Engine stalled while driving at low speeds told me shift into park with no warning lights or messages at all. Got it started again and then stalled out again while I was trying to accelerate. I pulled over and it wouldn’t start right away but eventually I was able to get it started back up to drive it home. Could it be a software issue in the PCM
I am in need of assistance with my most recent purchase of a 2025 Ram Truck with less than 3000 miles of utilization. After driving the vehicle for 45 minutes something didn’t seem right with the transmission. A multitude of error messages popped up on the cluster and the truck ended up in “limp mode” meaning it would not move. The Engine light comes on intermittently and I have legitimate concerns about the reliability and drive-ability of the brand new vehicle. When operating the vehicle in Round-abouts the vehicle looses the ability to accelerate and seems to lose propulsion which is a valid safety concern as well. The vehicle was returned to the Dealer for service and they have not addressed the issue only stating Chrysler Engineering has not yet determined corrective actions.
RAM does over the air software updates. An update they did early summer 2025 was likely for the RAM RHO and not the TRX. A lot of features changed to RHO graphics and the U Connect 5 system became unstable and would not load properly. While in this state, the ability to select vehicle functions was not possible. (Radio, suspension selections and modes, air conditioning etc.) Attempting a reset proves unsuccessful and the only way to get the system to reset is to turn the vehicle off for a period of time or disconnect the battery for a time. This makes the system work for a while until it decides to be unstable and not load properly again. It does this at inopportune times and is very annoying, and I feel makes the vehicle unsafe. The sad thing is the vehicle was working nicely before this OTA update and RAM seems extremely slow to acknowledge the issue. Almost all of the graphics now show RHO instead of TRX and one wonders what this has done to the performance of the vehicle since they have different power trains.
My 2022 Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting both Uconnect 5 (12” screen) and earlier Uconnect 4 units. These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates. The primary defect is black-screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information. Owners across multiple years consistently report: • Black screens, freezes, and reboots • Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions • Backup camera not displaying • Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open • Uconnect error messages • Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures • No option to decline or roll back OTA updates These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion. My vehicle experiences the same issues, including black screen while driving, loss of HVAC, camera not available, system rebooting, etc. Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 4 and Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures.
2022 Ram 1500 5.7L eTorque Stalling mild-hybrid HEMI would shut off unexpectedly while traveling at low speeds, prompting the vehicle to shift into park and engage the emergency brake. intermittent ability to restart. the battery fault symbol lighting up.
I would prefer that the vehicle be bought by RAM due to the unsafe issues ie . (the vehicle stopped at a all of the sudden while driving ,the emergency brake activated while driving, the transmission gave out and would not accelerate while driving on the highway, my wife and I could have been killed.
At approximately 66k and even thousands of miles before this the rear axle bearings failed and needed to be replaced. This is much sooner than a component like this should fail and oddly just outside of the warranty period. Although no safety incident happened, it very well could have locked up the rear axle putting myself and others in danger.
The pinion and carrier bearings failed on a less than 3 year old truck with 66k miles. This is way to early for this type of repair and was just out of warranty. This could have caused the truck to lock up while driving possibly injuring myself and other drivers. The noise caused from this was heard months before but was believed to be tire related.
Truck slows down and eventually loses power in middle of driving. All electrical goes out- have to wait, turn off and turn on again. Also, Scan found POAEE-00 & POBD4-00 check engine light on at 60,100
Complaint Summary My 2022 Ram 1500 has a recurring safety issue where the engine shuts off unexpectedly after coming to a complete stop and then attempting to accelerate. This typically occurs at stop signs. When it happens, the dashboard flashes warnings, the emergency brake sometimes engages, and the truck prompts me to “apply brake and push start button.” I’ve nearly been rear-ended due to the sudden loss of power. Safety Concerns This issue poses a serious safety risk. The truck stalls in traffic, leaving me vulnerable to collisions. The unpredictability of the failure makes it difficult to drive with confidence, especially when transporting my family. Request for Action I urge NHTSA to investigate this issue further and work with Stellantis (Ram’s parent company) to identify the root cause and issue a recall or software fix. Owners deserve a safe and reliable vehicle, and this defect undermines that trust.
Bucking during braking specifically when downshifting between 2nd and 1st gear. The dealer was able to replicate and confirmed by the dealer and manufacturer to have an issue. Numerous repairs with the vehicle remaining with the dealer from May 2025-August 2025. No resolution was found dealer stated "it was under further investigation by the manufacturer you must collect your vehicle". All paperwork attached starting May14, 2025 after issues arose.
While driving my vehicle broke down in the middle of the road and locked up the engine because of the etorque generator. I was blocking traffic and had to be assisted by police and then towed. This is the second time this component has failed in 14 months. Both times leaving me stranded. I am now being told it could be weeks or months before the dealer can get my part. The etorque also caused the starter to lock up and it also now must be replaced. The vehicle broke down right after I got off the interstate 2 minutes earlier and I would of been on I-20 with vehicles traveling 70 mph. Someone is going to get hurt or killed because of this part.
2022 Ram eTorque, while slowing to a stop to turn engine stalls followed by an automatic emergency brake applied. Engine must be restarted, placed in park and brake released. In the last year it has occured 15 to 20 times. My wife refuses to drive this truck considering it to be too dangerous.
While driving the truck dashboard threw every light on, headlights went out, the truck shifted to first gear and would not shift back to higher gear, power steering went out as well. Received several trigger messages on the dashboard and was thankfully able to pull over safely. Placed the truck into park and the. Wasn’t able to place back in gear. This is the second time it has happened to me and Ram can’t figure out the cause or just doesn’t care. When researching there have been numerous other reports of this happening and Ram continues to shrug their shoulders making it the consumers problem. Second time I’m without a car and this time the dealer is claiming it will take nearly a week to even look at it while Ram says until Diagnostics there is no rental car coverage for the consumer. Had to have my truck towed after stranding me and my two kids on side of the road. Tow truck driver said he towed another 2022 Laramie just like mine last week and and that was his fourth time having the issue. He seemed to think it’s a sensor above the back window. This needs to be properly researched before someone is seriously injured as it happens at no particular reason.
