Steering rack and pinion locked up while driving, delayed inputs, unsafe at high speed. Service power steering light came on, disappeared shortly after with steering inputs still jumpy and hard to control.
I was driving down the road and lost all control in the steering wheel. No power steering at all. A steering wheel with exclamation point light flashing on dash. Dealership quoting $4100 for this repair. I checked to see if there is any recalls and none for mine but many for models 2019 and above. It states "some" 2018 models. I would like to see if my repair qualifys for this recall. A costly repair like this on a 6 year old vehicle is financially straining and based on my research this is a common problem and seems to be a manufacturer defect. Safety concern- complete loss of steering while operating on roadway.
I was driving my 2018 ram at approx 35 mph going into a turn my power steering went out and I almost went off the road the service power steering light came on.
Was driving vehicle, power steering abruptly stopped working, pulled over vehicle to side of road, Turned off vehicle for two minutes, turned vehicle back on, power steering warning notification was now activated.... Unknown if it is still able to be inspected, calling shop tomorrow to verify.... Issue was confirmed by Independent Service Center.... Piece was inspected by Warranty Representative.... There were no warning, messages, or symptoms prior to failure. Issue happened abruptly....
Power steering turn off for 2 seconds if I hit a bump or in the middle of a turn. It will then sometimes turn right back on or just not turn back on. Recalls are on many rams for this issue but not on my truck specifically even though its the same issue other rams are having in the recall list
Yes, the vehicle is inspection. If you're going around a curve at 55 miles an hour all of a sudden the electric power steering will come back on and jerk. Probably not explaining it well but extremely dangerous in my opinion and others. It is intermittent. The dealers say there is no recall, but the Internet says there is so I don't know who to believe. It has not been inspected. No there were no warnings just work sometimes and doesn't work sometimes and it's worse than the old days with no power steering. You can hardly turn the wheel when it's not working.
While traveling the EPS shut off while at a high rate of speed and jerked the steering wheel out of my hands
Electronic power steering is out car can not be driven safely. There was a recall of 2013-2019 dodge ram 1500 for the same peoblem
Request for investigation and recall of 2018 Dodge Ram Tradesman vehicles due to exhaust manifold defects, Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning causing driver impairment, indirect impact on steering system functionality, and documented cases of accidents. I became disoriented, severe headache, drowsy, confused, steering wheel vibrated, pulled over got out of vehicle set on side of road until feeling better. The manifold bolt broke leaking co2 into canon. I had no ideal and could have passed out causing death and potentially death to others. Was on highway doing 65mph. This is a common documented issue and must be addressed with Dodge ram trucks. Makes no since with all the evidence it has not been corrected already.
While driving and turning the steering wheel totally locks up momentarily. At this point there is no control of steering. The first time it happened I just missed a parked car when turning a corner. When I took it to the dealer the mechanic almost ran into a building driving it into the shop.
on or about 7/29/2025 while driving at approx 45 mph (2018 Dodge Ram Rebel) - multiple dash warning lights came on. Parked at safe location. Vehicle would not start and again multiple dash lights came on, steering wheel tight. Had vehicle towed to Reedman Dodge Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Service Rep said vehicles needs replaced drive train and other electrical work costing $5,000.00. Vehicle has less than 100,000 miles (original owner) serviced regularly. Reedman Dodge said no recalls for this but is aware of multiple complaints and "class action" lawsuit on this.
Subject: Ongoing Power Steering Malfunction – Safety Concern I am writing to report a recurring and now potentially permanent issue with the power steering system in my vehicle. The problem began approximately 2 to 2.5 years ago. Initially, it was intermittent — the power steering would occasionally fail at low speeds, then resume normal operation. During these incidents, the dashboard would display a warning message: “Service Power Steering.” Over time, the issue has become more frequent, and in some cases, the failure occurs immediately upon startup, before the vehicle has even been driven. I first brought the vehicle to a local repair shop, where I was advised that the power steering unit might need to be replaced. They also mentioned that the problem could be related to a known defect involving contaminated components. However, after checking the serial number, I confirmed that my vehicle is not included in the current recall for this make and model. Next, I took the vehicle to a Ram Chrysler dealership. They were unable to replicate the issue during their inspection and advised me to bring the vehicle back on a tow truck if the problem occurred again. Since then, the issue has returned multiple times. I was previously able to temporarily clear the fault by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery terminals, but that method is no longer effective. The failure now appears to be persistent and ongoing. This is a serious safety concern. A sudden loss of power steering — whether at startup, low speeds, or while driving — poses a significant risk to both myself and others on the road. I plan to return to the dealership for further diagnostics, but I believe this issue deserves broader investigation and may warrant an expansion of the current recall. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the power steering module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Mileage: 80,000
Steering Gear Rack - Steering control rapidly diminished over a short amount of time. Initially was okay but steering began to intermittently stick and wouldn’t self-center. Issue became nearly full-time within a month. Got to the point that it required a ‘tug’ to re-center. Took to a shop to additionally find that the boot clamps had broke themselves loose, causing the boots to separate and freely slide around. Driver seat airbag - service airbag system (?) warning on dash. Loose/bad connector in center console according to a mechanic leading to potential airbag deployment failure. Both of these issues are reportedly exceedingly common among RAMs, with steering gear racks extending as far back as 2013, and the airbag situation commonly effecting at least the ‘18 models. Additionally, Rear axle (passenger-side) - Shop discovered at the same time a seal had failed causing axle lubricant to spray onto hub causing extreme risk to breaking system due to the spray. Potentially lead to corrosion of caliper and caused advanced rusting resulting in wheel not spinning freely/easily. Driver side works as should. Warranty refused coverage of steering gear rack due to ‘improper installation’, as they claim, due to boots having separated from their respective mount points and loose clamps. Dates and mileage are rough estimates at time of on-set.
Steering is going in and out, mechanic thinks it's our module that should be part of this major recall.
While driving through a hard rain and some standing water (which was totally unavoidable)one afternoon, I began having Electric power steering problems. It stared off with grinding noises for a couple days and on the day i took it to be checked is when I loss all power steering with EPS warning light engaged. After searching for the part continuously, through manufacturers and auto parts dealers, I was told countless times that it was on national back order. So, weeks passed with no luck and finally found one from a used auto parts which cost me 1k plus labor. About 2 months later, almost same scenario all over again. Loss power steering while driving. Now im back in the same situation again but this time different mechanic has one on order for me but a new steering rack which is now costing me $3000 for parts labor programing and wheel alignment which is needed after replacing rack. Now the insurance adjuster is telling me that from his research this is a huge ongoing problem with RAM trucks. Since 2018 when I got my truck i haven't had any issues until now twice within two months with this EPS rack.Ram needs this fixed immediately. It is a major safety hazard, inconvenience, and a big financial burden that insurance won't cover
So my power steering is going in and out while I’m driving, making it very hard to steer and keep control of the vehicle. I’m reporting this issue. Because I feel like it’s a safety problem.
The steering gear failed making steering inconsistent and very difficult as well as dangerous. The issue is not covered under the extended warranty, so FCA gave me a quote of $4100 to fix the issue.
On Arpril 4 2025, after dropping off my kids at daycare I was turning left at a 6 lane intersection and the power steering completely failed while turning. This rendered the truck inoperable and nearly caused a collision and stopped right before ending in a ditch. I turned the truck off and then restarted and the power steering started to operate again. I took the truck to the shop and in route the power steering went out again. I was told at the shop and the dealership this is a known concern, but due to my VIN number it does not fall under the recall that has been issued over the power steering failures. I was never notified of this issue prior to 4/4/2025 .
Power steering
The abs keeps randomly disabling and then coming back on. When this happens, the cruise control is canceled which causes a sudden change in speed unexpectedly. Also, the 4x4 gets disabled. I believe the issue is this: hydraulic control unit can malfunction, impacting ABS, electronic stability control, and traction control performance software issue in the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module that can disable the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.
Electric Power steering failure
I was driving in a curve when the power steering went out and it took everything I had to keep from have a serious accident with my young grand daughter in the car. It happened immediately without any warning. If I was going much faster it would have been catastrophic Now the steering only works sporadically. Very dangerous and as it turns extremely expensive to repair. It sounds like this might be a very common problem but they are not offering a recall, which doesn't seem right
Power steering intermittently stops working while driving.
While driving the power steering stopped working causing the vehicle to become very difficult to steer. Fortunately this happened while traveling in a straight line and I was able to maintain control of the vehicle, but if it had happened in a curve, or leading into a corner, it would have been difficult to maintain lane control. After letting the vehicle sit for 8 hours, I was able to start the vehicle and drive it a short distance before the fault reoccurred. The vehicle sat for two days and after a few minutes of driving the power steering went out again. All fuses on the power connections test as properly functioning. There is a recall covering RAM 1500 trucks from 2013 - 2019 for this exact problem definition, but multiple RAM dealerships that I have contacted state my vehicle does not fall under the recall (per VIN). The NHTSA needs to investigate this complaint and hold RAM accountable to fix the known issue on all RAM trucks. It is not a matter of if, but a matter of when. Loss of power steering can lead to a serious accident. My wife or daughter would not have been able to turn the vehicle had this occurred while they were operating a vehicle in a turn.
Electric power steering rack and pinion failed during Hurricane Helene leaving my wife, [XXX] , my mother-in-law, and myself stranded on the side of the road. Thankfully it failed while we were stopped waiting to cross a flooded bridge rather than while driving down the road. Truck was towed after sitting for 2 weeks. Rack and pinion was disassembled and inner belt that connects the electric motor to the steering gear was found to be destroyed. Research shows that electric power steering issues are not uncommon on Ram 1500 trucks manufactured since 2013. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Electronic rack and pinion failed with 128,922 miles. From what I have read online that is too low of mileage for electrical rack failure.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated when he first started the vehicle he observed that a red steering wheel with an exclamation point was flashing on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that when he had shifted the vehicle into drive (D) and was turning the steering wheel to drive onto a street onto the street the steering wheel was locked. The contact turned the vehicle off and on several times and was able to regain power steering functionality. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but was now an ongoing failure. The red steering wheel warning was no longer flashing as was constantly illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the power steering gear and a printed circuit card needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had researched on line and related the failure to manufacturer recall number: VB9 - Electric Power Steering Gear (Steering) The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,825.

While driving down the highway I lost my power stearing. The power stearing keep going in and out from 10 mph to 50 all speeds.
On 07/11/2024 while driving my 2018 RAM Ecodiesel at highway speeds, a warning light came on that said "Service Power Steering" and my electronic power steering (EPS) completely stopped working. This caused an extremely unsafe situation as I was traveling at roughly 65mph in moderate traffic and had to perform an evasive maneuver to keep from colliding with the vehicle next to me and pull my vehicle to the side of the road. I have an appointment with a local RAM dealer today 07/15/2024. Vehicle available for inspection upon request.
Sudden and complete loss of the electric power steering system. As I was entering a corner the steering wheel felt like it was almost locked, Incredibly hard to steer and barely managed to stay on the road. Had I been going any faster I could have been seriously injured or crashed into other drivers. Unable to fix vehicle as well, the steering rack is unservicable and on national backorder.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), he observed a loud noise emanating from the engine compartment. Additionally, the steering wheel failed to move as needed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,000.

In June of 2023, I was driving home and the vehicle became unresponsive, but still powered on. I was able to steer it partially to the side of the road. The gas pedal was unresponsive, all electrical was unresponsive and it also would not turn off. I called my husband, when he arrived about 20 minutes later we were finally able to turn off the truck, but electrical was still unresponsive so the windows would not roll up. I had just gotten off the freeway, about a mile, and was lucky to be in a residential area or I would have been unable to drive on the freeway. This is a major safely issue and I also had my 9 year old daughter in the truck with me. No warning messages or any symptoms prior to the problem/failure. We called and had it towed to our local trusted mechanic, Gray's Tire and Auto. It took about a month for Gray's to figure out the problem. They were also in conversations with the local RAM Dealer who did not know how to fix the problem. It ended up being recall [XXX] that was the issue. The rack and pinion steering system has to be replaced on this 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 truck for the second time with less than 80,000 miles on the truck. The steering is very loose and it is hard to keep the truck from weaving while traveling down the highway which makes it very unsafe to drive at high speeds. There are numerous complaints about this issue on these trucks, and there is a recall on other heavy duty Dodge trucks but not this model but there should be a recall. This part will cost over $3,000 to replace, that's over $6,000 dollars for this truck in less that 80,000 miles and 6 years old. This is totally unacceptable for a truck this costly. Dodge Must do something to resolve this issue once and for all. Thank you for your attention to this potentially deadly issue, it will be just a matter of time before numerous accidents will happen because it is unaffordable to fix this problem every 3 years. The part is warrantied for only 2 years but the failure starts happening after that time frame and continues to get worse. My family members wont even drive this truck because of it being so unstable on the road. Please seriously consider this matter as a priority as there are so many of these trucks on the road. Something has to be done very soon. Thank you.
Truck has zero warning lights, zero visible issues, nothing is "wrong" with the truck. However, the truck runs horribly. It is terrifying to drive. Anything over 35mph is scary. It drives like the back wheels are about to come out from under it. The truck violently shakes. Sometimes it accelerates, sometimes not, randomly downshift, random upshifts, random power loss, randomly the breaks stop working. The radio has became such a problem that not only can I not use the radio, i cant use the navigation, back up camera, the apps, climate control, settings, nothing in the control unit. Cant even update it because it wont stay on one screen long enough, nothing. The unit bounces around from one tab to another. Its confusing the trucks computer system and has reset itself while on a lift getting serviced. The transmission is running hot, the cooling fans don't know if they should be on or off because the radio unit changes all the controls so quickly. The volts on the dash are always at or about 3/4 of the way up and continuously bounce because of the system always changing. I have 52 transmission codes because the system is so confused but no one will touch it because its an 8 speed and not serviceable. And all the components are working.... they just do not work together. There has been several recalls for this make and model but all for the diesel, I believe it goes further then just that.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle lost power functionality and was difficult to steer. The contact stated that the failure almost caused two accidents. The contact's husband was able to avoid the accidents and drove the vehicle to a safe location and parked the vehicle. The contact's husband turned the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was informed that the system had reset itself and the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the vehicle was scheduled for another diagnostic appointment in several days. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to have another diagnostic test performed. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

Power steering was intermittently working for a period of time. One day while driving the power steering failed entirely. Was able to get the vehicle to a RAM dealership where it was confirmed that the entire electric power steering rack had failed and needs to be replaced. Parts are on back order with no anticipated delivery date. Part order was placed a month ago and still no updates.
1. Electronic power steering rack and pinnion and the control module on the rack for power steering. Yes vehicle is available for inspection. 2. While driving 100km (62miles)/hr on a highway lost all steering control and was forced to hit the ditch to avoid a roadway curve and oncoming traffic. Brakes functioned but steering did not. Putting my families lives and others at risk of a vehicle collision. No injuries were sustained. 3. Steering control issues has been confirmed by a dealership and mechanic shop. 4. Unknown if it has been inspected by authorities generically. My vehicle has not been inspected other than by dodge and an independent service provider. 5. After power steering failed, check engine dash light has come on, not allowing command start or other functions to be used. Dash does not have any messages and had to have code read by dealership to find steering control failure. Was advised that dodge rams up to 2017 have had the exact same recall for ower steering failures. 2018s should be investigated for the power steering failures as well.
