The ABS control module and pump failed. ABS Light, Traction / Stabilitrak light / Brake Light on Vehicle was diagnosed by the dealership Dec 16, 2022 was given quote to repair but the parts were not available and back ordered. Been reaching out since to have truck repaired multiple dealerships but ABS module is not available no ETA been driving vehicle as is Currently ABS module is still not available no ETA now and vehicle is rendered in operable due to the ABS Module failure There have been multiple complaints of this issue, yet nothing is being done.

Went to start my truck and it wouldnt start. Connected a jumper box to it to start it and started right up. Check engine light came on and showed "Code P1DF3". My safety was at risk due to not being able to get back home due to this issue. This fault has been reported by others with the ram 1500.

Passenger side axle half shaft has separated. There is a recall (Safety Recall S32) currently on 2016 Ram 1500 4WD manufactured between February 19, 2016, and March 3, 2016. This vehicle was manufactured March 8, 2016. It is too coincidental that I am having the same issue as described in the recall information. I have contacted FCA via phone and was told their was nothing that could be done because the vehicle in service date was 3/28/2016. I would like this investigated further to determine if my and other trucks should be included in this recall.

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the rear wheel seized, causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The contact discovered that the vehicle failed to drive forward while in drive(D). The contact stated that after switching to 4WD, the vehicle was driven off the road and was later towed to the residence. The contact stated that while examining the vehicle, the contact determined that the rear differential had failed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V198000 (POWER TRAIN). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 81,127.

The Dealer did not complete this Safety Recall, They refused to follow up with the repair description of 73A which is part of this 66A they both have the same NHSTA Number. The vehicle seems to be more difficult to drive after getting it back from the dealer. I also noticed new cosmetic damages, and a missing cover under the fender-well. The vehicle was returned to me with an incomplete recall. The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and attempting to be started, the vehicle failed to start as intended. The contact stated that the gear shifter had seized in park. In addition, the check engine and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with ABS control module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that parts were no longer manufactured to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Since buying our 2016 Ram 1500 ecodiesel, we have had nothing but problems. In 2020 there was an EGR/coolant leak that was supposedly done. Upon getting the recall done, they said that the manufacturer has not yet made any equipment to fix the issue. They replaced our hose, but we have had to get it fixed almost annually since then. This is a lemon of a truck and FCA should be ashamed releasing a vehicle with so many issues and no fix in sight. It says our recall was "remedied", but even the service department said that there is no guaranteed fix because FCA has not released anything to actually fix this issue. We were without our truck for almost a month. Ridiculous. DO NOT BUY THIS TRUCK, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!

Husbands car started making a ticking noise and was loosing power while driving, so we brought it into the dealership. It will be $5796.58 to fix the rocker arms and camshaft. The estimate is for rocker arm roller failed damaging the camshaft. We are thankful that it has not caused any major incidents while driving that would casue serious harm to him and others on the road. Upon doing research we have found that this is a common issue with the engine that is in his Ram 1500, 2016. It was sold to us and we were not informed that this could be an issue. Again, we are thankful that he was not hurt before we were able to get it to the dealership.

The vehicle suddenly started performing very erratically on highway. After inspection the camshaft and lifters are very damaged and the engine is constantly misfiring. I have performed regular routine maintenance on this vehicle its whole life. There is no reason these parts should be damaged unless they were defective from the beginning.

This vehicle has had an open recall (22V-406) open since June 2022, Dodge Ram still hasn't provided enough parts to the dealers to fix this recall. The parts have been on back order for two years. Considering this vehicle is registered in California, soon this will lead to us not being able to renew our vehicle registration. Dodge Ram needs to produce and provide the parts necessary to remedy this recall, I feel that two years is sufficient time to get this completed.

I have a 2016 RAM 1500. At 50k miles, the ABS light and the brake light came on. The message states “service ABS braking system”. 
I went to NAPA to get the code read and they said that I need the ABS Electronic Brake Control Module and the Brake Fluid Pump assembly replaced and that it could be very dangerous to drive my truck and in fact, if I keep driving the truck without it being fixed it was a danger to myself and others. NAPA called to order the parts and they said that it was back ordered by 3 days. The date of was 5/21/2024. They have NO date when they will have the vital parts to make my truck stop in the manner and condition that I bought the truck. I went online to do some research and I found out thousands of people are waiting years to get these parts and for every model and year since approximately 2012. The Dodge RAM people are not making the parts. They say it’s under “engineering review” or that they are simply backordered, FOR YEARS!!! So let me get this straight, THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE DRIVING THEIR TRUCK ON THE ROAD IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION BECAUSE THE RAM PEOPLE “REFUSE” TO MANUFACTURE THE PARTS. This is what I’m being told. That my truck, that I paid a lot of money for and incidentally is paid off, doesn’t have the vital parts in it to make it stop effectively. I wrote to them to find out about the parts. The response that I got was telling me that the parts are no longer under warranty. I didn’t ask that question I asked when can I get the parts. And they never will answer the question. Why is this not under a number one priority for the safety of individuals and the general public? Why are people allowed to drive their RAM around when every one of the modules is failing in every RAM? I was told by NAPA that the modules are all failing around 50,000 miles. And again, they warned me not to drive my truck. How are we all supposed to get to work?

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the ABS, TPMS, trailer brake control unit, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but the part to repair the vehicle was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

1. The vehicle has steering issues and is no longer drive able. Steering difficulty began in mid to late August 2023. The steering is now impossible to use and vehicle to l is rendered inoperable. 2. Since purchasing the vehicle I have noticed the transmission is having issues shifting gears. The rpm will be high at speeds of 40-60mph, and the vehicle will only shift to a different gear if I take my foot off the gas pedal for an extended period of time. I had auto mechanic troubleshoot and repair what he thought was a dirty or faulty sensor. Issue continues.

I have tried to deal with the manufacture they said this is not in effect anymore, and my vehicle was not in it. I do not understand they recalled certain plants that made certain vehicles. Mine has same motor Same problems only 130,000 miles

While driving through mountainous terrain, my truck became unable to change gears and illuminated a check engine light and an electronic throttle control warning. I was able to limp it home to the dealership for repairs where they identified that the crankshaft tonewheel had delaminated. This exact issue is addressed in recall W68/NHTSA 20V-475 by FCA with the verbiage: "The magnetic material attached to the tone wheel on your vehicle provides a signal to the crankshaft position sensor. If this signal material is lost, the engine loses its ability to synchronize injector pulses and cam timing. This loss of crankshaft position can result in an engine stall, as well as loss of the ability to restart the engine. A loss of motive power can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." Incredulously, FCA will not reimburse me for the cost of the repairs because they did not include my VIN in their W68 recall announcement. The exact part failed in the exact manner outlined in this recall, but their method to avoid liability is to simply say my VIN wasn't affected by the manufacturing defect--which it obviously was. Instead, they included my affected VIN in their W58 recall--which like a safe driver I complied with immediately--that only consisted of a software flash and an extended mileage/time warranty on the part (should it fail), that of course failed within 2 months of the warranty period expiring. I cannot understand how NHTSA would allow FCA to exclude VINs from W68 that were clearly affected by this very same manufacturing defect, and instead loop in clearly affected VINs in a simple software flash with a limited extended warranty. I ask that NHTSA please hold FCA accountable for this manufacturing defect and correctly cover ALL affected VINs with recall W68/NHTSA 20V-475.

