The main ABS module has an internal electrical failure and shuts down. The failure affects the ABS, Traction Control, Trailer brake system and Cruise control to all be inoperable until replaced. The Module is unavailable from dealership with no known date of arrival.
I am writing to request urgent assistance regarding a serious safety and service issue with my 2015 Dodge Ram, which has only 45,000 original miles. I recently took the vehicle to an authorized Dodge dealership after multiple dashboard alerts appeared, including: ABS Light On, Brake Light On, “Service Trailer Light,” “Service Antilock Brake System”, Service Electronic Braking”, “Service Trailer Brake System” The dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty ABS Module. I was informed that the part would cost approximately $1,400, plus the cost of ordering the part, and that the part may take up to four (4) years or more to arrive—if it ever becomes available at all. I contacted multiple Dodge dealerships and received the same response regarding the extreme delay and unavailability of the ABS Module. I was also told that the vehicle is unsafe to drive in its current condition. This is especially concerning, as this is my only vehicle, and I cannot use it due to the safety risks. Despite this, Dodge customer service informed me that no assistance can be provided unless I first pay for and order the part, even though the part may not arrive for years. Additionally, the dealership is unwilling to buy back the vehicle at a reasonable price due to the unresolved ABS issue, leaving me without a safe, drivable vehicle and without support or alternatives. I have confirmed that there is no recall listed for this issue, yet the ABS Module is a critical safety component, and the lack of part availability for years is unacceptable for a loyal customer who has maintained the vehicle properly and driven it minimally. I am respectfully requesting that Dodge Corporate provide A clear explanation for the extreme parts delay, A prompt solution—such as expedited part sourcing, coverage or assistance with repairs, or a reasonable buyback/exchange option, Guidance on how Dodge intends to support customers facing major safety issues caused by unavailable parts.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? ABS Control Module (Part Number 68228991AD). Failure of this part prevents the ABS system, trailer brake, cruise control, and traction control from functioning properly. Part is currently installed into vehicle and is not available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car no longer has ABS, traction control, trailer brake, or cruise control. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. This is a know issue with 2014-2016 Ram 1500s. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. Following lights are on dashboard: Brake, Traction Control, ABS. OBD Code C2200 for internal module failure. Lights were first intermittent in the Summer of 2024. Came on permanently in early 2025. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION There is a design flaw in the ABS Module for these vehicles that causes them to malfunction. This issue affects thousands of Ram vehicles. The chip in the module that is defective is no longer being produced, and Stellantis is unable to provide replacement ABS modules at the rate they are needed. Thousands of these trucks are driving around with no ABS, T/C, etc or are sitting in shops waiting for a new module, as they will not pass state safety inspections. Stellantis will not acknowledge there is a design flaw with these modules, even though they have been listed as being under "Engineering Review" for multiple years. Due to the critical vehicle systems that are impacted, these ABS Modules must be recalled.
My 2015 ram ecodiesel is getting a brake light for ABS, traction control, emergency brake all not working. Dealership wants $4000 to fix it with a part that’s back ordered 2yr. I’m having a hard time understanding if so many people online are having this issue why it’s not a SAFETY RECALL. The stock part failed at no fault of the customers.
While driving at approximately 50 mph, my truck suddenly shut off without warning. I lost engine power, power brakes, and power steering. I was only able to stop safely because I happened to be traveling uphill. This created a serious safety hazard. The failure was caused by the crankshaft tone ring issue addressed in the existing recall. The tone ring has already been replaced, but the recall requires a dealer-performed ECM software update to complete the repair and ensure the vehicle is safe to operate. The dealership is refusing to perform the recall software update because my truck has an aftermarket exhaust and a modified EGR valve. These modifications are unrelated to the recall. The recall only involves an ECM software update, and my ECM is completely stock. Because of this refusal, I cannot safely drive my truck. I am concerned that the engine may shut off again at higher speeds, creating a severe risk of an accident. I am requesting assistance to ensure the recall is completed so the vehicle can be operated safely.
FAILURE IN ABS CONTROL MODULE. NO NEW REPLACEMENTS AVAILABLE AND NO AFTERMARKET PARTS AVAILABLE. HAVE BEEN UNDER ENGINEERING REVIEW DUE TO COMPONENT FAILURE WITH NO RECALLS ISSUED. IT CONTROL MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. IT ALSO DISABLES MY 4WD AND TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, NO ETA ON A POSSIBLE RETURN OF STOCK. I AM PULLING CODE C2200-49 WHICH INDICATES AN INTERNAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF THE COMPONENT. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR ALMOST 2 1/2 YEARS.
Ram trucks have a known problem with the ABS module. When this system fails the truck loses it traction control. It has been known for years, but Ram truck continually states it's under engineering review. Per the dealer in Jacksonville, FL., there is no solution and no parts to fix this issue. My truck only has 61,000 miles and I've lost my ABS, traction control, cruise control, and 4-wheel drive.
The Antilock Brake Module (part # 68228991AD) and Antilock Brake Hydraulic Pump (part # 68196033AA) have failed for no apparent reason. The dealer states there's a national backorder for the module with no delivery date noted. The module controls the anti lock braking system, traction control, and cruise control, which are all safety concerns. The module cannot work without the associated pump. This problem has been confirmed by two dealerships and an independent service center. There were no warnings prior to the failure, which occurred on 10/18/25. The cost of the pump is $1290 from the dealership, which is outrageous. There are remanufactured modules and pumps out there, but they are outrageously priced. I'm thinking about going the remanufactured route to address the safety concerns this causses though.
I have been waiting for brake and traction control components since April 2025, from the Chysler corporation. Latest e-mail states maybe parts in November. I have received these notifications since i initiated a complaint in September. Reply I receive: " Raw material/component supply shortage with supplier." This truck is not safe to drive, it is currently parked at the dealership waiting for parts.
ABS module failure. Indicator lamps for ABS, Traction control, and Brakes are all lit. Getting wheel spin and loss of traction on wet roads. My truck is currently at Thomas Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Highland, 9604 Indianapolis Blvd, Highland, IN 46322. Service Advisor Noah, has advised me that Mopar part number: 68228991AD (ABS Control Module for Ram 1500) has failed and is not available. Upon doing my own research, it turns out the part is manufacturer discontinued and has very limited availability as refurbished or used.
The ABS went out on my truck 3 years ago and Ram/Mopar quit making the part. I am stuck with a $50,000 rock because their part has first been on back order and now no longer manufactured. My truck was 7 years old when this started. I cannot afford to go buy a new truck! I could find a used one and maybe get it flashed but people are charging $800 for a used part and no guarantee that it can be flashed to work in my truck, because Ram decided to make everything proprietary. I really don’t trust the rebuilt ones from China. This is a really bad situation and really should be illegal. I have read online many people that are having the same issue as myself. Thank you for your attention to this matter. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Anti-lock brake module faulty - shorted out. Recall on newer modules but not older ones
Internal Failure with the (ABS) System Module / (EBCM) Electric Brake Control Module.
