My 2020 Ram 1500 exhaust manifold leak often causes a loud ticking noise, especially on startup, due to broken bolts or a cracked manifold.
Please see attachment:
The mgu/generator went out and left me stranded due to battery failure. I had no steering or power brakes. Everything electrical failed. Have been waiting for new mgu for 2 months.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The contact was unable to pull over to the side of the road. While the vehicle was still on the road, the contact shifted to park(P) and then back to drive(D), and the vehicle returned to normal functionality. However, the contact stated that the failure had occurred six times. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the gear knob independently shifted gears. The contact stated that the gear knob was in drive(D) and then independently shifted to park(P). It was unknown if any warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. Most recently, after reversing out of the driveway and then driving forward, the front passenger’s side mirror independently moved inwards. The failure obstructed the driver's visibility and prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and manually pulled the front passenger’s side mirror outward. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

Automatikgetriebe Schalthebel auf " P " verriegelt. Schalthebel kann man nicht aus der Parkposition lösen. Seit 16,08,2025 steht Auto in der Werkstatt.
My 2020 Ram 1500 etorque had a major breakdown. My husband was driving down the highway in a construction zone when he lost power steering, power brakes and then the vehicle totally shut down. He had to steer it to the side of the highway, barely making it. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership who ran diagnostics on it and told us the Mechanical Generator Unit (MGU) needed to be replaced. The major issue: the MGU could not be found anywhere in the US. They wasn't able to order / backorder from anywhere. They said it could take months or longer to get the part. We couldn't go indefinitely without our truck so the dealer recommended we trade it in. That was our only option so that was what we were forced to do. We did not want another vehicle!! Ours was paid off.
RAM has a bad design on MGU's, new ones and old ones are failing, whining, causing engine spudder and no movement at times. Can't purchase one because RAM has them on "Engineering HOLD". Therefore they no they have an issue, not offer a replacement. I have been advised if they become available I'm looking at $2,000 for an alternator. That is insane.
I am writing to report a serious and dangerous issue with my 2020 Ram 1500. The vehicle has been randomly shutting off while I am driving, often accompanied by a strange acceleration or revving sound just before the engine dies. This has occurred multiple times without warning, creating an extremely unsafe driving situation. The issue happens at random and cannot be easily reproduced on demand, which I understand may make it difficult to diagnose. However, it is important to emphasize that this is a major safety risk that could easily result in a crash or injury.
Have a whirring, whining noise and at my Feb 2025 service, was told it was the e-torque assembly bearing and it was loose. Part is on back order for months since this is a common issue and will cost over $1400 for part alone. Was told not covered under warranty but believe that the dealership is wrong BUT am reading it was recalled in the 2021 RAM 1500 but I am having same issue with my 2020 and I am reading I am not alone.
The motor generator has effected the ess (engine start stop) system and at a stop it does not restart the vehicle when you let off the brake. It startes and then jumps forward creating a safety hazard if there is a vehicle in front of you or a pedestrian in the crosswalk. This is a concern that seems to happen with this system frequently through web searches that I have seen. My truck is at a dealer now to diagnose the problem with the system.
This is the second time this has happened (03APR25). The first time this occurred, 20JUL25, I had to pay (Bill attached) to have the ABS Module replaced. Today several service lights came on not limited to: Service 4wd, 4wd Trans Case overheat, stabilization system, and the traction control light came on along with the 4wd High light and both the 4wd High and 4wd Low indicator lights were all flashing. When parked the emergency parking brake was automatically set. (break) I have all the documentation from the first occurrence and an additional recall notice (Attached) of which states contact the dealer, whom said that it was not their responsibility. Then I contacted Stellantis recall office, and they said they would get back with me and never have and today most all the sensor faults flashed on the display. The truck locked in 4 high up until I parked it.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the check engine warning light and power train warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the steering wheel was difficult to turn to the left or right, and while pulling off the roadway the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that there were several unknown warning lights illuminated while attempting to restart the vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the E-Torque Alternator had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part to repair the vehicle was on a national backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,553.