While driving at 70 MPH down I-90 in upstate New York, during rush hour traffic, my 2016 Ram 1500 eco diesel lost power (engine stopped). The truck lost power, including a loss in power steering. I was able to navigate the truck to the side of the road and a state trooper pull behind me while waiting for the tow truck. The truck would not start after this. There was no advanced warning for this failure. There were no warning lights, and before the engine stall, the truck was driving and behaving as it should. The truck was towed to a mechanic off the highway and later towed to Castilone Dodge in Batavia NY. The dealer found the magnetic perimeter of the tone wheel was flaking, which caused an issue with the driveshaft sensor, causing the truck to stall. Castilone found there is an existing recall on this for 2014-2019 RAM eco diesel trucks. The recall is for "Risk of delamination of crankshaft position sensor tone wheels". However, upon looking into this and calling RAM directly, RAM stated the recall only affects some VINs, and mine was not included. I spoke to two different people at RAM, who reiterated this. RAM claims that my truck received a good tone wheel, which was not included in the recall, and because of this, they refused to cover the repair and towing bill. The truck was taken to West Herr RAM in Lockport, NY, where they replaced the tone wheel for $1,760.65. I find it curious, that my truck experienced the same issue that was covered under recall warranty for other 2014-2018 RAM EcoDiesels. But my truck VIN was not captured in the recall. I asked RAM to investigate whether there are additional VINs that should be captured under the recall. They refused to escalate my request or do any additional research. I'm asking for help form the NHTSA to hold RAM accountable to at least determine if this issue impacts additional trucks.

2016 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L 4x4 6 speed. Transmission failed at 149000 kms. Highly maintained police fleet vehicle. Never towed any weights. Transmission failed . Both 4th and 5th gear + O/D clutch are bad.

And, again, there is no remedy, no parts available and unknown if or when they will be. . I'd like FCA to buy back this vehicle at the market value it was on June 09, 2022. It's wrong to have to have such serious issues wrong with a vehicle that are dangerously unsafe and potentially deadly.

My 2016 Ram 1500 Sport developed an exhaust leak originating from the exhaust manifold like many other Rams. I noticed it because I could hear a ticking noise upon starting the vehicle, specifically coming from the passenger side front wheel-well. The vehicle was brought to a local Ram dealer and was diagnosed as having multiple sheared studs on the passenger side exhaust manifold. Due to the truck being over 5 years old, the power train warranty no longer covers this. Ram is well aware of this issue but still refuses to initiate a recall. This issue presents a safety concern and has a potential to endanger myself and any other passengers who get in the vehicle due to raw engine exhaust fumes being released within the engine bay while the vehicle is running which could enter the cabin of the vehicle while in operation causing potential injury.

I have a truck that's been sitting, dangerous to drive for 8 months. i called but whoever i spoke with couldn't give me a timeline. if someone who knows could let me kno, i'd appreciate it

I've been trying for over three years to obtain a repair for severe lag in acceleration in my 2016 Dodge Ram Eco Diesel. It's a critical safety hazard. A recall was issued June 2022, but Dodge continues to say a remedy is not available. Dodge has known about this issue for several years, and still does not have a fix? As I said in my first complaint submitted Jan 2020 (11300317), how many lives will continue to be put at risk because of this issue? Please help.

Traveling at hwy speeds the vehicle lurched as if the brakes were suddenly slammed on then removed. Speed was reduced to 60 mph, no sounds or vibrations noticed so began accelerating back to hwy speeds. RPM kept building but speed was not increasing as normal. Within a few seconds loud banging under the vehicle was heard and half the drive shaft came out the back flipping end over end down the hwy. The shaft struck the grill of a jeep following me but no damage was seen upon inspection. The truck came to a relatively calm stop on the side of the road. Both halves of the drive shaft were recovered, one from the middle of the road, the other about 20 yards into the ditch. Rear diff was spilling fluid. All casings and covers seemed to be intact. Towed to Dealer, inspected and they said best they figure is the axle seized up, destroyed the diff, and shaft. They do not believe the transmission or transfer case were affected but can't be sure until new rear assembly and shaft installed. No one was injured in this event, although if the speed and height of the axle shaft flipping end over end down the hwy into the jeep was different serious injury could have occurred. Additionally, if a component of the rear assembly came off the truck could have come to a violent stop.

Driving 40 mph and suddenly motor died warnings for throttle and other flashing but coming around a curve was difficult to steer and stopped on curve and had to be pushed out of the way tried to start to no avail and had it towed to a local dealership where they determined it was a common problem with the tone wheel/ reluctor plate that apparently delaminates and loses part of a magnet on the outside which apparently they is a warranty expressly for this problem for 2014-2018 ram 1500 3.0 eco diesels which I’m being told by the dealership that chrysler says my vehicle is not covered ? Why I don’t understand.

On April 29, 2022 while driving 75mph pulling a trailer my truck (Ram 1500 3.0L Ecodiesel) lost full power and electrical. When taken to the dealership for repair, they found that the crank shaft position sensor tone ring attached to the flywheel had become delaminated and caused the entire truck to shut down. When I inquired about a separate recall NHTSA Recall No. : 20V-475, but was told that didn't include my truck. I believe that FCA did not include all the vehicles possible in the previous recall and are putting people at risk as a result.

The service electronic throttle control keeps coming on despite efforts to correct. The sensor was cleaned but the throttle control warning light continues to come on. The vehicle emissions are too high and impacting the power train. The vehicle loses power significantly and will not accelerate and the electronic throttle control warning light will come on. This issue is dangerous to the wellbeing of drivers as the loss of acceleration could increase risk of collision. Based on reading forums about the 2015-2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is notorious for this occurring. This is endangering the lives of all owners as there is no indication that this is going to occur, and no recall has been issued.

There is an open recall for certain vin#'s 20v-475 that happened to my vehicle and according to message boards a lot of other vehicles that have the failure of the tone wheel to the exact way the recall is listed but for some reason the vin does't fall under the recall. My vehicle had a complete shut down without warning or noises while driving at highway speeds on a windy narrow parkway with minimal shoulder. If I wasn't driving in the right lane at the time my situation could've been even more dangerous than it already was. I don't understand how a part that that is used in all ecodiesel engines from 2014-2018 and has a known failure is supposedly only affecting a small percentage of engines when they all have the same part. I have searched message board after message board and have found a lot of listings of this part failure all on vin's that for some reason aren't on the recall. As a SAFETY precaution letters should've went out to all ecodiesel vehicles within those years to at least alert drivers theres a potential for this failure. If it wasn't for the fuel pump recall that they do not have a fix for, I wouldn't have been as aware of m vehicle possibly shutting down without warning. Again I think as a SAFETY precaution letters should be sent to all ecodiesel owners alerting them of this possible engine failure that could endanger their lives and open an investigation to see why a part used in all of the vehicles only affects certain ones when it is obviously failing in all ecodiesel engines.