Transmission registers hot and slips doesn’t want to drive in gear mode. Have to stop in areas to cool down the engine.
This truck has shut down on me, put itself into park and set the ebrake numerous times. Twice it restarted right away, one time it died and would not restart because the battery was completely discharged. It have been in service 3 times, the 1st time no faults were found, the truck was in the shop for 2 months. The second time the vehicle was in the shop for 2 or 3 months and the etorque was replaced. Currently the vehicle is in the shop, the dealership said the truck started right up with no faults found, the shop is trying to find the fault.
When you step on the accelerator while driving and then release it completely, the power will suddenly disappear completely and you will feel a jerk!
Purchased the vehicle(2022 Ram 1500 BigHorn w/ 5.7 HEMI Etorque) 7/26/25 from Kenny Ross Ford with 26,600 miles on it. Noticed a whining noise at lower speeds and idle. Thinking it was a pulley bearing, made repair appointment. By 7/28/25 the whining had turned to grinding. Dashboard lit up with warning lights, truck went into limp mode and eventually completely died in middle of road on way back to dealer. I am told it is the MGU and the wait time on backorder is extensive. They havent been able to give me an exact time yet of when the part will be available.
Issues Defrosting windshield. A lot of fog and moisture on windshield when AC is running in car. Issues with rough shifting when accelerating. Will take longer to shift into next gear.
Motor Generator Unit Failure
On [XXX], shortly after [XXX], I was driving between 25–30 mph on a public road in California, my 2022 RAM 1500 with a 5.7L HEMI eTorque engine, stalled without warning. The vehicle automatically engaged the parking brake and shifted to park, causing an abrupt stop. A dashboard message appeared making me aware of the parking brake engagement. Another vehicle was closely following, creating a high risk of a rear-end collision. I have been driving as a Stuntwoman in films and television shows for over a decade and this genuinely scared me. I have never experienced anything like it in my life. The vehicle hesitated before restarting, and the check engine light (MIL) illuminated immediately. The battery light came on intermittently while driving home. The check engine light remains on as of May 11, 2025. Diagnostic codes read on May 11, 2025, show P1C64 (Stored, Pending, Permanent). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, however, I will be bringing my truck back to the dealership that I purchased it from for repair. The sudden stalling and braking in traffic posed a significant safety risk, nearly resulting in a collision due to the inability to control the vehicle or warn other drivers. The problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, as no repair attempts have been made and the car has not moved from my driveway. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms; the stalling occurred suddenly. The P1C64 code, confirmed after the incident, aligns with NHTSA complaints and investigation PE24018 (July 19, 2024) into stalling and low voltage issues in 2022 RAM 1500 eTorque vehicles. Uncommanded engine shutoff while rolling out at slow speed into an intersection from a complete stop. The shifter automatically was placed in park and the parking brake was automatically engaged. I restarted the truck, disengaged the parking brake and drove away.
>> RAM eTorque 5.7L V8 motor stopped and emergency brake activated without warning. >> I was driving on [XXX] (*5 lanes of traffic*) in Phoenix AZ just after rush hour. The sudden deceleration of the vehicle put my wife, son, and me at extreme risk of being struck from behind by one or more vehicles traveling in excess of 65 miles per hour. >> There are multiple reports of this failure in this model of RAM truck/engine dating back to 2021. >> NHTSA opened PE24-018 to collect and analyze detailed information regarding possible causes for this issue (ref. attached letter from NHTSA in September 2024). >> There were no warning or error indicators visible on the driver dashboard/console displays. The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving up an incline the failure worsened, and the driveshaft was hesitant. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that there was a failure with the driveshaft causing the hesitation. The contact was informed that there was no fix for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,200.

On more than five occasions, the engine shut off without warning and the emergency brake and battery light came on. All instances occurred when I was slowing down at a stop sign or attempting to turn. I have taken my truck to at least 3 differend dealerships regarding the issues. The Horne dealership in Show Low, AZ, connected a code reader and stated it could be the eco battery system and if I drove the truck more it would most likely recharge on its own. They further stated it was a low etorque battery system malfunction. No paperwork was initiated. The Jim Marsh dealership in Las Vegas, stated they knew what the probem was and it would be 10 days to get the part in to make the repair. They gave me a rental car under my Mopar warranty and sent me on my way as I was out of state. The next day they called me and stated it was fixed and put in a new standard battery (which I paid for) and not the etorque battery. One month later the same thing occurred. The engine shut off again without warning. I'm in the process of taking it back to my local dealership.
On two separate occasions the engine shut off at low speeds and the emergency brake engaged. On both occasions there was no warning of any kind. The car restarted and ran fine until shortly after the first two instances a "low voltage" light illuminated prompting me to research and learn that the shut off problem is well known. I took it to the dealer who confirmed the issue and assured me it was fixed with a software update. Two weeks after the "repair" I was driving at highway speeds and the "low voltage" light illuminated and the car shut off and the emergency brake engaged. After I managed to get off the road it would not restart. It was towed to the dealership who kept it for 2 1/2 months. This time they replaced the MGU. I picked it up and less than a week later the "check engine" light illuminated. I returned it to the dealership who confirmed it's the same issue. To date the manufacturer is unwilling to acknowledge the problem or help. I was informed today that it was "fixed" (this time "battery pack") but I'm afraid to drive it after my life was placed in danger after two "fixes". It has been in their possession for over 3 months and it would be illogical to believe they understand the root cause and that the issue is truly fixed. I will not drive it until I'm assured it is safe as I don't want to put myself or other lives in danger. They appear to be guessing at the cause and at best replacing parts with the same flawed parts into the same flawed design and are unwilling to accept responsibility. This vehicle is dangerous.
