Upon start get dash message "Service Electronic Braking System". When that goes away I'm left with these lights: ABS , Antilock system symbol, and BRAKE. As a result of this I have NO CRUISE CONTROL as well. Took the vehicle to Johnson Dodge dealership in Budd Lake, NJ. They told me the ABS modules are on back order for a year. Also that the replacement parts have been DISCONTINUED BY DODGE. No ETA available. I travel mostly hightway without ABS or cruise control. I worry about decreased stopping distance constantly. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY THREAT TO ME AND PASSENGERS. The internet is full of complaints for the same problem.
The ABS control module and pump failed. ABS Light, Traction / Stabilitrak light / Brake Light on Vehicle was diagnosed by the dealership Dec 16, 2022 was given quote to repair but the parts were not available and back ordered. Been reaching out since to have truck repaired multiple dealerships but ABS module is not available no ETA been driving vehicle as is Currently ABS module is still not available no ETA now and vehicle is rendered in operable due to the ABS Module failure There have been multiple complaints of this issue, yet nothing is being done.
ABS MODULE 68295368-AC failed. Prevents anti-locking brakes to function. Only have hydraulic brakes which will allow the vehicle to go into a skid. Does not allow the cruise control to function. This part has been on back order from my dealer since February 25, 2025. I have checked on the statis and have been told they are not even allowed to place any more requests for new customers with this same defected abs module. There is no after market part available for this model. Only option is to spin the wheel and hope for a working part from a salvage yard. There were recalls for previous models and later models. There are thousands of us, if not more with this problem. When will Stellantis be held accountable and get us the required part. With warning lights on the dash board for brake and traction control, there is little value to try and sell or trade my Ram 1500. Who would by it? With the defective abs module not only am I at risk, but other vehicles on the road could be endangered.
ABS Module tested by independent service to be defective. ABS, antiskid and brake lights all on. Cruise control disabled. Available for inspection. No “incident” has occurred other than having no antiskid function which poses a risk in wet conditions as well as fatigue issues on long drives with no cruise control! ABS Module has been on manufacturer nationwide back order for over 2 years with no end in sight and no alternate resolution offered. Unit was under 3rd party warranty initially but it’s been so long it is now not covered.
failure of ABS control module. This disables anti lock brake system, traction control & cruise control. There are hundreds of this modules on back order. Not one of parts suppliers have this part & do not know when they will be available. I reached out to corporate & they don't either
My Ram truck ( with extended manufacturer's warranty) has a faulty ABS module which has resulted in not having the ABS safety feature. In addition, this failed module renders speed control inoperative, thus increasing fatigue on long trips. The diagnosis was from July 29, 2025 by a Sulphur Springs dealer [very nice folks]. I have reached out to them several times and was told the part is still on backorder, with no ETA provided. I am hearing that this is a widespread problem, and it seems that we need to bring NHTSA to bear on the manufacturer… ?
5 MONTHS SINCE ABS MODULE FAILURE. NO ABS, RENDERING VEHICLE ILLEGAL TO OPERATE. SAME ISSUE WITH NEWER VEHICLES BUT MY YEAR NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL NOR ARE THERE PARTS AVAILABLE TO REPAIR ON MY OWN. LAW STATES 10YRS PARTS AVAILABILITY WHICH I BELIEVE IS WHAY THEY ARE HOLDING OUT TO NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS MASIVE ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS NEGLIGENCE. SENSITIVE COMPONENT IN AREA PRONE TO WATER AND SO PHYSICAL SEAL PROTECTING PARTS.
The ABS system and cruise control are currently inoperative. The ABS module has been diagnosed as faulty, but the replacement part from Chrysler is on a year-long backorder
The ABS module has had an internal failure for a couple of years now, and since it had just over 50,000 miles on it, the code in the ABS is C2200-49, it turns off traction control and makes the Ram 1500, unsafe to drive, you guys made them do a recall for the ram 2500, and ram 3500, for the same part, it's time to make them step up and stand behind their ram 1500, also! Braking systems are very important to the public, and you obviously have enough proof that there is a problem, and this system fails so often, it is impossible for me to even find a replacement part, it's on impossible back order, which also proves the part is defective, in the 2013-2018, I believe. Please help, these things are thousands of dollars for the replacement part, and they fail so often, I can't even get one.
ABS control modules are all out of stock, everywhere. This issue is becoming more and more common. I cannot replace the module or have it rebuilt because of a chip shortage, and I do not have ABS on my truck anymore.
Vehicle displayed ABS warning light and message to service electronic braking system. Took to Ram dealer August 2025 and vehicle was diagnosed with faulty ABS module. Service advised that the part was unavailable due to a national shortage for a known ABS module failure problem. Was told to continue driving vehicle because it was safe to operate. Subsequent, related problems presented over following three months: loss of traction control, speedometer failure, odometer failure, brakes failing to release when shifted into drive, and most concerning, loss of power steering while driving on a wet curve that caused loss of vehicle control not resulting in a crash. Three vehicle occupants were left very scared at the unexpected loss of vehicle control. Called dealership November 2025 after loss of control episode and was told the ABS module part was still unavailable. I fear the vehicle will kill us if driven and we encounter an emergency situation. The ABS module failure in this 2016 Ram 1500 model is well documented in public records and was confirmed to me by an authorized dealer.
2016 Ram 1500. Abs system malfunction. Brakes lock up randomly. Abs, brake light, traction control light come on randomly causing brake issues. Very dangerous. Called multiple dealerships. No control module available. No date for part to be available. This is huge safety issue and Ram/fiat are not seeming to care. No sense of urgency from any of the dealerships or manufacturer. Lawsuit could be happening sense this is huge safety problem. Code c2200-49
I first started having issues with the “brake” light illuminating in dash, service electronic braking system, service abs, service trailer braking system (no trailer hooked up) around 8/20/25. I had it check out by a mechanic on 8/28/2025 and he confirmed that the ABS module was bad. DTC C2200-49 stored in ABS module. Inspected wiring and connections and found no issues. I have contacted RAM about the incident. There is a recall on other RAM trucks the same year model but not this one. I have a failed component.
I have a 2016 dodge 1500 hemi 5.7. The chrysler dealership diagnose that the abs module was bad. these abs modules are very rare to find. messages were abs light, check engine light, traction light and speedometer stop working. Thanks for your attention in this matter.
2016 Dodge Ram 1500 truck apparently this is a known issue and the module to fix the antilock brake is impossible to get. I have been researching this and I have thus far not only my year make and model truck but other Dodge trucks with the same failure and not able to get the module. The Dodge Dearler in Hayesville NC ordered this part and I call frequently to inquire as to its arrival. this is a safely issue that need to be addressed
FAULTY ABS MODULE THAT EVEN THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T GET. IT HAS ENABLED THE ABS from working as should.
Warning lamps abs, traction, and brake light
the ABS and traction control / lights flashing and now makes it feel unsafe
Internal abs malfunction, diagnostic code c220-49 vehichle is available for inspection upon request, abs module is a major safety risk as it highly increases the chance of an mva due to a brake system failure endangering many other drivers as these pickups are very common, problem has been confirmed by dealer, dealer told me that they are aware of many other vehicles with the same diagnostic code I have and that parts are on backorder with no eta whatsoever. Parking brake, abs, traction control lights are all on, cruise control has not worked as well ever since abs module went out, first appeared 09/01/2025
On 10/21/2025, my ABS module failed. This failure caused my brakes to fully apply on their own while entering interstate traffic. The brakes will fully apply due to ABS pump intermittently kicking in. This part has no availability to repair. Chrysler/FCA/Mopar/Stellantis/RAM no help with this issue. I was able to safely pull over and have vehicle towed to my shop and diagnosed. This is a common issue and with no parts available to repair, I am going to be without my truck.
At 90,000 miles ABS, traction control and brake light came on, mechanic said it’s a defective ABS module, and that there are none available anywhere, it’s under engineering review. This is a known issue, and now a recall for 2017 and above, my Ram is a 2016, same part. This poses a safety risk as the brakes can lock up, causing an accident. It’s going on 2 years with still no modules available
The ABS module has gone out in the truck. Ram has no replacements available for the part. The part number is 68295368AC
ABS module witch affects anti breaking system and i have no traction control can’t hard stop on wet or snowy conditions all it does is slide depending on speed is how far it slides and the rear end slides on take off on wet or snowy weather anti breaking system traction control and brake light is on in dash and license mechanic said it was ABS Module the mechanic stated all ram trucks around this year it goes out.
The ABS module on my vehicle has failed. A factory replacement part is not available and according to Stellantis, it is on back-order. The problem is that is has been on back-order/development for over 2 years. You can't even get a rebuild unit. The only option is a used part. This is unacceptable on a vehicle that cost $65K new and is less than ten years old. We need a resolution.
2016 Ram 1500 Express, 5.7L, 65K miles. The ABS, Traction Control, Break lights are on. This also impacts the Cruise Control making them all inoperable, even though the truck is still able to be drive, albeit unsafely. I took it to my local repair shop and was told the ABS Controle Module, part number 68228991AD was identified as bad (Code C2200-49) and in need of replacing at approximately $2000 and that the part is on indefinite backorder. I tried to locate the part on my own and there is in fact a nationwide backorder. After further investigation, I found multiple owners on Ram forums either having or have had the same problems. On one parts website, I found this message regarding the part: PART ON HOLD UNTIL ENGINEERING REVIEW IS COMPLETE, EXP - MAR 20TH, 2025.
The ABS module has failed. As such, the anti-lock brakes, nor the electronic brakes for braking a trailer do not work. This is a safety hazard as when towing you might not be able to stop in time to avoid an accident. I tried to get this fixed at a RAM dealership, but was informed this item has been on backorder for over 1.5 years and there are several other customers waiting for this part. So, I escalated at RAM and the escalation representative replied stating that they are waiting for production approval. They have been waiting on production approval for over 1.5 years for this safety issue. What is going to take, someone getting seriously injured or killed to get RAM to provide this safety item? As I mentioned, RAM is aware of this issue, but are not doing what it takes to address. It would be great if you can put pressure on RAM to make this safety item a priority. Also, it would be great if it came in form of a recall, but being able to get this part so that I can safely operate my vehicle is my main priority. Anything that you can do in addressing this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
The ABS Control Module failed 7/2025. Brake and other warning lights came on. My mechanic diagnosed as an ABS Control Module failure. After hours of callng dealers and parts stores, it was determined (and confirmed by Ram corporate) that there was LITERALLY ZERO OEM replacement parts in the US! I was informed that "the truck was safe to drive, but you will not have anti-lock brakes". I was stunned at the non-chalant response from RAM corporate that they knew there were no replacement parts available in the US, "but they were working on finding a supplier". So I asked the RAM representative, "so let me get this straight. On this safety critical system, you not only don't have any parts to repair my truck, you don't even have a supplier on contract to build them!" And RAM clearly knew about the failure rate on this part, because I just saw they were in a class-action lawsuit, which I also just saw didn't include the 2016 Ram, but starts with the 2017. This is CRAZY!