While traveling at highway speeds on a narrow parkway with minimal shoulders, the vehicle without warning or noise shut down, almost causing a major accident and I wouldn't have been able to get to the shoulder if I wasn't in the right lane. The shoulder barely had room for my truck putting myself and other vehicles at risk. There was ABSOLUTELY no warning that my car was going to completely shut down, no lights illuminated on my dash until i was on the grass and the engine was dead. The dealership confirms the exact issue was a failure of the Magnetic tone wheel that has a NHTSA Recall# 20V-475, that is an identical symptom and diagnosis to my exact issue. The dealership Meadowlands of Carmel (845)225-8468 [XXX] in the service department quoted me $1,600.00 plus tax to replace the magnetic tone wheel. I am also a government employee and I am unable to get to work. My engine type and year (2016) is identical to this recall stated above (20V-475), but for some reason that no one at RAM Customer Service or the RAM Recall Department can identify why my VIN number is excluded from a recall that my VIN is clearly a part of. I had ZERO symptoms, warnings before I could have been potentially killed. My kids were thankfully not in the car with me. I feel this is well within the spectrum of my VIN number qualifying to participate in this recall coverage, as well as other RAMS who may not even be aware of this without doing their own research of the circumstances and symptoms. The first sign of a problem was when my touch screen radio would randomly shut off and then turn back on again. As it would get hotter it would happen more often. Then the turn signals would have trouble flickering. The check engine light would show up and I've tried getting that figured out. When I was driving it would tell me "service transmission continue in D. Do not shift or turn engine off until you reach a desired location. You may not be able to shift again until serviced" with a blinking exclamation point. It would occasionally also say "service shifter" and sometimes when I would start it, it shuts off immediately. The worse part of all is when I was driving it doesn't automatically shift gears so I have to pull over and shut the truck off to be able to shift at the speel limit speed. This was all happening repeatedly 6 months ago before I dropped it off at the 2nd dodge dealership. The first one gave up on finding the problem. 1 year later and it's only gotten worse, aside from all the money spent.

The claim that my vehicle is not included in the recall. There seems to be no question that the issue of Tone Wheel Delamination is broader in scope that described in W68 and I am petitioning an expansion of that recall to include all vehicles that potentially have this issue.

When traveling at speed, the vehicle shudders or bucks as if the engine cuts out briefly, then resumes normally for a few seconds, then does it again. It creates a hazard on the highway as I attempt to move to the side of the road or travel slowly to avoid damaging the vehicle further. I took the vehicle to the local dealer and they diagnosed a Delaminated Tone Wheel, the same exact issue as described in Safety Recall W68 / NHTSA 20V-475. The claim that my vehicle is not included in the recall, because it was manufactured 6/07/2016, which is just outside the date window of included vehicles. There seems to be no question that the issue of Tone Wheel Delamination is broader in scope that described in W68 and I am petitioning an expansion of that recall to include all vehicles that potentially have this issue. Both the dealer and FCA refuse to cover the cost of the repairs at this time.

Was pulling in to a parking lot when the vehicle made a warning sound and then displayed "Check Engine" and "Service Shifter" messages on dash. The truck then would not shift in to any other gear but drive. it displayed that it was in park but stayed in gear and almost caused me to drive in to a pedestrian. The shift lights on the dash for the gears (P, N,R, D) all flashed randomly as if there was an electrical issue. Eventually I was able to set the brake, turn off the truck, restart it, and it finally changed gears. I took the vehicle to the dealer the next business day and they told me looking at the codes, that the shift module needs to be replaced. From what I have read online in forums this is an EXTREMELY common safety issue affecting the shifting/drivability of the vehicle. Per dealer, this is not related to the recall affecting the shifter on the vehicle. I contacted Ram care and they advised there was nothing they could do for me either. Total repair is going to be over $1,000 and I have no idea if this is even the issue or when it will happen again.

I was driving 50 mph down the road, when I started to accelerate (pass) around another vehicle when it just died. Got the check engine light along with oil pressure low warning. Coasted to a stop a ways down the road trying to get off on the side of the road. My 2016 Ram 1500 would not start after that. I put my Bosch code reader on the truck and it flashed P0366 which called out for the Crank Shaft sensor. Had truck towed to local dealer. This looks like it falls under the same recall as W58. In the process of getting the dealership to take responsibility of the situation and file a claim with their corporate office, because my particular VIN doesn't match their records of having this issue.

On August 28, 2021, I was driving towards Huntsville, TX, on Hwy 30, a rural divided highway with two lanes in each direction. The speed limit is 70. The truck was empty except for me, and a few tools. I had the cruise control set at 60 mph and was going up a slight hill when then truck suddenly and violently popped out of gear. At first, I thought someone had hit me from behind. Fortunately, there was nobody close to me and I coasted to the side of the road and stopped. After a few minutes trying to calm down and read the truck manual--I never turned the engine off-- I followed the instructions to shift back to P (Park) and then select a gear. I did this and the bell ringing and flashing lights stopped. So I shifted to drive and took off again. This time I did not use the cruise control--just slowly got back up to speed. Then BOOM! Once again, around 60mph about 4 miles down the road, the truck popped out of gear a second time violently and suddenly with no warning. Once again, I coasted to a stop and just sat there halfway freaked out. Finally, I turned the emergency blinkers on and crept into Huntsville at 30 mph. The next day, Sunday, August 29, I started the truck to see what would happen, and the Check Engine light was no longer lit up. I phoned the Wischnewsky Dodge dealership in Huntsville, TX, and the Service Manager Chris Lovelady said I could bring the truck in and he would read the codes at no charge. On Friday, September 3, I met Service Manager Chris Lovelady at 11am and he downloaded the codes. I took a picture of the three codes (file uploaded below). He said the significant code of the three was P0984 Shift Solenoid 5 Control Circuit Range/Performance. He stated that since the codes were 'Stored' and not 'Active', he could not work on the truck--he said I had to drive it some more. If this incident had happened on the crowded freeway in Houston where I live, there most certainly would have been a wreck.

I PURCHASED MY USED 2016 RAM 1500 BIG HORN A OF MONTH AGO IN THE END OF JANUARY 2021. IT HAD JUST OVER 70,000 MILES. WHEN I TEST-DROVE THE VEHICLE, IT RAN SMOOTHLY. AT LEAST I DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING ODD ABOUT THE WAY IT DROVE. THE CARFAX REPORT SAID IT HAD FOUR RECALLS, ONE OF WHICH WAS A FLASH/REPROGRAM OF THE COMPUTER MODULE. IT WASN'T LONG BEFORE I NOTICED, LIKE OTHER RAM 1500 OWNERS, THAT IT SEEMED TO LURCH FORWARD WHEN COMING TO A STOP. I ALSO NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE, IT WILL IMMEDIATELY LURCH FORWARD BEFORE MY FOOT EVEN GETS TO THE ACCELERATOR. AT ONE INTERSECTION WHERE I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, I BELIEVED THAT THE CAR BEHIND ME HAD REAR-ENDED ME. WHEN I STOPPED TO LOOK AT THE DAMAGE, THERE WAS NONE. I HAD NOT EVEN BEEN REAR-ENDED. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE, IS THAT THE ENGINE SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE IT IS STRUGGLING WHEN I AM CRUISING AT ABOUT 1,200-1,500 RPM'S, AS IF IT IS IN TOO HIGH A GEAR. WHEN I HIT THE ACCELERATOR TO PASS OR SPEED UP, IT HESITATES, DOWNSHIFTS AND EVENTUALLY ROARS TO LIFE. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT. THEY DROVE IT AROUND. THEY TOLD ME TO COME AND PICK IT UP ON THE FOLLOWING DAY. WHEN I GOT THERE, THE SERVICE ASSOCIATE TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD "RESET THE ADAPTATIONS AND UPDATED THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE." THE 'ADAPTATIONS' IS APPARENTLY SOMETHING THAT THE COMPUTER DOES TO ADAPT TO THE DRIVER'S DRIVING HABITS. THEY SAID THAT THE VEHICLE WAS 'USED' TO THE DRIVING HABITS OF THE PREVIOUS OWNER, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. I SPOKE WITH THE TRANSMISSION TECHNICIAN, WHO ALSO OWNS A RAM WITH THE 5.7L HEMI. HE TOLD ME THAT HIS DOES THE SAME THING, AND THAT "THEY ALL DO IT." HE SAID TO CHECK BACK IN A FEW MONTHS TO SEE IF DODGE HAS DISCOVERED A FIX FOR IT. NOW I AM STUCK WITH A $25,000, THAT HAS A PROBLEM THAT IS PUTTING ALL KINDS OF STRESS ON CRITICAL PARTS AND I HAVE NO RECOURSE.

