The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after stopping at a red traffic light, the vehicle hesitated and failed to accelerate as intended while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that another driver was behind and assisted the contact, and the contact noticed that the parking brake was unintendedly activated. No warning light was illuminated. Upon further inspection, the contact noticed the transmission had unexpectedly shifted from drive(D) to park(P). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the failure was not identified. The vehicle was also taken to two other local dealers; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired because the VIN was not under recall. Prior to the failure, the contact stated that occasionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would independently shift into lower gears. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

My 2019 RAM 1500 diesel (built 12/12/2019 is included in Recall 23V-411 for tone wheel delamination. My tone wheel has failed (confirmed by technician). Stellantis provides free tone wheel replacement under Recall 73A for 2014 and 2016 models but excludes 2015/2017/2018/2019 models despite having the identical defect from the same supplier. I received only Recall 66A (software) which did not prevent failure. Stellantis now wants me to pay $3,037 to replace the defective part they replace free in other model years. This discriminatory recall remedy is inadequate and unjust.

During normal driving when coming to a stop the vehicle will hard downshift to neutral for no apparent reason. It will also hard shift to 1st like it’s lagging hard from 2nd or deciding if it wants to shift to neutral. It will happen at random times, in the middle of a turn, middle of an intersection. And is a serious concern

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was a whining sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that later, while driving the vehicle, there was a clucking sound coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle lost power to the rear axle. The vehicle was towed to the local mechanic, who examined the vehicle. After removing the rear axle casing, the mechanic discovered metal shavings and bearings inside the rear axle casing. The contact was advised that the rear axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact indicated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V556000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000.

Alternator with etorgue has gone out leaving the truck stranded and no parts are available. I order one on the 23rd of June 2025 it is now September 9th 2025. There is no update and part is still showing back ordered.

Issue started with a "service shifter" warning at just shy of 3,000 miles, in January of 2019, and upon speaking to the dealership, they advised to shut off the truck and restart which cleared the "service shifter" warning. They said it was a glitch and that should remedy the issue. This issue became more frequent later (after manufacturers warranty ran out) It started leaving me stranded, sometimes for hours around 45,000 miles. Later, I suffered a multisystem failure and warnings that the truck was not in park, the shifter would not turn, truck would not start, and multiple other warnings. We were able to replace the battery which we thought had fixed the issue, but two weeks later it has done it again, and this time the battery disconnection for a period of days has not fixed the issue. I still owe two years on this truck and it has been a lemon. I have taken it to two dealerships, neither can fix my issue. I have done countless hours of research to address the issue. I am paying payments and do not have anything to drive. I need help with this issue. I have maintained the vehicle and have only put close to 60,000 miles on the truck. There is no logical reason I should be dealing with this many major issues that even the dealership can not seem to remedy. With such low miles and at only 7 years old, these issues should not be considered "routine maintenance" at the point in the truck's life. I believe this issue needs to be investigated, as I know many RAM owners who are facing the same issues that I am having, with no answers as of yet. I have been watching for recalls or statements from RAM, but nothing yet. Thank you for your time and careful considerations. I look forward to seeing a solution to my issues. Until then, I'll be stranded in Virginia, paying for transportation that can't be fixed.

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle jerked violently and downshifted unintendedly. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the gear shift indicator and speedometer were malfunctioning. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact stated that the failure had recurred while driving at various speeds, and the vehicle stalled on several occasions. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to be restarted after 5-15 minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with loose wires. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while his son was driving 65 MPH, the failure recurred, and the vehicle shut off. The contact's son was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact’s son was unable to remove the ignition key when the vehicle shut off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

Motor Generator Unit failed at 89,000 miles. Three dealerships that I spoke with having waiting lists of customers for this repair. Backlog on part is up to four months. It is evident that this is specifically problematic to the models equipped with the 5.7-liter V8 Hemi MDS VVT eTorque Engine. Federal warranty expires at 80,000/ 8 years. Based upon the number of vehicles effected and specific to eTorque engines, seems like a recall (or reimbursement) is warranted in this case.

The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 60 MPH the messages "Service Air Bag System", "Service Electric Stability Control", "Service Trailer Brake System", "Service Park Brake", "Service Anti-Lock Brake System" and "Service Power Steering" were displayed and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that soon after, the transmission failed to shift into gears as intended, and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact also stated that while driving and making turns the transmission will slip into neutral(N) upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stopped the vehicle, shifted to park(P), shifted back to drive(D) and drove to the residence. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Electric Harness and RF Hub had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dangerous behavior occurs only when the truck is in four-wheel-drive. Two behaviors: One:Low range. Ascending up a steep dirt road without warning truck shifted into neutral and got stuck there. Shifting into reverse drive or park did not take it out of neutral. The steering and brakes worked. The four-wheel-drive, low and four-wheel-drive high indicatorlights were blinking simultaneously. This behavior persisted after turning the truck off and on again. I had to back down a switchback dirt road. Eventually, I thought to disconnect the battery and reconnect it which corrected the behavior and put the truck back to normal. I no longer use this truck in four-wheel-drive low. I am having the truck looked at by a second dealer service department to try to diagnose this problem. 2: the second abnormal, behavior occurs in four-wheel-drive low, first gear heading downhill using the engine compression for braking. The truck will without warning shift into 2 Wheel Dr. high range, and the four-wheel-drive, low and four-wheel-drive high indicator lights blink simultaneously. This behavior is corrected by turning the engine off and then on again.

The contact was informed that the power train control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to several unknown dealers on several occasions due to the persistent failure. The contact stated that on one occasion the vehicle needed to be towed to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. Truck was stopped. Then as I started pressing on the gas pedal, there was a warning sound. The gear selector knob rotated on its own from D to P and the message on the screen said to start / stop the vehicle to put it back in gear D. This put myself and my family at risk of a car accident as we were merging onto an expressway. This happened while the truck was starting to accelerate. This is the second time this happens.

My 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn/Longhorn 3.6L V6 (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced a sudden and catastrophic engine failure without warning while driving. The vehicle shut off unexpectedly on the highway and would not restart. There were no prior dashboard warning lights, low oil pressure indicators, or error messages before the incident. A full diagnostic revealed severe mechanical failure in cylinder 1, including piston-to-valve contact and 40% leak-down with compression at 50 psi. This damage rendered the engine inoperable and required a complete replacement. Prior to the failure: The vehicle was regularly maintained using synthetic oil, following the manufacturer's recommended intervals (between 6,500–10,000 miles). The oil life indicator was followed, and the truck was never low on oil or pressure. A Customer Satisfaction Notification for PCM (Powertrain Control Module) reprogramming was never completed due to the dealer’s system being down on two separate service visits. Despite following proper maintenance and attempting to comply with the manufacturer’s recall-like notice, the engine failure occurred without any warning or indication. The dealership and warranty provider have attempted to deny responsibility, blaming maintenance intervals without proof that it caused the failure. This is a serious safety concern as the engine shut down at highway speed, placing me and others at risk. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this issue and whether PCM logic, a known defect, or improper diagnostics at the dealership contributed to the failure. The vehicle will require that you shift it into park when slowing causing you to have to stop the vehicle place it in park then back into gear. This has happened regularly since about 20,000 miles on the vehicle, most often occurs in warmer weather months and it randomly occurs but at least weekly. This is a known issue among many Ram owners as noted in the online chats and forums. Pulling into traffic can be an issue.

The star connector on the CAN C BUS will start to have communication problems with the all the systems on that star connector approximately after about 15 to 20 min after driving. Systems that were constantly going in and out were the front and rear parking sense, ABS and traction would go out. Service shifter message, caused the transmission to up shift while driving at a constant speed. After getting a check engine light, I hooked up my code reader and had a code for the park sense control module. I proceeded to replace that module and was unable to get the code to go away. Upon further investigation, I found a history code for the CAN C BUS PERFORMANCE code and researched on this topic in the forums with other owners of the same truck and looked for any maintenance for this topic as well. These owners would have the same problem that my truck was having and the dealerships were unable to pin point the malfunction of all these systems. I did find video of an owner that had the same problem as my truck and he was able to pin point the problem down to the star connectors. The star connector would slowly over time while the vehicle was on would slowly take on more power then it was supposed to and overload the star connector. Upon learning about the star connectors, I learned how to replace them and after I replaced the star connectors for the exterior and interior components of the vehicle, everything went back to normal. I do still have the star connectors that were taken out incase I wanted to get them tested for the same issue the other guy found out

While driving the freeway at 70 mph, the truck flashed a message to service shifter. Windshield wipers starting going on their own, all messages popped up on dashboard, and the vehicle started gradually slowing down posing a safety issue. Speedometer was going from 0-50 mph back and forth and steering wheel was hard to maneuver. I was able to get off the freeway and into the frontage safely. However, turning the vehicle was a hassle and even more so when I tried to drive in to a parking lot to get to a safer area since the truck wouldn’t respond to the gas pedal nor would the steering wheel cooperate. If I wanted to turn it left it jerked on its own to the right. Vehicle shut off on its own and wouldn’t power back on after that. Tow truck had to be called and was told this was a cause of rfh by rear window(shortage caused by leak on third brake light) this happened after it being repaired. Truck was in shop for over two weeks. Today I’m being told it is the rack and pinion system causing this shortage and issue. Awaiting repair quote for that

While driving down a curving mountain highway above 70 mph, the gauge cluster displayed “shift to park” or “shift to drive” I don’t recall exactly. The transmission then downshifted dramatically, perhaps into 3rd gear, then the motor shut off.Thankfully, I successfully merged through heavy traffic to the narrow shoulder but the truck would not restart. After over 30 minutes of attempts (fuel tank above half)I called a tow truck. My family climbed up the hill to get a safe distance from the road. It was cold and dark and things could have gone much worse. Ram owners on internet forums have described this exact problem many times and it’s clear that this is a wide spread safety issue. This is the second time the truck had lost power while driving in the same manner. The first time the dealer could not replicate the issue while it was under warranty and returned it to service. No I’m out of warranty, need a new transmission at largely my own expense and there are zero available in the country. The dealer has my truck for an “indefinite” time period.

I purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 in November and have since been unable to pass state inspection due to several issues with the vehicle. I have contacted the dealership three times to request repairs, but they have repeatedly told me there is nothing they can do. I reached out to the Massachusetts Lemon Law, and they advised me to contact a lawyer immediately. The problems preventing my vehicle from passing inspection include excessive play in the bushing of the right front upper control arm, excessive play in the ball joint of the right front lower control arm, issues with both front struts, and excessive wear on the stub shafts of the front differential assembly, necessitating a front axle replacement since a kit is unavailable. Additionally, both front axle shafts need attention, and I require four-wheel spacers to prevent tire rubbing, as well as four fender flares. Within the first 30 days of purchase, I informed the dealership about the truck's tires not passing inspection. They acknowledged the tires were worn but claimed they still passed. When alignment issues arose due to bad ball joints, the dealership insisted the ball joints were up to spec. Unsatisfied, I sought a second opinion from another Dodge dealership, which confirmed the ball joints were faulty and identified additional issues with the front axles, struts, control arms, and front differential assembly. I provided this information to the original dealership, seeking repairs, but was again told there was nothing they could do. I have documented all my communications with the dealership and their responses. At the time of purchase, I received a powertrain warranty through Zurich that covers the front axles and front differential assembly. However, the dealership did not provide an inspection report or certification of the vehicle's condition when I bought it.

The MGU for the hybrid system of the etorque of them truck failed. The bearing inside of it has started to grind and there is very little replacements available to consumers for repair. The dealership, Fernley Ram, located in Fernley Nevada stated that there is only 210 parts available in all of the US. Im reading in different forums that there are thousands of consumers waiting months (4-6 on the high end) for the part to be available. The part failing can cause power loss to vehicle while driving and thankfully it failed when I was arriving home today. Just wanted to bring this up so it can be known and hopefully a remedy can be figured out.

The power train component, specifically the etorque alternator (MGU) has failed and verified by CDJR dealership service department. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The MGU component affects the emissions control of the vehicle and is a generator for a battery cell located in the rear of the cab. The MGU failure could cause damage to the hybrid battery system, electrical failure, and reduction of emissions control. The issue has been replicated by numerous dealerships that I have contacted as the replacement part is on a national back order (dealer representative stated over 5,000). This seems like a substantial problem known by the manufacturer and yet there isn’t a repair/replacement option for numerous consumers. There were no warning lamps alerted during the failure. The failure consists of a “whining” noise located in the engine compartment at the alternator/MGU and significant reduced fuel economy.

I have a 2019 Dodge Ram that slips out of gear and an error message comes up on dash "shift to park and then to desired gear". This is extremely dangerous as it happens in traffic. I have taken truck to dealer two times for four days each. They say that they cannot do anything unless they can recreate the same problem. It does not happen all the time but does happen in traffic. I videoed it when it happened but they say they need to see it. I asked if you see it what would you do and the answer is they do not know. I contacted dodge customer service and got a call but it was useless conversations. I see many other dodge truck owners online with same issue including videos too but dodge customer service seems to have no records of other drivers with same problem. Help. It is dangerous and I cannot not get anything other than a run around about they cannot recreate it. Help Help. First visit was 12/2024 and second visit was 01/2025. My Ram 1500 front drive assembly issue. The initial issue was failure to engage in 4wheel drive. In either 4 wheel low, high or Auto. During replacing the transfer case it became obvious that axle in some way basically became welded to housing so had to replace left axle as well. Do to these problems I now have to replace front differential (part# 68349702AE and right axle (part# 68259567AA) as well because of the failure of transfer case and left axle. My issue is 1st the differential part is not available in my area (Nassau County NY). 2nd is that there is a recall for a faulty gear or bearing in the front drive train that my VIN# is not included in this recall. Could this bearing/gear have caused my issue? 3rd is if the front differential is on such a long back order that is telling me that Stelantis has an issue with the reliability of this part (68349702AE). Why if this is in such demand and numerous problems with them hasn't NHTSA not forced Stalantis to recall these parts. My truck is a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7 Hemi with just 38,677 miles presently today. I have never taken this truck 4 wheeling or on the beach. The only time I have used 4 wheel drive is when the roads are slick due to rain, snow or ice, because of the light rear end. The last time 4 wheel drive was used was last years snow storm. Just don't understand hardly ever used and all this damage, truck was never in a substantial accident. I clipped drivers side back door and small section of bed, minor. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. I'm already into this for $2500 and looking at another $3000. Thank You.

At times the transmission does not shift from 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 gears. Causes the engine RPM to reach red level. Have to pull over turn off vehicle and restart for the transmission to shift again. This is suppose to be a lifetime transmission and not need any maintenance. It seems to be a common problem on many forums for this particular transmission. Or it jumps into gear instead of the smooth shifting that it is suppose to do. Many people seem to be having the same issues.

When i first drive the truck while driving when i am decelerating to come to a stop, the truck will slip out of gear and tell me to put the shifter into park before driving. This has also happened at a yeild sign and while slowing down for a turn. This is very dangerous and someone will be hurt if not addressed. I took to the dealer in Daphne AL Tamaron to get this resolved and a few other things going with the truck the radio a recall on abs system and exhaust leak. witch had nothing to do with this. they were in contact with the auto maker i guess Cylser. they looked at the camshafts and found nothing wrong no does the truck have a codes. I was told to come get my truck because they couldnt find the issue but everything else was fixed. I currently have around 105,000 miles but this has been happening for at least 50k around 30times some almost causing a wreak. i have read that they really havent found an issue besides the wiring harness but not sure this fixed the issue online forms. This will one day cause a fatal accident if not address hopefully not me, or anyone else.

I was turning at a light when my truck gave a message saying “switch to p” and wouldn’t let me accelerate there was no shoulder to pull over so I had to stop in the middle of the road switch to parking and then to drive this is concerning as I research and found out that it has happened to a few other people and RAM is not doing anything about it when the issue is brought to them they treat the problem as a case by case basis claiming they have never heard that problem

Vehicle behaved erratically before repair and still does. It seemed a bit better after the repair but issues are still there. It lurches forward when coming to a stop and accelerates in a delayed manner, starting slow and then jumping forward. The 4 wheel drive issues system errors like overheated and function diminished. At times it just doesn't work. Systems turn themselves on. (axle lock) These issues existed since the vehicle was new with the dealership telling me they didn't know what could cause them.

Hemi 5.7L ticking. Took the truck to another mechanic to assess and the engine is filled with metal shavings from a failed assembly at 50k miles. A power train assembly should get at minimum 100k miles before any issues would arrive. A STAR report has been generated on this very issue. However, we purchased this vehicle used with 91 miles on the odometer as it was listed as the previous owner being the manufacturer itself and was used and moved around from showroom to showroom as a floor model. We have no warranty and now must replace the entire engine due to the metal shavings found throughout the engine. Cost to replace is 10k+ which is horrifying an engine must be replaced at 50K miles due to a known product design flaw causing so many of us to experience the same exact issue around 50k miles. Fiat only replaces those under warranty with the same flawed/defective part only to have the same issue reappear...that to me means the part design is flawed. Both of our mechanics said this is a known defect that many of their customers have experienced. Our check engine light came on prior to a scheduled visit to our mechanic on July 8 as we were hearing a ticking noise. Magically, the morning of the 8th when I first went start the truck to take to our mechanic regarding the light the light was not on any longer. We still attended the appointment to check out the tick. He recommended engine replacement. When I left the mechanics and got 5 miles down the road the check engine light came back on. Since then we took to another mechanic who dismantled the engine somewhat to check the lifter assembly and sure enough there it was, completely disintegrated, hanging on by a thread left of an actual bolt, metal shavings in the oil pan too. He indicated to us that when that small thread left from the bolt finally failed the engine would seize up and we would lose power immediately. Extremely dangerous at highway speeds or driving up and down the mountainous areas.

