RF hub has now failed 3 times in the last 10 months. The last time they replaced the third brake like and now I am having the same issue. Dealership is telling me it’s the back window and that they will not pay for the problem to be fixed. Safety at risk by vehicle breaking down with no transportation on the side of the road. Problem has been confirmed by dealership which led to first repair. No warning prior to failure.

This is a 2020 Ram 1500 3.6L Big Horn. Blinker is constantly on for right turn when blinker arm is in neutral position. The only way to turn it off is to put the blinker arm down as if you are signaling a left turn. As such, I have no left turn signal. This could be dangerous for changing lanes especially on the highway. I have not brought this to a dealer yet and no one has looked at it yet except me. There was/is no warning signal. I have seen recall A2B/NHTSA 24E-082 which identifies two part numbers and also states that similar parts (SCCM) may be affected. I think I have a defective SCCM but there is no recall on my vehicle.

The alternator failed on my vehicle leaving the vehicle without any power in the middle of the interstate roadway having to manually pushed to the side of a very busy highway then towed to a repair shop afterwards. Simply put, my truck just killed in the middle of a interstate very shortly after having a low battery light come on. Speaking with the repair people at the Ram dealership there is no way to repair the alternator and they currently have over 5,000 of these on backorder from them going out in other vehicles with the same alternator. Warning lamps came on the dashboard but only about 30 minutes before the vehicle lost power and was unable to move.

The vehicle had 2 leaks; 1 at the rear cabin window and 1 at the rear brake light. Both of these areas are part of a TSB/class action lawsuit. Water was getting in and caused the module to go bad. The module not working in turn caused the battery to die and because of all the failed attempts and overloading the starter, the starter ended up going out after they started fixing the module.

After hearing a grinding noise coming from the engine, I took the vehicle (2020 RAM 1500 w/5.7L eTorque) to the dealer. It's been waiting for a replacement MGU (Motor Generator Unit) for over 3 weeks but I'm told it might take months to get a replacement part. Fortunately, I discovered this before having a breakdown on a busy highway or up in the mountains. Had that occured, I most certainly would have lost the ability to steer the truck and braking would have been diminished. I'm hoping this manufacturing defect is elevated to safety recall status in the hope of preventing future loss of life.

My truck was taken to the ram dealership in Conway, AR and they told me it needed an ABS Module and it was ordered and that was in January of 2025 so it has now been almost a year that the part (ABS Module) has been on back order and there is still no ETA. That is a serious issue and my truck that I have still been paying on is not fit to drive safely and hasn’t been since. Something needs to be done about that and time is very much of the essence!

ABS module needs replaced. It was recalled in all trucks except for this year model. It is currently on back order and I have been waiting for the part for almost a year! All emergency lights in the dash are on all the time and now when I am driving, the accelerator goes completely dead. It happens randomly and has happened multiple times now. The dealership has accessed this and stated that the ABS module will fix the problem. This is very dangerous and needs to be looked into. Why can’t they fix my truck?

The tensioner pulley seized up causing the serpentine belt to break and taking the MGU E Torque Alternator out. We have learned that there are no MGU parts available and we are one of 4000 waiting with no ETA available. You can’t buy a used one as they can not be reprogrammed to a different truck.

The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at 20 MPH, the message "Alternator Fault Detected" was displayed. The vehicle lost motive power and came to a complete stop in the middle of the roadway, where the vehicle was unable to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 40,000.

There is an issue with the turn signal and apparently all models 2021-beyond have this recall. The right turn signal will not turn on at all, and the left is always on when in neutral. This issue has come and gone but it’s been the case for the last few weeks again.

I purchased a brand new 2020 Ram 1500 with 5.7-liter hemi ETORQUE engine in 2020. The vehicle had been making a squealing noise since before 40k miles. Dealership was unable to identify issue on numerous occasions. On 4/8/2024, with vehicle mileage at 74k miles, the noise worsened to a point where the vehicle was not drivable. They identified the "Alternator" (MGU) to the etorque needed to be replaced. The part was on back order and did not arrive until 6/24/2025. At which the dealership replaced the part and expedited the return of the vehicle without proper assurance that the replaced part, fixed the vehicles problem. Less than 375 miles later, a system battery saver came up on the dash. Turning off all electronics in the vehicle including but not limited to A/C and radio. Temps were more than 100 at this time. Within less than 550 miles, the vehicle lost all power and shut off while in the middle of an interstate. I lost my power steering and luckily was able to move onto a narrow shoulder but was left in a very dangerous situation with my family on the side of a high-speed interstate, awaiting a tow truck for hours, without rear end protection. There were a lot of close calls and no urgency from RamCare Stellantis. I was told that the vehicle can only be seen by a certified ram technician. The only certified Ram Dealership that was willing to help was more than 30 minutes away, where the vehicle still sits today. Now the vehicle has been at a dealership since that break down on 7/3/2025. Awaiting another back ordered part, with no estimated eta. This time it is awaiting a 48V Power Pack, related to 8yr/80k mile warranty. I am having to pay out of pocket for a rental, while still paying on a car loan and insurance on a vehicle I have not been able to use since April. Customer service has been horrific handling my case. Leaving myself with no certainty that I will ever see my vehicle again or if the long awaited back ordered part will in fact fix the issue.

My 2020 Ram 1500 etorque had a major breakdown. My husband was driving down the highway in a construction zone when he lost power steering, power brakes and then the vehicle totally shut down. He had to steer it to the side of the highway, barely making it. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership who ran diagnostics on it and told us the Mechanical Generator Unit (MGU) needed to be replaced. The major issue: the MGU could not be found anywhere in the US. They wasn't able to order / backorder from anywhere. They said it could take months or longer to get the part. We couldn't go indefinitely without our truck so the dealer recommended we trade it in. That was our only option so that was what we were forced to do. We did not want another vehicle!! Ours was paid off.

Turn signal does not shut off regardless of the position of the turn signal switch. Appears to be an issue with the SSCM. The malfunction makes safe turning/lane-changing impossible. It has been confirmed by the dealership but has not been inspected. There was no forewarning prior to the malfunction and no indication besides the malfunction itself.

The Emission Device 'Active Grill Shutters' have failed for a 2nd time, with a MIL on my perfectly maintained, once at 38K, then again on 9/10/25 @45K mile truck. A Google search leads to likely 100's of other Ram 1500 Owners reporting the same issue and resultant MIL. The prominent cause of the issue appears to be the Electrical Connector. Some reports indicate seriously melted wires, and I assume a fire risk if not corrected. The dealer says it's a $525 repair. Please help me and 100's of others with this serious issue. Also I noticed a Similar Recall Action on Nissan for Active Shutters.

The Engine Generator Kit - Mopar part# (68623194AB) failed which drained the battery and when I stopped at a red light it put me in park and I couldn’t get into gear to move the truck, a tractor trailer almost hit me while sitting in the roadway. If I order this part which is on back order for over a month I will be the 4,601 person this has happened to. I feel this is a recall safety concern. Thank you.

On June 26, 2025 there was heavy thunderstorms throughout our area. I was driving to my office to pick up an item and all of a sudden my dashboard lit up with numerous error messages. I turned the truck off and could not get it to start again. I had to have it towed to the dealership and they cleaned some electrical connectors and returned it to me. My wife picked it up and on the drive home the windshield wipers went off and she also had numerous error messages on the dashboard so we returned it to the dealership. They replaced some modules as they found rust and returned the truck to me. When I went to the dealership to pick it up the truck would not start. They then said there was some corrosion in the star connectors and some moisture behind the radio. They replaced parts and returned it back to me. Since then I have had the truck back and had three more electrical issues with the vehicle. The service technician does not know what the error is and is having trouble pinpointing the problem. Its an electrical issue that they can't figure out. Tomorrow I am returning my truck for the sixth time for the same issue. I do not trust the truck to drive around and have not been able to use it for over 60 days.

2020 RAM 1500 with a bad MGU (Motor-Generator Unit). Dealer says they have 2 trucks already waiting on the same part since January. There is a massive backlog and Chrysler is not offering anything on when this will be available. It's on an "engineering hold". It will eventually fail in these trucks and render them inoperable. Waiting 8-9 months for a part should never be an option in any scenario. This is also covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty.

Generator/altenator. MGU system. Vehicle was hard to crank at store. After it cranked it seemed fine until I went to pull into traffic. Then it completely died In the middle of the road where I was nearly t boned by a garbage truck. All power was gone. No lights, no radio not a thing worked. After 10 minutes waiting in my wife, it cranked. I was driving home and it started smelling something burning like rubber in the cab. Apparently it was the battery in the back seat over heating. It never crunk again and is now in the shop after being towed. MGU failure and burnt batteries. On back order for months is what I am hearing.

RAM has a bad design on MGU's, new ones and old ones are failing, whining, causing engine spudder and no movement at times. Can't purchase one because RAM has them on "Engineering HOLD". Therefore they no they have an issue, not offer a replacement. I have been advised if they become available I'm looking at $2,000 for an alternator. That is insane.

The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500 Promaster. The contact stated that after parking and turning the vehicle off, he left it for approximately 10 minutes. The vehicle spontaneously caught fire. The contact was alerted that his vehicle was on fire. The contact noticed that the passenger-side headlight had smoke and flames four feet high. There were no warning lights illuminated prior to the failure. The contact and a bystander extinguished the fire. There were no reported injuries. A call was made to 911 emergency services regarding the incident. The fire and police departments were on the scene. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined the failure was due to the wire harness and headlight assembly. A claim was submitted to the insurance company. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted regarding the failure and left 7 voicemails along with emails but no response as of yet. The failure mileage was approximately 67,168.

I took it to the dealer and they say alote of trucks are having the same problem. They say It could be the module reader. Now my truck is not reacting to nothing at all.

I am writing to report a serious and dangerous issue with my 2020 Ram 1500. The vehicle has been randomly shutting off while I am driving, often accompanied by a strange acceleration or revving sound just before the engine dies. This has occurred multiple times without warning, creating an extremely unsafe driving situation. The issue happens at random and cannot be easily reproduced on demand, which I understand may make it difficult to diagnose. However, it is important to emphasize that this is a major safety risk that could easily result in a crash or injury.

Im also being told that the product is not being produced at the moment, which puts my vehicle out of commission until the part arrives.

Ram issued a TSB 23-098-23 REV. A for the rear window leaking. Water has soaked the inside around the air bags all down the rear seats and floor. I’m concerned the issue could have damaged my air bags and the electrical in the vehicle. Vehicle rear window has been replaced in 2023. Still leaking water in around the rear airbags.

Replaced the RFH Hub twice in this vehicle do to water damage. 1st time under warranty, the 2nd out of pocket. Noticed the second time they replaced the Backlit light seal under an extended warranty (XL1 Warranty) where the water came in from. Both repair receipts enclosed and a picture of another vehicle they were replacing the seal while picking up my repaired vehicle. Investigation revealed, they use to fix the back siding window seal which cost $1300, but they replaced the Backlit at $25, now I'm on the hook for $1081.71 and change. $936.71, for the repair, $144.00 for the tow, the same spot it was towed from the first time it happen. Both times it had rained heavily. Filed a reimbursement case with FCA, Case#93175918, they have yet to get back to me.

There was a griding under the hood and may lights went out. The dealer said my ETORQUE/alternator needed to be replace. That was done approximately 4/10/25 under an extended MO PAR warranty. Since getting the truck back, it has stalled on me 3 separate times, all at red lights. Twice when the 'auto stop' was engaged and then the car lurched forward after the stall had occurred for about 2 seconds, the third time the 'auto stop' was off, and the stall occurred for about 4 seconds, the car rolled backwards even though it was in drive and then it lurched forward and went. Dealership can't replicate the issue so they are telling me can't fix anything. I am very worried that the car will stall on me at another light or on the highway and something very terrible will happen.

So I am driving on the freeway 70mph and I get a message on my dash that says service shifter then every single light on the dash came on and started to make a beeping noise. I pulled over on the side of the freeway and then all the lights dissappear except check engine. I continued to drive to next exit and this time all lights came on again and truck appeared to be shutting off and turning back on while driving, steering wheel got hard to move all while all lights turning on, on dash. I have taken to shop 3 times first time they told me it was battery so I purchased battery and diagnostic fee for 600. Still continued to have issues even after replacing battery. Then they tell me they don't know what's causing this issue and the truck hasn't been fixed. I'll let the truck sit a few days and check engine light is gone and it will drive normal until the issues pops up again. I just don't know what to do about issue and have lost hope nobody seems to know what's causing thr issue. I have videos of this happening multiple times and I show to shops and they are just im awe and can't figure out what is happening. This happened to me yesterday 4/25/25 and while driving the truck started to show all lights on dash and immediately put itself into park while I was driving about 20 mph. Turned the truck off and started it back on again and got the service shifter message and drove home slowly and truck sat in driveway. I've taken in the truck multiple times and nobody seems to know what is causing the issue and I'm tired of spending money things they believe it to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are starting to lose hope on this vehicle and are thinking about letting get repossessed as it's not useful to us if it can't be fixed

MGU failure leading to car battery being completely drained and unable to run until replaced. Started with bearing noise coming from MGU alternator. Then check engine light came on. Before long a low voltage alarm appeared and was able to safely pull over before truck died. Truck is now unable to be driven until replacement of MGU. Dealer has been unable to source part for over a month and could be at least another month before part is ready to come in. Issue appears to be pretty common on 5.7 L Hemi E-torque Ram 1500's as was told part on back order at this time for over 3,000 other customers

Steering became sluggish, jerky and erratic. Started sounding like the power steering pump was struggling/straining. I put it in the shop and they claim it’s the eps and rack and pinion gone bad. It is being replaced. How unsafe is this at low or highway speed? How many other complaints are there on this same subject and part? 2019 eps was recalled. How do I find out if I have 2019 parts in my 2020. I know sometimes they are interchangeable. I look forward to hearing from you.

Driving down the road, my auto start stop failure light appeared on dash, followed by a check engine light and a battery light. Tried to pull over on the side of the road when I lost all electrical components including power steering, ac, radio etc. the truck slammed itself into park abruptly and turned itself off. I was stranded on the side of the road and nearly got hit by passing cars several times as I was in a curve in the road. After further investigation it has been determined that the bearings inside of the generator (part number: 68623194AB) went out. The part needed to fix the truck is not being made by the supplier and I have been nearly 2 months and counting paying for a truck to sit and look pretty as the truck is completely unusable. One dealership told me this part was on back order for over Five thousand customers.

The 48V Belt Starter Generator failed on my 2020 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L eTorque system. It caused my truck to stall in the middle of a busy intersection at a red light. The battery drained fast, and I couldn’t move the truck out of the way. I was stuck in a dangerous spot cars were coming around a turn at 45–55 mph, and since my hazard lights started dying too, I had to get out in the rain and wave people away so they wouldn’t hit me. I was honestly afraid for my life. I ended up calling 911 and my insurance to get towed out of there. Before it happened, I saw a battery warning and something about the battery system. A mechanic and a dealer confirmed the issue was the 48V generator. I started calling around for the part, and every dealer I spoke with told me it’s on national backorder. One told me there were over 2,600 people already waiting for it, another said over 3,000 are on the list and no one has any idea when they’ll get them. There are a lot of people dealing with this, and it’s not just an inconvenience it’s dangerous. This part failing leaves people stranded in traffic, sometimes without power or lights. Something needs to be done. A recall would be the right thing.

There is a high whining noise followed by a loss of power steering. There is a recall for the EPs system that stopped in 2019; however, 2020 is still using the same part. The recall should be extended to cover all vehicles manufactured using the part numbers associated with this issue. My truck is only at 50k miles, never off-roaded or abused, and maintained religiously by my personal mechanic. I was driving at 78 mph, and the steering locked up due to this issue. This created a hazardous scenario for me. The wheel released moments later, causing me to overcorrect and almost hit another car traveling on the highway in the adjacent lane. This has happened several times over the past week. I have adjusted my driving style until I can afford this VERY costly repair.

Around 86,000 miles, a metallic like noise that one would associate with a worn bearing began within what i determine to be the E-torque MGU. Subtle at first, but you could tell something wasn't the same with the sounds you hear within the engine. Between then and my current 88,800 miles, the metallic sounds has gotten more aggressive, which is logical to assume that might happen if a bearing part is wearing down. Just today, 3/21/2025, an uncomfortable rattle sound and visible vibration of the MGU unit appeared suddenly, making me uncomfortable to drive the vehicle any further without immediate repair for fear of risking un-necessary damage to other critical engine componenets.

Motor Generator Unit is making a whining noise, confirmed by the dealership that it's a bearing within the unit going bad. Per the dealer the MGU is on national indefinite backorder and from my research have been since at least January. If the MGU goes bad it shuts the vehicle down. Can be very dangerous if driving on a busy interstate or highway to suddenly lose power or possibly strand you on a road in bad weather. The backorder for this item seems to be a reoccuring issue.

