2015 RAM 1500 Steering Problems

Electric power steering would randomly fail. No inspections have been done due to it being recently, no warning lights.

The vehicle starts but the steering wheel won’t move. It’s very stiff and takes two pairs of hands to turn it to the left or right.

Sudden & unexpected power assist failure of the electronic power steering system (EPS). It had an intermittent failure for approximately 3 seconds before total failure then the steering warning illuminated in the instrument cluster. I feel that this absolutely is a safety issue, as the steering is extremely difficult to operate without the rack being powered, much more so than old style power assist, say if the belt came off of an older generation power steering system. There are no OBD2 codes associated with this failure.

Electric steering failed while driving

My 2015 ram ecodiesel is getting a brake light for ABS, traction control, emergency brake all not working. Dealership wants $4000 to fix it with a part that’s back ordered 2yr. I’m having a hard time understanding if so many people online are having this issue why it’s not a SAFETY RECALL. The stock part failed at no fault of the customers.

The power steering assist is not working and it can be replicated. Very hard to turn and over steering a safety issue, Accident risk as wheel does not return to straight position. There were no warning lights at all. I called stellaris customer service and documented but advised that my vin number was not on the safety recall list which is why I am reporting this. They said I can repair at ,y own expense which I can not afford to do. My case number at stellaris is 94706058

There is intermittent steering lock, that typically happens at slower speeds and when returning back to center/straight. When it happens, there is also a warning chime that occurs. It just started happening in Sept 2025 and has continued to occur since then.

Failure of power steering system

So those problem has been reported and delt with but continued ongoing investigations for my vehicle. I have a 2015 ram 1500 that at 100,000miles and now experiencing issues with my steering. Have ran vin and no outstanding recalls. My problem is almost like the eps stops working for brief seconds while turning at slower speeds. The problem comes and goes, no noises, lights or codes just physical hard to personally steer my truck at times.

Warning light for EPS and fuel pressure censor

Electric Power Steering Unit suddenly failed upon start-up of vehicle. This truck manufactured in Feb. of 2015 but DID NOT receive NHTSA 16V-167000. The Safety Recall indicates RAM 1500 trucks manufactured from Jan. 22, 2015 to Sept. 13, 2015. This truck is within manufactured recall dates so why isn't it flagged?

the electronic power steering went out while operating the pick up on a city street and I was unable to steer the vehicle which created a safety issue for the pedestrians and passengers. There were no warnings or messages indicating a problem prior to me losing steering capability. I pulled over but had to get the truck off the roadway so I drove without power steering to the repair shop. This ‘repair’ cost me $183. The repair shop said they checked for recalls with my VIN, but there wasn't anything so I paid for the repair and drove home. The very next day, the power steering went out while driving on a city street again. I took the pickup back to the dealership for further repair. In researching this issue, I noticed there was a previous recall on the 2015 and 2016 electronic power steering in the Ram trucks for this very reason. I was advised by the dealership that my VIN was not on the recall list. I also called the Ram recall center and they verified this to be true. I addition, I mailed multiple letters to the RAM complaint center but have never heard from them. I called the RAM complaint center and again was told my VIN wasn't on the recall. I expressed my concern regarding other VIN's that weren't on the recall but have experienced the safety concerns for the RAM drivers, passengers and any pedestrians or other drivers near the RAM with the issues.

Failed ABS Module

2015 Ram 1500 was driven into the garage and parked. 2 weeks later when restarted, the power steering would not work. Light in dash says Service Power Steering and also the check engine light is on. Have replaced battery, and checked all fuses, which were good. Due to the fact the truck cannot be steered, am unable to take it to a dealer for service.

I was driving and my truck lost all steering. I was in the middle of turning and I was unable to steer. I was almost rear ended and broad sided at the same time. Thank God the other drivers were paying attention. I spoke with my mechanic and he said that this was a common issue with my truck and this make and model. So I went online and looked and I have attached a screenshot of what I have found.

Power steering fails randomly at low speed leading to emergency corrections and jerking of the wheel which could cause an accident.

Complete power steering failure happened twice on my truck. First time was at around 150000 miles and failed while I was driving. I was driving straight and suddenly the power steering completely failed. I replaced the steering rack with a used rack from a 2013 RAM 1500 and that one failed at 235153 miles. The second power steering rack failed on vehicle startup. The date and mileage listed in the additional details are for the second power steering rack's failure. The original steering rack failed around 2021 and I was traveling around 40-60 miles per hour.

Power steering went out. There is an open recall for RAM 1500s that mine needs to be added to. I called in March after it happened. Recall Reference Number 11649049. Vehicle was inspected by auto mechanic on Beale Air Force Base and he identified that it should be part of the recall.

Loss of power steering and simultaneous loss of speedometer readings. If one is down, so is the other. It happens mostly on start (intermittent), but has been known to happen while driving. First time was July 4, then it has happened at least 5 times since.

Ram 1500 has intermittent power steering loss that snaps the steering wheel back to straight. I almost crashed taking a right turn as the power steering attempted to turn the wheels straight mid-turn. I was able to park the vehicle safely but no lights illuminate on the dash aside from the split-second the system malfunctions. The car does not show a code or anything for the issue and proceeds to show normal dash indicators while stationary except when you attempt to turn the wheel. This is EXTREMELY dangerous as if you do not catch the 0.5 second indicator flash you wouldn't see there is an issue with the power steering system. I believe my truck was impacted by the same issue that affected other 2015 Ram 1500's electric power steering that resulted in a recall. However mine was not included in the recall.

I was driving my ram 1500 and the steering all of a sudden got really hard to steer. It felt like it locked up on me. Then. It broke free. It kept doing it all the way home.

I was driving on the highway when my power steering assist stopped functioning and almost caused a major traffic collision. I was able to limp the vehicle to a dodge dealership who informed me that the problem was in fact the EPS module that controls the power steering. Dealership nor Dodge will pay for the issue knowing it is an issue that almost caused a major accident. Made complaint with Mopar and customer service and they said nothing they will do. I find this disheartening that they know this major problem exists and offer no solution or assistance. I see your office still has an open investigation into this issue. Please help me get this fixed as I shouldn't have to put out over 4k to fix a known faulty part. Thank you.

My truck's electric power steering is failing and should be added to the current investigation RQ 23-003. I am hopeful that you will make a decision to order FCA to replace, at no charge, all of the affected electric power steering units on Ram 1500 trucks, including mine.

