In November 2025, while traveling at highway speeds, the High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP)—the very component installed to satisfy the Z46 recall—suffered a catastrophic failure. This resulted in an immediate loss of fuel pressure, smoke, and a total engine stall. The failure caused a loss of power steering and braking assistance, creating a severe safety hazard on an active interstate. The vehicle has been at the RAM dealership for over one month waiting on parts for repair.
I am reporting a critical safety failure involving my 2017 Ram 1500 with approximately 89,000 miles. The component that failed was the fuel‑tank support system, specifically the frame section that holds the fuel‑tank brackets and strap. The frame in that area had completely rusted through, causing the fuel tank to drop and hang dangerously close to the ground. The failed components are still on the vehicle and are available for inspection upon request. This failure created a severe safety hazard. A partially detached fuel tank poses an immediate risk of fuel leakage, fire, or complete separation of the tank while driving, endangering both myself and other motorists. The issue has been confirmed by an independent, certified mechanic. They advised that the corrosion was so extensive that the frame would need to be disassembled to attempt any repair, which they were unable to perform. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or any other official entity beyond the independent mechanic. There were no warning lamps, messages, unusual noises, or other symptoms prior to the failure. The problem became apparent only when I visually noticed the fuel tank hanging lower than normal. Given the seriousness of this defect and the potential for catastrophic failure, I am requesting immediate review and guidance on next steps.
The bracket connecting the fuel tank strap to the frame has broken and left fuel tank unsupported. Extreme fire hazard is fuel tank becomes disconnected or leaking
Unknown. We have owned this vehicle for almost 3 years now and we have had to replace 2 sensors, the cruise control will intermittently no disengage when buttons are pushed or brake pushed, replaced the full pump, sometimes it will lose all power going down the road, HD to replace the fuse box because it was getting and started to melt, it will try to start and will just keep cranking until you slam on the gas, and the rear window leaks every time it rains. We have paid for everything out of pocket and we are still having all these problems and the mechanics can not figure out the problem, but are guessing it the fuel pump or fuel injectors.
The diesel EGR Cooling System prematurely failed on a vehicle with low mileage and repaired at owner's expense. This defect allows pre-heated, vaporized coolant into the EGR system while the engine is running. In certain circumstances, this mixture interacts with other hydrocarbons and air in the system, potentially resulting in combustion within the intake manifold, which may lead to a vehicle fire. A vehicle fire may increase the risk of injury to occupants and persons outside of the vehicle, as well as property damage. Other than noting black residue in the coolant reservoir, there is no warning or notification to the owner that this dangerous condition had occurred, and that their safety may be at risk if not monitored. Previous model years had this same defect and are covered by Safety Recall VB1 / NHTSA 19V-757 Diesel EGR Cooler.
My fuel tank support strap failed. Just rust I presume I have the larger fuel tank as well. Filled it then shortly after heard a scraping sound.