Wipers come on for now reason, no rain and not activated by driver. Interior screen goes black sometimes when backing up. After stopping for a traffic light then taking off, the transmission shifts to neutral. The only way to reengage the transmission is to come to a complete stop, put it in park and then back into drive. I have been to the dealer many times and they say unless it happens while in their care, there is nothing they can do. No codes come up. I gave them the day and time it last happened, thinking it must be stored in the computer and they would be able to track it down. Nope. This is a very dangerous problem. The truck also ran out of fuel when the gauge read 19 miles to go. I took it to the dealer and told them it must be a sensor, sender or gauge....says this is normal. Well that is not normal, if you ask me.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Gauge cluster doesn't shut off, which kills the electrical system. This is likely due to a known issue from FCA as noted in Customer Satisfaction Notification 48A. FCA claims my truck is not affected even though it has the same Electronic Shifter Module, as well as is the same Model, Trim, Year... Just not the right VIN. The fix is a software update. They know the software in my truck is faulty, but won't update it in compliance with 48A. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Truck leaves me stranded if left not running for too long. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, I can reproduce it myself reliably... I have an appointment with the Ram dealer on 3/14/25. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. I purchased the Truck [XXX]... the issues started within a few weeks. It has killed the battery 3 times now. Here is the existing notice 48A... My truck SHOULD BE ON THIS LIST! PLEASE HELP! on 2 separate occasions, I experienced a low speed stall when pulling out and turning at intersections. After the stall, the vehicle placed itself in park and activated the emergency brake. In both instances, the stall occurred after I had partially entered an intersection, representing a safety hazard. In both instances, the vehicle was able to be restarted quickly.
Engine shut off unexpectedly while moving at a slow speed, while making a turn. The vehicle shifted into park and applied the emergency brake automatically.
The complaints describe instances where the engine shuts off unexpectedly, often while the vehicle is moving at a slow speed. Sometimes, the vehicle shifts into park and applies the emergency brake automatically. Additionally, the vehicles sometimes cannot be restarted, and drivers have reported seeing a malfunction warning light with a battery fault symbol on the dashboard. This i found on the internet bud is only mentioned to happen with the v8 hemi etorgue and it is under investigation or something like that. Well, i got the 3.6 V6 engine also with etorque, and i got thid stalling issue 2 times a week now. I dont feel save because what if this happens at a railway crossing? It takes me like 5-10 seconds to put the car in P and taking off the electrical parkingbrake, push the starterbutton and putting the car in D! Please help me on this one.
Engine will stall and autoshift in to park and apply emergency parking brake. Happens when trying to accelerate away from a stop. Very dangerous when trying to pull out into traffic. No warning lights or messages on dash.
1/21/24 was at a stop light. vehicle was idling. tried to accelerate. vehicle cut off, ebrake was applied electronically, check engine light came on and remains on.
The truck repeatedly while turning a corner. Will stall and engage the barking brake. The engine will not always start up immediately following the stall. If the engine does start, you can disengage the parking brake and continue on. However, the battery light will come on as well as an engine light. If you do not pull over and completely shut the vehicle down. While, the battery light is on. Then eventually, what will happen Is it will drain the battery And the truck will just stall and not run at all. The vehicle has been in to the dealership. Multiple times they are unable to recreate the issue. I have brought the vehicle in muliple times. With out and With all of the lights on and we have proven that once you shut down the truck down and restart it, all codes will delete themselves from the memory. The scariest episode, where the truck stalled, was where I was turning left off a major highway and the vehicle stalled across 2 lanes of traffic and would not start. I know that this is an ongoing issue west. D type of engine that I have, and it happens to these truck years 2019-2022. If you call FCA Canada, they will say they're not aware. However, I've been dealing with this problem since I purchased the truck. The first stall happened two weeks after I bought it. There is also a section on the Dodge forum. For this exact issue and multiple complaints in the better business bureau for this issue.
I was stopped at a red light and the auto start/stop shut off my engine normally. When the light changed to green, I took my foot off the brake and the engine would not re-start. The transmission shifted to Neutral and the electric parking brake engaged. I had to shift the transmission to Park, and press the start button to re-start the engine.
When accelerating from being stopped at a stop light the vehicle spontaneously shut off and the emergency brake engaged. I was able to restart the vehicle and disengage the brake and drive. Check engine light came on, the start / stop function is disabled and the remote start is disabled. Vehicle is giving engine code P1C64 with the check engine light one.
I was making a left turn and the vehicle abruptly stopped blocking both lanes of an arterial highway. The emergency brake came on . The vehicle would not shift into neutral so I couldn’t move it off the road. The vehicle was towed in. Had this happened on the expressway or at higher speed both my family and I could have been badly hurt.
Vehicle stopped at stop light when start/stop system activated. When acceleration attempted, turning right, vehicle stalled, activated the parking brake and displayed a battery warning. Restarted vehicle and showed a low voltage condition for the battery. Pulled over and turned off the truck and restarted which cleared the issue and voltage returned to normal. This is the third stall over 66k miles, the first with a new battery, which doesn’t seem to be the problem.
the truck was at a stoplight and the auto start/stop system shuts off the engine to conserve fuel. The engine will not turn back on. the truck autoshift corrects the transmission to park. The shifter then can not be used. the truck has to be restarted. The restart can happen on the first try or the third. After the restart the engine is running rough and bucking and the acceleration is not consistent for a about 5 minutes. This problem has happened on at least 5 different occasions. the first in April 2022 with 4410 miles, 2nd March of 2023 with 22085, 3rd November 2023. After each of the first three incidents the truck was brought to the dealer and they were unable to replicate the problem. No error codes registered even thought a got a powertrain alert in the app that I pay for. The fourth time was sometime in the spring of 2024 and the last one was Dec 13th 2024. The truck has not been brought to the dealer after the last two problems. What is the sense when they can't find anything wrong.