The electronic power steering component itself is failing. When turning the steering wheel one way the wheel will jerk the opposite direction and be very difficult to turn due to the power steering failing. An indicator light on the instrument panel comes on that states to service the steering control system and then shuts off by itself. This impacts the safety of all those in or around the vehicle when in motion due to steering becoming impossible or next to impossible to control. The vehicle has never been under water nor in the snow to cause any such damage. The problem is continuous and can be reproduced and inspected at any time supporting this claim. The factory has a recall in place for this year model and month range for when this truck was produced but my vin is not showing up as being part of the troubled load. It however does fit all of the criteria outlined by the manufacture and current issued recall.

Electronic steering rack Start to intermittently lose steering, causing random difficulty steering while in operation.

The electronic steering on my truck is failing prematurely and poses a risk to my safety and that of the drivers around me. When I drive it and go to make turns, the power steering will go in and out causing various levels of strength needed to control the vehicle while turning.

I am experiencing electric-power-steering problems on my 2015 Ram 1500. Although my truck is outside of Recall S19, I understand Recall VB9 / TSB 19E-077 allows dealers to inspect the eps gear serial number for contamination. I am formally requesting that my vehicle be inspected under this bulletin and that goodwill assistance be provided if the EPS gear is contaminated. Please advise next steps.

Intermittent power steering loss. Steering becomes very difficult to turn and unsafe as it is unpredictable. The issue is persistent and ongoing.

ABS system went out 3 years ago. The truck was still drivable and used extreme caution when doing so. This morning the power steering went out which is directly related to the ABS system. I noticed that a recall was issued for 2017 and beyond models of the Ram, but why not 2015. My truck has less than 100,000 miles and is now completely undriveable because the ABS cant be fixed.

Power steering stopped working - understand there is a recall on manufacture years 2015 and newer - mine falls in the date range but my VIN is not a part of the issued recall "S19"

I have a 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie that I've owned for just over a year. I have already had to replace the EPS rack and pinion once, due to losing all power steering while driving with my kids. I paid $1,800 for the rack and pinion with a limited warranty. The warranty is now up and I am having to buy another rack and pinion from $1,800-$2,500. When I was driving my kids to school, my steering wheel completely locked up and I could not control my vehicle. This has been an ongoing issue and my truck has been inoperable for three weeks. MOPAR is selling dangerous vehicle that are not road worthy that endanger not only my family's lives, but those also on the road. This issue needs fixed, because I am now paying for a vehicle that is unsafe and is putting me in financial hardship. The issue has been confirmed by a mechanic shop to be the EPS rack and pinion system. There was zero warning each time this has occurred, I just lost complete control of my vehicle without warning.

2015 ram 1500 truck the abs module failed , the truck will put itself in park and it has to be towed to a safe place, the truck has been taken to a dealer and they have no parts to fix it with, the warning lights did come on but by that time the truck was not drivable , it has been almost 6 months and the parts number 68228991ad is under engineer review and they are not making the part . there are 1.2 million trucks that need parts ,a recall is on some vin numbers but not all thanks.

The electric power steering has slowly become sluggish. At first I noticed the steering wheel was not returning to center after a turn and I would have to assist steering the truck back straight. This started maybe a month ago and being mechanically inclined I thought maybe it was an alignment issue (not enough caster possibly). Then as I left home this morning, out of the blue, the steering was very heavy with substantially less assist. It was difficult parking and even more sluggish returning to center from a turn requiring full hands on steering back to straight ahead. Looking the issue up on the Internet, I find a recall for this issue in 2016 on a small number of this model and now an new ongoing NHTSA investigation since August 2023. I am the third owner of this truck and it has had great care and is in generally fine condition for a 10 year old truck. I have already had to convert the truck back to coil spring suspension due to the air suspension system crapping out. I don't believe a steering system should give out at only 109,000 miles. I believe Stellantis should be held accountable for major system such as steering failing with such low mileage.

While driving there is intermittent loss of power steering during a turn where at times it will be hard then easy to turn. While at highway speed it causes issue with maintaining your lane and in town making short turns can be hard. There is no warning before it happens and it's completely random.

On 3/19/2025 steering wheel would lock up for a second while turning. This is now continually happing and service power steering light comes on for a second then turns off.

When turn the steering wheel feels like it doesnt want to turn and almost wont but then it will go back to normal buf then it will do it agian this happens 2 or 3 times during 1 turn. It happens in when turning in both directions but only on the turn on when wheel is turning back to stright. My safty and other drivers or pedestrians could be injured or be killed by this happing not being able to turn the truck where it is meant to be turned. I afraid that it is going to get worse and i may hit someone or something. There was no warning before,during, or after this happening had a OBD 2 tester hooked up to after it happened the 2 time and it showed nothing about anything relevant to this problem. The shop said that it could be a part failure or malfunction and quoted me $3500. I just bought the truck and knew i would have some problems to fix buying a used truck. But the motor and transmission were hood so i wasnt thi king there would be any really big expenses. Buf then this happened. I called the previous owner and asked if he had any problems similar to that and he said he did but only when it was cold after truck warmed up he wouldn’t notice it, but also said that he didn’t drive it much the last few months due to him having a new truck. He told me he first noticed it around September 2024.

Steering gear has signs of internal shorting. Component is electric. Results in total loss of power steering. My vehicle has the same exact issue as the one noted in recall S19 (see attached document) but is not noted as an open recall with Chrysler Dodge Open Recall Hotline or Stew Hanson Dodge in West Des Moines, IA.

I was driving to work one morning and my power steering just stopped working and the service power steering light lite up and luckily I was about to pass a gas station so I had to slow way down to turn the steering wheel to get into the lot I pulled to the gas pump to get fuel and shut the truck off and was hoping it would reset which it did but now when the truck is setting still running you can't turn the steering wheel unless you give it gas and start moving and it'll start working again.

I’ve had a complete loss of steering control while driving on highway coming home from work last night. There was no warning it just failed. I was able to manhandle the truck on the highway and limp home. My first thought I had my power steering pump fail but when I couldn’t find a pump on my engine I google search the problem and found out that this is a known issue but my truck was not included in the recall issued back in 2016.. I was completely unaware my 2015 Ram 1500 had this issue until it failed last night on me. I’m afraid to take to the dealer because I’m sure this will be a large repair bill. I wish they would include my vehicle in the recall!!