My ABS, Traction Control, and Brake light came on. Having my vehicle scanned at a couple of shops, the error message is C2200-49 which is tied to the Anti-Lock Brake System Module - Internal Electronic Failure. Retailers like Autozone, Advance Autoparts, nor O'Riellys do not have the part. I've researched it and it's not just my vehicle. There are a ton of people who are having this same issue. I've shopped multiple online retailers; many say they have it until you order it. Then you get a message stating that the ordered part has been discontinued or is backordered with no eta by the manufacturer. I've even tried having the part refurbished with no luck. It seems that Mopar has stopped making the part and there is no timeline for replacement or fix.
My ABS brake module has failed with warning lights just appearing this month (9/19/25) and I took it to the local RAM Dealer for confirmation of the problem on (09/30/25) and the Ram/Stellantis dealer told me the part is not available anymore, the internet research confirms Stellantis stopped producing the necessary module for my year truck. My truck is paid off and the dealer (Naples Dodge) told me my options was to trade it in to them for a new vehicle offering me only 8000 dollars for my truck. Then they charged me a diagnostic fee for a repair issue they cannot even fix, this seems like a manufactured problem to force customers of older trucks to upgrade to a more expensive vehicle. I only have basic brake systems now, no ABS obviously a safety risk.
ABS Module failure. Cannot be repair due to discontinued part.
Anti Lock/skid brake module doesn't work, anti lock, anti skid, & Brake warning lights are all on. Service repairman informed me Ram stopped making repair parts for this. Problem is constant and has caused locked brakes, skid and a near collision. Warning lights on continuous. What am I supposed to do about this? I have a $20,000 vehicle unsafe to drive and can't repair.
Traction control light, brake light and abs light all on. Has been burning my 3rd light bulb and dash speedometer goes blank sometimes when driving. Also feels like brakes are engaged while driving sometimes. Check engine light come on and off sometimes. I was told it was The ABS CONTROL MODULE BY DODGE DEALER SHIP. ALSO TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT SOMETIMES. Have to turn vehicle off to reset. But sometimes it takes several of times to reset.
ABS Control Module is bad so ABS no longer functions. This has been confirmed my a mechanic. ABS light, Traction control light and BRAKE light on dashboard are all on. Replacement part is no longer manufactured so it can not be repaired.
This is the third complaint I have filed. Now the steering is stiff and makes noise. A mechanic advised that the issue is the ABS module. Dealers still say the ABS module is still unavailable. NHTSA needs to order a recall based on uncertain dependability of steering. Owners are presuming that trucks with faulty modules are safe to operate until NHTSB orders a recall.
Brakes. Abs and traction control Brakes can fail Kindle dodge had truck for over a month cannot obtain part Abs and traction control lites appeared on driver information center
I own a 2016 RAM 1500 Tradesman (VIN: [XXX] ). My vehicle requires a replacement for the ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) module. This is a critical safety component directly tied to braking and safe vehicle operation. The problem is that Stellantis (RAM) is not producing or supplying new replacement ABS modules, and my dealer has informed me that there are currently over 390 modules on backorder nationwide with no estimated date of availability. This situation effectively makes my truck unsafe and unrepairable. I am being forced into an impossible position: either continue driving without a functioning ABS (a major safety risk), park the truck indefinitely, or purchase another vehicle. I believe Stellantis should be required to provide a remedy by manufacturing replacement ABS modules or providing a safe alternative repair. Leaving hundreds of vehicles without access to a functioning ABS system is unacceptable from both a safety and consumer-protection standpoint. The ABS module has failed on my 2016 RAM 1500, which has disabled the ABS and the traction control system. This is a serious safety hazard because the vehicle now has no anti-lock braking or stability control, creating dangerous conditions in wet or emergency braking situations. •Component/System Failed: The ABS control module has malfunctioned. The part is still installed on my truck because I need it in place to drive the vehicle to work, but it can be made available for inspection if required. •Safety Risk: The failure disables both ABS and traction control, greatly increasing the risk of loss of control and extended stopping distances in wet, slippery, or emergency conditions. This creates a direct safety risk to both myself and others on the road. •Dealer Confirmation: I contacted 4 Ram dealer who confirmed that no replacement parts have taken as long as 6 months to obtain and that they do not know when or if or when additional parts will become available. The fault has been verified with an ABS diagnostic fault code and I have confirmed this is a common failure as almost 500 parts are awaiting delivery in the US. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives, but the failure is documented. •Warning Lights/Symptoms: The ABS warning lamp, traction control light, and brake system light are all illuminated on the dashboard. These first appeared at the time of the failure and remain constantly lit. The OEM (Stellantis/FCA) is not offering a new replacement ABS module. Multiple rebuild companies have told me they cannot repair this unit because the required electronic parts are unavailable. This situation leaves owners without a safe or affordable path to restore critical safety systems. Despite being a known issue, there is no recall or service campaign from the manufacturer. NHTSA should investigate these ABS module failures on Ram
Anti-lock brake module is bad
I own a 2016 Ram 1500. The ABS control module has failed, which has completely disabled both the ABS system and the traction control system. •Dealer Confirmation: I contacted a Ram dealer who confirmed that no replacement parts are available and that they do not know when or if parts will become available. •Inspection/Verification: The fault has been verified with an ABS diagnostic fault code. Local shops confirm this is a common failure. The only option available is extremely high-priced used modules from salvage sources, which are unreliable and difficult to obtain. This situation leaves owners without a safe or affordable path to restore critical safety systems. Despite being a known issue, there is no recall or service campaign from the manufacturer. NHTSA should investigate these ABS module failures on Ram
ABS module failure. Part has not been available for at least 2 years when the failure occurred for this truck. Local repair shops and Dodge dealers are having difficulty in getting the part. NHTSA needs to start pressuring Dodge to get this resolved.
Antilock brake system module failure. The system controls the anti-locking brake system as well as vehicle stability control, both federally mandated for this year vehicle. The ABS, stability control, and brake lights are illuminated on the dash. The message “service antilock brake system” is displayed on the message center as well as “service electronic braking system” The part is not available for inspection at this time as it is still on the vehicle and cannot be removed without causing complete failure of the braking system. The vehicle is still being driven as there is no other option at this time. Failure of the system puts anyone operating the vehicle in danger due to the ABS & Stability systems being inoperable. Failure confirmed by independent auto repair technician. ABS system reset and re-initialize without resolution of the issue. The part has not been inspected by the dealership who did not wish to inspect it as it was known issue. No accidents involved with my vehicle due to this as yet. The system failed in November 2023. I contacting the Ram dealer to replace the part and I was informed there were no modules available because it was on “Engineering Hold”. This was explained that the part had to be redesigned due to a continuous failure/problem. I was told it would be available in March 2024. Re-contacted the dealership in March 2024 and was advised it would not be until after June or July. The Part became available sometime after August 2024. However, due to the backlog of vehicles the dealership had to repair, none were available clear into 2025. As I understand, this is a widespread problem that has affected 10’s to 100’s of thousands of vehicles. Part numbers 68295368AA & 68295368AB with the redesigned part being 68295368AC. I also understand that this part has failed on the Durango, Charger, and Challenger vehicles as well.
I was involved in a crash that resulted in a fatality on [XXX]. My truck was towed to Five Star Collision Center in Hurst, TX. The repairs were made to the body of my truck. I picked up the truck and ABS warning lights came on. I called Fove Star Collision Center and spoke to my point of contact- Nathan Hultquist. Nathan advised that I should drive the truck back immediately. I took the truck my to Nathan. He advised that I should drive the truck to the closest Dodge dealership. I did so. My ABS Module is out on my 2016 Ram.The warning lamps came on- service brake system, service trailer brake, ABS light stayed illuminated. This appeared 150 days ago. It has been at Grapevine Dodge for over 150 days. It is in limp mode and has been declared unsafe to drive. I have been in communication with Stellantis/MOPAR for the 150 days. There is no resolution. They claim there is no material to manufacture the part? It appears to be made of plastic? I feel that this is a safety concern due to the fact that if the brakes are applied in an emergency situation, the ABS fails and the brakes lock up. The truck can go into limp mode which is at 35 MPH. On a state highway, moving at that speed- that is NOT safe. There are plenty of these trucks out on the road that could have this same problem and cause serious accidents including a death. I ask for your assistance in this matter. ABS Control Module is throwing a code. I have spoke with my mechanic and countless others along with representatives of Mopar/Chrysler and this ABS Control Module has been on back order know for 2 years that I know of. From research I have done the part has been on back order longer than that. In my research I have also found that Mopar/Chrysler does not seem to be manufacturing this part anymore. This issue is effecting 100s if not 1000s of people who have spent a lot of money on these pickups and Mopar/Chrysler could seem to care less about it. 2 years of being on back order is absolutely ridicuous.
ABS Module is failing preventing other systems to work properly (cruise control). This part has been on order since February. The service technician said there are people who have been waiting on this part for over a year and a half. Looking on line this is a problem of enormous proportions on multiple model years. If this part is not available to make this repair, it leaves us with a dangerous braking problem which can effect multiple other functions of our vehicles. If Stellantis knows this part is such a needed safety module, what can be done so owners can have their vehicles repaired?
This vehicle has a faulty ABS module that Ram doesn't make the part for. The part 68292756AA been shown on backorder for over 1yr. After chatting with a Ram customer service agent I found out this part has been discontinued and was advised that I try an aftermarket part. Guess what ? The aftermarket part is not compatible with the program download. 😡This is unacceptable. There seems there is forums after forums with people in the same predicament. This issue really needs to be investigated .
My ABS light, Brake light and traction control light come on intermittently. Had it tested and they say that the ABS Module has internal failure. It came up with warning code C2200-49 when tested.
The Antilock Braking System module has failed, rendering the ABS system inoperative as well as prohibiting cruise control. The Sulphur Springs Ram Dealership has been very nice, but are telling me that the replacement module is unavailable and has no estimate time of arrival????