Installed trailer brake assist. When we shut the truck off, the brake lights came on and stayed on. Assured by B&B trailer of St Augustine, Fl that it was an issue with the truck and not the part. Other issues have come up- dash lights also come on when turned off, backup camera, remote start, rear defrost, cig lighter plug, rear speakers, and A/C stopped working. Took it to Daytona Dodge on 1/29/25 where they diagnosed the ABS module had failed. They did a system reset and everything was ok until we had to disconnect the battery again- had to install a switch on the battery so lights staying on doesn’t kill the battery. Was told they’d let us know when a new part came in- mid February. Called Ram HQ on 2/17- case # [XXX] and that was no help. Referenced recall 85B and she said it was for a 2d row seating issue and said no ETA on new parts being made. My truck was mfg 2/2020 so how the software update recall doesn’t apply makes no sense. Would it have prevented this, who knows. Then called the dealer up and spoke to Stephen, a svc mgr, who recommended buying a used one ( he said aftermarket but I don’t think there is such a thing) and they would put it in. Got one from eBay and went on [XXX]. After I sat there all morning, I was told they couldn’t override the Vin that’s already on a used part. I have tried calling and emailing the service management team for follow up since then with no response. This is an abomination of customer care and needs attention. I’m hoping these parts are coming soon and that people like me are reimbursed and compensated for time lost and diagnostic fees and parts and labor. The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the check engine warning light and power train warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the steering wheel was difficult to turn to the left or right, and while pulling off the roadway the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that there were several unknown warning lights illuminated while attempting to restart the vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the E-Torque Alternator had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part to repair the vehicle was on a national backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,553.

My 2020 Ram 1500 5.7L e-Torque started making a noise. I then received a "Battery" indicator Light, then received an "Engine" indicator light. I was losing voltage on my battery. The truck is now at the Dealership. The alternator has failed (87k miles). No one has the part. It's been on back order since November 2024. Online research indicates that over 3000 are on back order. I can't even place an order with Mopar (Genuine Ram Parts Supplier). I'm also told that the repair will be $2300 - seems like a lot for an alternator that you can't get that can be replace in about an hour.

ETorque alternator failure. Driving down the freeway going 70MPH my truck went into complete shut down mode. Luckily I was in the right lane near an exit and was able to get out of a potential bad accident by breaking down on the freeway. Was told by the dealership and Mopar that this was not covered by any extended warranty and that this would be a $2000 fix with an unknown lead time as the part is on global backorder. I have been without a vehicle Since December 27th. was told 5000 of these parts were released on 2/17 but I would not be getting one of those. Still no line of sight to getting this part to fix my truck. Clearly based on this information and other posts this is a major issue with the ETorque Rams and a recall should be put in place and Mopar and Stellantis need to pay for this and fulfill these backorders ASAP. Being without a vehicle going on 2.5 months with no fix in sight is unacceptable.

The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after driving 35-45 MPH, the contact approached a stop sign, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart after pushing the Push-to-Start button. The traction control warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the key fob not recognized message was displayed. Vehicle has stalled twice while approaching stop signs, given me a “service start/stop system” light and makes a loud whining noise. These symptoms are caused by a faulty eTorque generator. The generator is on back order for nearly 5000 other customers experiencing issues with the eTorque system. It is extremely unreliable and will cause accidents if the generator breaks and stalls the truck while in motion. A recall should be issued ASAP and Stellantis should be pressured to fulfill the back orders for those experiencing faulty generators.

My MGU (special name for alternator on Ram E-Torque) went bad. Starts out as grinding noise (no check engine light yet) then shortly after - total failure. Mine has total MGU failure with check engine light on and voltage warning lights to. I have a an appointment on Feb 12 2025 to replace it. They said it’s going to take about 45-90 days for a replacement part. When failure of this part happens the bearings go first, with a possibility of fire risk, in my opinion. Metal grinding on metal creates friction then fire-in my opinion. I researched and talked to some parts managers at ram dealerships. The MGU is a joke. Everyone of them will fail prematurely. Look into this please. There are 5000 MGU units supposedly being produced and shipped out across the country. Those are being shipped out very slowly when available. Nothing fast about these replacements. And lastly, apparently Ram has decided to not make the etorque available on the V8 engines anymore. Only the V6 engines have them.

When slowing down for a stop the transmission will shift into neutral and a warning will pop up on display “shift to park then desired gear” this is happing on my 2020 ram and my sons 2019 ram but the dealer says there is no fix. I checked online and it looks like it’s happening a lot.

The DPF got so hot in a matter of a few miles (8 minutes driving) it blew a hole in it, and melted all the wiring under the truck, caused the engine to stop, automatically locking all the doors (thank God my child and husband had stopped and were out) before this happened.

complete engine failure driving on hiway in 65mpr traffic.. it was a sudden total stop no power no control. after 30 sec. or so i pushed restart button stepped on gas, no error code was shown but restarted. we were almost rearended as busy traffic going that speed. this has happened twice before. after taken to a chrysler dealership on DEC.30 ,2024 and a diagnostic run they could find no issue so we were given no answer. they could not offer any other advice. this situation could be a lethal issue. we could have been in a horrible accident. we would appreciate anything you could do for us. we are affraid to drive this and only 50thousand miles on this truck,which we bought new. Upon purchase brand new in 2020 with in a week a cylinder had to be replaced. Since then this truck has been in the shop for almost a year in total over the past 2.5 years. The recalled high pressure fuel pump went out at around 60k miles, this incident almost resulted in a major accident in the middle of the night as the power loss to the engine and brakes left me free rolling down the road into a stop light 4 way. When sent for repairs they had to replace the pump 6-7 times before they could give it back to me as well as the entire fuel system. The check engine light came on as I drive off and they had to replace the pump and other parts for the 8th time and kept it for another month. A couple months later the alternator went out and battery shorted on the freeway. And after that repair a few months later the alternator flooded with oil on the freeway in the middle of nowhere and the trucks dash lit up with electrical failure and check engine lights. This time the truck was repaired in 3 weeks and after 100 miles the engine blew completely on the freeway, I never made it home with the truck. They’ve had the truck at the dealership for 2 months the now and are quoting for a complete engine replacement at 72k miles on the eco diesel engine. This truck is a faulty piece of machinery and should not have ever been on the road. They can’t run the teuck for any testing as the engine will run away at max rpm when started.