I OWN ONE OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES AND THOUGHT PROMPT ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN BY THE MANUFACTURER. I WAS INITIALLY TOLD THERE WAS A DELAY MANUFACTURING AND SHIPPING THE PARTS. I HAD MY NAME ADDED TO A LIST AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP LAST YEAR. UPON RECEIVING AN "URGENT SAFETY RECALL" NOTICE FROM FCA THIS WEEK, I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT COULD BE UP TO A YEAR (OCT - NOV 2021 TIMEFRAME) BEFORE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO FIX MY VEHICLE. BASED ON ONLINE REPORTS, SOME OWNERS ARE HAVING THEIR VEHICLES FIXED QUICKLY, WHILE OTHER OWNERS, LIKE MYSELF, ARE BEING FORCED TO WAIT A UP TO TWO YEARS TO HAVE THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ADDRESSED. ALLOWING A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD TO BE DRIVEN ON PUBLIC ROADS IS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD EXPECT THE NHTSA TO CONDONE. THE DEALER LATER REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED BUT THE FAILURE LATER REOCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 4,000 MILES LATER. THE VALVE BODY WAS REPLACED FOR THE 2ND TIME AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPROGRAMMED BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

IN ORDER TO REGISTER MY VEHICLE IN CALIFORNIA I WAS FORCED TO ACCEPT THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL. AFTER THIS RECALL, I HAVE NOTICED SUBSTANTIAL LAG BETWEEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AND BETWEEN WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN TWO ACCIDENTS NOW BECAUSE I ATTEMPTED TO EXECUTE A LEFT TURN AND EVEN THOUGH I WAS DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE SLUGGISHLY ROLLED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND THEN 2-3 SECONDS LATER, ACCELERATED RAPIDLY MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN LANE INTEGRITY WHILE NAVIGATING THE TURN. I GENERALLY DRIVE FAIRLY MODESTLY WHICH IS WHY THERE HAVE BEEN ONLY TWO LIFE-THREATENING INCIDENTS IN THE PAST 3 OR SO MONTHS THAT I HAVE HAD THE "UPDATE". MEANING, I CURRENTLY HAVE A VERY HIGH RISK OF GETTING T-BONED AT INTERSECTIONS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DOESN'T TAKE OFF. I CURRENTLY HAVE A CLAIM OPEN WITH CHRYSLER BUT THEIR CASE MANAGER CLAIMS THAT PARTS TO FIX THE ISSUE IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. THIS EMISSION UPDATE WAS DONE BACK IN JUNE 2019. B- VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND CREATE VERY HIGH COOLANT SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN. AFTER COMPLYING WITH THE V08 (AEM) SOFTWARE UPDATE DUE TO THE RAM ECODIESEL EMISSIONS UPDATE MY DRIVING EXPERIENCE/PERFORMANCE HAS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY. DURING ACCELERATION THEIR HAS BEEN ANYWHERE FROM 3-6 DELAY SECONDS BEFORE ADEQUATE POWER AND SPEED CAN BE FELT. THIS IS AT A FULL STOP SUCH AS A STOP SIN OR RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. DURING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC (PASSING) OR MERGING INTO A LANE IS WERE IS MOST NOTICEABLE. THIS FAILURE OCCURS EVEN WHEN ENGINE IS PROPERLY AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE AND IS WORSE RIGHT AFTER START UP. SINCE MULTIPLE PEOPLE USE THEIR TRUCKS FOR TOWING PURPOSES, THIS GREATLY INCREASES THE EFFECT AND EVEN FURTHER DECREASES THE PERFORMANCE THAT IS RELIED UPON. THE AEM SOFTWARE UPDATE SPECIFICALLY STATES "THE AEM IS NOT EXPECTED TO CHANGE ANY OF YOUR KEY VEHICLE ATTRIBUTES, SUCH AS AVERAGE FUEL ECONOMY, RELIABILITY, DURABILITY, VEHICLE PERFORMANCE, DRIVABILITY, ENGINE NOISE OR VIBRATION, OR OTHER DRIVING CHARACTERISTICS." THIS DIRECTLY CONTRADICTS THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REMEDY REQUIREMENTS. DUE TO THE FAILED INSTANT ACCELERATION AS WELL AS TAKING UP TO 3500 RPM BEFORE FORWARD MOVEMENT CAN BE ESTABLISHED IN SOME INSTANCES HAS LED ME TO FORMALLY CREATE AND RECORD A SAFETY CONCERN THAT REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. THIS 2016 3.0L ECO DIESEL IS A DEATH TRAP AFTER FCA REPROGRAMED THE SOFTWARE 2 MONTHS AGO. 2-4 SECOND HESITATION WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS. THE TRUCK JUST SITS THERE AND DOES NOT MOVE. IN TWO MONTHS I HAVE HAD 3 CLOSE CALLS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. EXTREMELY SCARY WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENS AND A CAR IS COMING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT YOU AT 55 MPH AND YOU'RE SECONDS FROM GETTING T-BONED. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE PEOPLE START DYING IN THIS DEATH TRAP. THE DIESEL HAD MANY PROBLEMS BEFORE THEY REPROGRAMED IT. SINCE NEW THE TRUCK HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE 4 TIMES WHERE THE ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON AND THE MOTOR SHUTS DOWN TO ABOUT 10 MPG. LAST TIME I ALMOST GOT KILLED ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. YOU'RE STUCK ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 5-10 MPH TRYING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY WHEN CARS ARE FLYING PAST YOU AT 70 MPH. THESE 3.0L DODGE ECO DIESELS ARE VERY, VERY, VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. AFTER THE REPROGRAMING FROM FCA THEY HAVE A VERY DANGEROUS TURBO LAG TIME. FCA HAS DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. THE REPROGRAMING OF THE SOFTWARE MADE THEM WORSE AND MORE DANGEROUS. BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY DESIGNED THIS ECO DIESEL, IT IS PRONE TO CATCH FIRE. ON MY TRUCK I HAD A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD AND A HOLE MELTED THROUGH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. LUCKILY, THE TRUCK DID NOT BURST INTO FLAMES BUT IT WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS BEING REPAIRED. THIS TRUCK IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE TRUCK NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND IF FCA CAN'T FIX THEM, THEY NEED TO BUY THEM BACK AND GET THESE DEATH TRAPS OFF THE ROAD. SORRY, I CAN'T DESCRIBE JUST A SINGLE SPECIFIC INSTANCE, IT'S DANGEROUS EVERY TIME YOU GET BEHIND THE WHEEL. I OWN A 2016 RAM 1500 ECO DIESEL. I RECENTLY GOT A RECALL (V08 I BELIEVE) THAT GREATLY EFFECTED THE THROTTLE RESPONSE AND FUEL MILEAGE ON MY TRUCK. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK 22 AUGUST 2019, AN 8 MILE DRIVE. I WENT TO ACCELERATE TO REACH POSTED SPEED LIMIT AFTER TURNING OFF OF A SIDE STREET ONTO MAIN ROAD. I HAD NO FORWARD MOMENTUM WHEN I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES TO MANUALLY SHIFT GEARS THINKING IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP TO RPM BUT STILL BARELY ANY FORWARD MOMENTUM. I WAS LOSING SPEED QUICKLY. SOMETHING GRABBED MY ATTENTION, NOT SURE IF I HEARD SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY BUT I HAPPENED TO LOOK OUT MY REVIEW AND SIDE MIRRORS AND NOTICE A HUGE PLUME OF SMOKE EXITING MY VEHICLE. AT ABOUT THAT SAME MOMENT, I NOTICED A LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT FROM THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF, I STILL NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE BILLOWING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND FRONT WHEEL WELLS. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT TO BE A COOLANT HOSE RUPTURE DUE TO THE COLOR OF THE SMOKE/STEAM. I IMMEDIATELY JUMPED OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD THINKING IT WAS A COOLANT ISSUE. RIGHT AWAY I NOTICED A FLAME AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE. I HAD NO ACCESS TO WATER WHERE I WAS LOCATED AND MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO BLOW IT OUT. THE SEVERE TURBO LAG IS CAUSING UNSAFE CONDITIONS WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. THE LACK OF ACCELERATION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PRESSED IS PRESENT WHEN STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, AS WELL AS AT VARYING TRAVEL SPEEDS. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS ON CITY STREETS OR WHEN MERGING INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, BECAUSE THERE IS LITTLE TO NO ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE, EVEN UNDER FULL THROTTLE FOR BETWEEN FOUR AND SEVEN SECONDS. THE LAG IS SEVERE EVEN AT FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURES ABOVE 200 DEGREES. THESE ISSUES WERE NOT PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE V08/AEM RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER HAS INSISTED THAT THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AFTER THE V08 AEM RECALL, BUT THE VEHICLE OPERATED WITHOUT THESE ISSUES BEFORE THE WORK WAS COMPLETED.