October 10, 2024, approximately 6:10AM PST. While accelerating on freeway on-ramp to merge into traffic that was also accelerating, the truck shifted the transmission into neutral. Vehicles behind truck had to swerve around my truck, while I stepped on brake pedal in the middle of accelerating traffic to be able to shift truck back into drive to continue onto freeway. This is not the first arbitrary shift into neutral from this truck. About a year and a half ago, it was happening regularly, until I cleaned the throttle body, then the arbitrary shifts into neutral stopped.

This is on national back order because of the high demand for the parts. This is a national recall for similar parts on the same engine. I don't understand why this is not on recall as well.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission failed to shift to the intended gear while depressing the accelerator pedal or the brake pedal. The transfer case warps unproportionary on one side without any type of driver error or reason. There isn't a correct seal which causes water and damage which ultimately damages the cv axel as well . Was checked out by garage and plan on taking to dealer. Temporary fix but needs replaced completely after only 90000 miles.

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while decelerating to come to a stop or to make a turn, the transmission shifted out of gear unexpectedly. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while at a complete stop. A message advising to shift to park(P) and to shift back into gear was displayed on the infotainment system screen display. The dealer replaced the transmission; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where unknown repairs were performed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Central Florida Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (8675 Commodity Cir, Orlando, FL 32819), where the transmission, the gear shift cluster, the fuel vaporizer, and the catalytic converter were replaced. Additionally, an unknown software update was performed; however, the failure persisted. The dealer informed the contact that the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure several times and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

The parksense system on the vehicle becomes defective over time. My vehicle does not have parking assistance but I get a chime and screen message that "parksense unavailable" every minute or two when driving. There is also a "service shifter" warning simultaneously. I've taken it a dealer for repair several times and they're unable to address it. Upon searching forums for this issue I found it's unbelievably common. Ram has been unable to repair this issue for ~a year of it happening.

Hello, I was driving on Highway 99 three days ago and my truck came to an abrupt halt after making some horrible engine noises. I hadn’t been driving my truck because it won’t pass smog due to check engine light on. I had taken it to a dealer in Lodi Dodge Dealer and they Did one recall on the fuel injector pump. I’m still not positive. What happened but I strongly believe after Research that the magnetic strip for cam timing failed. I’m trying to find an independent Agency that looks into things like this as I do not trust the dealer for a couple reasons. Not saying it here. Anyway, if you have any idea how I should move forward after that frightening experience losing all power to my truck, the dash turned red, no oil pressure no anything is what it was saying. I was able to get a tow truck to bring the vehicle to my home where it sits now and it’s been two months since I’ve really had a vehicle. I had to make an emergency run to get two bales of hay for my animals. I paid the registration, but I don’t have the tags because it will not pass smog.

Luckily it started back up but not something anyone should have to deal with. Standard 5.7 Hemi, no E-torque. At this point, no clue what caused the issue.

On Friday August 2nd. 2024 approximately 11am I was driving my 2019 ram 1500 laramie. At about 28 mph my truck lost power steering. Message in my dashboard says Power steering unavailable. The steering was very hard, harder when the engine is not running. I pulled over and waited 10mns and restarted the truck and everything went well. And I drove off it happened again within 10mns or 5mi. Same thing pulled over waited 5mns and restarted the truck and the message is gone and truck drove like normal. It happened 3 times within 15mi of driving. Take it to the dealership and they confirm my steering wheel rack electric module has failed and quoted my $3500 for repair.

The truck with provide warnings "front/rear sensors temporarily disabled" and "service shifter" before starting to shift itself back and forth between 1st and 3rd gear. When it does this it will often stay in whatever gear it is in when accelerating and not shift with no regard for speed.

Vehicle developed the infamous "hemi tick" chronicled in multiple news articles, bulletins & complaints. Defective exhaust manifold design causes it to trap heat, melting the bolts and cracking the manifolds. This leads to loud ticking when engine is started from cold and can eventually lead to engine failure. Had to have both manifolds replaced, along with gaskets.

I live in a population of approximately 26,000+ people. This is wholly unacceptable when there are 5 dealerships who sell Ram vehicles (2 much closer) closer to my location. A major auto manufacturer should not be selling vehicle for which they don't provide reasonable service for in a populated area such as the ORegon coast. Upon acceleration from stop, and even while driving at speeds between 30 & 40 mph, the vehicle shifts from Drive to Neutral and displays "Shift to P..." on the display. This occurs repeatedly. You have to stop the vehicle and shift to Park then back to Drive. But it keeps occurring, over and over. It first occurred when I pulled out into traffic, the vehicle shifted to N and I had absolutely NO EXCELLERATION with oncoming traffic behind me. I immediately put on my hazard lights and steered towards the curb to attempt to get out of the way... traffic behind me was able to slow and avoid collision but this is an extremely dangerous issue.

My [XXX] son was driving his Ram 1500 on a country road and the he started hearing a clunking noise and his tires locked up. Luckily he is experienced in driving bigger vehicles and was able to control the vehicle to not wreck it. We had his vehicle towed to repair shop. Less than a day later the repair shop called to tell us that the vehicles transmission needed to be replaced as well as the rear differential. He said the rear diff issue is what caused the transmission to go out. Ive contacted multiple dealerships in hopes to have this replaced for free of charge since Ram had a recall with this same issue. But since the trucks Vin number isn't under the recall they denied the claim. I feel its unfair of a owner of a vehicle that literally has the same issues as a recall within the same year of the recall but can't get compensation for the repairs. Both repairs ended up totaling over $10,000. This truck only had 69,000 miles. 2019 RAM classic with significant wobble /vibration during highway driving between 40 and 80 at cruising speed. Will do similar shaking during acceleration, but not consistently. We have replaced the rims, all 4 tires (the two rear wheels have been replaced twice), the vehicle has been balanced twice, once high speed and once with all 4 wheels. the tires have been balanced as well. The vehicle has gone to several different repair shops trying to troubleshoot the problem. Documents are available upon request.

I own a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie quad cab 4x2. In two different instances while accelerating from a stop or near stop the transmission dropped completely out of gear. The message "Return shifter to park(P) then shift to desired gear" has come up. On one of those occasions I was pulling out onto a main road. Luckily for me there was no traffic at that moment as I made it into the lane before the transmission dropped out. My truck just rolled 80K miles. This is a major life safety issue and has taken away my confidence in my vehicle.

I just bought my 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel mileage with 47,832 miles. My truck was stuck in park and it took me several minutes shutting my truck on and off and messing with the knob changing gears before I was finally able to get my truck in gear. Fast forward three days now I am getting a warning light to "service shifter". In doing research trying to find more information I have discovered several Ram truck owners are or have experienced the same issue. This is a safety issue for many reasons. As a female I am worried about getting stuck somewhere and being put in a unsafe situation. From all the complaints I read on line I feel strongly that this needs to be looked into.

The location of the shifter knob, in close proximity to the fan control knob, poses a danger while driving the vehicle. I was driving at 70mph on the freeway and went to turn down the fan when I accidentally turned the shifter and the truck went into neutral. The 4wd has never worked in my 2019 Ram 1500. I bought the truck in November of the same year, I tried to engage the 4wd with the snow that year and it would not engage. Notification showed service 4wd, I took it to a ram dealer in South Carolina where I worked out of town they had it for two days and they informed me they didn't know what was wrong with it. I then took it to the dealer at home they kept it overnight and installed a new actuator. It engaged the first time and then back to service 4wd. This time was different it stayed in neutral, I turned the emergency brake on and turned the truck off. The dial tried to return to park but couldn't so with the truck off and Ebrake applied I had to have a tow service pick it up and take to the dealer. I then scheduled an appointment with the dealer I purchased it from and they said they updated the software and it was working. I tried to engage the 4wd in the parking lot and it still showed service light. They kept the truck for two days and said a gear in the transfer case was bad and I had to pay $1,000 to fix it. But the same year truck has a recall for the same issue I'm having. I declined the service due to an active recall. About a week later the power steering wasn't working right. When I was doing highway speed and would turn left it was like I had to fight it back into the lane, but only while turning left. I then took it to a mechanic and he said the truck was clearly over steering from the wear marks and that the R&P looked good no leaks but it may be the rack. So I looked at the active recalls and sure enough there is an active recall for the same year truck for electronic power steering and the transfer case but when entering my VIN it says my truck has zero recalls? I really hope something can be done I've lost my job due to cardiac arrest and used my 401k to pay the lein off just to have all these issues. Thank you

The contact stated that the vehicle had seized in the middle of the road. The contact was able to safely get the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed rear suspension and a failed rear differential axle and that the rear suspension and rear differential axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear suspension axle seized again. The contact was able to move the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failed rear differential axle and failed rear suspension, and it was determined that the rear differential axle and rear suspension needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle had been at the dealer for six months and the vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

On 1/13/2024 driving at around 35 mph truck stalls with no waring light displayed on dash and no indication of anything being wrong prior to stalling. I was able to pull off safely to which truck auto shifted into park when I came to complete stop. The truck restarted fine but when I went to put in gear truck would stall. After around 5-10 I was able to to get truck in gear and drive for awhile. Stopped for lunch that day and when returned started truck and when I put in gear truck would stall again. This occurred multiple times until it allowed me to put in gear. I was able to go about 40 miles until issue occurred again this time I was on a highway when it stalled luckily I was able to pull off road and at this point I called a tow truck and had it towed to a dealership. Dealership is stating that they cannot reproduce the problem.

Vehicle 4WD functionality. Vehicle fails to engage 4wd system. If 4wd does get engaged and used, it will say “4wd overheated” and “service 4wd system” and no longer engage 4wd. Working on getting this to the dealer but seems to be a fairly common issue with these trucks. Multiple individuals complaining of the same issues.

On December 30, 2023, my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie edition suddenly and unexpectedly popped out of gear into neutral while driving approx. 35 mph. The vehicle engine was on, however, no power was being applied to the drive train as the vehicle was in Neutral. The engine revved fine, just no power to the drive train. The gear selector flashed “D” and a message appeared on the center console information center instructing me to shift into Park. I had to stop the truck in traffic, shift to Park, then back into Drive to get the truck moving again. This was a very serious and potentially dangerous situation requiring me to stop on the roadway before I could effectuate shifting into Park and then back to Drive to get the truck moving again. I contacted the Ram dealer that same day and was able to obtain an appointment for the truck on Jan. 2, 2024 for an inspection and repairs due to this very serious and potentially life-threatening matter. Sometimes it shifts into neutral while vehicle is in operation, on its own. Sometimes when cold (not reached normal operating temperature, the transmission sticks in fourth gear while down shifting. I can feel and hear the downshift from 4th to first while I am decelerating. This causes the transmission to jump into neutral. The "DANGER" is when the transmission jumps into neutral while I am in the intersection or about to merge onto a busy roadway. I have to come to a complete stop (in an intersection or merge lane), shift the truck into park, then to drive. I have taken my truck to the dealer four times since 2019 regarding this matter. The dealer claims there are no codes, unable to recreate scenario, hence no repair made.

I had my oil changed and my OIL Pan is rusting out which would be critical when driving and could cause engine harm. I was told that my Warranty just ran out on 8/30/23. However i only have 42,500 miles on the truck. I Have owned over 20 vehicles in my lifetime and i have never had any issue with an oil pan rusting out.... I thought it was aluminum but obviously not.

Vehicle after driving and shutting off, fails to start. Only having an audible click noise. Truck required to be towed to home. Battery provided sufficient voltage and shows to have continuity from starter relay to solenoid. Disconnected the negative battery connector overnight. After sitting unplugged from battery overnight and reconnecting in morning, the truck started 1st attempt, however now has several codes popping up P1DF3, P2111, P2017 and U0402. (There were no prior issues: as truck would start and drive with no delay and no service engine lights.) After the 3rd attempt to start the truck after previously having the negative cable disconnected, it failed to start and would only have the audible click sound. Vehicle milage is less than 36,000. This is a risk to consumers as the faulty start may leave a party in unsafe environment, or cause financial burden risk due to a required need to tow the vehicle, or may cause damage to components for continued attempts to start the vehicle. In researching this have seen multiple forums that disconnected this to be a large issue for the Dodge Ram, this should be required to be a Recall to fix the ESM/TCM that is causing this issue.

I believe it is related to the mild-Hybrid (eTorque) setup as this appears to only occur on those models of pickup trucks. Steps to reproduce: - Car sits all day outside my office in Virginia summer heat - Turn on car without A/C so the Start/Stop can engage. - Approach stop light and Start/Stop engages for the duration of the stop - After waiting ~4 minutes for the light to turn, when I release my foot from the brake there is a sharp jolt/lurch and the truck appears to stall or fall out of gear. There are times, where it will not fall completely out of gear, but will jolt violently from a stop as the engine restarts. - The instrument clusters displays "Shift to P and then desired gear" - After applying the break and following the above direction, the truck will resume normal operation Safety Concerns: While this happens to me at a stop light while turning onto a main road, there is nothing stopping this from happening when I attempt to accelerate into traffic or across a busy intersection without a light. Dealer Reproduction: The dealer is aware and has seen the truck many times, but has been unable to reproduce the issue. They have tried various PCM and TCM updates, but, so far, none have resolved the issue. Inspection: The dealer has inspected the vehicle and has found no trouble codes Other notes: - No warning messages or indications prior to this happening. I first noticed this at 34K miles and am now at 46K miles. - I am curious if this is related to: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCLRPT-23V265-2735.PDF but slightly less severe in that it doesn't happen while moving. Reports have indicated that cleaning the throttle body may offer some relief which would support this hypothesis. - I have and can provide video of my truck exhibiting these symptoms

Defective shifter. Vehicle is automatically shifting in Park while in drive causing vehicle to stop moving while driving, in traffic or at a stop light. Vehicle accelerated and cut off in the middle of an intersection and almost got rear ended because vehicle would not move. When shifting to drive again it immediately switched to park stranded me in the middle of on coming traffic. This is horrific especially if it would happen on an interstate. This happened also at a gas station putting the truck in reverse backed a little bit than automatically shifted to park stranding me in the middle of the parking lot. I had to turn off the truck and start it to shift back in gear. The truck shifted by it self multiple times. This safety issue could be detrimental. I was scared to continue driving my truck. Turning in front of someone had me nervous because when I tried to accelerate the truck shifted in to park and stopped moving multiple times. Reaching the internet to find out why. I found multiple people had the same issues. This need to be fixed before it cost the life of someone

This is an emissions issue. The exhaust manifold bolts have failed and are failing. This ultimately releases nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, benzene and formaldehyde fumes into the cabin area. Broken exhaust manifold bolts directly causes failed manifold gasket(s). Failed exhaust manifold gaskets causes emissions (nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, benzene and formaldehyde fumes) to be released and to build up in the engine compartment and into the cabin rather then safely through the exhaust system and catalytic converter and out the rear end of the vehicle. This problem has been confirmed by the dealer (documentation forthcoming). This problem was denied warranty repair by the extended warranty purchased at the dealership and by RAM customer service by phone 7/7/23 8:41 am. There were no warning lights or messages. The problem was identified by the dealer technician when inspecting for another unrelated issue.

The vehicle has worn out mechanical components and shakes at highways speeds and the wheels bearing/balljoints are so bad the vehicle swerves all over the road and is nearly impossible to keep under control. I visited the dealer service center and asked for it to be repaired. They answered my call after a week and said they have found nothing severely wrong with the truck and it is ready to be picked up. This is a danger to all drivers on the road also to my girlfriend and I. This is unprofessional and criminal.

The truck intermittently comes out of gear when braking. A bell rings and a message is displayed on the dash instructing the driver to shift the truck into park and then select desired gear. The dealership cannot replicate the problem and has not been able to fix the problem. The truck has been in and out of the dealership for the past year and the problem still exists. I have an active lemon law claim with Ram. They denied the claim stating it is a warrantee matter, but they cannot fix it. I have a call into the Department of Consumer Affairs to initiate the arbitration process. My family and I are afraid to drive the truck due to the safety issue.

When driving at speed and speeding up the transmission can go out of gear and leave the truck unable to accelerate. This has happened on the highway multiple times. Dealership CJDR24 unable to diagnose issue. Has been there twice. First time they said it was battery next time they said it was a transmission recall code that needed to be reset. Issue still remains. It is not a persistent issue but it is dangerous and has almost caused accidents on multiple occasions. To get transmission back in gear vehicle must be put in park or turned off then back on and it can drive normally again.

The driver side exhaust manifold is leaking. I have had the passenger side replaced already. That issue occurred around 55,000 miles on my Ram. I am at 80,000 miles now with the driver's side having the same issue. I believe it is a bolt. I can smell exhaust and think this could cause a fire if not corrected. Along with the fire issue, I have noticed a decrease in gas mileage and believe to be experiencing lag or loss of power at times.

The vehicle lost power, and all of the service lights on the dashboard started lighting up, wipers turned on and off by themselves, headlights turned on and off. Most of the messages stated that service was required on AWD, shifter, parking assist, power steering, brakes...etc. The truck wasn't picking up speed and started shaking. At some point, I felt like the brakes were NOT responding. I was 2 minutes away from home, so I drove home and parked it. I found a few other 5th generation Ram owners online with the same issue. However, I just hit 40k miles on the car, and the basic warranty only covers until 30k miles. If this is a common problem, why isn't there a recall to fix the problem before someone crashes their truck, hurt themselves, or hurt someone else. This only adds to the water leaking from the back window problem.