Fuel sensor issues. 100's of complaints on Fuel Sensors and many reported to NHTSA. The gas gauge will not work and check engine light on, when checking code it is P0463,that is fuel sensor issue. It is dangerous not to know how much fuel is in tank. Again very common issue on Rams with 40K miles and less. Ram know about all these cases. It is a common problem that is ignored by Ram.
There is an extended warranty on the defective gas tank strap bracket, “X75”. When this part broke it caused damage to my driveshaft and to my fuel tank. The dealer says only the strap bracket is covered. This should be a recall, not an extended warranty. Damaged fuel tanks are a safety concern, and all damage caused by the failed bracket should be covered.
1) Exhaust Manifold and exhaust bolts. Cause exhaust leak and puts me at risk of exhaust coming into passenger area. Ticking on cold start up til warms up. It's been reproduced and diagnosed at dealership. Exhaust manifold and exhaust manifold bolts are a well known issue that's has been reported multiple times and seems to be ignored. 2) Ignition Lock Cylinder on start up intermittently it sounds as if gets stuck turning over and will power up for 1-2 secs and shut off. Been reproduced at dealership. 3)Evap system code.
I am writing this letter about a vehicle I purchased in November 2023. The vehicle purchased was a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Diesel from Rick Chevrolet in Virginia Beach VA. The truck has many defects. The first month I took it back for a leaking tire, broken windshield, oil leak and because it drove funny and I did not know what was wrong with it, but I knew something was wrong. They kept the truck for approximately a week or two. In April I hit a pothole in Norfolk off [XXX] and I didn’t know what had happened to the truck. I left it in Norfolk until the next morning because I could not get a tow truck to come out that night. I had my truck towed to Dodge, Ram and FIAT in Norfolk VA. They told me the Tie Rod, Axle, had broken. The Dealer then, told me that the truck would not align so they sent it to the Collision Center. The collision center told me that the truck had a bent frame and it did not happen due to the pothole. That the truck was a death trap and I need not to drive it that the dealer should not have sold me that truck. I went and talked to the Manager at Rick Chevrolet named Kerry and he said we could swap the truck, but I had to make a down payment of an excessive amount due to my credit. I did not know that this truck was a nightmare and I feel why should I have to pay for someone selling me a truck that can kill me and whoever is riding with me. I bought the truck because they are supposed to be safe. This is ridiculous and the dealership is not trying to help me out of this by putting me in a safe vehicle. I am paying for something that is going to cause me bodily harm or my life, and they want me to pay more to get into a safe vehicle. This truck should not have been sold and because it was, they need to take responsibility and swap me out of this death trap. Can you please look into this matter. The collision center gave me copies of what they did, and what they found wrong with the truck and a picture of frame being bent. Clogged particulate filter and catalytic converter No safety issue has been confirmed by a Ram dealer The vehicle has been inspected by the Ram dealer Engine light came on Dealer says the vehicle has to be driven a good distance to clean up the exhaust We only use the truck for short distances.
I was driving my truck and out of no where started to lose speed, pulled over immediately and lost all power. I didn’t drive my truck anymore because I noticed a knocking noise when I was able to get it back on. I contacted mopar and was advised to take in my truck for open recalls because of the High pressure fuel pump seemed to be exactly what happened to my ram. I took in my truck for the recalls, was called three days later and told I needed to replace all 6 fuel injectors costing me $5000.00, recall states high pressure fuel pump has to be replaced along with any damaged fuel components. Dealer tells me high pressure fuel pump was not broken. I know it was failing because of what happened to my ram.
The RAM 1500 fuel tank has a vent tube that breaks off and cannot be repaired. The only solution, per the dealer, is to replace the fuel tank and Chrysler does not have any available with no date for restocking them. The issue is the Check Fuel Cap light comes on and when the tank is full, it leaks gasoline (badly). Upon researching the issue, I found many RAM owners have had the same problem which tells me that there is a design flaw in the fuel tank. A fuel tank should last for the life of the vehicle. Please investigate
NHTSA 19V-757 recall was performed on 06/09/2020. Diesel EGR Cooler started leaking, again. I have a filing that dealer is still using defective part.
Dealers have failed to repair the recalls on my vehicle. Have been told by multiple dealers in the area that remedy is not available. With no information to when there will be a remedy. As Ram website says same thing. One recall has been open almost 2 years. Not only is this unsafe, I am paying on a vehicle that isn’t repaired yet.
A recall was received in June, 2022, regarding High Pressure Fuel Pump failing prematurely. “Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning.”No remedy was available. Today I received another recall notice for the same issue which said to schedule my free repair. I called my dealership at Winter Haven Dodge and was told they were only allowed to order 1 part per month and they had 15 vehicles ahead of me and he will schedule my repair on my turn. I feel that15 months is an unreasonable length of time to wait since I have been waiting for resolution of this matter since June, 2022.
Fuel Sensor Failure, check engine light comes on, causes to gas gauge to read empty and will disable mileage and remote start. 57,000 miles.
The fuel pump quit working, which immediately made the engine die. I was on a two lane road and there was no place to get off the road. There was no prior warning of the issue and there apparently have been no recalls, even though, Ram is very aware of the problem and and in some cases the engines have been damaged due to pieces of metal from the fuel pump getting into the engine. I know of other people who have had the same issue with gas powered Ram trucks and there is a lot of information on the internet. In addition to the safety issues that this creates, I had to pay to a portion of the cost to replace the pump. Part of the expense was covered by an extended warrantee. The truck only had about 47,000 miles on it when the pump failed and apparently that is about average for the failure. Ram should have to recall these units and foot the expense to avoid having dead vehicles in traffic lanes
Truck stalled on interstate was able to continue off interstate once on secondary road truck stalled and shut off. I was able to get it restarted and drive to near by RAM dealership where it has been sitting since. Dealer says the have been unable to get it to restart. The technician believes this is due to HPFP which was recalled over a year ago, parts for repair are still unavailable. Service engine light came on just prior to stalling. I contacted FCA they offered no resolution and stated they will not authorize loaner vehicle for recall issues leaving me with no transportation
