I have a bad ABS Module. Due to this, I dont not have ABS, traction control, or cruise control. I have been trying to get one for years, since roughly 2021... Again, I do not have ABS or tractions control, which are federally mandated to have. I have been told that the chips on this module is bad and that nothing that can be done. This is just wrong, and is a major safety concern on the road that I would hold the dealer liable for. Safety is a major concern here if I have to brake abruptly, or it is raining without traction control I fear for myself and others lives are at risk ... There were no warning, the light indicators just went off and started flashing... I feel this needs to be fixed asap, and I just recently learned that I could reach out here in hopes to find a resolution. If it cant be fixed, then I believe the dealer should have to buy the vehicle back as they are federally mandated to provide ABS and traction control on vehicles. Thank you for your time.
The drive shaft and both sides of the front half shaft are bad creating damage to front tires. Mechanic said it seems to be a big problem arrising with Rams that shouldn't be going bad.
The tone wheel magnet broke apart and is not a part of recall 66a.my truck is currently in the shop awaiting repairs.
There is a current recall for ram 1500s with faults in their Abs systems, which causes their ECS system to disable itself. My 2017 vehicle has been experiencing this issue since purchase in 2019. I have tried to get ram dealerships to diagnose this issue several times, but each time they say that they cannot recreate the fault. My goal in filling this report is to get my vehicle added to this recall.
Tone wheel failed at 68,300 miles, my vehicle shut off mid driving at 50mph and lost all power to accelerate and power steering and lastly ability to start. Luckily it was later in the day and traffic was light and I was able to coast onto a shoulder. safety recall 66a was only a flash fix which was all that was available on my truck while the known issue of 73a on my truck engine (tone wheel) is what failed and put mine and my sons lives at risk unnecessarily. FCA should be responsible to fix this known issue at their cost as it is an extremely dangerous situation that occurred. I am currently fighting with dealer and FCA to cover this so I only have the scan code and dealer fix for documentation at this point.
Engine light came on with code. Was for 3 way coolant heater valve. Purchased part and replaced a few weeks ago. Engine light is back on . I see online chrysler had a recall for the same issue on the 2017 Dodge ram. I called NTSB to check on recall they said could be internal recall at chrysler. I tried to call Chrysler and I am put on hold. I would like Chrysler to authorize this to be fixed further at a local Chrysler/Dodge dealer in my area. Attached is the prior recall for the same issue that I am having now. There obviously is an issue that company is aware of and had a recall. Now it is happening to newer models an there should be a recall to be fixed free of charge. NTSB shows NO safety recall for this. There are MANY reports in forums on the internet of this exact problem. It is code P2681. "A 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 may have been subject to a recall regarding the "3-way coolant heater control valve" due to a potential issue with the valve's internal circuit board, which could cause it to stick in a position that prevents proper coolant flow to the heater core, impacting windshield defrosting capabilities; this recall is identified as NHTSA Campaign Number 13V-177."
Front gas tank strap pulled through frame while driving down highway, after checking the spot in the frame was severely corroded/rusted. Gas tank was hanging off bottom of truck, with strap hitting against driveshaft. Vehicle was purchased about 3 months ago from dealership with no notation of this issue. No warnings or signs prior to event happening.
It's muffler is totally broken
I was involved in an accident where a car pulled out in front of me causing my truck to T-bone them. I estimate I was traveling at 40 mph or so at the time of impact. My airbags did not deploy during this impact. I have never had an issue with the air bag system on this vehicle, but believe the dealership had performed a recall or flashed some software within the last 3 years pertaining to the airbag. I'm not sure if the computer detected the impact and decided not to deploy the airbags, or if they should have deployed and the system was faulty? I am a larger man and am glad the seatbelt restrained me, but am afraid someone with smaller stature, or unable to brace themselves before impact would not have faired as well. As it is, I am on day 4 of neck, back and whole body aches and whiplash which has caused a constant unbearable headache with light and sound sensitivity in the harsh summer that probably could have been lessened had the airbag stopped me?
NHTSA 19V-757 recall was performed on 06/09/2020. Diesel EGR Cooler started leaking, again. I have a filing that dealer is still using defective part.
my turn signal doesn’t turn off when making a left turn 90% and when making a right 50%
Vehicle was brought in several times for loose headlights. Each time fastners were replaced. By dealership. Larry Miller boise, ID. Called ram cares they stated nothing was reported to them nor were there any recall. This is a major safety issue and on forums many people state they cannot pass state inspection because the headlights are falling out.
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COME ON FOR NO REASON. WITH MESSAGE OF SERVCICE ABS SYSTEM AND SERVICE TRAILER BRAKING SYSTEM. ALSO LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT- (ETC CONTROL) COMES ON WONT LET YOUR TRUCK ACCELORATE OR SHIFT. YOU CAN UNPLUG THE PEDAL OVER NIGHT AND YOU WILL GET A DAY OR TWO BEFORE IT COMES BACK ON. I HAVE REPLACED THREE DIFFERENT $400.00 GAS PEDALS WITHIN TWO YEARS
I can not find specific tow rating for my truck. The sticker on the door only gives payload. “Towing and Payload” in the owner’s manual has no figures - it only lists 3 websites that either redirect or are broken links. Furthermore, creating a Mopar account and linking my VIN says the following - “ Sorry, your towing and payload information is not available. Please check your owner's manual for towing and payload details.” This puts me in an infinite loop and I have no way of knowing what my specific vehicle is safely rated to tow.