THE TRUCK WILL NOT ACCELERATE, IT HAS ALMOST NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND IT NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL ITS WARM I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT SEVERAL TIMES, EVEN A SLOW UNDER POWERED MOPED WOULD SCOOT FASTER THAN THIS TRUCK WHEN ITS NOT UP TO OPERATING TEMP. THIS HAS ALL TAKEN PLACE AFTER THE EMISSIONS UPDATE DONE TO THE TRUCK BEFORE PREDELIVERY. I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS GOING TO DRIVE LIKE THIS I HAVE BANNED FAMILY AND FRIENDS FROM DRIVING IT. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT DRIVES AS IT SHOULD "POST UPDATE" THE LACK OF PEDAL RESPONSE IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED. THERE ARE NO ENGINE CODES, DEALER SAYS ITS FINE AND HAS AN PERFECT MAINTENANCE HISTORY. TODAY IT WAS A BIT COOLER OUTSIDE THAN IT HAS BEEN IN RECENT MONTHS, KNOWING THE TRUCKS CHARACTERISTICS I USED REMOTE START TO WARM IT UP. IT RAN FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES BEFORE I LEFT, I DROVE DOWN ABOUT A 1000FT PRIVATE ROAD TO A 4 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY THAT I PULL OUT ONTO SEVERAL TIMES A DAY AND HAVE BEEN FOR TWO DECADES. NO CARS WERE COMING EXCEPT A WHITE MAZDA ABOUT TWO FIRELANES AWAY FROM ME SO MORE THAN ENOUGH ROOM, I COULD HAVE WALKED ACROSS THE ROAD. I PRESSED THE PEDAL AND THH TRUCK FELL ON ITS FACE AND TOPPED OUT AT 10 MPH UNTIL I MADE IT TO THE CENTER MEDIAN TO COMPLETE MY LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE HAS TO MOVE INTO THE RIGHT LANE TO AVOID HITTING ME, THEY WERE BEING ABUNDANTLY CAUTIOUS BUT THIS IS NOT HOW A VEHICLE SHOULD RESPOND TO THROTTLE INPUT DURING WARM UP OR NOT. IT IS A DIESEL AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THEM MY WHOLE LIFE, I KNOW THEIR COLD BEHAVIOR AND THIS VEHICLE IS BROKEN. FCA SAYS ITS NORMAL.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE COULD HAVE OPTED OUT OF THE EMISSION REPAIR, WHICH HE FELT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THEY HAVE REPLACED BOTH REAR UPPER AND LOWER TRAILING ARMS, 2 SETS OF ALL NEW TIRES, ONE SET NORMALLY BALANCED AND ONE SET WAS ROAD FORCE BALANCED, HAVE CHANGED OUT WHEELS, REPLACED SHOCKS, AND STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRAILING ARMS UNDER WARRANTY THE REST HAS BEEN PAID FOR BY ME OUT OF POCKET. IT IS A DRIVE TRAIN ISSUE HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP HAS STOPPED LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM. I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED AS I HAVE NO RECOURSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND CAN'T KEEP PAYING FOR ALL THESE PARTS OUT OF POCKET. IT IS NOT SAFE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IN THE RAIN TAKING CORNERS WHEN IT STARTS SHAKING. I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR EVERYTHING AND CAN GET DEALER DOCUMENTATION IF NEEDED.

THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE UNTIL AFTER THE EMISSIONS RECALL WAS CONDUCTED ON THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY WITH THE ENGINE COOLANT UNDER 150 DEGREES F. AFTER THE TEMP REACHES 150 DEGREES F THE ISSUE SEEMS TO SUBSIDE AND GO AWAY.