The fuel tank's front support bracket completely rusted out. I was driving and started to hear a very loud grinding sound. The bracket gave way completely dropping the tank almost to the ground and pushing the fuel tank bracket into the drive shaft grinding into it. Luckily it didn't create a spark or wrap around the drive shaft. The fuel tank could've fallen down completely or a spark could've been created from the bracket and drive shaft hitting leading to a fire or worse. There are no other rust points like this on the truck. The brackets seem to be made from a thinner/weaker material which is prone to heavy rust. Vehicle has been in Kentucky most of its life and is only 6 years old. This issue could've led to me being seriously injured or killed. I am unaware if this problem has been reproduced but I am aware of a recall for the same issue on earlier model year trucks by RAM. The vehicle hasn't been inspected by anyone yet as it's the weekend but will be looked at at the start of the work week. There were no warning lights, symptoms or anything leading up to this failure. Everything was fine and then it just wasn't.
I’m filing a complaint on the recalls already on my vehicle. Neither one of my recalls have been fixed. I keep getting told parts are not available. When ask for timeline I am ignored by the dealers. They haven't even offered at this point to by my vehicle back or give me a vehicle that works correctly. I need some kinda of solution taken care of ASAP.
Fuel sensor failure causing check engine light to activate
While driving home from school with my wife and kids, my vehicle died in the highway at about 55 mph. I almost got rear ended by the vehicle behind me. I was lucky to roll it out to the side of the road without getting in a accident. Had the vehicle towed to a mechanic shop and was informed that the cp4 pump had failed and the whole fuel system was contaminated. I bough the truck 8 months ago, and still owe over 25 thousand dollars on it. This is my daily driver. I can’t afford paying for a broken vehicle. Had to borrow a car from family temporarily to use for everything. I don’t know where to get help with this case. Please help.
Mount for gas tank strap rotted and front fuel tank strap came off leaving fuel tank hang down. Luckily did not fall out of truck. This issue has had recalls on other model years but not 2017 which was a carryover model year so don’t understand why not. Could have been a very dangerous issue. Also a very expensive repair. I have never seen an issue with fuel tank falling out of vehicles that are not very old. This truck has only 60,400 miles also.
Manufacturer has not acted in a timely manner to resolve this known defect, FCA recall #Z46, NHTSA Recall #22V-406, which may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning, putting my safety and that of the public near me into peril should I continue to use my vehicle, or depriving me of my livelihood if I do not use my vehicle.
Fuel sensor failure, I can fill the tank and a sound will chime, then the Guage will show that the truck has no gas, this also turns off ECO mode, so now I'm burning thru more gas and not getting the fuel efficiency that I'm supposed to. If I don't track the mileage then I leave myself open to running out of fuel. Very dangerous.
RE: FCA Recall #Z46; NHTSA #22V-406 Premature High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) failure recall. It's been approximately 14 months since FCA issued its notice for a voluntary safety recall on inspection/replacement of the HPFP for my vehicle and no action has been taken by the manufacturer as of this date. The dealership still indicates that no repair parts are available.
While driving approximately 20mph my 2017 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel abruptly stopped/stalled on me for a second or two with no warning indications before or after. I was driving with my wife and two kids and am always very aware of driving cautiously and being aware of my surroundings. Fortunately, there were no vehicles behind us at the moment the truck stalled. The truck has not been inspected by the dealership but I have called my local Ram dealership to explain this to them and they informed me of a recall that I already knew about (22V-406). I've been placed on a list in the 80's for when the part arrive.
1-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL- GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE anti-lock brake code C0020-01 came on at 44185 miles. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they are telling me that The ABS unit needs to be replaced and that it is not covered under the warranty. this repair is going to cost me between $1200 and $2000. 2- At @ 30000 miles the FUEL INDICATOR LEVEL UNIT located inside the fuel tank went bad, showing that the tank was empty when the fuel tank was full. That part for the repair cost me $275 just for the part plus the installment pay. This vehicle is driven very little for All of these problems to be present. I think Dodge /Ram should stand behind their products and do the right thing and honor these repairs. Thank you.
My truck has the Z46 manufacturer recall and the NHTS 22v-406 recall for "High Pressure Fuel Pump failure". No parts are available for repair. the recall states " A HPFP failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system potentially causing fuel starvation. Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning." I pull my camper to remote parts of the country. my fuel pump, at time to time would make "noises" that had me concerned. I found a reputable Diesel repair shop that had a OEM part that would solve the recall. For reimbursment I needed 1)parts 2)Labor3)taxes4)related costs5)contact info. I submitted all this info to [email protected] on June 5. June 7 I was denied due to "out of warranty" proved I was not. On June 7 I was denied because parts were not covered, I showed them that they were OEM. On June 12 I was again denied this time because they did not like the way the clerk wrote the repair order diagnosis. I told them the dignosis was Z46 NHTS22-v406. They refused compenstion and anymore appeal. I followed all the rules, repaired my truck so it would not be a significant road hazard to me or others and expect compensation of $2210.75. Please help me, and others get compensation for doing the right thing while Stellantis nad FCA "wait for parts"
Currently there is an open and unresolved high pressure fuel pump recall that can leave me stranded on the highway and cause an accident. The length of time until a remedy can be had is unacceptable. Also there is a new recall to reprogram the ECU to "band-aid" a potential failure of the timing reluctor ring. It still has the potential to leave me broken down on the road and cause an accident. The delamination problem of the reluctor ring is another part that should be covered under a recall instead of a software program.
Truck has had issues with cranking but not starting consistently since owning. I have had it towed to multiple dealers who say they can not duplicate the issue. I take it home, drive it for a day or two and then it will crank and not start. I have paid multiple diagnosis fees, I have taken video of the issue and the dealer says they can't go by video they have to duplicate it. I have been stranded multiple times and can't rely on the truck starting when I need to drive it. The fuel pump has had a recall for a year now and dealer says they don't have parts to fix it. I am at a loss, there have been no warning light consistently, sometimes the engine light comes on when this happens and sometimes it does not. Dealer can't fix the fuel pump issue and I can't drive the truck without fear of being stranded and towed to dealer for them to say the same thing every time.