Cruise control sometimes don't work, sunroof leaking
Truck has had issues with cranking but not starting consistently since owning. I have had it towed to multiple dealers who say they can not duplicate the issue. I take it home, drive it for a day or two and then it will crank and not start. I have paid multiple diagnosis fees, I have taken video of the issue and the dealer says they can't go by video they have to duplicate it. I have been stranded multiple times and can't rely on the truck starting when I need to drive it. The fuel pump has had a recall for a year now and dealer says they don't have parts to fix it. I am at a loss, there have been no warning light consistently, sometimes the engine light comes on when this happens and sometimes it does not. Dealer can't fix the fuel pump issue and I can't drive the truck without fear of being stranded and towed to dealer for them to say the same thing every time.
Repeated alert to service electronic braking system. Had code read it said right front wheel erratic response from wheel speed sensor. Had sensor changed no change to error code, now the traction control light and passenger seat airbag light has come on. This is a 2017 ram tradesmen with approximately 70k mileage
My family has been exhibiting symptoms of asthma for several years. Recently, while cleaning out my truck I came across a massive mold growth under the backseat of my Ram 1500 which i believe has been the cause of these health issues all along. I've included multiple photos showing the extent of the growth. It appears that water has been running down the rear truck pillars and soaking the interior carpeting/fabric under/behind the rear seat. There are numerous well documented examples of water leak issues in Ram trucks equipped with a sunroof and third brake lights which I believe to be the cause of the mold resulting in my family's asthma related issues. I have previously taken my truck into the dealer for water leak concerns (I had noticed wetness on the front window pillars after a heavy rain). It was recommended at that time that I check/blow out the sunroof drains and not to park the truck on any incline (this is ridiculous). I blew air through the drains (they were perfectly clear with no blockage). I didn't notice further wetness on the front pillars so I didn't pursue the issue again until now. The nature of these water leaks makes them very difficult to detect and poses a serious health risk as the extensive mold growth would not normally be noticeable. Ram should be required to recall trucks with these issues to fix the leaks and provide adequate water management (e.g. properly designed drip tray with water drainage outside of the cabin) in case of future leaks to prevent this safety issue.
I was filling antifreeze up every couple days then about 2 weeks later I was driving it just shut down, now won't start brought it to a garage said the engine locked up I see there's a recall, but it says not on this one, and it won't start the truck only has 64,000 miles on it.
During the rainstorms here in sacramento California water was coming inside the truck. At the dealer it was diagnosed with the 3rd brake light and flapper vents needed replacement that was the cause of water leaks. water was entering on the back cabin and baseboards were flooded. It’s a safety hazard because mold started forming real bad. We didn’t catch it right away.
1) Driver's side front door seal does not seal. This allows water to run down the door trim and into the dashboard. 2) Rear sliding window allows water to enter the cab. Sometimes this window sticks and will not open/close. I have reported these issues to my local dealer. They checked the issues, but deny the problems.
Recurring issue with warped manifolds that cause broken exhaust bolts.
2017 Ram Quad cab truck leaking water into cabin ? 3 rd rear brake light gasket replaced and still finding water on front windshield and dash and also under back fold up seat storage compartments filled with water ??? There are numerous complaints re: Ram trucks of different years experiencing same problems why is this not a issue for a recall when this will rot out floor n cause mold on interior carpets and headliners ? My truck has 12,169 miles on it and I feel like it is worthless !!! I didn’t buy a fish tank I purchased a very expensive truck that Ram knows has this problem many many times ?
Driver side window rattles during the cold weather months. Dealer reviewed the issue multiple times and can not resolve.
The fuel sensor has failed which causes us not to know how much gas is in the vehicle. The vehicle only has 30,800 miles on it. There is another issue that we are currently getting checked. The vehicle would not start even with a jump. After leaving it on trickle charge we got to to start but the traction control light came on the service shifter light came, and it said there were no pressure in the tires. We parked the vehicle and had someone come pick us up due to us not feeling safe because it was shifting weird. We had to have it towed to a dealer and they are currently diagnosing it.
When it rains and blows sideways the right passenger floor and door get filled with water. It seems to be coming out of the passenger grab bar. I do not know where it is originating from but it makes my car smell like mold if I am out of town and it rains.