At a stoplight waiting for best turn available, truck tells me to shutoff vehicle and restart. THe e-brake was engaged so I was sitting in middle of intersection while event occured. Could not proceed or disnegage ebrake until after shifting truck into park, restart the vehicle and then disengage ebrake.
While towing, the cluster presented "Service Electronic Throttle" warning, lost the ability to accelerate (limp mode), and also lost electronic skid control. Code P00AF was stored. The turbocharger is now being replaced. This is a serious safety issue that is being reported by hundreds of owners of FCA products with this engine across their brands. The same repair is being applied regardless if it is Ram or Jeep, replacing the turbocharger. There is clearly a safety issue and it seems that nobody is doing anything about this widespread safety issue. It is far from isolated and someone will inevitably become seriously injured as a result of this no known flaw if it remains unaddressed by the NHTSA and FCA.
I keep getting a check engine light because of voltage issues related to the etorque system. Also receive a battery icon and volt gauge shows 11v. The code says everything from overcharge to under charge and all kinds of electrical codes. I have been to dealer multiple times. At first they did nothing but last visit they did a control module software update. Code did not appear for a few weeks and last weekend it came back.
While coming to a stop, the vehicle shutdown on its own and caused the auto parking break to enable. This caused a disruption in surrounding traffic. There were no warning lights or other indicators either before or after the incident.
On three separate occasions (so far), our 2022 RAM 1500, with 23,768 miles on it, has stalled, and completely shut down all driving function while in forward motion. 1. While pulling out from the grocery store parking lot onto a main town road while trying to accelerate from 5-25mph. (May 2024) 2. After restarting the truck, and driving forward a couple feet, it happened again. (May 2024) 3. While driving 60mph down the parkway, and decelerating/downshifting to prepare to take the exit. (October 2024) All three times, there were absolutely no warning signs or lights that came on before, during, or after this happened. The engine remained running, but felt as though it was in neutral. The truck would not shift back into drive, regardless of us changing the gear shift, and had to be completely powered down, and powered back on.....in the middle of the road. In both May and October, the truck had been brought to the dealer, and they were not able to recreate the issue, nor were any codes or problems detected. Thus, we have had to leave the dealer, each time, in an unpredictable and unsafe vehicle. We are lucky that the incidents of this happening in April were at an intersection with stoplights, preventing traffic perpendicular to us, from T-boning us as we were stuck in the middle of the road. We were also lucky that the incident in October happened while there was nobody traveling close behind us. Any of these incidents could have caused a major accident. Not only would this involve us, but anyone else around us. This truck, I repeat, is UNPREDICTABLE and UNSAFE, and RAM can't seem to figure out what to do about it since there are no codes, or ability to recreate it. Each time we get in the truck, we gamble our safety and our lives because nothing has been done to resolve this issue.
Problems started about a year after I built/purchased the vehicle. I started to experience stalling and hesitation when accelerating. At slower speeds, the truck shuts off, occasionally and the brakes lock up. This almost caused a major incident twice, due to vehicles following me and the abrupt stops in traffic. This could have caused a major accident and loss of life/lives. This has been going on for several months. They can't seem to duplicate the problem, even though, on 3 occasions, they did software updates and once, replaced the fuel pump. The vehicle is still under warranty but approaching the end of warranty period in about a year. I have taken the vehicle to Dodge on 8 occasions and they say it can't be duplicated. I filed an arbitration hearing for them to repurchase or replace, but was denied. I recently read in a news article that there is a preliminary investigation for the exact same thing that is happening to my vehicle, which involves over 150,000 vehicles in the 2022 Ram and Jeep Wagoneers by the NHTSA. The vehicle is very dangerous to drive and I fear that a major accident is imminent. Customer care says that because they can't find anything wrong with the vehicle, they closed the case. I have everything documented, the arbitration case denial, the customer care representative, closing the case because she stated that I was refusing to work with them, which is not true. She informed me that they were even going to tow the vehicle to the Dealership where it was purchased, but the dealership refused to look at or work on the vehicle. She expected me to drive 100 miles to another dealership and I refused to do that, based on the drivability of the vehicle. The dealership where purchased, is 15-20 miles from my residence. Another dealership, that has been trying to duplicate the problem is 5 miles from my residence. There is a very, very dangerous problem with this vehicle. At the moment I have roughly 17,000 miles; practically new.
The truck will lose power, shift into park and apply the emergency brake. This has happened around 25 time, It happened the day i got the truck, got it started turned around went back to the dealer, they did find anything. This is a very
At low speed, engine stalled and along with strange braking issues occurred causing me to move off road to avoid traffic. Check engine light, and battery light illuminated. After multiple attempts engine restarted and I was able to drive vehicle normally. I didn't think much of it until same problem reoccurred with engine surging and braking. Similar to the transmission slipping and jolting when throttle applied.