I know this is the fuel pump. No prior indications or lights. Stopped on highway. Able to move over and restart vehicle when light came on and vehicle stalled. Did this twice while getting to house out of state. Paid for the repair $16K after I argued sit was part of the recall. I was told not my year. Picked up the truck and drove about 10 miles when it did the exact same thing. I was lucky and was able to pull into a parking lot. I have tried to argue that the original failure was the recall and questioned why a recall part was placed back into the vehicle. I am without a vehicle with no repair in sight. There are two dates 04/06/2023 and 05:12/2023
The minute the gas hand gets below Full the gas hand goes to Empty and then goes back to Full over and over while driving On the dash it flashes “Fuel Level Sensor Failure” and it will do this til I fill the tank full. It shows recall letters to be mail in August 2023 can I get a copy of the letter please
Constant engine code for a very small evap leak. Vehicle was taken to C&C Automotive (4014 Washington Road, Augusta, Ga. 30907 || 762-685-5555) for a diagnostic. C&C Automotive advised that the leak was due to a faulty Fuel Control Valve, which appeared to be in a melted state. The vehicle has never been in a collision and has 11,000 miles. After some research it was found that there was a previous recall for the 2017 Ram 1500 for the same issue but I was told by Chrysler's Customer Service my Vin was not affected by the recall and I would have to pay for the replacement out of pocket. (Refer- NHTSA: 17V434/ Chrysler: T45)
While parking my truck, it had an unintended acceleration and my foot was not on the gas peddle. I was going about 1-2mph and the truck picked up speed unexpectedly and collided with my garage wall. I am unsure what component malfunctioned and it has not yet been inspected. Myself and my baby were in the car and luckily I was able to stop by hitting the brakes and putting the car in park. It continued to pull forward even with my foot on the brake. There was no warning or codes prior to or after the incident.
At the gas station pump notch on the gas nozzle getting stuck in the truck filler neck (every time i fill up). Very unsafe. sometimes I spend hour stuck at the gas station trying to remove the gas nozzle from my truck. In addition to the gas nozzle getting stuck, the automatic shut off is triggered repeatedly while fueling so that the tank can only be filled in spurts, and that gas spills when the gas nozzle is withdrawn.
My 2017 Ram ecodiesel fuel pump went out on the road. Completely died, had no steering nor brakes. The truck was stalled in the middle of the road due to the high pressure fuel pump and I had to get towed.
The Fuel Level Sensor assembly internal of the gas tank failed at 18k miles. A close inspection of the part revealed a manufacturer defect causing an open connection to develop on the carbon track measuring device. This type of situation caused the fuel gauge to go to E causing panic, and warning message appears in display while you are driving and audible alerts go off. I am an electrical engineer and have determined this part has an engineering defect and should be Recalled by RAM. Many complaints on the internet point to this issue and RAM-= is not correcting the issue. They are only using the same [art again for replacement and charging the customer over $600.00
After filling up the gas tank one morning, I was driving along the highway when suddenly there was a ding on the dashboard message saying there was a fuel sensor fail the fuel gauge indicated that I had absolutely no fuel and the miles remaining said zero it did this several times resetting itself and doing it again and it's still doing it 3 months later
On June 23rd, 2022, just arrived at a campground with a travel trailer. Noticed something hanging from under the truck. The 32-gallon fuel tank was just filled less than a mile prior to arrival. Upon further observation, the fuel tank hanging with only the rear fuel tank strap intact. The front fuel tank strap was still attached to the mounting bolt, however, the frame end was pulled through. The strap appears to be completely intact. The frame area that holds the strap was severely corroded and rusted out. There is very little rust anywhere on this truck. The front strap was then bent into the vehicles driveshaft by the hanging fuel tank, a cut a groove into the aluminum driveshaft. The damage may have compromised the integrity of the driveshaft as well. My vehicle is well maintained and cared for. I am a mechanic, however, I have it scheduled to be inspected at the Ram dealership. I will upload pictures as soon as possible. Prior research shows Ram truck model years 2009-2012 had the same issues. I reside in Wisconsin. If I did not notice this, the fuel tank would have fallen out, beyond any doubt, on our return trip and 30 plus gallons of fuel with it. It would have been hit first by our rear axle, and the then travel trailer.
Fuel sensor fails
Since owning my 2017 Dodge Ram I have had issues with the fuel nozzle becoming stuck in the tank this is every single gas station I have spent nearly 20 to 1 hr trying to get the nozzle out I have researched in-line and apparently this is an overwhelming issue as other people and in the dodge forum complained about this Several times the pump does not shut off because the nozzle is still engaged And when it was able to become dislodged via force gas has spilt everywhere I even had employees and a fuel truck driver try to get this off This is a huge safety and mechanical issue and I’m very frustrated my dodge dealer will not assist me because Ethel say it’s not under warranty It is getting stuck due to the angle of the filler tube between years 2015 and 2017 this last time Was just recent but other times every month Please help
When the truck gets to a half of a tank the fuel light will come on and the gauge drops down past empty as well as a check engine light will come on. This is getting more frequent and if this happens at a lower fuel amount there is a possibility of the unit running out of fuel and being in traffic or interstate highway. This could prove to be deadly.
WHILE DRIVING ON FWY ENGINE JUST TURN OFF AT 65MPH AND STARTED AGAIN?
The fuel sending unit failed on several occasions. The vehicle display would indicate low fuel and the gauge would go to full empty. On the third time it displayed I also got a check ending light. Not knowing if the tank was really empty, I filled and it took 11 gallons for a 26 gallon tank. Dealer indicated code P0463 fuel level sensor failure. Online there are lots of complaints of this happening with less than 50k miles. Why hasn't this become a recall? it is not safe to have sensor fail while driving due to distraction. Not to mention an unnecessary expense for the owner. Ram should have corrected this issue long before the 2017 model year.
In two occasions, the vehicle speed locked on and the vehicle began accelerating out of control. The dash message lit up stating electronic throttle control service. A quick internet search shows it is a common problem. I know many ram owners who have the exhaust manifolds break repeatedly. Both are severe problems.