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module on this vehicle has failed, causing the following: Complete loss of ABS braking Loss of traction control Inoperable speedometer Warning lights for ABS, brake, and traction systems
The ABS module is malfunctioning; it is an internal electronic fault that has been diagnosed by the dealership. This is leading to a lack of cruise control, excessive drain on the battery resulting in constant recharging, and a red brake light to be illuminated, which results in immediate failed inspection of the vehicle in Virginia. There is an existing recall on 2019 and 2021-2024 Dodge Rams; however, there is a national shortage of the part and dealerships will not install used modules. Currently there is no solution offered by Dodge other than to continue charging the battery and to pay approximately $700 for the part that has been "Under Review" for at least 8 months. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership which has stated over 160 people have requested the part be ordered at this one location. Their recommendation was to disconnect the battery every night. This is not a solution.
ABS light came on a long time ago and I have been unable to get it repaired due to availability of the part and demand due to so many owners having an issue with this ABS module failing. This is not a wear and tear part, this module should not have failed when it did. I see there have been recalls on other Ram trucks and 2016 has been left out. This issues is present for so many owners and is a safety issue.
Abs internal system failure. Abs light illuminated, traction control light illuminated, parking brake light illuminated at all times. Is available for inspection. Do not have abs system currently working and is faulty. Spongy braking and am at risk for brake failure at any time. Especially during slick road conditions. It has been confirmed with independent service center and has been inspected by them. No problems prior to the illumination of lights and system failure which occurred June 4th 2025.
Per the dealer the ABS module failed, affecting the antilock brakes, traction control, trailer braking. Component failures causes erratic braking. The vehicle is now subject to longer stops in wet/slippery conditions. The dealer has diagnosed the problem. Chrysler/Ram do not have the ABS modules and they are on national back order. There is no known delivery date. Multiple lights are on in the vehicle. Vehicle has been at the dealer for more than 2 weeks now. The problem was diagnosed July 1, 2025. The needed part couldn't be sourced by the dealer.
The ABS warning light has appeared and the dealership inspected the vehicle and stated the ABS needs to be replaced. Research shows multiple RAM 1500 trucks from 2016-2019 have had a recall on this system, but as far as I know, no recall was issued on mine. I do not know where to look to view all recalls that were issued on a particular vehicle.
In January 2025, the “Check ABS” warning light illuminated in my 2016 RAM 1500 Laramie. I promptly brought the vehicle to the dealership where it was purchased. Upon inspection, I was informed that the required part for repairs was on back order. I was assured that I would receive an update from the dealership in March 2025 regarding the status of the part, but I did not receive any communication. On June 20, 2025, I contacted the dealership for an update and was informed that the part remains on back order and is no longer being manufactured. However, no solutions or alternative options were provided to address this issue. A representative from the Service Department stated they would escalate the matter to the Parts Manager, but no further plan or resolution was discussed. Given that the vehicle ABS is a key safety feature, I am very concerned that a necessary safety component is unavailable.
The Anti-Lock Brake module has failed, causing issues with ABS, Traction Control, Braking in general, and cruise control. I have been in contact with the manufacturer on over 20 occasions over the past year. Their response is always "it's under review, we will have an update in a few weeks."
Complaint: 2016 Ram 1500 - Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Module Failure Vehicle Information: Make: Ram Model: 1500 Year: 2016 Current Odometer Reading: Approximately 48,000 miles Incident Description: My 2016 Ram 1500 truck has experienced a failure of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module. This failure has resulted in the deactivation of several critical safety systems, including: Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Traction Control System Cruise Control Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Consequences of Failure: The complete shutdown of these safety systems, particularly the ABS, poses a significant and immediate safety risk. Without a functional ABS, the vehicle's braking performance is severely compromised, increasing the likelihood of wheel lock-up during sudden braking and significantly elevating the risk of an accident or complete brake failure, especially under adverse road conditions. Dealer Response & Lack of Resolution: I contacted an authorized Ram dealership to address this critical issue. Unfortunately, the dealership informed me that they currently have no replacement parts for the ABS module and have received no guidance or support from Chrysler (Stellantis) regarding a resolution. This lack of parts and technical support leaves me with a vehicle that is, in my opinion, unsafe to operate and susceptible to an accident due to a known, unaddressed safety defect. Request for Action: I am submitting this complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to report this serious safety defect. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this widespread issue and compel Ram/Chrysler to provide an immediate remedy for this ABS module failure, including the availability of necessary replacement parts and a clear repair protocol. The current situation leaves me with a vehicle that has compromised safety features, putting lives at risk.
ABS module failed at 46000 miles. Cannot drive the vehicle due to this problem. Code C2200-49 internal failure. When hitting brakes in rain, tires lock up. Stability control is also off, cruise control does not work. The part to repair this truck are unavailable. Part # 68295368AB Dealership mechanics are telling me to buy on used one on ebay and have them install it. They said there are 3600 of these modules on national back order. Stellantis keeps putting off the engineering sign-off back when the next posted date arrives (as of 4/21/25.)
ABS control module failed. Dash warning lights are on and error code present for ABS module failure. There is no replacement available and no one can give any kind of estimate for when the part may ever be available. They poses a huge safety risk and is a known problem in which it appears they are doing nothing about correcting.
My ABS, traction control and cruise control do not work because the ABS control module is bad. Dodge does not offer any fix or repair. There is no response from Dodge on when there will be a remedy.
ABS module failed, locked up the brakes and almost caused and accident
ASB warning light is on Emergency brake light is on Check engine light is on Fuel cap light is on Backup camera doesn't work well Brakes are sluggish. ABS doesn't seem to be working. Hard to stop to avoid collision. 2 close calls. Dealer says no part available to fix. It has been over a year.
Vehicle is experiencing a failure of the Anti Brake System Controller Module. This issue is triggering a "Red Brake" system light as well as others (Antiskid failure etc,) on the dash. Vehicle manual states do not drive the vehicle. The part number in question is 68295368AB. This is occurring in RAM1500 vehicles across the country. Dealerships are telling owners it is OK to drive the vehicle after confirming the ABS Controller Module is defective. Ram and parent company has failed to issue a recall or a communication to RAM 1500 owers of this problem. Currently the repair parts are not available nationwide per the RAM MOPAR parts website. This is a dangerous situation instilling a behavior with owners to disregard the warning lights they are receiving on their 1500 truck dashboards. Potentil for brake failure during operation has a high probability. Ram MOPAR is ignoring this safety issue.
I have a 2016 Ram 1500 with unrepairable brake problems. My ABS system went out in November 2024 and was told that I need a new control module to make repairs. the problem is there are no module in the United States. They need to come from a foreign country and that they need to be inspected. This was to be completed by January 15, 2025. I am still unable to get the repairs. Under Pa. inspection I will need the repairs. They are now saying some time by the end of April it may be available. This sound similar to the recalls to the 2017 Ram 2500 where there is a problem with the ABS System. This is putting me and my family at risk, but I need a vehicle. My dealer is Faulkner Dodge, Mechanicsburg, Pa. 17055
See attached document for complaint.
ABS module failed in July 2024 Subsequently, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, and Cruise Control are not operating. BRAKE light also remains lit on dash panel. ABS module is currently not available from Ram. Expected date is continually pushed further and further into the future. Meanwhile, truck is not able to operate at full, safety capacity.
1. ABS break system, 2.Breaks not working properly 3 yes 4. no 5. no
ABS module malfunction according to codes. Brake and traction control lights are on 97% of the time, randomly the lights won’t come on. But having no aBS or trailer brakes makes using our travel trailer extremely unsafe. Dealership continues to see “under engineering review “ when looking up abs module.
Started the vehicle and the ABS, Traction Control and Brake warning lights came on, as well as "Service Anti Lock Braking System" warning on the dash. Code C2200-49 internal failure ABS module. This is a common problem with Ram 1500s.
ABS module goes in and out, but nothing is wrong and repayment hasn't been available for over 2 yrs.
ABS control module malfunction. No parts available.
Brake Warning light on, ABS light on, traction control light on, cruse control disabled, 4 wheel drive disabled. Appears to be same issue as NHTSA Recall Number24V-896 but on 2016 Dodge Ram 1500.
I was driving on a blacktop road doing 60mph when I topped a hill and suddenly the road surface changed to mud and deep puddle of water , as I hit my brakes all the ABS BRAKE AND ANTI SKID LIGHTS on my dash lite up and the tires locked up and i slide almost sideways into a massive puddle of water at a very dangerous angle. The force of it was very difficult to steer my truck back straight to miss the bridge rails that was just yards ahead. Now the dodge dealership tells me the ABS BRAKE CONTROL MUDULE is under engineering review and can't be replaced because it's on back order. So for my safety I've parked it and bought a chevy . Will sell dodge when fixed if part recalled to make dodge fix it please.
ABC Control Module - The warning lights that are on in the Dashboard are the ABS Light, Traction Control Light and the Brake Light. When these lights came on, I took it to the Ram Dealership, and they told me that it was the ABS Control Module that was bad and needed replaced. The lights stay on all of the time, so I do not have any ABS Braking, Tractor Control or Cruise Control. Not having the ABS Braking or the Cruise Control make it very dangerous to stop or control the Truck with bad road conditions. The Dealership told me that the part that is needed is on an Enginering Hold and that they cannot order the part. The Truck was taken into the Dealership in October of 2024. They are not giving me any solutions to the problem, and I am forced to drive an unsafe vehicle until Ram takes the parts off of Enginering Hold. I am not getting any help from Ram on this issue, and they do not seem to care about my Safety. The Dealership that my truck was at is Shively Motors in Shippensburg PA
—2016 Ram 1500 with 50,000 miles—ABS brake light and brake light came on. 2023 Took Ram into dealership to have it fixed and was told that the ABS module was out and that a new one would need to be ordered. Dealership said that they are on back order and I must pay for half of it before they order. I paid them to order it but it is still back ordered. Was told this is a common problem and should be a recall due to loss of braking. I also had them check a clicking noise and was told that the head of the bolt on the exhaust broke and was told by the dealership that this is a very common problem and should be a recall because exhaust is leaking at the manifold allowing for the exhaust to enter the cab possibly leading to exhaust toxicity. There are many online forums detailing all of these issues and the cost is exorbitant.
The brakes stopped working on September of 2024. I had to slam the emergency brake pedal to come to a stop. I slid into a ditch which caused autobody damage. A mechanic told me the ABS no longer works on my truck. He gave me this code: C2200. He said it defines the ABS module has failed. He said Mopar currently had no ABS modules in stock because they are constantly being replaced. I cannot drive the truck until the ABS module gets replaced.
Warning lights are on for , service trailer brake system, service braking system and service anti-lock brake system. Was advised by independent mechanic that the ABS module needs to be replaced, and this part has been unavailable for over 8 months. Contacted dealer and they also advised part is unavailable and they did not know when it would be available. Vehicle is drivable, but probably not safe to do so.
