealership they found it was the transmission shifter solenoid which was around a $700.00 to fix. I told dealership I wanted to return the truck if it was already having major issues but they said It was under 30 day warranty and reassured me that it was a great truck and fixed under warranty. Then in Feb 2022 still under 100,000 miles it started driving rough and in same day I went to get oil change and asked if they could look at the truck. Immediately they said it was deadly to drive any further and said it must be a manufacture defect because not only was the axel broke at less than 100,000 miles but the piece being the intermediate axel shaft was broke as well and needed to be replaced immediately and that this was very rare to have happen on any vehicle this early in milage.This costing us around $1000.00 to fix in autoshop. Manifold bolts have sheared causing exhaust leak while occasionally enters cab area when not in motion. Issue was brought to the attention of dealer on 4 different occasions when under warranty and no repair was made. Ram customer care was contacted now that the power train warranty has expired and no solution was offered. This is a well documented issue and I am concerned about the safety risk.
W58 recall inspection completed. Chrysler states W68 recall does not apply to vehicle because the part affected was not made at or at the time of the part (tone ring on fly wheel) was not at the location or time as others which are eligible for the recall. Initially EGR recall completed with engine light - a few weeks later crank shaft position sensor error code engine light. Crank shaft position sensor was originally inspected - can cause engine to stop or go into limp mode while driving. Truck went into limp mode after pulling out of driveway onto busy street

My 2015 Ram 1500 abruptly downshifted into 4th gear while driving down the road at approximately 50 mph. I immediately pulled off the road and found that the truck was stuck in 4th gear. After some research I've found this is very common with the RAM's and that they had a recall on the newer models for the same issue. If I would have been going around a bend when this occurred, it would have caused an accident. I'm not going to have to spend around $1000 to repair something that is an obvious defect. It's going to cause an accident, or more accidents if nothing is done about it.

ENGINE WAS LOPING SO BAD IT FELT LIKE I HAD A FLAT TIRE. GOT THE TRUCK IN DRIVE - STILL LIMITED POWER, NO POWER STEERING. GOT TRUCK UP TO HOUSE SAFELY OFF ROAD- YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET TRUCK IN PARK ON SELECTOR KNOB. SHUT TRUCK OFF. CALLED TO MAKE AN APPT. TO GET TRUCK IN. TRIED TO START TRUCK AND WOULD TURN OVER BUT WILL NOT START. I GOT NOTICE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO OF LOSS OF CRANK POSITION. I CALLED LARSON DODGE TO GET IT FIXED AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE INFO ON HOW TO FIX IT YET, TO CALL BACK AFTER FIRST OF YEAR. SO HERE I AM. IT IS VERY SCARY TO PULL ONTO MAIN 2 LANE HWY AND TOTALLY LOSE POWER AND CONTROL ALL AT THE SAME TIME. SECOND ENGINE FAILED: 8/03/2020. TRAVELING 65MPH ON I-83. NO LIGHTS, ONLY A ENGINE KNOCKING SOUND. REROUTED TO DEALER 1 MILE AWAY, AND IT COMPLETELY DIED 1/2 MILE LATER. MAJOR RECALLS OVER THE SHORT LIFE OF THIS TRUCK, AND NOW FCA IS POTENTIALLY UNWILLING TO COVER THE COST OF THE 3RD ENGINE, EVEN THOUGH IT ONLY HAS ~30K MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY PULLING A SMALL 16 FT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL SAFELY ONTO THE SHOULDER AND POPPED THE HOOD WHERE I NOTICED FLAMES. I TOLD MY FAMILY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND TRIED TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES (WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER FROM MY CAMPER) TO NO AVAIL. WE CALLED 911 AND WAITED FOR THE FIRE CREW TO ARRIVE. THE VEHICLE IS A COMPLETE LOSS. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE (19V-757) REGARDING EGR ISSUES AND POTENTIAL FOR ENGINE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE LOCAL DEALER AND HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED ON MAY 18TH. THE RECALL WAS LISTED AS COMPLETE AND INSPECTED, HOWEVER AFTER REPORTING THE INCIDENT TO FCA, THE STATUS OF THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO OPEN. ATTACHED YOU WILL SEE PHOTOS OF THE SHOP VISIT SHOWING RECALL COMPLETION. I HAD TO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT THAT A SAFE VEHICLE IS REQUIRED FOR MY JOB. WHEN GOING UP A STEEP HILL AT SLOW SPEEDS (15 MPH FOR EXAMPLE) THE VEHICLE SHIFTS UP UNTIL THE TRUCK BOGS DOWN AND ALMOST COMES TO A STOP. PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR REVS THE ENGINE UP, PAUSES FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN DROPS INTO A LOW GEAR AND JERKS FORWARD. THIS LASTS MOMENTARILY UNTIL THE VEHICLE UPSHIFTS AGAIN AND BOGS DOWN. THIS CYCLE IS REPEATED OVER AND OVER IF YOU HAVE TO ASCEND SLOWLY. 3. WHEN ACCELERATING UNTO THE FREEWAY, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO 8TH GEAR. IT HOLDS AT 2100+ RPM AND WON'T SHIFT UP UNLESS YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR! THIS VEHICLE IS A HAZARD ON THE ROADWAY AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ADDITIONALLY, THE AEM HAS CAUSED MY TRUCK TO GET A 20% REDUCTION IN MPG. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN SEVERAL TIMES AND OPENED UP A CASE. I WAS JUST RECENTLY SENT AN E-MAIL REPLY SAYING "THEY" ARE FINISHED WITH THE INVESTIGATION AND, "YOUR CONCERNS WITH THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE HAVE BEEN FULLY DIAGNOSED BY OUR CERTIFIED SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING IS A COMMON AND ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE'S DESIGN; THIS MEANS THAT THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING WITHIN ITS FACTORY ENGINEERED SPECIFICATIONS AND THERE ARE NOT CURRENTLY ANY REPAIRS THAT WILL ALTER THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE TO MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS." IF I TRY TO TURN LEFT AND MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THERE IS A SEVERAL SECOND DELAY BEFORE THE TRUCK STARTS BUILDING SPEED. I FEEL THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH. I HAVE UNINTENTIONALLY CUT PEOPLE OFF BECAUSE OF THIS THROTTLE LAG AND ANGERED OTHER DRIVERS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS AFTER THE V08 RECALL ON INTERNET FORUMS. FCA IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A FIX COMING ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET BUT WHO KNOWS IF THAT IS TRUE OR HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE. THE AEM WAS "NOT SUPPOSED TO ALTER VEHICLE PERFORMANCE" ACCORDING TO THE RECALL LETTER. OBVIOUSLY THAT WAS NOT TRUE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED IN A TIMELY MANOR. I HAD MY TRUCK UPDATED ON 5/29/19 WITH THE "AEM", ROTARY SHIFT AUTOPARK RECALL UPDATE, THE SEAT BELT RECALL UPDATE, AIRBAG RECALL UPDATE, AND THE TAILGATE RECALL UPDATE. I ALSO HAD A CATASTROPHIC EGR SYSTEM FAILURE THAT MADE MY TRUCK INOPERABLE FOR NEARLY THREE WEEKS. THE VEHICLE IS NOW UTTERLY UNPREDICTABLE. AFTER THE INITIAL START, I RANDOMLY HAVE NO LOW-END POWER. THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY LURCHES FORWARD AT FULL SPEED WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR FROM A FULL STOP. THIS MORNING I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A DEAD STOP INTO TRAFFIC. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT BARELY INCHED FORWARD FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. SUDDENLY IT HIT FULL POWER AND LAUNCHED INTO THE ROADWAY, BARELY IN TIME TO KEEP FROM BEING T-BONED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SOON THEREAFTER I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WAITING FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO STOP SO THAT I COULD TURN LEFT. THE LIGHT TURNED YELLOW AND TRAFFIC STOPPED SO I TRIED TO TURN. MY TRUCK STUMBLED AND BARELY MOVED UNTIL IT AGAIN, LAUNCHED FORWARD AT FULL POWER CAUSING THE READ END TO SKID OUT TO THE SIDE AND STRIKE THE CURB OF THE SIDEWALK. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE NOW HAS A COMPLETELY RANDOM SHIFT PATTERN. WHEN CRUISING AT 55 MPH THE ENGINE MAY BE RUNNING AT 1500 RPM OR IT MAY BE 2250 RPM. THE INABILITY TO SHIFT CORRECTLY AT HIGH SPEEDS MEANS THAT I CANNOT RELIABLY MERGE WITH, OR OVERTAKE TRAFFIC. IT ALSO MEANS THAT MY TRUCK CANNOT RELIABLY TOW A LOAD WITHOUT POSING A THREAT TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. IT'S NOT PREDICTABLE AND IT'S DANGEROUS.