I WAS TOLD BY THE TECH HE HAS NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUES WITH THIS BEING DONE AND THE ONLY THING HE HAS HEARD IS AN IMPROVEMENT OF MPG. WELL I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK FOR 2 DAYS NOW AND I'VE NOTICED A DECREASE OF ALMOST 2 MPG WHICH I KIND OF EXPECTED UNLIKE HIS CLAIM OF IMPROVED MPG. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT NOW WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP IT TAKES ALMOST 7 SECONDS FOR THROTTLE RESPONSE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IN MY OPINION! I HAVE A FORWARD MOVEMENT AFTER STOP ( LIKE SOMEBODY REAR ENDED ME , GET BUMPED TO ) AND NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT HARD DOWNSHIFTING. WINDOW CLIPS HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOR DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE THEY EITHER BREAK OR COME OFF AND HAVE TO BE REPAIRED WITH NEW CLIPS EACH TIME. IF THEY ARE NOT REPLACED, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE WINDOW WILL CRASH INSIDE THE DOOR IF ATTEMPT IS MADE TO ROLL DOWN OR ROLL UP THE POWER WINDOW. BACK IN THE END OF AUGUST/BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER 2016 I TOOK MY 2016 RAM 1500 IN FOR SHIFTING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF WAITING THEY REPLACED THE VALVE ASSEMBLY PART ON THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER 3 DAYS I NOTICED I COULD NOT GET OUT OF 1ST GEAR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IN EASLEY SC AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT SO THEY CAN TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM AGAIN. ON 9/17/2016 IT WAS DETERMINED TO HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION AND I WAS TOLD THAT RAM WAS REPLACING WITH A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION, HOWEVER THERE WAS NOT AN ETA FOR DELIVERY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE LOCAL REP WOULD FOLLOW UP ON THE STATUS AND NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM EITHER. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE CASE MANAGERS AND THEY CAN NOT EVEN GET AN ETA FOR THE PART. THE TRUCK ALSO NEEDS (2) RECALLS CORRECTED AS WELL. II ASKED ABOUT A LOANER AND WAS TOLD UNTIL THEY HAVE AN ETA ON THE PART THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE A LOANER. SO I AM NOT FORCED TO DRIVE A TRUCK WITH A BAD TRANSMISSION. ALSO I WANT TO MENTION THAT THE TRUCK IS BEING REPAIRED UNDER THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE'S WARRANTY. MY EXTENDED MOPAR WARRANTY HAS NOT EVEN KICKED IN YET. SO BASICALLY I HAVE A TRUCK THAT THE COMPANY CAN NOT GET A MAJOR PART UNDER THE WARRANTY. I CAN BARELY GET OUT OF 1ST GEAR AND WHEN IT DOES I SUFFER A VERY HARD JOLT WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 80 DEGREASE OUTSIDE SO I ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS TO HALF AND LEFT THE TRUCK RUNNING IN PARK TO KEEP THE A/C ON FOR THE DOG. IN THIS PARKING LOT WE WERE THE ONLY VEHICLE PARKED NEAR BY AND THERE WAS NO PARKING BLOCK IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK. WE WERE IN THE STORE APPROXIMATELY 20 MIN LOOKING FOR A COUNTERTOP THEN WENT TO SIT DOWN WITH THE SALES SPECIALIST. ABOUT 5 MIN INTO THAT CONVERSATION THE SECRETARY IN THE FRONT YELLED "YOUR TRUCK IS DRIVING OFF". I IMMEDIATELY RAN OUT THE DOOR TO FIND MY TRUCK ABOUT 25 YARDS AWAY AND ACROSS THE MAIN ROAD. THE ROAD DID NOT HAVE CURBS BUT DID HAVE STEEP CULVERTS ON BOTH SIDES (NOTE: I WOULD NOT THINK A TRUCK AT IDLE WOULD MAKE IT UP TO THE ROAD) THE TRUCK "TOOK OFF" PER 3 WORKERS THAT WERE NEAR BY IN THE LOT MOVING A LARGE SLAB OF GRANITE, AND A SIMI DRIVER WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD STATING THAT BOTH MY RAM AND HIS TRACTOR HIT TIRES AND THAT'S WHAT GOT MY TRUCK TO STOP. EVERYONE THAT WITNESSED THIS STATED THE DOG WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AND NO ONE GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. AS I APPROACHED THE TRUCK IT SOUNDED TO BE RUNNING AT IDLE AND WHEN I GRABBED THE DOOR HANDLE THE LOCKS UNLOCKED AS NORMAL. I FOUND THE TRUCK IN DRIVE AND RPM AT NORMAL IDLE RANGE. THE TRUCK ALLOWED ME TO PUT IT BACK IN PARK. I THEN RESTARTED THE TRUCK, MOVED IT BACK TO THE PARKING LOT. THE BUSINESS HAS SECURITY CAMERA FOOTAGE OF THIS SHOWING HOW MY TRUCK UN TAMPERED WITH WENT FROM IDLE AND PARK FOR 25ISH MIN TO DRIVING ACROSS THE ROAD AND I AM CURRENTLY PERUSING A COPY OF THE TAPE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND I WAS TOLD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT LATE NEXT WEEK (EARLIEST AVAILABLE) FOR AN INSPECTION, AND UNTIL THEN TO SET THE PARKING BRAKE EVERY TIME. TRUCK APPEARS TO BE DRIVING AS NORMAL. THE STORE WAS AROUND 15 MILES AWAY, TRUCK WAS PARKED ALL NIGHT LEADING UP TO EVENT.

NEVER STATED OR SHARED WHAT THE OCR RESULTS SHOWED.THIS COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE AND THE ROTARY SHIFTER IS A PROBLEM.A FEW DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT WHILE DRIVING ON A BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY THE WIPERS START UP FULL BOAR LIKE IT WAS POURING OUT.THEY WERE IN THE OFF POSITION. ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, 2017, MY 2016 DODGE RAM 1500 PICKUP TRUCK WAS PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING IN A BOAT RAMP WITH MY BOAT TRAILER ATTACHED AND BACKED INTO THE WATER NEXT TO THE DOCK. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ON. I EXITED THE VEHICLE, WALKED DOWN THE BOAT DOCK, STEPPED TO THE BACK OF MY BOAT, WALKED TO THE FRONT OF THE BOAT, CLIMBED DOWN TO THE TONGUE OF THE TRAILER, PULLED OUT THE STRAP AND ATTACHED IT TO MY BOAT, BEGAN TO CRANK THE BOAT TO THE FRONT OF THE TRAILER, WHEN SUDDENLY THE TRUCK STARTED ROLLING BACKWARD INTO THE WATER. BY THE TIME I COULD JUMP FROM THE TONGUE OF THE TRAILER, CLIMB ON THE DOCK, DIVE INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW, CRAWL ACROSS TO THE DRIVERS SEAT AND TRY TO STOP AND START THE TRUCK, IT WAS TOO LATE. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START AND I COULD NOT STOP IT BECAUSE IT WAS BEGINNING TO FLOAT. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO THE LAKE, DESPITE BEING IN PARK. THE ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION MUST HAVE MOVED FROM PARK TO NEUTRAL OR REVERSE TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE NEARLY SUBMERGED. ALL OF THE WINDOWS WERE OPENED AND THE VEHICLE FILLED WITH WATER TO WITHIN APPROXIMATELY ONE FOOT FROM THE CEILING OF THE CAB. WHEN THE VEHICLE AND TRAILER WERE TOWED OUT OF THE WATER, THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN PARK AND COULD NOT BE PUT INTO NEUTRAL. IT WAS DRAGGED IN PARK FOR ABOUT 50 YARDS TO CLEAR IT FROM THE BUSY BOAT RAMP. THE MANISTEE COUNTY SHERIFF COMPLAINT # FOR THIS ACCIDENT IS: 151-1628-17. PICTURES ARE ATTACHED. AAA INSURANCE HAS DECLARED THE TRUCK A TOTAL LOSS.

UNPREDICTABLE AND SOMETIME VIOLENT DOWNSHIFTING CAUSING MOMENTARY LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING IN WET, SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING THROUGH RAIN STORMS. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO EXHIBIT ERRATIC SHIFTING BEHAVIOR AT ~5,000 MILES AND HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE TO A POINT THAT THE TRANSMISSION UNPREDICTABLE SHIFTING OCCURS IN ALL CONDITIONS. THE IMPACT OF THE SHIFTS IS SEVERE ENOUGH THAT IT IS BEING TRANSMITTED THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SEAT CREATING EXTREME DISCOMFORT AND PAIN TO THE LOWER BACK. A 'SERVICE SHIFTER' MESSAGE IS ALSO BEING DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHY THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' MESSAGE IS COMING ON BECAUSE NO TROUBLE CODES ARE SHOWING; THEY RE-FLASHED THE CPU TO SEE IF WOULD CORRECT THE ERRATIC AND UNPREDICTABLE SHIFTING, IT IS NOT WORKING, IN FACT IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MAY HAVE A DEFECTIVE DRIVESHAFT WHICH MAY BE CONTRIBUTING TO THE HARSH SHIFTING, THEY HAVE ONE ORDER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED OUT OF THE WATER AND THEN TOWED TO A LOT WHERE IT WAS AWAITING INSPECTION BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INQUIRED ABOUT THE STATUS OF NHTSA INVESTIGATION: PE-16-014 AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS STILL AN OPEN INVESTIGATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,800.