While driving my truck with randomly loose power steering and this happens at all speeds. It will also make my dashboard go crazy move my dashboard measurement alol over the place like a haunted clock. It will also give me more messages such as service power steering, electronic throttle control, service shifter, service transmission, service airbags. This will then cause my car to not shift up or down a gear while driving. This will happen and then if I unplug my battery for 10 minutes or so it goes away and then will randomly come back same day or the next day. My power steering will go out whether I’m parked going 10 miles an hour or if I’m going 75 miles an hour which is a gigantic safety issue. My steering wheel will randomly lock up and my car with then to move left and right as it locks up. In addition the check engine will either light up or not light up and then will disappear. I did take my truck back to the dealership to where I purchased it and was not able to solve the issue they attempted to fix it for a total of 36 days two times of which they “fixed” it but then I’d be driving on the highway and it would be doing it all over again. This has been going on since October 21 2024 and is not safe to drive but don’t have a choice as it is my only means of transportation so I try to manage it the best I can. I see multiple posts online about the same thing I believe there needs to be a safety recall on this regarding the entire wiring system, the electronic power steering module or the electronic throttle module. This needs to be addressed.

Feels like the steering keeps going in and out one second it is okay the next it is very hard to steer were you can barely turn the wheel at all at any speed

Electric power steering rack has failed. It's very, very hard to steer the vehicle. Happened when it was cold and snowy out. I'm lucky it occurred in my driveway, and I wasn't at speed on the highway! Dealer says it's a module in the steering rack. Quoted over 3k to replace the electronic power steering rack. I can't afford that... That kind of repair was never anticipated when I purchased this vehicle.

Truck loses power when you accelerate at any various moments. Forces you to put it in park and then I'll have to restart the engine and then it'll drive normal like nothing happen. Power steering is a little hard which cruise control doesn't work when this is happening.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the power steering control module (PSCM) had failed. The dealer determined that the PSCM and the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,500.

The contact's husband owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became firm. There was no warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer on several occasions; however, the dealer was initially unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was informed that the rack and pinion and the rear differential case needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained with the dealer due to parts being on backorder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 187,000.

The power steering fails whenever the outside temperature is cold, below about 45 deg F. The failure occurs when the truck is started. The failire is very consistent, but again only when cold outside. When the failure occurs, after warming the engine compartment for 30-60 minutes and restarting the truck, the steering is then OK and the truck can be driven normally. When the failure occurs, the engine runs OK, and the truck can be operated, but without power steering it is very hard to drive safely. When the failure happens I have not tried to drive the car on roadways since it is very difficult to steer the truck. However, I am concerned that the steering failure could happen when driving, especially if the outiside temperature gets cold. I have consulted with an authorized RAM dealer and was told the electronic power steering module would need replacement, with estimated cost $3700. I decided against having the steering replaced, since the truck is usable once the engine warms. The dealer did not inspect the truck, since it only has failed on cold mornings in my driveway, so the failure and warning messages are gone once I drive it to the dealer. When the failure occurs there is a red message on the dashboard to "Service Power Steering". This message is somewhat redundant-- the lack of power steering is very evident as soon as you try to drive the truck.

During colder weather the power steering does not work. Any time the temperature is below 65 the light blinks and there is no steering. Even after cleaning battery connections well and replacing the fuses it does not work. We were towing just fine in the afternoon then in the morning when we attempted to drive it was out!

Electronic Power Steering unit/rack failed. Vehicle is available for inspection, although would need to be towed. My safety and other drivers around me has been put at risk due to losing all power steering while driving down the highway. All it would take is losing power steering in a curve on a major highway to cause a major accident. The Electronic Power Steering units on multiple year model Ram 1500's has been reported, my truck alone has lost steering once in October, and again for half of November up until today, December 3rd. My individual EPS has not been inspected by anyone. There is no warning light when the power steering fails, you will be driving along just fine and the next moment, your steering is lost and extremely difficult to move. Once you limp to safety and shut your truck off, a "Service Power Steering" message will pop up and remain on your dash until your power steering unit is replaced.

On my 2015 ram 1500, When it's gets cold out my EPS freezes up to the point where I cannot turn the wheels. I have to let my vehicle run for awhile to regain steering. It also keeps going out when I'm driving. Some days my steering will work fine and other days it doesn't. There is no warning light that comes on on the dash before the steering doesn't work.

Drove from North Carolina to Wisconsin [XXX] for a vacation, second day, [XXX], in Wisconsin went to start up my truck and had a "Service Power Steering" light appear on my dash. Steering wheel was extremely stiff to turn left and right. I tried disconnecting the positive terminal on the battery with no success. I called 3 different Dodge dealers in Wisconsin to see if they had any information on the issue. I was then notified of a possible Electric Power Steering (EPS) failure. Being 1,800 miles from home, this was not very exciting to hear. I was able to disconnect both terminals of the battery and get my power steering back in order to white-knuckle drive back home with the hopes of not losing my power steering while driving through the mountains. I will be calling my local dealer tomorrow, October 16, 2024 to inquire about possible steps to resolve this issue going forward. I was driving on the highway when my power steering went completely out. I had no warning and had no idea what was happening. I could not steer my vehicle. There were other drivers all around me and they all had to avoid my truck. I gradually slowed down and was able to pull it off to the shoulder, almost getting in multiple accidents on the way. I called the closest dealer and they said it was a failure of the electrical power steering system. I was able to get my truck to the dealership. They inspected the truck and they said the part that failed was the power steering rack (Part #68628858AA) and that there was no recall for this system. My truck has now been in the shop for over two weeks and the dealership says this part is on backorder (Which is a clear indication that there is a bigger issue with this part). After doing some online research, I found there have been numerous reports of power steering issues and recalls for 2013-2016 Dodge Ram 1500s which makes me question why my vehicle wasn't included. This was a terrifying situation and I think this requires the attention of the NHTSA.

Dealer told me the recall had nothing to do with my VIN. There was no accident to cause the problem. The truck is in overall great condition. I think there are many Ram 1500 trucks out there that fall under the 2016 power steering recall and mine is one of them. Quoted out $3,000 and no sign of a power steering rack available for who knows how long. Very discouraged and taken advantage of.

ABS module has failed and is affecting steering, transmission and speedometer. Truck is not driveable and dealer cannot obtain the needed ABS module. Manufacturer is not supplying them. Truck spent June and July on dealer lot but no repair is possible. Truck was towed to my home and is useless in current condition.

Number 8 roller fell down and cause the camshaft to have deep groove in the loob. I rebuilt the upper part of the motor bur now still getting check engine light on… july 2023 2nd) Now the power steering is trying to lock up while driving. On sept 2, 2024

My power steering failed suddenly while driving in the middle of a turn. I nearly crashed into a group of people on a sidewalk because the wheel was nearly impossible to turn. I was given no warnings or indicators ahead of time. I now have the "Service Power Steering" light on my dash and it is still very difficult to turn my wheel. A reputable mechanic has inspected the issue and has identified that the power steering module is completely malfunctioning and they will need to replace it entirely (quoted $3500.00). I have seen that there was a recall specifically for power steering on 2015 Ram 1500's, but Fiat/Chrysler has advised that my VIN does not qualify for the recall. This sudden failure on the power steering is extremely dangerous and could cause loss of the life to drivers, passengers, or bystanders. Please urge Fiat/Chrysler to issue a recall on all 2015 Ram 1500's!

The steering in the truck prevents us from safely making necessary left and right turns when backing up and driving forward. It has caused near accidents and had it investigated at the local RAM dealership. The steering is defective, but will cause us thousands of dollars to replace because a recall has not been solidified. Fix this please for the safety of my children.

I have replaced the rack and pinion on my truck 3 times so far. It keeps failing. This is unacceptable. There is obviously a problem and Ram has to address it. How is it possible only certain trucks qualify for a recall regarding the same exact thing. My truck is currently at the shop getting the rack and pinion replaced again. As they were trying to get the truck into the bay, due to the power steering not working, it was crashed into a pole. This needs to be resolved asap!

Truck completely lost steering control while maneuvering. When trying to turn left the truck would violently turn the steering wheel to the right, and vise versa. Or just not turn at all. This is a major life safety issue and needs to be recalled immediately.

While traveling at 40 mph my steering locked and was unable to turn the wheel at all. By the time I stopped I was on the shoulder of the opposite lane. Lucky for me there was no traffic or else it would have been a head on collision. Had the truck towed and learned that the electronic steering failed and the replacement parts were 90 days plus on backorder. After searching 2 weeks found a used one in a junk yard. this problem will cause an accident that could easily be fatal.

I experienced partial loss of electric power steering or (EPS) while driving. if I turn the wheel roughly 30 degrees either way the power steering is out. There was no crash but this did happen while driving and I did have difficulty making a turn, if there was more traffic or if I was on a tighter road I could have easily hit someone else or run off the road. There were no warning lights or messages that indicate the problem before it happened or after. I've had a local dealership (where I bought the truck) and another independent service center inspect it and confirm that the EPS system is the problem and needs to be replaced. The local dealership wants over 6k for the repairs and refuses to work with me on that until this is an official recall. My understanding is that there is an open investigation on this issue, is there any timeline on when it could be resolved? My vehicle is available for inspection if necessary.

In June of 2023 my ABS module went out part #68228991AD was told part was on back order till September 2023, this has continued so that as of this date I'm being told that expected part availability is April 2024. This part is a crucial Saftey part for the use of this vehicle. Beyond the lack of ABS breaking or traction control, the vehicle has lost cruise control, & brake control on a hill.

Electric Power steering it is now. I will try and keep it when repaired. The Truck would not turn with out using two hands and pulling and wasn't very responsive then. yes at an independent shop and at a dealer. No warning lights ever came on independent shop computer says working fine. Everything was fine and it quit working on a trip to the store. I'm glad my kid wasn't driving. I have drove old trucks without power assisted steering and had an idea how to get it to turn. Women and old people wouldn't be strong enough to turn it and would likely crash very dangerous. Mine obviously should have been recalled with the other 2015 models because it has failed just like them. I know this issue is still under investigation according to an article in August of 2023. This is a very dangerous situation when it happens my truck has only 113k on it. steering shouldn't ever fail at that low of use. These should be banned they are not safe.

With power steering you can turn the wheel with your finger right to left, but can’t with the stiffness. Haven’t had it checked out yet.

Came home to google it and saw this was being investigated and wanted to share that I also am experiencing it. This is dangerous because it becomes INCREDIBLY hard to steer.

Steering is partially failing. Hard to turn the steering wheel and can not turn as much.

This has happened 3 time now and basically has been parked since. We have had it to the repair shop and they couldn't find anything. Repair shop even has contacts who work for Chrysler in CO. We live in SD, it's winter. So vehicle need to warm for some time before driving. On all 3 occasions vehicle was warmed up for 15-30 mins. Hop in pickup to leave our yard and shift into drive. Steering wheel acts as if it's still locked. 1st time it lasted 5-10 seconds, I forcibly tried with all of my might to turn the wheel but could not get it too. Also tried shifting though gears while rolling. It just suddenly unlocked. The 2nd and 3rd time it lasted 30-60 seconds before it unlock. As a parent this vehicle isn't safe. What if it locks up while driving at 80mph on the interstate while my kids are in the car with me? I do have a video of it but it won't allow me to upload it.

COMPLAINT/INCIDENT.On February 9th 2024, I was making a right hand turn onto main Street. My speed was under 10mph, closer to 5mph. . Without any warning or MIL, my truck suddenly went from easy steering to unable to move the steering column and jerked/locked the wheel by 90 degrees to the left. In other words, the steering wheel went from the 3:00 position and locked into place at the 12:00 position at the apex of the right turn. This put me on a path to driving into a 2story brick building. I was unable to accelerate and I was unable brake momentarily. The engine sputtered a few times; and that is when the MIL lit up on my dashboard stating “electronic power steering service” and “low battery voltage”. After the lights came on, the steering was brought back to normal along with the acceleration and my brakes. After the MIL displayed, steering resumed enough to pull into a parking spot. All of this occurred within 80ft from the apex of the corner to where the truck finally locked up. Total distance traveled 195 ft from start of turn to parked. The steering column and wheel completely locked up once in parking spot. I weigh about 230 lb and I could literally hang off the wheel without the wheel moving an inch.. At home, the power to the truck did not turn off like it normally would after 30 secs. The manual neutral transmission switch was pulled, which normally does not interfere with shutdown. After disengaging the truck powered off. However, I was unable to restart and only a clicking noise was heard. A battery booster jumpstarted successfully. No MIL on dash on startup. Surprisingly, the steering came back to normal. PART NUMBERS. The EPS numbers on the outside casing are P68242957AD and TIC2794A8134. Neither of these numbers have been listed in any of the documentation provided by the NHTSA on the power steering recall nor the reopened investigation.