MY 2017 DODGE RAM IS HAVING STARTING PROBLEMS IN THE MORNING ONLY. IT TAKES ABOUT 15 TO 20 MINUTES TO START. DEALER ENDED UP KEEPING VEHICLE ANOTHER DAY TO INSPECT MISFIRE/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ISSUE. ACCORDING TO CHAPMAN LAS VEGAS THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE REASON FOR THE MISFIRE/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND HAD ME PICK UP THE VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY. EVER SINCE THAT INCIDENT THE VEHICLE HAS BECOME UNSTABLE AND CONSTANTLY SHAKES. I WAS ADVISE BY CHAPMAN LAS VEGAS TO "CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON" AS THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM FOR THE CONTINUED SHAKING. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE CONTINUING TO DRIVE A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. I'M NOW STARTING TO FEEL AND HEAR RATTLING SOUNDS WHILE MAKING TURNS. HE CONFIRMED THAT IN FACT IT WAS SHAKING. HE ADVISED THAT HE THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE AN ISSUE WITH THE TIRES. I IMMEDIATELY (1 HOUR LATER) WENT AND HAD THE TIRE TREAD CHECKED, TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED. RANDOMLY MY TRUCK WENT INTO A "LIMP MODE" AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS DRIVING DOWN UNIVERSITY DRIVE IN HUNTSVILLE, AL AT ROUGHLY 45MPH ACCELERATING UP A SMALL INCLINE. THE 'LIMP MODE' IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND RESTRICTS THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR DRIVE AT A NORMAL PACE. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY OR PULLING OUT (WHAT WOULD NORMALLY BE SAFE) INTO TRAFFIC AND MY ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WAS EFFECTED IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS. I TAKE MY 13-WEEK OLD DAUGHTER TO AND FROM DAYCARE IN THIS TRUCK AND IT HAS BECOME UNSAFE. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY ORIGINALLY NOTATED THAT IT WAS JUST A SOFTWARE UPDATE. I LATE GET A CALL THAT THE EGR COOLER HAD GONE OUT, BUT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THEY HAD 6 OTHER ECODIESEL VEHICLES IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE IN THE LAST WEEK. I CALLED THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY HAD ONE IN THE SHOP IN FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I THEN STARTED DOING RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE EGR COOLER IS A HUGE ISSUE FOR THESE TRUCKS AND FCA REFUSES TO ADDRESS IT. I CALLED THE FCA AND THEY EVENTUALLY AGREED TO REPLACE THE TRUCK ON 'GOOD WILL' AFTER I PAID A DEDUCTIBLE. FCA NEEDS TO PUT A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THE EGR ISSUES. IT'S ABOUT THE SCARIEST THING HAVING YOUR VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AT 60 TO 70 MILES AN HOUR QUITE OFTEN. I'VE TALK TO OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CONDITION. IT'S OVER THE THREE YEARS HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. AND THEY DO KNOW THAT IT IS AN ISSUE BECAUSE THEY HAVE AN UPDATE FOR SOME OF THE ISSUES SO THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ALLOWING PEOPLE TO DIE OUT THERE.

DRIVING UNDER CRUISE CONTROL 65MPH (THE SPEED LIMIT) MY SPEED DROPPED, I ACCELERATED BUT TRUCK KEPT SLOWING,I SAW WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD AND BEHIND THE TRUCK, I SAW A WARNING ON DASH TO SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE SENSOR, THEN LIGHTS ON DASH FLASHED, I FOUND A SPOT ON SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PULLED OVER, THE ENGINE REVVED AND I HEARD VALVES CLATTER WORSE THAN I EVER HAVE,THEN THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON, I STOPPED, PULLED THE HOOD AND SAW FLAMES AT THE FIREWALL AND TOP OF THE ENGINE COVER, THERE MAY HAVE BEEN FLAMES IN OTHER AREAS BUT I SHUT THE HOOD QUICKLY AND STARTED GETTING THINGS OUT OF THE TRUCK AWAY FROM THE FLAMES, CALLED 911 AND IT FULLY ENGULFED THE CAB IN MINUTES. THE FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED WITHIN A FEW MINUTES AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. TRUCK WAS A TOTAL LOSS EXCEPT THE BED.

IT IS AT SETH WADLEYS IN PAULS VALLEY, OK AS I TYPE THIS AWAITING IF MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL PAY FOR THIS! WAS TOLD THIS WAS IS A ISSUE WITH THE ECO DIESELS AND A RECALL WAS JUST SENT OUT FOR MODELS UP TO '16. LEAVING MY '17 WITH THE SAME ISSUE OUT!

LIFTED UP AND IT RELEASED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND AGAIN VEHICLE STARTED BACKING UP INTO THE WATER. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY JUMP IN THE TRUCK AND HIT THE BRAKES JUST IN TIME AS IT HIT THE WATER. I HAVE REVIEWED THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS TO BE FOCUSED ON 2013 - 2016 MODEL YEARS. HOWEVER, THIS IS A BRAND NEW 2017. I CAN ATTEST THAT THE KNOB WAS 100% IN THE PARK POSITION WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND MY FATHER AND SON WITNESSED THIS EVENT. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TOMORROW AT DEALERSHIP BUT SERVICE MANAGER WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUES OR POTENTIAL FIX. I AM GUESSING WE COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON THE BOAT RAMP IN THE FUTURE.