Not knowing if the tank was really empty, I filled and it took 11 gallons for a 26 gallon tank. Dealer indicated code P0463 fuel level sensor circuit high. For the second time in about a year my truck has given the error code of "service electronic throttle control." I took it in and was told it was a computer update and it was fixed. Right at about a year later, the same error code appeared. With this error, power to the vehicle is reduced causing safety issues as your ability to maintain speed or accelerate is greatly diminished. I do not know if the part itself was inspected during the original service and computer update. There were no warning lamps or symptoms prior to the error message coming up on the instrument cluster.
The fuel sensor has failed which causes us not to know how much gas is in the vehicle. The vehicle only has 30,800 miles on it. There is another issue that we are currently getting checked. The vehicle would not start even with a jump. After leaving it on trickle charge we got to to start but the traction control light came on the service shifter light came, and it said there were no pressure in the tires. We parked the vehicle and had someone come pick us up due to us not feeling safe because it was shifting weird. We had to have it towed to a dealer and they are currently diagnosing it.
MY TRUCKS FUEL GAUGE SENSOR IS READING EMPTY EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A FULL TANK. CODE P0463 . IT IS FROM A FAULTY PART/ FLOAT ON THE FUEL PUMP. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM IN MANY RAM 1500 MODELS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. TRUCK STALLED AND THANKFULLY RESTARTED. I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE DEALERSHIP KNOWS THE ISSUES IN THE RAMS BUT WANTS ME TO PAY FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. HAVE OTHERS REPORTED THIS ISSUE?