The abs module has gone out and there's a nationwide hold on the part. The date keeps getting extended on release which tells me you all know there is a problem. Our truck has been sitting for months due to the issue but we are still expected to pay for something we can't even drive. Something needs to be done to correct this problem because there are lots of vehicles with the same issue which is very concerning seeing as how this is a safety feature.
The ABS module on my truck has been broken for over 9 months and RAM still can't provide a part. A search on the internet shows that this is a very common problem with RAM trucks and a lot of people are waiting on this part. Each time I have called to order the part, my local dealer has told me that they have had several calls about this and that they can't order the part because the system says it's under "engineering review" and that RAM says it will be ready next month. Well, I've heard this for 9 months now. Today, I was driving in the snow and had to brake hard and couldn't stop sliding because I don't have ABS brakes. Also, this has caused issues while pulling a trailer several times. I've turned this into RAM and NHTSA and have had no response. I really am trying to be patient with this, but this has gone on too long. If I have a wreck or someone in my family is hurt because of the unavailability of this part, I want something on record showing that I've addressed this several times.
I have been waiting 6 or more months for an ABS control module (part # 68295368AC) for my 2016 Ram 1500 (vin [XXX]). I cannot locate a new one at any dealer I have called as they all say the part is back ordered and they have no idea when it will be available. It seems to me that if the part has been unavailable for over six months then many trucks are having the same problem which would indicate faulty manufacturing and thus should be recalled. Driving this vehicle with this module not functioning properly disables the traction control as well as the ABS but I am forced to drive it as I have no other vehicle that I can drive while this one sits in the driveway waiting for a part that no one knows when it will be available. I hope you are able to help me convince Mopar that they need to replace the part at their expense ASAP or provide a replacement vehicle in the meantime. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
ABS system is lighting up on the dash clusters. Have the problem checked by the dealer in November and they are unable to make repairs until inspectors make approve the part.
Upon braking on the interstate the truck lost control and almost crashed due to not braking properly. ABS, Brake and traction control lights all came on and have stayed on steadily since. Truck pulls to the right every time we brake. When we spoke with dodge they told us the ABS module is the problem but that it can not be replaced due to no longer being made. They said the the truck is not safe to drive with the bad ABS module.
The ABS Control Module has failed. This module controls the ABS, TCS, Cruise Control and leaves the BRAKE light on on the dash. This problem has been diagnosed by the dealership. The part has been discontinued by MOPAR and there are currently no indications of inventory being replenished by a MOPAR part manufacturer or 3rd party manufacturer. Without this, the vehicle no longer has required safety features available for the safe operation of manufacturer specs. The warning lights are operational. The availability of the part is out of stock indefinetly. There has been no indication of a potential solution by the manufacturer. Through repeated attempts to contact Stellantis about this issue, no guidance has been given, only "we're sorry" and "continue to wait for part availability." This issue needs escalation as the manufacturer is not showing, in good faith, that there is something being done to resolve the supply issue and is acting as they are content with the vehicle being in a less than safe state.
The ABS electronic module has failed. The replacement part from the dealership has/is on “Engineering Hold “ since November, extended to December 19, then extended to January 17, and now extended to February 19th. The ABS modules for Dodge Ram trucks from 2017 onwards are on recall. The ABS module also controls the cruise control, so that is not working also. Please add the 2016 models to the recall.
ABS light came on end of July, 2024 Had truck checked at local dealership 08/07/2024 and was told I'd need to replace ABS Module. Been over 5 months, part is STILL not available, and, now my ABS light, Electronic Stability Control Light, and Brake Light are all on. Dealership told me nothing can be done. Next proposed date for release of needed part is in February, which from recent history, wll probably (IMO) not happen. This is an issue (according to internet search) which is affecting many Ram owners
Have been forced to drive my truck without ABS and also with all the ABS, Brake and Check Engine lights on due to a faulty ABS Module. RAM has been saying for years they had a fix coming and still nothing. Several components will not work due to this issue. Ram service said its ok to drive even without Anti-Lock Brakes. When I said the thousands of owners who are forced to do this are committing insurance fraud and are at risk liability wise they said no worries. The forums are full of owners with the same issue. To add insult to injury they have adjust the software on our RAM vehicle heath report to not show the owner alert for the failure so less informed owners are unaware of exactly what the issue is. HELP!!!!
Abs module has electronic fault requiring repair or replacement there is no modules available to repair with some remanufactured ones are available with prices very high also has to be programmed by a dealer making it a very costly repair if you can find one. This is a safety issue as abs will not function till repair complete chrysler is well aware of issue there is thread after thread about it online.
Ram has an issue with the electronic brake module. It effects the anti-brake, anti-slip, trailer brake, and cruise control. They are aware of it and it is documented on many forums as far back as 2016 on my model. My son has a 2018 2500 and is starting to have the same issues. This is an $1100 job but they don't have the part and can't get it. They say it is on back order? No real guarantee it will even last when it is replaced. This is a hazard driving. And definitely an issue you need to address
* There are ABS and Traction Control warning lamps and messages illuminated on the dash starting in July of 2024. They do not turn off. * Two different certified independent service centers diagnosed the ABS Module as the cause, which requires replacement. * The ABS module has malfunctioned causing the brakes to pulsate and extend safe stopping distance. The problem also causes the traction control feature to not work, which causes extreme danger on a wet surface. Additionally the cruise control will not set due to this ABS module malfunction. * I have ordered a new ABS module from RAM (part # 68295368-AC), but it has been under "Engineering Review" for months with no insight into when the problem will be fixed. Ram states that the truck is "safe to drive" while we wait, but my experience with it shows that to be false. RAM seems to expect us to drive an unsafe vehicle until they get around to finding a solution.
ABS Code C2200-49, anti-lock brake module internal electronic failure. Have not been able to source a new ABS control module for my vehicle. Apparently Dodge/Mopar/Chrysler has stopped producing this part. No ABS makes it dangerous to drive in the snowy/wet conditions prevalent during the winter months, especially in New York State. ABS, traction control, and brake lights are illuminated on dash. Owners manual states that the vehicle should not be driven with the brake light illuminated. Don’t really have a choice but to drive the vehicle, as I can’t afford to park the vehicle for an unknown period of time until the new module becomes available.
The ABS module has a fault which is preventing the ABS system from functioning resulting in increased potential for braking mishaps. The module scan shows a c2200-49 code indicating a fault in the module. The RAM dealer states they are unable to get replacement parts from the manufacturer or a non-factory party. From internet searches it appears this is a longstanding problem potentially putting drivers at risk of serious injury or death. Strongly recommend NHTSA ensure a recall is issued to ensure manufacturer resolution of this serious safety problem.
My truck has been diagnosed with a faulty ABS control module over a year ago. I have made countless efforts to remedy this to no avail. The demand is so high for these and the supply is zero. The vehicle will go into limp mode every time i drive it. This poses a serious threat to my safety by not being able to get up to speed on the highway and constantly having to pull over. This is my only vehicle and has been a huge inconvenience.
The air suspension went out on my ram 1500, and i cannot drive the vehicle. This happened when I was on the highway, and it almost made crash. After the service suspension light came on, the truck was incredibly hard to control. I had the vehicle towed from Atlantic Expressway to my home. Now the truck doesn't move and is now stuck in the lowered position.
Warning lights have illuminated for ABS, Traction Control and Brake. Same as Safety Recall Report 24V-896, but that Safety Recall Report does not currently include 2016 1500 RAM models. I believe that Safety Recall Report should be expanded to include the 2016 1500 RAM model.
The abs module has failed on the 2016 Ram 1500. It has illuminated the brake light, abs light, and traction light on my dash permanently. It is disabling abs, cruise control, and now I will not know if any other problems arise in my brake system because the lights stay on permanently. I have been unable to purchase a replacement part because it has been unavailable for over 6 months to purchase. I continuously get told a new part is under engineer review but they just keep extending the date every other month. In the mean time I have no way to repair my vehicle. Absolutely unsafe and unacceptable for a major system (brakes).
The ABS Control Module has faulted and no longer allows for the ABS System, Traction Control System or Cruise Control System to operate properly and also leaves the BRAKE light illuminated (which should indicate the parking brake is engaged). This part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and there is no timeline associated with a replacement part. This allows for the vehicle to be operated without the required ABS system functioning and no feasible timeline to make repairs to this system. The dealer has ran diagnostics to confirm ABS Control Module failure. This problem has caused a dashboard warning light and was brought to a Ram dealership promptly for diagnostics/repair. MOPAR and RamTrucks has been contacted multiple times without a follow up from the company.
ABS MODULE NOT WORKING.
ABS module on the vehicle has failed. Took it to be diagnosed and was told the code was that there was an internal component failure and the module would need to be replaced as it is a common issue. Intermittent service power steering message while driving and power steering stops working making vehicle has to maneuver at low speeds. Power steering returns after the vehicle is shut off and restarted. Have not been able to be reproduced for dealer to diagnose.
In May/June 2023, my ABS, Emergency Brake, and traction control lights all came on on my dashboard. I received a notice when starting the car that I need to service electronic braking system and service trailer brake system. At the same time, my cruise control stopped working. I took my vehicle to Hendrick Dodge in Cary, NC, on June 7, 2023, and received the following diagnosis: C220-49-Anti-lock brake module internal - internal electronic failure. The receipt said "the abs module is dead recommend replacing the hcu and abs module." It was an expensive repair and the advisor handling my visit that day assured me that my brakes still work and the vehicle is safe to drive. I also asked if safe to pull my horse trailer and he said yes. I decided a few months later to get the repair done and tried to order the module through the Hendrick Parts department. They indicated that there was an engineering hold on the part and they could not order it. The hold went until early (perhaps February or March?) 2024. So I made a note to call back in March - which I did, but at a different dealership parts department (John Heister in Sanford, NC). At that time, they said the hold was until May 2024. So I called back in May and they indicated the part is now available, but the vehicle has to come back in to be inspected and take pictures and ensure they order the correct part. I took the vehicle on May 21, they confirmed the issue and ordered the parts. The parts did not come in until August, when I had the following replaced for a cost of $2770 on August 30, 2024 to replace the ABS module and install anit-lock brake control. Earlier this month my husband who owns a 2022 Ram 1500 received a notification for a recall for the same issue on his truck. Due to my experience, I believe the 2016 RAM 1600 has the same issue and a recall should be extended to include 2016 models.
The ABS module has been out on my truck for almost a year and RAM still hasn't released a part. According to forums on the internet for this year model and others, this has become a common issue. I am driving my truck without the ability to use my ABS system. I have called RAM customer service and my local dealer(s) several times and a part is not available. I can't get a response from my case worker with RAM. This should be a recall issue.
See attached document for complaint.