AFTER RECEIVING THAT SOFTWARE "FIX", MY TRUCK DRIVES NOTABLY DIFFERENT AND IS NOW VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE HUGE DROP IN POWER AND INCREASE IN TURBO LAG. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD OR NOT COMPLETELY UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE, I EXPERIENCE ALMOST NO THROTTLE RESPONSE WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO A HIGHWAY BY MY HOUSE. FUEL INJECTION TIMING RANGES FROM -17 TO +5 DEGREES, ONLY TO MAINTAIN EMISSIONS EFFICIENCY, THE NEW ECU PROGRAMMING COMPLETELY IGNORES EFFICIENT ENGINE MANAGEMENT- FOCUSING ON EMISSIONS CONTROL. SYSTEM AND ENGINE COMPONENTS ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR THE CRAZY EGT TEMPS THAT COME WITH THE LATE FUEL INJECTION. ENGINE FIRES- INTAKE MANIFOLD IN PARTICULAR- ARE BECOMING VERY COMMON. WILL IT TAKE A FEW FATALITIES BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. ALL TO PROVE SOME EPA POINT. I CAN PUT THE PEDAL ON THE FLOOR AND IT CAN TAKE SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE THE TRUCK FINALLY STARTS TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS WITH AN EMPTY TRUCK BUT IS EVEN MORE DANGEROUS WHEN TOWING. I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH OF THIS IS THROTTLE RESPONSE, TRANSMISSION OR TURBO LAG BUT IT IS A SCARY FEELING TO NOT BE ABLE TO MERGE NORMALLY INTO TRAFFIC. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY TRIED A REFLASH OF THE COMPUTER TO ADJUST THE ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR. I THOUGHT IT WAS A LITTLE BETTER FOR A SHORT PERIOD BUT IT IS AS BAD AS EVER.

AFTER V-08 EMISSIONS RECALL ON RAM ECHO DIESEL TRUCK LOST HORSEPOWER AND GETTING LOWER FUEL MILEAGE. THE TRUCK BARELY HAS THE POWER TO MOVE ITSELF MUCH LESS ANY TOWING CAPABILITY. THE FUEL MILEAGE WENT FROM 20 MPG HIGHWAY TO 15 MPG HIGHWAY. HAVE HAD THE TRUCK BACK IN FOR SERVICE THREE TIMES WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. RAM IS TELLING ME THAT THERE IS NOT ANYTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE IT IS A GOVERNMENT RECALL. I DID NOT PURCHASE THIS TRUCK TO HAVE IT GET 15 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAVE NO HORSEPOWER TO TOW. THIS TRUCK IS USED AS A RANCH TRUCK, SO TOWING IS WHAT IT NEEDS TO BE DOING. MY ONLY OPTION NOW IS TO TRADE IT IN FOR A BIGGER TRUCK AT A FINANCIAL HIT ON MY WALLET. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD OF NEVER BEEN ALLOWED TO HAPPEN WITH THE RECALL OVERSITE. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD AND GIVEN PROOF FOR MY VIN THAT I NEED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT BUT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO DO IT BASED ON THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND STAND BEHIND THE INITIAL PROBLEM AND WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE (ENGINE MARK SERVICE MANAGER . I BELIEVE THEY NOT ONLY LIED BUT COMMITTED FRAUD WITH ALL OF THESE REPAIRS. THEY COULD NOT EVEN STOP THE OIL FROM LEAKING EACH TIME THEY SENT MY VEHICLE HOME WITH ME. I TOOK IT TO BILLION IN BOZEMAN TO HAVE THEM LOOK OVER FOR DAMAGES AND SEE IF MY TRUCK WAS PROPERLY REPAIRED. I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD HAVE HAD AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT DUE TO METAL FRAGMENTS IN THE ENGINE OIL AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE REPAIRS. BUT BUTTE DECIDED TO MILK MY TRUCK AND CHRYSLER FOR HOURS AND HOURS AS WELL AS PARTS THAT WHO KNOWS IF THEY REALLY REPLACED THEM. THEY ALSO DAMAGED A HANDFUL OF THINGS ON MY TRUCK THAT HAD TO BE REPAIRED AT BILLION DODGE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED OR TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AS BUTTE MILE HIGH HAS DONE. IN TALKING TO OTHERS THAT KNOW VEHICLE ENGINE REPAIR THERE WERE PARTS THAT DO NOT BREAK THAT THEY CLAIMED BROKE, THEY ALSO STATED THEY HONED A CYLINDER WHICH WOULD HAVE REQUIRED THEM PULLING THE ENGINE AND PROPER HONING IS ALL CYLINDERS, NOT JUST ONE. RE: 2015 RAM 1500 PICKUP WITH 3.0 ECODIESEL ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FOLLOWING THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL, DRIVABILITY HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY REDUCED AND HAS CREATED DANGEROUS THROTTLE LAG AND IMPROPER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTION. I WOULD SUMMARIZE THESE ISSUES AS TURBO LAG AND IMPROPER SHIFT MAPPING. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP THERE IS A 2-3 SECOND LAG BEFORE THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO MOVE EVEN IF THE THROTTLE IS FULLY DEPRESSED. IF YOU ARE EXECUTING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN INTO TRAFFIC OR CROSSING AN INTERSECTION THIS WILL LEAVE YOU EXPOSED TO A "T-BONE" COLLISION. AFTER THIS LAG IT WILL THEN ACCELERATE RAPIDLY AT FULL THROTTLE, MUCH FASTER THAN YOU ARE EXPECTING. IF YOU ARE EXECUTING A TURN THIS COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OR A WIDER TURN THAN DESIRED, POSSIBLY INTO ANOTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC OR OFF THE FAR SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS BEHAVIOR IS EVEN MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN RUN (COLD ENGINE). CLIMBING A MODERATE HILL SHORTLY AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY FORCES THE DRIVER TO MANUALLY DOWNSHIFT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO FIRST GEAR TO GET ANY FORWARD TRAVEL. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WILL RAPIDLY ACCELERATE AFTER THE 2-3 SECOND LAG. ONCE RETURNING TO "DRIVE" AT 15-25 MPH THE TRANSMISSION WILL UP-SHIFT SEVERAL GEARS AND THEN BEGIN SLOWING, DROPPING ENGINE RPM TO 1,000, AGAIN FORCING A MANUAL DOWN-SHIFT TO SECOND OR THIRD GEAR TO MAINTAIN SPEED. THE ENGINE PRODUCES ALMOST NO POWER UNTIL THE ENGINE REACHES 2000 RPM. ALL OF THIS BEHAVIOR BEGAN AFTER THE NOTED RECALL. DUE TO THE UPDATE, WHEN THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 160 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, THERE IS A 3-5 SECOND DELAY IN ACCELERATION. 0N 7/8/19, LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP FROM RECEIVING THE EPA REGULATED UPDATE, I HAD TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. NOT KNOWING WHAT THE AEM UPDATE HAD DONE TO MY VEHICLE, I PULLED OUT OF THE LOT AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE. MY VEHICLE ROLLED INTO 3 OF THE 6 LANES OF TRAFFIC. I HAD THE PEDDLE AS FAR AS IT WOULD GO AND DURING THAT 3-5 SECONDS, MY VEHICLE WAS SLUGGISHLY GOING 4 MPH. ONCE THAT 3-5 SECONDS PASSED, THE VEHICLE THEN ACCELERATED RAPIDLY AS IT SHOULD WITH THE PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR. ONCE THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GET OVER 160 DEGREES, THE DELAY DROPS FROM 3-5 SECONDS DOWN TO 1-3 SECONDS. I HAVE LEARNED TO NOT CHANCE ANYTHING PULLING IN TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THAT ONE DAY LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS LUCKY TO NOT HAVE BEEN INJURED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

BECAUSE THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE IS RELEASED IN THE SUMMER IT SHOULD TAKE LESS TIME TO WARM UP BUT LIVING IN MICHIGAN, THE TRUCK WILL TAKE A LOT LONGER TO WARM UP DURING THE WINTER MONTHS WHICH WILL A) NOT ALLOW ME TO DRIVE SAFELY THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ANY MORE AND B) FORCE OTHER DRIVERS TO HIT THEIR BRAKES DUE TO A LACK OF ACCELERATION MY TRUCK NOW HAS AND EITHER HIT ME OR HAVE THEM AVOID MY TRUCK CAUSING ACCIDENTS. THE LACK OF ACCELERATION OR "LAG" AS IT IS CALLED IS FOR ABOUT 2-4 SECONDS WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW THE TRUCK TO GAIN ANY SPEED WORTHY OF TRAVELING ONTO A ROAD WITH TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO "GET OUT OF IT'S OWN WAY" LIKE IT WAS BEFORE THE V08 WAS INSTALLED. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT ONCE THE TRUCK IS ABLE TO MOVE BECAUSE OF THE "LAG" GOING AWAY FINALLY THE ENGINE IS THEN OVER-REVVED AT AN UN-NORMAL RPM. THE ISSUE WITH THAT WILL BE IN THE WINTER TIME WHEN THERE IS ICE AND SNOW ON ROADS AND THE REAR WHEELS WILL SPIN ON THAT SLIPPERY SURFACE. THE MOST COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THIS LAG IS AFTER START UP AND STARTING TO DRIVE MY TRUCK ONTO ROADWAYS OR ACROSS INTERSECTIONS. THE SCARIEST MOMENT WAS WHEN I HAD A VERY REASONABLE AMOUNT OF SPACE TO PULL OUT ONTO A ROADWAY, MAKING A LEFT TURN, FROM A STOP AND A SEMI TRUCK CAUGHT UP TO ME FROM THE RIGHT AND I WAS FORCED TO GO TO THE MIDDLE TURN LANE INSTEAD OF A DRIVE-ABLE LANE TO AVOID THE TRUCK BECAUSE MY ACCELERATION PERFORMANCE HAD DIMINISHED TO NOTHING FOR THE 2-4 SECONDS MEANWHILE MORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC IS HEADED TOWARDS ME AS WELL. THE TRUCK SEEMS TO GO INTO TRAFFIC FINE, BUT WILL NOT SPEED UP REGARDLESS OF PEDAL POSITION.

IF I PULL INTO TRAFFIC TO MERGE OR CROSS AN INTERSECTION MY FEAR IS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY ENOUGH OR AVOID AN ACCIDENT SHOULD I NEED TO. THERE ARE TIMES WHERE IT HAS NO ACCELERATION AT ALL FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE A LONE TIME. PROBABLY 3-5 SECONDS BEFORE THE VEHICLE RESPONDS. I SPOKE WITH AN ORIGINAL ENGINEER ON THE TRUCK, THROUGH A FACEBOOK GROUP FOR THESE TRUCKS, WHICH HE STATES 2 WEEKS PRIOR WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK IN, THE EGR MUST HAVE STARTED MALFUNCTIONING, AND THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE BRUSHED ME OFF. WHICH LED TO IT STICKING OPEN, AND BLOWING A HOLE IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD (THE BURNING PLASTIC SMELL) WHEN I WAS DRIVING BACK TO SAFETY (IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE), A REGENERATION OCCURED CAUSING THE DPF TO FILL UP, AND ESSENTIALLY EXPLODE, AND CATCH THE TRUCK ON FIRE. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO LITHIA DODGE OF WASILLA I WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED (48,100 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT) BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT GET THE TRUCK IN FOR OVER A WEEK. AFTER THE DEALER LOOKED AT THE TRUCK THEY REPLACED THE R-REAR SPEED SENSOR AND SAID THAT WAS THE ISSUE. I WENT TO PICK UP THE TRUCK AND THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. I LEFT THE TRUCK AGAIN AT THE DEALER. THEY THEN INDICATED THE ISSUE WAS IN THE WIRING HARNESS. I TOOK THE TRUCK HOME TO INSPECT THE WIRING. I TESTED THE CONTINUITY OF THE CONDUCTORS THAT THE DEALER HAD INDICATED WERE THE ISSUE AND FOUND NO DEFECTS. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK AND EXPLAINED MY FINDINGS, THEY INDICATED THAT THE TECH HAD "GUESSED" THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE HARNESS. AFTER RETURNING TO GET MY TRUCK THE DEALER SAID IT WAS REPAIRED, THEY HAD PERFORMED UNAUTHORIZED WORK, CUT MY HARNESS AND SPLICED AS THEY SAID THAT WAS THE ISSUE, BUT THE ISSUE WAS NOT FIXED. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO ANOTHER LITHIA DEALER WHO INDICATED THE HARNESS WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR BY THE DEALER, YOU CANT SPLICE THE HARNESS(?) ACCORDING TO THE OTHER DEALER AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IN WHOLE. THEY COULD NOT WORK ON IT ANY MORE TO FIX THE ISSUE DUE TO THE HARNESS ISSUE CAUSED BY THE UNAUTHORIZED REPAIR PERFORMED BY THE OTHER LITHIA DEALER. TRUCK STILL HAS NO 4X4, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL OR CRUISE CONTROL. THIS FAILURECOULD BE A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND RESULT IN ACCIDENTS.

VEHICLE IS A 2015 RAM 1500 TRUCK WITH 8-SPEED TRANSMISSIONS AND "DIAL-A-GEAR" ELECTRONIC GEAR SELECTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A GAS STATION AND PULLED UP NEXT TO A GAS PUMP. DRIVER EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND REALIZED THAT THEY NEEDED TO PULL FORWARD ABOUT 2 MORE FEET TO BETTER ALIGN THE TRUCK WITH THE GAS PUMP. THE DRIVER GOT BACK INTO THE TRUCK, TURNED THE KNOB TO "DRIVE," AND PULLED FORWARD. ONCE THE TRUCK WAS STOPPED, THE DRIVER TURNED THE KNOB TO "PARK" AND EXITED THE TRUCK. AS THE DRIVER STEPPED OUT OF THE TRUCK IT BEGAN TO MOVE BACKWARDS, CAUSING THE DRIVER'S DOOR TO IMPACT THE POLE PROTECTING THE PUMPS, AND OVER-EXTENDING THE DOOR AND HINGES BEYOND NORMAL OPERATION. THE DRIVER QUICKLY JUMPED BACK INTO THE TRUCK AND STOPPED IT'S MOVEMENT, AND THEN VERIFIED THAT THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS SHOWING "PARK." THE DRIVER WAS UNINJURED, BUT THE INCIDENT RESULTED IN $2,200.00 OF DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK. SO ON 10/10/16 (ONE YEAR LATER), 25,000 MILES LATER, AND AFTER NUMEROUS TIMES IN/OUT OF THE SHOP, WHERE THE TECHS CLAIMED THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE IT OR SAID "THAT WAS THE WAY THE TRANSMISSION WORKED AND THAT THEY HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER DODGE RAM TRUCK DRIVERS ABOUT THE SAME THING, INCLUDING EMPLOYEES THAT OWNED THEM" THEY SAID THE DRIVESHAFT SLIP STICK WAS CAUSING THE CLUNKING, SO THEY REPLACED THE DRIVESHAFT OR PROPELLER SHAFT. THE CLUNKING AND JERKING STOPPED. FOUR MONTHS LATER ON 2/23/17 THE SAME STRONG JERKING STARTED AGAIN. TECHS CONTINUALLY STATED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE JERKING, BUT THE MINUTE I WOULD LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP IT WOULD JERK. I HAVE A DISABLED PLACARD AND FREQUENTLY PARK IN A DISABLED SPOT. I ATTEMPTED TO GET BACK INTO TRUCK TO APPLY BRAKE BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE TRUCK IMPACTED THE EXTERIOR OF MY GARAGE BETWEEN THE DOORS WITH MY SON INSIDE THE TRUCK. HE WAS SEAT BELTED AND UNINJURED, PHYSICALLY. UPON ENTERING THE TRUCK I OBSERVED THE GEAR SELECTOR TO BE IN PARK. I IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED INTO REVERSE BACKING UP APPROXIMATELY 15-20 FEET. I SHIFTED THE TRUCK INTO PARK AND AGAIN EXITED THE TRUCK TO SURVEY THE DAMAGE. THE TRUCK AGAIN BEGAN MOVING FORWARD AS IF IN DRIVE. I WAS ABLE TO APPLY THE BRAKE REACHING IN WITH MY HANDS TO DO SO. I AGAIN OBSERVED THE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN PARK. I SHUT THE IGNITION OFF AT THIS POINT. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THIS EVENT I ATTEMPTED TO REPLICATE IT IN MY DRIVEWAY APPROXIMATELY 20-30 TIMES, SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND LETTING MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. I WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT IN THESE ATTEMPTS. MY TRUCK SUSTAINED JUST OVER $3,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. I HAVE NOT AT THIS TIME GOTTEN AN ESTIMATE FOR THE DAMAGE TO MY HOME. AS I WAS WALKING TO THE REAR OF MY TRUCK, I OBSERVED THE TRUCK ROLLING BACKWARDS. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED AROUND AND BEGAN TO RUN BACK TO THE TRUCK. AS THE TRUCK WAS ROLLING, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAUGHT THE TIRE OF THE VEHICLE PARKED NEXT TO IT. AS I JUMP BACK IN THE TRUCK I CHECK THE SHIFT INDICATOR AND OBSERVED IT TO BE IN PARK WHILE ROLLING. THE BAGEL STORE EMPLOYEE SAW THIS ALL UNFOLD, YET THE POLICE DID NOT WANT HER AS A WITNESS. INSTEAD, THE POLICE TICKETED HER FOR CARELESS DRIVING. SHE WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME IT WENT INTO THE BUILDING YET STILL RECEIVED A TICKET. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A CAR DEALERSHIP IN MI. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN ROUTE, MY DAUGHTER CALLED CHRYSLER TO INFORM THEM OF THE ACCIDENT. SHE WAS TOLD TO MAKE SURE THAT NO ONE FROM THE DEALERSHIP TOUCHED THE TRUCK. CHRYSLER WANTED TO SEND IN THEIR PEOPLE TO INVESTIGATE. THE TRUCK SAT ON THE LOT FOR A WEEK. OF COURSE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG? IN THE MEANTIME I CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO SEE HOW MANY POINTS THIS TICKET WAS THAT WAS NOT WARRANTED. TOO MANY. SO I HIRED A LOCAL ATTORNEY TO FIGHT THE TICKET. I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE ATTORNEY AND A FINE. THIS LEADS TO THE TRUCK OVERHEATING VERY QUICKLY AT TIMES. POSSIBILITY OF COOLANT IN THE ENGINE BLACK AS WELL, THEY CANNOT PROVE OTHERWISE WHICH COULD LEAD TO CRACKED ENGINE BLOCKS. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR APPROX 75 DAYS AND THEY HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS PARTS WITH NO REMEDY TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUING TO COME ON. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN LIGHT ORIGINALLY CAME ON. IT'S NOW BEEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND I HAVE RESEARCHED AND DISCOVERED HUNDREDS OF OTHER CASES. THIS IS A FAULTY OIL COOLER IN 2014-2017 MODELS OF THE DODGE ECO DIESEL 1500 PICKUP. ACCIDENT #2 MARCH 12, 2016 LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND IT WAS RAINING. THE TRUCK THEN SKID, WENT OVER THE CURB AND HIT A LIGHT POST THAT FELL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DODGE RAM AND DAMAGED THE CAR HEAVILY. IF IT HAD FALLEN ON THE ROOF MY PASSENGERS AND I WOULD BE DEAD. POLICE REPORT AND FOUR WITNESSES. ELEVEN DAYS AFTER THE SECOND ACCIDENT, A RECALL FOR DODGE RAM 1500 MODEL YEARS 2015-2016 CAME OUT FOR STEERING. THE RECALL IS FOR THE IDENTICAL MALFUNCTIONING STEERING COMPONENT THAT CAUSED MY SECOND ACCIDENT. CALLED MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN # IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, WHICH MEANS FOR THEM THAT MY CAR WAS MADE AT A DIFFERENT FACILITY FROM THE RECALLS AND IS NOT OF CONCERN FOR THEM. THE TRUCK SUDDENLY WENT DEAD ELECTRONICALLY AND ENGINE-WISE AGAIN, IN THE GARAGE. AGAIN, THE TRUCK COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND AGAIN NOTHING WORKED. TRUCK HAS BEEN IN SHOP FROM 5/20/2015 THROUGH 6/19/2014; 3/20/2015 THROUGH 3/20/2015; 7/10/2015 THROUGH 7/17/2015; AND CURRENTLY IN SHOP 10/13/2015 THROUGH CURRENT DATE AND TIME. ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED AND IT IS LEAKING OIL FROM AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. SERVICE HAS STATED TO HAVE CHECKED EVERY POSSIBILITY SOURCE LOCATION FOR THE, ON AVERAGE 1.5 TO 2 QUARTS OIL, LOW RESULTING IN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND STILL AFTER ENGINE REPLACEMENT.

WHEN I WENT TO PICKUP THE TRUCK ON OCT 20TH THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON AND THE SERVICE MANAGER COULD NOT GET IT TO GO OFF -SO WE LEFT IT THERE. THIS WAS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP FIXED THE OIL IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM, WHICH WAS FOUND TO BE CAUSED BY A BROKEN OIL COOLANT PUMP. THE NEW WARNING MESSAGE THAT WAS SENT STATES "POWERTRAIN: PROLONGED DRIVING WITH THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT ON COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM. IF THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS FLASHING, SEVER CATALYTIC CONVERTER DAMAGE AND POWER LOSS WILL SOON OCCUR. HAVE YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED AT YOUR DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY."

2015 RAM 1500 SPORT 4X2 - WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 65 MPH, THE REAR END BEGINS TO VIBRATE/SHAKE TO THE POINT CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE BECOMES A CONCERN. IF YOU SLOW DOWN IT GOES AWAY BUT THEN COMES RIGHT BACK WHEN GOING 65 OR OVER AGAIN. VIBRATION IS FELT IN THE SEAT BUT NOT THE STEERING WHEEL OR PEDALS. WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP ON 9/11 AND TIRES WERE RE-BALANCED. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT FIXED THE ISSUE WHEN IT DID NOT. GOING BACK TO DEALERSHIP ON 9/28 TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY MANY AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES CONTROL OF THEIR RAM VEHICLE AND CRASHES. TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM THEY DID SO ON 8-28-2015 9950 MILES IT HAS MADE NO DIFFERENCE. I BROUGHT THIS TSB I FOUND HERE ON NHTSA ID NUMBER 10056977 SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 16-001-14 TO THIER ATTENTION THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT TSB I AM VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE AFTER SOME RESEARCH ON MY OWN IT SEEMS THERE ARE A GROWING NUMBER OF 2015 1500'S WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. IT IT NEEDS TO BE MOVED TO A RECALL BECAUSE IT COULD BE A HAZARD WAITING TO HAPPEN AND IT COULD BE CAUSING OTHER DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK. EXACTLY TWO MONTHS AFTER OWNING THE TRUCK ON JULY 28TH, THE SAME DAY I MADE MY SECOND PAYMENT, I WAS AT THE GARAGE AT WORK, LEFT THE TRUCK ON AND PUT IT IN PARK, GOT OUT OF THE CAR, CLOSED THE DOOR AND AS I WAS GETTING READY TO GO AROUND THE TRUCK TO GO INSIDE MY JOB, THE CAR STARTED TO BACK OUT BY ITSELF, I TRIED GETTING BACK INTO THE TRUCK TO STOP IT BUT UNFORTUNATELY, I FAILED, THE TRUCK ALMOST RAN ME OVER.