The vehicle has stalled multiple times while slowing down into a light and does not restart. The vehicle is equipped with the e - torque system that is supposed to restart the vehicle after coming to a full stop in the engine shutting down to conserve fuel. The vehicle will sometimes shut down at a slow speed and will apply the parking brake automatically. The vehicle then has to be restarted the emergency brake has to be disengaged and the vehicle has to be shifted back into drive to be able to move. The vehicle will have multiple warning lights come up on occasion, including low voltage, service etorque system, low power mode. The vehicle has been taken to two different dealerships at least three different occasions. Sometimes they find diagnostic trouble codes that refer to loss or low engine power. But they have not been able to replicate the problem when dropped off. The problem has occurred during the winter months but also the summer months, so it seems that temperature is not the sole cause. But it seemed to happen more during winter time. The concern for safety is that the vehicle will shut down at a low speed of less than 3 mph. When letting go of the break and expecting the engine to restart the vehicle May slowly roll forward into an intersection if it's in a downhill before the parking brake is able to engage itself. Another concern is for the person behind might assume that the vehicle will drive forward but due to the engine failing to restart and applying the e-brake, the person behind might not see the brake lights engage and could cause the vehicle to get rear-ended if the driver behind is not able to determine the vehicle in front of them has stalled. The problems will appear with no warning whatsoever. And they seem to mostly happen during the initial few miles of the day. As the majority of the instances have been during the morning on my way to work.
When coming to a rolling stop, or a stop where the vehicle just briefly stops moving, the press on the accelerator, the vehicle hesitates for a moment, sometimes 1-2 seconds. This behavior is repeatable. In regular driving such as making a quick left turn after slowing to a near stop or a right turn immediately after coming to a stop at a light or stop sign, this behavior is dangerous as the driver expects and immediate response. Taken to dealer. Official write up claims they were unable to duplicate, however texts with the service advisor say they repeated this behavior with multiple trucks.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 20-30 MPH after making a turn, the vehicle stalled. The contact shifted to neutral(N) and pulled to the side of the roadway. The contact had not attempted to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure had recurred six months later. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a secondary dealer, Rick Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Duluth (2473 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth, GA 30096); however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

I have made a prior complaint about the same issue when I had the truck for only a day and 111 miles on it that the entire truck lost power as I was making a left hand turn. It has again happened that the entire truck lost power as I was driving. I now have 15,039 miles on it. I was driving stop and go leading up to a stop sign when the truck stalled and lost power and turned on the emergency brake. I was able to finally get it back running. It has been an issue for a while where you can almost feel like the truck is about to stall but it eventually kicks back in. This time however it did not.
When coming to a stop light, the vehicle stalled and shut off without warning. I had to shift to park, apply the brake and press the emergency brake button to get the vehicle to start. This has occurred twice since buying the vehicle in March 2024.
After driving in a snow storm twice in the same day and one time in the winter of 2023 I was unable to put my truck into park. Each of the three time it occurred the gear indicator would flash and a message appeared to set parking brake to prevent rolling. While this was occurring I could not turn the truck off or put it into park as it would only go into accessory mode and see the parking brake. I contacted my local deal who was able to look at the truck that day. They advised there was to much snow and ice built up around a knuckle on the transmission that didn’t allow the truck to go into park and on this particular day the dealership received 30 calls on this issue including the service departments shop Forman. I was told not to drive my 4x4 off road package truck in the snow and to park in a heated garage. I contacted Ram customer care who admitted it was a know issue and a design flaw. Ram customer service also advised to not drive in snow and to park in a heated garage. Living in WI that is not a feasible option. This put myself and others in danger as I was not able to physically put my 2022 Ram into park and could have injured myself or others as the truck would not go into park gear. There was no warning this was happening until I attempted to put truck into park. I do have a video I recorded as it was occurring that I can provide to you.
When coming to a slow stop, the transmission has a clunky shift from 2nd to 1st gear.
Engine has stalled and shut off on multiple occasions, once on the on ramp to a highway this posing extremely dangerous scenario. Dealership has been unable to determine the cause or replicate the issue
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shut off as a battery warning light would flash on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they discovered the issue was related to the torque located inside the motor. The contact was informed that the part to repair the defect was not available. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

The high pressure fuel pump failed while traveling at approximately 45 mph in the left lane on a public highway in snowy conditions. The truck lost all mechanical power and would not start upon multiple attempts. There were other motorists on the road who could have been endangered if I was not able to safely maneuver the truck to the shoulder. The truck was towed to Ken Garff Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in West Valley, UT where the service department confirmed that the high pressure fuel pump failed. The manufacturer "prioritized" ordering replacement parts, but is unable to provide an estimated time of arrival for several components necessary to complete the repair. No symptoms, warning lamps, or other indicators were evident prior to the mechanical failure. The fuel tank was 3/4 full with diesel fuel purchased in Utah (where the incident occurred), DEF was full, and the truck had routine scheduled service a week prior performed by a Ram dealership in Canoga Park, CA.
The contact owns a 2022 RAM 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 2 MPH into his driveway, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, coming to a complete stop after colliding into the contact's home. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. The contact sustained a minor injury but did not seek treatment. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 50,000.

THE VEHICLE HAS A CONSTANT VIBRATION. IT WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WITH 312 MILES. I HAVE COPIES OF EACH TRIP TO THE DEALER. THE DRIVE SHAFT SHOWED NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY, THE BRAKES SHUDDER UNDER DECELERATION, NOISE WAS FOUND IN THE MOTOR MOUNTS. IT VIBRATES AT ALL SPEEDS BUT AT 65 MPH THERE IS A ROARING SOUND INSIDE THE CAB WITH ENOUGH VIBRATION ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO PUT YOUR HAND TO SLEEP. I'M NOT SURE IF SOMETHING IS GOING TO COMPLETELY SEPERATE FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN, IF THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO FAIL OR MOTOR WILL SEPERATE FROM THE MOTOR MOUNTS. I'VE BEEN IN THE TIRE AND WHEEL BUSINESS FOR 41 YEARS AND THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON. IF THERE'S A VIBRATION AT ALL SPEEDS, SOMETHING IS WRONG. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND BY THE AREA TECH ADVISOR WHO TOLD ME ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMBER 9TH 2023, HE KNOWS WHAT'S WRONG AND IT CAN NOT BE FIXED. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT FCA IS WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO FAIL BEFORE THEY WILL FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE FILED A "LEMON LAW" SUIT AGAINST FCA IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.