Cam Shaft (RECALL) sensor failure / tone wheel per the dealership. Truck lost all power descending off a mountain / steep grade. Lost steering, brakes, engine power. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership. Truck will not start, even have installing new parts. It was towed in to the dealer on 12/2/23. I am not able to get a solid answer on what needs to be done. Communication has been very poor on the entire situation.
My power steering failed Yes available for inspection Power steering would lock up driving down the road which put my life and everybody around me in danger. The warning light didn’t come on until steering completely failed
On Sunday, Oct 1, 2023, I proceeded out of my driveway, when the warning lights came on and the steering failed, stranding me on the busy roadway. I was able to back onto my property again and fortunately the incident didn't result in a collision. The truck is at the dealership as I write this and I informed them that I want them to save all of the defective parts for me. The dealership's diagnosis is that the rack and pinion steering has failed at approx. 61,200 miles. The components have not been inspected, but will be available after the repair, as stated above.
While driving down the road the service power steering and service ABS notifications appeared on the instrument cluster and the power steering stopped working. It felt as though the wheels turn when this happened and the steering wheel wouldn’t move. This caused a loss of control and the vehicle left the road coming to rest in the ditch. This resulted in severe damage to the front suspension, axles, steering linkage, and the bottom of the engine. The vehicle was not drivable and had to be towed.
Three times since January 2023, the steering has locked down while driving. The driver has had no control over steering momentarily. The latest incident caused the vehicle to strike a concrete pillar surrounding a stop sign in a parking lot.
The power steering stops intermittently with no warning lights. It becomes very hard to steer while driving.
Truck has a loss of power steering. No whining noise associated. This problem Comes and goes, however is now present at most times.
While driving down the road and needing to turn onto side roads or just following curves in the road, power steering has been becoming increasingly difficult requiring full strength to turn the vehicle. This is happening intermittently and happens while in mid turn. Have also noticed that when I’m 4WD, steering is altogether difficult requiring full body strength.
steering is very tight and sometimes you cann't turn the vehicle..
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel inadvertently pulled to the left and then the right, causing the contact to momentarily lose control of the vehicle. Upon slowing down, the contact stated that the steering wheel was tight and maneuvering the vehicle was extremely difficult. The EPS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the electric power steering however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 115,000.
Mileage: 115,000
Electric Power Steering failure with no cause. Power steering failed while driving on the highway.
While driving the steering will lock up and not move at all at random times. I decided not to drive it anymore because I have a young daughter and was stuck at a left turning light for almost 20 minutes unable to move because my wheel wouldnt turn. Luckily it was at night and there was little traffic. I was told it is the rack and pinion that needs replaced. Its been a Recall for many RAM pickups from 2002-2020 but my vin # doesnt show any Recall but thats a Big coincidence to me.
Electric Power Steering (EPS) failure. If this had happened while driving there would have been no way to control truck. The dash read "Power Steering Unavailable Service Required". Dealer tested truck and said EPS unit would need replaced at a cost of $2,345 for just the part and would be at least 45 before they could get the part. This truck only has 55k miles on it.
2018 RAM 1500 eco diesel with LESS THAN 26,000 miles on it. My husband and I had a harrowing drive a couple weeks ago bc the power steering unit started to intermittingly cut out/fail (think hair pin turn on country roads at 55, you are CRANKING on the wheel bc power steering cut out, then halfway through the turn it decides to come back and now you are OVER steering). Again, we have less than 26k on this truck ((and it is BABIED)) so clearly this is a faulty part. We got it fixed (I have receipts), but per RAM the truck is "too old" thus "out of warranty" with no current recalls and thus my request I submitted to RAM to reimburse us for the faulty part was denied.
Intermittent loss of power steering. Steering fights driver input when turning in either direction, when straightening out from a turn & gradual road curves. Inspected by competent mechanic. EPS rack & pinion failing at 22,300 miles on vehicle. EPS serial # not affected by FCA recall
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the power steering light suddenly illuminated and the message "Service Power Steering" was displayed. The contact was unable to turn the steering wheel in either direction. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer for service. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not yet notified. The failure mileage was 45,000.