Power steering is intermittently failing, making it hard to turn.

Power steering goes on and off, and sometimes works fine. but it can happen when you drive the car that is not safe.

My power steering has suddenly became very stiff when turning left or right and the suddenly loosens up causing the truck to quickly shift left or right. It is every turn into a road or stop sign and there’s hesitation or a glitchy jerky feeling around curves going normal speed limit. There were no warning signals lights or errors before during or after the incident.

Whenever the ambient temperature gets below 40 deg F, the "Service Power Steering" warning message appears and the steering doesn't work. The fuse is OK. The battery is OK. The connections going to the steering rack don't have any corrosion on the pins. I opened the steering rack to see if there was any water infiltration that might be causing a short on the circuit board, but it is dry. I saw the 2015 Ram 1500 had a recall for steering issues, but my VIN didn't qualify for the recall. There are no parts available to fix this problem, which tells me this is a widespread issue with the Ram 1500 trucks.

My husband was driving the vehicle when the power steering failed momentarily. It went back to normal but since it is going in and out intermittently. The mechanic will be giving it this week

The electric power steering fails when in low temperatures, Usually below 40 degrees. After the truck gets up to temperature the power steering starts working. It has not been inspected by anyone and it is unknown if it could be available for inspection. I have read on multiple forums of people having the same issue. There were no warning lamps present. It is a safety issue because it will happen when you are first taking off. For example it power steering will work coming down the driveway then when you get on the road it will go out, and after the truck gets to running temp. It will start working again.

Power steering service warning came on while turning at low speed.Experienced jerky and erratic steering at lower speeds. Adviced by mechanic to have towed for service, not safe to drive.

Electric power steering has failed on the vehicle. We are aware of a recall on trucks manufactured at the same time and wonder if our vehicle should be included in the recall.

I was driving down the highway at 65 when all of a sudden I lost my steering. No warning or anything.

While driving at all speeds I lose my power steering. It appears it comes and goes while driving which is very dangerous. I did research and found that an open investigation is going on for 2015 Ram models that were built between January and September of 2015. Mine was built in June of 2015 but does not have an active recall. The cause of this is potentailly contaminated electric power steering unit circuit boards. I called Ram hot line and they said that my truck was not affected even though it falls within the date of mfg range and it is doing the exact same thing others described.

My 2015 ram steering locks up, can't turn the wheel, highly unsafe. There is a recall for 2015 Ram's that were manufactured from jan-sept. Mine was manufactured in June. A recall for the same issue I'm having, but for some reason my vin isn't attached to that recall. This is highly unsafe, it is clearly a manufacture defect. And rams helpline is completely unhelpful.

I was driving my vehicle when suddenly I lost all control of power steering. The light came on and thank goodness I made it home safely as this was quite dangerous. I am EXTREMELY upset and annoyed that this has happened. When I research online it shows that there was a recall for my model year but only ~400 affected trucks. I do not feel this is accurate as I have experienced the same exact thing. After taking it to a Ram Company they have informed me it is a power steering issue and it has now been there over a week with the part continuously being pushed back as it is on back order. If the part is on back order I assume there is an influx of people also having this issue. I now am without a vehicle for who knows now as it is not safe to drive with no power steering and illegal to do so in all 50 states. Please contact me with further questions. Thank you

Steering lamp turned on dash. NO power steering. Vehicle very hard to control. Problem comes and goes when vehicle turned on and off. Maybe it will work...maybe it wont. Has happened for 3 months now. EXTREMELY dangerous. Vehicle is not driveable with this issue. Cost to repair: $3000 estimate. Mfgr SHOULD be repsonsible! Danger to ALL vehicles on road.

Powerstering failed. I'm going around a corner and lost my powersterinf and almost went into uncommon traffic. Just a few days later my dad told me he hurd a raidio show talking about my exact problem. I called a dealer and they told me they have no recalls. Now I am hearing the adds on the radio about 2015 and 2016 dodge rams having a contaminated circuit board. There were no worning lights at first but now I have a check engine light on. I had a local macanic look at the truck and he told me that he believes it's the contaminated circuit board.

The Power Steering in my vehicle fails while driving. It works sometimes and then stops working. This happens while driving. This is extremely dangerous to myself and others as it becomes very difficult to steer the vehicle while driving.

Later while driving at an undisclosed speed, the braking system failed with the ABS warning light illuminated before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the electronic steering rack and lower steering shaft and bolts were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. I noticed that every time I went out to drive my 2015 Ram 1500 somewhere that the steering would get hard to turn. This would happen on and off every time and seems to be progressively getting worst. I started researching the power steering figuring that I need fluid only to learn that the power steering is an electrical assist system. I then read more about the investigation and what could happen. I currently have not driven much and am scheduled to take it in to the dealership for repair.

Power steering went out while driving. This is a common problem with this year truck. I spent $3600 on a new rack and pinion. This should be a recall. The truck only has 80k miles on it.

Approximately 8/1/23 upon starting the truck I found that the power steering was sluggish. I did not lose control but found some resistance when turning the steering wheel. The power steering fluid was not low and there were no indication of any leakage. This lasted two to three days and then cleared up on its own. On 8/15/23 it was driven to several destinations and the steering was optimum. Upon starting the truck after my last stop the power steering was again sluggish , worse than the previous episode. I had seen on television after the first occurrence that the Ram1500 was once recalled due to power steering problems and my vehicle falls into the manufacture date for known problems. This is available for inspection and there was no accident. It does pose a hazard if it starts while I am driving. The truck has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center but I have spoke to one.

The electric power steering on my 2015 ram 1500 Slt v8 5.7L quad cab has went out. I keep calling dodge dealerships and have even contacted NHSTA about the issue and I keep being told there is no recall on the power steering yet I keep seeing news reports all over the internet and TV about ram recalls on electric power steering years 13-16. The power steering went out on me as I was drive home and nearly cause an accident on the highway.

According to Ram, some vehicles have a faulty circuit board that may cause the electronic steering to fail. I'm currently experiencing intermittent steering loss, that jolts the wheel. This seems dangerous and ram should replace it asap.

Steering issues, it is becoming difficult, as the steering wheel is getting harder to turn at times or either to loose. The steering is partially crooked as well. I have had an alignment completed on 8/3/2023, but the issue is still there.