I am filing this complaint regarding a serious and ongoing safety defect in my 2015 Ram 1500 involving the failure of the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module (Part No. 68228991AD). This failure completely disables the ABS, significantly reducing the vehicle’s braking performance and increasing the risk of loss of control or collision during emergency braking situations. This is a well-documented and widespread issue among Ram 1500 owners. Chrysler has discontinued the manufacture and supply of the affected ABS module, leaving owners without a viable means to restore this critical safety system. I have been placed on a waiting list for over two years for a replacement part, yet I have been informed repeatedly that there is no assurance one will ever become available. The dealership has even advised me to “buy a new truck” if I wish to have properly functioning anti-lock brakes. This situation is not only unreasonable—it is dangerous. The lack of a functioning ABS system places my family, my passengers, and others on the road at significant risk. The inability to obtain a replacement for a vital safety component effectively renders the vehicle unsafe for operation. I am aware that Ram recently issued a recall affecting approximately 1.5 million trucks for the same ABS defect. However, my model year has been excluded, despite exhibiting the identical failure. This selective recall leaves hundreds of affected consumers without recourse or protection. I respectfully request that Chrysler and the relevant regulatory authorities investigate this matter, extend the existing recall to include the 2015 Ram 1500, and compel the manufacturer to resume production and distribution of the necessary replacement parts to remedy this critical safety defect.
The ABS module has an "internal electrical fault" rendering the ABS and traction control on my Ram 1500 inoperable. The replacement part 68228991AD has been on back order and therefore unrepairable at the dealer for over a year and a half making my truck unsafe and Chrysler hasn't done anything to make the parts more available.
I am experiencing ABS issues on my truck. After visiting a local auto parts store to get an OBD scan, the code says it’s a bad ABS module. I called the dealership to share this information and they confirmed the code from the auto parts store is a bad ABS module. They said “oh no, you got that code huh? You’re not the only one.” The reason for my visit was because three lights were illuminated on my dash. The ABS light, the traction control light, and the BRAKE (trailer brake) light. The messages on the dash display say to service the ABS system, service the electronic braking system, and service the trailer brake system. From my research, I have discovered that many people are experiencing this same issue on similar vehicles . So much in fact that the parts for repair are unavailable at the dealership and online warehouses. The cruise control is disabled while experiencing this issue and braking performance is affected while driving. I’m afraid that my brakes will lock up on me in a hard stop event and lead to an incident.
For my truck a 2015 Ram 1500 there is a known issue where the ABS module fails and won't allow the driver to use ABS. It's ubiquitous and Chrysler isn't manufacturing or supplying the ABS module anymore. I was told by the Dealer that I should "just buy a new truck" if I want anti-lock breaks. I have children, this is unacceptable. I'm on a wait list for the part now for over 2 years and I'm told that I may or may not actually ever get the part indicating, again, that I should buy a new one for safe braking. Apparently I am one of 100's of people on a list and Ram just recalled 1.5 million trucks with the same issue but not my year range of truck.... Part no: 68228991ad
Abs control module failed. No cruise control, anti lock brakes, trailer brake function or traction control.
The ABS module has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced. It has been months and the dealership/chrysler is unable to provide parts for the repair.
Failed ABS Module
The issue started with ABS, Brake, and Traction Control lights coming on intermittently. Leventually they stayed on all the time. Cruise Control is disabled while these lights are on and the ABS system is obviously not working. The dealership stated that it was the ABS control module and states that the part is discontinued and they advised that they didn't have any more parts in stock in addition to quoting around 3k if they could find one at any other locations. All fuses are working properly. And all codes that are pulled indicate ABS system faults.
ABS module is discontinued and no recall has been made to remedy the issue.
2015 Ram 1500 Laramie, 2x4, 5.7L, 60693K miles. The ABS, Traction Control, Trailer Breaking lights are on and off since roughly 51K miles also impacting Adaptive Cruise Control making them all inoperable, even though the truck is still able to be drive, albeit unsafely. I took it to my local repair shop and O'Reilly parts and was told the ABS Controle Module, part number 68228991AD was identified as bad (C2200-49 and in need of replacing at approximately $2000 and that the part is on indefinite backorder. I tried to locate the part on my own and there is in fact a nationwide backorder. After further investigation, I found multiple owners on Ram forums either having or have had the same problems. On one parts website, I found this message regarding the part: PART ON HOLD UNTIL ENGINEERING REVIEW IS COMPLETE, EXP - MAR 20TH, 2025.
ABS Control Module which is under engineering review thru stellantis and unavailable for the last 2+ years, it affects the abs, trailer brake control and cruise control. It was diagnosed by marlette chrysler jeep dodge in michigan. It started by randomly applying brakes on a curve at slow speeds then according to the dealer completely failed causing cruise control failure, trailer brake control failure and obviously abs function. It was a sudden onset that lead to complete failure from first symptoms to complete failure within 2 days. I realize there is a certain recall on rams for the abs but from reading online the majority of us dont qualify for that recall even tho our vehicles are being affected by it and this needs to be addressed.
I had a check engine light come on for the ABS and Traction Control. Did research and found Ram no longer manufactures the ABS Module. Now my truck is no longer safe to drive with no avenue to repair.
ABS system alarms appeared June 2023, dealership says it is abs controller and needs to be replaced. There were none available. I have checked back periodically for last two years and they still have no clue when they will have parts available. The dealer has told me to continue driving the truck.
I have a 2015 Ram 1500, the ABS module was diagnosed in June 2024 as needing to be replaced by a Dodge dealership. With this issue, my ABS does not work, and the traction control has been disabled by this issue also. At this time, the part is still unavailable for ordering. There is a recall on newer models of this vehicle that are having the same issue.
The ABS, Traction Control, Trailer Breaking lights are on also impacting Adaptive Cruise Control making them all inoperable, even though the truck is still able to be drive, albeit unsafely. I took it to my local dealership and was told the ABS Control Module, part number 68228991AD was identified as bad and in need of replacing at approximately $2000 and that the part is on indefinite backorder. I've been on the "waiting list" for roughly 8 months. This is not just an issue with 2014-2015 Ram trucks, but extends to other Ram model years using the same part number.
ABS Control Module Fault, due to this the electronic breaking, traction control, cruise control and Anti-Lock Brake system is in fault. with this fault there is a possibility for the braking system to fully fail when operation the vehicle, along with a higher chance to lose control if a need for the traction control comes up. The vehicle has been looked at and was informed that the only part that needs to be changed out is the Control Module. The part needed are not available at any non-dealership location and all dealerships that have been contacted have the part on back order for months with said parts already waiting to go into a vehicle. I have been searching for the part needed since June 2024. This effects the 2014-2016 models of the Ram 1500.