Steering Rack and Pinion - Began malfunctioning (noise, and vibration when turning) at less than 10,000 miles. I visited Ram Dealer several times between 10,000 - 34,000 miles and they stated they could not replicate the issue. I drove the vehicle with their technical and they agreed there was an issue. Finally they replaced the Steering System when it had about 34,000 miles. This is a potential safety issue. Drive Selector Switch - I have had 3 selector switches (move from Park to Drive, reverse, etc.) malfunction and require replace (started in side of standard warranty), they appear to be replacing faulty part with same part. Most recent repair in April 2024 only lasted about 150 miles before the device went bad again. This is a potential safety issue. Radio - My 12" radio has been replaced 3 times. At times it impacts the controls of the vehicle features, heating, air-conditioning, etc. Starting at less than 10,000 miles inside normal warranty. Water Leak - I have a rear cabin water leak...mold and mildew in car (39,000 miles). The dealer did an initial inspection and said it had a know issue...back window and/or brake light leaks and requires further evaluation. This is a health issue - due to mold and mildew.

My RAM 1500 experienced some random electronic related issues (ie. warning lights showing when nothing was wrong and then going away). This was an annoyance, but would fix itself so I never reported it. Then I had similar issues and all of a sudden it kept dying on me and I had to jump the car. RAM came back telling me the back window had leaked and it destroyed the eTorque battery and RFhub. The estimate was absurd, so I started researching. Turns out that the back window leak is a we’ll know. common issue with RAM 1500s. So much so they extended the manufacture warranty on the back window and center mounted light. Unfortunately, my truck is not on that list. Beyond the cost of this repair, the safety issue occurs when RAM placed an eTorque LITHIUM BATTERY in the back seat directly under a window that has historically had issues with leaking. It is a common known fact that water and Lithium Batteries is not a good mix and could cause corrosion, short circuits, electrolyte leakage, and gas release. This can cause damage, overheating, fires, or explosions. This is the same seat that I have had my children in car seats. If the windows are known to have issues with leaking and RAM put a battery in a space that is directly under this window, would this not pose a significant risk?

While trying to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle electrical system turned off the vehicle and turned back on. When turning back on, it flashed through a series of error messages. One time was while in stop and go traffic and I was able to coast onto the shoulder and restart the vehicle. A second incident was in the middle of a busy intersection. Having had this shut down before, I was able to quickly turn on my hazards and restart the truck to then clear the intersection safely. I have personally had Dodge look at the vehicle under my ownership (bought it used from a dealer). In speaking with the service advisor, he mentioned it had 13 error codes reported on the DTC from loss of communication with PCM. There were no warning signs prior to the two events I have experienced. I have scheduled to take it back to the dealership for examination. The first event I experienced was on 11/25/2023 with about 35,450 miles. The second event was on 12/15/23 with 36,100 miles. I am aware of the recall on this vehicle but the shortage of parts has not allowed Dodge to service it for the recall yet.

On Thursday 16NOV2024 I noticed the rear sliding window on my 20' Ram had shattered on the drivers side section. The sticker on the back was damaged and appeared burnt. The weather that morning had been 35 degrees and partly cloudy. When I remote started the vehicle at 0700HRS, the rear defrost came on automatically. I drove about 10-15 minutes to work and parked. I returned to my vehicle approximately 10 minutes later and noticed a burning odor but thought it was due to a woodstove used nearby. Later in the day coworkers noticed the sticker was burned. I thought it may be intentional or due to the rear defrost system since the part that is wired and transitions to the heating grid is right under the sticker. We reviewed security footage from when I parked to when it was discovered and noone went near the vehicle. I suspected the defroster had an issue. I stopped at the dealer, my warranty was expired and I have glass coverage but I wanted to make them aware of the issue. The dealer glass rep took photos and said she'd never seen anything like it but would talk to engineers about it. The following day I received a call saying that she showed engineers the damage and was told that the system doesn't have enough voltage or heat to cause that damage and they wouldn't help. I wasn't looking for money, I have full glass/no deductible. I had the glass replaced the following Monday and asked them to save the parts I suspected of failing. I have photos of the part that appears to have failed and overheated causing the damage. I have a concern that worst case, if something had been behind the headrest up against it and the vehicle was in a structure that a fire could have occurred. I followed up with my photos and concerns but never heard back from the dealer. Noone has expressed an interest in seeing the failed part in question and I still have them in my posssesion.

On Monday, October 10, 2023, I started my truck in the morning when the temperature was 60-65 degrees. The truck turned the rear defroster on and after 10 minutes I put my two boys in the backseat and smelt a burning smell. There was nothing smoking, so I told myself I would look at it once I got back from dropping them off. I pulled out of my driveway and within a minute my back window shattered above my 3 month old. I took it to the Dodge/Ram dealership and they said based on their inspection the third brake light was leaking and water got into/on the window and when the rear defroster turned on it shattered the window. They said it is not covered under warranty even though the main cause was a manufacture defect with the the third brake light leaking water into the vehicle. So this repair is going to cost me $1,500 because of the leak. This is a major safety violation with windows breaking above kids or people in the back seat and electrical getting wet because of the leak in the third break light.

The frame of the back window is cracking causing water to leak into the cab. After talking to the dealership they are saying this is happening with RAM Trucks that has not been recalled. He stated that the control module is located under the rear seat which is getting wet and causing problems to the trun signals, starting of the truck and lighting to malfunction which could cause an accident. There is also airbags located on the rear roof that could cause them not to go off. This repair is going to be between 2000 and 5000 bucks depending on the damage. I believe this should be a safety recall due to the chance of someone's life being lost.

The start/stop feature on the truck has been malfunctioning and the light has repeatedly came on. The truck has stalled on me while driving on two different occasions. I was in the middle of driving on a busy road and also a highway and the truck stalled on me which could of caused any vehicle to the side of me, or behind me to hit my vehicle causing an accident especially when I have both my kids in the car. The dealer allegedly fixed the problem but clearly it is NOT fixed. The problem has been diagnosed by the dealer at their establishment. They say nothing shows the truck stalling in the computer but I have proof. The truck shook, the start/stop light came on along with the check engine light and then stalled out on me both times. I opened a case with ram care and they dont seem to be of any help nor is the dealer. The dealer refused both times to check the “e-torque” battery that controls the start/stop feature for any failures or malfunctions and gave the excuse that theirs nothing indicating its the battery yet that battery specifically controls that feature. Ram has also recalled 131k trucks and wranglers for stalling. Ive brought the truck to them 2 times this month alone and they refuse to check that battery which 2 other dealers said was the problem. I would of brought it to the other 2 dealers but ram care advised to bring it to the dealer where I purchased the truck from. This is seriously unreal and if something happens or my kids get hurt due to an accident this is gonna be a major lawsuit. I need your help.

Engine shuts down on stop. Normal. But sometimes when I take my foot off the pedal, the starter grinds unusually long and when the engine does restart the vehicle lunges forward. As my foot is instinctively on the accelerator, this sometimes could cause a rear end collision with another vehicle. This scenario has twice caused the engine light to come on. No related codes detected by dealer. The issue did present itself during a test drive with a dealer mechanic. He reset the codes to out the light. No code or solution suggested.

Rear window and 3rd brake light leaking multiple times. Rear window replaced multiple times. rear window leaked this time causing an electrical short draining my battery and cause certain electronic parts of the truck not to work properly. Cracks it rear window are extremely prevalent on this vehicle and it is a known issue yet there hasn't been permanent adequate fix by the manufacturer and isn't covered once warranty runs out. the problem is a composite frame to the window that is going to crack no matter what due to temperature changes and flex in the body of the vehicle.

2020 RAM 1500 with etorque. Truck 12v battery goes dead every 2-3 days. This was caused by a leak in the rear window allowing water to gather behind the rear seat resulting multiple issues including loss of control of navigation system, heater and radio. Dealer states water caused electrical shorts in canbus resulting in multiple system failures.

I was driving my car west on Sunnyside Ave just before Se 132nd ave at approximately 40 MPH. My truck then abruptly turned off and I lost all power. I coasted safely into the left turn lane and kept the brake on. The truck was completely unresponsive to restarting and there was no function of the start button. There was power in the battery but the engine and dash computer were non functioning. The truck needed to be towed to the dealership where it is located currently at Ron Tonkin Dodge/ram/keep service center at 16800 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Milwaukie, OR 97267. Currently no diagnosis as of 1136 on Friday January 20th.

While I was driving my vehicle just completely shutdown. I lost power steering and had to pull over to the side of the road. I pressed the start button and nothing happened. I continued to try pressing it and it finally started back up, and I drove home. A couple days later I tried starting it and it wouldn't start. Finally it started and I drove it about 100 miles. I got in it the following day and it won't start again. I'm concerned that the vehicle could shutdown on me again while driving.

Constant problems with the 12” screen and radio since day 1.LOTS of discussions online about all the problems with the screen locking up when searching for a SiriusXM signal. This become a safety issue because I can’t turn down or up volume for warnings or traffic data etc. I’ve gone to dealership multiple times and they’ve even replaced the radio without success. I’ve spends at least 60 hours over the course of 2 years taking to dozens of people at at least four different companies or groups. Depending on who you talk to you will get different information. This needs to be a forced recall because it is. It an isolated incident and is widespread.

The UConnect system shuts down completely and the climate system defaults to defrost with fans going to max and the heat turned up to Maximum temp. With front windows control disabled you are unable to lower or raise windows and with Uconnect shut off there is no way to turn off the heat. This takes place while driving. You are literally cooking inside the vehicle The BSM service light came on to indicate service needed on a sensor located in the tail light assembly. That notification triggered the electrical malfunctions of the other systems. After sitting for 12 hours the truck systems would reset. As soon as I started driving the same sequence of events would take place again. I repeated this every day for 4 days while waiting to turn this into a dealer for investigation and repair.

At a speed of 45mph, my truck completely shut down. No power on anything. I was able to pull off the road and come to a stop; power brakes and steering were not operable. Once stopped, the truck would not start. "Push to Start" indicator on dash did come on, but the brake pedal was stiff and the push to start button did nothing. Got out of the truck, exterior door lock button was inoperable and both key fobs did nothing. Had to have the vehicle towed.