There was a recall for High Pressure Fuel Pump. Part ended up exploding and debris getting into fuel system, which made engine faulty. Found out just today there is a recall for ABS system, which ABS light has been on for 3 months The vehicle has shut off on the freeway 5 times, always on the freeway which was dangerous. The vehicle has been inspection and worked on by Ram dealership but they cannot find remedy for the vehicle. Yes the engine light was on and the ABS light is on currently. After new engine and PCM was installed the engine light went off but vehicle shut off last night which was (10/17/2024) now there is a red light blinking
ABS / BRAKE / TRACTION CONTROL/CRUISE CONTROL I am having problems with the list above. I have had my brakes, rotors and abs sensors replaced. Not to mention the dealership (Nyle Maxwell -Killeen, TX) supposedly did thorough check up and also changed out all the brake necessities a few years back. ****I will NEVER take my truck back to them EVER.**** The problem is because of this, I am a hazard to be on the road. My brakes work, but may give out at anytime if too much pressure is applied. This is due to a faulty ABS Module. Through no fault of my own, I'm having to pay out of pocket for a fix that the MANUFACTURER is responsible for. ****Please issue a RECALL on the part. It will save you lives and money in the long haul.**** I've always loved Dodge/Ram Trucks. Please issue a recall.
Module Ani Lock Brake - CH68295368-AC
The ABS Control Module for 2014-2016 Ram 1500 trucks I'm getting a C2200 fault code; basically "ABS Module Internal Fault". My truck, like those of numerous other Ram owners, has a malfunctioning ABS Control Module. Because of this malfunction, the ABS and cruise control do not work. In turn, this places me and other owners of this vehicle in an unsafe situation in that lack of an operating ABS system is conducive to skidding and accidents.
ABS control module failed while driving. This also took out cruise control and electronic stability. This can cause brakes to lock up and/or a loss of control in inclement weather.
My problem is with my Ram ABS/Traction control, cruise control doesn’t work, 4 wheel drive will not engage. Having only rear wheel drive makes it hard and dangerous to drive on snow covered roads. Almost hit a semi head on because my traction control and 4 wheel drive doesn’t work. I’ve been waiting almost 2 years for a new ABS controller. Chrysler has put the part I need on back order like 5 times in the last two years and winter is coming and it’s not safe to drive my truck on snow covered roads. I don’t know what to do. I’ve seen and heard lots of people having the same issue with the RAM trucks. Please help. Thank you!
Warning messages stating to service ABS system, as well as service electronic brake system. Warning lights for the ABS, traction control, and parking brake come on on the dash. Usually comes after cold start in cooler weather.
ABS system. Says as soon as the vehicle is turned on. "Service Antilock Brake System" Then it Says, "Service Electronic Brake System" Then it says, "Service Trailer Brake System" and lights are on the left gage. The ABS and the Traction control. 3 times since taking my vehicle to get service the first time I have lost control. Once near my home turning into my street, my vehicle lost control and went into ditch. Second time it was raining, and light turned, and ABS did not engage and almost hit another vehicle. 3rd time my son was getting on the ramp and he lost control getting into the interstate was not raining but road was wet from rain earlier in the day. The licensed shop told me that Stellantis had so many of these and that of so many failures they had to change the way the module was made this was in March 2024. Now this is August 30th and after 3 weeks at a Ram dealer they called me to pick up my truck because the part is still not available to replace. They said that they are so many of these vehicles affected that they are not even allowed to place an order. So again, I am on the road with a vehicle that is a danger, and I can't fix because of the negligence of Stellantis.
I was driving the truck when the light came on for EBS (Electronic Braking System) and the steering wheel locked up then the truck dash read a warning stating "Service Power Steering". Through my research on Kelly Blue Book this is a common problem with this year make and model of Ram 1500 pickups yet mine doesn't have this as a specific recall. I also have an issue with the exhaust manifold bolts rattling loose separating the exhaust manifold separating from the rear of the engine block at the head. My father owns a 2014 Ram 1500 and had that same issue with his exhaust manifold and I know 3 other gentlemen that had the issue with the exhaust manifold I was wondering seeing as these are common problems with this generation of Ram 1500's if I could have these 3 issues put out as recalls on my specific Ram 1500 because with these common problems I feel like I shouldn't have to come out of pocket to pay for them. Please consider my complaint. Thank you.
the abs module brake setstem has not been working properly for about 9 to 10 months. when I call to see if dealership they keep telling that their engineers are still working on the problem. the problem can go out anytime. i would like for the NHTSA to investagate the problem. I was told that this problem is a big safety problem.
I have experienced a total ABS module failure. According to MOPAR this part is under engineering review and a replacement part cannot be purchased from this corporation whatsoever. MOPAR has refused to state any resolution for this problem and there is no expected due date for this part to be available again. I was told by MOPAR and the dealership where I bought this truck to go to a junk yard and buy a used one. This is complete unacceptible.
while driving the abs, traction control, brake lites came on,also cruise quit an service abs brake and service trailer brake appeared on dash this happened in april 2024 it does this evertime you crank it after a mechanic lookibg at it an me calling dealerships an looking on line there is thousands of ram trucks with this problem stallantis has known about part defects an stopped the production of it but they are not producing new ones so peoole like me that has only one vehicle are have to drive these unsave vehicle there is a class action lawsuit but it only list 2017 -2018 my truck is 2016 and on ram truck forums there are even 2015 with problem i am stuck with this unsafe truck because i cant sell it when there is no part to fix it
Vehicle lights on dash show “service electronic braking system”, brake light is on along with traction control light and abs light. Truck has 57k miles on it. Independent service used a code reader to determine abs module is bad. Dealer shows part on continual engineering hold. Due to the fault, no abs and no cruise control. This presents a serious safety concern for me and my family.
The warning lights for the ABS/electrical braking system module has come on with no issue with the vehicle's braking system. This causes the cruise control and anti-skid devices not to work. Upon trying to order a new module through tbe dealership, I have received nothing except the excuse that the release date for this module keeps changing. This has been happening since September of 2023. My concern is that if at some point there is an issue with my braking system I will not know due to the malfunction of the module. I have contacted Chrysler to no avail. They say the part is no longer being manufactured and I will have to obtain one through aftermarket makers. I have researched and checked on my own and with help from mechanics and this part is not made/available through aftermarket makers. Chrysler will not release the parts already made stating they do not want to provide me with a possible defective product. My argument is the product they have supplied in my vehicle is defective and they will not make it good by supplying a quality replacement. Therefore, they are putting their customers safety/lives at risk.
My service ABS Brakes light came on over a month ago. I took it into my service center and they told me they're unable to repair it, because the ABS module needed for it is not available. I took it into the local Dodge Ram dealership today and they told me the ABS module has been on backorder since Sept. 2023. They said they were supposed to have them in hand this past May, then this August. He read me a bulletin that stated the part is now under engineering review and will likely NOT be released until later this year. I live in Virginia, and we have state inspections. This vehicle is used every day to get me to and from work. It's a 2016. With the red brake light on in the dash, I can't get it inspected. I'm now paying for a vehicle I can't drive, can't get repaired, and have no available resources to get another car. Please help!
TOOK MY 2016 RAM 1500 TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ABS LIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE ABS CONTROL MODULE HAS FAILED AND THEY COULD NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THEIR ARE NO CONTROLERS AVAIBLE BECAUSE OF ISSUES WITH THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. THEY TOLD ME TO BE CAREFUL BECAUSE YOUR BRAKES COULD LOCK UP AND CAUSE TRUCK TO SLIDE OUT OF CONTROL. IT IS THE ONLY TRANSPERTAION TO GET MY DAD BACK AND FORT TO THE HOSPITAL TO HAUL HIS POWER WHEEL CHAIR
Abs control module not letting my truck go in gear
In December 2021, my husband, [XXX] and I purchased a 2016 Ram 1500. We currently only have 37,600 miles on it. Last month, my husband brought the truck into the dealership because the ABS light would occasional light up. We were advised that the ABS module needs to be replaced, but the part was backordered and has been for years apparently. On July 11, 2024, I called and spoke to MOPAR RAM representative Kimberly (Case No. [XXX]) and was told all ABS modules for RAMs are under "engineering review" that there was no eta on the parts and that they could do nothing. Obviously we have put very low millage on the truck and only purchased a few years ago. Having an ABS issue is considerably a huge safety concern and renders the truck un-drivable. When I discussed with Mopar's service representative, she said she could do or tell me anything further. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
This complaint is to acknowledge a problem with my 2016 Ram 1500; I understand that NHTSA is currently investigating the issue. I urge NHTSA to require a recall on this in order to expedite a solution. The following warning lights are present: service ABS system, traction control, check engine, brake (parking brake engaged), check fuel tank cap; the turn signals also blink fast and problem message is present. Inspection is available upon request. The main safety concern is whether or not the brakes are functioning properly. It seems as though the dealer is aware of this widespread issue and the parts needed to fix the issue are unavailable and have been unavailable for an extended time. October 2023 is the date when I had the truck evaluated, if I recall correctly.
Driving my ABS , traction control light and brake light all came on. Took to Garage and was told it was my ABS module pump control unit and was told part was not available and was under redesign. with no idea when avaiable and that there would likely be long wait when it does. My concern is do not believe safe to drive with all these lights on as if another problem occured in this system a person would not know and could lead to a incedent. I believe there should be a immediate recall on this issue for safety reasons as my research shows the apperance that this is a far reaching and widespread problem
The brake, ABS brake, traction control lights are lit up on the dash. We took the truck to a dealership in March of 2024 to get the truck worked on. We were advised the the ABS Module has went out. The Ram dealership told us that the ABS module in question is under review, and it would be mid June before the review results would be available. We were told that we could still drive the truck, even though the ABS brakes aren't working. We have even asked about pulling our bumper pull travel trailer, and we were told we could also do this. It is now June 20th 2024 and we have yet to get a straight answer about the part being on recall or if everyone with the same issues is going to have to pay for the part that is apparently a manufacturer defect. We are afraid to drive the truck any distance because of this issue. And we definitely will not pull the travel trailer. We are stuck in Mississippi where we went for the winter. We would like to go back home to Oklahoma but we are afraid to drive that far with or without our trailer.
While driving at highway speed the ABS, Brake, Traction control lights illuminated and stayed on I was able to get the truck home and took to the dealer they read the codes and stated that it is an internal failure on the ABS module, he said there are hundreds of these with failures. He said he would see about ordering a new module but the lead time would be 6 to 8 months as the parts are not available from Dodge and some are still in engineering for redesign. This needs to be a recall to get them off their duff and produce parts and replace for customers. The service advisor said would not hurt to drive truck but others online have said it could cause brakes to lock up and is dangerous to drive with this failure.