ABS Module failure. No replacement part offered by RAM
ABS system went out 3 years ago. The truck was still drivable and used extreme caution when doing so. This morning the power steering went out which is directly related to the ABS system. I noticed that a recall was issued for 2017 and beyond models of the Ram, but why not 2015. My truck has less than 100,000 miles and is now completely undriveable because the ABS cant be fixed.
2015 ram 1500 truck the abs module failed , the truck will put itself in park and it has to be towed to a safe place, the truck has been taken to a dealer and they have no parts to fix it with, the warning lights did come on but by that time the truck was not drivable , it has been almost 6 months and the parts number 68228991ad is under engineer review and they are not making the part . there are 1.2 million trucks that need parts ,a recall is on some vin numbers but not all thanks.
My vehicle has a malfunction ABS module and is causing error codes. The OEM Mopar part 68228991AD has been discontinued for years. Getting a replacement has become impossible. I have called the company and they said they are looking into the issue. This has been going on for a very long time. Mopar needs to either sell the item, or issue a recall, if the item is faulty. My ABS is a risk and cause an accident in bad weather. PLEASE HELP ME GET MY REPLACEMENT PART so I can safely drive my truck.
In August 2024, the ABS Module on my 2015 RAM 1500 failed - the ABS and Brake lights are on full time. I have new brakes so the vehicle is safe to drive, but with the ABS module out, the cruise control does not work either. A new ABS module is impossible to find - dealers or independent shops cannot get one. Apparently, the part is on engineering hold. Reading various forums, this is a common and known Dodge failure with no foreseeable resolution. There are recalls and class action lawsuits, but not for my year / model. I can't get it fixed, I can't sell it with a known failed system and there is no timeline to resolve the problem. Not to mention the decreased safety with the ABS inoperative. This is completely unsatisfactory.
Truck dashboard is showing warning/hazard lamps for Automatic Braking (ABS), Emergency Breaking, and trailer breaking. The cruise control is also not working. Error code C2200 is registered. I've taken it to a RAM dealer and Firestone. Both say that the ABS module (68228991AB) needs to be replaced, but parts are not available. This problem was initially identified May 2024. I call every month to see if the part are available and they say to call back next month. RAM Trucks (aka Stellantis) instructed all dealers and parts suppliers to return all new versions of the part.
Received Service ABS System/Service Electronic Braking System indication on HUDS. Brake System OBD-II Reader shows ABS Module Failure. Consulted local dealership and pre-purchased the replacement part in Nov 2024. To date (Feb 19th, 2025) the parts expected delivery date has been moved out one month at a time for the last 4 months. This part failure causes the braking system to operate in a conventional manner, meaning that when the brakes are applied, they actuate at all 4 wheels simultaneously. This results in loss of handling in wet conditions. Several instances I have had to apply the brakes in an emergency during wet road conditions and narrowly escaped collision with other motor vehicles. Additionally, Louisiana state inspection requirements state that the vehicle MUST pass safety inspection to be allowed on the road. With this failure of a critical safety system, I have been unable to operate my vehicle safely and legally on Louisiana roadways.
warning light on dash said abs needs service. it is available for inspection. antilock brake system inoperative. problem has been confirmed by dealer. dealer states the parts are on back order and dont know when parts will be available.
1. The ABS brake module has failed. We have gone into the dealership twice over the past year and a half and they have said they will order the parts and call us back and we have never received a call. When I called to try to get it resolved the parts department at the dealership says there is an Engineering hold note on the parts that has been there for over a year with no other details. This part is on recall for Dodge Rams from 2017-2024, but not for 2015 makes. 2. Our safety is put at risk as there is no functioning ABS break system when driving on the highway. 3. The problem has been confirmed by our local Dodge dealership and several 3rd party mechanics (Brakes Plus and an independent mechanic). 4. The ABS warning lights and brake lights are always on and will not shut off as a result.
My truck has internal ABS failure. 2015 Ram 1500. With the malfunction I lose power brakes, cruise control, traction control and all other ABS functions. There is a recall for other year trucks but not 2015 and they have the same exact issue. All of those lights light up on the dash upon start up.
The ABS light came on and we were told we’d have to replace that part and learned there was a recall so the part is on back order. Although the year of our truck is 2015 I believe this relates to the recall for the other ram trucks considering it’s the same problem.
In August of 2024 I began receiving an error message in my vehicle stating "Service Electronic Breaking System" on the gauge cluster. I also noticed the dash lights indicating that the ABS and traction control were disabled. The vehicle remained in this state whenever the vehicle was running. While i was returning home from work i hit the breaks on the freeway and the breaks locked up and i began to slide due to the ABS not functioning properly. Thankfully there was no accident but obviously this is extremely unsafe and the vehicle cannot be driven in this condition. I made an appointment on August 26,2024 to have the vehicle inspected and serviced at the dealership where i purchased the vehicle. After some correspondence the service rep indicated that there were other vehicles in for service for the same issue. It is now 28 Jan 2025 as of the date of this submission and my vehicle has still been able to be repaired. After numerous inquires with the service department i was informed that the module in question was under Engineer Review at the manufacturer and they could not ship the part until that was complete. The ETA of completion has been pushed back several times ,everytime i enquire for an update and is currently projected at 19 February, I have also opened an inquiry with the manufacturer Ram Customer Care / Stellantis case for assistance and havent received much in the way of additional information or assistance.
The truck has 59,005 miles on it. Driving down the road the following alerts displayed: Service Antilock Brake System Service Electronic Brake System Service Trailer Brake System The truck is available for inspect. There were no symptoms prior to this event but has continually displays these warnings since the first time of displaying in October 2024. I have another car so I parked the truck and start it periodically but do not drive it. I was near home and able to drive there without incident. When I start the truck it immediately display the warnings. I am hesitant to drive it to an independent service center cause I don't know if the brake system will completely fail. In researching the warnings I found this to be a common issue with these trucks and found an NTSA recall for the same warnings for the truck but for different years.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH, the ETC warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. The ETC light disappeared and then the check engine warning light, ABS, and ETC warning lights illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

I have my traction control light show up on the dash. Took my truck to a mechanic thinking it might be my ABS Sensors. The code came up showing I am in need of the ABS Control Module. This seems to have been recalled on many of the Ram trucks as recent as September 2024. Also doing a lot of research, this seems to have been an ongoing problem for Ram trucks 2014-2016. The dealerships currently do not have the replacement part # 68228991AD which will replace the original 68228991AA, AB, and AC. It is apparently in engineering review. With the snow my location just had, I can tell you I have lost traction on the road. I have also lost traction and had hard braking on dry pavement within the past few weeks which is why I took the truck to the mechanic and learned of the ABS Control Module needing replaced. This should be recalled on all of the Ram trucks not just the 2019, 2021-2024.