The power steering failed while driving at 60 mph putting me and my wife and other motorists at dangerous risk. The truck has been parked and unable to drive. There was no previous warning until the power assist failed and locked up also before stopping the only warning was when this happened driving and the message was service power steering and a red blinking icon

I was driving home when the power steering suddenly failed and I received an emergency alert on my dashboard simultaneously. I was in the middle of heavy traffic and I had cars to my left and a curb and sidewalk to my right. There was no prior warning to this event. There was nowhere for me to pull over when the incident occurred, but I was able to nurse the vehicle to my home. I took the vehicle to my dealer where they determined that I needed a complete new rack and pinion power steering. Dealer installed NAPA approved part which cost me $1878.28 plus $390.89 for the installation. Total cost of this specific repair was $2269.17. The incident and repair took place in October 2022. The NAPA approved part was selected due to the timeliness of the repair needed.

Air suspension began to fail over and over while driving causing the vehicle to become unstable. First dealer says it’s a air compressor, then it’s the manifold that controls the air, then they aren’t sure why it kept happening ended up needing to replace the rear air bags because they kept failing. Major safety concern almost flew off the highway because of how quickly the air got dumped.

While driving at low speeds the steering becomes difficult like the electric power steering is failing. It’s intermittent but is becoming more consistent. Feels like the power steering system is failing.

INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF POWER STEERING AT SLOW SPEEDS SUCH AS WHEN TURNING IN AN INTERSECTION. THERE WAS A RECALL S19 FOR THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING CIRCUIT BOARD FOR SELECTED S/N BUT THIS S/N WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE BUILD DATE WAS IN THE DATE RANGE OF THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THEY FAILED TO IDENTIFY THIS UNIT. I CALLED FSA AND THEY WOULD NOT RETROACTIVELY INCLUDE THIS IN THE RECALL. THE DEALER STATED THERE IS NO WAY TO DIAGNOSE SUCH AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE. HOWEVER, THESE ARE THE EXACT SYMPTOMS IDENTIFIED IN THE RECALL.

The power steering has suddenly started feeling very sluggish and harder to turn. Seems more apparent at slower speeds. I see it is electric power steering assist.

Power steering went out at 70 mph, making it extremely dangerous to get the truck across 2 lanes of traffic , to the side of the road, dash said “service power steering “ when taken to dealer, no code showed up. My wife could have been severely injured or even died! This is the 3rd time it happened. How can I get it repaired, if they can’t figure out why it went out???

Drove 5 miles and made it to my home then lost steering ability. Screen on dash suddenly said “service power steering”. (Or something like that). I don’t have enough muscles to turn the steering wheel to the hard right to turn. Husband had to turn it up into my driveway. Looked online said check fuses. Just pulled then replaced same fuses then had steering again. Scared to drive truck again. Old power steering recall fixed. (…or says it was.)

The electric power steering racks on these trucks fail, and can cause an increased risk of losing control causing an accident. Mine is starting to fail, and Dodge is saying that they haven't issued a recall. I believe that they should.

My Steering went suddenly stiff making it extermely hard to turn, this resulted to my truck clipping/crashing into the front side of a parked commercial vehicle. My car rolled over and me and my passenger was injured. The truck was inspected and the technicians final conclusion was that the accident took place because the electronic power steering lost communication.

I have no power steering assist. There is a recall on this problem but according to Fiat - Chrysler my truck is not included in the recall. I could understand this if the manufacturing dates were much further apart. The beginning date for the recall is January 22, 2015. My truck manufacturing date is listed as January 2015, with no day given. Seems like there is a chance mine could be affected by the same problem. I have not had it fixed yet so the problem is still there. It is available for inspection. The problem started approximately mid December 2022 and has gotten steadily worse.

My electric power steering is intermittently working like in the S19 recall states and I never had this recall taken care of to my knowledge. I bought the truck brand new and it falls under the vehicles affected. I do not know where to start with this issue and I am hoping that you can help me see this thru to get fixed correctly. This truck has electric power steering, which happens to stiff up when driving sometimes. it can go with days not happening then come back, I restart the truck and everything seems to work fine until you start to drive for a short distance. I checked my u clamps ball joints ect.. all looks great, only thing left is the power steering motor.

The Electronic Power Steering "Service Power Steering" warning light has come on my 2015 Dodge Ram Big Horn and the electronic power steering is not functioning creating a safety hazard. I am the original purchaser of the vehicle. The vehicle has 29,379 original miles. The vehicle was assembled in February of 2015. Numerous vehicles were recalled (recall S19) that were manufactured between January and September 2015 due to a contaminated circuit board. I contacted the dealer where I purchased the vehicle (Jeff D'Ambrosio Dodge Chrysler, Downingtown, PA) and I was told that my vehicle was not included in the recall and that my warranty has expired. I will be contacting FIAT Chrysler Monday morning. I feel as though this is a major safety hazard similar to the recall and with the low mileage on the vehicle the manufactured should replace the unit FREE OF CHARGE. Dealer would not order the parts until consumer paid for them up front. Upon paying $2,327.75 for the part consumer was then informed that the parts were not available due to a nationwide shortage and they don’t know when they will receive them.

While pulling a loaded trailer I was going around a right-hand bend in the road at about 35mph and the steering locked up throwing us off the road into a ditch. Thank God it did not throw us into oncoming traffic. Couldn't move the steering wheel at all with two men trying together. Required a tow truck to move to dealer. Also having issues getting the cruise to engage.

Power Steering Assist is random. The steering is difficulty randomly changes between easy to difficult causing unexpected steering changes. This Electronic Power Steering (EPS) unit is NOT part of a similar recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000); however, the symptoms are identical. This EPS unit serial number is TIC3394C5021

Recall 16v-167 has been issued. However, my ram has the exact power steering problems of intermittently locking up while driving at 65,000 miles. The vin spectrum is not broad enough.