COMING HOME FROM WORK ON JANUARY 5, 2017, I PULLED MY 2016 RAM 1500 PICKUP PART WAY INTO MY GARAGE, TURNED THE ROTARY SHIFTER TO PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAD A CLEAR PATH OF TRAVEL TO FULLY PULL THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE. MY DRIVEWAY IS AN UPSLOPE AND A PORTION OF THE TRUCK WAS STILL IN THE DRIVEWAY. AFTER I EXITED THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO MOVE BACKWARD. THE VEHICLE'S DOOR THREW ME TO THE GROUND AND SWEPT MY LEGS UNDER THE TRUCK.THE FRONT LEFT TIRE RAN OVER BOTH OF MY LEGS. THE TRUCK CONTINUED DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY, ACROSS THE STREET, THROUGH OUR NEIGHBOR'S FENCE AND ONLY STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A TREE IN THEIR FRONT YARD. TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED FOR A LEAK AT THE TRANSFER TUBES BETWEEN HEAT EXCHANGER AND TRANSMISSION CASE 09/25/2016. TRUCK WENT IN FOR SERVICE 14,381 AND AGAIN TRANSMISSION LEAK NEEDED TO BE FIXED. TRANSMISSION PAN GASKET DRAIN PLUG AND FLUID REPLACED 02/01/17. TRUCK IN NOW AT 16,235 05/31/2017 AND IS GOING IN AGAIN FOR A TRANSMISSION LEAK.

THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT KNOB HAS FAILED TO KEEP VEHICLE IN PARK ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS. IN ADDITION, IT IS PLACED TOO CLOSE TO THE A/C FAN CONTROL KNOB. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK FROM DRIVE, AND AS I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AFTER IT WAS IN PARK, THE TRANSMISSION MOVED BACK TO DRIVE. LUCKILY, MY FOOT WAS STILL HOVERING OVER THE BRAKE AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK. ON THE SECOND OCCASION, AS I WAS PLACING THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK FROM DRIVE, I PLACED IT INTO PARK, HEARD THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGE, AND SIMULTANEOUSLY REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE. AGAIN, IT JUMPED BACK INTO DRIVE, BUT MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ONE THING TO ADD CONCERNING THE PLACEMENT AS TOO CLOSE TO THE A/C FAN CONTROL, I ACTUALLY REACHED OVER AS TURNING TO OPEN MY DOOR AND TURNED THE A/C FAN TO THE LEFT (OFF) WHICH IS THE SAME DIRECTION AS PLACING THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK FROM DRIVE. IT DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT AND I LOOKED AND REALIZED I WAS CONTROLLING THE A/C.

I EXPERIENCED A 'ROLL AWAY' EVENT AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK VIA THE GEAR KNOB SELECTOR WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. AFTER ENGAGING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, OPENING THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND STEPPING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, IT ROLLED FORWARD CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE SOME 30 FEET AHEAD. THE INITIAL POSITION OF THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE A LARGE COMMERCIAL GARAGE. WHEN THE VEHICLE BECAME DISENGAGED FROM PARK, IT ROLLED FORWARD THROUGH THE GARAGE DOORS AND INTO THE GARAGE SPACE UNTIL CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE (PARKED). AFTER REALIZING THE VEHICLE HAD DROPPED OUT OF PARK AND WAS MOVING FORWARD, I TRIED TO JUMP BACK INTO THE CAB TO APPLY THE BRAKES. I WAS UNABLE TO FULLY CATCH UP TO THE TRUCK, SLIPPED ON THE RUNNING BOARD/RAIL AND SLID UNDERNEATH THE MOVING VEHICLE -- INJURING MY ANKLE AND SHIN. FORTUNATELY, THE RAM WAS STOPPED JUST BEFORE RUNNING OVER MY LEGS BY THE PARKED VEHICLE AHEAD. I HAVE SECURITY SURVEILLANCE VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT. I HAVE SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE'S FRONT CHROME BUMPER FROM THE CRASH AND NOW HAVE LITTLE CONFIDENCE THAT THE TRUCK IS SAFE TO OPERATE. IT SITS VIRTUALLY UNUSED SINCE THE INCIDENT. I WAS HOPING TO GET CLARITY, ASSURANCE, ALONG WITH A SAFETY FIX AND BODY REPAIR FROM THE MANUFACTURER SO THAT I COULD FEEL CONFIDENT IN DRIVING IT AGAIN. I HAVE CONTACTED FCA AND OPENING A FORMAL CASE ON THIS INCIDENT. THEIR WRITTEN RESPONSE WAS TO QUOTE THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND INDICATE THE PARK IS ONLY A SUPPLEMENT TO THE PARKING BREAK. THIS RESPONSE IS UNSAFE, IMPRACTICAL AND UNACCEPTABLE.

I WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. HOWEVER THEY DID DO A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS ALL WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH THAT I HAD THE VEHICLE (BRAND-NEW ).

AT APPROXIMATELY 4700 MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HARSHLY SHIFT FROM 2ND GEAR TO 1ST GEAR WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP, IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC OR PULLING IN TO A PARKING SPACE. THE VEHICLE WILL LUNGE FORWARD WHEN THIS OCCURS FEELING AS THE VEHICLE WAS TAPPED FROM BEHIND. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED FOR SERVICE AT THE ORIGINAL SELLING DEALER WHO ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND PROCEEDED TO PERFORM A "QUICK LEARN" PROCEDURE WHICH RE-CALIBRATES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT PATTERNS. UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE AFTER THIS SERVICE NOTICED IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. SCHEDULED ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WHERE THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY AND CONTROLLER. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS THE ISSUE RETURNED. THE RAM FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE COORDINATED FOR THE TRUCK TO BE DROPPED OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP SO HE COULD SEE THE PROBLEM. I PROVIDED DETAILED INFORMATION OF EXACTLY WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AND SPECIFICALLY THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE ABOVE 170 DEGREES. THIS INFORMATION WAS IGNORED AND THE REP DIDN'T SEE THE PROBLEM. AFTER 6 MONTHS OF DEALING WITH THE ISSUE CONTACTED RAM CORPORATE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALER NEVER FOLLOWED UP WITH REQUEST FROM THE ENGINEERS IF THEIR SERVICE REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER UNDER AN ESCALATED CASE. TO SUMMARIZE THE REST THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL MORE TIMES, HAD FIRMWARE FLASHES AND SAID THEY HAVE NO OTHER REPAIR OPTIONS, THE LATEST IS RAM HAD ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE DRIVE THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN IGNORING THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF WHEN THE ISSUES OCCURS AND SAYS THAT HARSH SHIFTING IS INERRANT ONCE THE VEHICLE BREAKS IN AT 5 - 6 THOUSAND MILES EVEN THOUGH THEY COULDN'T GIVE ME AN EXPLANATION OF HOW THEY WERE DESCRIBING "HARSH SHIFTING". RAM CLOSED THE CASE SAYING THEY HAD NO FURTHER REPAIRS FOR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE SAYS IT IS ACCEPTABLE.

TIME - 5PM ON 11/25/2016 THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN 50 FT AROUND THE CORNER OF THE BUILDING INTO A PARKING LOT ON FLAT GROUND, BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP POINTED IN THE DIRECTION OF A SLIGHT INCLINE, THE DIAL SHIFTER WAS THEN TURNED TO THE LEFT TO SELECT PARK AT WHICH TIME THE DRIVER EXITED THE VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER STEPPING OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND BEFORE THE DRIVER COULD EVEN CLOSE THE DOOR THE VEHICLE STARTED TO CREEP FORWARD. DUE TO THE SLICK CONDITIONS IN THE PARKING LOT THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO CATCH UP WITH THE VEHICLE RIGHT AWAY. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 10 FT BEFORE MAKING CONTACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT AS THE DRIVER REENTERED THE VEHICLE AND BROUGHT IT TO A STOP AGAIN. NO ONE WAS HURT AND ONLY MINOR COSMETIC DAMAGE WAS CAUSED TO THE TWO VEHICLES. FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE RAM 1500 BY THE DEALER SHOWED ICE BUILDUP AROUND THE PARK RELEASE PREVENTING IT FROM WORKING PROPERLY.