At random times the truck when coming to a stop under 10 mph will stall and shut itself off and engage the emergency brake. It shifts itself into park and to start again you have to push on brake, release emergency brake, press ignition switch and put car back into drive. This happens sometimes multiple times a day or once every couple days, whenever it happens we nearly get rear ended because it stops the truck so suddenly. The truck also has engaged the emergency brake at 60 mph, jolted the vehicle and we had to coast to the side of the road. At this time it did not stop the truck instantly and thank God no one was right behind us. We have taken it in twice already to get it fixed and we were told they couldn’t replicate the problem along with they updated the computer so we wouldn’t have any further problems yet we still are. This truck is going to get either us hurt or someone else hurt and it’s the only vehicle we have to use! I’ve seen several other complaints online and whole heartedly believe this truck is a lemon with a big safety concern of creating an accident due to the sudden stall and shutdown of the truck at random times.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH, the auto park features independently engaged. The contact stated that the feature would shift the vehicle to park (P), turn the vehicle off, and set the parking brake. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle could be restarted; however, the failure occurred at a traffic signal. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but it was a recurring failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,525.

The drive train in my truck has multiple issues that have been going on since I bought the truck last December. The rear end has a clunk when making a yield type turn or when applying gas after coasting. This clunk is heard and felt from the driver seat. There is a delay when shifting into reverse from park which gives a clunk when it shifts into gear. The truck is jerky at slow speeds (25mph and below) or when coming to a stop. The throttle has a delay when starting off. You will push the gas to go and the transmission is not ready. It will finally decide to go and give you a strong jerk. Sometimes when coming to a stop there will be a clunk which feels as if you got hit from behind. The engine will shut off before the truck comes to a complete stop during a auto start/stop sequence. I have had the truck in for service twice and both times I was told that nothing is wrong.
My 2022 Ram 5.7 with etorque (25k miles) decided to park itself in the middle of a state Highway. I was coming to a stop at a light and heard some beeping noises from the truck, I looked down and it was trying to put the truck into park while my wheels were still turning. Once I was around 2-3 mph it jammed into park and applied the parking brake. I couldn’t move the knob to drive, and my battery light lit up on the dash. I had to turn the truck off and back on again to get it out of park. The truck almost didn’t seem to want to turn back on and when I put it in drive, the engine started sputtering and the battery light remained on. I gassed it and barely managed to make my turn without stalling into oncoming traffic because the engine kept acting like it was going to die. I stopped in a parking lot for a few minutes, kept the truck running and started back home. While the engine stopped sputtering it still didn’t seem to drive quite right- the truck was surging a little when it shifted and it still had the battery light on. Once I got home (like a mile away) I turned it off and back on a few times with no further issues. Possibly unrelated but I have also been to 3 Ram dealers to try and fix my engine tapping/knocking noise (and sometimes rough idle - maybe lifter related). It’s so loud I can hear knocking from inside my truck and from 15-20 feet away in a parking lot. All three dealers stated it was normal, which (obviously) it is not. I’ve also had issues with electrical burning smells coming from my engine bay, as well as a leaky rear window (probably over the battery pack). Ram needs to acknowledge the safety issues and mechanical failures and fix them immediately before someone gets hurt, or worse. I have read dozens of reports from this site of trucks parking themselves in the middle of the road and so far nothing seems to be done about it. I have footage on my dash-cam, if they would like to reach out and see what exactly happened.
My vehicle is equipped with a dial for gear shifting. While stopped at a light I was adjusting the radio. As I took my foot off the brake but before I placed it on the accelerator I was also moving my hand from the radio controls back to the steering wheel. During the transition it brushed across the shifting dial causing the vehicle to shift from drive to reverse. I feel this could have caused an accident had I not realized what I had done and put my foot on the accelerator.
Transmission jumped out of gear while on major higway. Vehicle is at the dealership. Three times the vehicle jumped out of gear while driving on a major highway, had to make my way to the shoulder of the road without causing an accident. Dealership has had the vehicle since Dec 12, 2022 No warning lights or messages. Issue accured between Nov 1, 2022 to Dec 12, 2022
I started my truck to go to work and 3 warning came on, the abs system, the traction control service, and 4x4 disengaged. This vehicle has 16,100 miles on it. I tried to drive it to the dealership for repair and the rear tires are locked up.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission shifted into the park(P) independently and the contact was unable to shift the gear selector afterward. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and was able to shift out of the park(P). No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred on various occasions. Additionally, after reversing and attempting to shift into drive(D), the transmission remained in the park(P). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer on five occasions; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Sat. 7/16/22 ~ 3:05pm (7,427 mi) - While pulling out of my neighborhood onto the main road, the truck abruptly shut itself off, went into PARK & applied the e-Brake with my truck sticking into the roadway about a foot (& another vehicle behind me). Oncoming traffic in the lane was able to go around me still. Thankfully traffic was light and I wasn’t stuck further out in the road when it happened… or Mon-Fri when it’s busier. I noticed the “Battery” fault symbol on the dash but was able to restart the truck, release the e-brake, and get it in DRIVE again to get going again. During the rest of the 35 min drive to work, I had the digital gauges up on the radio and could see the battery voltage was at 11.9v - 12.0v for the entire drive to work. Sun. 7/17/22 ~ 12:15am to 12:45am - After sitting for 8hrs, I came out expecting to need a jumpstart to get home and found the truck started right up. I pulled up the digital gauges on the radio and the dash cluster and saw the battery voltage was at 13.9v -14.0v. That seemed weird, but perhaps the 48v Li eTorque Battery recharged the 12v system? During the 35min drive home from work, I noticed the battery voltage continued to drop to 13.3v, 13,2v, & 13.0v by the time I got home. Mon. 7/18/22 ~ 7:30am - Dropped the truck off to get it looked at/potential issue entered into the system. Dealer kept the truck for a few days, making several small trips with the truck and couldn't replicate the issue. Tue. 12/14/22 ~ 3:03 pm (15,222 miles) - while making a left turn from onto a side road the truck abruptly shut itself off, went into PARK & applied the e-Brake with my truck stuck in the oncoming Lane. Oncoming traffic luckily stopped for me to clear the road. Same scenario as before, with the “Battery” fault symbol on the dash but was able to start the truck, release the e-brake, and get it in DRIVE again to get going again. During the rest of the 30 min drive the digital gauges show the battery at 11.8v to 12.0v. 2hrs later fine.