My 2020 Ram 1500 5.7L e-Torque started making a noise. I then received a "Battery" indicator Light, then received an "Engine" indicator light. I was losing voltage on my battery. The truck is now at the Dealership. The alternator has failed (87k miles). No one has the part. It's been on back order since November 2024. Online research indicates that over 3000 are on back order. I can't even place an order with Mopar (Genuine Ram Parts Supplier). I'm also told that the repair will be $2300 - seems like a lot for an alternator that you can't get that can be replace in about an hour.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving with the cruise control feature enabled at 70 MPH, the contact noticed a loud banging sound. The contact noticed in the rearview mirror that large parts were flying from underneath the rear of the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The contact stated that the vehicle independently rolled backward. The contact activated the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed drive shaft and damaged rear end. The contact was informed that the driveshaft and the rear of the vehicle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 62,400.
Mileage: 62,400
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after driving 35-45 MPH, the contact approached a stop sign, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart after pushing the Push-to-Start button. The traction control warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the key fob not recognized message was displayed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the failure was due to the relay module and PCM and referred the contact to the local dealer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the PCM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, opened a case, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Mileage: 80,000
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving on the highway at 15 MPH, the vehicle experienced a loss of automotive power and the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from 4th to 1st gear. The contact stated that the "Shift to Park, and then Start" message was displayed. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off and coasted to a stop. The contact parked the vehicle on the side of the highway to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
Mileage: 140,000
When slowing down for a stop the transmission will shift into neutral and a warning will pop up on display “shift to park then desired gear” this is happing on my 2020 ram and my sons 2019 ram but the dealer says there is no fix. I checked online and it looks like it’s happening a lot.
As with previous recall issued 66A for 1500 trucks from 2014-2019, my vehicle is with the dealer for the same known issue for the 2020 model 3.0 ecodiesel for repair of the tone wheel and crankshaft sensor failure. Tone wheel and crankshaft sensor failed while on highway presenting same know safety risk as previous truck models.
I noticed an oil leak under the truck a few weeks after getting the oil changed at the dealership. I took it back and had them investigate. They advised me I needed to replace the oil filter housing assembly, to the tune of $1,000. As I did research i found d this this is a widespread common problem and is known. Faulty design of a plastic part. For this to be such a common issue and poor design (that could cause catastrophic engone failure resulting in accidents or fires) and not to be recalled and or covered is insane. It's such a known issue that aftermarket parts makers have made a version that is all aluminum to prevent the issue. RAM should be paying for the repair, not me.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact that the vehicle was taken to the dealer due to an electrical failure. The contact stated that the 12-Volt battery had been replaced three times, and the taillight bulbs and front headlight low beam bulbs were replaced several times. The contact stated that when the vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer for the electrical failure, the contact was informed that the front differential seal had failed and was allowing water to leak into the differential, causing the differential to rust. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.
Mileage: 107,000
Brake warning lamp is on for low fluid but fluid is okay. Electronic stability control not functioning.
The truck has an issue with 3rd gear. It wants to jolt forward and if it doesn’t catch speed it goes into “limp” mode. It’s a safety feature where it goes as fast as 2nd gear needing service to Electronic throttle body, stop/start system, and electronic stability control.
Power Distribution Center/Relay box failure. Contacts in box melted for ASD Relay. Incident occurred while driving on the highway at 65mph. Vehicle without warning had power loss in accelerator, and started downshifting gears. Dash immediately said “park and restart required.” Attempting to start engine, vehicle would crank/no start. After several attempts, vehicle restarted and resumed normal driving until “park and restart required” happened again. After vehicle shut down multiple times on highway, I was able to make it home and diagnose problem. I checked the fuses and relays on the PDC and found ASD relay intact with no burn or scorch marks on contacts. However, the socket is missing contacts within the pdc. I reproduced said problem by moving the ASD relay with vehicle running. There are no warning lamps, messages, or codes to show any kind of failure.
Has just over 80,000 miles and the Ram dealer is telling me it need a new transmission. Code P0733000 3rd gear ratio issue. Will be driving it will hard shift into 3rd gear and then get stuck in 3rd until I stop and turn the truck on and off. When I do that it works fine. Check engine light comes on for a couple starts then goes off.
The contact's husband owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond when shifted into reverse(R). Additionally, the rearview camera was inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V301000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Mileage: 20,000
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 40-45 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond, jerked and stalled. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart, but sputtered. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle, and continued driving; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 40 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the turbocharger had failed. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the turbocharger and the harness were replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensor and the electronic throttle body had failed. An unknown repair was performed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the OCS sensor and the electronic throttle body were replaced. Additionally, there was water leaking inside the vehicle through the third brake light, and the dealer repaired the third brake light. The contact stated that the check engine warning light later illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was determined that the Ram air dam system had failed. The dealer cleared the codes; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 34,115.
I have a 2020 Dodge Ram that has 75,000 miles on it. It has already broke down requiring a new transmission ( Jan of 2023 at 61,349 miles) and on [XXX] at 83,000 miles I, again, broke down and found it to be a valve spring. I have inquired as to the frequency of these occurrences in other Rams and a was told neither one of these occurrences should have happened. I jumped the hoops of the warranty and have put out almost $1,000 for the warranty company to "inspect" the engine, valve spring & tranny items that I should not have had to deal with in the first place. At first, the warranty company was willing to discuss possible retribution of some sort given the rarity of the break downs that occurred. I had a caseworker and now I cannot get anyone on the phone to even discuss this with any longer. Always being told "In a meeting", "Not available". With my last call being today and told SOMEONE was going to call. I have received emails noting "it is being investigated" and also told someone would reach out. NOW I have developed anxiety over this truck as, I travel. I'm terrified that I will be stuck in the middle of no where in the middle of the night. Both occurrences happened at night while alone! I am a [XXX]! Perhaps that's why ? I have been without a vehicle since that time and even the auto repair place had a very hard time in getting warranty company to pay. Truck is home now but now Im afraid to drive it anywhere. This was my dream truck and Im heartbroken at the total disrespect that has occurred for my safety and for anyone else who has had to go through this - I do have invoices but it wouldn't let me download them. I can send them via email. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Issues with the ABS system and also showing many defects with controller causing problems in the CV axle which had to be replaced as well
While traveling down C470 Eastbound my truck experienced some type of mechanical failure. While on the corner above the bridge for Wadsworth Avenue I felt a sudden loss of control with the truck pulling to the right side of the highway. I immediately took action to pull the truck off the highway while also wrestling for control of the steering to keep the truck from running into the barrier and off the bridge. I was able to bring the truck to a stop just following the bridge (About 100ft). Upon inspection I found the right front tire had folded under itself. It seemed that the upper control arm on the vehicle snapped, pulling out the drive shaft in the process and damaging items like the steering linkage, brakes, tire, brakeline, etc. Dealership diagnosis was: Found right front upper ball joint separated causing excessive damage to the front end components. Only additional work that has been done to the truck was by MOPAR with their 2 inch lift kit, certified by Fiat Chrysler and Mopar for this specific truck. Kit number 77072424 SUSP KIT-LIFT. Dealership did inspection of vehicle 2 days prior to incident with no issues found. I was not able to attach pictures and PDFs to this form
Frequent and expensive starter failure and replacement rate for Hemi V8 equipped trucks.
Transfer case has failed per dealer inspection and diagnostics. Several lights turned on. Burning smell in/outside of vehicle. Vehicle will jerk from time to time. Parts are apparently on back order for several weeks and I have been told the vehicle is drivable even though transfer case issues / failures can be a serious safety issue.
When accelerating and turning full left or right grinding sounds can be heard coming from the rear differential. It sounds like the gears in the rear differential are binding up. Per dealer a full differential rebuild is required.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon a cold start of the vehicle, the vehicle stalled while depressing the accelerator pedal. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle intermittently stalled while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that the shift to park message was flashing on the instrument panel during the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure, but the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
Mileage: 35,000
After pulling out of a parking lot, I was accelerating, probably between 30-40mph, and the transmission suddenly slipped into neutral. I had just merged into traffic and because of this defect in the transmission, my truck was sharply slowing down with several other vehicles behind and beside me. Thankfully I drove a manual transmission for years so I knew what was happening. I physically turned the gear selector to neutral and right back to drive and I was able to regain control. However, in that time, my speed probably decreased about 10mph. Had I been on a highway or in front of an inattentive driver, a serious accident could have occurred. After doing some research, I see this has happened to several other people with the same vehicle. I will definitely be taking my truck in this week. It’s still under warranty with about 23k miles.