This incident happened to me yesterday afternoon around 3pm in Syracuse. The rear heated/slider window exploded when driving causing glass to shatter outward from the cabin. I pressed the breaks when I heard the explosion and was fortunate no one was in front because there was ice on the road. Shattered glass was propelled outward but no vehicles were behind me, i was doing 50 on a 55, weather conditions were not great: 20 degrees and snowing pretty bad. I called the a dealership in Syracuse and they said they don't provide warranty to glass and to call the insurance. The insurance referred me to a shop in Syracuse (Safelite). The shop took me in and covered the area with a plastic wrap and told me that the glass won't get in unit l 5 days due to glass shortage. They also said they had a Chevrolet Silverado and a Ford F150 with the same issue during this week. They mentioned that all of them had one thing in common; rear defrost/heated, motorized slider window. The shop suggest to only use the defrost for a short period of time. That if the rear defrost stays on a prolong time it could heat the glass to extreme temperatures causing this scenario. I was never briefed on this procedure nor does my user manual i dictate such thing. Upon checking online I noticed that this has happened a lot, not only the rear window but the sunroof as well (no defrost option). I worry about glass particles falling into body parts of the passengers or potential debris hitting other cars behind you . I have an appointment for Wednesday to get the rear window replaced in a Safelite shop in zip code area 20678 and have to pay a deductible of $250.00 for something that I was not negligence. I think these are manufacturing defects, nothing hit the glass and scared the heck out of me. I'm lucky I didn't collide with anyone when I slammed the breaks.

While I was driving warning lights came up on the dash. Traction control, parking brake warning, red voltage. When I exited the freeway, and used the brakes to slow down , the truck was accelerating at the same time . I let go of all the pedals, and the acceleration continued with no feet on pedals . When I got to work, I put it in park . Took it out of park, and the truck started accelerating again on its own at a fast rate. Put it in park, put it in reverse, and the truck started accelerating fast again, in reverse, until I slammed on the brakes to stop the acceleration and put it into park . This is the second time. First time was few months ago, same issue. Dealer looked at it, couldn’t duplicate it, cleared the codes and said if it happens again they’ll have to call an engineer from Chrysler. Contacted dealer today , said nothing about an engineer and that they can’t look at it until next week.

I am experiencing electrical issues when driving the vehicle. On six different occasions, the truck has shut off entirely (no electrical/mechanical control) and have been stranded on the side of the road. Each time it seems the vehicle has to wait for something to clear or reset and then sporadically everything comes back on. I have taken the truck to the dealership and they have replaced a "broken hood latch" and the truck is currently at the dealership waiting on a technician to look at it. There are no specific conditions that I can say that is causing this issue to occur. It's happened while driving my son to school, where the truck shut off while at a stop sign. It also happened while driving down the highway doing about 75mph. Each time the vehicle is in some type of motion (5-75 mph) and just goes "dead" and then comes back on after waiting about an hour. Most recently, the vehicle has went dead and come back to life three times over the course of 4hrs (while waiting for a tow truck).

My 2020 Ram 1500 truck's dash lights, instrument panel, and radio screen randomly flash bright then dark, over and over. It is very distracting and a potential safety hazard especially when driving at night as the flashing changes quickly by going from bright to dark and back and forth. This lighting or electrical issue is very distracting while driving. This occurs randomly while driving, while stopped, and while driving at different speeds. This issue typically occurs on a daily basis, and happens more often on some days than others. I took the truck into the dealer and they had my truck for a week, but could not determine or fix the problem. There are no vehicle error codes showing in the computer, and I have shown them several video recordings of the flashing lighting that has occurred. For as much as this vehicle costs, this should not happen, and when it does they should be able to fix it.

Operating the vehicle at 35mph on a standard city street in Tucson, Az - River Rd. The vehicle flashes a system failure warning and then shuts off all power to the truck. This results in the transmission being thrown back into park and the driver having zero control over the vehicle. There are multiple online reports of this being fairly common on 2020/2021 Dodge Rams. The vehicle is being returned to the dealer, even if it is a minor issue it is a huge safety issue. I had zero control over the vehicle once the warning flashed. The abrupt loss of power and being thrown into a skid with no control is terrifying. Luckily there was no traffic. It is being returned and according to the dealership it will be investigated. Prior to that brief safety warning the truck had operated perfectly fine with no issues all day long with over 200miles logged for the day.

On September 14, 2021 I was leaving work, started truck and backed out of parking spot. I had drove off and upon making a left turn the truck went into a stall, screen flashed "place vehicle in park before starting" and then immediately came back on, I did not come to full stop or have to hit the "start" button. I continued driving and the issue has not happened since. The vehicle had over 1/2 tank of gas (89), temperature was in the 90's (Florida) and has no engine modifications. This was concerning for a new vehicle so I looked further into this and discovered that has been happening quite a bit with this particular version of this truck (eTorque). If the vehicle had fully stalled while pulling into traffic, it could be very dangerous. The most troubling aspect is that no engine code or warning light came on regarding the issue. I'm not sure how a late model vehicle with this amount of technology can almost stall and leave no details of what caused the problem and alert the driver.

This is a very serious and dangerous defect that Chrysler and its dealerships cant find or fox the issue. I leased a 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7 On july 23 2020 i was very happy with the truck for few months and all of a sudden inwas driving and the vehicle completely stalled just like somone has unplugged every power source and i was able to safely stop and the truck wont start again then after 15 minutes I started to see lights on rhe dash again and the vehicle was able to start. I then called my dealership scheduled a service appointment and on jan 25 2020 they confirmed there was an issue with radio hub frequency and it was fixed i was happy again drove for few months then started to happen again this time i almost crashed did the same thing scheduled an appointment took it there this time they said we cant see the problem theres no codes stored and we cant see whats the issue called Chrysler customer service they were not able to do anything for me had to take the truck and drive it and now it happened again and i was googling the issue seems like it's happening to a lot of customers this is very very dangerous and needs to be looked at thank you