We have intermittent loss of power steering resulting in hard steering and then coming back on, resulting in easy steering with no warning. We have checked connections under the vehicle at the steering unit and they are good and clean. We had an analyzer hooked up to check and it said no communication with the module. I see online this has happened frequently on these vehicles and feel it is a safety concern that FCA should address. I talked to FCA service and they said there are no open recalls on this vehicle. This happens at all speeds and was rarely happening but increasing in frequency for the last couple of months. The EPS(Electronic Power Steering) get a little bit hard at slow speed and sometimes you need to use more hand power to steer the vehicle. You can turn off and turn back on the truck and the problem is gone, you dont know when is going to happen again. Normally when you trun on the vehicle in the morning the steering wheel system is a bit hard and you can feel that it get stuck for a moment and then release. There is no message in the dash or any light on. I have not take the truck to any dealer to verify the problem. I did a research and there were a recall for some 2015-2016 models but my VIN is not in that list. I also know that this is happening to more people with a 2015 model but still is not a recall. Do we need to wait until someone crash or have a major issue to consider this a recall,

TRAVELED APPR. 1/2 MILE, 30 MPH ENGINE LOST POWER, RATTLED AND CLANKED LIKE TIMING WAS OFF WOULD HARDLY MOVE- STALLED ME ON BUSY 2 LANE HWY. TRANSMISSION KNOB LOCKED UP, ERRORS READING ADJUST TRAILER BRAKE SLIDER- NO TRAILER CONNECTED TO ME. TRIED ADJUSTING, ALLOWED ME TO PUT IN PARK, COULD NOT GET BACK OUT OF PARK, WOULD NOT LET ME SHUT OF ENGINE. IT WAS TOTALLY STALLED, BUT RUNNING LIKE A CLANKY TRAIN- FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET TRUCK IN REVERSE AND BACK INTO DRIVE 500 FEET BEHIND ME. HAD NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. ENGINE WAS LOPING SO BAD IT FELT LIKE I HAD A FLAT TIRE. GOT THE TRUCK IN DRIVE - STILL LIMITED POWER, NO POWER STEERING. GOT TRUCK UP TO HOUSE SAFELY OFF ROAD- YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET TRUCK IN PARK ON SELECTOR KNOB. SHUT TRUCK OFF. CALLED TO MAKE AN APPT. TO GET TRUCK IN. TRIED TO START TRUCK AND WOULD TURN OVER BUT WILL NOT START. I GOT NOTICE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO OF LOSS OF CRANK POSITION. I CALLED LARSON DODGE TO GET IT FIXED AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE INFO ON HOW TO FIX IT YET, TO CALL BACK AFTER FIRST OF YEAR. SO HERE I AM. IT IS VERY SCARY TO PULL ONTO MAIN 2 LANE HWY AND TOTALLY LOSE POWER AND CONTROL ALL AT THE SAME TIME. NO SHOULDER ON ROAD, CAN NOT EXPLAIN THE FEELING BUT IT IS AN AWFUL FEELING TO BE IN MOTION AND LOSE ALL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS DEFINITELY IS DANGEROUS AND EASILY PEOPLE COULD DIE FROM IT IF IT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY OR ANY BUSY ROAD. PLEASE PEOPLE BE AWARE OF THIS. THE CONTROL KNOB WOULD NOT LET ME PUT IT IN DRIVE.

I HAVE HAD TWO PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. THE FIRST IS THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL INTERMEDIATELY WORKS AND THEN DOESN'T AT TIMES. THE SECOND, IS THAT THE POWER STEERING INTERMEDIATELY WORKS AND THEN SUDDENLY WILL GO OUT IN MIDDLE OF A TURN. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE HOOKED HIS SCANNER TO IT AND ALTHOUGH THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON, HE RESET THE COMPUTER IN THE VEHICLE. THIS ACTION WORKED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AND THE THEN THE ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING RETURNED. I'VE LOOKED UP RECALLS ON BOTH THESE ISSUES AND HAVE NOTICED THERE ARE RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE PROBLEMS WITH RAM 1500, HOWEVER MINE IS NOT LISTED. I BELIEVE THEY NEED TO BROADEN THEIR RECALL ACTIONS BEFORE SOMEONE LOOSES THEIR LIFE DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURE.

ON SATURDAY POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE I WAS TURNING INTO A GAS STATION IN THE AFTERNOON. DROVE IT BACK TO THE HOTEL AND LEFT IT PARKED OVER NIGHT AND NEXT MORNING SUNDAY POWER STEERING STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE'S AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM SUDDENLY FAILED DURING DRIVING. THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM CONTROLS THE RIDE HEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE RIDE HEIGHT ALSO IMPACTS THE VEHICLE'S STEERING ALIGNMENT. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE ISSUE IS THAT THE NITROGEN AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM PERFORMS A SELF-CHECK UPON START-UP AND PURGES A SMALL VOLUME OF AIR AND INGESTS OUTSIDE AIR, WHICH CONTAINS MOISTURE. DURING THE WINTER MONTHS, THIS MOISTURE GETS INTO THE SUSPENSION'S COMPRESSOR, AND CAUSES PREMATURE FAILURE DUE TO FREEZING. THE COST OF REPAIR/REPLACEMENT FOR THIS AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR IS $1200, AND WILL FAIL AGAIN WHEN THE SAME CYCLE REPEATS. CHRYSLER/RAM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, AND THERE ARE TSB'S ABOUT AIR SUSPENSION ISSUES, AND MULTIPLE CUSTOMER CARE CASES, BUT THEY REFUSE TO ISSUE A RECALL. IF THIS SYSTEM FAILS DURING DRIVING IT CAN CAUSE A SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL DUE TO VEHICLE GEOMETRY CHANGES. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AND HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AS THE WARNING SAID SEEK "IMMEDIATE REPAIR" OF THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, WHICH ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE, AND OPENED A CASE, BUT LATER DENIED THE CASE. THIS ISSUE IS DOCUMENTED AMONG MANY OTHER CHRYSLER AIR RIDE SUSPENSION VEHICLE EQUIPPED OWNERS. THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO REPLACE THE SYSTEM WITH LIKE PARTS (WHICH FAILS AGAIN), OR TO SWAP THE AIR RIDE SYSTEM FOR TRADITIONAL COILS AND SPRING SUSPENSION, WHICH IS COSTLY. THE AIR RIDE SYSTEM IS A COSTLY FACTORY UPGRADE. HAD CHRYSLER DISCLOSED ISSUES WITH SAID SYSTEM, I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED IT, ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS ISSUE IS MOST PROBLEMATIC FOR COLD CLIMATE OWNERS, WHERE TEMPERATURES DIP BELOW FREEZING. THE SYSTEM APPARENTLY WAS NOT INSTALLED WITH AN AIR DRYING CAPABILITY CAUSING THESE ISSUES ABOVE AND THIS SHOULD BE EXPECTED IN COLDER CLIMATES. THE AIR SUSPENSION IS A 'CLOSED' SYSTEM, BUT WAS BUILT IS CAPABLE OF PULLING IN AIR FROM THE OUTSIDE UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS (MEANING IT IS NOT A CLOSED SYSTEM). GIVEN THE FACT THIS ABILITY WAS INCORPORATED INTO THE SYSTEM, AN AIR DRYING SYSTEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED AS WELL. IT IS A CRITICAL SAFETY CONCERN WHEN THE SYSTEM FAILS TO INFLATE THE AIR SUSPENSION AND FCA SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IT WOULD FAIL. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RECALL REIMBURSING PEOPLE FOR THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH FIXING FAILURES OF THIS SYSTEM (COMPRESSOR AND AIR BAG FAILURES) AS WELL AS THE INSTALLATION OF A REMEDY (FULL REPLACEMENT) TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE SYSTEM.

VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SECOND DEALERSHIP FOR 11 WEEKS, "UNDERGOING DIAGNOSIS". AS OF 6/6/2019, NO SOLUTION FOUND. FRANKLY, I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY HAVE A CLUE WHAT IS CAUSING THE RANDOM ENGINE SHUT OFF, NOR HOW TO REPAIR IT. THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT SUCH A FRIGHTENING DEFECT. IT APPEARS RANDOM, WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING UNTIL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP AND INSTANTANEOUSLY THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. AT THIS POINT, I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE A FULL RECALL. AT THIS TIME WE CANNOT FIND THE PARTS TO FIX THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY ARE SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE DUE TO SUCH HIGH DEMAND FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE SAME ISSUES I'M EXPERIENCING WITH MY VEHICLE.

I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THERE WASN'T ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN THE OTHER LANE AND THAT I COULD SLOW DOWN TO PREVENT VEHICLE DAMAGE. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS VERY DANGEROUS! IT MAY NOT SOUND THAT BAD JUST LOSING POWER STEERING BUT WHEN YOU DO NOT EXPECT IT AND IT HAPPENS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY AROUND CURVES OR AT THE STOP LIGHT MAKING A RIGHT AND TIGHT TURN. I TOLD THEM (HER) THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND RECALL LETTER, SO I WAS FOREWARDED TO AN "ADVISOR" WHO NEVER PICKED UP THE PHONE. I LEFT A MESSAGE AS TO MY PROBLEMS, MY NAME AND PHONE NUMBER. THE DATE IS 3/29/2015 AT 5:10PM. I WANT TO DOCUMENT MY EFFORT TO CLEAR THIS PROBLEM AND THE RESPONSE I AM GETTING FROM THE SAN ANTONIO DODGE DEALERSHIP. NOTE: I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO VIBRATE AT ABOUT 73MPH AND GETS WORSE AS THE SPEED INCREASES TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO SHAKE THE FRONT END MECHANISM LOOSE. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE AT THE START BUT IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE TO THE POINT THAT IT IS BECOMING A SAFETY HAZARD. THE PROBLEM STARTED APPROXIMATELY AT 17,000 MILES AND CONTINUES TO GET WORSE AT 19,000 MILES.

DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THERE'S NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY THIS DEFAULT IN THE POWER STEERING. THE TRUCK IS ONLY ONE YEAR OLD. HOW COULD SOMETHING THIS CRITICAL TO SAFETY SIMPLY GO OUT ALREADY. SOMEONE PLEASE PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO HELP US CONSUMERS, FOR THE SAKE OF ALL OUR SAFETY. ALSO I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH, MERGING LEFT, I WAS JERKED PROBABLY 10 TO 15 FT, ENOUGH THAT I WAS PUT INTO THE OTHER LANE. IT HAS CONTINUED TO DO THIS RANDOMLY CAUSING ME TO ALMOST CRASH SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE NOW PARKED THE TRUCK UNTIL FURTHER INVESTIGATION FROM MY MECHANIC OR DODGE DEALERSHIP. IT'LL HAVE TO BE TOWED FOR FEAR OF ME CRASHING.

TWO ACCIDENTS AND WAS DENIED RECALL - EVEN THOUGH MY 2015 DODGE RAM 1500 STEERING COMPONENT HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. ACCIDENT #1 FEBRUARY 16, 2016 BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION WELL. CAR DID NOT BRAKE WELL IN THE RAIN, WAS COMING TO A RED LIGHT WITH A CAR IN FRONT OF ME, HAD TO PUSH ON THE BRAKES AND THEY WERE NOT BRAKING. DODGE RAM 1500 SKID AND HIT THE BACK OF THE CAR IN FRONT. ACCIDENT #2 MARCH 12, 2016 LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND IT WAS RAINING. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I STARTED A SLOW LEFT TURN WHEN: (1) THE DODGE RAM LOST TRACTION, (2) DODGE RAM OVER STEERED TO THE LEFT FROM THE STEERING INPUT SUDDENLY LOSING POWER, AND (3) THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND (4) MY BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. I TRIED TO COUNTER STEER TO MOVE THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE TO THE STREET BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. THE TRUCK THEN SKID, WENT OVER THE CURB AND HIT A LIGHT POST THAT FELL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DODGE RAM AND DAMAGED THE CAR HEAVILY. IF IT HAD FALLEN ON THE ROOF MY PASSENGERS AND I WOULD BE DEAD. POLICE REPORT AND FOUR WITNESSES. ELEVEN DAYS AFTER THE SECOND ACCIDENT, A RECALL FOR DODGE RAM 1500 MODEL YEARS 2015-2016 CAME OUT FOR STEERING. THE RECALL IS FOR THE IDENTICAL MALFUNCTIONING STEERING COMPONENT THAT CAUSED MY SECOND ACCIDENT. CALLED MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN # IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, WHICH MEANS FOR THEM THAT MY CAR WAS MADE AT A DIFFERENT FACILITY FROM THE RECALLS AND IS NOT OF CONCERN FOR THEM. DESPITE THAT MY 2015 DODGE RAM 1500 IS THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF THE RECALL AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT I TOLD THEM I HAD JUST HAD THAT EXACT STEERING MALFUNCTION, I WAS DENIED THE RECALL.

DEALERSHIP REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AND WHEELS AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. INFORMED DEALERSHIP OF TSB SB-16-001-1, WHICH IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM I HAVE. THEY INFORMED ME THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THE TSB. SIMILAR TO OTHER COMPLAINTS FILED AND RESEARCHED CONCERNING REAR VIBRATION ISSUES WITH 2015 RAM TRUCKS.