My vehicle is a 2020 Ram/1500 BIG HORN/LONESTAR (with 5.7L HEMI - V8) My VIN is - [XXX] The Engine system failed/malfunctioned while driving on the highway. (It is currently available for inspection upon request.) I will however be taking the vehicle in for an engine rebuild and reinstall on or around May 30th, 2023. My safety and the safety of others was put great risk when my engine sputtered and vehicle rapidly slowed down on the freeway, during rush hour traffic; nearly causing rear end collision. Check Engine warning lamp came on and started flashing at the time of the failure, this was first time it happened. My vehicle was diagnosed from a mechanic/technician at Milosch's Palace Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Lake Orion, Michigan. The technician said that the engine failed due to issue with Cylinder #7 and will need to be replaced - at a cost of nearly $11,000. I did find a licensed repair facility that will do a complete engine removal, overhaul and rebuild including a 24 Month Warranty. According to the gentleman at the repair facility, this is a common issue, and they are on working rotation, repairing 12-15 HEMI Engines at any time due to this common failure. 5.7L HEMI Valve Train issues have been documented over and over; this is a known issue for many years. There have been several cases where HEMI engine owners have filed lawsuits against automobile manufacturer, alleging defects or performance issues with their engines. In some cases, these lawsuits have been successful in securing damages for the owners. I could provide you with some general examples. I have a 2020 RAM 1500 truck with 35,000 and one of the two bolts holding the exhaust together has corroded complete off and the second is heavily corroded. The flange where these bolts have corroded holds the complete front section and back section on the exhaust together so if this second bolt fails, the complete exhaust will separate in the center and be extremely dangerous if this happen while the vehicle is being driven. I also have friends who had had the same issue with their RAM 1500 Hemi trucks and see multiple posts on line complaining about this same issue.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his uncle was driving at 70 MPH, the transmission inadvertently shifted from drive(D) to park(P). No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
Mileage: 113,000
This occurred twice under normal operating conditions. Started to proceed when light turned green RPMs went to 6000 and the gas pedal became mush no power, had to put truck back in neutral and then drive. That fixed the problem. This also occurred why driving on highway at 70MPH,applied gas and the RPMS went to 6000 pedal became mush basically lost power then put in neutral then drive again and the problem was fixed.
After driving in a few inches of wet snow for about 20 minutes enough snow built up around the transmission that when I went to shift it into park it failed to do so. The dash displayed that there was an error with the transmission and it was unable to determine what gear I was in. The truck was not able to fully turn off and was stuck in accessory mode as a result. After changing gears multiple times with no luck I was finally able to shift it to drive and get moving again. I then proceeded to get it scheduled by the local dealership in my area to see if they could figure out what the problem was. after inspecting it they informed me that there was snow buildup on my transmission that caused the park/neutral switch to get stuck/not work. They removed the snow and said that everything was operating normally, but informed me that it was a self-inflicted issue and not a fault of the design or manufacturer. The issue has been temporally resolved by removing the snow, but there seemed to be no permeant fix for the issue.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and idling, the vehicle inadvertently rolled forward without warning. The vehicle rolled forward and pinned his brother to the front driver’s side box located at the opening of the garage door. Medical attention was required. The contact’s brother was later declared deceased. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer nor the dealer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the transmission erroneously shifted to the park(P) causing the vehicle to abruptly stop and independently turn off in the middle of the road. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normal; however, later the failure recurred with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was contacted and a service appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 47,767.

DURING WARM WEATHER AFTER COMING TO A STOP, THEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE GAS PEDAL IS COMPLETELY DEAD. NO AMOUNT OF PRESSURE OR PUMPING OF THE PEDAL HAS ANY AFFECT. THE VEHICLE MOVES FORWARD AT IDLE BUT NO OTHER ACCELERATION. AFTER 5-10 SECONDS, THE ACCELERATING COMES ON 100%. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE IDLE ALLOWS THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD INTO TRAFFIC BUT STANDS YOU WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEARING DOWN WITH NO IDEA THAT YOU CANNOT MOVE!