On [XXX] numerous brake system warning dash lamps came on on your truck. I also noticed that once this happened the cruise control no longer works. The local RAM dealer could not inspect my truck for several days so I had an independent service center test it and he confirmed the anti-lock brake module had stopped working. I believe he also noted that error code(s) were detected. yes, it can be inspected. I drive the truck but do so without the use of the anti-lock brake system. Yes, the problem has been reproduced, and l've visited my local dealer and discussed the situation with them and they confirm that this has been an ongoing problem for over 2 years. Warning lamps only came on as soon as the problem started, though at the time I did not notice a problem as I did not have to slam on my breaks and make use of the anti-lock/anti-skid function. The service center and dealer both confirmed that the malfunctioning cruise control was definitely part of the module failure. Part # 68228991-AD (replaced part # 68228991-AB. Service Antilock Brake System and Service Electronic Braking System warning lights keep coming on. Truck intermittently tries to stop.
Vehicle is flashing service electronic braking system/Traction controland break light flashing. Seem the issue is related to other year models with the HCU/brake motor recalls that have been issued. I'm looking at having to spend over $3k just to have the unit replaced at a dealership. I don't feel safe while driving my truck as the other day when in the rain it started driving crazy when I lost traction on wet pavement uphill. The truck started trying to auto correct because of the traction issues was throwing me from side to side on the road. I believe this to be a bigger problem with FCA vehicles than they are reporting. With the issue being identified as a manufacturer part and the majority of the parts being almost identical in design it seems they should recall more year models. Along with that the replacement is not all that different in design either. The brushes in the motor are sticking resulting in the motor not functioning properly. So now I'm stuck not feeling comfortable with any of the fixes even if the offered them to my year model if they are using the same motor design.
ABS modules become defective and give errors. Mopar Part number 68228991AD has been discontinued with no new part number. This module affect stopping in icy and wet conditions. This is critical to the safety of the driver. Mopar needs to make an ABS module!!!
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while coming to a stop, the brake pedal was depressed due to the vehicle in front abruptly stopping with the ABS warning light illuminated. On several occasions, the brake pedal felt abnormal when depressed. On another occasion, the contact stated that the vehicle accelerated up to 30 MPH which caused the contact to rear-end another vehicle. The air bag did not deploy. No injuries were sustained, and no medical attention was provided. A Police report was filed with the Florida Highway Patrol and the report number was not provided to the contact. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ABS module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the contact was informed that no after-market parts were available. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall related to the brake booster failure however the part was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 188,635.

About a year ago my vehicles auto traction , brake light and abs light illuminated. The warning that my vehicle gives when I turn it on and start is braking system needs serviced and electrical breaking system needs serviced. The code that shows in diagnosis is abs brake module needs replaced. My brakes have not been right. The part has been back ordered for over a year. There are no parts and my dealer and Ram answer is it’s under engineering review till January 15. The dealership answer is get one from the junk yard which they’re aren’t any. I wouldn’t feel confident driving my grand babies with used brake parts. I was in an accident today because of brake failure and thankfully I didn’t hurt anyone in the car in front of me.
Approximately 1.5 years ago my 2015 Ram 1500 Antilock Brake light came on along with the messages service trailer brake system, service antilock brake system, and service electronic brake system. I have taken it to different dealers and auto mechanics to have it fixed only to be told that parts are no longer available. I was told by service department at dealer that I needed an ABS Module. I have checked with dealers for current availability of the parts numerous times since diagnosis only to be told that the part was still not available and that they did not have any idea when it would be available. I have been researching this problem and found this to be a common problem with Ram pickups. I have also found where a recall has been activated for 2019-2021 ram trucks with the same problem. This to me is a real safety issue that should be addressed and a recall activated for this and other older models with the same issue, as I have had a couple of incidents where I have had to apply heavy pressure to brakes to stop my vehicle only to have the brakes lock up causing me to nearly lose control of my vehicle. If this is not addressed, I feel that the issue could result in accidents, injury, or worse loss of life could occur. Thank you for your time. ABS Control module fault No cruise control No traction control Service trailer brakes control Multiple dash warning lights on No fault code
ABS control module under engineering review Part not available, manufacturer has not supplied replacement part for 2 + years. Tens of Thousands of failures, some repeat failures and dealer will not replace with used part. Dealer will not cover cost to replace part which is unavailable. $1500.00 - $2000.00 cost to replace part knowing all new parts are faulty.
ABS control module and pump failed no replacement available waiting now for 1 year for parts this is a problem with a large amount of ram trucks. Need assistance from this agency
ABS, traction control and BRAKE lights on continuously, took to shop to run diagnostic and was told the problem relates to the actuator leaking into the module which now both need to be replaced. Chrysler dealer states parts are "on back order" and have been for over 6 months due to"re-engineering" issues. Talked to several other Ram owners with same problem to hear they understand Stelantis has no intention of re-engineering due to cost and possible recall responsibility. This is a real safety issue, why has a recall not been initialized?
The ABS, traction control and emergency brake light all turned came up on the dashboard. I believe a past recall May 16, 2018 was of a wiring issue effecting the cruise control. Since all three lights have came on, the cruise control feature is not available for use. This is a concern within the Ram community and needs to be addressed.
Antilock Brake System module has failed, causing the light on the dashboard, along with the traction control light, to stay on. This covers up any braking issues, as I am forced to drive with this light on; as Ram is not selling the ABS module, saying they are under "Engineering evaluation". The problem with my truck cannot be fixed at this time & I am forced to drive an unsafe vehicle. Reported to Ram, but no action taken to recall.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the steering wheel independently veered to the left direction. The brake warning light illuminated. The warning message "Anti-lock brake system service required" was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that there was an unusual burning odor from the exterior and saw an unusual vapor coming from the front driver-side tire. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the front driver-side rotor, caliber, brake pad, and brake hose were replaced. The contact stated that 2 weeks later the passenger side rotor, caliber, brake pad, and brake hose were replaced by another local dealer to balance the other repairs however the failure reoccurred. The first local dealer was contacted however, the contact was advised that the parts needed for the repair were on backorder. The contact reached out to the second unknown local dealer for a second opinion and they advised the contact that the part was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

ABS Modular is malfunctioning and recommended to be replaced. I have been waiting 1.5 years for this part and continue to be told it’s not available. My check engine light continues to be on and my car does not function as it should. The part is identified as needing to be fixed but no parts available. I’ve called multiple states and made over 100 calls over the year. I am stuck with a car not functioning correctly and told by RAM that I just need to wait. Thousands of people are waiting for this part I am told and other years have been recalled but not my year somehow. This is dangerous and my hands are tied. I am putting my family in danger daily driving or am out 20+k on a vehicle I can’t drive. This is ridiculous and not a decision I thought I’d have to make with a well known company like Ram.
ABS Module failed triggering BRAKE light service and ABS Service light, and the ESB light. 6 month + and counting to get this OEM module. Why are you not addressing the supply chain issue......
Service ABS Brake, Service Electronic Brake Throttle, Service Electronic Trailer Brake & Standard Brake dash lights are illuminated at all times. I have no Anti Lock Braking & Sway /Stability Control Light is on and I have No Stability nor anti sway control. This disrupts the Cruise Control from working. It has been confirmed by a local trusted mechanic shop. The Warning Lights have been on since June 2024. This is dangerous especially in rain and wet conditions. The truck has no traction control and fish tails at the slightest turn during acceleration.
Because ofBad abs module not connecting to camper trailer brakes causes a very dangerous condition.
ABS Control Module failed and manufacture has not had a replacement available for at least a year and a half, they were supposed to be available March 2024 and that date has been pushed back every month. No one makes an aftermarket module either. Not having ABS on a Truck in Florida is very dangerous.
ABS, Brake, and traction light came on. Took my vehicle to dealership for diagnostic. The dealership stated it was caused by internal failure to ABS module and HCU. Parts are not available for repair due to parts engineering approval. This is a safety issue were the brakes could fail. Manufacturers should be responsible for repairs and recall vehicles for safety issues. How can the dealership say ABS is unavailable to order.
ON [XXX], I brought my truck to the dealer because the ABS light and traction control light were staying on. The dealer hooked it up to their diagnostic machine and it said the vehicle a Failed ABS Control Module. The dealer said that part was not available to April of 2024. I went back in April to the Dealer, Part still not Available! I called Ram Corporate and they said the part was in engineering. Today (August 22,2024) Ram Corporate called and said the part is at the dealer. (11months of waiting). I asked why wasn't there a recall on this item? i was very disappointed in the Ram Corporation. I felt like they should of covered the cost for this item. So now I'm writing this message to see if anyone else has this same issue, thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Took my 2015 ram to the dealer because of ABS, TRACTION and BREAK light was on the dash. They said my ABS CONTROL MODUAL was bad and needs to be replace. Part is back order and can't find the part no ware!!!!!!! WHEN WILL THE PART BE AVAILABLE?
ABS control module internal failure. Can't get a replacement park because this is such a problem. Local dealership says they have a list of over 100 customers who need this part. And it's a nation wide issue.
My truck, like those of numerous other Ram owners, has a malfunctioning ABS Control Module. Because of this malfunction, the ABS and cruise control do not work. In turn, this places me and other owners of this vehicle in an unsafe situation in that lack of an operating ABS system is conducive to skidding and accidents. Some owners have even reported that they cannot drive their vehicles due to locked brakes which resulted from this malfunction. I have a standing Brake , ABS , Anti Skid light and no Cruise control. All symptoms of a failed ABS Module. New Repair parts are not available from the Dealers or other Repair shops. Many trucks and drivers are at risk especially in winter weather or rain slick roads.
Unknown. ABS not working. Cruise control not working.
Back in September 2023 my brake light and ABS light came on in my 2015 RAM 1500. I took it into the dealership where purchase the Truck and had purchased a extended warrantee from the manufacture at that time of purchase. They told me that I needed a new ABS module but they were on back order. They have given many date where they were suppose to have them back in stock and all have come and gone. Since September 2023 I have checked with them and the date keep moving all the while my cruise control do not work. This is an issue, can you please help?
Abs module failure. No cruise control ,abs , trailer brakes, traction control. Parts in engineering review for over a year now. Call each month only to be told next month.
Vehicle is repeatedly setting C2200-49 code for a failed ABS module. The ABS and Brake lights are being set. This is a known with this era of Ram pick up trucks.
In June of 2023 my ABS module went out part #68228991AD was told part was on back order till September 2023, this has continued so that as of this date I'm being told that expected part availability is April 2024. This part is a crucial Saftey part for the use of this vehicle. Beyond the lack of ABS breaking or traction control, the vehicle has lost cruise control, & brake control on a hill.
See attached document for complaint
Abs module has stopped communicating with computer . No brakes issue on thousands of these trucks
Abs, traction and brake light all came on on dash. Part number 68228991AD needs to be set under a recall part as a safety concern.
ABS, Traction Control, and cruise control not functioning due to failed ABS module. The part # is 68228991AD and they have been on back order for over a year according to my local dealer where I purchased the vehicle; and with no ETA available on when one will become available.
I am having an issue with my 2015 dodge ram 77000 miles. I get two messages, SERVICE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM and SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM, AND THE BRAKE LIGHT IS ON , ABS LIGHT AND TRACKING LIGHT. AFTENR READING ALL THE COMMENTS I REALLY DONT HAVE MONEY TO KEEP SPENDING ON REPAIRS AND THE ISSUSE JUST COMES BACK. I DON'T DRIVE OVER 50 MILES BECAUSE I AM AFRAID OF THE DANGER OF THE BRAKES.
COMPLAINT/INCIDENT.On February 9th 2024, I was making a right hand turn onto main Street. My speed was under 10mph, closer to 5mph. . Without any warning or MIL, my truck suddenly went from easy steering to unable to move the steering column and jerked/locked the wheel by 90 degrees to the left. In other words, the steering wheel went from the 3:00 position and locked into place at the 12:00 position at the apex of the right turn. This put me on a path to driving into a 2story brick building. I was unable to accelerate and I was unable brake momentarily. The engine sputtered a few times; and that is when the MIL lit up on my dashboard stating “electronic power steering service” and “low battery voltage”. After the lights came on, the steering was brought back to normal along with the acceleration and my brakes. After the MIL displayed, steering resumed enough to pull into a parking spot. All of this occurred within 80ft from the apex of the corner to where the truck finally locked up. Total distance traveled 195 ft from start of turn to parked. The steering column and wheel completely locked up once in parking spot. I weigh about 230 lb and I could literally hang off the wheel without the wheel moving an inch.. At home, the power to the truck did not turn off like it normally would after 30 secs. The manual neutral transmission switch was pulled, which normally does not interfere with shutdown. After disengaging the truck powered off. However, I was unable to restart and only a clicking noise was heard. A battery booster jumpstarted successfully. No MIL on dash on startup. Surprisingly, the steering came back to normal. PART NUMBERS. The EPS numbers on the outside casing are P68242957AD and TIC2794A8134. Neither of these numbers have been listed in any of the documentation provided by the NHTSA on the power steering recall nor the reopened investigation.
ABS control unit and ABS pump failure, repaired and more failures. Repair is to keep buying new expensive parts that will fail again. This ABS system is poorly designed or the feedback control component is poorly designed. It doesn't work properly, repairing it is not answer, parts are back ordered for months or years AND IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE, HIGH SPEED SAFETY, WHERE PEOPLE DIE DUE TO NOT EMERGENCY STOPPING CORRECTLY. GET ON IT. HOW MANY FAILURES DO YOU NEED TO SEE?