I have a 2016 RAM 1500. At 50k miles, the ABS light and the brake light came on. The message states “service ABS braking system”. I went to NAPA to get the code read and they said that I need the ABS Electronic Brake Control Module and the Brake Fluid Pump assembly replaced and that it could be very dangerous to drive my truck and in fact, if I keep driving the truck without it being fixed it was a danger to myself and others. NAPA called to order the parts and they said that it was back ordered by 3 days. The date of was 5/21/2024. They have NO date when they will have the vital parts to make my truck stop in the manner and condition that I bought the truck. I went online to do some research and I found out thousands of people are waiting years to get these parts and for every model and year since approximately 2012. The Dodge RAM people are not making the parts. They say it’s under “engineering review” or that they are simply backordered, FOR YEARS!!! So let me get this straight, THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE DRIVING THEIR TRUCK ON THE ROAD IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION BECAUSE THE RAM PEOPLE “REFUSE” TO MANUFACTURE THE PARTS. This is what I’m being told. That my truck, that I paid a lot of money for and incidentally is paid off, doesn’t have the vital parts in it to make it stop effectively. I wrote to them to find out about the parts. The response that I got was telling me that the parts are no longer under warranty. I didn’t ask that question I asked when can I get the parts. And they never will answer the question. Why is this not under a number one priority for the safety of individuals and the general public? Why are people allowed to drive their RAM around when every one of the modules is failing in every RAM? I was told by NAPA that the modules are all failing around 50,000 miles. And again, they warned me not to drive my truck. How are we all supposed to get to work?
Vehicle has warning message regarding ABS, Electronic Brake System, and Trailer Brake System, and there is not nothing it can be done because manufacturer does not have part in stock, which restricts vehicle usage due to safety issues. I have tried thru several means to purchase the part without positive results.
My ABS/Brake/Traction alarm is lit up on my 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn (99.5k miles) and I was notified that the part is not available from Mopar/Dodge. It has been checked out by Firestone and confirmed by them that the part is not available.
Electronic braking system, traction control system and cruise control are non-operational. This problem affects all vehicles travelling on the road with me. The problem has been confirmed and diagnosed by a dealer. Warning lights on the dashboard are constant, along with "service electronic braking system" on engine start-up. This fault started in November, 2023. The dealership is unable to procure a replacement ABS module. Why is this not a recall issue? This fault prevents the vehicle from passing inspection.
ABS module is not communicating with the vehicle which is a known issue with Ram 1500. No repair parts are available and have not been available from Ram in over a year.
The Antilock Braking System (ABS) warning light illuminated in approx December 2023, and I took it to the dealership. The dealership service center confirmed that the ABS Module is bad, and requires replacement. The component is still under warranty, so the dealership ordered the module. The dealership stated in December that the component is "on backorder," but should be available by March 2024. It is now April 2024 and I just checked with both the dealership and RAM headquarters, and still no ETA on the part (still on "backorder"). This IS THE BRAKING system! If RAM wanted to do anything about it they could (take parts of a new vehicle, pay more to have one built, etc), but they're doing NOTHING. Again, this isn't AC or the radio... it's brakes, a safety issue. Please help. Thank you.
Abs keeps going in and out due to a faulty abs module control. Thousands of people are having this issue and No parts are being made because they are under engineering review. Meanwhile we are not safe driving with faulty abs modules that the manufacturer is fully aware of.
ABS failure resulted in life-threatening failure of the trailer-brake-system, and associated traction and cruise control November 5th 2023 while towing 7,000 lbs on the Interstate. Local dealership was of no help whatsoever (see attached). This is a widely reported issue on various forums.
Loss control while going down the highway, as the traction control is not working, I loss control when the road had a slight hill and curve. It has been a little under a year since my ABS module/control as gone bad. This causes the loss of traction control, ABS braking and other issues. This is a safety concern as the traction control is needed and brakes lock up without the ABS. This is a well-known issue with 2012-2017 Ram's. The main issue is the part is not available to correct the issue which makes this an even more serious safety issue.
Been inspected by the dealer. ABS modules as with many other owners cannot be replaced due to a lack of inventory on a vehicle less than 10 years old. Abs and traction control lights stay on as well as having the brakes locking up during wet conditions. It’s completely unsafe and too widespread for the company not to have a solution. Much less at the owners dime due to a flawed design.
ABS and Traction control light is on in the instrument cluster indicating a failure of the anti lock brakes. I took my vehicle to my local Ram dealer and they did a system scan. One of the results was a defective ABS module. I was told by the dealer that a replacement module was not available due to national backorder. They could not give me any date of availability to correct this dangerous failure. I shopped all over for a after market module but was told it was a Ram dealer item only. So I either have to continue to drive my truck without the aid of antilock brakes or try to buy a used module from a scrap yard and see if it will restore my ABS function.
ABS Service light is on. Brake light also comes on periodically. Replacement part is unavailable. I have been to multiple service locations to have the issue resolved. At this point I'm told by the Dodge Dealer Service people that they cannot order the part until March 20....On top of that the part repair is over $3000. This: 1) is a common problem with Dodge RAMS and many others from what I've discovered in my research 2) Is a safety issue that is not being properly addressed and escalated. 3) Should not be a short supply part if it's a safety component 4) Needs immediate attention by Dodge
Abs/Hcu are faulty causing abs and traction control systems to not function causing hazardous conditions while driving
ABS module, traction control, cruise control not working due to failed ABS module. Yes it can be inspected. RAM dealership saying to drive it. Puts myself, my family, and others at risk due to failed braking. ABS is a safety feature that is required in newer vehicles but isn’t working. Dealer confirmed and also by 3rd party mechanic. Yes. Abs and traction control lights on. Appeared to fully not work December 2023. Had intermittent problems before starting back in 2019. I cannot afford to drive a rental car for the unforeseen future while Chrysler takes their time to figure out a statement. It isn’t right for the customers and other drivers to be put at risk for their engineering problems. Now my truck cannot be traded in at the max value due to the ABS module failure so the customer loses money trying to get from under the non safe vehicle. Please help and save peoples lives by making Chrysler own up to their failed engineering.
Has had the "Hemi tick" ever since I bought it new. But didnt seem to effect performance, so I thought.......Time went on and the "tick" became louder and louder even though I got the oil changed religiously, air filters, tires, (2) tune ups, all proper maintenance was performed for the livelihood and longevity of the truck accordingly and have receipts to back up that claim. Now, at about 100,000 miles i had to replace the rear differential and axle of which i noticed was a recall of the same year and same truck but they say according to my vin number there are no recalls.......well, we need to include my truck in some of these because ive already paid out of pocket for the same problem listed in the recall. Also, regarding the active class action "HEMI TICK" lawsuit, low and behold, as i accumulated more miles, it gravitated to a loud tick, and an extreme loss of power when trying to accelerate to get on a highway or pass somebody on the highway, or even just take off from a green light.....it runs higher rpm than normal, the combustion is incorrect for sure, If I needed to hit the gas to get out of the way of danger, chances of success are grim. Twice I was on the highway going 70 and it straight up died, went blank! We were ok, thank God! My miles per gallon has dwindled away lower and lower getting about 8-11 mpg. It overheated this last summer in this condition. Anytime I parked and idled i had to have the hood open to prevent overheating. Took it to a couple auto shops and after replacing the fan clutch twice, the PCM, the throttle body/position sensor, accelerator position sensor, radiator flush, new radiator cap..........we cleared all error codes being we replaced the problems causing it to present a clear operating truck error free. .........all except the engine light when turning the key to power on, it blinked 10 times. Took it to dealership who quoted 800 to tear down the engine to get to the lifters and camshaft. 5,250.00 quote for lawsuit problem.
Vehicle ABS system, brake, and towing problem warning lights are on as well as loss of cruise control. I started noticing my cruise control not functioning properly about a month or two prior to total failure. The local RAM dealer in Live Oak, FL. verified problem and admitted this has been an ongoing issue. Replacement parts are not available with a tentative availability date in March. In my research I have found these estimates of part availability to be hopeful guesses. In the meantime I am not able to tow my travel trailer or utility trailer due to this unsafe condition. My vehicle has approximately 82,000 miles on it and for this to be happening to so many of these similar vehicles is unacceptable and Chrysler be held liable for this issue. I cannot safely take my family on vacation with our travel trailer without having use of the trailer braking system. I cannot sell the vehicle like this nor can I afford to buy another vehicle to replace this RAM 1500. Thank you.
The ABS light and traction control light came on and the cruise control stopped working. Brakes are spongy and require increased peddle pressure to stop. According to dealership the problem is the ABS module. A new ABS module will not be available until May 24.
ABS CONTROL MODULE FAILED. LOSE OF TRACTION CONTROL, CRUUSE CONTROL, AND ABS. DEALER CONFIRMED BY DIAGNOSTIC TEST. DEALER STATED THE CONTROL MODULE HAS BEEN PULLED FROM MARKET BY ENGINEER FOR DESIGN REVIEW. PART IS UNAVAILABLE.
ABS control module failure. Chrysler advised they are not producing replacement parts. Have been unavailable for over a year. Advised part may be available in 4 months but no assurance it will be. No aftermarket option not rebuilt parts. Dealer advised to just drive vehicle. Failure has disabled ABS, traction control, stability control, cruise control and electric trailer brakes making vehicle less safe to operate and incapable of towing. Failure occurred while towing travel trailer in rainy, mountainous conditions.
In February 2022 while driving my ABS light came on and stayed illuminated. I pulled over emergently on the freeway worried that my brakes were out. That was not the case, but the light was on and I was not sure if the vehicle could be driven. I got home and called Cutter Pearl City asap and was told that appointments were months away for service/diagnostic (I can only assume that this was due to COVID). I then took it to Capital Auto Repair in Waipio and had them read the code. I was told my ABS module was faulty and needed to be changed, at this point my 2016 truck only had 45000 miles on it and is well cared for-I disappointed but accept that a repair is necessary to drive my car safely. I called back Dodge to discuss my concerns and that I wanted the repair asap for the part. I was then told that the part was on National back order, no other information was available to me but I was again told that repairs were also being booked out a few months even with a diagnostic but that because it was on national back order it was not worth bringing it in at that time. I reached out to Honolulu Autoworks who is known to repair Dodge and Jeep and was told that if the part is on National Back Order he would not be able to get an OEM replacement. We have since placed this problem on the back burner but began having new code stating electronic throttle issues so finally took it into Autoworks-he is unable to repair anything without first repairing ABS issue because it is a "hard" code and per Dodge parts the parts are still on back order under "engineer review until 3/2024". The ABS module is $552 and the pump is recommended to be repaired at the same time is $1545 plus the labor. I am dumbfounded that this is not a recall a tthis point. I have been on forums and there are so many complaints. I have owned Ram/Dodge/Chrysler vehicles all of my adult life. I am questioning buying one in the future and am upset that this repair on a truck with 51000 miles is impossible!