I HAVE A 2017 RAM 1500 ECO DIESEL. I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL ON IT FOR THE DIESEL EGR COOLER. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN ONCE AND AFTER A COMPUTER CHECK WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY SAID THAT IT DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. CHRYSLER SENT ME MORE RECALL NOTICES THAT SAID I NEEDED TO GET IT REPAIRED. I SPOKE WITH CHRYSLER AND TOLD THEM THAT I HAD IT CHECKED AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I DID NEED TO HAVE THE RECALL FIXED. I SCHEDULED ANOTHER APPOINTMENT FOR OCT 16 TO GET IT FIXED. AFTER MY TRUCK WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP ALL DAY, I DECIDED TO CALL AND GET THE STATUS ON THE REPAIR ONLY TO BE INFORMED THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT GOING TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR LEAK. I FOUND THIS ODD FOR A SAFETY RECALL, SO I CHECKED WITH CHRYSLER AGAIN AND READ THE RECALL INSTRUCTIONS. THE INSTRUCTIONS CLEARLY STATE THAT THE RECALL IS TO BE FIXED AND THE ONLY REASON TO CHECK FOR A LIGHT OR A LEAK IS TO SEE IF THE MANIFOLD IS BAD ALSO. IM NOT SURE WHY ANY SAFETY RECALL WOULD NOT BE FIXED ASAP, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE RECALL SAYS TO GET IT FIXED IMMEDIATELY..
FUEL SENSOR FAILURE: AS SOON AS THE FUEL LEVEL IN THE TANK GOES BELOW HALF TANK WHILE DRIVING, THE SENSOR FAILS AND SHOWS NO FUEL IN THE TANK. DRIVER HAS NO ACCURATE IDEA OF THE CORRECT FUEL AMOUNT UNTIL YOU REFILL THE TANK TO ABOVE THE HALF TANK LEVEL. THERE IS A RECALL THAT EXIST FOR OTHER MODELS OF 2017 DODGE RAM 1500 TRUCKS. (RECALL # 17V434000). MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THE RECALL LISTED UNDER ITS CRITERIA. AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO GET THIS RECALL APPLIED TO MY VEHICLE AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE MANAGER WOULD NOT, OR COULD NOT, FIX THIS PROBLEM ON MY VEHICLE WITHOUT AN APPLIED RECALL. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NOV 26TH, 2017. THE 1ST OCCURRENCE OF THIS MALFUNCTION WAS IN JUNE 2018. *TR