Total ABS system failure at about 58k miles. Dash lights came on and chimes ringing. Took it in to the dealer for service, replaced ABS module and HCU. I drove for a week and problem came up again. Dealer said that ABS module was bad but HCU was good. Truck has been sitting at dealer since June 2023. They said that no parts are available across the U.S. and that Chrysler is reengineering ABS module. Parts weren't going to be available until March 2024, now it's April 2024.
The antilock brake electronic control module failed resulting in loss of antilock brake system, traction control and cruise control. The loss of antilock brakes caused a near miss.
ABS and Traction warning lights come on when driving. ABS system no longer working. Problem was confirmed by independent service center as well as Ram dealership with DTCC2200-49 and U0415-00 error codes. Dealer asking $2697.80 to repair.
I own a 2015 Ram 1500 earlier this year I got a message on the vehicle indicating to service electronic braking system. The ABS light along with the Traction Control light and the Brake light came on at the same time. I took the vehicle to a mechanic to have it checked out. He indicated that the electronic braking module had failed and that it needed to be replaced. The part is not available anywhere. I have contacted dealers in different states as well as other Ram parts stores and it is not available. I have been trying to get this part for over 7 months. According to the mechanic the vehicle's ABS function will not work without this part nor the traction control either. Brakes work like the days of old pre ABS. When I contacted Ram they told me to have the dealer order the part and they could expedite it but the dealers tell me they can't order the part since it shows under engineering review and shows in their system the part will not be available until March 2024. How is it possible that a U.S. automobile manufacturer can not have a vital safety part unavailable for over a year. It is obvious that the part is faulty since it isn't available and there are numerous posts online from other Dodge, Ram and Chrysler owners that have had to replace this part. The part number my specific model is 68228991AD. It is my understanding that this same part is also used in Chrysler, Dodge, RAM, and Jeep models.
The ABS control module has failed over a year ago and factory replacement parts are unavailable. Mopar dealers advise they are on backorder with no expected delivery date. The failure of this unit disables the Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control and Electronic Speed Control.
Vehicle has displayed error code C0020. Also dashboard display has showed Service Electrical Brake System and ABS failure. This has appeared since 2020. Parts to replacement the failed unit were not available till Jan. 2023. FCA has known of this issue has they released a Star Online Publication Case:#S2005000004, release date: 04/28/2020. This is issue that has been on going has online web forums, and individuals have express frustation with the manufacturer failing to acknowledge a safety problem. Have not had it service has the is around $1,000.00 and believe that FCA should address this has a safety issue and issue a vehicle recall.
...The component that failed is the ABS and traction system, the hitch brake system and the cruise control also stopped working, all this abs and traction system when it stops working can cause the vehicle to not move have correct performance in its braking and skidding system, which can be dangerous, especially in severe rainy and humid climates. I took the car for inspection to the dealer in naplenton in kisiimmee fl and the diagnosis so far is that it has damage to the abs module and the abs pump, which must be replaced and whose price for parts and labor is around 1615 $ with a tendency to increase according to the dealer, so far I only have the diagnosis and quote of the arrangement, since the parts take around 7 days to be available. Yesterday I contacted the FCA inquiring about the warranties of the car on these parts and about an extended warranty that they had offered me in the past tense due to other damages that I had previously in the vehicle with other parts, I did not get a response from FCA about that warranty and The dealer tells me that I do not have any warranties to cover this repair, so I will have to put it out of my pocket. It should be noted that my truck is from 2015 and it is a work vehicle and it only has 54,000 thousand miles, that is, it is a truck that has been given the use and exploitation for which it is designed .... thank you very much
Went to go start the truck one morning and when I got in the truck as soon as I exceeded over 7 MPH it says to service the ABS system and the trailer brake system. I turned off the truck and started it again and it said the system was reporting fine. As soon as I went over 7 MPH again it said to service the abs again. I feel this may be a safety issue because it’s a component that’s needed for every vehicle like mines in the event I need to brake hard to avoid an accident. I can’t have the system say there’s an issue and say it’s ok the next time I start the vehicle.
The abs module is throwing lights which then of course disables my cruise control. Also with no antilock brakes it definitely puts not only myself but others at risk in the case I have to stop quickly or on lwet/slick roads. We have had it to a shop and have a quoted price of 2500 to fix. I had no problems whatsoever with this until I started the truck one morning and the lights came on. Upon further research I have seen this is a problem with alot of Dodge trucks which leads me to believe that we need to revisit the part.
THE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND PUMP BOTH FAILED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2200.00. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 64,000 MILES. THE FACT THAT BOTH UNITS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME IS SUSPICIOUS TO ME AND SUSPECT THAT ONE PART CAUSED THE OTHER TO FAIL AND IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR FAILURE. THIS SHOULD BE A COVERED REPAIR BY RAM AT NO COST TO THE OWNER BY MEANS OF A RECALL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THIS FAILURE IS COMMON ON THESE TRUCKS WHICH FURTHER CONFIRMS THERE IS A DESIGN OR PART DEFECT.

THE AIR SUSPENSION ON MY 2015 RAM 1500 HAS BEEN FAILING (BLOWING FUSES WHILE DRIVING, FREEZING UP AND FAILING TO INFLATE BEFORE STARTUP) EACH WINTER FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS. AS MENTIONED ABOVE, THE SYSTEM CAN FAIL WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, DUE TO BLOWN FUSES FROM AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE SYSTEM. IT ALSO CAN JUST FAIL TO INFLATE ON COLD DAYS. THE SYSTEM APPARENTLY WAS NOT INSTALLED WITH AN AIR DRYING CAPABILITY CAUSING THESE ISSUES ABOVE AND THIS SHOULD BE EXPECTED IN COLDER CLIMATES. THE AIR SUSPENSION IS A 'CLOSED' SYSTEM, BUT WAS BUILT IS CAPABLE OF PULLING IN AIR FROM THE OUTSIDE UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS (MEANING IT IS NOT A CLOSED SYSTEM). GIVEN THE FACT THIS ABILITY WAS INCORPORATED INTO THE SYSTEM, AN AIR DRYING SYSTEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED AS WELL. IT IS A CRITICAL SAFETY CONCERN WHEN THE SYSTEM FAILS TO INFLATE THE AIR SUSPENSION AND FCA SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IT WOULD FAIL. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RECALL REIMBURSING PEOPLE FOR THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH FIXING FAILURES OF THIS SYSTEM (COMPRESSOR AND AIR BAG FAILURES) AS WELL AS THE INSTALLATION OF A REMEDY (FULL REPLACEMENT) TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE SYSTEM.

AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN IT LEAPED FORWARD INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN I WAS TRYING TO TURN OFF THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T MAKE IT REPEAT SO THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY WITH NO RESOLUTION. THIS TIME, I GOT AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF ATTITUDE FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAYING I WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEMS AND THAT I DIDN'T WANT ANY HELP AFTER THEY MENTIONED THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME. I'M SURPRISED THEY LET ME HAVE THAT TRUCK BACK AS DANGEROUS AS IT IS BUT THEY CERTAINLY DID. THIS THING IS LIKE A TIME-BOMB. JUST WAITING FOR THE NEXT INCIDENT AND THERE CERTAINLY WILL BE ONE. WHEN COMING TO A STOP, VEHICLE FUEL SHIFTS IN TANK FORCING VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY FORWARD UNDER BRAKING. IF UNPREPARED FOR THE SHIFT, WHICH ONLY HAPPENS UNDER BRAKING WHEN THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTS, THE TRUCK WILL OVERPOWER THE CURRENTLY APPLIED BRAKES TAKING MORE TIME TO STOP. THIS CAN RESULT IN A COLLISION WITH A STOPPED VEHICLE OR OBJECT IF THE DRIVER DOES NOT APPLY HARDER BRAKING.

ON MAY 29,2018. I REARENDED A SEMI TRUCK. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PRESSED TO THE FLOOR BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN TOWED TO COLLISION CENTER I ADDRESSED MY CONCERNS TO THEM THAT I FELT MY VEHICLE WAS DEFECTIVE DUE TO THE TRUCK MAINTAINING SPEED WHILE I WAS APPLYING BRAKES. THEY PLUGGED IT INTO SCAN TOOL AND FOUR DEFAULT CODES CAME UP. (ABS,AIRBAG,POWER STEERING,DOOR MODULE)I THEN PROCEEDED TO OPEN A CLAIM WITH DAIMLER CHRYSLER. WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MAIN CONCERN THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE INVESTIGATED WAS WHY DEFAULT CODES CAME UP & TRUCK WAS NOT STOPPING TO AVOID COLLISION. DAIMLER CHRYSLER ASSURED ME THERE THIRD PARTY INVESTIGATOR WOULD INVESTIGATE ALL THE ISSUES (ALL DEFAULT CODES). THEY WHERE SENT OUT, PLUGGED TRUCK INTO SCAN TOOL AND TOOK PICTURES. THIRD PARTY SENT MY HUSBAND & I A COPY OF WHAT THE CRASH TEST DATA WAS.BEEN CALLING THEM FOR ANSWERS SINCE MY TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING FOR MONTH & A HALF UNTOUCHED. TO FIND OUT THAT THEY ONLY INVESTIGATED AIR BAG ISSUE & NOT OTHER VERY SERIOUS MECHANICAL SAFETY ISSUES. CLEARLY DOCUMENTED IN CRASH TEST DATA, FROM MY VEHICLE, STATES POSITIVE TORQUE TO MOTOR WITH PEDAL PRESSURE OF ACCELERATOR READING AT 0% & WHILE BRAKES WHERE BEING APPLIED. I HAVE DOCUMENTS TO PROVE MY STATEMENTS. ALSO AT TIME OF ACCIDENT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CURRENT RECALL OF CRUISE CONTROL. ON JUNE 14TH ,2018 MY HUSBAND CHECKED OUR VIN AGAIN & IT IS NOW INCLUDED IN CURRENT RECALL. AT THE TIME OF ACCIDENT MY CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED. BUT THE RECALL IS DUE TO THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE OR ENGINE CONTROL MODULE NOT REMOVING POSITIVE TORQUE REQUESTS FROM THE CAN-B. IF CAN-B STOPS COMMUNICATING WITH THE ECM OR PCM. ALSO ALL OTHER DEFAULT CODES SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED LIKE THE POWER STEERING THAT PULLED TO ONE SIDE WHILE I WAS BRAKING. THEIR ARE TO MANY ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT & ARE HIDING. *BF *TR

TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY IN WINTER CONDITIONS THE TRUCKS ANTI-LOCK/ABS/TRACTION CONTROL /4X4 AND CRUISE CONTROL ALL STOPPED WORKING AND THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. AT 65 MPH WHILE ACCELERATING WITH TRAFFIC UP HILL ON A CORNER ON WINTERY ROADS THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE JUST STOPPED WORKING AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WAS LOST. THE TRUCK WENT INTO SEVERAL 360 DEGREE SPINS AND CAM TO A STOP ON THE FAR RIGHT SHOULDER. NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE STRUCK AND I WAS ABLE TO AVOID THE BRIDGE ABUTMENT. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO LITHIA DODGE OF WASILLA I WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED (48,100 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT) BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT GET THE TRUCK IN FOR OVER A WEEK. AFTER THE DEALER LOOKED AT THE TRUCK THEY REPLACED THE R-REAR SPEED SENSOR AND SAID THAT WAS THE ISSUE. I WENT TO PICK UP THE TRUCK AND THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. I LEFT THE TRUCK AGAIN AT THE DEALER. THEY THEN INDICATED THE ISSUE WAS IN THE WIRING HARNESS. I TOOK THE TRUCK HOME TO INSPECT THE WIRING. I TESTED THE CONTINUITY OF THE CONDUCTORS THAT THE DEALER HAD INDICATED WERE THE ISSUE AND FOUND NO DEFECTS. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK AND EXPLAINED MY FINDINGS, THEY INDICATED THAT THE TECH HAD "GUESSED" THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE HARNESS. AFTER RETURNING TO GET MY TRUCK THE DEALER SAID IT WAS REPAIRED, THEY HAD PERFORMED UNAUTHORIZED WORK, CUT MY HARNESS AND SPLICED AS THEY SAID THAT WAS THE ISSUE, BUT THE ISSUE WAS NOT FIXED. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO ANOTHER LITHIA DEALER WHO INDICATED THE HARNESS WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR BY THE DEALER, YOU CANT SPLICE THE HARNESS(?) ACCORDING TO THE OTHER DEALER AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IN WHOLE. THEY COULD NOT WORK ON IT ANY MORE TO FIX THE ISSUE DUE TO THE HARNESS ISSUE CAUSED BY THE UNAUTHORIZED REPAIR PERFORMED BY THE OTHER LITHIA DEALER. TRUCK STILL HAS NO 4X4, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL OR CRUISE CONTROL. THIS FAILURECOULD BE A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND RESULT IN ACCIDENTS.