I HAD RECEIVED THIS DODGE RAM AS A RENTAL WHILE MY TRUCK WAS GETTING BODY WORK DONE. BEFORE I PICKED UP MY SON AT SCHOOL I STOPPED AT MY HOUSE TO EMPTY OUT SOME WORK TOOLS TO MAKE ROOM FOR HIM. I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK WITH THE ROTARY DIAL ON A SLIGHT INCLINE ON MY LANEWAY I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND WALKED TOWARDS MY FRONT DOOR. AS I WALKED AWAY FROM THE TRUCK I HEARD THE SNOW COMPRESSING BEHIND ME. I TURNED AROUND AND SEEN THE TRUCK ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN MY LANEWAY. MY REACTION WAS TO CHASE THE TRUCK THINKING I MUST HAVE FORGOT TO PUT IT IN PARK. I CAUGHT UP WITH THE TRUCK THREW THE DOOR OPEN AND JUMPED IN. I PUT THE BRAKE ON AND NOTICED IT WAS IN PARK. I TURNED THE TRUCK ON AND DROVE IT BACK UP THE LANEWAY. I THEN TRIED TO PUT IT IN PARK AGAIN AND LET MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. AFTER PICKING UP MY BOY AT SCHOOL I PARKED MY TRUCK IN MY SHOP AND WENT IN THE HOUSE. AFTER HALF AN HOUR MY ADRENALINE WORE OFF AND MY HAND, WRIST AND ARM STARTED TO HURT. OUR COMPANY LEASED THIS VEHICLE FROM MID COUNTY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM ON 12/16/15 AS PART OF AN EIGHT VEHICLE FLEET. ON 8/22/2016, THE VEHICLE OPERATOR FOUND THAT THE BATTERY WAS MALFUNCTIONING. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING FROM 1ST TO 2ND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE MID COUNTY DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. MECHANICS FOUND THAT THE BATTERY HAD FAILED AND REPLACED IT. THE MECHANICS ALSO FOUND DEFECTS IN THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM, BUT WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR IT. THE MECHANICS THEN PROCEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS RELEASED TO US ON 9/7/2016. WHILE THIS IS A SINGLE INCIDENT FOR THIS VEHICLE, IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT OUR FLEET CONSISTS ENTIRELY OF RAM 1500, WITH SEVEN BEING 2016 MODELS AND ONE 2015 MODEL. BATTERY FAILURE AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE HAS BEEN PERVASIVE THROUGHOUT OUR ENTIRE FLEET.

OUR COMPANY LEASED THIS VEHICLE FROM MID COUNTY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM ON 12/16/2015 AS PART OF AN EIGHT VEHICLE FLEET. ON 10/5/2016, THE VEHICLE OPERATOR PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARDS WITHOUT A DRIVER IN THE VEHICLE. TWO OF OUR CLIENT'S EMPLOYEES NOTICED THE VEHICLE MOVING AND WERE ABLE TO JUMP IN TO THE VEHICLE TO STOP IT. WHEN ONE OF OUR CLIENT'S EMPLOYEES ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK, HE NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR WAS ALREADY IN A PARKED POSITION. HE THEN APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BREAK. WITHOUT THE INTERVENTION OF OUR CLIENT'S EMPLOYEES, THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE CRASHED IN TO A HIGH-TRAFFIC EXTERIOR STAIRWELL ON OUR CLIENT'S PROPERTY. A COMPREHENSIVE INCIDENT REPORT IS ATTACHED TO THIS COMPLAINT. FOR PRIVACY PURPOSES, WE HAVE REDACTED INFORMATION DIRECTLY PERTAINING TO OUR CLIENT. OUR CLIENT' S EMPLOYEES ARE REFERRED TO BY THEIR LAST NAMES ONLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE AND TOWED TO MID COUNTY CHRYSLER FOR REPAIRS. WHILE THIS IS THE ONLY TIME THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD A TRANSMISSION ISSUE, ANOTHER 2016 RAM 1500 HAD A SIMILAR TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION ON 8/22/2016. THIS SEEMS TO BE A CONSISTENT MALFUNCTION IN THIS MODEL.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARM, AFTER ABOUT 1/2 HOUR OF DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION STARTS TO DRIVE ROUGH. WHEN I COME TO A STOP IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HITS ME FROM THE REAR. WHEN I'M DRIVING AROUND 35 MPH AND SLOW DOWN IT DOWN SHIFTS HARD (CLUNK). WHEN I'M DRIVING AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY AND I GO TO PASS,WHEN IT PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL THERE IS A LONG HESITATION AND THEN IT BOGS DOWN THEN ACCELERATES. IT'S SCARY MY WIFE GETS NERVOUS WHEN SHE'S DRIVING. THE LONGER YOU DRIVE IT THE WORSE IT GETS. I HAVE 9,500 MILES ON IT. AFTER DRIVING IT ON THE HIGHWAY AND YOU EXIT TO THE STREETS THE GAS PEDAL HAS A LOT OF PLAY IN IT-ABOUT 1.5 INCHES FROM WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE PEDAL TO WHEN IT KICKS IN AND THEN THE RESPONSE IS A BIT JERKY. I BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 9/26/2016 AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE. I EXPLAINED THAT THEY NEEDED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK FOR A WHILE. WHEN THE TRUCK IS COLD IT'S OK, NO ISSUES. IV'E TALKED TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO HAS 40 PLUS YEARS WORKING ON CARS AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE'S HEARD THE SAME COMPLAINT FROM OTHER RAM TRUCK OWNERS. PURCHASED VEHICLE APRIL 15, 2016. SINCE THIS TIME WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE OR PARK TO DRIVE TRANSMISSIONS SHUDDERS OR SLIPS BEFORE MOVING FORWARD. THIS NOW ALSO OCCURS IN WHEN SHIFTING TO REVERSE.ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS HAVE SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE AND INDICATOR LIGHT ON GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH FLASHES. HAVE VIDEO. HAVE TO REPLACE TO PARK AND TURN OFF VEHICLE AND RESTART TO ENGAGE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD THE CLIMATE CONTROL SWITCH SETTINGS ON ITS OWN. FROM AIR CONDITIONING TO HEAT. I HAVE HAD THE SPEEDOMETER SCREEN START FLASHING AT ME WHILE OPERATING ON THE HIGHWAY SPEED THAT FORWARD OR REAR PARK ASSIST IS NOT AVAILABLE. ELECTRIC SIDE VIEW MIRRORS HAVE FOLDED IN ON THEIR OWN WHILE OPERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ON TWO OCCASIONS WHILE IN PARK AND RUNNING THE VEHICLE HAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. ALL INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN WITNESSED BY INDEPENDENT WITNESSES. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP HAS WITNESSED SOME OF THESE INCIDENTS. FCA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND CAN'T SEEM TO FIX. THESE ARE ALL ONGOING ISSUES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED FROM THE DRIVE POSITION TO THE PARK POSITION. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO HIGH GEAR. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY SHIFT INTO FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS TO BE DIAGNOSED; HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,629.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT FOUR BOLTS THAT SECURED THE DRIVESHAFT TO THE DIFFERENTIAL WERE LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67.