Service Electronic braking system. ABS dashboard light illuminated. Traction control symbol illuminated. Dashboard brakelight illuminated. Faulty ABS control module diagnosted by independent repair center.
Abs brake light is on and cruise won’t work with brake light on told by dealer ABS MODULE HAS FAILED manufacturer has no idea when parts will be available This needs to be a recall don’t know if abs brakes will ever work
The vehicle has a faulty ABS module, which has resulted in my truck losing traction on dry roads and wet roads, however the “wet” roads are a result of a minimal sprinkle. The vehicle is beyond a vital component of my ability to make a living, i work in construction and have to be able to safely move equipment and supplies to sites; as of right now I am unable to drive the vehicle. The faulty ABS module caused my brakes to lock while pulling out of a park space with a slight incline in my place of employment, resulting in the sliding backwards towards a company vehicle and to avoid hitting it I moved the steering wheel to collide with a brick wall. The brakes and rotors were replaced a few months earlier this year as well as the truck being serviced regularly, however, the truck has continued to have parts fail throughout this year. From the starter to the fuel injection system, pump, gaskets between the engine and fuel intake, and now the vehicle is literally completely unsafe to drive and operate on the road! The traction control regulator is apart of the ABS system control module! I have looked everywhere (Firestone, DARCARS, Ect.) to find a replacement part and have been told that there are none available until sometime in March of 2024! There are no other options for me to reach out to. The vehicle can be inspected if requested, the issue appeared 3-4 weeks ago before being brought into the firestone shop before being serviced for faulty gaskets and fuel injection issues. The vehicle is under 100,000 miles, and I purchased it with just over 43,000 miles. I am in the process of contacting my insurance company and collecting the various service charges from different repair shops resulting in the inability to get the part.
The Anti-Lock Brake System Control Module as well as the Hydraulic Control Unit associated with the ABS Control Module. The left front Caliper locked up while driving. My safety and the safety of the passengers in my vehicle were at risk, as well as the other vehicles nearby. The vehicle has been inspected and diagnosed by an independent service center, Aaron's Auto Repair and Tire, 2623 Knight Avenue Waycross, Ga, 912-387-0503. The part is showing as being on national back order, so it was unable to be fixed. This is the only vehicle I have available to commute to work. There were no warning lamps prior to the incident, however, the warming lamp came on almost simultaneously.
BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME & ESC STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. ANTILOCK BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. TOOK IT TO JACK POWELL DODGE IN ESCONDIDO CA AND THEY SAID MODULE & MANIFOLD WAS BAD BUT THAT IN WAS UNDER ENGINEERING REVIEW & IS UNAVAILABLE NOW. THEY WILL CALL WHEN THEY CAN GET IT BUT IN THE MEAN TIME THE TRUCK IS GOOD TO DRIVE.
Same issue as NHTSA is investigating on RAM 2500 is occuring on RAM1500 frequently. ABS computer failure. Warning lights on for ABS, ESC and parking brake. My RAM dealer found defective ABS computer and told me its on back order. My issue popped up in August and apparantly back order is until at least/earliest March of 2024. This is based on multiple comments found on internet from others with same issue. If comments are true, backorder is not for procuring parts but for engineering to advise a solution. Clearly RAM is aware of the issue yet has not issued a recall or offered any solution. According to nhtsa own site there are multiple reports of this type failure on RAM 1500s. Also here is another link to a site where people list there complaints with many related to same symptoms: [XXX] While this has not caused an accident or issue, No one can answer how safe is it driving a vehicle with these lights on and confirmed computer issue -by dealer. Should everyone with this issue just not drive vehicle for months on end? Apparantly that is what RAM is hoping for or crossing fingers and hoping crashes/liabilities are minimal? Please step in and drive RAM to issue a recall and push them to expediate a fix. Thanks. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The ABS and traction control lights come on and off intermittently. When on the cruise control also doesn't work. No traction control or Automatic braking control. Seems to be a common problem with RAM 4x4 trucks.
The ABS light, break light and traction. Control due to either a faulty abs modul or tip computer. Dealers unable to replace until MAY 2024. Concern is the abs breaking and traction control for safe driving. From what I have read this is a common problem that needs to been corrected.
My truck has an abs light warning that came on. When I went to start vehicle the shifter knob (electronic) says it needs service. Cannot drive vehicle. Have towed vehicle to 3 different garages and all say the ABS module needs to be replaced. This part 68295368AC is not available new in the United States. Apparently the part is being redesigned and will be released in April of 2024. The dealership said I could find a used or refurbished one but would not be warrantied if installed. I have been through every junkyard that has a website and every parts supplier. No used part available. I have a truck I cannot drive and the dealership does not provide a loaner and basically said it's my problem. How can a major motor vehicle manufacturer be able to not support it's own product. The truck is a 2016 and I understood the manufacturer had to provide products for 10 years after date of manufacture.
The ABS module failed on my truck and was replaced using an OEM part. The newly installed module worked for a few months, but failed. Upon failure the speed control failed, the ABS light came on and the truck was stuck in the middle of the street where I tried to restart the vehicle. The truck wouldn't shift into drive or neutral to be moved. The truck was unable to be moved and it took multiple restarts to get it able to be driven again. I have tried to get a new part for repair from Dodge (Ram) and they informed me the part is not being sold due to an engineering review being completed by the company that was going through March of 2024. The truck is far too dangerous and unpredictable to drive in this state and there is no way to repair the issue. What recourse is there to have an operational vehicle for use? This alone tells me Dodge knows there is a problem and they are unwilling to do anything about it in the immediate future. This repair is $1,000 to $2,000 every time it is completed.
Two years ago I experienced the warning lights coming on my dash with the ABS, Brakes and one other one I can't remember. The truck locked up and I had to have it towed and the two driver had trouble getting it loaded. The repair shop replaced the ABS module & hydraulic assembly with a rebuilt part. Two weeks ago, the same brake failure happened with the locking up and the lights. I've been told by the dealer and repair shop that the ABS module is on a national backorder due to waiting on the engineering review to be complete with no estimated time to release a new part. All the dealers and repair shop have said I should not drive it. I learned two years ago that this is a very wide spread issue with this model and there's been no recall issued. The fact that the brakes can lock up while driving is the utmost form of safety issue. I am now without a vehicle and Dodge will not provide any type of support to help with a rental care. The ABS module has a design defect and is known by Dodge to be defective. The part # is 68295368AC.
ANTILOC BRAKING SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING DUE TO A FAILED ABS MODULE
The ABS Module has Failed at 66,829 miles. I just left the Dealership Magic City 1750 Independence Blvd, Bedford, VA 24523 who advised me that they have had other trucks with the same issue. This Part is not available "under engineering review until March, 2024" and the same part has been re-engineered 3 times already. I currently have a warranty that will expire before the part is available.
ABS,BRAKE AND ANTI SKID INDICATOR LIGHTS ON DASH. Took to brake shop and determined that the ABS module is defective and the system is not working properly they determined that it is a manufacture issue and take to dealer for replacement. Contacted dealer and was told that the issue is widespread and they can not even order replacement part until AUGUST 2023 it is MAY right now. Brake shop reports that the system is not working and cautioned driving until repaired and is a SAFETY CONCERN. Seems to be a problem throughout these years of RAM and feel the manufacture should be proactive in making their vehicle safe to drive. They need to expedite the parts and probably should shoulder some of the costs for knowingly ignoring this issue in their trucks.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while approaching a traffic light and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact continued to depress the brake pedal to the floor and turned off the vehicle and the vehicle stopped. The contact restarted the vehicle, and the engine was still revving at full throttle. The contact turned off the vehicle for a second time. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.

At about 75,000 miles, the BRAKE, ABS and Traction Control lights on my dash came on intermittently. Shortly thereafter, they said on indefinitely. I have had diagnostics run and the shop confirmed that the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) and/or ABS Control Module has failed. I was told by the Dodge dealership that this is a known issue with Ram trucks of this generation and they have replaced countless HCUs/ABS Control Modules. These failures cause the ABS system to no longer function. It also disables cruise control. I understand NHTSA has already opened an investigation into a similar issue with heavy duty 2017-2018 Ram trucks, but this problem is common among 2016 models AND 1500 (not just the 2500 or 3500). I have encountered innumerable people online with this exact same problem. The dealership wants $2,000.00 for the repair.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact was driving at approximately 60 MPH, the contact stated he saw white smoke and thought it was his exhaust and another driver notified that the tire was on fire. The contact stated he had to drive the vehicle into a snow bank to stop the fire. The contact stated the fire started in the wheel compartment. The contact stated the ABS sensor illuminated the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the failure was diagnosed as the half shaft being fractured and the wheel bearing breaking. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number, however, the VIN was not associated with the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer stated that due to the recall remedy not being performed on the vehicle they were not going to repair her vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000

Air bag light stays led ,brake light on seat belt light is on,Sway light is on .was told D.P.S.was told to pass vehicle inspection anyway.
2016 Ram 1500 4x4 5.7 Hemi....ABS, Traction Control, BRAKE lights are all on. Had the DTS codes scanned and told the ABS Module is Bad (Internal Failure) as well as the HCU unit. Happened with approx. 24,000 miles but out of 36 month warranty. Well documented issue with these vehicles yet FCA will not recall nor help with repair. To make matters worse, the ABS module (part #68295368AC) is not currently available at all and there is no ETA either. Says part is discontinued on many Mopar parts websites. I, like who knows how many hundreds of others, are driving around with no ABS, Traction Control and also cruise control is automatically disabled. Also, the other day my Speedometer stopped working and I also lost power steering. This is a MAJOR safety issue and should have at least been covered by the powertrain warranty so at least I would not be liable for the approx $1800+ repair cost. The fact that the ABS Module is not even available is very worrisome at the very least. I have no choice but to drive my truck in this manner hoping I don't get into an accident due to failing brakes!!! I hope someone in your agency takes the time to review and research this issue and make FCA/Chrysler liable for repair of this major safety issue.
Abs module that controls abs, traction control, and few other areas dealing with brakes has become disabled since 11/21. Not sure what is going on but doesn’t seem to be of any importance to Chrysler and I’m not sure where else to turn. Seems that a safety issue would be of some kind of importance but apparently once you have driven the vehicle off the lot then it doesn’t pertain to them any more. Several attempts with the dealership to get repaired and attempted to contact Chrysler to no prevail…I am no a dealership so I am unable to obtain any information. Asking for assistance in why it’s so difficult for Chrysler to get parts in 8 months. After contacting dealer they are telling me it is no guarantee to get parts before 8/1/22. Brakes…vital for safety on highways wouldn’t you think?