74,000 miles: I left a parking lot the transmission wouldn't shift, check engine light came on, I pulled over, shift knob went to park on its own. I shut off the engine, waited, restarted, shifted to drive, same thing, I repeated the same process. This happened a total of 3 times. 4th attempt I was able to drive normally. I have constantly had issues with the shift know not recognizing park. I have contacted my dealer and I'm told that I'm opening the door to soon. Bring it in when it's acting up, we have never head of this, the list goes on. I have also been driving to work and the engine light has come on, I got to a stop light, stopped, shift know went to park. I couldn't move the shift selector. Shut off the engine, waited about 15 seconds while drivers are blowing there horns, drivers in the other lane are driving by. Restart the engine, I still couldn't move the shift selector. Repeat. Then I could drive again. No check engine light. Once again contacted the dealer, I was told that unless it has an active check engine light they cant do anything. At some this vehicle will leave me stranded.

2019 ram 1500 continually shifts into park while the vehicle is moving. The problem occurs when slowing and the Ram attempts to downshift. The shift occurs when the vehicle speed is slowing below 25 mph. I have had the vehicle serviced for this issue and the dealer cannot solve the issue but “upgraded “ my software for $300 with no resolution. The dealer is now saying they can’t help me as they don't know what the issue is and their transmission expert isn’t available. I have almost been involved in over dozen accidents due to this happening. When slowing or coming to a stop at an intersection or in heavy traffic, when the vehicle malfunctions I either have to quickly shift the electronic knob to park and then back into gear. If that doesn't work, I have to stop the vehicle completely then shift into park and then drive. In 4 separate instances I was performing a left turn against oncoming traffic and the vehicle shifted into park came to a stop while crossing in front of other vehicles. This issue started to occur last year, would stop happening, start again, and recently occurs daily. Video of the issue is available.

Vehicle powertrain, engine, and electrical systems, including brake, power steering, and dashboard systems completely shut down (were completely 'black'/off) on three separate occasions - two of which occurred while operating the vehicle. The first occurred while driving on a public/local road in early Dec 2022. Although all systems lost power and were unresponsive, I was able to coast the vehicle to the shoulder without impacting moving vehicles or fixed objects. The vehicle was towed to a Ram Service provider where the issue was investigated for approximately 10-days. The reason for mechanical failure could not be determined, however, they replaced the battery and key fob as precautionary measures - partially at my cost. The basic warrantee expired approximately 3,000 miles before servicing, however the powertrain warrantee is still valid. The second instance was today, 1/10/23, when I parked the car. The shutdown occurred while stationary and in 'park'. After leaving the vehicle for about 30 minutes, it started again without explanation. I reported the incident to the Ram Service provider and began to drive it to the service provider. Upon arrival, it was suggested that I return on Monday, January 23 for the issue to be investigated on the 24th. While driving to my home today, 1/10/23, the vehicle lost all power and was nearly completely unresponsive. I was operating the vehicle at speeds in excess of 65MPH on a 6-lane divided highway with minimal shoulder. Again, I was able to coast the vehicle to the narrow shoulder where it was eventually towed from and to the Ram Service provider where the issue remains under investigation. The photos, taken today, 1/10/23, show the location where I was able to park the vehicle from the highway and the narrowness of the shoulder, and the tachometer and speedometer which show the speedometer and tachometer 'frozen' and still displaying RPMs/speed from before the shutdown. Notice no warning lights appeared.

The vehicle was restarted, and the power steering functionality returned. The contact stated that the check engine warning light remained illuminated, and the gear shifter failed to move out of park(P). The contact waited for several minutes and was able to drive the vehicle; however, the vehicle lost power steering functionality again. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V020000 (Steering). The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, and both confirmed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic 3.6L Pentastar that I was driving home in from being out of town, and as soon as I got back in town I started getting the smell of burning oil coming through my AC vents when I would stop. I assumed it was a car nearby, but once I stopped at my house the smell came back. The next morning I went outside and there were a few drops of oil under the truck, so I looked underneath and the transmission pan cover underneath my truck was covered in oil. I couldn’t figure out where the oil was coming from, so I took the truck to my mechanic. They took a look at it and saw that the leak was coming from my oil housing assembly, and oil would run to the back of my engine then spill down over the transmission’s bell cover and drip off the transmission pan cover. This mechanic is not a large mechanic by any means, and they said that they usually get 20-30 of these same trucks every year with the same exact problem: a leak coming from the oil housing assembly. They said that it happens because the manufacturer cut corners when making this part, and after 60-90k miles it will give out due to the heat coming off the engine. They also said that the manufacturer and dealers will try to blame it on the consumer stating they over torque the filter when replacing it, but that is not the case at all. It is the quality of the oil filter housing that is the issue, and the manufacturer needs to improve the quality of the part and do a recall for this part. My truck was just over 80k miles when this occurred a few days ago, and the mechanic was not able to get an aluminum aftermarket version of this part, so I’ll have another 60-90k miles before I have to drop another thousand on this part. Please fix this issue and issue a recall.

Vehicle engine shuts off while driving and engages auto-breaking feature. First occurrence was at steady 35 miles an hour, engine shuts off suddenly and no warning lights/codes are displayed and the emergency auto-breaking feature kicked in before I guided vehicle off the road to a complete stop with a delivery truck behind me almost rearing ending. I confirmed gas and oil levels are within range, checked TIPM fuses and none were loose or backing out, key fob battery replaced within last year. The next day the vehicle will start and immediately shut off, no warning lights or codes on the display. Looking online this appears to be an issue many owners are experiencing with no recall or definitive answer from FCA and is creating extremely dangerous situations. I have videos of the vehicle starting and shutting off unexpectedly. Occurred on 11/29/22, appointment with dealer is scheduled on 12/8/22 so no additional root cause information.

While driving the truck, driving 80mph on highway the truck disengaged from Drive to neutral, with a notice on the dash to pullover and shift to park to drive. When truck disengaged from Drive while in motion I lost all acceleration power, and had to coast over to side of road to a stop. The truck disengaged from Drive on 3 other occasions. I almost died when the truck disengaged from drive while makeing a turn through an intersection and almost getting hit my a tractor trailer. I contacted Dodge FCA, filed complaint, then i took the truck to the dealer and after having my truck for 22 days, they said I needed a new transmission on my 2019 ram 1500. The truck drove fine for 2 weeks then it disengaged from Drive again while driving, 2 times this morning. I contacted dodge fca and they said they couldn't do anything till the dealer looks at it. This is a major safety issue. I refuse to let my wife and kids ride in this truck because I am not going to have my wife and kids die in this truck because of these major safety issues. This is a known issue on all dodge ram online forums and dodge has not addressed this issue or acknowledged it. There is something wrong with the electrician system. I have had 2 batteries replaced, radio replaced, manifold, transmission, full tail light housing, active noise cancelation system fixed. There has been so many issues from day one when I bought the truck, but this MAJOR issue with the truck disengaging from drive to neutral while in motion is the most serious. Seems like dodge doesn't have an issue till someone dies in an accident from this issue, because this issue can not be replicated and doesn't not show up at a fault on the dealer test systems, due it everything in vehicles being computerized and digital. Something needs to be done about this

Went for routine maintenance and was told a front axle shaft retainer clip had failed allowing axle to move away from differential. This was at the Dodge RAM dealer. Car is a 2019. I called to speak to Dodge representative and was told this was a recall issue but not for my VIN. I find it hard to believe that this failure on a 3 year old truck would not be due to a similar issue.

Twice now the truck has acted like the gas pedal was stuck down even though it was fully released. The first time I was parking in my carport, I had just put the truck into park, and the rear tires started spinning and spitting rocks. I had to shut the truck off to get it to stop. If I hadn't had the brakes on to stop initially I would have went through the wall in my carport. Took the truck to the dealership, they said there was a recall on the floor mats, they replaced those, and sent me on my way saying that was the problem. The second incident was a week later while approaching red light at a downhill intersection I applied the brakes, but the truck continued to accelerate aggressively. The rear of the vehicle started to slide back and forth from the force of the tires spinning. I was going to hit the vehicle in front of me, so I had to forcefully put the truck from drive straight into park and turn the engine off. I had to flatbed the truck back to the dealership due to safety concerns, they kept if for seven days, and when I went back they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They said perhaps it's driver error and wouldn't say much else ,and they won't do anything about it because they couldn't get the truck to replicate what happened to me. The paperwork they gave me shows that only drove the vehicle one mile at best.

On 07-20-22 I was driving home from work in the evening around 5:45 pm, out of nothing, i noticed my temp gauge starting to rise. It rose up to alarm level (overheating). I slowed down and pulled over, and noticed the temp gauge starting to drop down to below overheating but still above normal. Note: I live 4.7 mile away from work and the highest speed limit on my way home is 55mph. I limped slowly with the truck while paying attention to the temp gauge until i pulled up in my drive way. When I opened the door of the truck, i was hit by a huge cloud of white smoke coming from underneath the truck. I shut off the truck and moved away quickly. I noticed a reddish fluid coming from underneath the truck. I could not tell what it was at the beginning but it was oily. Later on I realized it was transmission fluid mixed coolant. Note: transmission fluid is flammable. Due to distance of 4.7 miles distance to my house the truck (exhaust) had not warmed up enough to ignite the transmission fluid. It was later identified by Mike Shaw dealership in Greeley CO, that the heat exchanger (from the radiator) on the transmission body had failed and transmission fluid and coolant mixed rendering the whole transmission void. I was lucky i drive a short distance otherwise the truck would have caught on fire. The truck was towed from my drive to the dealership by my insurance. I am raising the concern because i saw a report by a 2019 Ram owner on your website who had the same experience and unlucky to him, his truck caught fire and burnt down. See January 5, 2022 report NHTSA NUMBER 114446344. I bought the truck brand new on January 1, 2019 in Greeley CO. I am the only owner and driven mostly home to work and occasional trip, very minimal towing averaging twice a year. My truck has little over 70k mile on it. Today, over a month after the incidence i am still waiting to receive the truck from FCA/Dealership back. I was promised to have it back over a week ago. And, cost is going up.