HOT SMELL IN CABIN WHEN USING 4X4 MODE NAVIGATION SYSTEM IS NOT ACCURATE, SHOWS ME ON ROADS I'M NOT. SPEED SIGN RECOGNITION EITHER DOES NOT WORK OR IS VERY INACCURATE. TRAFFIC JAM UPDATES NEVER HAPPEN. LANE KEEPING SYSTEM DISPLAYS MESSAGE TO PLACE HANDS ON WHEEL. THEN TURN OFF. MY HANDS ARE ON THE WHEEL, IT STILL DEACTIVATES ITSELF. VEHICLE EMITS A STRONG VIBRATION IN 1800-2000 RPM AT EVERY GEAR AND SPEED WHEN THE ENGINE IS UNDER LOAD. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT VIBRATE AT THIS RPM RANGE IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. VEHICLE EMITS VIBRATION THROUGH DRIVER STEERING WHEEL, GAS PEDAL, FLOOR, AND SEAT. VIBRATION ALSO FELT IN PASSENGER FLOOR. VIBRATION CAUSES BOOMING, SOUNDS IN THE CABIN THAT ARE UNCOMFORTABLE. VIBRATION IS INCREASED WHEN IN 4WD AUTO VS 2WD AND 4WD HIGH. VIBRATION IS AT IT'S LOUDEST AT CRUISING SPEEDS ON HIGHWAY WHEN IN THE AFFECTED RPM RANGE. FCA IS UNWILLING TO ADDRESS THE VIBRATIONS OF THE VEHICLE AND REFUSES TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR. VEHICLE IS DESCRIBED AS "OPERATING AS DESIGNED" AND THIS IS A "CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE" FROM FCA CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES AND TECHNICIANS/ENGINEERS. VIBRATIONS CAUSING HEADACHES AND NAUSEA DUE TO GENERAL DISCOMFORT OF THE CABIN VIBRATION. ISSUE DID NOT EXIST UPON PURCHASE OF VEHICLE, BUT RATHER DEVELOPED AFTER ROUGHLY 2000 MILES.

THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DELAY IN THROTTLE RESPONSE ON THE 1500 ECO-DIESEL. THERE ARE NUMEROUS SITUATIONS AND SCENARIOS WHERE YOU PUSH THE THROTTLE DOWN AND THE CAR DELAYS FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE INCREASES POWER. I COULD BE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES I ACCELERATE NORMAL AND SOMETIMES WHEN I PUSH THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR DELAYS AND I AM STUCK WITHOUT ANY ACCELERATION FOR A FEW SECONDS. YOU COULD ATTEMPT TO SPEED UP TO PASS ON THE HIGHWAY SOMETIMES AND AGAIN SOMETIMES IT DOES ACCELERATE AND SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL.
Mileage: 22,000
FREQUENTLY, WHEN SLOWING OR COASTING SUCH AS WHEN MAKING A TURN OR COASTING PRIOR TO A STOP - WHEN IT IS NECESSARY TO RESUME ACCELERATION THEIR OCCURS A DELAY OF 2-3 SECONDS WHERE THE DRIVE TRAIN DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO RESPOND. WHEN IT FINALLY DOES IT GOES INTO GEAR ABRUPTLY FOLLOWED BY THE LATE RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR POWER FROM THE PEDAL INPUT. IN PARTICULAR THIS PRESENTED A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN I WAS IN A CENTER TURN LANE GETTING READY FOR A LEFT TURN OFF A TWO LANE HWY. WHEN THERE WAS A SUFFICIENT GAP TO MAKE THE TURN THE DELAY CAUSED A FEW HEART PALPITATIONS WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. I WAS TOWING AN ATV TRAILER AT THE TIME AND WANTED TO SPEED MY ENTRY TO THE SIDE ROAD I WAS TURNING ONTO. THIS FAULT HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES NOW AND IS PRETTY REGULAR. AS AN ENGINEER I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SOFTWARE ISSUE. NO UPDATES ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.