ABS brakes and electronic braking system errors, The components and any error codes are available for inspection. When lightly holding the brake at a light I felt the abs activating in the pedal, again twice while driving within minutes from the first. I’m not a mechanic but I would think not having proper control of your brakes is a safety risk. I have not been to a dealer yet because it just happened and reading online forums it seems to be very common on my truck, hence my belief that a recall is needed. It has not been inspected by anyone yet. The warning lights came on for ABS and traction control along with a service ABS and a service electronic braking system messages. Prior to the messages a few sounds (like the seatbelt unbuckled sound) rang and a few seconds later the messages and the “pulling” feeling in the brake pedal.
79,000 miles on 2016 Ram 1500 eco 4x4 has differential problems and the back axle. Makes the transmission over heat. Brakes also go to the floor have to double tap on the brakes to stop.
On Tuesday January 4th 2022 I was driving my vehicle on interstate 10 at approximately 75 mph, as I was driving my vehicle lost all power and shut off leaving me with no brakes or power steering, I coasted to the off ramp. At which time I was coming up on an intersection where I attempted to apply my brakes to prevent me from rear ending several vehicles. My brakes did not engage properly my steering very stiff and hard to turn, I barley made it around the vehicles in front of me. I then coasted as far as the vehicle would go not being able to stop, leaving me in an active intersection right on the off ramp. I have contacted the manufacturer in regards to recall W58 which is the crankshaft position sensor and tone wheel which 85% of these trucks where recalled for. I was dismissed and told they would not speak with me again. After this I believe it is to my best interest to file a safety report with you guys!
Hello, The safety problem is while driving the truck the fuel gauge needle drops to empty intermittently and a warning light flashes. Now not knowing how much fuel is in the tank is dangerous because running out of fuel especially on the highway will stall the engine followed by loss of brakes and steering. The dealer said its an electrical fuel sender resistor card inside the fuel tank that is shorting out, that alone scares me. Searching online I found out it's a common problem among 2016 Ram trucks. I will not let my family drive this truck until the electrical problem is fixed. Thanks for reading!
I WAS DRIVING ON I 90 IN INDIANA. IT WAS RAINING AND THE ROAD WAS STRAIGHT. THE SERVICE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. A SHORT TIME LATER, I HEARD A NOISE AND SLOWED DOWN TO 50. THEN THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE EXPLODED. THE TIRE WAS RELATIVELY NEW (PAST JULY]) WITH LOTS OF TREAD. I PULLED ON TO THE SHOULDER AND GOT OUT TO SEE THE BRAKE GLOWING RED HOT AND SMOKING. I BELIEVE THE NOISE I HEARD BEFORE THE EXPLOSION WAS THE CV JOINT DISINTEGRATING. TRAFFIC WAS FLYING PAST AT 70 TO 80 MPH. I WAS IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE. THE TRUCK IS A 4X4.

ON 01/06/2020 I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION IN MY 2016 RAM 1500 EXPRESS ( 38,000 MILES ) AND AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE , THE PEDDLE WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR . AS I WAS NEARLY ABOUT TO COLLIDE WITH THE VEHICLES AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT/INTERSECTION AND FRANTICALLY PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDDLE , I FINALLY GOT THE BRAKES TO ENGAGE. WHEN I FINALLY CAME TO A STOP , I WAS HAPPY TO NOT HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND KEPT DRIVING THINKING WHATEVER HAPPENED HAD FIXED IT'S SELF ( SUNNY DAY , AND DRY PAVEMENT ) . THE NEXT DAY ON MY WAY HOME FOR WORK I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE PASSENGER REAR WHEEL , AND PULLED OVER TO CHECK IT OUT . I NOTICED THE ROTOR SCORED BADLY, AND THE OUTER PAD MISSING THE FRICTION MATERIAL , SO I PICKED UP A SET OF PADS AND WENT HOME TO PULL THE WHEEL OFF AND INSPECT . NOW , I HAVE BEEN A MECHANIC OVER 20 YEARS AND DONE WELL OVER A THOUSAND BRAKE JOBS/SERVICES ON HUNDREDS OF MAKES/MODELS OF VEHICLES , AND HAVE NEVER SEEN THE OUTER BRAKE PADS WARE OUT FIRST . THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 38,000 MILES ON IT AND THE FRONT BRAKES HAVE OVER 1/4" OF PAD LEFT , AND THE REARS HAVE ABOUT THE SAME , AND A BRAKE CHANGE IS A LONG WAYS AWAY , SO I WAS CURIOUS WHAT I'D FIND . I FOUND THE CALIPER TO BE IN GREAT CONDITION , GUIDE PINS / RACES TO ALL BE IN GREAT SMOOTH WORKING ORDER , AND WHEN I PRESSED THE PISTON BACK IN NOTICED GOOD SMOOTH OPERATION, ALL DUST BOOTS IN GOOD CONDITION , AND NO LEAKING BRAKE FLUID ANYWHERE . I DID HOWEVER FIND THE INNER PAD ABOUT 1/2 DELAMINATED ( FRICTION MATERIAL-TO-METAL BACK PLATE ) AND AN OUTER PAD WITH THE FRICTION MATERIAL COMPLETELY MISSING . I CLEANED UP ALL SURFACES , APPLIED PROPER GREASE , AND INSTALLED NEW PADS BECAUSE ROTOR WAS IN USEABLE CONDITION BECAUSE I CAUGHT THE PROBLEM QUICKLY . I AM CONCERNED THE OTHER PADS ON THE TRUCK MIGHT FAIL AS WELL CAUSING AN ACCIDENT , INJURY , OR FATALITY , AND WANTED TO REPORT

THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOM DINSDALE AUTOMOTIVE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (2800 OSBORNE DR E, HASTINGS, NE 68901, (402) 463-3104) AND A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TEST DRIVEN, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,545.

WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED TO A STOP THERE IS A SURGE THAT FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN HIT FROM THE REAR.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF GARAGE AND WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT SLOWING THE VEHICLE. PUMPED THE BRAKES A SECOND TIME AND THE PEDAL AGAIN WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT SLOWING THE VEHICLE. PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL A THIRD TIME AND THE PEDAL DID NOT GO TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES SLOWED THE VEHICLE ENOUGH SO THAT IT COULD BE PUT IN PARK. UPON BRAKE INSPECTION, THE FRICTION MATERIAL SEPARATED FROM THE BACKING PLATE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR INNER BRAKE PAD AND FELL OFF THE VEHICLE. THIS CAUSED THE BRAKES TO BE INOPERABLE FOR THE FIRST TWO APPLICATIONS OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AS THE BRAKE SYSTEM FLUID AND CALIPERS HAD TO MAKE UP THE MISSING SPACE OF THE MISSING FRICTION MATERIAL. MY BRAKE PADS HAD OVER 60% OF THEIR MATERIAL REMAINING SO IT IS NOT A MAINTENANCE ISSUE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT CAUSED PREMATURE FAILURE. IF I WERE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND THIS FAILURE OCCURRED, I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD ADEQUATE BRAKES AND WOULD HAVE GOTTEN INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. OTHERS COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED AS WELL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR AND THE BRAKE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, POWERED OFF THE ENGINE, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCPEEK'S CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF ANAHEIM (1221 S AUTO CENTER DR., ANAHEIM, CA 92806, (714) 635-2340), BUT NO FAILURES WERE FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE OEM TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER DOES NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH BRAKING POWER TO A TOWED TRAILER. THE TOWED SINGLE AXLE TRAVEL TRAILER WEIGHS JUST UNDER 4,000LBS FULLY LOADED. ALL GAIN AND TRAILER TYPE SETTINGS ON THE CONTROLLER PRODUCE THE SAME LEVEL OF BRAKING TO THE TRAILER AT ANY SPEED FROM IDLE TO 25-30MPH OR FASTER WHEN USING THE MANUAL BRAKE LEVER ON THE CONTROLLER. FACTORY OWNER'S MANUAL DESCRIBES THE PROCESS FOR SETTING THE GAIN IS TO MOVE THE MANUAL BRAKE LEVER TO FULL BRAKING SO THE WHEELS ON THE TOWED TRAILER LOCK UP AT 25MPH AND THEN REDUCE THE GAIN UNTIL JUST BEFORE TRAILER WHEELS LOCK UP. RAM DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THE CONTROLLER WILL NOT LOCK UP THE TRAILER WHEELS WITH THE MANUAL BRAKE LEVER BECAUSE THE COMPUTER READS THE SPEED OF THE TRUCK, AND IF FULL BRAKING ISN'T NEEDED, IT WON'T APPLY IT. THIS IS IN DIRECT CONTRADICTION WITH THE INFORMATION IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE OEM BRAKE CONTROLLER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, AND THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE TRAILER BRAKES ARE NOT GETTING THE PROPER AMOUNT OF POWER TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE WHILE TOWING. THE CONTROLLER WILL BARELY SEND ENOUGH BRAKING POWER TO SLOW AND STOP THE VEHICLE AT IDLE ROLLING SPEEDS OF 5-10MPH. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE FORUMS, NUMEROUS PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR RAMS MANUFACTURED IN MODEL YEAR RANGES FROM 2010 TO 2016.

MY 2016 RAM 1500 BIG HORN CREW CAB 4X4 ROLLED AWAY AFTER BEING PARKED. IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES THEN I HEARD A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE, TURNED AROUND AS MY TRUCK STARTED TO ROLL AND JERK DOWN THE DRIVEWAY WHICH HAS A SLIGHT INCLINE. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY TRUCK AND STOP IT BEFORE IT HIT THE PARKED CAR ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY KEPT IT FOR 2 DAYS AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO CODES RECORDED ON THE TRUCK AND THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ROLL AWAY. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY TRUCK FOR 6 WEEKS AND IT HAS LESS THAN 1200 MILES ON IT.

THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS BLEEDING DOWN; WHEN YOU PART THE VEHICLE FOR 24 HOURS, THE FIRST TIME YOU STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THERE IS NO POWER ASSIST. ONCE THE ENGINE STARTS, THE BOOST WILL RETURN. THE DEALER STATES THAT THEY HAVE 4 OTHER VEHICLES ON THEIR LOT THAT HAVE THIS SAME CONDITION, SO THEY STATE THAT IT IS "NORMAL OPERATION". THIS ISN'T CONSISTENT BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER VEHICLES AS THE BOOSTER SHOULDN'T BLEED DOWN. I'M CONCERNED OF A LOSS OF POWER ASSISTED BRAKING.