Transmission falling out of gear when transmission fluid temperature under 100 degrees, error message "Shift to P then to desired gear" on dash when slowing to a stop, puts vehicle in neutral and the driver must shift the vehicle into park then put it back in drive to continue. The vehicle can be inspected upon request. This fault is has put me in danger multiple times a day, more notably when slowing to a stop at a red light, the vehicle was still at 12 MPH on the brakes, the light turned green and I had to pull over or get rear ended. The problem has been replicated multiple times by the technicians at my local CJDR dealer, and with live diagnostics the vehicle produced no error codes. I have contacted Ram Cares and they have said they would elevate it to a STARs case but my service advisor said it would be a drawn out process and said I should just get rid of it if I can make my money back. The vehicle has not been inspected by someone employed directly by Stellantis. The problems first appeared a week and a half after I purchased it.

I was driving my truck home and while approaching a stop sign I proceed to apply the brakes, my vehicle drop out of drive, the D on my shift knob began flashing and a message was displayed on the panel that stated " select the P (park) and then desired gear". I looked online to see if I was the only person having this issue and it turns out that this issue is all over the forums. I considered this to be potentially dangerous issue since this could also happen in traffic. I contacted the dealership and they stated that there was no recall notice for such an issue. They stated that they were backed up with service issues and could not look at my truck for weeks. I think RAM (FCA) should look into this issue asap.

When I come to a sudden or slow stop either coming to a stop sign or going around a corner or traffic jam on the highway, my truck will sometimes surge and accelerate suddnly before coming to a complete stop. When that doesnt happen the truck will just drop into nuetral and the cluster will display " please shift to park then select desired gear". Its not just annoying but a safety issue since ive almost been rear ended twice and almost t-boned while my wife and 8 year old daughter were in the car with me. I cant moved till i stop the vehicle to put it in park and then back in drive everytime it does it. Its been happening ever since 25k miles and im at 52k miles. Ive take. It to the dealer twice and they daid they couldnt replicate the problem so they couldnt do anything. Then no dealer near me does courtesy vehicles except one 50 minute away from me but they only have two courtesy trucks and they are always out and have no idea when they will get them back and i work out of my truck so i need a truck so i can never schedule an appointment to take my truck in for anything including this issue. I just want my brand new truck to work that im paying $600 month for. I dont wanna trade it in and get stuck on a new loan and more money out of my pocket. This is the most aggravating experiance of my life and no way to reconcile the issue in site. Please help.

Just left my house. Came up to the second stop light, about 4 blocks away from my house , slowed down to stop for the red light when the truck just shuts off. The lights came on in the information center and stated to put the truck in park and restart the truck. There was a red lightning bolt displayed in the info center as well. This is about the 5th time the truck has done this, just stalling and shutting off for no reason. Seems to only do this within 5 minutes of starting the truck after it has been parked for hours.

While I am driving my Rebel the transmission pops out of the driving gear while driving which makes me have no power when on the road. I have to come to a complete stop and put my truck into park and then back into drive before I can take off. Every time this has happened I have almost got hit by other cars with my family in the truck with me. Chrysler customer service rep hung up on me today and said there is nothing they can do about it. My dealer told me they can’t duplicate the problem so come pick up your truck. Not sure what to do, but I know I’m scared for anyone to drive this truck because it can be deadly. DCH Dodge of Temecula Ca sold me this truck I hope they can fix this problem for me. Chrysler has been useless they obviously don’t care about there customers lives. While driving the truck it will randomly put itself in neutral and the dash will indicate it must shift to P then desired gear and the Gear selector will be blinking D which can only be done by stopping the truck completely. My dealer is unable to duplicate the issue. It has happened 4 times since i,ve owned it new. I have video of it doing it. I see others having the same issue on youtube and on ram forums if you google ram truck must shift to p to select gear. Imagine trying to cross lanes or merge with traffic and have your truck randomly go into neutral.

On 06-06-2021 my wife, daughter and Me and our three dogs, was heading to are first destination on are 2 week vacation pulling are camper. In about 150 miles into the trip started smelling diesel, pulled over on a narrow 2 lane road couldn’t see anything. So my wife found a road we could pull off on to check everything out a mile away, right before we made it to the road a (service electronic throttle) message came on, so made it to the road to pull off stoped and instantly smoke started bellowing out from the back of the hood. I hopped out and started feeling something burning my legs looked down and saw liquid aluminum dripping and yelled from everyone to get out, by to time we got everyone out the whole front of the truck way fully on the so I got what I could get out and my wife was on the phone with 911. Knowing that the fire department is 20 minutes out I needed to save the camper. Fire is past the fire wall now, pull the panel for the emergency release to put the transmission in neutral one of the airbags blew up in my face and couldn’t get it out of park. So somehow I shook the truck and camper enough to get the pin out of the hitch and somehow someone drove by and asked them could they help me pull the camper away, and we hooked a chain and pulled it away. 24 minutes later the fire department arrived and everything I saved from the truck was in the grass and burned up to hot to get close to get. So 24 minutes of hell was just starting legs, hand burned and contacts burned can’t see well and back thumping. Calling everyone like Ram, insurance company no one will help. So the volunteer fire department pulled are camper to their fire station and stayed the night there until are family could pull us back home. Then the nightmare of dealing with the scummy progressive fight for almost 3 months that would not pay market value the time of the incident and somehow took over my claim I had. I have videos and pictures of the fire.

Upon braking and downshifting, transmission occasionally erroneously falls out of gear without user input. The "D" indicator around the shift knob and in the instrument panel display will blink. The instrument panel will also display the message "Shift to P then Desired Gear". A drop in engine RPM can be observed before the erroneous shift. The engine remains running and the transmission remains in a neutral state at this time. This can be dangerous when it occurs upon braking for a railroad crossing or yield and merge situation in which I cannot accelerate into traffic or away from an oncoming train. The transmission can be re-engaged only after shifting to P then back to D.

At low speed usually coming to a stop truck shifts to natural dash indicates to "shift to park" once shifting to park and back to drive truck moves normally. The truck has had this happened numerous times. I reached out to ram care and they advised me to have it scanned at a service dealer. I had the vehicle scanned and no issues were reported. Since then the truck had switched gears at low speed to natural and shift to park . This is dangerous and safety is one of the feature of this vehicle and this can cause many issues to safety to myself or other drivers.

I purchased my truck new in Nov 2019. Since then I have had four different occasions where my truck has stalled while driving at low speed or while shifting from drive to reverse. Two of the occasions I was pulling away from a stop and the truck stalled and I was stuck in the middle of the intersection until I put the truck in park and restarted. Luckily there was no cross traffic so there was no danger in this situation but it could have been much worse. The last occasion happened a couple weeks ago when I was moving my truck in my driveway. I shifted to drive and pulled forward then put my truck in reverse. As I put my truck in reverse it immediately stalled. I put it in park and was able to immediately restart it. However, it did have a check engine light on. The next morning I was going to take the truck to the dealer to have the light checked but it had cleared itself and there are no codes stored so the dealer can't do anything.

Complete dashboard and guidance screen went black. Shut vehicle off restarted came back on. Happened again week later came back on by self. Happens on once in a while. Dealer changed radio still happens. Vibration in drive line dealer said it was road force on my tires said I need to replace my tires. I replaced all tires still have Vibration.

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the warning message "Service Axle Wack" appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the power train control module had failed. The contact stated that the power train control module was reprogrammed however, the failure recurred while driving. The warning messages "Axle locked" and "Axle Locked, Service" appeared on the instrument panel along with two unknown warning lights illuminated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 21,453.

The vehicle has a tendency to hesitate when accelerating from a stop. It is as if the engine is stalling and then recovers. It occurs primarily when the engine is cold but has also happened when warmed up This is a safety hazard because it could leave the vehicle subject to collision form approaching traffic.

Now check engine light came on and it’s the code U11E9 which has to deal with the shutters in the front of the truck

I HAVE OWNED MY 2019 RAM 1500 (NEW) FOR 2.5 YEARS AND MORE THAN 30-40 TIMES OVER THIS PERIOD THE TRANSMISSION GETS STUCK IN 1ST GEAR. THE ONLY WAY, I'VE FOUND, TO RESOLVE IS TO PUT TRUCK INTO PARK, TURN OFF ENGINE AND THEN RESTART. IT HAPPENS WHEN I FIRST START DRIVING AND DON'T NOTICE UNTIL THE ENGINE "REVS" AND THEN REALIZE IT IS STUCK IN GEAR. HAD MENTIONED TO DEALERSHIP WHEN IN FOR REPAIR/SERVICE. THEY SEEM NOT TO BE AWARE OF ANY REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM. IT IS RANDOM AND ALTHOUGH CAN HAPPEN BACK-TO-BACK, IT IS SELDOM, SO HARD TO REPLICATE ON DEMAND. NOT SURE THE EXACT DATES OF THESE OCCURRENCES, AS I'VE GOTTEN USE TO IT, BUT WARRANTY IS COME UP AND THOUGHT I BETTER REPORT IT.

DRIVE SHIFT KNOB FLASHED 'D'. ACCESSORY POWER REMAINED ON. VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO A STOP, SHIFTED TO PARK, POWERED OFF, AND RESTARTED. DRIVER ACCELERATED VEHICLE TO MERGE BACK INTO TRAFFIC, TRIGGERING ANOTHER ENGINE SHUTOFF WITH THE SAME CONDITION. AFTER SECOND RESTART, WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN PARK THE ENGINE WAS REVVED TO VERIFY A POWER LIMIT REDLINE WAS NOT BEING SURPASSED CAUSING ENGINE SHUTOFF. AC/RADIO WAS POWERED DOWN AND VEHICLE REACHED DESTINATION 5 MINUTES AWAY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. CAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURE UNKNOWN, ALL FLUID LEVELS/TEMPERATURES NOMINAL, NO SMOKE OR VISUAL INDICATIONS OF FAILURE ON THE VEHICLE.

I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY IN TRAFFIC. I WAS ACCELERATING AT ABOUT HALF THROTTLE OR LESS, WHEN THE GAS PEDDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR (FULL THROTTLE). THE TRUCK ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL, I TRIED LIFTING THE GAS PEDDLE WITH MY TOE AND IT KEPT GOING STRAIGHT BACK TO THE FLOOR. I WAS BRAKING AND TRYING TO NOT CRASH. I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE INTO AN EMPTY LANE AND GET THE TRUCK TO COME TO A STOP. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS AT A STOP THE GAS PEDDLE REMAINED ALL THE WAY AT THE FLOOR. I LIFTED THE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY TOE AND IT WOULD FALL BACK TO FULL THROTTLE. I SHIFTED TO PARK AND THE PEDDLE RETURNED TO ITS NORMAL LEVEL. AFTER THIS HAPPENED THE TRUCK WILL NOT GO ANY HIGHER THAN 4TH GEAR NOW AND GOT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP.

NO ERROR WAS DISPLAYED AND THE KNOB STILL SHOWED AS IN THE DRIVE POSITION. AS I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THE RPMS ROSE BUT BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN NEUTRAL IT ONLY REVVED THE ENGINE. I HAD TO PULL OVER, MANUALLY PLACE THE KNOB INTO PARK, THEN WAIT A FEW SECONDS THEN BACK INTO DRIVE. THE TRUCK RESUMED NORMALLY AFTER THAT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL OR INTO A LOWER GEAR. I DID NOT TRY TO FORCE THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL WHILE IT WAS MOVING. THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO NOTE WAS THE POSITION OF THE GAS PEDAL I HAD JUST EASED OFF OF IT SLIGHTLY INTENDING THE TRUCK TO SLOW DOWN. LAST YEAR I HAD THE TRUCK SERVICED FOR THE RECALLS. TODAY 12/8/2020 WITH 7900 MILES ON THE TRUCK I PLACED THE TRUCK INTO SERVICE FOR THEM TO ASCERTAIN THE PROBLEM.

WITHIN 5,000 MILES, I NOTICED BRAKE NOISE ISSUES AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN LEESBURG, VA). THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING FROM BAD BRAKE PADS TO ROTORS TO MOUNTS - AFTER I REFUSED TO ACCEPT THEIR CLAIM OF NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING. AFTER TAKING IT IN APPROXIMATELY 6 OR 7 TIMES, THEY FINALLY CHANGED MOUNTING ASSEMBLIES, AND THE NOISE WENT AWAY. HOWEVER, I STARTED GETTING A VIBRATION BETWEEN 45 AND 60 MILES AN HOUR. I TOOK IT IN AGAIN, AND THEY SAID MY TIRES NEEDED TO BE REBALANCED, ROTATED, AND THEY SUSPECTED THEY HAD UNUSUAL WEAR SOMEWHERE. OF COURSE, THE PERSON TELLING ME THIS PROCEEDED TO SHOW ME MY TIRES AND NOTICED THEY WERE ALMOST LIKE NEW. HE SAID THEY FIXED IT TO THE POINT IT WOULD ONLY VIBRATE BETWEEN 75 AND 80 MILES. SINCE THEN, THE VIBRATION STILL PRESENTS ITSELF BETWEEN 45 MILES AND UP & NOW MY BRAKES ARE SQUEALING AGAIN.

ALSO TRUCK LURCHES, GRINDS AND RATTLES THE ENTIRE FRONT END SLOWING DOWN OR BACKING UP AT SLOW SPEEDS....THIS HAPPENS WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT BEING APPLIED. SOMETIMES WHEN I DRIVE THE TRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL STAYS OFF CENTER TO THE RIGHT AND PULLS VERY HARD TO THE RIGHT. CHRYSLER SAYS IT POSSIBLE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RACK BUT THEY DONT HAVE A FIX. GETS WORSE ALMOST EVERY DAY. 2ND PROBLEM....I HAVE NOTICED THE TRUCK HAS MARKS WHERE THE KNUCKLE AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM ARE HITTING EACH OTHER. I UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR STEERING STOPS BUT THESE ARE NOT STEERING STOP HITS. THESE PARTS ARE STRUCTURAL PARTS OF THE TRUCK THAT ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HIT. BOTH SIDES ARE DOING THIS AND I DO NOT FEEL THE TRUCK IS SAFE WITH THIS ISSUE AND IT HAS CAUSED STRESSED AREAS ON THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK. THIS COULD CAUSE PARTS TO FAIL AND HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES AT ANY SPEED THE TRUCK IS GOING IF THEY DECIDE TO FAIL. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES AND WAS JUST DROPPED OFF AGAIN TODAY. THEY SAID THEY MAY HAVE TO REPLACE THE PARTS THAT ARE HITTING...BUT THEY ARE THE SAME PARTS AND IT WILL DO THE SAME EXACT THING AGAIN. THEY GAVE ME A 2019 RAM TO DRIVE AS A LOANER AND THIS TRUCK DOESNT HAVE THE AIR SUSPENSION LIKE MINE DOES. I INSPECTED UNDER THE TRUCK AND FOUND THE SAME EXACT ISSUE ON THIS TRUCK. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER HAS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS THAT STARTED WITH THE DESIGN AND THEY ARE NOT TAKING CARE OF THE ISSUE. THE TRUCK OFTEN SURGES WHEN STOPPING AND POPS OUT OF GEAR AT ONCE A MONTH. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ADDRESSED BY UPDATING DRIVE TRAIN SOFTWARE. SINCE REPAIR IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AND I TOOK TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY STATE THEY CAN'T REPLICATE OR KNOW HOW TO FIX IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO HADDAD DODGE RAM (3000 HARRIS RD, BAKERSFIELD, CA 93313) WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DIFFICULT REAR PINION BEARING. THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V556000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000.

ERROR AND WARNING MESSAGES FROM ALL THE ELECTRONIC MODULES FLASHED ON THE DRIVER DISPLAY IN SEQUENCE. DEALER STARR MOTORS OF SUFFOLK, VIRGINIA INDICATED THAT WITHOUT AN ACTIVE CONDITION THEY CANNOT TROUBLESHOOT AND REPAIR SO THEY SENT US BACK OUT ON THE ROAD WITH THIS VEHICLE. ERROR CODE U1817 IS DISPLAYED AS A NON-ACTIVE HISTORICAL DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE. MANY TIMES DURING THIS SURGE THE TRANSMISSION GOES INTO NEUTRAL AND THE SCREEN INSTRUCTS ME TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND THEN BACK IN TO DRIVE. IT MAKES IT DANGEROUS IF THERE IS TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. THE TRUCK ALWAYS SURGES WHEN STOPPING AND POPS OUT OF GEAR AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ADDRESSED BY UPDATING DRIVE TRAIN SOFTWARE . SINCE REPAIR IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AND DEALER INSISTS THEY CAN'T REPLICATE. I HAVE PROVIDED A VIDEO SHOWING THE TRUCK POPPING OUT OF GEAR AT A STOP SIGH. THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANUALLY STEER TO A SAFE LOCATION IN TRAFFIC. NEXT TWO EVENTS HAPPENED AT THE START OF THE DAY SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE. A MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED ON THE PANEL "SERVICE POWER STEERING". THERE IS NO POWER STEERING FUNCTIONING WHEN THIS ERROR IS DISPLAYED. WITH EACH EVENT THE NEARBY SERVICE CENTER FOR THE MANUFACTURER HAS NEEDED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE DAYS TO WORK WITH THE MANUFACTURER ON A SOLUTION. ON ANOTHER ISSUE THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE FORWARD OR REVERSE ON FIRST DELIVERY (WITHIN 100 MILES) AND AGAIN AROUND 2500 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR AND NEEDED THE SERVICE CENTER TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION TO MAKE IT WORK.

I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY CURRENTLY HAVE THREE OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT AND THAT THERE WASN'T A FIX CURRENTLY. #2 COMPLAINT- A CLIP TO THE SLIDING REAR WINDOW TO THE BED OF THE TRUCK (PICTURE PROVIDED) HAS BROKEN TWICE BY JUST OPENING UP THE WINDOW FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME AND IT WAS FIXED. NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER, THE SAME PART BROKE A SECOND TIME. WILL BE TAKING IT BACK INTO THE DEALER SOON. #3 COMPLAINT- THERE'S A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT SUSPENSION AREA WHEN CERTAIN SIZED BUMPS OR HOLES ARE HIT WHILE DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS. ON A BRAND NEW 2019 DODGE RAM 1500 WITH LESS THAN 200 MILES ON IT, WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, WITH THE TRUCK STATIONARY, THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE RIGHT AWAY, BUT SUDDENLY ENGAGES AT 1,000 OR HIGHER RPM AND RAPIDLY LUNGES FORWARD. THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC SHIFT TRANSMISSION SO IT APPEARS THAT DESPITE THE VEHICLE SHIFT INDICATORS BOTH SHOWING THE TRUCK IS IN "DRIVE" AND READY TO MOVE FORWARD, IT IS NOT ACTUALLY SAFELY READY TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SINCE THE SUDDEN LUNGING OF THE TRUCK MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND COULD EASILY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN ANY CROWDED AREA, SUCH AS A PARKING LOT OR URBAN STREET.

ENTERPRISE RENTAL - WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY CITY FREEWAY, THE PICK UP TRUCK LOST ALL IT'S SPEED AS IF TRANSMISSION SWITCHED FROM (DRIVE) TO (NEUTRAL). THIS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 1,180 MILES (ODOMETER), AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE LEFT LANE (FAST LANE) GOING AROUND 75/80 MPH THE VEHICLE'S RPMS SPED UP TO 5000/6000 WHILE THE SPEEDOMETER SHOW THE VEHICLE SLOWING DOWN AS THE PICK UP TRUCK LOST IT'S SPEED. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON AS I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OVER ONTO THE LEFT SHOULDER. I ALSO PROMPTLY REALIZED THAT THE RPMS WERE AS HIGH DUE TO MY FOOT STILL RESTING ON THE ACCELERATOR, I ALSO CHECKED THAT THE PICK UP TRUCK'S GEAR WAS STILL LIT UP AS (DRIVE) - AND I CONFIRMED THAT IT STILL WAS, BUT THE PICK UP TRUCK WAS NOT RESPONDING. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE PICK UP TRUCK WAS PLACED IN (PARK) AND NO WARNING MESSAGES/LIGHTS LIT UP (BEFORE/DURING/AFTER INCIDENT). AS I THE PICK UP TRUK WAS STILL RUNNING IN (PARK) I TURNED OFF THE (A) BUTTON LOCATED BELOW THE GEAR KNOB (AUTOSTOP MODE) JUST IN CASE THAT MIGHT HAVE PROMPTED THIS (HIGHLY UNLIKELY BUT - JUST IN CASE). AFTER INSPECTING ALL GAGUES IN DASHBOARD (ENGINE TEMP/BATTERY/TRANSMISSION OIL TEMP ETC) ALL OK, THE PICK UP TRUCK WAS PLACED IN (DRIVE) GEAR AFTER, THE PICK UP TRUCK RESPONDED TO THE GAS PEDAL'S INPUT (NORMALLY). OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 100 DEGREES (F), PRIOR TO INCIDENT PICK UP TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 6HRS IN THE SUN; INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER DRIVING THROUGH A 1- 1 1/2 INCH RAISED CONCRETE BUMP (ON THE FREEWAY, TYPICAL IN TEXAS). PICK UP TRUCK HAD BEEN DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 1000 MILES IN THE LAST 2 DAYS (HIGHWAY MILES).

WHEN I TRY TO PUT MY NEW TRUCK IN GEAR (STATIONARY) THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS NOT TO SLIDE INTO DRIVE AND THE TRUCK JUST SITS THERE. I'VE CHECKED THE BRAKES AND AL THE DIGITAL STUFF AND NOTHING IS HOLDING THE TRUCK BACK, IT'S JUST NOT CLICKING INTO GEAR. THEN, WHEN I APPLY A LITTLE PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE REVS UP A BIT AND THE TRUCK LURCHES INTO GEAR. SOMETIMES, IT'S HARD TO KNOW WHEN THE SURGE/LURCH IS COMING, HIN I HAVE MAKES THIS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND THE TRUCKS SHOWS THAT IT'S IN GEAR, SO IT'S NATURAL TO HIT THE GAS AND GO. THE LAG AND LURCH IS HARD TO DETECT UNTIL THE WHOLE VEHICLE CONVULSES. THIS COULD ABSOLUTELY CAUSE SOMEONE TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. I'VE ALSO READ A SERIES OF COMMENTS ONLINE FROM OTHER OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY STICKS IN PARK WHEN YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE. IT RELEASES WHEN THE RPMS RAISE ENOUGH TO OVERPOWER WHAT IS HANGING. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD ONCE WHATEVER IS HANGING IT IS OVERPOWERED BY THE INPUT RPM'S, THE NATURAL RESPONSE WHEN YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE IS TO HIT THE GAS. IF YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING THIS TO HAPPEN, YOU CAN IMAGINE THE POTENTIAL RESULT. AT LEAST ONE PERSON (MANY HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN) HAS CLAIMED THAT IT OCCURRED IN HIS GARAGE WHILE HIS WIFE WAS CROSSING IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE NEARLY PINNING HER BETWEEN THE VEHICLE AND THE GARAGE. PROBLEM HAPPENS UNDER RANDOM CIRCUMSTANCES WITH NO APPARENT PATTERN AND CANNOT BE MADE TO HAPPEN ON COMMAND, IN MANY CASES THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT FIX ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT GET THE PROBLEM TO OCCUR IN THEIR PRESENCE. I PERSONALLY VIDEO'D IT HAPPENING AND SHOWED TO TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ONE WEEK AND WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED 5 MINUTES LATER. I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHILE IT WAS HAPPENING AND HE CAME TO MY LOCATION AND WITNESSED THE ISSUE FIRST HAND. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GARAGE, THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND IT INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT ENTERED THE VEHICLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT DRIFT BACKWARDS, BUT INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED RAPIDLY BACKWARDS OUT OF THE GARAGE OF THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT WAS NEARLY SMASHED IN BETWEEN THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR AND A STONE PILLAR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND THE FRONT FENDER WERE DAMAGED DUE TO BECOMING CAUGHT ON THE GARAGE PILLAR, WHICH BENT BACKWARD AND STRUCK THE FRONT FENDER OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THE DRIVE POSITION AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS. ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. IN EACH CASE I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND MAKING A LEFT TURN. UPON STARTING UP AND TURNING, THE TRANSMISSION REMAINED IN FIRST GEAR, MOTOR REVVING 4,000 - 4,500 RPM OR SO, UNTIL I REALIZED I HAD A PROBLEM. I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND LET THE TRUCK SLOW DOWN, IT WAS STILL IN FIRST GEAR, ALMOST CAME TO A FULL STOP, TRIED TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE BUT STILL NO SHIFT. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO A FULL STOP, THEN SLOWLY ACCELERATED AGAIN, STILL NO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I AGAIN CAME TO A FULL STOP, THIS TIME PUT THE SELECTOR KNOB INTO PARK, THEN BACK INTO DRIVE MODE AND ACCELERATED AND THE TRANSMISSION WORKED FINE. AFTER THE FIRST FOUR EPISODES I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOOK THE TRUCK IN THE SAME DAY. FIRST THING THE SERVICE REP DID IS CHECK FOR A OBD CODE, NO CODE WAS GENERATED. DEALERSHIP HAD IT FOR FOUR DAYS AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SINCE I'VE HAD THE TRUCK BACK ONE MORE EPISODE HAS OCCURRED. NOW I'M NOT SURE WHERE TO TURN. ALSO, ONE OTHER THING SHOULD MENTION EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENED IT WAS AT NIGHT. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT EACH EPISODE HAPPENED IN VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC, HAD IT BEEN IN A BUSY OR HEAVY TRAFFIC AREA IT COULD HAVE CREATED A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