VEHICLE HAS CONSISTENT THROTTLE INPUT RESPONSE LAG. WHEN APPLYING THROTTLE FROM A STANDSTILL THERE IS A 1 TO 1.5 SECOND LAG BEFORE THE ENGINE REVS. THE SAME LAG OCCURS WHEN BUT CAN LAST UP TO 3 SECONDS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO INCREASE ACCELERATION FROM ANY GIVEN ROLLING SPEED. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AS IT MAKES THE SIMPLE AND FREQUENT CHALLENGE OF CROSSING AN INTERSECTION AND/OR OVERCOMING SLOWER TRAFFIC IMPOSSIBLY DIFFICULT TO ACCOMPLISH SAFELY AND WITHOUT DRAMA/STRESS. DELAYS IN RESPONSE CAUSE THE DRIVERS TO SECOND GUESS THEIR DECISIONS AND ACTIONS. THE RESULT WILL EITHER BE TO LIFT OFF OF THE THROTTLE (AT WHICH POINT THE VEHICLE MAY DECIDE TO ACCELERATE PARTIALLY) OR TO TAKE THEIR EYES OFF OF THE ROAD/TRAFFIC AND CHECK THE INSTRUMENT PANEL (AT WHICH POINT THE VEHICLE MAY THEN DECIDE TO ACCELERATE). IF THERE IS ONCOMING TRAFFIC, PEDESTRIANS OR OTHER OBSTACLES, THIS CAN RESULT IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT, INJURY AND/OR DEATH.
Mileage: 966
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN THE PAST WEEK, THE THROTTLE PEDAL IN THIS GEN 3 ECODIESEL ENGINE HAS FAILED TO RESPOND UPON PRESSING IT TO MAKE A TURN AFTER DRIVING THE TRUCK FOR A FEW MINUTES. I WILL DRIVE A FEW MILES, THEN STOP IN A TURNING LANE AWAITING A CHANCE TO COMPLETE THE LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC, AND WHEN I APPLY PRESSURE TO THE THROTTLE PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENS. IT'S AS IF THE PEDAL HAS BEEN UNPLUGGED. AS I CONTINUE TO HOLD PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL, SEVERAL SECONDS WILL GO BY AND THEN IMMEDIATELY THERE WILL BE A HARSH JERK AND THE TRUCK WILL IMMEDIATELY APPLY POWER. THIS IS A SEPARATE ISSUE FROM THE TERRIBLE LAG IN THROTTLE RESPONSE THAT HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE THE TRUCK WAS BRAND NEW. THIS LOSS OF ALL PEDAL RESPONSE ONLY BEGAN TO HAPPEN THIS PAST WEEK, WITH APPROXIMATELY 3,800 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. *TR

WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHT WHEN I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE MAKING A LEFT TURN THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. THIS IS DANGEROUS SHOULD YOU NEED TO QUICKLY MOVE CAR OUT OF WAY. CAR WENT UP TO 5000 RPM BEFORE I RELEASE THE GAS AND PROCEEDED TO SIDE OF ROAD. DEALER COULDN'T DUPLICATE, I ASKED THEM TO FLASH THE COMPUTER AND THEY REFUSED, SAYING ANY UPDATES WOULD BE OVER THE AIR. WHICH IS NOT TRUE. TRUCK IS SUPPOSED TO BE EQUIPPED WITH TAILGATE AJAR WARNING LIGHT, IT IS IN MANUAL AND ON MY BUILD SHEET. DEALER TELLS ME THAT ITS NOT. SO THERE NOT PUTTING IN THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT. THIS IS DANGEROUS SINCE I HAD 2017 RAM THAT TAILGATE OPENED WHILE DRIVING BEFORE RECALL!! *TR

THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN DRIVING THE RAM, WITH THE GEAR IN DRIVE AND IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR DRIVING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THE DODGE RAM AND SHOULD BE FIXED OR RECALLED. SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE 2019 DODGE RAM: HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T77803_DS971922