Vehicle is equipped with “e-torque” auto stop/start feature. Was driving vehicle about 20-25 mph on road within grocery store parking lot area and approached stop sign. As I came to a stop the vehicle shut the engine off like normal and as I released the brake (which is when the vehicle automatically starts again) it started and I turned right to have the engine shut off again with no warning. Vehicle came to stop on road with traffic and automatically shifted vehicle into park and set e-brake. I didn’t know what happened at the moment and was confused why I lost power. I started the engine again and shifted into drive and deactivated the parking brake. Called dealer immediately after and made an appt for vehicle to be seen. No warning lights persisted after the incident took place. Seems like a very serious safety issue that should be investigated.
There were two (2) separate Repair orders performed in late July 2022 by dealership on 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn truck. Afterwards, on 7/21/22 the Fire Dept responded to our home since new 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 truck with 1,225 miles was “leaking gasoline⛽️ from engine compartment. The gasoline leak was pouring out the engine compartment onto the driveway and down into the street. This potential fire 🔥 dilemma occurred just 2 weeks after dealership had replaced “all the fuel injectors” in the engine. This was a dangerous situation my husband and family were put in due to thus defective truck. In addition, since the inception of leasing this truck the MIL light blinks constantly with daily notification regarding “Powertrain Engine Malfunction”! Seems very negligent for Manufacturer and dealership to have a defective truck that risks the consumer’s life and the safety of their family with a fire hazard!🔥 This defective truck had another repair order on Nov. 29, 2022 when truck began revving on its own and then lost power on roadway. We had to have the truck towed back to dealership yet again & again. This major defect occurred when the truck lost power while driving and the electrical dashboard oil / transmission indicators were acting erratically. Basically, the repair order indicates that the dealership replaced the same fuel injector that they replaced in back in July 2022 (twice for same replacement part). Lastly,, even after seven repairs the check engine light is continuously going on (indicating never ending mechanical problems). The dealership has never fixed this issue either since the truck is beyond repair.
Just purchased brand new and has 681 miles. All the coolant has leaked out onto exhaust causing steam to come into the cab. All over everywhere. The resouvoir is below the minimum level. I stopped the vehicle and was unable to return home because of fear of running out of fluid. The fumes came through the vents. This vehicle only has 681 miles. I purchased this one week ago
DRIVING AROUND 40MPH ON A BUSY ROAD WAY I WENT TO SLOW DOWN AND MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A SHOPPING CENTER. TRUCK DIED WITHOUT WARNING, DASH DISPLAYED NORMAL START PROMPT SCREEN THEN TOLD ME TO SHIFT TO PARK. THE LADY BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR ENDED ME. SO IT STOPPED THE TRUCK COMPLETLEY AND RESTARTED WITH NO ISSUE. IM NOW VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFTEY OF MY FAMILY AND MYSELF NOT TO MENTION I DO TOW A SMALL BUT EXPENSIVE BASS BOAT ON THE WEEKENDS WHICH COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND OR FINANCIAL LOSS!
After coming to a stop or near stop (after applying on the brakes), there is a delay in throttle response and acceleration of between 1-3 seconds. This is a potential safety hazard because if a car is delayed in throttle, it may not be able to properly avoid an accident from behind. There were also a few instances where the car did not respond to the throttle, instead, after a 2 second delay, there was a big jolt which sounded like the car just kicked into gear and thrusted the car forward.
Truck was at a stop sign after being off all night. Truck started fine but when accelerating from a stop into 90 degree turn, engine stalled and battery voltage dropped prompting a shift to park warning and auto stop disabled (already disabled by button) truck refused to turn over the first attempt but started on second and displayed battery voltage at 11.9-12. This is the second time this happened and the first a new battery seem to fix but it has now returned again a month and half later. Both times this happened in traffic and the truck was in the middle of the intersection. 2022 Ram 1500 bighorn 5.7l with etorque. (First red photo was the first time, todays incident was second but it did flash battery warning later on).
On 18OCT2022 while driving on a flat section of road at approximately 35 m.p.h. my vehicle starting shaking at the area of the hood, and then proceeded to make the entire vehicle shake. Shortly after the shaking, the engine died with the message "Start Vehicle" and "Service Electronic Throttle Control", along with the entire dash lighting up. While coasting to a stop, at approximately 15 m.p.h. the vehicle suddenly locked up as it seems to have shifted itself into park, or applied the emergency brake, I'm not sure which causing the vehicle to slide into the grass I had available to pull off into.
While pulling onto a busy roadway the engine of my 2022 Ram 1500 with e-torque shut off and the emergency brake applied itself at about 10mph. This was accompanied by a check engine light and low battery voltage light. After the sudden stop I was almost rear ended by another truck on the road behind me. Seems to be a known issue with these trucks.
Tow haul mode causes vechical to be stuck in 3rd gear which is very dangerous on highway because of speed limit. Ram case manager clarice McDonald case 82922734 advised me to operate the vechical in all conditions without tow haul mode on. They have no fix. The owners manual states it is dangerous and can damage the vehicle if you do not use tow haul mode when carrying heavy weights. Ram is advising customers to not use a feature in the vehicle that makes towing safer and is required per the manual for heavy weights. It is very dangerous having a manufacture advising customers to tow without the use of tow haul mode. Recall required asap.
First Incident was power train failure while attempting to accelerate to merge into expressway traffic the vehicle suddenly revved to high RPMs and wouldn't gain speed acting like the transmission wouldn't shift out of first gear. Had to pull to the shoulder and turn off the vehicle and restart before it functioned properly. With in half an hour received an email the said I'd experienced powertrain failure. I then noticed the service engine soon light on. by the time I got to the dealer the light went out and they refused to look at the vehicle. 10 days later I started seeing warning show up on the display both in the consul and on the Uconnect system. indicating tire pressure and airbag issues. This is the second Vehicle purchase from the same manufacturer and same sale dealership to run such issues.
Was sitting at a light (auto engine shut-off was on). When the light turned green, lifted off the break to push the gas to go. Truck shut off, all lights on the dashboard lit up and truck was automatically shifted into park with emergency brake on. Attempted to restart the truck several times. Truck finally started after 8th attempt. Was able to put into drive and made it home. Truck now has check engine light on. Checked the app for an error code. Says: Powertrain Engine Malfunction on May 25th, 2022 @ 0920am. EOBD/Injection System Failure. Reading online, seems like this is a common safety error and has caused accidents by instantly throwing the vehicle into park without warning and leaving the vehicle inoperable at times.
1. Heater randomly comes on and can’t be shut off 2.rear-brake stops truck when reversing into driveway 3. Truck made noise and suddenly stopped in traffic - eeror message “power train issue” -able to restart car engine light remained on. 4. Service dealer could not get the 12” screen to respond to his touch! 5. Apps (Waze, car play and other apps) Not working constantly The abrupt stop happened on Friday Car has been in dealer for 5 full days while I must rent a car at my expense! NO explanation NO details NO information each time I’ve called dealer and Chrysler customer care! 5/16 - 5/20 after many calls - with promise of return call NOTHING! They say it’s with the technician and he’s looking at it!
Leased new Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab Big Horn V6 (7 miles) on 4/11/2022. Two days later, check engine light came on and dashboard turned on like a Christmas tree. Brought to Security Dodge dealer Amityville for service. They said it was “stored code” and turned off. A couple days later MIL (Malfunction a indicator light) or check engine light came back in. Took to same dealer for 5 days to repair issue to no avail. They said it was programming issue and emphasized “Bad fuel”. One day later “MIL” came back on flashing “check engine”. Brought back to dealer again for repair (Dodge still there). This all happened from 4/11 thru today, May 10 (with approximately 280 miles). I informed salesman and service that in Dodge app it states: “PowerTrain -Engine Malfunction EOBD /injection system failure”. However, nothing has been fixed. Basically, getting run around with Chrysler Corporate and dealer that they can’t fix Check engine light and engine problems. This vehicle is not “safe” to drive in the roadway. A real lemon. Pls. Investigate this claim..this truck has been a nightmare and more importantly not safe to drive.
4 ISSUES. #1 STEREO SCREEN SAYS OVER HEATING SHUTTING DOWN #2 RADIO SCREEN TURNS BLUE SAYS SCREEN OVERHEATING SHUTTING DOWN. SERIUS RADIO KEEPS REMOVING FROM RADIO. #3 WHEN BRAKING THE CAR WILL THRUST FORWARD AS IN A PUSH, PUSHING YOU HARD INTO THE CAR STOPPED AHEAD OF YOU. THE HARDER THE BRAKING THE HARDER THE THRUST/PUSH. (THIS IS A MAGER SAFETY CONCERN) ITS NOT IF YOU GET INTO A ACCIDENT IT IS WHEN. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2022 RAM 1500 BRAKING(EITHER TRANSMISSION OR POWER TRAIN) BUT IT IS BAD I ALMOST GOT INTO SEVERAL REAR END COLLISIONS DUE TO THE DODGES THRUST WHEN BRAKING. I SPOKE TO SOMEONE ELSE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND OWNS A 2022 DODGE REAM AND HE STATED HIS DODGE RAM HAS THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FORCEFUL THRUST WHEN BREAKING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. #4 ELECTRICAL.
Right turn from to sign. Seems that start/stop shut off the engine. When brake was lifted the engine started and immediately stalled, e brake came on and battery warning and check engine light illuminated. I got It going again after shifting to park and releasing the parking brake and turned off start/stop. Got a weird drivetrain vibration soon after so I pulled off and turned the engine off. After I got going again it seemed to run fine but the check engine light is still lit. Two errors were thrown and appear in my Ram app: Charging System Failure EOBD/Injection System Failure
I was pulling our from a stop sign to make a left turn when all of a sudden the engine shut down, emergency brake engaged and all engine power was lost. I would have been struck by cross traffic had there been any as I did not have the ability to maneuver the vehicle. The vehicle was able to be restarted and disengage the emergency brake but the engine light remains on.
While rolling to a stop and turning (3) times and once while slowing for speed bumps my 2022 Dodge Rebel 5.7L V8 Hemi with E-Torque shut off, the emergency brake applied itself and it shifted itself to park. This happened while turning onto a busy street where a bad accident could have happened because of it. There were no warning or indicators prior to the truck shutting off by itself. It has been to the dealership twice with no fix. I have had it for three weeks.