THE FIRST 3, 4 TIMES THE DASH MESSAGE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT THE HOOD BEING OPENED (IT WASN'T). THE LAST COUPLE OF TIMES THE DASH MESSAGE SAYS SOMETHING LIKE ...SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO TAKE A PHOTO BECAUSE THE MESSAGES DISAPPEAR RATHER QUICKLY AND I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT RE-STARTING THE VEHICLE ASAP BECAUSE I'M STUCK IN TRAFFIC WITH CARS BEHIND ME. THE TRUCK RE-STARTS AS NORMAL AND I'M ON MY WAY. DOES SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES DOES NOT. WITH THIS MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS I'D HATE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT, PROBABLY THE AIR BAGS DON'T WORK. PERIODICALLY GO TO START VEHICLE AND IT'S DEAD. WHILE DRIVING MY 2020 RAM 1500 LARAMIE WITH ONLY 5K MILES ON THE ODOMETER, I STOPPED BEHIND A SCHOOL BUS. THE TRUCK'S START/STOP FEATURE ACTIVATED AS IT NORMALLY DOES AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I PRESSED THE DASHBOARD BUTTON TO DE-ACTIVATE THE START/STOP FEATURE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP. WHEN I DID THIS, A LOUD ELECTRICAL SPARK SOUND OCCURRED AND THE TRUCK COMPLETELY DIED IN THE ROADWAY. ALL POWER WAS LOST, I COULD NOT EVEN ACTIVATE THE HAZARD LIGHTS. THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR OF SOMETHING BURNING IN THE CABIN. NO SMOKE WAS VISIBLE, THOUGH. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED AND I AM AWAITING THEIR PHONE CALL WITH THAT INFO.

VEHICLE HAS CONSISTENT THROTTLE INPUT RESPONSE LAG. WHEN APPLYING THROTTLE FROM A STANDSTILL THERE IS A 1 TO 1.5 SECOND LAG BEFORE THE ENGINE REVS. THE SAME LAG OCCURS WHEN BUT CAN LAST UP TO 3 SECONDS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO INCREASE ACCELERATION FROM ANY GIVEN ROLLING SPEED. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AS IT MAKES THE SIMPLE AND FREQUENT CHALLENGE OF CROSSING AN INTERSECTION AND/OR OVERCOMING SLOWER TRAFFIC IMPOSSIBLY DIFFICULT TO ACCOMPLISH SAFELY AND WITHOUT DRAMA/STRESS. DELAYS IN RESPONSE CAUSE THE DRIVERS TO SECOND GUESS THEIR DECISIONS AND ACTIONS. I THINK IT'S AN ISSUE WITH INTERFERENCE WITH OTHER VEHICLE WIFI SYSTEMS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY INTERFERING WITH MY VEHICLE BUS CONTROL SYSTEMS. THIS IS A SPORADIC ISSUE AND ONLY HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC.

HAPPENED 4 SEPARATE TIME. HAD SHOP ON 3 OF THE 4 TIMES INDICATE A BAD BATTERY, ASB MODULES AND PCM MODULE. CURRENTLY THEY ARE TRYING TO IDENTIFY A BAD TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AS THE PROBLEM. TOTAL MILE 530 AND ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 50 DAYS. HAD TO BE TOWED TWICE TO THE SHOP AND THE OTHER TWO TIME IT HAPPENED WITH IN A MILE OF THE DEALER. IT SPEND ABOUT 20 DAYS IN THE SHOP ALREADY.

I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH WHILE STEERING POWER SHUT OFF AND WARNING ON DASH CAME ON SAYING POWER STEERING WAS DISENGAGED. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY SHUT VEHICLE OFF CHECKED UNDER HOOD AND NOTHING. GOT BACK ON VEHICLE STARTED IT AND WARNING HAD GONE AWAY AND STEERING WAS OK. DROVE FOR ABOUT 10 MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY. VEHICLE WAS IN SHOP FOR A DAY. THEY CALLED AND SAID PROBLEM WAS FIXED. I LEFT THE DEALER, DRIVE 40 MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK. AND NOW THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE. POWER STEERING GOES OFF RANDOMLY. VEHICLE CONTINUALLY HAS A DEAD, -DEAD- 0 VOLT BATTERY OVERNIGHT. STARTED ITS 1ST WEEK HOME AND HAS REPEATEDLY HAPPENED HALF A DOZEN TIMES RANDOMLY SINCE. FULLY CHARGING THE BATTERY TAKES ALL DAY. THE BATTERY HAS PROBABLY TAKEN PERMANENT DAMAGE. I HAVE TO CARRY A 1000 AMP JUMP BOX AT ALL TIMES TO HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. DRAINING A AGM 85 AHR BATTERY DEAD FLAT IN A FEW HOURS IA A MAJOR PROBLEM AND A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. LIGHT CONDITIONS WERE NIGHTTIME, TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT, WEATHER WAS CLEAR. ELECTRONIC FAILURE MESSAGES BEGAN TO APPEAR ON INSTRUMENTATION PANEL APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE: NAVIGATION, STOP/START, CLIMATE CONTROL, UCONNECT, SIRIUS RADIO, ADAPTIVE CRUISE ALL CEASED FUNCTION WITH NO DRIVER ABILITY TO CONTROL THESE SYSTEMS WELL PRIOR TO THE TOTAL SHUTDOWN. AT TOTAL SHUTDOWN, WITH THE VEHICLE STILL TRAVELING AT 70MPH, THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL EVENTS SIMULTANEOUSLY OCCURRED: 1.TOTAL FAILURE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING, 2.TOTAL FAILURE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER BRAKES, 3.TOTAL FAILURE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, AND HAZARD LIGHTS 4.TOTAL FAILURE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF ALL DASHBOARD AND U CONNECT INSTRUMENTATION, 5.TOTAL FAILURE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF ALL STEERING COLUMN AND DASHPANEL CONTROLS 6.TOTAL FAILURE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, 7.TOTAL FAILURE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF ELECTRONIC LANE ASSIST. 8.TOTAL FAILURE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE THIS ENDED WITH THE VEHICLE BEING SAFELY PULLED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY.