I WENT THROUGH THE NOTIFICATION TABS AND WENT TO MESSAGES AND WHEN I OPENED THE MESSAGE IT READ, "FUEL SENSOR FAIL" ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND BOTH LIGHTS STAYED ON. FUEL GAUGE STILL READS EMPTY. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 40350 MILES ON IT AND SEAMS TO BE TOO SOON FOR ANYTHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN.

FUEL SENSOR FAILURE ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. ONE WAS REPLACED (FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR) AND THE OTHER HAS NOT BEEN YET DUE TO THE VERY HIGH PRICE OF THE REPAIR ($800 - $1000). FUEL GAUGE READS FULL AND THEN SUDDENLY DROPS TO EMPTY. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.

AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK TO FULL, ENGINE LIGHT COMES OUT, ECO STOPS WORKING AND FUEL GAUGE GOES CRAZY BY GOING DOWN TO EMPTY AND BACK TO FULL
Mileage: 28,500
FUEL SENSOR HAS FAILED AT 42000 MILES WHILE IN MOTION. LIFTERS HAVE MADE BAD NOISE SINCE NEW, DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACE LIFTERS BUT NOISE IS STILL THERE INTERMITTENTLY WHILE SITTING STILL ON START UP

FUEL NOZZLE GETS STUCK WHEN FILLING UP AT GAS STATIONS. I'VE HAD THIS TRUCK A YEAR AND A HALF NOW AND IT'S SO FRUSTRATING. CANNOT GO TO COSTCO AS IT GETS STUCK AND CONSTANTLY CLICKS OFF, 10 GALLONS AFTER THIRTY MINUTES! ON ANOTHER INSTANCE THE ATTENDANT HAD TO COME OUT WITH A SCREWDRIVER AND PRY UP THE NOZZLE AND YANK IT OUT! ON A NEW TRUCK? SERIOUSLY! IT'S A DOCUMENTED ISSUE ALL OVER THE INTERNET, FCA MADE THE FUEL ANGLE TOO STEEP AND NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO ADJUST ONCE IT'S IN THE NECK. I NOW HAVE TO BARELY INSERT THE NOZZLE SO IT DOESN'T CLICK IN OR SEAL AGAINST THE FILLER NECK, BYPASSING THE EPA CONTROLS AND HOLD IT SO IT WON'T GET STUCK OR CLICK OFF! SO IN ESSENCE TO FUEL UP I HAVE TO POLLUTE MORE, STUPID! IF IN DOUBT CHECK THE INTERNET FOR RAM OWNERS FORUMS, IT'S ALL OVER THE PLACE.

JUST BOUGHT A USED TRUCK FROM VANDEHEY BRANTMIER IN CHILTON WI THREE MONTHS AGO AND THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAIL LIGHT COMES ON CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT NEEDS A FUEL LEVEL SENSOR AND PUMP. MY 2017 RAM 1500 NEEDS THIS AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR ANYTHING AND THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR A LONG TIME BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 RAM 1500. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS FILLING THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL NOZZLE BECAME STUCK ON THE FUEL FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GROWN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 6300 KING DR, VENTURA, CA 93003, (805) 918-4485) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL FILLER NECK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL FILLER NECK WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

FUEL SENSOR FAIL, ONCE FUEL GETS TO JUST BELOW HALF A TANK, THE FUEL SENSOR FAILS AMD GAS GUAGE DROPS TO EMPTY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, ALSO THE ECO SUSTEM WILL FAIL FOR FUEL SAVINGS. I FEAR THE TRUCK WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE IT WILL THINK IT HAS NO FUEL. I HAVE RESEARCHED MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ON LINE. ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE 4/15/19. MILAGE ON TRUCK IS 46000. MILEAGE IS SAME AS PREVOIUS COMPLAINTS FOR SAME ISSUE.

I CAN HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS AND IT WILL SAY LOW GAS AND THE GAS LIGHT WILL COME ON SOMETIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND READ FUEL SENSOR ERROR

GAS STATION FUEL FILLER NOZZLE GETS STUCK IN VEHICLE FUEL FILLER NECK. THIS HAPPENS REPEATEDLY AND AT DIFFERENT STATIONS. NO VISIBLE VEHICLE FAULTS. ATTEMPTS TO REMOVE FILLER NOZZLE HAS CAUSED CUTS TO HANDS AND SPILLED FUEL.IT SOMETIMES TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES TO FREE FUEL FILLER WITHOUT DAMAGING VEHICLE. MUST DEFEAT VAPOR RECOVERY BY COLLAPSING RUBBER BOOT IN ORDER TO FUEL VEHICLE. DEALER NOT INTERESTED .VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY PARKED AT GAS PUMPS FOR REFUELING. *DSY