Mileage: 45,000
Went to turn at a gas station and steering wouldn’t work steering faulty light came on and said to have power steering looked at
1. Electric Power Steering (EPS) failure causes sporadic or no power steering. 2. I was driving when the steering was sporadic causing oversteering and then when it totally went out the vehicle the vehicle was very hard to steer. 3. Dealer has the truck now for diagnosis. This is a known component manufactures defect. 4. About 3 weeks before steering went out there was a clicking noise when turning. I contacted the dealer and scheduled an appointment. I spoke to a technician, at that time, and was told the noise was normal and no appointment was necessary. Appointment was subsequently canceled, 3 weeks later the failure occurred. Many of the blogs online show this issue to be a safety problem. Manufactures defect. Please address this issue it is a safety issue to everyone who has EPS.
Vehicle engine shuts off while driving. Once, sitting at a stop light. Once traveling at 45mph on a country road and once accelerating up a hill at 20mph. Dash says "place vehicle in park and turn key to start" (paraphrased). The vehicle goes from running to not running with no warning, causing loss of power steering, brakes, etc. Took vehicle to certified RAM service center who said 'there are no codes and we cannot reproduce the issue, so no diagnosis possible' (paraphrased). No error codes, no warning lamps. If this happens in highway traffic with my 16 year old son driving, it could cause a fatal crash.
STARTED OFF BY HAVING A TOUGH SPOT ONCE IN A WHILE TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL. NOW ITS TOTAL FAILURE ON AND OFF. NOT CONSISTENT, I CAN BE GOING 20 ,PH AND IT WORKS GOOD, THEN MY STEERING JUST FAILS. AT 60 MPH IT WORKS GREAT THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FAILS. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAVE ALMOST LOST CONTROL 3 TIMES. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO EVEN START TO LOOK FOR THE PROBLEM. MADE TRAVELING OVER THE HOLIDAYS VERY DANGEROUS. IHAVE READ WHERE THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER 2018 RAM REBEL TRUCKS AS WELL AS OVER 1500 2019 RAM TRUCKS AS WELL.
Mileage: 72,000
STARTED HAVING TROUBLE IN THE STEERING. TIGHTENING UP AND HARD TO STEER. SOME THING WAS WRONG WITH THE STEERING SHAFT. AND WITH THIS BAD IT CAUSED THE RACK AND PINION TO GO BAD. COULDN'T GET IT PROGRAMMED AFTER THE SHAFT WAS FIXED BECAUSE OF THE RACK AND PINION. SO ITS IN THE SHOP NOW AND WILL BE IN THERE FOR OVER 2 WEEKS WAITING ON THE RACK AND PINION.I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK JUST OVER A YEAR AND I'M HAVING TO PUT OVER 3000.00 IN IT. IT WAS HARD TO STEER GOING AROUND A CORNER. THE WHEEL WOULD STICK AND I WOULD HAVE TO TURN IT BACK. TRYING TO BACK UP THE WHEEL WAS HARD TO TURN. *TR

POWER STEERING FAILURE. POWER STEERING LOCKS UP INTERMITTENTLY, MORE SO WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE COMES UP IN DASH AND THEN DISAPPEARS AFTER A COUPLE SECONDS. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED BOTH WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION MAKING A LEFT TURN IN AN INTERSECTION ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION AND ALSO WHEN PARKED AND ATTEMPTING TO STEER LEFT ATTEMPTING TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
Mileage: 12,550
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35-45 MPH WAS ATTEMPTING TO MOVE INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND I FELT MY STEERING WHEEL LOCK UP. IT WOULDN'T LET ME TURN MY WHEEL. SO THEN AS I ATTEMPTED TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES SO I DID T HIT A TREE THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I SMASHED INTO THE TREE AND THE. I TO THE WOODS. I WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL 911. THE HOLE FRONT OF THE TRUCK IS DESTROYED.