I RETURNED TO MY HOME AND BACKED MY TRUCK DOWN MY DRIVEWAY AND PARKED AND PUT MY TRUCK INTO PARK AND APPLIED THE E-BRAKE AND SHUT OFF THE TRUCK. I THEN WENT INSIDE MY HOME AND WALKED INTO MY KITCHEN. ABOUT 3-4MIN LATER I WAS RANDOMLY LOOKING OUT OF MY BACK WINDOW AND I SEE MY TRUCK IN MY NEIGHBORS BACK YARD AGAINST THEIR FENCE. IT APPEARS MY TRUCK ROLLED AWAY DOWN MY DRIVEWAY. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT OF BEEN BECAUSE OF WEATHER CONDITIONS BUT I HEARD ON THE NEWS ABOUT A POTENTIAL FEDERAL INVESTIGATION OF THESE TYPES OF ACCIDENTS FORM RAM TRUCKS FROM 2014-2016. I WAS LITERALLY SHOCKED BY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY TRUCK AS I AM ALMOST CERTAIN I BOTH HAD THE SHIFTIER IN PARK AND APPLIED THE E-BRAKE. THE BRAKE PEDAL ON THIS GENERATION OF RAM 1500 PICKUPS SITS CONSIDERABLY HIGHER THAN THE GAS PEDAL. THIS MEANS WHEN DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, IF YOU QUICKLY HAVE TO MOVE TO THE BRAKE, YOUR FOOT CAN BECOME STUCK UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL SHOULD BE LOWERED AS ITS HEIGHT IS TOO HIGH. RAISING THE GAS PEDAL WOULD MAKE IT TOO HIGH AS WELL CREATING A DIFFERENT PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY DISCUSSIONS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.

I ENTERED MY DODGE RAM WITH ONLY 5000 MILES ON IT AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO START IT AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND STILL HAD NO BRAKES. I RETRIED THIS NUMEROUS TIMES WITH SAME RESULT. I PUT IT IN GEAR AND WENT DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND HAD NO BRAKES. I BACKED UP AND STILL HAD NO BRAKES. FINALLY AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE THE BRAKES WENT BACK TO NORMAL. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK TRAVELING ABOUT 40 MPH AND APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AND HAD NO BRAKES AGAIN. THE PETAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND IT FELT LIKE THE ABS MAY HAVE BEEN SLOWING THE VEHICLE. IF THERE WAS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME OR IF I HADN'T STARTED BRAKING WAY EARLY I WOULD HAVE CRASHED. AFTER THAT I FINISHED MY DRIVE TO WORK WITHOUT FURTHER ISSUES. I CALLED THE MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM HIM YET.

TRUCK IS 1 YEAR OLD WITH 26,000 MILES. ROTORS NEED MACHINING OR REPLACING. WAS TOLD THAT DAILY COMMUTING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC HAS CAUSED THE ROTORS TO OVERHEAT AND BECOME PITTED CAUSING THE BRAKES TO NOW SQUEAK WHEN APPLIED AT LOW SPEEDS. NO TOWING INVOLVED. TRUCK IS USED AS A DAILY COMMUTER. MOSTLY HIGHWAY TRAVELLING, BUT RUSH HOUR IS STOP AND GO FOR A GOOD 10 MILES EACH WAY. 3 DIFFERENT SERVICE DEPARTMENTS HAVE INFORMED ME THIS IS PRETTY COMMON DUE TO THE NICKEL COMPONENT IN THE ROTORS. THEY ARE RECOMMENDING REPLACING THEM OR MACHINING THEM AT A COST OF $250 PLUS NEW PADS EVEN THOUGH THEY DO NOT NEED REPLACING. ROTORS WERE ONLY WARRANTED FOR 1 YEAR OR 12,000 MILES.

I STARTED PUMPING THEM AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SLOW AND STOP THE TRUCK. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN 2 WEEKS LATER AND I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM. THEY ALSO COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES BEING SOFT. 5/4/2016 I AGAIN HAD ISSUES. I GOT INTO THE TRUCK; STARTED IT UP WENT TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO PUT THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE AND THE BRAKES WERE SOFT. I HAD TO PUMP THEM BRAKES A FEW TIMES BEFORE I COULD PUT IT IN DRIVE. I LOVE MY DODGE TRUCKS; BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE.

WE WERE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH DOWN LA3132 WHEN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT BLACK, THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN, MOST ALL ELECTRONICS, TO INCLUDE THE HEADLIGHTS, CEASED FUNCTIONING AND THE RPM & MPH GAUGES CONSTANTLY BOUNCED UP AND DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO COAST SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AS THE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. I COULD NOT RESTART THE VEHICLE SO, IT HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. FIVE DAYS LATER, I TOOK RE-DELIVERY OF MY TRUCK WITH AN ADDITIONAL 200 MILES ADDED TO THE ODOMETER AND A VERBAL EXPLANATION (NO PAPERWORK) THAT THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. UPON RE-DELIVERY WITH MY SALESMAN PRESENT, I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BLACKED OUT AND THE GAUGES BOUNCED. MY SALESMAN WENT TO GET A SERVICE TECH BUT, WHILE HE WAS GONE, I HEARD A CLICK IN THE DASH AND EVERYTHING STARTED WORKING AGAIN. ON 12/11/2015, WITH JUST UNDER 60 DAYS OWNERSHIP AND RIGHT AT 700 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, I WAS RETURNING HOME FROM SHOPPING, TRAVELING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET, WHEN THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS SUDDENLY HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME, I WAS TRAVELING AT 30 MPH AND APPROACHING AN S-CURVE WITH NO HEADLIGHTS AND NO STREET LIGHTS. I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS THE BRAKES WERE VERY HARD TO APPLY AND I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT BEFORE FINALLY GETTING IT STOPPED. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN BECAUSE I COULD NOT RESTART IT AND THE GAUGES WERE BOUNCING. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP. I'M NOT SURE I WANT TO TAKE RE-DELIVERY OF THIS PARTICULAR TRUCK.

I WAS TRAVELING ON I-35 FROM AUSTIN TO SAN ANTONIO IN MY BRAND NEW 2015 DODGE 1500 WHEN MY 'SERVICE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM' LIGHT CAME ON, THE TRUCK STARTED SHACKING SO HARD I COULD BARELY HOLD IT ON THE ROAD, WHEN I GOT PULLED OVER THE DRIVER SIDE BACK TIRE WAS ON FIRE, RIGHT UNDER THE GAS TANK. THE LEFT REAR CALIPER HAD A MASSIVE FAILURE THAT CLAMPED DOWN ON THE PAD.

MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE BRAKES WERE AUTOMATICALLY DEPLOYED A FEW TIMES WITHOUT TOUCHING THEM. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES AND THE THIRD TIME WAS TWO DAYS AGO AND WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO CHRYSLER JEEP RAM IN ALHAMBRA, CA TO BE EXAMINED. THEY TEST DROVE IT AND EXAMINED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE AN AUTOMATIC BREAKING MECHANISM AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. EACH TIME OF THE BREAKING, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ON AND WE DO NOT BELIEVE WE EVEN HAD THE FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. WE FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS LIFE SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. WE PURCHASED THIS ONE THINKING IT WAS A SAFE TRUCK, YET NOW WE ARE VERY CONCERNED. I HOPE SOMEONE WILL LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. IF THIS HAPPENED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, I AM SURE WE WOULD BE REAR ENDED.