MY 2017 RAM 1500 QUAD CAB HAS A FUEL SENSOR FAIL. I LOOKED IT UP AND APPARENTLY MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH RAM TRUCKS.
Mileage: 38,000
THE GAS PUMP NOZZLES NO LONGER WORK WHEN FILLING UP THE TANK. IT SEEMS THAT THEY DO NOT LIKE THE ANGLE OF THE FILL NECK ON THE TRUCK. THEY SHUT OFF AFTER ONLY ABOUT 1/2 GALLON IS USED INTO THE TANK.
Mileage: 15,000
THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FOR THE PAST APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES INTERMITTENTLY QUITS READING THE FUEL LEVEL. THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE IN THE DASH CLUSTER DROPS TO EMPTY, REGARDLESS OF THE ACTUAL FUEL LEVEL. THE MESSAGE 'FUEL SENSOR FAILURE' APPEARS ON THE DASH CLUSTER. SOMETIMES IT STAY FOR A FEW SECONDS, AND OTHER TIMES IT STAYS FOR A FEW MINUTES. THEN IT RETURNS TO WORKING ORDER AND GIVES AN ACCURATE READING OF THE FUEL LEVEL. OTHER TIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND I HAVE TO CLEAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH A CODE READER. CODE READER STATES CODE P0463 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. THIS CODE APPEARS WITHOUT THE FUEL GAUGE CHANGING.

MY RAM 1500 JUST ROLLED OVER THE 36K FACTORY WARRANTY AND MY TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAM AND MY FUEL LEVER INDICATOR FAILED. I AM AFRAID THAT THE TRUCK WILL SHUT OFF WHEN THE FUEL LEVER DROPS TO E BUT I KNOW THERE IS FUEL IN THE TRUCK. ALSO WHEN MY TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON THE ECO FUEL SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK ANY MORE. NO MESSAGES APPEAR ON MY MESSAGE PANEL. WHEN THE FUEL SENSOR FAILURE HAPPENS I AM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND I JUST MADE A LEFT TURN. I HAVE ALSO HAVE ISSUES WITH MY RADIO TURNING ITS SELF OFF OR ADJUSTING THE VOLUME BY ITS SELF.. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED MY DIGITAL ODOMETER READING TO JUST DISAPPEAR AT RANDOM TIMES. MY TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY. IT IS SAD THAT I BOUGHT A NEW TRUCK WITH 12 MILES ON IT AND NOW I HAVE ALL THESE PROBLEMS. I JUST DON'T TRUST THE TRUCK AND DON'T FEEL LIKE IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE RADIO ISSUE HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY AFTER I PURCHASED THE TRUCK...I AM SO SICK OF THIS

THE TRUCK HAS A LACK OF ACCELERATION. WHEN YOU PRESS DOWN THE THROTTLE IT TAKES 5 SECONDS OR MORE FOR IT TO RESPOND CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. SO MUCH THAT YOU CANNOT CROSS TRAFFIC AND OR ACCELERATE UP THE HILL WHERE IT DECLINES IN SPEED. I LIVE IN THE NORTHWEST IN COLDER CLIMATES WAS SNOW AND I LOSE ACCELERATION AND TRACTION WHEN GOING UP HILLS. I HAVE BEEN IN NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 * AND CHRYSLER SAYS IT OPERATES ON DESIGN BECAUSE IT IS NOT THROWING ANY CODES FOR THEM TO READ. I WANT TO KNOW WHERE A 5 SECOND DELAY IN ACCELERATION IS SAFE? I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE OCTOBER 31ST 2017 1ST COMPLAINT AND TIME TO THE DEALERSHIP WAS IN DECEMBER AND THAT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 6500 MILES ON IT.

I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL GUAGE AND THE FUEL SYSTEM LIGHTS ON THE TRUCK. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY ARE SAYING THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER. THE FUEL GUAGE IS SHOWING NO FUEL IN THE CAR AND I AM CONCERNED THE CAR COULD CUT OFF AND I COULD LOSE CONTROL OF IT. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE. I AM CONCERNED FOR MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO HELP ME GET INTO THE DEALER SOONER FOR REPAIRS. THEY WANT ME TO WAIT 17 DAYS TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM
